Navigating Political Turbulence: Emotional Resilience, Societal Stress, and Maintaining Harmony
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Ever find yourself caught in the emotional whirlwind of post-election reactions? We’ve been there too, and today we're sharing personal stories on how we navigate the increasing tension and polarization that seem to follow every political event. Since 9/11, political polarization has only grown stronger, turning collaboration into a rare occurrence. But we believe in focusing on kindness and understanding, and we're here to encourage you to accept political outcomes without letting anger take control. Join us as we contemplate the balance between coping with political stress and maintaining peace of mind.
Our journey takes us through the societal complexities that accompany political outcomes, urging the need for balance and compassion. We explore the dynamics of government balance and the significance of civil discourse, even when opinions clash. As personal relationships often bear the brunt of political differences, we share insights on how to keep those bonds strong and respectful. Interwoven with humor, like our playful Star Wars versus Star Trek debates, we underscore the importance of sustaining a harmonious life amidst the chaos.
Social media algorithms—love them or hate them, they influence our world. They often amplify negativity, especially during political seasons. We talk about our strategies for managing this digital landscape, from taking breaks to curating positive content that aligns with our interests. Sharing our experiences with unexpected algorithm recommendations, we highlight the humor and stress the importance of a diverse online presence. As we approach our 100th episode, we reflect on personal growth, self-care through hobbies, and the importance of maintaining calm and humor in challenging situations.

Welcome to Common Profit and the Jersey Guy. I'm Lewis, here with Kenny and your favorite Jersey Guy, tom. Get ready for another round of Real Talk, crazy Stories and everything in between, that's right, yes, yes, because we are amazing, we're geniuses in our own mind. Well, okay, yeah. Well, you know why not. I'll go with it this time, yeah.
Speaker 3So what are we talking about tonight? What?
Speaker 1are we talking about tonight? There has been some history made recently and people are pretty just really screwed up about it.
Speaker 3You- know what I mean. Yeah, people are struggling with this.
Speaker 1But I don't know. Just you know we have a rule we don't want to talk about politics, but because of the situation, I think we can point out some things without having to get too.
Speaker 2Yeah, we won't get too crazy. Yeah, we're not gonna try to like pick sides or whatever.
Speaker 3No, right, we're just gonna just we try to keep it apolitical as much as possible as possible so, yeah, you still talk about stuff, but try to keep it, you know.
Speaker 2But we talk about people's state of mind first. You know people's like. We say people are feeling some kind of way, you know, upset or super happy or whatever, just worried and whatnot, those who are just feeling some kind of way. You know. We always say our biggest thing is go and speak to somebody. You know, don't let this. Yeah, just pick up the phone, call somebody. Yeah, pick up, call somebody, don't let this be. You know what is sitting heavy on you.
Speaker 3I do have something interesting to say about this. So it's just, this is like a buildup, if you think about it, because I feel like we're always since, I would say, as early as 9-11, our country started to become more polarized and polarized. Right, and it's just gotten to the point now where like when someone wins, one side is overly gleeful, to the point where, like, they're showing off and the general idea was is you had two parties and you would come together and come to consensus on something in agreement?
Speaker 3and now it's just like who you have more in office so you can get stuff passed through and it's just like so super polarized now it's just we've got so far away from it, and I think that's what this is a result of. So I think that's something that is just good to like realize this is a result of, like high polarization in politics.
Speaker 2Agreed, you know yeah yeah yeah, very much, so I'll agree with that yeah you know, instead, it was tough this week that, no, no, you know you're just saying it was tough this week, you know, for some people and, um, you know, of course, like I said before, extra exciting for others.
Speaker 2Yeah, um, you know we still got to be kind to one another. You know what I mean. We have to. You know, everybody still has to be kind to one another. I think that's just the bottom line. It shouldn't be that anybody's, you know, so excited and so happy that they won, that you know they now become, you know, that kind of rude and right. You know, just be just to be rude. Don't be rude, you know. Fine, it is what it is, you know.
Speaker 2Now we just gotta just be easy yeah, gotta ride it right and anybody else, like I said, on the other end, you know, if you feel in that kind of way, talk it out, don't yell it out, don't fight it out. Whether you're going to go and talk to somebody, talk to friends, go to a group. You know they've got hotlines now, I think from what I understand, yes, they do.
Speaker 1I don't know the number, but they have a hotline for if you're having a political Really, yeah, yeah, yeah, a post-election. Ptsd kind of thing. Yeah, thank you.
Speaker 1Yeah, thought I cut you well I was just going to share, as far as I'm concerned, right, so for me. I know tom was just saying everything he said was exactly right on the money, um, but the, the fact of um, um being involved the way I was I apologize, trying to get my thought back being involved in it the way I was, you know I was, I was online and I did my, I volunteered, I was supportive of who I was supporting, right and the whole time you're thinking, man, what if we lose?
Speaker 3What am?
Speaker 1I going to do kind of thing in my mind. So I guess at that time I was stressing about that already before it even happened, always worried about it. But when it did happen, it didn't happen that way time. I was stressing about that already before it even happened, always worried about it, yeah, but when it did happen, it didn't happen that way it. I did the opposite thing. I said, okay, it is what it is. I am not going to allow this to take any rent, any space in my bearing or anyone right to do that?
Speaker 1absolutely no way, and it I have to accept it because being angry is not right to do that, absolutely no way. And it is. I have to accept it because being angry is not going to do anything. It's not gonna do anything because just it's just going to make it harder for you. Right, just acknowledged and then treat it as is. But you the way you need to, right, yeah, definitely right, so you you have peace of mind.
