Happy Father's Day
hello, and welcome to another episode of Four Two Dad's Day podcast. I am Daniel, and here with me as always is my little brother, John. John. How's he going? Hello? Hello? It's going pretty good. I know we've been trying to record this this episode for a couple days, but we got some sick kids that need our attention. How many is it? So is it both kids or is it just one. At your house. It's just one. So last week it was Alex. Now it's Danny, which is a bummer because she missed her last day of school today oh, which was which was, which sucks, but, none the, hopefully for a speedy recovery. So let me ask you this question. Do you. Prefer both of them being sick at the same time and get it over with, or do you prefer what's happened to you where Alex was sick last week? Now this week it's Danny. They've never been sick at the same time. Not at least not that I can remember. So on paper that sounds really good, but. It's just it is what it is. Kids are kids. I was coaching the the soccer team yesterday and I literally, every kid on our team was just sneezing and coughing. So it just, this is what kids do, they hang out with each other, they get sick, they spread germs and they bring it home. So today my wife, she. Gave this place scrubbing. She soaked this whole house in like lights off. And so yeah, so when I came home, they have this strong order, nevertheless, it is what it is. Nice. I know with my kids, I've had it where all three have been sick at once, and then I've had it where it's just. Made through, made it through the family one week at a time, and that one week when they are sick, it's, it sucks. It's rough, but at least it's just one week where when it carries on for, a few weeks between the kids it's, you almost feel am I, are we ever gonna get a healthy house back or, when's that day coming? But yeah. Pros and cons to it all. So if this week taught us anything, John, it is always take the money. Always take the money. Yeah. Did you hear what's going on in the golf world this week? I probably did, but for listeners, you should probably let them know, okay. What's happening? So the live tour and PGA have merged, and you're probably wondering why this is a big deal and it's really not because at the end of the day it's sports. However, I think times are changing, and this could be the term of something in my opinion, but basically these group of guys in Saudi Arabia Started their own golf league and they took the best golfers at least they tried to go after the best golfers in the PGA and PGAs at the league, just like the nba, nfl. And basically they were able to get a couple guys as well as some other golfers, and they formed these this streak where was. Interesting about this is they're paying these guys like literally hundreds of millions of dollars. And the PGA they were trying to play like the victim. Oh, we're, we're just surviving, because, et cetera, et cetera. And actually got to the point where the commissioner was playing the nine 11 card on these guys. So basically oh, it makes me sick that Americans would want to do business with them after nine 11. I, he even went to bring like families on TV and he begged and pleaded a lot of the top golfers. Some stood with the pga, some took the money. And this week the sports world was shocked when now they're emerging. They're gonna form one league together. And I feel bad for the golfers who were trying to do the right thing, stand by their country. But the other guys, they got their payday and now it's they really have no punishment or anything actually they look good out of, in my opinion. Once this thing's and we look back in a couple months they're gonna come out looking. Good. The guy from the commissioner, from the pga, he comes off as a real hypocrite if you ask me. But it's just interesting cuz like this is where sports is turning. So for example, like a year ago I heard they were thinking about doing this in tennis, starting their own tennis league and going. Can get like a Novak Oved Raia and Nadal get those players to play in their league and not on the tour, which they play right now. And I don't know if you heard the news this week Leon Messi, he's gonna be playing for mls. I saw something of the nature, but I didn't know the specifics. So he's playing at mls. And basically what happened was, going into this week, it was between those sa not, I don't think it's the same guys, but se and Arabia, they're having a a soccer league. It's basically like mls. So basically all the top guys at the end of their careers, they're gonna go and they're gonna try to bring them to that league. I see. There's a striker from Ro Madrid. His contractors ended with Ro Madrid, wasn't sure he was gonna retire, and those guys were like no, don't retire. Come over here. We'll pay you 600 million for three years. And he signed up and took it. Mess was his. If I'm not mistaken, it was between Barcelona, the league in Saudi Arabia or mls. The