Controversial Disney Movies

Daniel Aguilar

Hello everybody, and welcome to another edition of Four two Dee's podcast. The night's topic is our Disney movies Controversial. I am Daniel Aguilar, and here with me at Jonathan Aguilar. John, say hi. Hello. How are we doing today? How are you, Dan? pretty good. Not, not too bad. Um, went to work and kids have been on a half day scheduled, uh, throughout this whole week, and icing on the cake is now they have tomorrow off, so they're, oh, it was a super easy week as far as. Our, our school routine. Just how to start the day, how easy it was because Danny had that motivation of, of not having to, the thought of having a half day as opposed to like a, a full day. So, so yeah. So it's actually the mornings have been pretty, pretty easy. Um, I would say, I don't know if Sherry would agree with that, but I mean, I remember when I was a kid, the half days. they were worth waking up for. They, those were exciting days. Yeah. I don't re, it's hard to say because like, I don't really remember half days until like junior high school. And that's because you would go out to lunch with your friends, you know what I mean? So like, I don't really remember the half days for Element. but like, starting from like junior high school, it was like a big deal. It was like, all right, we're gonna go here for lunch, um, tomorrow at, uh, you know, our, our half day. And you know, Moses and I would always pick like the hamburger spots, kind of like gyms and, um, heaven burger, heaven burgers. We thought, we thought we were, uh, ahead of the game. Well, everyone was going to jackai McDonald's. We would take McDonald's those places, so not have to compete with like, we'd always have a nice place to sit, be quiet and yeah. So yeah, it was good times and they were good friends too. And you get more for your buck. Oh yeah. Actually back, back then, like I remember like. would always ask dad the day, the day before, like, Hey dad, can I have money for, for, uh, lunch tomorrow? And he gave me like 20 bucks and I think I always spent like$10 if that on, you know, the lunch and probably the dessert I gonna say Yeah. Was back then. That's, you were, you're doing pretty good. Yeah. Those are, those are the goodo days. Not anymore with inflation and everything.$10 a value menu. So should we tell everyone how game night went last week? Yeah. Yeah. I think there was a, it was a hit. We, we had a great time. Um, we re rescheduled it, so, exactly. That was a little hiccup in there. Um, yeah. But, uh, yeah, so there was. We won't name names here. We, uh, we'll keep it anonymous, but we didn't want to get everybody sick, so we kind of just pushed it back to tomorrow, Friday. And, um, I'm looking forward to it and getting the house clean, getting ready for you guys to come over. Um, looking forward to it. Yeah. I'm gonna be late tomorrow. All the better. Yeah, so I all the better. The Children's Center called me and there was like, there's like a kid they want me to see and so I'll probably be getting to your place at around six 30. So, um, okay. You're really gonna be late. Yeah. So same me. Uh, same me as Slice. Is Sherry and them coming separate or they come later with you? Probably. Okay. No. Yeah. So, uh, I'm expecting a New York slice, authentic New York slice for Soboro. Uh, we don't do that joke. Little office joke there. So, uh, what did you do this last weekend? Or what was the highlight? What was the highlight? What was the highlight? So what did we do? Um, yeah, I suck at this and plus it's been about a week, so my memory's. Not as great as it used to be, but, uh, I believe we did some running around. We played with the kids at home. Um, oh, I guess the highlight, it was just, uh, my youngest, my 11 month old is pretty much walking down. He's, he's singing several strides. He turns around, he's. Little guy is very mobile with crawling, but now he is walking. So that was, that was a pretty sweet highlight. Oh yeah. You gotta, now you have to like, really make sure those stairs are, uh, are locked up. Oh, those were already a issue. He, he already climbed the stairs like two months ago. Like he just, we just followed him behind him and he's a StairMaster, just conquers those things left and right. So, yeah, we constantly had to get him off. We were, um, a little nervous last year when we went to, uh, Oregon for Christmas, cuz we stood at, um, Brandy South. My sister-in-law shout out to Brandy. Um, and she got upstairs. And Danny obviously we weren't worried about cause she'd been up and downstairs, but Alex has never, and, uh, by the end of that first night, the kids were just like from the top to the. they would, um, either go on their stomachs from the top and just like slide down or go on their, their butt and, uh, Yeah, they would, it was a little like nerve-wracking at first, but then, you know, you get used to it. So, uh, that's the best. Yeah. So that's what I did. Well, oh wait a minute. One thing I was gonna ask you, one thing that I did kind. This is more or less this weekend, but, we'll, I'll bring it up. Um, I kinda had like an adult moment. I got something excited for that was something completely stupid, not something really worth getting excited for, but, um, what kind of toothbrush do you have? Do you just have like a standard toothbrush or do you use electrical toothbrush? Uh, just a standard toothbrush standard. Okay. So that's what I've used my whole life. And we recently got electric toothbrushes and it's honestly, it, it's bringing the smile to my face just