Speaker 2Yeah, you have to.
Speaker 1You can't let this stuff.
Speaker 2You know, I know it sounds hard, but you can't let it eat you. You have to. You can't let this stuff you know I know it sounds hard, but you can't let it eat you. You know what I mean. You can't let it just get the better of you and cut people off or whatever.
Speaker 2Everybody's entitled to their opinion, their feelings, their thoughts. You know, we have to be in society. We just have to be the better people and talk it out amongst each other because, you know, yeah, everybody has different views. You know, everybody sees things differently, they understand it differently and all that other good stuff. So people just have to really literally talk it out. They've got to be able to sit at a table, you know, or break bread together and just have a conversation, if need be, if some people need to, you know, whatever, but you know that's what we need to do, as, like I said, as a society, as people. Uh, you know that's what we need to do as, as, like I said, as a society as people. You know, brotherly love, love thy neighbor, or the other good stuff. You got to talk it out. You know, I'm not saying that we're the smartest guys on the planet, yeah, but you know, you know it's, it's not going to be like that for a while.
Speaker 2Well, right, not for a little while. Right, right, right. I'm not saying go and do this shit tomorrow, you know they're still in celebration mode right, I didn't even have inauguration day.
Speaker 1Yet that's the big day, but he's not doing anything so far. He can't do anything. He has no power.
Speaker 2He's not doing anything different than any other president.
Speaker 1He's still not even on. He's got to get preparations, he's got to hire people. I'm just saying it's nothing.
Maintaining Balance and Compassion
Speaker 2That's going on. That's going crazy. Like I said, everybody just take a deep breath and recoup. That's going crazy, you know. Just like I said, everybody just take a deep breath and, you know, recoup. We're gonna have to regroup, and you know. And then, when the day comes, we'll go from there.
Speaker 1Yeah, go ahead, we're gonna read let's talk about no. No, I'm looking I'm talking up, so I'm talking with you yeah, yeah, yeah, uh, yeah, um, yeah this, because it doesn't serve you well to be like that. Yeah, it sucks, but you know what? You can't change it right. There's nothing you can do or try to say to make it better. Just accept. Just accept the fact that your side didn't win right um, and but that's all right, you have four years but, you have the midterms in two so and we don't know what's going to happen.
Speaker 1Right, and we'll see what happens now this little, you know, these little I'm going to now of course, if we don't have right, well, depending on who has and it's the republicans, I think, uh, both sides oh yeah, I understand um, as it stands right now, I don't think it they're done. Yet, though I think there's still more people being sad but they don't.
Speaker 1I don't know how that works, so anyway, um, that also depends if they total control, there's really nothing you're going to be able to do, not like you would, if you had some kind of balance where one had the Senate and you had the House. Usually that kind of offsets it a little bit. You know what I mean? Yeah, well, I was just going to say, you know.
Speaker 2Yeah, no, yeah you would. Yeah, I was gonna say, you know, we're only talking about this part, you know, of of, uh, dealing with this kind of stuff because of this past week and all that was going on, um, and we're talking about it.
Speaker 1We're talking about how it works only because we want people to understand how it works. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, no, no, we're not experts on it, but then we, you know, like you know well, I was gonna say that you know this goes to associate with everything.
Speaker 2You know anybody, people that you talk to, people that you deal with. You know whether it's a work employee, you know co-workers or somebody see in the store, or you know you're at a hangout, another party or barbecue. We'll get together whatever you know. It's just how you talk to people, how you deal with people.
Speaker 1You know what I'm saying there's a place in time for there's a place in time for everything.
Speaker 2You know I said just going about your thing, do what you're doing. You know, and, uh, you know, just just be easy. You know, like one of my favorite things, like I say I've said a hundred times love thy neighbor. You know, love each other. You know, be easy, be peace. You know, whatever your views are on almost, you should still be able to sit at a table to come to a compromise. You should still be able to sit at a table, you know, and have a drink together and laugh, because that's only one thing. I can have 50 things.
Speaker 2So the reason to compromise what I get it. You know what I'm saying. You know, there's always something that nobody, nobody agrees on everything together. You know what? Together, you know, I mean, we always see things a little bit different, sure, so that then you know.
Speaker 3But you know, I think star wars is better.
Speaker 2But whatever star wars is done, that's funny it is see, I like I like both.
Speaker 3Yeah, I like both, but I like so, but I you know.
Speaker 1I love Star Wars, but I think I, because I am a child of Star Trek, right Literally yeah.
Speaker 2It's okay, we love you anyway. All right, that went sideways, that went sideways.
Speaker 1Sorry guys, that went geekmo real fast.
Speaker 3You know what I think we did that. That's how we do it at Coffin Crawford in New Jersey. Hell yeah, man.
Speaker 2We have the song battle. Just thinking the same thing I was. You're having the song battles, but yeah, you know what I say. I just want everybody to be good, I want everybody to be healthy. I, I want everybody to be healthy, you know, I want everybody to be able to get along. Like I said, psa would be going to talk to somebody, get some kind of help.
Speaker 1Yeah, that's great. Everybody get along. That's great. You do that fine. But my thing is do you Do what you've always been doing Right? Don't change course on how your everyday day goes. Right, exactly. Yeah keep doing your day, it goes right, exactly. Yeah, keep doing your day. It's gonna maybe suck a little bit more than it usually does it depends.
