Welcome back, everybody, to another episode of Real Talk with D Take Five. This is our spoiler-free recap of The Mandalorian and Grogu. This movie was directed by John Favreau, who, of course, also directed the Mandalorian series on Disney Plus. And of course, it centers around the adventures of The Mandalorian and Grogu, hence the title. Now, I will say this. Going into this movie, I was not expecting it to be like A New Hope or The Empire Strikes Back or even Revenge of the Sith for that matter. Was I expecting it to be the greatest Star Wars movie ever made? Absolutely not. Was I expecting it to just be a fun adventure movie? Absolutely. And honestly, that's exactly what we got. I came away from this movie just having a really good time. Do I think it was the best? No. But do I think that this movie was nothing but entertaining? Definitely. I think the one thing that stood out to me was just going into it. It just felt like watching a couple of episodes back to back from the Disney Plus series. In fact, at times it almost just feels like you're just watching it on a much bigger scale. The stakes weren't a hundred percent high. Like it's not like the Empire was the primary enemy, even though they were involved in it without giving too much away. Obviously, you guys see in the trailers, The Mandalorian just does have some deals with the Huts. And I think that definitely becomes more of the A storyline, which again didn't necessarily take away from it. I would highly recommend watching the animated Clone Wars movie. Not the necess not necessarily the series, but the actual movie that came out. But I would watch that first before going into this. You don't have to, but it might help you understand the plot line better for this one. Now, like I said, it does feel like you're watching a couple of episodes back to back, but I don't mean that as a criticism. I think the reason the Mandalorian has become such a massive hit is just because audiences are able to connect with our two leading characters. I mean, we just love spending time with them every single time they're on screen. We have the Mandalorian himself, Dinjaron, who's honestly one of the coolest characters that I think Star Wars has introduced in quite a long time. He's just got that quiet, capable, Western gunslinger vibe, if you want to put it that way. He just makes him it just makes him really stand out from other Star Wars characters. I think the closest we've probably had to that is Han Solo. But then of course there's Grogu. And let's be honest, every single time Grogu, or you guys might know him as Baby Yoda, but every single time he's on screen, he steals the show. Whether he's using the force, getting himself into trouble, or just reacting to what's happening around him, or trying to steer the ship, like everything he does, he's just one of the most lovable characters in the entire franchise. I'm genuinely curious who you guys think is more adorable between Grogu or Baby Group from Guardians of the Galaxy. Feel free to let me know. But that aside, I think that's what makes these kind of movies work or the series. It's just the relationship is just full of so much heart, and you can really feel that father-son bonding, and I think that really adds a lot of special specialty to the movie itself. Now, sometimes it's just enough to follow the characters that we enjoy and watch them tackle on their next mission. I won't lie, watching the series, it did start to get a little repetitive. It was literally just Mando and Grogu getting in the ship, going off to the next planet to deal with their next mission, and so on, and so on, and so on. There was, of course, a major season finale in season two, which I don't want to spoil anything if you guys haven't seen it, because we did get a big cameo in the movie that, or excuse me, in the episode that really added so much to it. And we kind of got that taken away from us a little bit, but I won't go too into that road. There aren't really a whole lot of cameos in this movie, but I guess that is the one thing that's sort of missing. I do wish that we were kind of more plot-driven in it and we had bigger stakes to deal with, but you know, that's just me being critical. I do love the show, and I know the movie knew exactly what it wanted to be, which is just them continuing their fun adventures. It doesn't try to reinvent any kind of wheel or anything like that. The movie itself delivers action and humor, familiar characters, of course, and just that sense of adventure that just made us fall in love with the two characters. Of course, like I said, not every movie has to change the franchise forever. There are some movies that did better than others. Everybody loved Rogue One, but they weren't crazy about the solo movie. Me personally, I love the solo movie. Again, I thought it was just a fun adventure. We got a little bit more of an introduction for Han Solo and Lando and how he meets Chewy. But the like I said, a movie like this, it's just a good time. Not everyone has to be a groundbreaking, you know, stake rising show scene stealer or anything like that. The movie's job is just purely to entertain, and I think it did exactly that. If I had to give it a score, I would probably just give it a maybe six and a half out of a ten, maybe even a seven. Because, like we said, we just came out of it having a great time. But with all that being said, you know, we I will say the Mandalorian Grogu is just a fun adventure. And honestly, it's exactly what I was hoping for. But I want to hear from you guys. What did you all think of it? Did you enjoy it? Did you not enjoy it? Uh, did it work better as a movie, or do you think it works better as a Disney Plus series? But let me know. Um, until then, everybody, this is Real Talk with D signing out and saying I will see you at the movies.
