What is up, movie fans? Welcome back to another episode of Real Talk with D Take 5. This is another spoiler-free review we're going to be doing. Today we're going to be talking about The Furious. Now, The Furious is an English language Hong Kong action film that was directed by Kenji Tanigaki. This movie was very, very good, actually. Before I get into it, I will let you guys know this is one of those movies that kind of flew under the radar. It didn't really have the biggest marketing campaign versus some of the other blockbusters that have come out this year. But after watching it, I'm honestly sad that it didn't because this movie deserved so much more attention. If you guys are curious about it, what it centers around is a simple, simple father who gets his daughter kidnapped by child traffickers, and he just goes on the rampage. And along the way, he meets somebody who's also searching for someone very important to his life, and they team up and they basically just take on these child traffickers, and it is just non-stop action. Like I said, going into it, I wasn't expecting anything groundbreaking. Um, I love a good martial arts movie, and sometimes this is what I like about martial art movies, they don't need any big groundbreaking plots, nothing overly complicated with twists or double crossings or anything like that. It just keeps it very, very simple. And you obviously you automatically know what the main characters want. You know who the villains are. The movie wastes very little time getting into the action. And I just really appreciated that. We just need a good, fun popcorn movie, even though I hate popcorn. But not every movie needs to reinvent the wheel. Sometimes just a straightforward, revenge-driven movie is just all you need as long as it's executed well. And I think that's where The Furious really shines. Beyond that, where it also really shines is the fight choreography. It is excellent. Every fight feels different enough to stay interesting. The action is super fast paced, it doesn't become impossible to follow. And what I always appreciate too is when people actually know their martial arts. You obviously have seen movies where there's so many fight scenes where they're just constantly jump cutting from one shot to another. It takes literally like nine shots just to get a couple moves down. Whereas with this one, you can actually see what's happening. It actually follows some of the characters with some of their martial arts choreography. Therefore, you know these guys have been training a good chunk of their lives. And that I think is becoming more and more rare these days. There's too many movies that rely on quick cuts and shaky cameras, but here you can really appreciate everyone's athleticism, their skill, their timing, everything about it. So if you're someone who grew up watching classic martial arts movies, I mean you name it, we could go with Bloodsport, Rocky, Karate Kid, you name it, you'll probably find a lot of enjoyment here. The movie understands that martial arts aren't just about like throwing your punches and kicking, but it's about the rhythm and the movement and, of course, the discipline of storytelling through basic combat. Another thing that I really liked was that there was just no dragging when it came to the pacing. It knew exactly where it wanted to go. It didn't spend too much time on unnecessary subplots or anything like that. It just moved straight forward. And was it incredibly deep? Honestly, no, it really wasn't, but it didn't need to be. Sometimes I think just a good action movie is, like I said, all we need. It's not trying to be this emotional character study or an Oscar contender or anything like that. It's just purely trying to entertain you with memorable fights and a straightforward storyline. And right there, I think, is where it succeeded. I think this is one of those movies that could eventually build a following over time. I know there's plenty of movies out there that started off, you know, not making a lot of money, but as time went on, as the years went on, more and more people discovered it and they started to thoroughly enjoy it until it became a phenomenon. I think this movie could have that potential if more and more people were aware of it. So that's why I'm also doing this is I want to make everybody aware of this movie. It's also very important. I know we can all unite against you know child trafficking, how it's literally one of the worst things in the world. So to see some of these people, you know, get justified with some of this stuff, it's it's really fun to watch. I can't, I cannot recommend this enough. But that being said, I will say this if you're a fan of martial arts cinema, this is definitely one that should be on your list. If you're looking for just nonstop action, clean choreography, this is a very, very easy recommendation. Like I said, no complex stories, no shocking twists. Honestly, it's perfect just the way it is. I had a great time watching it. So for me, The Furious will definitely earn another solid 8.5, maybe even a 9 out of a 10, because, like I said, this movie knew exactly what it wanted. It was simple and it gave us exactly that. I will say, maybe my one gripe with it, there might be a couple of parts where it might have just gone on a little too long, like some of the fight scenes, they may have extended a little too much. Also, make sure to suspend your you know disbelief on this just because there will be a lot of fights where you might think to yourself, how did that not kill this person? Or this guy definitely should have died from this. Yeah, that's definitely not the case in this movie. There's they go through a lot of brutality. It is a very, very brutal movie. So make sure you guys are definitely prepared for that. This involves not only you know fists, but also bow and arrows, it involves hammers, it involves a lot of brutality. So, like I said, great fight choreography, strong pacing, simple but effective, and most importantly, just a fun movie. And those are the kinds of action movies that we all love to see.