Speaker 1Well, just say it yeah, yeah, it could right I'm not saying that in a bad way, I'm saying because you know of circumstances. That's what that makes. It would be okay, but go to work right, go to work you gotta do, do what you gotta do.
Speaker 2Yep, go to your kids ball practice or whatever practice, and you know right, or do whatever.
Speaker 1Do something, whatever, yeah, do whatever. Keep your, you know, don't change who you are, keep your routine. Don't get so stressed out to the point where everything is out of whack.
Speaker 3Yes, exactly, and you can't like let something drive you crazy if you know someone is like in the opposite like political spectrum as you, if you're going to like, say, like your kid's softball game or baseball game and you you know that they're on the opposite view, right politically. You can't let it like eat you away right, oh my god not these people right, right, don't get into an argument with them. You know whoever it is, whatever side, it is that you can't let it because, yeah, you can't right. Yeah, not at all.
Speaker 2Yeah yeah, just. And you say yeah, like lucian, just go and have fun and enjoy your life, just not you know're doing.
Speaker 1You know it's going to. It might be, you know, in the beginning. Of course it's. You know it's new, right? You still haven't gone through the process yet. So once he gets in, that's when you need to start to pay attention, right, yep. From that point on, well, you should pay attention to everything.
Speaker 2But what I'm saying? Is at least know what's going on. That's what I'm going to say. So that was our psa for that part of this. So now, like the other way I was thinking about, I said for society, stuff was just about how people are in society. You know what I mean. Like, uh, just how people's um, I said, but this is just a perfect for me. You know the, the, the segue, because of how crazy people get for certain things, you know it was in mind yeah.
Speaker 2So, like you said, you know winning or losing or whatever you know. So winners and sore losers, you know, or super excited winners and losers. You go to some of the kids, ball games and stuff, you know. Or even at work, man, somebody gets something, they do something and they want like all this credit and they're jumping up because the boss liked it. Oh, I did this. I'm like yo calm your happy ass down, like why you know, like you don't have to say he didn't help me, or nothing, or she didn't help me.
Navigating Social Media Algorithms and Kindness
Speaker 2Yeah, of course, take it easy, bro. Like you know, share the wealth, man. You know you don't have to be so daggone nasty, you know, that's that. That's that narcissist stuff, though. Yeah, you know what I mean it is. Yeah, you know, and people need to just calm down and stop. You know, like I said, think of the person you're talking to, think of the people that you're working with. You know it's supposed to be a team, right?
Speaker 1The whole point is that everybody you're not different than I am, because the same laws that apply to me apply to you.
Speaker 2Right right right, right right right.
Speaker 1Now I get that you're on this team and everything you know but it doesn't change how things work you know what I'm saying. So, but I think you know it. Just like you said, it can get to the point where it's uncomfortable you know what I mean, but I never feed into it and I've always tried to not bring that subject up.
Speaker 1Um, I'd rather not talk about it unless there's people I'm comfortable talking about it right, like you guys and stuff like that. Yeah, but you know I try to be smart with it. I'm not the kind of person to like throw it in people's faces and rub it in and live off.
Speaker 2You know, get off on that right that just doesn't do it for me, you know yeah you can't, you can't let the negative vibes bring you down right, because all that negativity and that's like I said, in anything, anything that you're doing, somebody will turn around and try to make a negative in some way shape or form. You know those are the people that have. No, you know that they just they just that they don't have a, uh, an understanding of like I guess I'll call it almost like social cues. You know, like, you know, all right, you don't need to say that, you know oh, of course that you didn't like my sneakers because I got some fly sneakers.
Speaker 1You know what?
Speaker 2I'm saying you don't have to be that kind of mean about it Sneaker heads out there, yeah what are sneaker heads?
Speaker 3Kenny loves sneakers, Sneakers, so, but you know, I think you know you also need to are so like. I have friends from both sides of the political spectrum and I'm just seeing all the like this, like Divide, Like the gloating versus like oh really.
Speaker 3Some posts people are gloating, some posts people are like really depressed and upset and you just get that like dystopic feeling. So for me, I, you know, I I pulled out from social media for a little bit. You know, sometimes you gotta take these breaks from social media, especially when, like anytime, there's like a big thing happening where there's gonna be like divisiveness I always put myself at a social.
Speaker 2See, that's funny, because for me on my social media.
Speaker 3You know'll help out with the, you know, obviously with our social media.
Speaker 2Right, right, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1Right right, that's funny. Whatever you personally you know.
Speaker 2But I think it goes also to what you start to go into. That we spoke earlier. You know, before we started, it's the algorithm you're falling into. So my algorithm is cars and motorcycles. You know what I mean.
Speaker 1So, like then, every time I, anytime I open up my social media, it's I have motorcycles, and then I think mine was all of the above of everything that I liked, but it was mostly probably had to do with well, definitely, if you're like on instagram, you'll see more stuff like that.
Speaker 2Yeah, no I'm all over that, bro man you know what I mean? Yeah, I'm all over it yeah all over it and I and you know it's funny, because when you look for it or you like it, or you watch the video for a certain amount of time, it'll throw you into that stuff, you know.
Speaker 3So, like I, said that's like you like one political right.
Speaker 2I know this, yeah, yeah, it's old, I'm like no, I try to get out of it. I'm like, no, I'm hitting 101 of the other ones I'm watching funny shit, you know to get out of all that stuff. Yeah, it's fucking hilarious bro For me on my social media when I'm looking. I'm like, no, try to get out of it real quick. Do all that crazy shit. Start hitting other searches and stuff. Get out of that whole thing. Throw me something else. I don't want to be in this one. Yeah, get me something. Get this, give me all. Do the funnies. Hilarious man hilarious.