second was leaked that he was gonna come to mls. They offered him 1.5 billion to come to change his mind, but he didn't take the money. It's, yeah, these, it's interesting. I think you'll see more and more of these stories cause these guys have inland's pockets and right. And so I wouldn't be surprised if you try them, that they go more mainstream, like hockey's an international sport. They might try to form their own hockey league nba basketball's. The international sport they might go after because they went after golf. You think, oh, why were they going after golf? Golf? They did and they won. And so this is a real fast story. Did PJ buy them out or are they merging where they're both partners? No. So they're both partners, but now they have a seat at the table. So the format hasn't really been presented yet. But basically what's happening PJ was literally hanging by a thread cuz they had to up the prize monies for all these tournaments. And at the same time they are, they were trying to take Liv to court. The, but that's not going well because again, their pockets are too deep. And the players that were that went over to live, they were assuming the PGA because the PGA kind of blocked them out. You can't play at any of our events if you're gonna go play for live. And I see. So I think with all these legal fees and court cases and. The pride having to up the prize money, play the players more. It came to this. I see. Yeah. They offer Tiger like$800 million. A lot of guacamole. But and the thing about too is these guys, they're going after they're also going after a soccer team. So like it's, a lot of them own like, All the top clubs like Manchester City, Chelsea, their owners are from Saudi Arabia. So it's like they have very deep pockets. So yeah, wouldn't surprise, I don't know. I stilled not a hundred percent sold if we'll ever see like a NFL owner from Saudi Arabia, who knows? Yeah. That's gonna be interesting. I'm not too confident about hockey though, because I'm not sure if they had too many ice rinks out there in Saudi Arabia, but they can. Not all their golf courses were from Saudi Arabia. They're, they were having golf courses all over the world, like golf tournaments all over the, there's one the United States, so they could yeah, I don't. I don't think it matters where they play. But I'm just saying like that's golf is easier sport to get into where you play all over the, the world and stuff where, you know, if they're trying to compete with the N H L, they have to have a home base where their players are gonna not be traveling across the world for, a game. And then next week has to travel back across world for, their next game. They're gonna have to have a central base where it's just like cities away or, states away, however, whatever providence they're in. But yeah that's where I see them range to a little bit of a trouble, something like that. Or what if I compare to like football? What if I picture you a picture? That's why I don't think it's gonna be football. I think football could stand on its own two feet. But what about. If they were able to find I don't know, like some anywhere in Europe, a lot of players come from Europe and so yeah. What would make them to stop, Hey, okay. Instead of gonna the United States I just take a couple hundred million dollars to play here near home and it's the same thing. Potentially, there are, yeah Europe leagues out there for hockey already. And they would obviously be one of those paying on the high end side. But yeah, I don't know. Obviously with with any child teams, I mean they pretty much the players. I'm not sure how they would get outta their contracts. Unless the Saudi Arabia's are gonna buy out their contracts or something like that. So I don't know how they would get like Sidney Crosby to go play over there until like his contract's up and or he is a free agent or something like that. Yeah, I think that gets a little more complicated with the contracts. You're right. But yeah, but like again, once their contract's up, it's just Again, mess. Look what happened. Messi's contract was up and they offered him a billion dollars. Yeah. So I don't know. Who would you rate the top player renowned nhl? The top dominated player? Is that kid from like Alanche? I can't remember his name right now. I'm drawing to blank. But I think you're thinking of Oh fuck. But anyway yeah. I know what you mean. Yeah, I just threw Sidney Crosby's name out there. He's obviously on the back end of his career, but he's someone a lot of people have heard of. So yeah, it's gonna be interesting. And like I said, Basketball's an international sport. So it's been a real fascinating story I've been following because I think this is where we're gonna see a trend. Nice. Nice. All right. So let's see. Any, anything different going on at the house? So we started soccer this week and it's funny, I thought when we signed her up for. A city league. I figure it wasn't aso, it wasn't like a private organization, wasn't club. So this is gonna be like more recreational, and they haven't really given me a lot of information up until the first practice. So first practice I go, I check in, they're like, okay, here's your equipment. And they gave me a pack of papers. I passed out to the parents and one of those, part of the packet was like the rules of this upcoming season. And we're talking 11 on 11 here, right? 