talking about it, it, my teeth have never felt so clean and it's just, it's, it's awesome. It's, it's one of those things that like, you get excited for only because you're an adult, but, um, I would recommend trying it out. It's, it's worth it. It's, it's nice. It's nice. The first time you use it, you kind of feel like you're at a dentist, but after that one time it feels good. And yeah, you have a clean, clean mouth. Pretty nice. How does your, how does your teeth feel Clean. Well cuz you know how like, okay, throughout the day if you don't, like, if you brush your teeth in the morning and at night throughout the day, you eat and drink and sometimes you know, you get something like food is stuck between your teeth or whatnot, but like your teeth don't feel as clean. Once you brush your teeth, they normally feel a bit more glossy. They feel, they feel smoother, you know? And with the electric toothbrush, it just felt that much more smooth. and it was just, it was, uh, yeah, I, I enjoy it. I, I honestly look forward to brushing my teeth now. Okay. good for you. Happy you, uh, just saying for anyone out there who's ever been on the fence, whether it's worth it to get electric toothbrush, I say it's worth it. It's awesome. Yeah. So we'll. Shifted over to my weekend. I would say like the highlight would be, and this is kind of like bittersweet. I always spend this time of year bittersweet, uh, playoffs. Uh, so last week falls over last week. Uh, my Buffalo bills came to an end, they. Yeah, it was, uh, wasn't even close. Uh, it was a wing and finally had like that heartbreak. Uh, this is why I did not wanna fall in love with team, but, um, I'm riding with them, standing behind them, and now I get to do what I've always I've always laughed at those type of fans who, like right after the season's over, they hit the message board. They hit the, you know, the, the Twitter pages. They follow and see what everyone's saying. And I could say I walked proudly with that group. Now that's exactly what I did after the bill's lost. So I started seeing what other fans were saying with, uh, how they felt. And I even texted, uh, a buddy of mine this past week. It was a round span throughout a potential trade that made sense for both teams, so, you know, onto next year. But I always, uh, this, this year's always, uh, I'm excited for because you get probably the three best games of the season and, but then it's over, football's over and, uh, and yeah. So it's, uh, like I said, it's bittersweet. So, uh, who do you have in your. what do you have Gwe to the Super Bowl this year. So as much as I don't want them to Philadelphia. And then on the other side, uh, I don't know, cause Mahomes is hurt. So it's, it's hard for me to see. It's been reported that I don't, again, I'm not there at practice, but he is not walking with any type of. Yeah, I saw that he was practicing full practice and whatnot. Yeah, so I mean, if he's good, then I would say Casey, uh, Joe Burrow has been the chief the last three times they, he faced him. So I believe they call it Cincinnati, the Manes. They're, they call it, uh, a set of Arrowhead, which where Kansas City plays, that's the name of the stadium, right? They call it, uh, burrow Head, which is their quarterback, He owns that place. So, um, yeah, I, I, I think it's gonna be, I'm kind of rooting for a, a, a Philly, Cincinnati. I think that would, A good uh, good Super Bowl. I'm in like a no win situation cuz I don't want the 49ers to go to the Super Bowl cause they knocked out my cowboys and I don't want Philly to go cause that's a division rivalry. So one of them have to go. Yeah. I just hope neither one wins I was really hoping for Buffalo, Dallas. That would've been so much fun. That would've been like an awesome Super Bowl party. Yeah, that would be fun. What are you gonna do? Uh, did you catch that three? Oh, go ahead. Oh, let's say, did you catch that? Uh, John and I used to watch religiously growing up we were diehard wrestling fans. And so I was wondering, did you watch that anniversary? Raw, special on Monday? I didn't. I saw a preview for it and, thinking about tuning into it, but never, yeah, I was never gonna watch it. But, uh, YouTube, uh, well, what can I say? They own me. And so they know exactly what to post. Like as soon as they log into YouTube, they know exactly what videos, uh, to, to pop up cuz they know I'm gonna click it. And sure enough, I, uh, I did a little, I did not, it's a little deep dive. I watched like two clips. I honestly think that there's nothing more depressing than watching your favorite wrestlers. Wrestlers now. I mean, watching from backpack, well, like watching DX came out, uh, come out to their song and walking to the ring. It was just so. Sad and depressing. And it was just like, you, like walkers. I asked, I asked myself how God, I'm I'm old. It wasn't even them. It was just like, I'm old Cause if they look like that, if they look like that, yeah. Um, plus too, I mean, wrestlers don't age well. No, they do not, not normally. Um, to live that lifestyle. You know, what I've kind of dived into a couple times on YouTube was, um, like just some of their podcasts that they interview each other, the older wrestlers that we followed. Like I know Stone Cold has his own podcast and they talk about like a lot of behind the scenes stuff. And that's, that's some of the stuff that I've checked out that I really like watching. The one I I got hooked on was, um, I think it's, Wrestling? Well, the, it's a Bruce, Bruce Pritchard and um, Conrad. I liked that one