Speaker 1:

Here at the Conscious Salon, we acknowledge the traditional owners of the land in which we stand today, the Boon Rung people of the Kula Nation. We pay our respects to the elders, past and present, and extend their respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Speaker 2:

Welcome to the Conscious Salon, welcome back to the Conscious Salon podcast. And Tess, new year, new me. Today is Happy New Year Day. Happy New Year Day, it's the 1st of January and hopefully you guys have woken up feeling really fresh and excited about 2024. Feels like a bit of an exciting time, doesn't it? It sure does, but we are back with our part two of our podcast that we started last week. If you haven't listened to last week's episode, please go back and listen. We did a really beautiful reflection ceremony where we gave you some prompts and we also shared our answers to that and we asked you guys to share your answers and we wanted to say thank you to everyone who has reached out and shared their answers. It was so beautiful to read. But this week we are doing part two, which is setting our intentions for 2024. And what a beautiful thing to do on the 1st of January.

Speaker 1:

Absolutely.

Speaker 2:

Tess, we're going to crack straight into the app. Would you like to start with the prompts or would you like me to the dramatic pause? You were too scared then.

Speaker 1:

Oh no, because I've actually just had my first orange of 2024 as well, stunning one. My dad and I'm just picking a bit out of my teeth. So when you did that, I thought you looked up thinking you were a bit cruel, a bit crooked.

Speaker 2:

No, we're going to get straight into it because we really want to take this time to set some really beautiful intentions. If you guys are somewhere nice and quiet, hopefully by yourself you can get nice and comfortable, you can find a space that you feel really, really peaceful and comfortable so you can just completely immerse in this episode of our potty and we can do this together. What do our people need to bring? Tess?

Speaker 1:

Pen and paper or a journal, whatever it is, maybe water. That's all I think. I don't think you need anything else. No, that'll be enough. An orange. If you want to move, tickles you now. You won't regret it. I certainly didn't.

Speaker 2:

Exactly I was going to say if you're backing it up today, you can sit down with a bevy, but we want to really be nice and intentional here, because we're going to be setting our intention for the year and some really great goals and things that we want to get out of the year. All the things that I've learned about manifestation over the last 12 months tells me that if you go into this with really good energy, you will more likely get back the exact return If you keep maintaining the focus on what you're wanting to get out of the year. Basically you cannot fail. You actually can't fail, I believe.

Speaker 1:

So let's get straight on in Question one. Actually, we don't enter number these. These are just as they come as they will. What are you wanting to achieve in 2024? Nikki, it's beautiful.

Speaker 2:

So I have answered with better balance, more adventure with my family. So when I thought about what I really wanted out of 2024, I think, 2023 I really had to dig into like super levels of resilience as a business owner, and what that did was it took up a lot of my time. Obviously, we started up a new business, so a startup is always a lot of energy and a lot of time and you know you put in the groundwork in the first few years to be able to set up the business. But also for the salon, it really required like a bit of hustle and we haven't hustled for a while. I don't like the word hustle, but we really needed to put a lot of effort into that this year.

Speaker 2:

So there was definitely like a bit of lack of balance that I found in my life because I was really prioritizing working and doing a lot. So for me, I really want to have adventure with my family. So, rather than just I had a lot of really nice conscious time with my family and present time, but I want to actually have some really nice adventure experiences Just because I've been really tied up with a lot of work stuff in the last 12 months. Yeah, what about you?

Speaker 1:

Beautiful mate. Mine is a little bit more simpler. I think I kind of want the opposite. I want a quieter mind. My mind's been a bit busy over the last few years, but especially this year I found my mind quite difficult to process, hence the exploring the neurodivergent world and I would really want, I think, just for that, to become a bit simpler and not sitting in that overwhelm or that frustration. I really would like it to just be a little bit calmer and more peaceful.

Speaker 2:

Can I take this like half a step further and ask how you're going to do that? Do you have any plans? It's like, how are you going to?

Speaker 1:

I'm relying on the doctors for that one, dale, I'm hoping a little bit of riddle it. Here's the title of the episode, I think so I then also expanded on that with saying that I really want to continue to grow, develop and be better in every sense. I always want to be better than what I have been in the past and I think that that is something that is a really big purpose for me is to continue to get to just become better and do better and evolve more. I think one of the big things and it will play out I did definitely notice a theme. Usually you do notice a theme with these sort of things when we started setting intentions and there's usually a theme around it.