11 on 11 with the goalie on sides. It's just, it's crazy. I don't know a whole lot of strategy, so I'm by myself. A lot of the other teams I noticed, they have two coaches out there. I'm doing employment, I'm doing by myself, and so yeah, I'm taking them trying to teach'em the ends and the outs of the the game of soccer or football. Just do what I do or what I did. So this last season for my oldest son's soccer team his grandfather's was a coach the first time he is played. And he was the head coach this last time. And I came on as assistant coach to help out. But he was pretty much just letting me run things like, all right, whatever you want the kids to do, go for it. So I just googled Practice or drills for, ages six in soccer and you good old YouTube showed me how to some of the drills I'll do and I used some of them and the kids had fun. Definitely worked on some of their techniques and stuff, mechanics. But this year the upcoming season, which I am just in the finalizations of Getting certified to signing a new, signing, a new contract, signing a new contract with with the league. I wanna be the head coach and one of the dads from the team, he's gonna be the assistant coach. And yeah, you never take it all alone. So you're basically firing your father-in-law. That's right. We released him. We're not gonna be resigning them. No. He's actually, we're hoping that my second oldest son, Xander, he can he's going to start playing soccer and his grandfather will go ahead and coach, stay with that age range, with the younger kids and. Coach them. So I did two things. I did YouTube. I actually called our brother-in-law and asked if he knew of a good channel, and he waited me in the right direction and got a bunch of stuff. And of course my favorite show right now, it just ended. Te Lasso. Love. Yeah. Did you watch this past season to Lasso? Not yet. Yeah. I'm sure I will, but I not yet. I knocked out the first season. I think I got halfway through the second season, but I got busy and haven't got back to it easily. It's gonna go deanna's for me. Top three TV shows of all time. My personal favorite. I'm not calling Everyone has their own preference, but me personally, I love it. You know me, I'm a positive guy. Glass half full. And that's the energy he brings. Ja Dick did an amazing job of his character when he did the character for nbc, the commercials. Yeah. I couldn't get enough of it. I was just watching it. I watched, I must have watched both commercials probably like 10 times. It was just I loved it. And so Juan was happy when he made the a show and they, the show came on at the perfect time. It was during the pandemic. A lot of negative news in the world back then. It still is today, but it was nice to just turn on the TV and not, see something about coronavirus or someone dying, or, so it was just nice to like, for a good 30, 45 minutes to get like lost in this TV show. And yeah, thank. I'm a little curious, you said your third favorite show, so what's one and two? Obviously the office and then, I don't know, I gotta, it could be number two. Right now, nothing comes to the top of my head. Oh oh, would it be breaking bad? And maybe breaking bad. So I dunno if maybe in that order, or maybe I'm forgetting the show that I've watched. But Ozark was good. Did you watch Ozarks? I started that, but I didn't stick it out. It's so hard because with the kids around, yeah. It's like you wanna get invested. So for instance Game of Thrones. I think we've talked about this before. I've been curious, but it's hard to get invested into a show, especially like right now. Right now would be the time where I sit down and turn the TV on and. Okay, what am I gonna watch? And it's 10 o'clock at night, I'm tired. I just wanna zone out for a bit. So then I would put off par rack, modern family, something I've seen a hundred times. So I don't have to get like invested until you don't have to pay attention too closely. Yeah. Yeah. All right. All right. Yeah. But we prevent back, oh, go ahead. Oh, go ahead. No, I was just gonna say, you said number three pretty confidently, so I thought you already had a number one, two in the chamber. But no that's what I think of the show. It's just it's an amazing show. It was I guess you could say bittersweet. That it came to an end. It's it's, I like the way it ended, however, and I don't wanna give any spoilers, but Please. I like the way it, I like the way it ended, but it's always disappointing when you see your show come to an end. Yeah. If it's a good farewell