Dads, Are You Seeing Your Doctor ?
Hello everybody and welcome to another episode of Four two Dad six podcasts. I'm Daniel here with my little brother, John. Hello. Another week. How's it? How's it been?
Jon:Exhausting. I can't even stress how exhausting it's been. Hold that
Daniel:thought. Hold that thought. I just want to say there's gonna be some confusion because we're gonna be releasing two episodes back to back. Pop. Pow. Last, we recorded last week and I didn't I edited but I didn't like the way it sound, but, I'm gonna go ahead and just reduce it anyways, just to get the ball rolling. So you're gonna see back to back episodes this week or just say this weekend. So yeah, so you were saying John, before I cut
Jon:you off, so some would say June's gonna start off with a big bang. There you go. Lucky
Daniel:listeners. Oh, happy Pride month. Oh, happy Pride.
Jon:Let's see. So last weekend we it was a holiday weekend. We went camping over in San DMIs Bute Bluff, I believe it was called. Beautiful campgrounds. Kids had
Daniel:blast. Now was this like, was this hardcore camping or was this like what McCullough, where they have the amenities and stuff?
Jon:So the, we we took our tr our trailer, our rv. They had hookups. So we had electricity. We had plumbing. I'm not sure if that's what you're referring to, but yeah, it wasn't hardcore. As far as tent camping, that would be pretty rough with three little ones. But RV Campings, we have a fifth wheel and it's, it makes a world difference of, going camping. It's awesome. If you guys, if anybody out, there's on the fence of thinking about getting a travel trailer or a fifth wheel, it's. It's pretty, it's fun. It's a little scary as far as parking and whatnot, but once you get used to it, you're, it's you down. But it's, it makes camping so much easier, especially with little kids. You have the bathroom there, the shower there, you get them into bed early or a on regular time and it's awesome. I highly recommend it
Daniel:now, but this is coming from a dad whose camper tipped over while driving correct. No. Or did it come off or something? Correct. I thought you said one time that it came off or it like almost tipped over. No, I remember a story. Don't be shy. I. Trying to think of the water. I'm trying to think, I'm trying to think of this story that you're telling. I'll
Jon:never hear someday if you wanna share the story? Are we a little
Daniel:nervous? No. There was one
Jon:time where, oh, it's going from the trailer. The trailer was it was rocking a little bit from a bump, but it never was like tipping over or anything like that. But it's it makes camping much more fun, and it's cheaper than going to a hotel for several nights. With the family. And he gets a bond with, nature and whatnot, s'mores, all that fun stuff. And that's another great thing about a trailer. You have a kitchen in there so you could make stuff that you normally wouldn't make if you were tent camping. So yeah, it's pretty awesome.
Daniel:Yeah, it definitely gets the kids outta the house. I can see how it can be productive and fun and, get the kids a change of scenery. My daughter's a big outdoors person and so's my wife. And last year, it was last summer. It was just basically like we have to go camping. And we went with you guys one time, had a blast, but we never went to we never went again. Actually I just got today is my happy birthday, Brandy, my oldest sister-in-law and happy birthday. They were supposed to go they live in Oregon and they were supposed to go camping this weekend and they actually booked this trip pretty like a few months ago. So they were pretty excited while they got an invitation. Oh not invitation, but they got a notification from the campsite this morning. Campgrounds are closed due to too much snow. Oh, so it's, yeah, they live in, up in Oregon and I guess they've been having a lot of snow up there and, So they That's rough. Got canceled. Yeah. So that sucks. But I'm pretty sure they're gonna figure out how to have a good time this weekend. I know my other sister-in-law just bought a new house with the pole and it, they've been running their their pole heater nonstop, so I'm sure they're have a blast.
Jon:Weekend I was gonna tell you, we should you should go out with us again and next time we could go somewhere that's a bit more woodsy. Cause I know one of the times you went out with us, it was a San Diego camp line at the Bay, which is cool, but that's not, that woodsy, it
Daniel:was interesting. I won't get into it, but yeah, I missed the first couple days, which was a disappointment. But the last day, we had fun. Yeah, the only thing I didn't really care for is, not, wasn't the spot itself, but it was just it seemed like everywhere you went there was like a lot of people, it was like, especially like the beach and stuff but yeah we're open to. To going again. Actually I don't think I told you this. We got a new car this weekend going where we had a, we got a new car. We what this weekend? What? Yeah. So we traded in our 2018 Dodge Edge, they were offering The dealership was offering more than what it was worth. So suckers. Yeah. So we went to so we went in and we wanted to hear him out. And you think he would've been proud of me. Played hardball with these guys.