Speaker 1:

I think I've really got lost in the busy and the chaos of my brain and so when it's all, it's very rare to see me sitting still or two. I busy myself a lot and I think even when I'm talking now I'm like mindful about, like even how I'm speaking. I want to like speak slow. You know that's one of the biggest feedbacks they get is like you're talking really fast and I'm like, yeah, it's honestly how I am. I feel like I'm just like a you know, hyperactive. You know that emoji that's like. That's what I relate to. If anyone that's like wanting to know what that face is, I know exactly the face it's like the eyes that are like all crazy in the tongues out of the mouth.

Speaker 1:

It looks like I'm Ed from the life. I think it's based off Ed or me. So it's a lot of slow, it's a lot of boundaries, it's a lot of pressure off. It's gonna be a lot of work. I find it really hard to sit still, then to ramping up. I find pretty easy and working under pressure and I've always said that, like you know, when, often, when things are really chaotic in the salon and busy, at the end of the day you know there'll be team that will be like oh my god, that was so full on and that was so stressful, whatever, and I'll be there, like you know shuckers loving it, being like oh, I love this stuff and I do. I always love it when it's like pumping in but I'm so uncomfortable and the still and the quiet and they're settled. But it's something that I know that I really want.

Speaker 2:

So I'm not 100% sure how I'm gonna achieve it, but I know that I'm really gonna explore it because even when I go and I was reading mine now, when you're reading yours I was like how are we actually gonna do this like you're gonna go?

Speaker 1:

like, like Mount Kilimanjaro or something. Well, I mean, I don't even know if that's when you can. I like, that's like.

Speaker 2:

I actually have to really commit to this because I really want this for me and my family. Yeah, but honestly, if I think about like going and doing those things, I feel a bit exhausted. But I actually want to really commit to it, so it makes me feel a little bit uncomfortable.

Speaker 2:

The idea of like committing to doing heaps of adventure. It's definitely a peace alley. My happiness is just like being at home in a quiet area. But for both of us, we need to keep accountable with this. So I'm like when I'm listening to you talk, I can hear that it would probably be beneficial for you to like work with a mentor or a coach, or maybe it's things like, you know, going to a breathwork class or like doing meditation or something like that, where you can actually put tangible things in place that you know. Hold you accountable in a way of actually committing to doing that, rather than this just being something that we say that we're going to do and then not necessarily do. So I don't really know how to even make mine achievable.

Speaker 1:

I can take you to a adventure, I'm like, yeah, it depends. It depends on what type of adventure. And that's the even. When you're saying, like you know accountability and like that, I'm like, yeah, I can see so many points where that would be really helpful, but I actually think I spend so like I write out every single day you almost need the opposite.

Speaker 1:

I need completely the opposite. Yeah, I need to step back into being more flexible. I need to like I read it every single day every task that I want to achieve, which is great because I'm super accountable and I get majority of the stuff done. But I've checked this everywhere I go. I've checked list in the you know our business boards. I've got them all through that. I have a planner that has my personal goals for the day and my like. I'm a list person.

Speaker 2:

I'm someone that's not constantly we need to like shred your planner or something is that gonna like no God, I'm just pop myself in the shredder I could I?

Speaker 1:

absolutely would I live up like that thing is my Bible. I think with this truly and I'm just trying to think about this in a way that it might like, even when you are saying that then like I could feel myself being like oh no, I don't want to get like a, I don't want to. I don't want to get a coach or a person that's going to teach me how to do this. I actually want to start teaching myself to stop being so. It's almost like I have an inability to just be like free, spontaneous, yeah, yeah, and that used to be something I did so well there's be so many people resonate with this right now.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and I was something I used to be able to do so well and just as things have got more and more you take on more responsibility.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I just find myself becoming so, like you know, rigid and even with this you know process of me starting, you know, exploring my brain. That all started from controlled food eating a certain you know type of isopole in a certain color pattern that I liked and I didn't like going outside that if anyone was eating it up, as you know, send me on edge like that's. That's not normal sort of stuff. So, thinking of having it being more accountable, I'm like no, I just want to start being comfortable with having giving myself the permission to do things at a slower pace and maybe to remove some of the structure and to just you need less structure. Yeah, yeah, I need so much less structure.