Speaker 3But those algorithms are kind of funny if you think about it because, like on instagram one time, like there, I got like this weird like video that came up. It was like a little person right like dancing and I was like, oh, that's nice.
Speaker 2And I click like and I kept getting videos of like, people with like dwarfs like the head's hanging. Yeah, yeah, yeah, like, let me just send it, it's so weird, Yo and it's funny. That is so random, the funny ones bro, they're freaking hilarious.
Speaker 1That's great man, that's great.
Speaker 2Yeah, you know you saw one of this guy. This dude was running, a little person was running and he goes and he jumps into the water and when he jumps into the wrong man so random.
Speaker 3I like like one video in something very specific.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah yeah, it blows everything out of portion. Like you know, you guys are on my personal. You know I have stuff on my personal page when it comes to politics or anything like that, because that's my personal stuff. But I get a lot of that, of course, will come up on mine. Um, sometimes both um, um. But I have a bunch of other stuff that I'm into that I always have that comes up, like all my Star Trek stuff comes up or anything with the martial arts or whatever. It seems to I have a well-equipped balance. I think it's not just one thing I'm locked in and that's all I'm doing.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, yeah, no, mine too, mine's all mixed up.
Speaker 1Yeah, it should be diverse.
Speaker 2And it's funny because on the stuff that I watch or seen on social media, like photos of my stuff. It's people being kind to one another.
Speaker 3Yeah, you know, what I mean.
Speaker 2Like, I tell you a funny one I saw today, but it was hilarious.
Speaker 1I don't get into it with anybody on social media.
Speaker 2No, no, no, I'm talking about the feed, Like the stuff that you watch when they show the reels or whatever it is. Oh yeah.
Speaker 2You mean like the funny videos his motorcycle right and then and he's got the gopro on his helmet and he's like damn it, how did this shit happen? Now he's hot. You see him moving down the side of the highway or hanging onto the shoulder, and then he finally makes it across the highway and as he starts to go a little bit more, it looks like he's running his. His prosthetic leg hit the ground and some people were trying to help him because some people were trying to help him.
Speaker 2Saying is to be kind, you know, people were trying to help him to get his leg back because they saw what happened, so they stopped traffic so he could get across and stuff. So, like I said, and my point was that it was about people being kind, you know what I mean. They show people that are helping out. You know some old lady or some old man trying to, you know, move their car out of the street because the car died, or helping them with their groceries and stuff like that, you know. But, like I said, that's my feeds, that's the stuff that I get on my stuff. And like I said, bro, you just got to be, you got to be thinking about the other person. You never know what their life is like, you never know what's going on in their mental right. Then, and there you know, think of yourself in there.
Speaker 1Yeah, you think of putting yourself in there. Yeah, you got to figure people. You know any way it went, those people are going to have the bad end of it. Right, you know? And it sucks when it's like that. You're already going through something already, when it already happened. So now to have that on top of someone giving you more shit about it. It's not necessary.
Speaker 3So yeah.
Speaker 1I agree with you as far as be respectful and do the right thing and just don't have to agree with everybody's point of view Right. It's just, you know, like I said, keep to yourself. Yeah, that's what I try to do, mm-hmm, you know.
Speaker 2Yep, like I said, know your audience, you know there's no need to turn around and have all kind of crazy conversations and just be all loud and be all crazy. You know crazy conversations and just be all loud and be all crazy. You know, if you find that person that you can have that kind of conversation with, that you can, you know, have a peaceful conversation, whatever side of the aisle you're on or whatever your views are on anything, then you know cool, have that groovy conversation, you know, uh, and be able to keep a friend you know.
Speaker 1Think of the power though you have when you tell you you make a decision like I did. Tom did the same thing. We were just talking about it. He said I'm not going to allow this to bother me, I'm not going to have this affect me, I'm just going to accept it for what it is and I'm going to do what I always do, and just live my life, but I think that's a good, life-like thing to do, right life lesson With everything.
Speaker 3That's a good life like, like, like thing to do right, yes, with everything you know.
Speaker 1That's a healthy thing to do and that's a good thing. That's a big step in your life when you think about that, too, you come to that and you're able to for me, I absolutely will say I come a long way for me for me to be like that because I'm just like I thought you would be yeah, out of your mind, and I thought I was gonna yeah, because I was stressing about it the whole time going through it.
Speaker 1So when it happened, I was like all right I don't know why, but just a switch went off and I was like, well, what am I gonna do?
Speaker 3I was. You know I was surprised, but I wasn't surprised, no I wasn't either you know what I mean.
Speaker 1It was like I was like.
Speaker 3I was like, I was like well, yeah, okay yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 1Yep, but yeah, so I mean, it's just that's how it happens, you know, yeah, definitely, definitely.
Speaker 2Again, just hope everybody just be easy. You know, nobody get crazy. I know a lot of people were in their feelings. A lot of people were. Are you know still crazy? I know a lot of people were in their feelings. A lot of people were, are you know, still? You know, yeah, granted, it's only been a few days or whatever, and everybody's thinking of what the future is right, how it's gonna look and whatnot. You know, myself included.
Speaker 1I would just void a whole conversation with anybody in reference to oh yeah, definitely you're gonna try listen. If you're already bothered by it and you don't want to talk about it, then don't associate with those you know who, or try to stay out of it or remove yourself if you have to.