Jon:Did you slide the offer across the table on
Daniel:a piece of paper. Gotcha. Got those guys right where I want them and we came away with a new car. But it was see we never bought a new car. We've always bought used. And usually when you go into a CarMax or Enterprise, the price is already set. We don't right. There's no back and forth. This one was used, so we brought the kids actually, cuz we just went in for a question, more questions than anything. We did look at some cars and the first car we looked at is the one we got, but we were getting ready to walk out and of course, they brought. The manager out and what can I do? And we're like this is pretty much, if we're gonna do this, it has to be at this number, this price. And he's Hey, what if you pay this much, but I throw in this? And we're like, no, we're pretty firm on what we're gonna do. And so we went through the whole process and by then it's now it's three hours into it, kids are getting grumpy. Hungry and we just kept telling our oldest, you
Jon:buy my kids happy meals and we you keep this negotiating going.
Daniel:So we promised her in and out and she was like, okay. We told her like, we're just finishing signing the papers and we sign the papers, they take us outside, we do the walkthrough, we load the kids in the brand new car, and I turn on the car. And I can't get the gear to shift. It doesn't start. And so I'm like, what the, what's going on? Hey, my man, now my kids are getting grumpy because they're like strapped into the car seats and my wife is going through the manual. I'm on YouTube seeing if there's something I'm missing. So I had to go let them know what was happening. They said, oh, we've probably forgot to release this, the security clearance. Let me just hold on one second. I'm like, oh, okay. That makes sense. At least I know it wasn't me. And then they come back 10 minutes later and they're like, we've figured out the problem. We inputted the wrong VIN number. This isn't your VIN number. So you're gonna have to come back and do all the paperwork all over again. Oh yeah. And so they can see the kids were like upset, grumpy. They did a good job of trying to maintain the situation or the person that was working with us, she was like, if there's anything I can do to make this right, let me know. Cut that price down. That's what you make a sherry That's what I said. So they had this conversation when I was in the restroom and oh, you never
Jon:go to the restroom when you're negotiated.
Daniel:You should know that. When I got back, Sherry told me and she's I want what do you call'em? All weather mats for the car. And I'm like, that's what you want me to ask for all weather mats? She's yeah, honestly,
Jon:Those are actually worth it. I have weather mats in my truck and when kids spill or whatnot, it's worth
Daniel:it. So I go back. I don't go back, but I go to the person, I'm like, excuse me. Okay, so we were talking it over. We would really appreciate if you could throw in. All weather mats at, she's oh yeah, that's, yeah, that's easy. We can definitely do that. No, came with that. That was yeah. But no, they came through and like I said, they they gots the kids snacks. She, I also went to the vending machine, got a little bit more so they can hold'em over and. Got outta the new car, went to Inn out, came home and crashed. Yeah, so that's was our Saturday. And then Sunday, congratulations to our God daughter Layla for scoring the winning goal to send her to. That was amazing kick. Yeah, it was good. So she's she's come a long way. She wasn't, I don't know if if we talked to our sister Mel. She The team they played in the first game, cause they had two games that Saturday we went to the fir first one and it was a one one tie and usually we like to give her space if she has a second game. But we had her birthday present. And so we stood off to the side and we could hear the coach and our coach wasn't too happy. And when they broke the, when they, when they left the bench area all the girls were just very upset. And I've never seen Layla like so irritated at somebody before. And but she came through and unfortunately they lost the next game, but. Yeah. It is what it is. But, we're proud of her. She's playing every game as, giving her all, and, we can't be happy. Although it was hilarious cuz our brother-in-law he has an opinion about everything that goes on the soccer field. And it was the other team, they were dri they were passing the ball and they. Hit a through ball and the first thing you hear is our brother-in-law off sides. And the ref looks at him and our brother-in-law says oh, you're right. Yeah, it was good. Yeah. No, just kidding. Oh, good eye. And cuz the guy at the referee was this big guy. Not you could tell who works out a lot and you could tell whenever our brother-in-law had a comment, the guy who was very nice just gave him a luck and. You could tell our Sergio backtracked on his on his statement. So