Speaker 1:

So some of between shredding the planner and, like you know, having one, is probably where I need to be. I don't really know. I think this, the simple things, are the things that I want to do, the things that I've always taken for granted. So when I was younger and I was carefree and whatever I would, you know, feel so fine about. You know, having a massive sleep in or spending the day watching movies and TV or reading, reading is a really big one that I want to get back into doing like really prioritizing that.

Speaker 2:

I don't remember the last time that I spoke to you like I've just had a lazy day yeah, don't do them like we can't believe that I I've ever done them yeah my yeah, but that's and that's the thing I want to change, because I'm also well, my partner also gets a very structured.

Speaker 1:

I'm still fine, but I'm not finding the way of like throw it to the wind, carefree things that I would put a lot of people from my past but like, oh, that's test through and through. Yeah, it's, it's kind of gone the other way, so I don't know. Well, we'll see.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I know I was just looking at mine and I'm like what I want to achieve is like obviously more adventure, but I think what I'm lacking, and what I've lacked this year, is fun and freedom. And no, sorry, not freedom, but fun. I've actually like having really serious here yeah just being very serious, and it's been really nice fun moments. But I think my thing is coming from like saying I want adventure, I want like fun moments with my family. Yeah so I just don't want to take things as seriously this year.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I, you know what. Yes, I think we're both resonating on that, so let's go with that. More fun for us. We are booking the family kentucky to us Absolutely.

Speaker 2:

School is two point. The next one is what am I committing to? What am I committing to so? This could be in your personal life, it could be in your professional life, whatever feels right for you. But whatever you're committing to or leaning into this year, what are you committing to this evening?

Speaker 1:

I'm committing to less work, more balance. How good is that. What are you committing to death? Can eating to boundaries, honoring my heart and slow, slow dates, beautiful mate.

Speaker 2:

So good. The next prompt what do I need less of this year? What do you need less?

Speaker 1:

of this year, less reacting emotionally or emotional reaction, which ever way that that resonates with anyone. And I also put Like having boundaries and then dropping them, or like having balance and then dropping it and thinking like, oh, and I know that we're both guilty of this, or we can start be like, oh, just quickly do this one thing for, whether it's for work or for Whatever one of the things is, and then suddenly you get swept up in it and then you know half a day is gone. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

I really want to get better at that, that our when I'm working and working, and when I'm not working, I'm not working, and I think that will be key in a lot of the slow. Yes. Yeah, what about?

Speaker 2:

you. I Said this year I need less of being. I mean, can we to tell that we're sisters being driven from an emotional place and I need to make decisions with my head and not my heart? Hmm, because I've really made very emotionally driven decisions business, personal and often like over considering everyone else. I'm considering myself, yeah, but I really need to be a bit more logical this year, because I was a bit too emotionally driven this year and love a lot of decisions in my life.

Speaker 2:

Wow, so that was kind of a huge one for me.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, what do you need more of this year? I?

Speaker 2:

Think there's a really beautiful questions, what you need more of this year, like what can you give yourself or gift yourself? Hmm, what was?

Speaker 1:

yours. I put honoring my heart and slow practices the same. It's the same thing. It's beautiful. What about you?

Speaker 2:

I said this year, I need more of putting myself first in In a lot of different settings and doing what feels right for me. Again, often I feel like I need to prioritise everyone else's wants and needs and feelings over my own. And I think that comes with a lot of people that work in our industry, because Naturally, if you're like a people pleasing personality, you want to help people and make them feel good, so you tend to go to industries like this. But I Really think like putting clear boundaries in, because I've had some really good boundaries in Around work and around life and personal life and things like that this year, but I found myself making the boundaries and sticking to them 95% of the time, but then there'd be that 5%.

Speaker 2:

Right, be like I'll just respond to a client now, I'll just book that client in or whatever like whatever the the case was 5% of the time I was breaking that boundary, and what I've learned this year working with my own personal mentor has been you know, if our word is law, hmm, then we'd never nothing breaks those boundaries. So I really want to get better with that and just continuing to show up in. I feel like I've shown up in it much Calm away than what I usually would. Yeah, I really want to continue showing up in that way. Hmm beautiful.

