Season 2 Episode 6: Nate Riech 1500m Toyko Paralympic Champion, World Record Holder and World Champion
On this episode I'm joined by Nate Riech - Paralympic Champion and Record Holder in the 1500m. Nate Riech was paralysed on his left side of his body, after being hit in the back of his head with a golf ball at the age of 10. Coming from a family of Olympians and sportspeople, Nate Reich knew that he was born to be athletic.
After learning to walk again, Nate begun to run and hasn't looked back. Nate Riech now holds titles such as World Champion, Paralympic Champion and World Record Holder. Even though these titles sound great, there is a harsh reality around gaining sponsors in the paralympic field. Nate has trained with some of the greatest runners alive such as Jake Wightman, and also trains as hard as the Ingebritsen brothers but he remains un-sponsored. I hope this podcast sheds light on a part of a sport that isn't usually talked about.