Speaker 3Also, you know, to anybody listening, if you're going to come onto our social media and try to like argue with us, we're just going to, we're not going to be. We're not going to be giving you know if anybody's going to say, like you know this or that we're not to be.
Navigating Holiday Celebrations and Conversations
Speaker 1Yeah, this was just like. This is more say episode, you know, listen. Yeah, all right. So, yeah, we're a little outside our lines on this one, so but I thought it was necessary.
Speaker 3Right because in general, but like we're not, gonna get into arguments with people and that I'm, and that's the way I I am personally. Now, you know there was a time when I would be like very argumentative yeah, it's not even worth it.
Speaker 1It's not. I don't do that anymore. That's what I'm saying. That's the whole point. It goes exactly to what we were just saying. Right, that just not to even feed into it. Yeah, I don't, yeah you know, okay, whatever, yeah, yeah, I'll do me that's it I'll take care of my own yeah, I think it's.
Speaker 3I think it's just like a growing period. You know what I mean. What people were in general like. We just need to like, just not be.
Speaker 1You know what I mean. I almost feel like it needs to happen, just so it's done, kind of thing. You know what I mean? Like all right, this is going to happen, let's do this, let's do it Right.
Speaker 2Yeah, and that's what I'm saying, and hope that you know.
Speaker 1Hey, listen, if we get lucky, Right, great. If not, yeah. See you on the other side, right? I'm just kidding. I'm kidding, no shit, I'm just joking, yeah, yeah, yeah, all seriousness. Yeah, yeah, just like I said, it's a touchy subject because we're not here to talk about either one who's right, wrong or whatever, it's just about the people's mental, everybody's mental, society's mental, one way or the other for people's defense.
Speaker 1I think people need to be on defense and scope. Watch your surroundings. If you see something that'll look right. You see somebody's out of whack, go the other way. Yeah, you know, use your instincts, don't you know, second guess, of course absolutely I don't mean anything and I don't mean to say it like that, but I mean like, if you're uncomfortable, oh, I don't want to go.
Speaker 2You know, sometimes we hear people over talking or whatever you know and and like no, yeah, don't change what you're doing just because of you know, keep it moving, don't? You know? Don't, don't initiate, but don't, don't you know, don't do anything that's going to antagonize anybody else. You know, I said either side doesn't make a difference. Just Be easy. Be easy, take it easy. We're going to get through this, okay take it easy.
Speaker 1Yeah take it easy. You don't have to go crazy. I mean, listen, you know. Again, history happens and sometimes it's not always the way we want it to be Right and we happen to be, you know in this life.
Speaker 3We're not monoliths, but it's lifeolith, but it's life.
Speaker 1now, you know me better so we get to do this.
Speaker 3I said you know, we're not a monolith society, we're always going to have disagreements exactly it's good, but when it gets out of hand it's not good.
Speaker 1and I think Kenny is right. People really should listen to it. I don't think that's going to happen for a while you know, definitely, definitely.
Speaker 2Yeah, there's a lot of power. Yeah, things are going to be all right. You know what I'm saying. Things are going to, are going to, are going to pan, you know, um, and, and I think things are gonna be calm for a while. You know what I mean? Yeah, that's what my vibe is, bro.
Speaker 1I'm speaking to the universe. That's great. So, speaking to the universe, hey listen, I spoke to the universe and we lost the election.
Speaker 3I'm just saying it's how you said it I'm gonna be enjoying stuff like that citadelic sunrise. This guy yeah.
Speaker 2Absolutely. Absolutely that was good, no lie man that was good. That's funny as hell. Yeah, just got to find your peace, man.
Speaker 1Keep yourself busy, yeah.
Speaker 2Do extra.
Speaker 3Do some projects or something Take up a hobby, pick up things that you like. You know what?
Speaker 1I'm going to finally paint that bedroom and do whatever.
Speaker 2Yeah, you could be a botanist now for real. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Do like that M&M commercial where the kid goes in with the he's tattooed all over the place. You seen that one? No, I haven't seen that one. Yeah, it's funny. He's in the first date with the girlfriend and she turned around and the parents see him and they're like what are those? And they point to his sneakers. He goes oh, I'm a botanist, and the dad likes to prune trees or whatever bushes. So he's like grab yourself a pair of pruners and he goes out and does it. That's going to be Tom. Okay, you got to see it, it's great.
Speaker 2I'm surprised you haven't seen it? No, I haven't saw it out. But yeah, yeah, nah, listen, we're gonna be alright. People keep, if everybody keeps their head right, you know, nobody tries to go off the deep end, um.
Speaker 1I just think we should talk about something different yes, okay.
Speaker 3Yep, so Part two of the show yeah.
Speaker 1Part two.
Speaker 3Well, no, I'm just saying we can just say it over and over. I don't want to keep saying it Over and over again. No, no, no, I know we are so yeah.
Speaker 1You know, life has gone, so now we hope Our 100th anniversary, or I should say Episode, is coming up.
Speaker 2Yes, that's going to be coming up. Is it the next one? 90, that's going to be coming up soon. Is it the next one? No, it's two more. It's by Christmas. That's six more. It's by Christmas, isn't it? Next month?
Speaker 1So I think we've got to figure out something nice that we can do for that.
Speaker 3It's coming soon.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 3We'll do something special.
Speaker 2Yeah, so you know it's going to be cool. I said if we can get people in the next few episodes, well, next month.
Speaker 1Well, I was thinking of Frankie coming on, okay, because he talked to me and he said can you do one on the holidays? I said yeah, if you want. Yeah, absolutely, he loves Christmas.
Speaker 2He's not starting already bro?