Speaker 2:

The next question is where do I need more consistency? So any area in your life that you want to improve, be more consistent, show up better.

Speaker 1:

What was yours Again with the theme? What do you reckon it might be?

Speaker 2:

See if you can guess being slow and present for you, yep, slowing down and having better balance.

Speaker 1:

Hmm, what about you?

Speaker 2:

Mine was in my health, focusing on my health and fitness and also not over committing, because I tend to over commit myself. I found myself doing that a lot this year. Yep, I'll be ready with that on Friday and then being like holy shit, I haven't even started that project. My health I'm Really. I've really changed a lot of my health practices and my food practices in the last couple of months, hmm, and that's actually been a massive adjustment for me. So I really just want to concentrate on Making sure that I'm focusing on my health and my health goals. So what my goals are for myself, physically and mentally as well, mental health is bloody huge for me. I've had a pretty good mental health year and I really want to carry on with that. I don't think it's been by accident. It's very much been by intention and by creation, but I really want to focus on sustaining those practices and keeping those.

Speaker 1:

Amazing.

Speaker 2:

Setting a goal for your personal growth. So, what is your goal for your personal growth? Issue Tess.

Speaker 1:

Mine was really simple. I was like what with all the slow and the things that I really want to like slow down with and be my present? For I just said that I wanted to do another retreat, probably a yoga one, yes, but then I also was like I really loved our retreat that we did with Beck. I would love to do that again, yes, anything. Just time where I have like three to four days that are completely devoted to that, and you kind of when you're in a retreat and I'm not sure those of you who have done retreats will resonate with this and those of you that haven't I really implore you to take this time to go and do it.

Speaker 1:

Whatever retreat that you want there are so many different options for it but having that undivided time to work on myself whether that's in the yoga aspect, whether that's in a spiritual aspect, whether that's in a personal development, whatever Having that undivided attention and time for yourself it's usually a couple of days that's something I really want to do. So I've put down another retreat in any sense. How beautiful.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, what about you? How do you want to? What's your goal for Tess?

Speaker 2:

I want to take your one because it's a way better answer than mine.

Speaker 1:

Should we commit to it and do it together?

Speaker 2:

Yes, let's go on a retreat. Let's go on to becoming limitless retreat again. That's Beck's retreat Anyone who's up for a good retreat? It was absolutely amazing. Definitely want to do a retreat this year. That was an amazing personal goal, but I said that I so this year sorry, last year, in 2023, I did four containers of personal development just on my own, so not with you, not to do with the business, literally to do with myself, and I completed four with my mentor and I would really like to commit to another four next year of learning stuff. It's not about business, it just will help me in my own mindset and my own feelings. Maybe one of them is a retreat as well. That would be bloody beautiful, beautiful. So setting a goal for your money.

Speaker 1:

That's okay. Next prompt is setting a goal for your money growth.

Speaker 2:

Goal for my money growth, for my personal money growth. I want to. Over the last few months I've really been concentrating on really consciously investing my money. So I'm not talking about going into the stock market, I'm just talking about when I go to make a mindless purchase, if I'm just sitting scrolling at night or whatever and I'm like, oh yeah, this. I thought the other day I was like, oh, I might like to buy this hat you do like a hat, I do like a hat but I'm also like this is never going to fit me anyway, because I was like enormous-sized head.

Speaker 2:

But just mindless. What I'm talking about is really mindless things.

Speaker 1:

You know, when you go into Kmart and you're like, I just need a t-shirt or you get an order and it's like you've got an order waiting for you.

Speaker 2:

And you're like, oh, what's this, what is it? Yeah, totally.

Speaker 1:

So I have. I should mention, your Amazon order is on the table over there.

Speaker 2:

Thank you. Do you know what it is? My produce bags? Because we have a fruit orchard at home and I need to tie the produce bags around the fruit so that the bosoms don't get it.

Speaker 1:

You knew what it was, so I just told you how to package.

Speaker 2:

Yeah Well, I don't do a lot of online shopping. So the last few months I've really been focusing on really conscious in consciously investing my money. So if I'm going to purchase something, okay, you know I've been really in my era of conservative spending this year. I mean, probably a lot of people have in the last 12 months.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you and only you have been doing. This year there's been a real heightened amount of people doing their conservative spends.