Jon:what are you looking at me for? The game's over there,
Daniel:but it's yeah, it's been it's been interesting cause these last couple days have the little ones a little sick right now. It's got an infection, so which begin to like fever and vomiting and he's congested. So I took him to Urgent Care. I dread going to urgent care ERs. Never fun, but no, but I will shut out to Kaiser though today. We were in and out. They were busy and yeah, we were probably in and out in like in a half hour, nice. Wow. Kudos in there. Usually where we, where John and I live this Kaiser's. I think it's revert to like, as the busiest Kaiser in the state of California. And so they have really long wait times in their ERs and urgent cares. And so when when it was decided that I was gonna be the one to take'em today, I was like, Ugh, it's gonna be a long day. But wasn't too bad was made in time for tip off of the nuggets. Like it's heat game. So did you watch a game tonight? I did not. I somehow, I, you're forgot, and I know you're a basketball junkie,
Jon:so I'll catch the highlights. I don't know. I used to be in successful, I couldn't appreciate it, but I just feel like if I catch the last five minutes that normally lasts like an hour I, that's where all the actions at.
Daniel:So I know a lot of you are wondering about the picture I posted last week of my hamstring, and you saw how we saw how busted, how black and blue it was. And I got that playing basketball, which you can hear on the last podcast of what happened. So I won't go into too much details. But tonight I was supposed to play, but I sat out. I was questionable. And decided not to push it. We were playing the last place team so I had a talk with the captain last week and he was like, we're playing the last place team next week, so if you wanna rest it and then come back. We'll make a run at this. Why don't you grab some pine there, chap? Yeah. Yeah. Pretty much. He's like, why don't you sit on the bench or drink? Come to the game with gas. The gas with gas the way it is. Why don't you just, stay home and take care of the family and we got it from here. We'll call you if we need you. Don't call us. Start waiting for the text and. It was an eight 30 tip off. I don't think so.
Jon:So I was gonna ask you about that because obviously you know a little more about medical things than I do. So you pull your hamstring that's the muscle straining and it contrasts it's muscle to three muscles, right? And it contracts tighter to protect itself from ripping. So when it bruises, there's normally blood in underneath the skin, and that's what that discoloring is. Did something rip
Daniel:or, I don't know. I didn't go to the doctors. Didn't need to. So here's the interesting fact about what happened. I heard a lot pop and it did hurt, but it wasn't that bad, right? And so I remember walking to the car and it felt like something was just like dangling on the back of my thigh, which is if they said normal. And so something we've all experienced every day. We've all been there. And I came home, iced it, and once it was wrapped in Ace bandage, it felt okay. I am not gonna lie. And I was able to do now certain moves, you could feel like a certain strain. And so like I didn't really push it. And so this actually also say this happened a few weeks ago, so I played the following week, but I wrapped it real tight and I was honest with my team. I'm like, look, I'm not gonna do anything. I'm just gonna be up and down, grab rebounds. Unless I'm open, don't pass me the ball cuz you know, I'm gonna call for it. But don't pass it, don't pass it to me. It was that scene in it's actually cuz of the movie. What's the one with the Will Ferrells basketball? Semipro. It's semipro. It was like from that scene where he is okay, gimme the ball. All right, move back. All right, give back. I don't like it. I don't like it. Yeah. Last week. Okay, so we go to last week, and so now we're like three weeks out and I'm like, it's feeling pretty good. It's feeling pretty good. I'm stretchy. I don't feel anything. I'm doing my back pedals, my crisscross side to side, and it feels good. And this is when I knew I was in trouble. I'm very superstitious when it comes to sports and usually when I have a really good warmup, something bad's gonna happen. Tennis court, whatever it is, and it's just whenever I have a good warmup, I mean they're gonna be at my worst or something. Bad's gonna happen really? And yeah. And so I'm warming up. And I'm shooting a few three switch. Switch. And no matter I just can't miss, and not only can I miss, I'm hitting like nothing but the net on every single shot. And I'm like, uhoh, something's gonna happen. And sure enough, about