Hey, welcome back to another episode of Real Talk with D Take 5, and today we're going to be doing another spoiler-free review on Scary Movie 6, or rather Scary Movie 2026. The movie was directed by Michael Titus, who's who, of course, is best known for movies like Haunted House, A Haunted House 2, uh Fifty Shades of Black. However, the movie itself was written by none other than the Wayne's Brothers, who have made a remarkable comeback. And I gotta say, it was great to see them on the big screen again. Now, I've always been a huge fan of the Wayans Brothers movies such as The Little Man, Don't Be a Menace, Um, All The Scary Movie 1 and 2, White Chick. So you know firsthand I was really looking forward to seeing this movie. Now, actually going into the movie, I was a little nervous given how much from other viewers and early screenings, and there were a lot of people who are kind of throwing some shade at it. And it's very, I guess, it made me a little skeptical just because I know it's been a while since m comedies have been made because there's so many people out there who are almost kind of afraid to kind of poke fun at anything because it's it does seem like people will get easily offended or they'll say the wrong jokes or the jokes are just fall flat and they're just not funny for this day and age. And it could literally be anything. So this is really the first big comedy that we had to look forward to in quite a long time. So going into the movie, I definitely had my expectations set, but I wasn't trying to set them overly too high. Now, obviously, Scary Movie 1 and 2 were made from the Wands. However, three, four, and five, they were dismissed from that. And you can definitely tell they were throwing some darts at those uh people who took that away from them. And so it was kind of nice for them to sort of reclaim it again. I saw a recent interview with uh Marlon and Sean Wands, and they were basically saying that they made this movie for their father who has passed uh a couple of years ago, but they he the father made them promise that you know they would work together again, and they they essentially it was made for him. So this was really nice and almost kind of healing for you know the whole family, which I appreciated. Now, as a movie itself, I will say it wasn't as funny as the first movie, or probably even the second movie for that matter. I do need to go back and watch them again because I haven't seen those movies in quite a long time. In fact, I I was only 10 years old, a little crazy. But with that being said, I couldn't stop laughing when I first watched that movie. But going into this one, it you can definitely tell they were trying to shoot for a little bit of the same humor, but of course, kind of adapt to the pop culture and the horror movies that have been made within the last 10 years. And I will say, while I did get some good laughs in it, I also do think that's where the movie fell a little bit flat. I think the nice thing about the first one in particular is because we really centered around two movies, which was Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer, and we kind of had a straight path with those movies, and they were able to just kind of sprinkle some other things around that would kind of help with the flow and make it a little bit more cohesive, but it it fit, it had a better flow with it. With this new one, I felt like they were kind of throw, excuse me, they were kind of trying to throw a little too much too fast, and you know, they only had 90 minutes to do so, so it just did seem a little crammed, it seemed a little all over the place. Some of the jokes did fall a little flat to me, but granted, I was in a theater who I it almost kind of felt like they were afraid to laugh at some of the jokes, so you just gotta go in with an open mind. They really make fun of everything and everybody, no matter what side you're on, no matter where you stand or anything like that. You just gotta go in and just be ready for a good laugh with some of these jokes. But with that being said, it was just great to see our old generation uh back on the screen again with the Wayne's, of course, Anna Ana Faris as Cindy, Regina Hall as Brenda, and even you know, Lachlan Monroe as Greg, we got Doofy appearing back on screen, and Gail Hailstorm. I think the only one who was missing from the OGs was Shannon Elizabeth's character, Buffy. But with that being said, I really did get a good kick out of it. So if you're looking for just a good laugh and just a chance to kind of kick back and just go in, enjoy yourself, don't expect any top-notch, you know, humor or anything like that, but just go in looking for a good time. To be a hundred percent honest, if you have found movies like Scary Movie Three or Four, uh to I'm gonna kind of leave out five because I wasn't really a big fan of five. I didn't really find it funny at all. But even if you like scary movies three and four that also just kind of fell all over the place, then I think you'll leave feeling pretty satisfied with this movie. It may not hurt to go back and watch the original scary movie before you go and see this one, just because they do do a couple of callbacks to it, maybe even the second one as well. But I will say I think the standout for me in this was probably Sean Wayne's character, Ray. Every time he was on screen, I just could not help but laugh every single time. There's also another part. If you guys remember the first movie where uh the ghost face killer meets up with Marlon Waines' character, Shorty, and you know, a bunch of his friends, and they're all, let's just say, doing what they do best. Well, they do kind of revisit something like that again. And it every time they do those kind of scenes, I really can't help but laugh every single time. So, anyways, you guys, I hope you do enjoy it. I hope you go in and just with an open mind and just kick back, relax, have a good laugh, just because it has been a while since we've all gotten together just at a movie theater and just collectively laughed at a joke. So I hope that we can all begin to do that again one day. But until then, everybody, I want to know what you think. Did you guys enjoy scary movie? What did you not what did you like about it? What did you not like about it? I want to hear everything. So until then, make sure to stay tuned to Real Talk with D. And then I will see you at the movies.