Speaker 2:

Yes, but yeah, just being really conscious when I actually hand over money and also being really conscious when I receive money, so saying thank you to money when I receive it in any form, and then continue to the biggest money growth goal that I have is to continue to work on my money mindset, because that's been a really huge thing to work on.

Speaker 2:

I wouldn't even say overcome, but just to get better at and get better with, to really focus on my money manifestation and my money mindset and how I actually feel about money. Because even this came up yesterday with a friend that I was talking to who was like, who used the phrase like because I never have money, and I was like immediately as soon as I heard that, I was like well, hang on a second, you do have money. Is that actually accurate? You are employed. You literally get a wage every single week, so I would argue to say that you actually have an abundance of money flowing towards you every single week. So just even that phrasing around getting better with the way that I talk about money and talk to money.

Speaker 1:

Yep Amazing.

Speaker 2:

So good.

Speaker 1:

Next question Would you want to hear mine? Yes, that's very good. Sorry, it wasn't it. Sorry, ready. That's yours, I didn't really have one for money growth. As I said, I've was that in the last episode that I can't remember if it was today or last week that we spoke about healing my money, mindset yeah that was last week.

Speaker 1:

Great Well, I so I've done a lot of deep healing with my money mindset, but I so I don't really have one. I truly feel like I live in abundance and I always have what I need and I'm always so grateful for what I have. So I didn't really have like a figure or a healing or anything as such. But there is something I want to add into my life that money is required, and that is an over. That is a million dollars.

Speaker 1:

It is a Lamborghini. It is definitely not a Lamborghini. I hate cars. Overseas holiday I really want to. So I said to Mick the other day I'm just letting you know I really want to go on overseas holiday because the last holiday that I went on overseas was with another boyfriend.

Speaker 1:

Imagine going with someone you actually liked, totally Like what a different experience. Totally. So I really want to go and do an overseas holiday. I really don't care where, I don't care who's coming. I mean, well, I'd like Mick to come, but anyone else I'm like, come if you want. If any of you people want to come or go for a holiday, I'm open to it. But that's something I really want to do. That's a money. Goal for me is to go and have a really incredible holiday overseas and then do commit to doing that annually.

Speaker 2:

Totally, that's beautiful. Our next prompt we want you to set a goal for your relationship growth. So if you are not, if you're a single girlie, you can set a goal for any relationship in your life. It might be with your kids, it might be with your friends, it might be with your parents, it could be with your pet. It literally could be with anyone.

Speaker 1:

It's lovely to be pet. That's so nice. I didn't mind about Marty, Did you really? No, I didn't oh that's so nice.

Speaker 2:

So Tess, what was your relationship growth goal?

Speaker 1:

Great. So I've popped down that I want to continue to grow with my compassion, with saying sorry faster and to love harder. That's beautiful.

Speaker 2:

What about you? Mine was that I would like to go away with Pete, because we do adventure a lot like in terms of going away, camping and all sorts of things as a family, and Pete and I went away last year together and had the most magical weekend away in Dalesford. Was it in Dalesford? I don't know where we went.

Speaker 1:

I wasn't there, mate, did I have Sally? Yeah, you had.

Speaker 2:

Sally, and we went away for two nights and it was so beautiful.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, a magical weekend away, and everyone's just thinking you had like heaps of sex. Now I probably did. She's just keep saying magical weekend. No, it was just beautiful, it was really beautiful.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I'll think what you like, but this year I would really like to have two getaways with Pete, without Sally, and I really want on Sunday. So every Sunday night Tess has Sally for us and we get to go away and spend some time and me, because I'm just way. And me we get to go away, and so with Pete and I spend like nice quality time together.

Speaker 2:

And we used to go out all the time. It was really beautiful. And then this year we've sort of gotten a little bit worse at that and now it's just like let's have a bottle of wine and like make out in the spa or something, but still with the sex scene.

Speaker 1:

That's cool. How many 15 years. We're all impressed, pash, do what you want, mate.