Speaker 1is he Bro?
Speaker 2that's his holiday and he loves the music and he has his own stuff, his genre, and he would be good for the show to listen to Frank.
Speaker 1Very cool, yeah, yeah, see no.
Speaker 3I'm losing it. You know we should have him on like next week or something.
Speaker 2No, it's too early. Thanksgiving hasn't even gotten here yet. We just got out of Halloween and people are really trying to put.
Speaker 1I know I'm a Thanksgiving guy, so Thanksgiving's coming up and I'm looking forward to that holiday.
Speaker 2Right right, but it's the next holiday, so it's okay for you to celebrate it, and my house is decorated in Thanksgiving, because I am still one of those who believes you can't put Christmas stuff up.
Speaker 1Now you got to do Thanksgiving. Yes, thanksgiving's a great holiday. Yes, it's probably the best holiday in my book for me. Okay, I get about Christmas and I get the whole idea, but as far as there's really nothing you have to do, you mean like the feast, it's like or-. You just relax, you watch. You know there's nothing you watch the football game, Right. You watch the dog show.
Speaker 2I didn't even know it's on Thanksgiving. Yeah, every year.
Speaker 3That's hilarious, you know what I like. Right after the parade it comes on, I like in the morning yeah, watching the parade. Yeah, I need breakfast on the couch, maybe some toast or something coffee Just snuggle down with the blankets just watching the parade.
Speaker 2Yeah, that's nice. It's a great holiday man.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, yeah, turkey here I don't know where we were doing it. How about you? You haven't had one where you want to wait?
Speaker 3yeah, well, we're gonna have our.
Speaker 1You know we we have our friends over okay, thanksgiving, so you know you're thinking about who we're thinking maybe we might be doing it at the house yeah I'm not sure.
Speaker 2Yeah, I'm going out of town for turkey but no, I don't.
Speaker 1I don't want to go nowhere. To be honest with you, I'd rather just stay home.
Speaker 3My friend does uh, thanks, living too. That's always done on a day, not on Thanksgiving. It's like thanks, what now? Living thanks, living vegan Thanksgiving what day is that it? I don't, there's not like a set date, but I'm going by my friend's house, my friend Stephen's house, on Sunday. On that Saturday, yeah, should be good. Yeah, all right cool.
Speaker 1Yeah, I didn't even know there was such a thing. We bring everybody, you know, I know Because we're not vegans.
Speaker 2That's why, that's right, we do it.
Speaker 3Yeah, that's the inside thing.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. It's the inside. You got to be in it.
Speaker 3No, but no, you know we do that. It's like a potluck, we do like a cookbook your mashed potatoes.
Speaker 1So how do you make them? How do you make your potatoes? Because it's vegan right.
Speaker 3So, how do you do it? So I just use oat milk instead. And then, there's vegan butter. There's different brands of plant-based butter, but I am a garlic in the mashed potatoes guy.
Speaker 1Of course that you can do real. You don't have to do anything to that.
Speaker 3I'm just saying, like, whether you're vegan or not vegan, you got to put garlic in it.
Speaker 2It's just like a little hidden.
Speaker 3Garlic's good for you my friend, Throw a couple right in the pot with the water Just throw a couple cloves in there.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, yeah, it keeps the vampires away.
Speaker 1Throw a whole bulb in bro. Yeah, if you have to, why not? Yeah, it's good stuff. Yeah, garlic's great man. That's funny. Yeah, yeah I like getting up in the morning and, like tom said, having coffee, have the thing on.
Speaker 3You know, I get up usually, I sleep a little late, you know, and I come down I watch the parade a little bit. I catch the end of it.
Speaker 1You know, um, maybe a breakfast, then I watch the dog show breakfast dog show is on.
Speaker 2Yeah, that's freaking hilarious. Yeah, get to see the schnauzes yeah, yeah, see all the dogs every.
Speaker 1Really, when you think about it, that's great Great show. Man, listen, I I'm surprised you guys didn't even watch it.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, yeah, no no, I sleep in a little bit watching cartoons. Cartoons are good, that's what I do. Eat cereal, then the games start playing and then, depending on who's coming over, that's right football that's right thanksgiving. Another thing, that's what tom was saying before. Yeah, watch the football game, pumpkin pie.
Speaker 3Yeah, no oh yeah, I have I love pumpkin pie, that's like vegan why can't you eat a?
Speaker 1fucking pumpkin. You can't eat a pumpkin no, I, I.
Speaker 3Every year, someone brings, always brings a vegan pumpkin pie. You know how is it? Oh, because of what else?
Speaker 1is in it. You just swap the ingredients out. You know what I mean. If you can't, you know you use a pumpkin but you use other things to right.
Speaker 3I got you Like, any dairy ingredients you replace with, like a vegan version, like coconut cream is a good one to replace with heavy cream. Right, the canned coconut.
Speaker 1Gotcha.
Speaker 3Like milk, that's like heavy cream. You know what I mean. You replace that. It's very easy to swap certain ingredients. But you could look it up online. You say vegan pumpkin pie, you'll find a billion recipes. But yeah, I love all the staples. It's just veganized like stuffing. You just change it's literally bread and you know, use a vegetable stock or even have like there's, like you know, no chicken stocks or no beef stocks, they call them, or it's like kind of you know it's just got spices, that kind of give it like that beefy flavor. I don't know, I get it, maybe mushrooms or whatever, but anyway, getting a little too off topic. But what I'm saying is is like, yeah, so like you could just veganize pretty much anything you know. And then for like turkey, we always get like the Tofurky, tofurky.