because Bruce Pritchard, he was part of the creative team and he was like, Vince McMahon's. Right hand man for like, especially that time from like, if you don't know who Bridge Christer is, he's brother Love and Right. He, he was a man for right hand man from like, I would say all through the nineties and two thousands. And so, um, so he has a lot of insight in, in and stories, so I, I really enjoyed that, that podcast. Um, that's the only one I really listened to. I know Stone Cold has one. I know like a bunch of the wrestlers, um, because of that. Bruce picture one taking off a lot of'em, uh, started their own podcasts, so Right. But you know, once in a while though, I'll do, like, if I get hooked on that podcast, it's gonna be interesting now cause I don't see myself listening to that podcast anymore because I don't have far of a drive. But when I did, if I listen to one or two episodes, I would definitely like do a little, I would watch a couple little rolls on the, on the peacock, cuz that. W uh, w e o owns right? All their, all their libraries on the peacock mm-hmm. Um, network. And so, so yeah. So I'll watch like a few wrestling shows and pay-per views and I'll just fast forward through the wrestling matches and just watch like the, you know, the, the interviews and the uh, the segments, cuz that's what, you know, you really want to, that was really fun. After the show. Um, I was gonna ask you, did you catch the next game today? You mean tonight when they took you to the avalanche? Five to three? Yeah. Yes. Um, I didn't watch the, the game, but I was following on my phone. Okay. Um, those gal getting some work done and, you know, trying, you know, things done around the house. And so I, like I said, I didn't watch a game per se, but I knew they were playing tonight and I had it on my app and, uh, yeah. So, yeah, go dodge. My favorite team, what can I say? You know, they, they hurt me. Well, they locked out, you know, I was like, that's not what I'm about. I'm a, I'm a hockey purist, love for the game. So when they, uh, please stop. Yeah. So when they. Well, they shortly when they went on strike, I took my, took my love for the game. And that's enough until I was ready to love again. And, uh, you're not living anyone now. And I found a new home in Anaheim. It's Elise Ducks. So, all right. Uh, yeah. So, uh, anything else you would like to add or like, oh, any highlights from this? Um, not that I could think of. Um, so not so much a highlight, but something that we're going through here as my youngest is having like four different teeth coming in right now at one. Ouch. So, um, he's. He's honestly, during the day he's totally fine. He's just drooling a lot like babies do when they're teething. But, um, at night he's kind of woken up here or there. So we've been giving him Tylenol just right before bedtime and that normally helps him, uh, kind of deal with the pain. So, um, so yeah. So he just can't wait for that to be, to be a thing of the past. Yeah. And that, I remember those days and. Yeah, don't miss some. All those things. I mean, there's nothing worse than seeing your kid in pain because then you kind of feel helpless. Like, you know, you can't take that pain away. So all you can do is try to comfort them and um, yeah, and pray that the Tylenol works and kicks in. So, yeah, I mean, for the most part it normally does. It's just like at night, and I'm sure many parents that have dealt with. when you're tired and ready to go back to bed and you're holding them, they're sleeping. And as soon as you put'em down, they said, no, They sit up and they want to, they want you to hold'em. And I was like, okay. All right. Let's keep going. Exactly. Okay. Um, are you ready for a GAD joke of the day? Bend it. Okay. You can see'em so far for the year cheaper two, right? Uh, yeah. They've been pretty good so far. Okay. Okay. Let me see. Stalling. That's not a good sign. All right. You know, I, the other day I saw a couple of cows were smoking weed and playing poker. Let's just say the stakes were pretty. Uh, that's so cringey. That's a dad joke. That's Yeah. Yeah. I have to say that's a good one. Even though it's not It's Yeah, that's, that's a dad joke. Even he liked it. you know, uh, that was, yeah, that was a good one. Check it up for three, for three. Um, did you get a chance to check out the, uh, data draft poll results today? Uh, I looked earlier, earlier. I think you were at like 60 to 40, somewhere around there. Yeah. I have a slight, uh, lead on you right now. It's 54 to 46%. Ooh. hold up a little bit. Yeah, hold up. Um, I'm actually a little disappointed that it wasn't bigger, to be honest. Uh, I don't see how it could have been. Yeah. I thought this would be more lopsided, especially how fast I, uh, got to a big lead. But I guess there's people out there that respect Al Bundy as a, as a father figure. Oh, he's a great father figure. He'll do anything for his kids. Um, you know what, today I actually looked up to, cuz I was like, I, so I watched parks and Recs all the way through, um mm-hmm. once. I haven't, it's not like the office where I throw that on in the background and I watched it like numerous times. But, um, I didn't remember Ron being a dad, so I was like, how long was he a dad on the show? Do you remember what season it. I wanna say season three. Let me google her real quick. Um, I already know what it is because I looked it up today. Oh, okay. Hold on. Uh, I wanna go three or four. No, season six, episode 15. And then just for the record, I stand proudly with all of the stepdads