Speaker 2:

It's your time to do whatever you want. I don't think I was also doing anything in the spa except for bashing, but I definitely think going out of the house and doing something nice going for a walk together, going out for a drink together, going on some sort of adventure, going out for dinner or something like that.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I think that's what it's so important to, because it's so easy, especially at the start of the year. I feel like and it is, it's like I don't know if it's seasonal, I don't know if it's like just everyone gets tired, whatever it is, but we all start the year really strong, being like you know, everyone's out socializing and running around and all the goals and everything. Everything's high, and then when we get towards the end, it's like I've just got to make it to the end. Yeah, it's like, oh, this year, but I think it's so easy.

Speaker 1:

I said that to make the other day as well. Like you know, I just want us to like start doing things that are. You know, we've been, we've been pretty homebound, which you know is natural when you've moved into, you know, the home of your dreams Totally. But now I'm ready. I said to him I just want us to start doing things more outside of, just like we'll both busy ourselves with chores in the house. So it'll be like you know, I'll be cleaning it or doing things and he'll be out in the garden, and then there's not a lot of like actual time of us just like hanging out or like going and doing something, and I think that's such an easy thing to step back on, especially in your relationship of just getting either caught up in your own shit or not prioritizing that time for that connection. So that's a really totally.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's just that really beautiful present time and that's the thing we've even talked about this recently with one of our clients with in terms of like showing up, being present in your relationship and and really understanding each other's love language and being there for each other in the way that that person needs to receive love.

Speaker 2:

So it's a really beautiful beautiful thing that you can do. It's crazy, though, because we really do prioritize everybody else before we prioritize, sometimes, the people that were in our house. Yeah, you know we prioritize our team, our clients, whoever.

Speaker 1:

Well, I love it. What you? You know, you're the same that you taught me that world gets the best of us and then our partners get the rest. I think that's so true. That's great, isn't it? Nikki? What is a? And listeners, let's set a goal for your business growth. Now, if the business, if you don't have a business or a team or anything like that, I want you to think about what you want to do professionally career, career growth yes.

Speaker 2:

So some actually have a huge percentage of listeners who are employed in the hair and beauty industry as well, which we love that. You guys are like productive girlies and you love to learn with us. So let's set a goal of what how you want to progress in your professional life this year. What's yours, Tess?

Speaker 1:

How you start this one.

Speaker 2:

All right, I set one for conscious and one for head. For conscious, I would like to release six conscious containers, because we released two this year and they sold out really quickly. They've just been a really beautiful way for to work with other people that aren't just in our private community like our private clients. It's been really nice way to make more impact.

Speaker 2:

So I really have loved that, loved to release six of those, and so we also chatted a little bit about going on a we would really like Revlon Digital Conference. So, Revlon professional, if you're listening, please put on a conference for us, and I would love to facilitate ice baths and breath work at that conference. Just gonna put it out there. I told Carla that yesterday she was floating around the idea. I said yes, absolutely we would love to do that. And then I said let's put some pressure on Monica and the crew at Revlon. How good. And then, for a head, you might not like this, but I would love to do a great big renovation.

Speaker 1:

No, I'm good with that. I think it needs a little facelift.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it needs a big face. I'm not talking about a little facelift, I'm talking about like the full nip and tuck.

Speaker 1:

Well, that is no. The little bit is the nip and tuck. The big stuff is like the wait, hang on. Nip tuck is like only small bits. And then the facelift is the big fella.

Speaker 2:

Oh, okay. Well, we're going in with the facelift. So if we're gonna be staying at that property, I would really like to give it a big reno, yeah.

Speaker 1:

If we're gonna be moving.

Speaker 2:

obviously we'll be doing a big reno anyway, so something's gonna change like physically in that space, which is really exciting.

Speaker 1:

Okay, great, that's great. What about you? My role will definitely be changing over the next few years. You know I'm on borrowed time on the floor already and I feel like I know that my time's coming with the tools which I am better with. But I'm starting to talk about that now, so that, first of all, I really want the team to. My focus is wanting to level them up, so even more so with where they are currently, really supporting them in a way that I'm actually able to come in and work with them rather than work alongside them. That's something I really want to have as a goal really leveling up their experience and for them on the floor, that I'm able to support them and like be, I guess, a support to them rather than working alongside them. On clients.

Speaker 2:

Well, being a mentor to them, I think, is like for the team. What they know you as at the moment is like a splash of mentoring, but mostly like a colleague on the floor who's in there with them, which is great and that's been beautiful. But imagine your impact that you could have on the team if you went into more of a mentor role and really leveled that up. That would be incredible.