four minutes into the game, I do a post move and I felt something. It felt like something just ripped. On the back of my thigh. And so that's where I'm at. Been resting for the last couple weeks, but we'll give it a go. I'm at that point right now though too. I feel like I have full range. But again, I work in the rehab field and this is it should also be noted that this basketball league is nothing but physical therapists and occupational therapists. And so when they saw like my leg, they're like, that's a gray three tear. You should not be walking. Like it should be very painful for you to have any movement the way that looks. And I, my response is I think my body's too dumb to realize something's bad's going on and cuz I honestly don't feel anything. I feel like I can put full weight, I can jump on it. You guys are joking with me. Okay. I get it. Yeah so right now it's just resting, stretching. I'm gone on the bike. We have a stationary bike at home. So I'm gonna give it a go next week and we will, we'll see what happens. But yeah. So let me ask you this, Jonas, being a dad, are you a little bit more self cautious, I guess you would say? About your health? So like for for example, like for me personally, back in my single days and even like when I was dating my wife and we got married, I never really went to the doctors. Okay. But now with, I don't know if it's the fact it's. Covid or the fact that I'm a dad, it feels like I should go to the doctors every year for my checkup. Or if something's not gonna feel right, I should probably go see my doctor. And figure out if we're okay. Like I'm a little, I don't wanna say self paranoid, but I just feel like it's more, I guess it's being responsible. I don't know. Being cautious.
Jon:Yeah. I would say is probably the best term. Yeah, definitely. Now that now that I'm getting older and also being a dad, cuz. Excuse me, I've gone for the past, like 2, 2, 3 years now for an annual physical checkup and just make sure everything's working decently. And I never would've done that before I was a dad in my twenties. Never did it. Probably should have, but never have. And I think it's just a mixture of. Being a dad and wanna make sure you're okay to be a, you're gonna be around for your kids. And then also I notice it's just getting older. Like my body doesn't respond to things as it used to. Like for example, like we pull a hamstring, we used to normally, give it at the most a week or two, and then we'd be good. And now you pull a hamstring, it's like a month and it's okay, that. That's is Thisor than I thought it was. Yeah. I think it's a mixture of the two, but I think it's just being cautious and just I mean I think it's both looking out for yourself, but looking out for your kids too. Cuz like you said, you want to be around Yeah. To play with your kids, be there for your
Daniel:kids and all that stuff. That's, yeah. And that's true. When it was weird, like when Covid first came on a board. Usually Sherry's the more pizza planner. She hears something, okay, we have to plan for this. And for some reason I was like no. We have to be on, not on lockdown, but we have to be ready in case something happens. And and sure enough, it hit us real fast. But I don't know if it was that or because. We got hit with Covid and like luckily no symptoms, we were fine. But it just got me thinking and I think of the fact like he said something right now, like we're a little bit older. Like we lost our dad at a and he was a young age. She was actually probably. 42, 43. I wanna say. I think it was 43. Yeah. So not that I'm not far from that number. And then two, it's, the reality is that I've, not anyone personally that I was close to, but I've known people Who died, like around, who passed away, like around the age of 40. And yeah. So it's a scary time. And plus too, it's and again, I think you hit the nail on yeah, we're not as young as, we're used to. We can't be that naive, we gotta take our health very seriously. Checkups. And it was interesting too, cuz like my mindset was It's not that I didn't care, but my mindset too is if something was wrong with me, would I really want to know? But now it's like I should know, should take care of it. It's if it's in the right? Yeah. Because again, too, you got people who depend on us every day. My son sh should depend on his dad to take him to urgent care. No matter if dad wants to go home and watch a basketball game he should be able to like, Hey, my dad will take me. I'm gonna get hands. Same thing with my daughter. Yeah, so for, I think it's important we all get. Looked at every year and listened to our doctors doctors could be mean. There's no, no doubt about that.
Jon:Just to spoil alerts, they're gonna tell you're fat and you need lose weight. It's a ridiculous number you're supposed to be at.