though, then I feel like that, yeah, really cements it cuz so I know The Sopranos was a solid show. I, that's one that I do eventually want to watch the whole se the whole series, but I just heard so many people piss off about the last show and how it ended. Yeah. I don't know. Maybe I'm guessing the director maybe thought, okay Have a spinoff or we'll have a movie be something to end it like that. It doesn't make any sense to me. Some directors, they, I think what happens, they like to go for that factor and how I met Your Mother Dixter, two shows that I loved and the. At the last episode was just they bombed. It was just like, I don't understand, like what you guys were trying to go for the Sopranos. I think I heard in a interview, I could be mistaken, but I think I heard in an interview that it the director was just pretty much kinda like we left it so people can decide for themselves what they want as an ending. Like however you see, that character doing what he would do, then that's how it would be. And Yeah, it is. But 15 minutes still of airtime left. It's just it doesn't make any sense. Yeah, I, yeah, so Dexter loved, I was hooked every single episode. It was hooked, zoned in, and the last episode, and it actually was just like the last 15 minutes where I'm like, Wait what just happened? They did do a spinoff, I think cuz they know, they effed it up so bad that they're like, okay, we have to do a mini season and put a story to, and even then it felt like forest, but at least it was better than how it ended their first attempt. Going back to the soccer Have you been frustrated at all while you're coaching at any moment? Any time? I don't think it's more so if it's how many times? Okay. It's how many times. Don't get me wrong, kids are great. I love them. They're fun to be around. They're funny. They make me laugh, but. When you're trying so hard just to get them to do a simple drill, not even the drill, just to get in a straight line to line up for the drill. And you have the kids pulling grass, throwing grass at each other, pushing each other, just talking and not listening to a word that you are, any of the coaches are saying you have to ask the same player. Okay, let's come on. Sweet. Let's get up. We can't sit down. We're playing. And There's definitely times where you get frustrated. It was funny cuz this past Sunday I was just changing the channel. And I saw on the screen a league of their own and I was like, I have to watch this. And Sharon actually sat down and watched a movie and I was like, oh, this is how I have to coach. It's interesting cuz like I, I've coached tennis a sport that I know very well and technique and coached kids, adults. And now I'm coaching a a sport which I've only played recreationally never a full on 1111 game. And I feel like it's the same at tennis as far as okay. Like I knew going in after first practice, I'm like, okay, first of all, I didn't have any kids I had, so it's hard to plan for the first practice. No, I'm serious. I, no, I know that's, I know exactly what you're talking about. And so okay, 15 kids, that's a lot of kids. Yeah. And I've been there before especially with tennis, trying to you're talking through them, their techniques, but I also know if a kid's standing in line for 30 seconds and they get bored, it's over. To redirect'em back to that drill or bring them back into practice it's, yeah. It's pretty much gone. Cuz time goes by so fast. And I okay, this is the drill we're doing and you guys cuz kids are gonna be kids, right? So I want you guys, while you're waiting, you're gonna practice on your passing. Okay. And go. And I think the old me would've been like them goofing off and doing like these ridiculous passes would've been like, Hey, knock it off. That's not how I want you to pa practice. Because at the end of the day, you wanna make it fun. I've been on the other side of this where our dad coached my teams before, and, and you could tell like the competitiveness in him was high, right? He liked to be competitive. And so therefore, like if I felt like I wasn't on my best performance I was gonna let him down. And there were a couple times where I did screw up and you could see it was like hard for him to let that go. Like it was gonna be a long time before he let it go. And we're back to father, son instead of player coach. You know what I mean? So it's I'm trying not to make that same mistake as, as he did, yeah. So like for me it's just about keeping the kids fine, keeping it engaged. That's the MI mindset I'm having. But yeah, I'm with you. It's like I, you're, you have how you have in mind how practice is gonna go and then. It's going how you planned a little bit, but at the same time, not everything's falling into place and therefore you're like do you get nervous about if the parents are judging you? I. At first, I always say like the first one, first, like practice or two I did just because I was in, I'm in the same boat with you. Like I played one le one season of soccer when I was like, what I think. 