Speaker 1:

It's definitely what I want to be doing and I think that's the thing. Your time comes on the floor, on the tools, and I can feel mine coming and I've gone further than what I ever thought that I could with my hands. Have been an issue from the very beginning of my career.

Speaker 2:

You've also been working full-time since you were 15 years old. Yeah Like with a couple of weeks break at max. Yeah Like a couple of weeks break.

Speaker 1:

So I definitely think and I very early on I started I'm not going to like make this full be about you know what's. The issues are within my hands, but my hands have been an issue in my career within the first couple of months of me started hairdressing and I had, you know, specialists tell me to leave the I'm. My body does not want me to be a hairdresser, but my heart does. But it's been to a slow, you know decrease. And now what I'm realizing is that my clients will get a better experience within the team than with me and I'd be a better service to the team along like supporting them rather than working alongside them Totally. So I'm really excited to start working on getting off the tools and stepping into really heart led leadership with super aligned team and clients. I think that's something that's really going to light my fire and I think, seeing how that role plays out and experiencing that, I'm really excited to do that.

Speaker 1:

I think when you start realizing that your business can be fully successful and better when you're not Doing the things that you started doing in it, that's a pretty unique moment. That's amazing. We're not quite there yet, but we're getting there. That's my goal. My goal is to have this being my last year on the floor. It's amazing what. Let's hope any clients are listening. They're like what They'll get better from from the others. It's, it's, it's just what needs to happen, I mean that's the thing, though.

Speaker 2:

I think people are so like, as we've always said, a head is so much bigger than you and I, yeah, and it's Like the client experience has been so nurtured within the team. I truly think that it will be such a beautiful thing when that all comes into fruition. I totally agree and for you to be able to do what you do best, which is mentoring. Yeah, like what you did best Five years ago is so different now?

Speaker 2:

I thought you did best five years ago was hair. Yeah, what you do best now is like you've learned so much about personal development and nurturing people and mentoring and training and Guiding and helping people, and that's really where I would love to see you step in.

Speaker 1:

I think it's gonna be great, great, all right, nikki, what can you do to bring in more pleasure in 2020 for 24? Did you just write down trips away with me you do.

Speaker 2:

This is the annoying thing. That peace listening is right now the big, like revolting smile on his face, probably just dying when we come home, and that's just just not the point. That's not you too. That's got nothing, don't bring my main listeners into that.

Speaker 1:

What can you do, guys, all of us, what can we all do to bring more pleasure into 2024?

Speaker 2:

I said bring back adventure.

Speaker 2:

Beautiful because I just want more when I like. When I read the word pleasure I didn't my mind I shouldn't go into the gutter. I thought more of fun, like pleasure of life, as opposed to pose to pleasure in the bedroom. But definitely mine is definitely not pleasure in the bedroom. I'll be clear on that. Pleasure in life, like where can I find more fun and adventure and pockets of happiness? And when I close my eyes and think of what I want out of 2024, I can literally see myself Walking around in like we live in the rainforest. I can literally see myself walking around in the rainforest with my family, smiling, having a beautiful time and being super present, discovering things, hmm, beautiful, hmm, what?

Speaker 1:

about you. Um, I wrote Present downtime saying yes, more and more fun. Hmm, that's an easy, that's beautiful.

Speaker 2:

Okay, our final prompt for our intention setting ceremony of 2024. I Would love to notice what is your word of the year for 2024? So, does my really big on words of the year?

Speaker 2:

We always had a word of the year and we always we always like to constantly remind ourselves of word of the year because, as we said earlier, like it's one thing to have a word of the year, it's like, set your intention of word of the year or whatever, and then just like never look at it and Like, oh shit, I was supposed to do this thing and have my mirror evolved around this one word. So, if this word hasn't come to you yet and it's not coming to you straight away, sit with it and come back to it in a couple of days, because it's really important to be super clear out of it. Once you have your word, put it somewhere where you can see it, put it somewhere where you look at it every single day. I had I had my as my phone background for 2023, for most of 2023. Put it somewhere where you can see it and look at it every single day.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, game changer, what's your word? Test I put. My word for this year is experience. So experiences, experience, experiences, getting experience, gaining experience, just experiencing things. Hmm, that's really want to do that one. That's what's resonating for now. We'll see if it flips. Sometimes I have had words changed in the first couple of days, but yeah.

