Proposed gun legislation and an update on the first week of spring sports

R. Hans Miller Season 3 Episode 6

On this episode of the STUDIO BASIN Podcast, Cub Reporter Nance Beston and Senior Reporter Cheryl Schweizer talk about Senate Bill 5098, a piece of proposed legislation that would ban weapons in public areas where children may be present. The bill has passed the senate and is going through the house process now. The bill's sponsor, Javier Valdez, is originally from Moses Lake and stated the shooting at the Grant County Fairgrounds last August was part of the reason he proposed the bill. The shooter shooter recently pleaded guilty. However, both Grant County Fairgrounds Manager Jim McKiernan and Grant County Sheriff Joey Kriete have concerns on the implications of the bill.
In the sports segment, Schweizer and Beston discuss the first week of spring sports including games from Moses Lake baseball, Ephrata baseball, Warden baseball and Quincy soccer.