out there. That can't be easy. Oh, definitely. That's so, I'm very proud to have him on. That has nothing to do with this conversation. No, I was just saying, uh, I don't remember. When I think of the show, I don't think of him as a dad. I don't remember him as a dad. Step dad step. Still a dad. We didn't use S word. We don't use S word around here. Have you seen those videos? Uh, I think I've seen again too, like Facebook and Instagram. This is why I don't like, I'm so afraid of like social media because the second you look at something, that's it. You're, that's all an hour's gone by Yeah. So, uh, no, but I saw like, uh, look, a year ago I saw a video of, it was like basically these three kids asking their moms. well, I, I thought it was maybe her, her, her husband, but it could have just been boyfriend. But they basically asked him to like, adopt him, and I thought that was pretty cool. Like basically he raised them, he helped raise them like their, their whole lives, their whole childhood. And so like they, um, they'd had like a little thing in his backyard and they presented him like, I guess it was his birthday and. it's a card red, like, would you adopt us? And he like broke down crying and it was, it was a pretty cool video. And so I get those, all my timeline from time to time. So I just think that's pretty cool. Like especially feel like, I guess like, like I said, being a stepdad, uh, that can't be easy. I can only imagine. Oh, definitely not. That would be definitely lot. And I've seen a couple of those clips too. I've seen both where the kids break down and they're crying and happy and where the dad breaks down crying, happy and it's awesome. I love seeing those, those, those are great videos you wanna talk about or you wanna tell everyone about, like, uh, tonight's podcast topic, tonight's talk or podcast, top top app. Let's try that again. Tonight's podcast topic is, uh, gonna be about. Disney movies that we saw when we were younger that nowadays aren't maybe so as so appropriate. Um, I can think of one off the top of my head that's, uh, I get in trouble for the song that gets stuck in my head. Um, but it's just, it, it's time to change. Um, uh, the one that I think about is Peter Pan, the cartoon one. What makes the Red Man red? Yeah, I mean that obviously offensive. So basically, so I came across this article like I think like a week ago. And um, the first movie that popped in my head was Peter Pan. Uh, cuz that, that movie was, uh, I think we watched it with Danny. I wanna say it was, if it was, I'm pretty sure it was during the pandemic, but for sure May last year, uh, no later than last year. I mean, that movie, it's so sexist and racism, like the way that they, he he's around the Native Americans and how, you know, he is to Wendy, you know, like telling her like, girls talk to, to shut up girls talk too much. It's just, it's really cringey. Um, have, well first let's start here. Have you ever. has your kids seen like those old Disney movies? Yes. Um, bad Parent? Yeah. Okay. I'm just kidding. kidding. Boom. He failed Um, no. Yeah, they f Actually it's funny cuz um, just ironically, uh, the other day, kill Killian, uh, my oldest son was singing, um, what Makes The Red Man Red? I was like, bud, we, we can't, we can't sing that song. He's a y. It's just, it might hurt some people's feelings, um, cuz you know, the people they're referring to, they don't like being called, you know, you know, red face or anything like that. So you kind of, it's, it's just not nice, especially too, like, it's good that you kind of like started that dialogue with him. But it, you know, to be honest, I mean, it's. at that age, I can imagine, like it's, is it to you to have that conversation? Like, is it really gonna get through, through to him? But I think by you having that conversation, it kind of gets the ball rolling. So I kind of put some, like on a alert, am I right? I, I, yeah. No, definitely. I think how we handled it was appropriate because we didn't try to get him to understand racism. We didn't get him to try to understand, you know, the, too much of the definition behind it. We just just told him, Hey, hey, this kind of, you know, makes fun of somebody not nice, so we probably just shouldn't do it. And so we just got this the main point across. And then like you said, like you got the dialogue open about, oh, so some people do say things about other people that aren't polite or nice and you shouldn't say. Yeah. And then also too, like, um, also like where did I put the list? Did I know you were looking for the article, but did you see the lists that you came out with? Um, let's see here. Okay, so we'll do this real quick. Um, as far as like, okay, I see the list right here. All right, so number 10. Um, do you remember that movie ever sent for story three? Oh, I, I think they're referring to the way the, what's his name? The, the Pink Bear. Um, how he kind of like, he gets Miss Potatohead talking. He kind of like rips her lips off and like, and he has like a comment and then like everyone kind of like chuckles and I think that's what they're probably referring to. I could imagine that's the scene cuz I don't. I don't recall, uh, any other scenes being like a little bit controversial. Um, so that was number 10. Um, number nine, which I don't think has a lot of inappropriate, um, scenes, but it does, does talk about death and that's Bambi. Um, um, number three, uh, number seven, which is interesting cuz I was, the more I read about like this subject. this was like the number one movie