Daniel:So they think that's their answer for everything. Yeah. Yeah. But I consider myself blessed too, cuz I've actually had a couple scares now. They weren't. Serious scares, but they were scars at the end of the day. Yeah. And like that one, one time I had double vision and they didn't know what, they didn't, they couldn't understand why and they ran. Now, the good thing about that was they ran all these tests on me like twice and they couldn't detect anything. I felt good about that. And then your
Jon:insurance must have been
Daniel:pissed. The bump on my neck. The bump on my had. Oh yeah. Again nothing serious, but it could have been. But I'm glad. You know how I looked at I know it can be scary, it's for the best.
Jon:What would you say was I guess before you would go get checkup or physicals or like how you said you didn't feel right, so you went to the doctor to double check everything. Okay. Before you started to do it, did you just think, ah, fine I don't need to go, like I don't feel really anything. Or was it was it a fear? Of going to the doctors or before?
Daniel:Before, like I, before having kids, yeah. Yeah. Okay. So yeah. So if it's as sometimes as ass men we tend to like let's just shake it off. I don't know if I told you, but this one time. I had this huge spider bite on my arm. I remember that. And it was, this thing was massive. And Sherry was like, you have to go to the doctors. And I'm like, no. I just, I go, I think it's gonna be, and every day it's just my arm. She felt tighter and tighter, and I started to have fevers. And I was like I unrelated maybe just when I was like, so after a few days of this, of living in misery cuz of again trying to tough it out, quote unquote I think I a minute like, okay, maybe I should go to the doctor's. I'll do that tomorrow. And yeah, in the middle of the night it had opened up and ooh, my arm felt a lot better and. I just let it drain. I actually talked to somebody and they're like, yeah, as long as it's like it's draining and you don't, it's no, discoloring, you should be fine. And I'm like, okay. That's what I'll look out for. And then after that it was just, I never thought about it again because it was. It was okay. But I think it was just more of that mindset of okay, you gotta tough it out. You gotta, yeah. And and again, too, I never really had any out scares, but then also too, I was, if I'm being honest, I think. It was living in denial a little bit. Cuz of obviously you look at me and you're like, ah, it's a big guy. Should lose some weight. And I knew the doctor was gonna tell me that. But it's funny cuz sometimes my mindset is I still play tennis at a high level. I still play basketball at a high level. I feel good. No, seriously. No. I know.
Jon:I'm just thinking in my head tearing it up on the court, baby. What was the doctor gonna tell me?
Daniel:Just do what I do best. Do what I, and so yeah, so again, it was a little bit scared, little bit of I dunno if you want to call it like, stupidity of saying okay, I don't, as long as I don't feel anything, I don't I'm good. That's not true. That's not true at all. I, like I said, I don't, I didn't know this person, but we, Sherry and I knew knew of him and I don't wanna get into details, but he there was a pretty big lump on his body and he just ignored it, thinking it was nothing. And it's got bigger. Turned down it was cancer and. We, unfortunately we lost him about a month ago, so again, just because we can't see it or whatever, you should still go get checked up. And that's what it comes down to for me. It's like I push and I think that's part of being a parent. It's like we push our pride to the side and put our children first. No, I think that's pretty, I guess that's like a parent mental, I don't wanna say dad's mentality cuz it's my wife who's been sleeping with our son the last few nights because, he wants his mom cuz he's not gonna feel good. So she's sacrificing her sleep. So I don't wanna say it's a dad thing. It's a parent thing. Yeah. But it's a parent thing. I think it's like we put our pride and,
Jon:So I, I thought that was a good question to ask just because I can't speak for moms, but as far as being a dad like you said we tend to be either prideful or think, okay, hey, it's just tough it out. I'm sure it's fine, it'll go away, type of thing. And I don't think that, I don't think that's really in our society of Hey, go get checked out. Go, you should go do it. Like we hear that in like ads, but we think more for the kids or for the wife or something. When it comes to being a dad or a guy I should say. You just ah, like no, I'm fine. Like you said, like I'll just watch it or I'll go tomorrow cuz I got stuff I gotta do today, I got and whatnot and we push it off. But the fact is as we get older, our body doesn't work the same. So I think we do need that little bit of help of going to the doctor, getting that checkup just to see if anything is going on and then we could handle it appropriately. Yeah.