Speaker 2:

I'm surprised yours isn't like something around, like slow or Around, I think that's gonna be a new experience, though, right like slowing down, yeah, changing things. Now it's definitely not slow, because I feel like that just makes me feel like I'm just gonna, you know, be like that's not, that's not no, I just mean like something to align with, like what your Intentions that you're setting for the, for the year, are in terms of like me more present. Slowing down.

Speaker 1:

No, I don't want to put slow. Slow doesn't resonate. Experience resonates, because I think I really want to have like it. I think that's the thing I really want to be doing is, I've had this big year of expansion. My word this year was expansion and Now I want to experience it. So now I want to be able to be present. I'd still feel like experience definitely comes into presence for me and something you have to be really, you know, conscious of and present with. So experience feels really good. I think that's a really good word. I think it's Definitely what I'm feeling at the moment. I think it doesn't necessarily look so much like the adventure and the things like that, like what you're seeking, but so when I think of Experience.

Speaker 2:

I'm like there's a red balloon voucher.

Speaker 1:

I've had to, but that's the thing, that's honestly what's coming up and that's what's, you know, feeling right for right now, but I think, creating a new experience. I've had a really like regimented way of living for the last few years and I just like a new experience with it all. I think you know, my salon life experience will be looking a bit different. I think my Flipping between all of the hats that we have with the two businesses in the podcast that's gonna have a new experience. I think you know my family unit will have new experiences. My it will all be different. So I'm looking forward to that and to Embrace that and all the new things that I'm not even aware that will be coming like an experiences to come.

Speaker 1:

I'm just ready to experience life rather than just Just Kind of get through it. That's where I really want to be with experience. I want to be like really enjoying and present and not just like ticking off the list that I'm currently doing. Yeah, experiencing it, being that's a real show of being present for me and a real thing of Actually like enjoying my life. Yeah, wow, that's huge.

Speaker 2:

What about?

Speaker 1:

you.

Speaker 2:

What's yours? My word of the year is balance and the way I like I really made a commitment this year of like, okay, cool, this business is going to. All these businesses are going to work for me rather than me working for it yeah, for them, because I was sort of I was really sick of business ruling my life and making me feel so, allowing me to feel so unconscious. So this is all about balance. I just want to have more fun, like I realized, with my life pie the fun, the fun, the funometer is really like quite low, yeah.

Speaker 2:

So I just really want to go back to having fun, like when I think of and you know, I think to some extent you, you know you have a kid and you're like, oh, it gets a bit hard to go out, and things like that. We still do a lot of stuff in terms of not letting having a child restrict us from doing things, but I think just having fun and going back to basics with balancing Work and fun, yeah, it's going to be huge for me.

Speaker 2:

So, balance is my one. I would like to have balance in every aspect of my life. I'm really finding a balance with my health at the moment. I actually found a massive balance with alcohol this year. It was like one of my vices. So balance is really coming through for me. I really would like to live a life more in balance and more in alignment. I guess beautiful, damn, maybe I should have picked a lineman, but we're gonna go with balance.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so I'm gonna put that on in my day in my desk like painted onto a little rock myself and put it somewhere I can see every single day. It's gorgeous. How lovely Guys that was. Such a beautiful.

Speaker 1:

Journal's closed. Everyone Just love it.

Speaker 2:

And let's just all hold hands and our little ceremony circle at the moment. But that was such a beautiful way for us to kickstart the new year and Last week, reflecting on the year that was. It's something that we do every year in our podcast. We did it last year as well, and it's a really beautiful way for us to celebrate and and also see when we maybe aren't being fulfilled in our lives or where we need to give or gift ourselves a little more extra attention. Hmm, beautiful. Thank you so much for being here and for giving yourself this reflection as well and Sitting with you. We would love to hear what your words are for the year.

Speaker 2:

Speaker 1:

And again, if you go to do it and then you stop yourself, push through that and just do it because you will get so much more of it and the other side and it creates connection and, like you, it's so good to do things that make you uncomfortable. So, please put reach out and let us know absolutely.