that kind of popped up where everyone was, had, had a problem with and it was The Little Mermaid. Um, and I know like in the past there's been like some controversial, uh, scenes as far as, um, I guess sex is concerned, but I guess the, the premise of the movie is, uh, how a woman is waiting for a man to. To rescue her. You know what I mean? It's not like that, but a woman uses her body and not her words. Yeah, exactly. Was was another big, big topic on that, which I mean, I don't know. I. People that people are already too much into it. No, I mean there's, there's certain things that is obviously there, but I mean, I don't know. When you were a kid, from what you remember, even growing up as you watched this movie, did you watch this movie? Like, Abdu, this is totally sexist. Like there, like, you know, or did you kind of just have that innocence of like, oh, she's a mermaid, she lost her voice, she's trying to get it back. Like this kind of followed the story, I guess. No. I was like, this is sexy. This is awesome. This is the greatest thing ever. Okay. This is awesome. Uh, no, uh, for me, I mean, to be honest, like first time I saw a Little Mermaid, what did it for me was the songs. I was like, oh, these are like, these are really good songs. And again, I, it's like watching and I kind of thought that way with, uh, who was it again? Pandemic. Um. We were watching, I forgot what movie we were watching, but basically it's like, it's like princess theme now. Every girl should believe they are and should be treated like they're a princess. Um, but at the same time too, it's like you kind of want them to kind of want my daughter to know. Like she doesn't have to depend on anyone else. You know, she can do things for herself if, uh, I think that's the way I want her to live her life. You know what I mean? Like just, right. Yeah. So, uh, it's kinda like, what would you say, uh, I guess the question is now is like, do you, is it okay for your kids to see these movies like number one, um, number one I have never seen in stumble and not supposed to be really controversial. Um, I don't know why. I think that was just wanted to deal with some racism. Like it had like crows as like pretty much John Crow, like as like, they're obviously black voices would be black characters and Okay. They just, yeah, it had some racism in there and then obviously it dealt with animal cruelty and stuff like. Okay, that makes sense. But to be honest with you, I haven't seen that movie in years, so I don't really remember all of it. I'm sure this part, do you remember a good part of it? Those are just some of the parts. I remember that people having an issue with Peter Pan. I was watching Peter Pan when Danny during the Pandemic, and it was like, what are we watching? And I actually think she kind of just was like, okay, uh, this is. Boring. Now I'm gonna go play with my toys. And I was like, thank God. turned it off. um, uh, beauty of the Beast? I don't really, I don't know. I have no idea. Uh, is that one, I would assume. I will say this. I remember there was like a story online or beauty. They had like a bunch of Disney movies. uh, but they were like booking. And so I'm like, oh, well this is pretty cool. Let me get this for Dani. And I could read her bedtime stories, new bedtime stories, uh, when I tucked her into bed and I was reading her this story and basically the way they set it up and the story was that, uh, uh, is it Bell? That's her name, right? Uh, yeah. Her dad sells her to the. And so, and I'm like, I don't remember that in the movie cuz they only watched it like one time. Right. So, uh, is that, is that No. So what hap No, what happens is the dad's supposed to go to this like, uh, inventor's, like convention center type of thing to show off the convention he made, he gets lost. And then he, it's cold. It's like wintertime. So he finds, he stumbles upon the castle that has the beast in there, but he has no idea. It's just a castle. So he's just looking to get out there with cold and um, the beast comes across him and says he is trespassing and is holding him prisoner. Um, Val goes looking for him, finds a castle, and then sees he's in prison and she tells the beast like, I'll take his place cuz the day I got. So if he stood there, he was gonna die. So she takes his place. Okay. Yeah, I mean, to be honest with you, the story that you have is probably the real story cuz a lot of these stories stem from like really dark stories normally, like, just like lullabies and like old kids, like songs and stuff. What did you watch that uh, Randy, the Poo that came out like a few months ago, maybe. I think it was this past. No, I did not. So there's this, uh, I forgot what movie theater, uh, movie company it was, but they basically found a loophole in the winning the pool story. Like basically it was more like a, a loophole of the, of the copyright infringement. So they were basically think they were able to turn it into, uh, a horror movie. Uh, one of the pool was like a, uh, a murder. And if you watch the, I like watching the trailer, but it's not a movie I would wanna see because it's just gonna ruin it for me. But like, um, no, like the trailer, he's walking back to his, uh, he's in the woods walking back to his, uh, his tree house. But then you see like, um, you see Piglet's name, you see E's name, you see blood, and uh, you see like a, a, a body and. The name tag, these Christopher Robin and you see like these honey pots of honey and it was just like very creepy and dark. And uh, again, I didn't have any desire to