Daniel:And then also trying your best to follow your doctor's plan. That's a no, seriously. I know people, no, I, who get prescribed medicine and they don't take it.
Jon:I only laugh at that cause I'm laughing at myself cuz I think it was last year I was supposed to get some blood work done that the doctor ordered up and I was like, okay, yeah, I'll do it next, next weekend. Cuz during the week, I work by the time I get off their clothes and they kept pushing it back. And then before I knew it, it was already my yearly checkup again. I was like, I had to see the doctor. I was like, Yeah, I swear I wanna go get the blood work done this time and this time I did go get it done. But I just,
Daniel:like you said, I would've turned it around. I would've turned it around on them. Just be like, what do you mean you don't have it? What do you I said
Jon:last,
Daniel:like a year ago. What do you mean you don't got it? I was down there for an hour.
Jon:I was stuck in traffic 30 minutes and then I'm waiting that long as life. They
Daniel:enough, not me.
Jon:Get the receptionist in here. I need to talk to somebody. No, but you're absolutely right. You gotta follow through with whatever the doctor says because, they do it for a living. They know what they're doing. And yeah, I'm on high blood pressure medicine that I never thought I would be on, but he, he says that If I get my weight down more under control that I probably won't need the medicine, but I know high blood pressure can do damage to, your body and whatnot. So that's why I'm, I was thinking too, it's taking it every day. Same here. I
Daniel:dunno if I told you, but I'm on high blood pressure and actually they were I saw so my doctor has me on what he described as A very low dose. And then when I saw a specialist, she's like, why are you, if you're on blood pressure medicine, why are you taking this is like nothing usually. She's baby after, she's was Gracie, she's people like who are as big as you are, tend to have A lot stronger medicine. So she's I said, I don't know what you're doing, but just keep doing it. She's keep taking her medicine and keep doing it because she's it's working, but she's it's just, she was surprised. Like usually people like around 300 pounds tend to have a very high doses of blood pressure medicine. Yeah. So yeah, for all you dads out there and parents, just make sure keep going to the doctors, get, Get checked up and, try to live a long, healthy life for your kids. More memories.
Jon:Yeah. Yeah. You get to stick around to see hopefully grandchildren if they're there. Yeah. If not, you just get to see your children get older and
Daniel:older. All right. So John, I have a question for you. This is it's, I guess it's maybe mildly connected to what we just talked about right now, but I saw this on Twitter the other night and I was like, oh, I want to ask John and see what he would answer. Okay, so there's two pills. Okay. Okay. You can take the blue pill and it will You would get 10 million in your bank account. Second, you digest this blue pill. Okay? Tax
Jon:free. Tax free,
Daniel:okay? Tax free,$10 million in your name, or you can get a red pill. Now, this red pill, what it would do is it would take you back to when you were six years old, but you get to go back when you were six with all the knowledge you have today. Which one do you do? I think I know how you're gonna answer, but I just wanted, see
Jon:in that scenario, if push came to shove, I would probably take the 10 mil.
Daniel:I knew you were gonna put, now I have a reason why. Let me hear
Jon:why, how you think. Take it.
Daniel:Okay. Cause I hon I don't think you're not a selfish and greedy, but I think you're thinking more, it would go a longer way with your family. Like all the good can come without, for all that money can do good with your family. That's the reason why you would do it.
Jon:I'm sure that's probably one of the reasons
Daniel:that's in there. But no, honestly, actually that's better. Yeah,
Jon:let's go with that. No no, the, my honest logic. Behind is, if I go back to when I was six and I have the knowledge that I have now, I would not live the same life that I did. I would have done several things differently. And doing that, there's a decent chance I wouldn't have the family that I have. So I definitely love my kids and so I would keep them and take 10 mil and turn that into
Daniel:more money. Yeah. That's the same reason why I would take the 10 million. Yeah. Now, if I was single, then I would probably take the red pill. If, what? If I were single? If I was single today and Oh hell yeah. I'm gonna go back to, yeah. But yeah, now it's what I thought. I'm like even though I go, it might not gimme like a longer life, but it would basically take care of my kids. And maybe their kids, set them up. Yeah. You know what I mean?
