Eyelid Surgery - Blepharoplasty in Newport Beach CA | Michael Bain MD
The removal of fat, extra skin, and occasionally muscle from the upper and lower eyelids is done by a technique known as blepharoplasty, also known as an eyelid lift. It is done to treat puffy bags beneath the lower eyelids as well as drooping upper eyelids. Although blepharoplasty can be done at any age, most candidates are in their thirties and older. In addition to or instead of other facial surgical operations like a facelift or brow lift, blepharoplasty can be performed. Because the brow frequently weighs down the upper eyelids, upper eyelid blepharoplasty is frequently combined with a brow lift. Five days after surgery, all sutures are routinely removed, and recovery typically lasts a few days. If there is any swelling, it normally lasts two to three weeks and there is little to no bruising. There are numerous blepharoplasty incision styles that may be used. Dr. Bain will choose a surgical treatment to meet your specific needs after talking with you about your objectives and worries. Crow's feet and dark circles under the eyes cannot be removed with this operation, but there are other options that you can discuss with Dr. Bain.