Speaker 1I love it. I'm a polyamorous, I'm sorry. You know like there's different brands.
Speaker 3But yeah, I know, you know what it is. So, like the mock meats, like obviously if you're not vegan you're not going to be interested. You know, what I mean. It's going to sound weird.
Speaker 1No, no, I'm not, I wasn't no no, I know. It's always a weird thing, yeah, no.
Speaker 2It's going to be a day you're going to have to come over here with a turkey, a vegan turkey, yeah.
Speaker 1Hell yeah, I'm not sure.
Speaker 2Hell yeah.
Speaker 3We won't out. My friend gave me this, yeah, yeah, yeah, see, you know what I see I it's funny. You know, some, some vegan restaurants are really good and some aren't, and I made the mistake. I brought a little one for one time. I brought him to a good one and it was, but then I brought him to a bad one. He's like this is horrible because pancakes were the worst but, they were.
Speaker 2You know what it was they were chickpeas.
Casual Conversations on Work and Dining
Speaker 3You know what? Yeah, chickpea pancakes.
Speaker 2You know what the problem is they don I hate chickpeas.
Speaker 3Instead of using regular flour, they used chickpea flour for pancakes.
Speaker 2What the hell is that? It was horrible. They tasted nasty.
Speaker 1And they were like they did not look like pancakes.
Speaker 3I just wondered you know why? Because it was a gluten-free vegan restaurant.
Speaker 1It was, it was.
Speaker 3It was a gluten-free vegan restaurant.
Speaker 2So they used alternatives. Besides, like you can make your whole restaurant gluten-free though that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 1Yeah, gluten-free doesn't mean you have to use chickpeas, but you don't have to be gluten-free. Well, they did, because that was their preference, right?
Speaker 3So it was vegan and gluten-free.
Speaker 1Right.
Speaker 3So you know what I'm saying it doesn't matter.
Speaker 1Listen, it was an experience that I never had before.
Speaker 3I'm thankful I but when we went to the Chinese. I despise chickpeas. I wish all chickpeas would die.
Speaker 1Oh, I do hate them. But when we went to the Chinese restaurant I had the wonton soup. That was great. It was a vegan, yeah, it was vegan. It was a big bowl of wonton soup. Oh yeah, yeah, it was great, it was fantastic. It was like this is really good.
Speaker 3That was edgy heaven. That's a good place. They have three locations and they just opened up a fourth one, and they opened it up in.
Speaker 1I don't know, downs Veggie Heaven, I love it. That's a great name, that is hilarious, but you know what's funny Like?
Speaker 3the word vegan scares people a lot, so they actually use. They don't call their place a vegan restaurant. They vegan restaurant. They call it a vegetarian restaurant, even though it's really vegan.
Speaker 1Well, hey, listen, if you got to get around this somehow, it makes it better for you. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's funny you know it's not like you're not going to eat what's in the restaurant to begin with.
Speaker 2So yeah, you're going in there because you like the menus Right.
Speaker 1It's all turkey. Yeah, I don't think we're gonna have people over.
Speaker 3We might maybe the kids you know, maybe you know like the normal, usual stuff, right, right, right um.
Speaker 1But then I don't know if about this is just far ahead. I don't think that you know it's not ready. I'm not, I'm not there yet, because I'm not.
Speaker 3You know, thanksgiving, yeah, for me it doesn't work anytime I've gone to uh veggie heaven I've brought like relatives there. They're always like so afraid they're like I'll just get something with the vegetables. I don't want any of that fake meat stuff.
Speaker 2Yeah, right, right.
Speaker 3They're like all, terrified of it. I don't know why They'll just be like just give me the best stuff. I don't know.
Speaker 2Because nobody wants to taste the fake meat. Yeah.
Speaker 3You know what I mean, but it's not bad, it's just different.
Speaker 2You know what?
Speaker 3I, I don't tell people, I'm never like oh, it tastes exactly like this Right, right, yeah, well, right, it's like that expression. You just got to say like it tastes different. Right, it's like that expression.
Speaker 1when everybody says and I don't mean to say this and insult at all, you know it tastes like chicken.
Speaker 2Well then, eat chicken.
Speaker 1Yeah, everything tastes like chicken you know what I mean.
Speaker 3Right, everything tastes like chicken. Right, my son had rattlesnake. I like the Matrix or alligator.
Speaker 1I think the Matrix he's like, and I'm like, really I'm like he goes yeah, it tastes good, it tastes like chicken. I'm like it tastes like chicken. Remember in the Matrix he said that he's like maybe the simulation doesn't know what it tastes like, that's why everything tastes
Speaker 2like chicken.
Speaker 1Exactly, that's true, you won't know.
Speaker 2You don't know. I was watching that shit the other day too. I know all the words you're citing.
Speaker 1That whole thing. I think it's a good day just to relax in general because, you don't have to do anything, you're not really rushing around. Maybe you have some people come over. Then you chill, you eat a little bit more, you just relax you don't have to go anywhere right right. Tanya the um the black friday stuff she always does yeah I think she does it online or she'll do it wherever.
Speaker 3I don't know how she does it.
Speaker 2I don't even really get into that friday. Oh, maybe let's see what that's. A big holiday went around thanksgiving because I think we gotta be home, because the wife is starting a a pastime little hangout. She wants to do a second job and I call it like that because she just wants to do something else.
Speaker 1You know what I mean, like what Is she going to sex phone or what? No, bro, listen, that's just for me no you mean like seasonal?