10 or so, give or take. But even that, the team I was on, it was the dad was a coach and he, you could tell he's never coached before and it was really not organized and it was just a, an s show. But I don't like, I like I was telling my wife I don't know the fundamentals that are supposed to be taught in soccer that you, that kids need to know whatever, like this was basketball, baseball, or football. Yeah. I know the fundamentals. I know drills, I know what they should be learning. And so I had a little self-conscious going into the first couple of practices I don't know what I'm doing, so let's see what happens. But After you break the ice through the first like couple of practice, you get to an idea of, what players have the eagerness to want to play, want to learn, and then you know, the players that are just. Kind of there because their parents forced them. They're just there, out there. They'd rather just pick the grass, sit down and not really pay attention, which is, cool. Cuz again, if they didn't choose to be there, like it's not their fault that they had to be there. I remember looking at the parents and seeing, like thinking, do they know? I don't know what I'm doing, but I would say after the first couple practices like that kind of just goes out the window and I, that's when I really started to look into things on YouTube and just learning techniques that they can help them grow. Cuz what age are you playing with? Seven? Eight. Seven eight. So I was dealing with five and six year olds, maj, the major leagues pretty much. So yeah. But our brother-in-law was He was shocked. My total like, cuz he was like, how big is the field? And like I was explaining, I was reading basically the paper dam and he was just like, I can't believe it's like this. He's he's usually it's like private or aso, like advanced ASO league or playing on fields like these big, he's yeah. Our goddaughter, oh my god. Daughter his daughter. She plays private club and they're planning, that's a regular field. Yeah, so it's just gonna be interesting. I was up front with the parents. I'm like, look, I have no idea how to play soccer technique wise. I go, I'm just going to, I'm here to make sure they have fun. And that's the goal. For this season, and so you bake it till you make it. You tell, I've been playing soccer my whole life. Okay. I held three champions championships. I got a gold boot. If you don't know what that is, look it up. I, so again, too, you could say I'm Ted Lasso. I don't know anything about soccer. And, I'm a, I'm the coach. And but I did get good news yesterday that they're supposed to be giving me an assistant high school kid. So hopefully he knows what he's doing so we'll figure it out. What drill would you do next? Just asking the questions. So let me, I'm trying to of the best way toward this and I don't think you're gonna have any issues with it. But do you have any line or difference between. You and your daughter on the field and you and your daughter, Alta Field, or is it just same? This is my daughter and I'm not gonna treat her any differently. This is Danny's first year and first season actually, I should say year, first season ever playing soccer. And she's at the lower part of the age group, right? She's seven, right? She's, they're eight years on the team. So my expectations aren't high. And then again, too, the goal isn't for her to we're not, basically, I'm not gonna, we're not gonna go down the path as, let's say our sister's kid, right? We're not gonna have her have a private coach and go to a school. Basically. So the goal is for her to have fun. My, there's two goals actually. One is for her to have fun, but then also to start something and finish it. Now if she, at the end of the season, like that was fun but I don't wanna play anymore. I would be okay with that. Not look back. Okay. We'll try something else. I think it helps that her best friend is on the team. That was a coincidence. And so it gives her kind of like motivation. So yeah, so I'm just, those are the two goals for I have for her. The, going into the first practice, it was, dad, why did you sign me up? I don't wanna play soccer. I cuz she wanted to play soccer, but then she's went to a couple soccer games and she sees the parents yelling and how stressful it could be for the kids. And she's I don't want that. And I told her Ramal, it's not gonna be that intense. At least I don't, I hope not. Yeah. So again she's never kicked a soccer ball. She's never stepped on the soccer field. And so again I'm, I think I'm more realistic on my expectations. Same thing with when you play tennis. I was like, even though she was like, I wanna be like my dad. I want to go out there and I want to, hit the ball and I wanna do this. And she loved it. A part of me was like, as I'm not gonna lie, went there oh, okay if she likes this, then maybe we could add another lesson during the