watch it, but I saw the trailer one time and I was like, interesting. But no, thank you. I'll check that out. I'll look into that. But like, I know like some of the dark stories like, um, Cinderella, I think the sisters like. in the dark version, they like, literally like cut their feet to try to get it to fit in the slipper. Like it's, yeah, it's, it's pretty brutal. So a lot of these stories, they stand from pretty dark storytelling. Yeah. Yeah. To me, I don't know. To me it's a, it's more about, it's how you take that, it's kind of go backwards. You said earlier it's about, You take in the context of the film and like, again with, I saw most of these movies when I was a kid and nothing raised my, my eyebrow, nothing caught my attention. Like, oh, wait a minute, that's wrong, or that's, that's bad. And, um, me personally, like if Danny wants to watch it or if any, if Alec wants to watch. um, you know, I would let them, uh, you know, I saw'em, you know, nothing bad happened to me, like nothing. It didn't change my beliefs. Uh, looking back on it now, I, yeah, those are, are, are, I guess it was a different time. I actually kind of don't like that saying it was a different time. Uh, I think it's like a poor excuse. in reality, it, it, it really was. You know what I mean? Like Yeah. Yeah. That's, I I'm in the same boat with you. I feel like, because I mean, growing up I remember liking Peter Pan and watching it several times, and I don't think I ever took away from it like, oh, girls shouldn't really talk, or girls shouldn't have a say or anything like that. Right. I mean, I think it ultimately comes down to how you're brought up and more content around, you know, what you're exposed to. Now as an adult, we can read into that. Um, and I'm sure some people are gonna say it's politically getting the message across to the kids of that. But, um, again, like it could, I guess, but I think it comes down to, is. you know, are the parents Yeah. Raising the kids to have that mentality or be okay with that mentality. Because I mean, if, like, for example, if one of my sons told me like, oh yeah, this girl's talking, I told her to stop talking too much cuz you know, girls shouldn't talk so much. Like, I'm gonna correct'em. Like, no dude, like what's the matter with you? Like that's, that's not okay to think. And so, yeah, so I don't know. It's, I. I don't think anyone's right or wrong as far as you don't want your kids to watch it, that's totally fine. But as far as me, I believe I'm in the same boat with you if they wanna watch it. Yeah, that's fine. If like, for you, you like the songs, that's totally cool. Um, again, I'm a big musical guy. I want to monitor, you know, how my kids perceive things and kind of make sure to steer them in the right direction. If like, if they start getting those I ideologies from the movies, then yeah, that's when I think we need to, you know, stop watching or start watching a little closely of what we watch and stuff like that. Yeah. So like, again, I have no problems with the kids watching the movie. Now. I might wait, I might wait a little bit longer for if I have a redo, like let's. if I can like go back and like maybe not put on Peter Pan during the pandemic and now maybe let her watch it now for the first time, or, um, maybe like in a year or two. And then we can have like a discussion about it if she had any questions or maybe like she might laugh at an inappropriate joke that I could explain to her what that meant and it gets it down. It's kind of like a little blessing in disguise, like with. and your son, um, about the Peter Pan watching the, the Native Americans. Like how you were saying like, uh, like he was laughing and there's no harm. You know, like, you know, he's a sweet boy but has got the ball rolling for you guys to have that discussion and Right. He wasn't even laughing at like the fact that they were calling the rib man. He was just singing the song. No, he was laughing. He said he was laughing. You said he was laughing hysterically. Wow. Um, so yeah, so he, he loves music, so he just, he was singing the song and I was just kinda like, Hey brother, maybe that's not the best song we could be singing. I will say this though. I think it's gonna, I think I'm gonna watch Dumbo now. Dumbo, I've never had, I've never had an interest in watching double. Um, but I think now I. I'm gonna, I'm kind of curious about it. And so I think it's gonna be on the, the list, uh, put on the, I I've been meeting to watch the remake of it, the live version of it, because I want to see what they did to kind of steer away from the original. Uh, yeah. And I know some of these, uh, I know some of these boobies now you can't. Watch it on certain profiles on Disney Plus it has to be like under the parents' profile to watch this movie, so. Oh, okay. Yeah. Yeah. And I'm pretty sure Peter Pan has to be one of'em. And so I don't know, I honestly, I think I've seen Peter Pan on my kids' profile, but I could be mistaken. It could be when I go into my, yeah. Yeah. So like, you know, for those you don't remember these, you know, some of, of these storylines could be a little intense. Um, so you might want to just tread lightly, uh, when introducing'em to your kids. Uh, but like I said, the toy story three, I think it was just like that one joke, that one scene. Um, and so, you know, it's, it's a shame that they don't go more into details on. As far as like why they need the list, because I mean, uh, Fantasia, right? What I mean, do you, what can you think of that is why that's on the