Speaker 2Yeah, she's going to do a seasonal retail store thing From home.
Speaker 3No, no no, she's going to go out and work at the actual store.
Speaker 2Really yeah, she. Yeah Because, like I said, she just wants to do something a little bit different. She's never done it.
Speaker 1There's no kids in the house right now, she wants to keep herself busy.
Speaker 2She wants to go and keep herself busy. She's going to go do that to keep busy. Obviously I'm not doing something.
Speaker 3I don't envy anyone who does retail. I worked in retail for a few months.
Speaker 2Yeah she never has never worked retail.
Speaker 1She's always been clever Well that's another thing with the Black Friday. Remember when you used? To stand outside the retail stores. I did it a couple of times.
Speaker 2That's why I want to go out this year for.
Speaker 1Black Friday no, I'm not doing that anymore. I want to just go out there and see I wanted my stuff offline.
Speaker 2No, well, I didn't say I wasn't.
Speaker 3I already asked the kids here right now, but I already put out the memo to the children's is like yo listen, y'all need to send me your list of uh, christmas wants right, you know, yeah, anyone works. I wasn't thinking about anybody else. Think about like I'm very thankful for the people who work in retail, because that is not an easy job yeah, that is a hard world it's a hard job, yeah, that is yeah, I did it a long but when I worked in it I was in a different position, so I had had a little bit more.
Speaker 3I worked in retail for a few months.
Speaker 1I worked for a few years for a retail store and I had that same position.
Speaker 3But I worked in aggressive sales and that was tough. I tell you know like well I could say because the company's not in business anymore. I mean they still sell. Starbucks bought them out, but like Teavana was working there and they had these like um, because I was like I was in between jobs, like let me try work in retail, and I was like, and they had these uh expensive, like cast iron teapots and you could like, try to talk people into buying them right, oh, that kind of stuff, yeah, yeah, when you were in the supermarket.
Speaker 1Yeah, would you like to taste a little hot dogs today?
Speaker 3people would have buyers remorse all the time and return them. No, I'm good All the time. I don't have none of that problem man, I don't have that problem, man.
Speaker 2No, tanya doesn't either, why I don't have that problem.
Speaker 3You can't. No bullshit, People would sell them shit and they really didn't want to buy it that's funny as hell.
Speaker 2Yeah, no, I did retail at a fabrics and crafts store and I did it at a, at a, at a record store. Well, it was a CD and video store, okay, and man, I sold. I wish I would have been able to get commission on all the stuff that I sold. People like cause they didn't have values remorse when I sold them their shit. You know like yeah, you buy this. What kind of music do they like? Yeah, buy this one. They like movies yeah, get this one. Check out this Laserdisc. We used to sell Laserdiscs.
Speaker 1I'll push it off.
Speaker 2Yeah, we used to sell Laserdiscs and you know the whole movies.
Speaker 3And they were like wow, this is great. I'm sorry, I don't know Go ahead.
Speaker 1Kenny brought it up, might as well, talk about it. This podcast went totally all over the place.
Speaker 3Yeah, I know we're all over the place today, but you remember those in the mall they would try to like buff your nail.
Speaker 2Let me show you, yeah yeah, yeah, but you know what?
Speaker 3They were like oh gosh, I was like you like this to be like 50 bucks. I'd be like what? And they'd be like okay, 25 and be like you were just gonna sell me.
Speaker 1Uh, listen, you were quick, you cut the shit in here.
Speaker 3Nah, the coolest shit was I mean I'm exaggerating, but they would cut it down so much it's like oh my god you were gonna scam me. You were gonna try to sell me that for 50 listen, it would for me.
Speaker 2I used to have a good time going to the malls, bro, bro, around Christmas. I still like going to the malls at Christmas time and just seeing what's around and all the kiosks and see all the stuff that people are selling, because they got some really good ideas, man. They got some really cool things that come out. There was one that my ex-sister-in-law she had sold. They were selling books with the kids' names in it. So like, um uh, today chase got on the train and chase went down the street.
Speaker 1You know, uh got on the train and so it's sorry, but it has his name. His name, yeah.
Speaker 2So instead of like winnie the pooh, which chase's name is. Yeah, that was really groovy man that was.
Speaker 1That was one of the coolest ones um, but you always see all that crazy stuff come out.
Speaker 2Yeah, the um the um, the clothes or the and the christmas ornaments that they have the people's names on. You see the different ones in there. The calendars come out like yeah you know, I like that you can get the pictures too.
Speaker 1Yeah, right in front of the fireplace. Yeah, yeah, yeah, sit on the easter bunny's lap and stuff, you know, yeah, I don't like them.
Reflecting on Unconventional Podcasting Journey
Speaker 2And not the easter bunny, he mean pilgr. I mean, I meant to say the Pilgrims.
Speaker 1Listen, I have to say before we end, this podcast is definitely probably one of the ones we didn't have any rules in regards. We went halfway through, yeah, and then just switched up real quick.
Speaker 2And then we switched it up.
Speaker 1Actually, I thought it was very interesting.
Speaker 3I was like, like you know, what we.
Speaker 2That means we need to stop talking about it, so we did the right thing, yeah, so anyway, hope people listen this far into the freaking thing though, because you know we went from, we enjoyed it.
Speaker 1It was like therapy for us.
Speaker 3Yeah, yeah, I'm glad you enjoyed a roller coaster ride.
Speaker 1So, that being said, love peace and hair grease, live long and prosper and go vegan.
Speaker 2Thank you for listening.
Speaker 1Hello, hello.