week and then maybe get her on a team and then, and then these thoughts running through my head now. Luckily for this. COVID came along and put a stop to that. And so yeah, so that's where we're at right now. Like with sports, she don't have a lot of experience, but, and plus too, I know my daughter, she's more of a, she's more of an artist. She's more creative, she likes drawing, she likes making stuff. I could just see sports as like a hobby. And that's it. And again, I'm a, I'm okay with that, I know I've had friends who had their kids from, at the age of four or five, stick with one sport and hopefully it would pay off, scholarship or some not. Someon hasn't it's just, we don't know. And so again she likes it and that's all that matters. But it'll be interesting though when we play the games cuz you know, again, to say my dad was competitive. I'm competitive. And so we'll we'll see. I think what's going to really irritate me is If parents are like, oh, you should have done this, you should have done that. But it's okay, I didn't see you sign up or park. Hey, can I need help during practice? So yeah. So how many kids on your guys' team so I believe for ours it's I wanna say it's seven on seven, so it's not a full field. The field that we're gonna play on was right next to the g the field that the six and under we're playing on. And It's, it's bigger, it's a lot bigger than what the kids are playing on now, but the difference, there's a couple big difference. So the sixth and under that we just got done with the season, the coaches are allowed to go on the field and like help guide the kid. Hey bud, you wanna be in this spot over here? Or, they're like right there, like on the field with the kids. The. Eight and under the next, the season we're gonna be going into, coaches have to stay on the sideline and the kids are pretty much, they're learning the actual, sport. They're learning the actual rules of the game and stuff. I believe if it's seven on seven, I should probably end up with 10 11, give or take. Cause they normally give you a few extra for subs. And whatnot. So yeah. It's funny cuz some of the parents get pretty intense, even if the six and under. Nothing as far as yelling at kids, like putting them down or anything like that. But once their kid has a ball, it's go, come. Pass, kick, kick, kick. Come on. It was just it's funny on how intense some of the parents can get, but But yeah I, we never once had anyone say any, I'd never seen on either side of the field. Anyone say anything to the coach? Coach, what are you doing, blah, blah, blah, or anything like that. So what about, be fine with that. Let me ask you, like, how would you say has coaching your son. Affect your relationship with him? Oh yeah. We don't talk anymore. No. No. It doesn't affect it because, I remember when our dad would coach me and maybe he just learned from coaching you. He did push me a little harder than the other kids on our team, but I never once felt it as. Hey, you need to get better cuz you suck. Or anything like this. It was just he kinda just made it feel more if you want to be the best, then you gotta work hard. And I felt like I decided to try to live up to that expectation and. So that's, that, that was my choice. And same boat with you. I remember I messed up thinking like, ah, he's gonna be mad. And if it was during practice or if it was during a game, once it was done, it was just left on the court. It wasn't, taken on the right home or anything like that. Again, maybe he learned since he was the first time coaching you and by the time he coached me, But but as far as with my son he enjoys playing. But I don't see him having to drive to want to be the best in a sense. He just wants to have fun and he does want to be good. Like I, he's mentioned I wanna kick the ball hard and blah, blah, blah. And so I just help him with whatever he wants to thrive into. If he doesn't want to, if he once we get outta practice, I may bring up something like, oh, hey buddy, you know how. You kicked it to the out, outside, out, this way during the, that part of the game. Next time you want to kick it that way because, and I'll explain it to him. He's oh, okay. And then we just leave it at that. I don't, come down on him or tell him, Hey, you gotta do this or else, you're not gonna, I'm gonna bench you or anything like that. It's a nice little bond that we have that we get to talk about, practice, we get to go to practice together and we have our drives home and stuff. But but yeah, I would say that's how it's impacted our relationship. All right. Anything else you wanna add or anything? I would just say if you're a parent that's gonna coach Just, like general said, have fun with it and just try to have as much patience as you can. I like to think I'm a little bit more, I like the structure of, having the team a little more organized and stuff, but when they're young and when they're little kids like this, it's, you're there's