Jon:Alright. It's kinda sad cuz nowadays 10 million isn't what it used to be.
Daniel:Yeah. We were just talking about this at work. Is it even worth it to own your own house? Like just the way like it's set up. To be right. Like I said, we could talk about this another time, but what got it started was like there's just I get details, but basically there's someone we know, but someone else was handling that person's money. And it's quite a common tale, so I could talk about, I could talk about it off the air, but I don't wanna put it on here. But legally I can't. But it's a good story. It's a good, it's good story. Okay. Alright. But yeah. So Sarah, real quick.
Jon:Yeah. I do need to give a shout out and a thank you to your wife. To Sherry, to Auntie Sherry. So she gave my kids a little cat Caterpillar set. So they they come to Silicon Container that has food and whatnot and Once they co cocoon, you move'em into this little basket that they can, once he turns to butterflies, they could fly around in there and whatnot. Just the other day all, I believe there's five of them, all five butterflies have emerged. The day before one came out. And I'm not gonna lie, cuz our kids. They had a blast. They would look at the caterpillars every day, check them out, watch'em walk around. And then when they went to the cocoon stage, they were so fascinated. They thought it was so awesome. I looked it up and it says it's, they're in the cocoon stage for about 10 to 10 days. And I'm not gonna lie, they look dried and hard and I thought they died. My wife and I both thought, I was like, I don't think they, they're gonna come out. But sure enough, on day, I think I wanna say it was day like nine or 10. The first one came out and then the next day or so, the arrest came out and yeah they're flying around in there, so they were supposed to keep them in there for two or three days, and then we're supposed to release them in the backyard. So the, my kids loved it. They thought it was awesome. Yeah. Parents out there I'll have to look up the name of the company because mailed to you.
Daniel:We'll post it on our Instagram.
Jon:Okay. Yeah. There we go. We'll post on the Instagram and to be honest, parents, it's really cool because if you are. Don't want to pick up, after an animal or anything. With fishes, you gotta clean the tank every so often. This is literally just pretty much hands free. You watch'em just crawl around, and then there's only, you only have to move them from the container to the bin. And then you're pretty much, that's about it, give or take. But it's really cool. And the kids love it. They watch them like on hours just looking at'em. I was like, aren't you? Bored with that already, but no, they loved it.
Daniel:Yeah, she found this she found this thing on it was actually during the pandemic and we're looking for anything we can get our hands on to keep our daughter busy and this is one of'em. And she found it. And like you said, she had a blast. And I remember the other day we went in the front yard to release the butterflies and. She was like so happy she saw it, like the coldest thing. Yeah, I'll get the name and we'll definitely, we'll post it on the, we'll give a shout out to them and we'll post it on our Instagram page.
Jon:Yeah. And if I'm not mistaken, I think they do other things as well. I wanna say there was like frogs different little insects and other creatures.
Daniel:Yeah. All right. So John, is there anything else you need to add? I
Jon:think that's all I had for today. What
Daniel:about you? No, I think that's it. Next week dad draft will be returning. I been All right. Coming up with some new topics and we're gonna do a little differently. We gotta give John some type of advantage a chance, so we're pretty much gonna make it
Jon:even is what we're gonna
Daniel:do. It's exciting. Yeah, I'm excited.
Jon:Daniel did his own research. He held his own study on asking people what he thought about these answers and his own answer. And then, so what we're gonna do now going forward, is we're just gonna pick'em out of a hat, what the is, and just go off our brains of what the answers
Daniel:are. It's actually a tens ball container.
Jon:Even better. Yeah. Like Mads,
Daniel:I like those odds. All right. So do you have a fun fact for tonight or should we just wrap it up? I
Jon:do have a fun fact. It actually ties into the gift your wife gave us. I never knew this, but apparently butterflies, they're most of their taste buds are in their feet. Nice. So Nice. There's the, there's some food for thought. Yeah.
Daniel:Yeah. I like that one. Good job. All right from John and I thank you for listening and don't go changing.