list? Fantasia? I've seen it. I've seen it. How many, what did I see it? I've seen a handful of times when I was younger. Really? I mean, yeah. Um. I know like at times it could be a little scary. Um, maybe with the music and the, just the way it's presented, I don't know. Um, I would have to go back and watch it, but that would be my guess. Yeah, I mean, I don't know cuz the only things that come to mind when I think about that movie is obviously Mickey. With the SORs hat on and controlling the mops and you know, obviously getting outta control there. Um, and then the, uh, hippos dancing with the alligators. Um, I think those are pretty much like some of the iconic scenes from that. And then, uh, the big demonn, uh, character that, um, he's pretty intimidating, but again, I'm, when I was a kid, I just remember. the music being more overpowering than just the actual figure. Cuz it's not like he's like doing anything scary per se. It's just, I remember the music just being so impacted by the music that was playing. But um, yeah, so I was, I don't see reading right now that I was reading right now and it said about the toy story three and. there's some scary dialogue throughout the movie, especially at the, uh, at the end when they're, when you know, they're, well, not when you know, but when it looks like they're gonna die at the garbage yard, the junkyard and, uh, but isn't a scary dialogue. So isn't that just a great setup though? Yeah. Yeah. I mean, when we saw it, when Danny and I saw it and it was like a joke all summer, cuz that's when we had, um, it was picture fests at Disney, Disneyland and we had our annual passes at the time. And so like every time we would go, we'd like, we'd look at each other and we'd be like, the claw, you know, that would, that's from that scene. So I mean, yeah, it could be scary. And I know for the first time I saw it I'm like, holy crap. I. I didn't know they were making a four, by the way, when I first saw three, but I'm like, are they really gonna die? Nope. That's all wrong. Uh, All right, so, so yeah, I mean, I think that's, we made it perfectly clear, you know, how, you know as dads, you know, obviously when it comes to these movies, I think. probably should watch'em with your kid and not let them watch'em by themselves, just because you know, you wanna be there to, you know, try to catch something that, that might be a little inappropriate. Right, right, right. Okay. And um, yeah, were, were you gonna go talk on any of the other films or was that, those, the ones that you really wanted to touch? No, that was it. I mean, just wanted to go through the list and I think we hit majority of it. So I think we're, we're good. And I think we made our point, you know, like I said, um, you know, would you let our, would we let our kids watch'em? Yes. Would we watch you with'em? Of course. Should discussions be had on certain parts? I think so. Um, so like I could also respect parents that, you know, what, we're gonna let them wait a certain age, um, whatever, you know, everyone, parents different. So like, if they're gonna wait a certain age to introduce these films to their kids, I could also respect that too. So, um, you know, I see the, the, the benefits of both sides. And like I said, those are the ones who do watch it, who do introduce the, these movies to their kids. it could be a good thing. Cause again, it gets the, the, the dis discussion started. And plus too, you know, you're, it, it really opens up a, a nice dialogue with you and, uh, your kids. And then they open up to you and they feel more comfortable talking to you about more stuff. So, uh, I know it's always hard to make that first step, but this could be a good first step. First step is worth it. definitely worth it. All right, so just fyi, uh, Uhhuh, it's just a little sidebar. I just had an update right now. It looks like we're 50 50 on dad draft. Oh, who did you get to vote for you? I didn't get anyone. I just saw that, yeah, we got a message and I got a notification. I looked. Yeah. And all of a sudden we're fitty fitty. You obviously text somebody to, to see. So sad that you had to go to, to think that somebody would resort to. Randy Madrid, you text Randy. You think I would text Randy to vote on that? Yes. As a Bengals fan, yes, he would. He did not see me suffer. I actually lost a bet to him. Did you Elizabeth? I am gonna get him a bottle of Jamerson. There you go. Yeah. So, all right, so did we go on to this week's dad? I think. I think it's about time for that. Yeah. All right, so this week's dad draft is da da da da Disney dads. So last week was favorite TV show dads, and this week is Disney Dads Paja. Do you a favor since, because how many have you won? I've won. At least one, and I think, I wanna say maybe two. Um, false. I've actually looked at all the dad drafts today and you've won nothing, so it's not accurate at all. What I'm gonna, you don't even have a record post, post post on the Instagram. It is posted on Instagram. You go the stories and you can see all our archives. Dad drafts. All right. I. So what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna give you the first pick. I'll take the second pick, and then you can have the next pick after that. So we just flip block. So just go back and forth. Just go back and forth. All right. That's to me my gift to you. All right. All right. So go ahead. So to start it off, And I'm really trying to think of all the dads now. um, I'll go to classic Mufasa. Okay. Lion King was not long in the film, but was impactful. How do you spell