gonna be chaos. It's just you have to accept it. When they get older and they know more of. They chose to be there and they want to play the sport, then that's when you could Hey, stop messing around. Let's go. It's, it's game time or it's time to focus. But when they're little like this, it's chaos that's gonna happen. All right, so it's time for dad draft. All right. So I selected a topic, John, but I haven't I didn't get to make what I said I was gonna make, so I thought we were gonna pick it on the spot. Yeah, I know, but I didn't have time unless you wanna do it next week. No. I let's do it this week. I've been missing it All right. And I know it's been asked about, okay, so I was thinking, are you not better yet? We'll come up with the. One together. I was thinking father's dad. I was thinking like Father's Day gift ideas. Okay. Yeah we could do that. Okay. To save some time of brainstorming. All right. All right. So we'll do we'll do five each and do you wanna go first? Sure I'll go first. I got like a date. Nothing right here. Let's see. So I will go with a great Father's Day gift is this is boring, but I wanna say just let's let it in a sleep in. Okay, I'll be happy with that. With a good sleeping and that being a couple extra hours of sleep. Yeah, it sounds nice. But again, I think what happens is the kids get excited cuz they're like, oh, we're good Dad's Father's Day and they want to get the day started, so they tend to wake you up. But yeah, I like it. I like that. For me, I'm gonna go with I'm gonna go sports tickets. Sports tickets. Yeah. And that means I'm gonna get like a day with with my brother, co-host or a friend and. Good to go and watch a game and get, some me time. Yeah, it'd be better if it was the bills or the ducks, but, I'm not greedy. Take a take what it is. All right. All right. Another where are you going Back to back or are we just going back and forth? Go ahead. No, go ahead. Okay. I'm gonna go with a. With either like a toolbox or toolbox, set some tools. In general, I feel like that's something practical that a lot of dads, they, if you're like me, you have a just a mis misorganized, tool set. I have a hammer from this store. I have pliers from this store and, I have tools, but they just, it's not an organized set or anything like that. So just like a toolbox or even tools in general that a dad may want, I think that's that's awesome. That they don't have to get for themselves. Yeah. I think last summer was the first time I ever bought like toll for myself. It's only cuz like our garage, we have Sherry's, like dad's, like old tools, which we tend to use. But I was doing something around the house and was the first time I had to go to Home Depot and look for little things here and there. So it was cool. Yeah. Good pick. For me honesty, clothes. Yeah. So like a nice like summer shirt or sports jacket whatever. Yeah. I'm a, me, I'm a fashion guru and so always like to only like to dress for the occasion. So yeah. So I'm gonna go with with clothes. Let me ask you this. Would you rather get the actual close or a gift card to the store where you like to shop? I think I wouldn't like the close. Okay. And just, we should lay this out in the beginning, but I would say, let's take gift cards off the table. Okay. I feel like that's a, that's fair. That's fair. All right. So we're on number three. Yeah. Okay. Father's Day, gift number three I would go with, I would go with being taken out to a restaurant of, the dad's choice. Nice. Good dinner. So if you like steak, you go to that steakhouse. You like seafood. Yeah, sushi, whatever you like, just you get to pick. That's always an awesome Dad's dinner. I don't think I've ever been out on Father's Day. I think we've always like home cooked on that day. I never thought about this, but I wonder if any restaurants or anything get busy on Father's Day. I know Mother's Day, they normally get busy, but Father's Day, you're right. I feel like most. Dads or most families are staying home, barbecuing or, just hanging out at home. But that's, yeah, that's interesting. Even during the pandemic on Mother's Day, what we did was we ordered food from BJ's restaurant. And I ordered ahead of time and went, and I was able to just walk in, pick it up. Their line was like out the door and where the, where they're at. There's a bunch of other restaurants, right? Olive Garden, so on and so on. And it was even worse. And so yeah, there's no getting around Mother's Day restaurants. Good luck. But yeah, I don't think I've ever been out on Father's Day. Maybe Father's Day is the one you should go out. Maybe, the restaurants are slow. Okay, so we're at number three for Yes sir. You know what a wallet. I was thinking about that. Yeah, a wallet. Yeah, that's a good one. Yeah, I like I'm trying to think. It's been a couple years since some do. Yeah. Upgrade for a wallet. I've actually been seeing the ads for those thin wallets that you can you hit a button and like your cards slide up. So have you seen those? Yeah, I've seen those. It's are you not those on a appeal to you? Nah, not really. Yeah. You want that old fashioned, although, makes sense not to have a traditional wallet because a traditional wallet, I think main purpose was to hold your money. And to hold your driver's license or your id, whatever. But now not everyone carries money and, but I do a good paperclip attached to the wallet. Okay. Okay. I do I I was just gonna say, I, if I don't have at least cash in my wallet, like 20 bucks, then I feel like like I'm not prepared in a sense. You gotta be card at all times. I know you gotta be. I always try to have cash in my wallet, but so you said number four? Yeah. This is number four for you. Number four. Okay. Number four. I would say a good Dad's day gift. How about. You know what, this is cheesy, but I'm gonna go with it. How about just like a frame picture or even a puzzle of a picture of the family, of the kids. I know on what is it? There's an app, snap Fish I think it is, or something like that, that there's like Shutterfly, which he could, I need, could say, might be the same thing. That's a, I it's pretty much, yeah, it's tomato, tomato. But I. Ordered a whatcha wanna call it a puzzle of our boys. And it came in the mail and we all put it together. And then after I glued it and framed it, it's up on our wall. And that's I love that pic because it's several pictures on there. So if I was to get a gif of a puzzle of the fa picture of the family, I think that would be pretty awesome. I'll be happy with that. Yeah. I have one year for my life. We What I do, I took a picture of the family and they made a blanket, went through Shutterfly. There you go. But they, yeah. And so it's it's one of our favorite blankets, all of us. So we love to that's a blanket of choice when we curl up on the couch and watch a movie. That's that's usually our go-to blanket, if any parents are. Listening and they're thinking what to get their dad. If you think because it's a sentimental value of a gif that's like a picture or a blanket, a puzzle or anything like that. Go for it, dad. Dads love that. We may not articulate that all the time, but we do love that stuff. All right, so number four for me, huh? I'm gonna go with I'm gonna go with sporting equipment. Okay. Like a golf clubs, tennis racket. I'm trying to think off the top of my head, whatever. My dad's, a lot of dads do play like rec leagues, and so I'm sure they would upgrade on like their cleats or glove or whatever it is. So yeah, I'm gonna go to sports equipment. That's a good one. All right, last one, John. All right, last one. I am gonna go with let's go with, I'm gonna keep saying that cuz I feel like an idea's just gonna pop out when I say it. You said clothes already. I'm trying to think of what else I would want as far as a dad gift. How about just a family alley, whether it's to the movies or to have a picnic. Have some family activity. Yeah, some kind of family activity. Yeah, I'll say that would be fun. Fun. Dad. Dad's day gift. Need to get the families involved like at the. I would say a family outing where the dad does a little less, obviously the dad's gonna help out on something and stuff, but where he could relax a little bit more than the average outing. Okay. Good pick. Okay. So I was gonna go with something I get every year at his homemade card from my kids. There you go. Yeah. The tap, the fact they put the time and effort into it, it's always and they're so excited when they hand it to you, it's just they're more excited than, than us. And yeah. So it's great. It's, and and plus too, you could tell I got her daughter she's, like I said before, she loves arts and crafts and stuff, so like how she could focus on every little detail. It's not just like a couple scribbles. And so it's it's very sweet. So yeah. Homemade gift card from the kids. That's a solid one. All right. So yeah, you got wrapped it up. Is there anything else you need to add? Last thing to add. Nothing more so as far as like the actual contents of the show, but I guess it'd be fun fact time. Okay, go for it. Excuse me. So today's fun fact we're gonna actually go, since we're in the month of June I'm not gonna lie to you, I was trying to hope to find something a little bit better than just something kind of basic. But June's birthstone is pearl, which is always, if you know anyone that has a birthday and in June, their birthstones pearl. So if you want to get them a gif, necklace, bracelet, anything like that, that can come in handy. And then Yeah that's funny you say that. Cause I don't know, I don't know any sister birthdays in June, yeah. I guess I actually have three birthdays in June, myself. Sister, wife, and first son. Yeah. Yeah. Nothing comes to mind. Just kidding. Love you guys. I'm not, it was just a joke. We like John said, our sister and my sister-in-law, their birthdays aren't in June, so two sisters. Yeah. All right. Okay.