that? Mufasa, M U F A A. All right. Sorry. You Googling it over there. What's going on? No, hold on. Using one of your lifelines asking for help? No. Okay. I'm gonna go with King Titan Triton from Little Mermaid, king Triton. Okay. Aerial. A bit of an angered issue, but I Okay. Oh, I see. I see your eyes on your phone. Oh, yes, my eyes are on my phone. Yeah. Peter, do you want me to keep my hands up? I mean this work for you better? Um, I'm gonna go with Marlon. Nemo Who? Marlon. The Clownfish. Have you heard the theory about Lil Nemo? No. That he, that I guess Nemo wasn't real, that he died when all the brothers and sisters went and got attacked in the beginning of the movie. And Marlon just had like a breakdown because Nemo I think is. Some other language for no one. So Uhhuh, movies names, finding no one, and it's just, yeah, Marley having to each mental episode and just on the search for this son that passed away. Okay. Okay. I'm gonna go with Mr. Incredible ballpark. That's a good one. That's a great one. Tight. Okay. Back to you. Mm. Uh, let's go with, um, I can't think of his name, but I could see his face. What movie? And it's not someone that I want to pick, it's just, I can't think of anybody else. what? What movie? Oh, the only one comes to mind right now is, uh, is Alad and Jasmine's dad, the Soer, or not the Soer? The, uh, the Emperor. Um, okay. I can't think of I give'em to you. I'll give them to you. Oh, jasmines dad, right? Don't even wanna do that one. Huh? Jasmine? Jasmine's dad? Yeah. All right. Okay. I'm gonna go with uh, white man James. It was, uh, tee Tiana's, uh, dad and Princess and The Frog, one of Danny's favorite movies. So, ah, I've seen that movie once and it was a good one. It's gonna be the new Splash Mountain, right? Is it really? Oh, that's right. I think I heard that. So like in Disney World this past week, they officially closed Flash Mountain, but like the lines was chaotic the last. For, uh, space Mountain. Now it looks like Disneyland's probably gonna come to an end, I think in the next month or two. Uh, they'll start the, the new ride for it. Still gonna be the, the, the same ride, but different thing. Hmm. Okay. Last pick. Last pick. Uhhuh. gonna go. Goofy. Goofy movie. Oh, I forgot about that. I that's, I was trying to get this in. Yeah. Good feeling. I remember liking that movie a lot. I think you might want it this week. Although I think there was one other like, uh, time where I was like, oh, John's wanted he, this is over and you messed that up. So, uh, he's got nothing. I don't, he's got nothing. I don't, I don't. I think you want it right there. Um, I'll let you call somebody and ask them if he's the lifeline. Uh, was it Kaman you were thinking of? Don't, I can't think of what his name was. I just know him as Jasmine's dad. Uh, they call em Emperor. Emperor. I'm gonna look it up now. Yeah. By you sometimes, you know, you're not supposed to be thinking of my pick. Right. You're supposed to be thinking of your next pick. Yeah, I know. Um, stop searching I think I wanna go with the dad from Moana. What's his name? My name's Chief two. It two have to look it up. Chief something. The chief. Let's see. Oh, there's so many good dads there. They haven't as Salton. Actually, can I change it to King Fergus? Sure. From who's that? Brave. Okay. Oh, from Brave? Yeah, from Brave, yeah. Ah, that's a solid. He's an awesome dad. All right. I think with Mufasa and Goofy, I think you might win your first stat drop. That's already happened and so. Good luck. You have still have some more time left. Um, you might win this week. We'll see. Yeah. So in, in the characters it just hasn't as, as Saltan. Okay. So they don't really have a name for him. All right. So, uh, anything else you want to add? Um, I think that was it. Yeah. All right. Uh, so if you are listening to this, obviously it's gonna be too late to vote for this week's dad trap for for best TV dads. So when you're listening to this, we did not lose by the way. Well, it's not over yet. I can get more votes. Uh, you would text more. You go to go to our Instagram to vote for. best Disney Dads. And who do you think we won? And then also let us know if we've missed anybody, uh, if we missed one of your favorite dads. Um, it's, uh, fortune G, dad, six at Instagram. John, you got a fun talk. I do have fun. Um, yeah, feel free to, to make any suggestions as far as fun fact for the episode. Um, Daniel, I'm sure you already know. The ocean covers about 70% of the Earth's surface, right? Something like that. It's common knowledge. If you didn't know that, this is two facts, fun facts. Um, I didn't know this number, which is pretty crazy, but, um, the ocean hosts about 94% of the Earth's wildlife. Isn't that like a pretty ridiculous number? 94% of the wildlife is in the ocean. Okay. Is that that that has No like kind of like, wow. Like you would've thought the animal would've been smaller. Cuz there's so many animals on land, it's just 94% that shows you like how vast the ocean is. It's just, it's crazy. And what I find even a little more crazy. uh, we're venturing out to space and even further, further out to space. We don't even know all the depths in the ocean. We haven't even explored all of the oceans. Okay. Okay, well, I thought this, I thought that was an interesting fact, but, uh, but yeah, so the, those are fun. Fact. All right. Thank you, John. I know I laughed, so it was fun. All right guys. Thank you for listening and goodnight day. Awesome. From John and I for jail. I from John, and I don't go changing.
