Navigating the Multiverse: Parallel Worlds, Sci-Fi Inspirations, and the Ethics of Alternate Realities
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Imagine being able to choose your own adventure through parallel universes—what if alternate versions of ourselves exist just a dimension away? Join us as we embark on an extraordinary journey through the multiverse, inspired by the captivating yet mind-bending concepts of parallel worlds and alternate realities. We fondly remember the TV show "Sliders" and ponder over whether our dreams might offer glimpses into these hidden dimensions. Could we be seeing through the eyes of our alternate selves? With a nod to sci-fi's most intriguing narratives, we explore how shows like "The Twilight Zone" and "Black Mirror" have shaped and challenged our understanding of reality and existence.
The multiverse isn't just a playground for the imagination; it poses serious questions and ethical dilemmas. As advancements in telescope technology allow us to gaze back into the past, we consider the thrilling yet perilous prospects of meeting other versions of ourselves and the cosmic dangers that await. Black holes as gateways? A multiverse travel guide? Our discussion navigates the fine line between science fiction and possibility, with humor injected as we imagine a "menu" of universes to explore. The consequences of meddling in alternate timelines tickle our curiosity, as well as our conscience.
Sci-fi enthusiasts, brace yourselves for a nostalgic dive into the world of alternate realities! We reminisce about iconic series that have dared to venture where reality blurs, from the race and historical narratives of "The Twilight Zone" and "Sliders" to the unsettling yet thought-provoking "Black Mirror." These stories don't just entertain—they offer a mirror to our own lives, posing questions about technology's dark side and the 'what-ifs' of history. As we dream of transcending human limitations and perhaps even becoming cyborgs, we end with a playful salute to sci-fi's wisdom: leave timelines undisturbed, live long, prosper, and maybe even try going vegan.

Welcome to Common Crawford and the Jersey. I'm Lewis and your favorite Jersey guy, Tom. Get ready for another round. We'll talk crazy stories and everything in between. Hello, gentlemen.
Speaker 2Hello, my homie yeah well that's for sure.
Speaker 1We're talking about everything.
Speaker 3Everything, everything, yeah, everything everything, speaking of everything in between, I think today we're going to be talking about some, we're going to be talking about parallel universes.
Speaker 2So that's in between, because it's literally in between Right, in between universes. Parallel universes, crazy stuff.
Speaker 3So what is a parallel universe? Maybe we can explain to people. It's a universe that's parallel.
Speaker 1Let me see so in a parallel universe.
Speaker 3It would be something that Is a universe that Looks like us, but it's different Runs the same way.
Speaker 1The concept of a parallel universe and the multiverse is a fascinating topic full of theories, and expand on understanding of the reality. Here's an overview what could make a great addition to the podcast episode. I'm reading stuff that happened already. Parallel universes the idea of parallel universes, suggests that there are alternate realities that exist alongside our own, possibly with different versions of ourselves, events or even entirely different laws or physics. In these universes, history may have unfolded differently, creating a world of range from nearly identical to vastly different from ours.
Speaker 2That is.
Speaker 3Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2That's pretty interesting, See. So now.
Speaker 3Vastly different or slightly. I mean so in a parallel universe. Maybe we're all female versions doing this podcast.
Speaker 2I'd be an ugly chick. That's one one. Yeah, I'm one ugly chick.
Speaker 3I one one. Yeah, I'm one, I'm sorry yo I don't know.
Speaker 2I doubt it, bro.
Speaker 3Okay, I'd be an ugly ass chick or yeah, we're just like yeah fucking charlie's angels that'll be weird or opposite your eye.
Speaker 1That would be weird. Oh man, that would be so high.
Speaker 2No more rick and Morty for you, bro.
Speaker 1Or we're Stop it with that stuff. It's too much already.
Speaker 3We're three muscle men.
Speaker 2Yeah, we're here to pump you up To pump you up, that's right, that was good shit right there.
Speaker 1The multiverse theory. Multiverse theory takes on the concept of further by opposing a vast collection of universes, each with its unique properties. That might include many worlds interpretation, bubble universes, the brain, multiverse, the brain the brain multiverse, oh the b-r-a-n-a. B-r-a-n-e. Oh, brain E A Okay Is that wrong?
Speaker 2I don't know.
Speaker 1Well, however it's pronounced, it's a multiverse. Okay, in string theory, some scientists propose that our universe is a brain, a three-dimensional surface with a higher dimensional space. Other brains or brands could be parallel universes within the space.
Speaker 2Hmm, okay.
Speaker 1Hmm, okay. So there'll be a universe already inside the universe. You're in Right.
Speaker 2Is that. What they're saying Is that like the men in black when the universe is in Orion's belt. Yeah, in.
Speaker 1Orion's belt yes.
Speaker 3Or no, that was. The galaxy is in Orion's belt. The galaxy is in Orion's belt, yeah right right right, it could be well.
Speaker 2Yeah, right right, right and could be Well. I mean again, we've seen how many cartoons shows, movies.
Speaker 1Movies and everything's kind of close to what it Right, but their own version of how it would happen. Remember.
Speaker 2Sliders.
Speaker 3UFC Sliders. That was a perfect example. That, that was the perfect example. That was the whole parallel universe.
Speaker 2I loved that show that was an amazing show. It showed what ifs. It was a lot of what ifs they would slide into different parallel universes like the dinosaurs, like rule the earth like survivors.
Speaker 2Yes, there was an episode where the Germans would have won yeah, yeah, I was just gonna say that that was that was a wild one. Yeah, that was a good one. They had one. Um, if in you know, when it came out, like 20 in 2000 or whatever, was that the 50s and the 60s the way everybody dressed, the zoot suits and the kind of music and the swing and everything were still around.
Speaker 3Oh, oh, there was one as if. Like it was like we're still in the cold war. Yup, they didn't. Yes oh no new technology was allowed since 1950.
Speaker 2That was what you were. Yeah, that's one of the ones. Yeah, like that.
Speaker 3No, that was another one, like it was, like Cuba, where they're still driving around.
Speaker 2Yeah, right, yeah, they had a lot of good ones, man.
Speaker 3I never really watched that show, though oh dude I watched that faithfully.
Speaker 2Man Sounds like it was a good show. It was an awesome show, For sure. I remember watching it.
Speaker 3when Netflix first started streaming, I binge watched it.
Speaker 2Oh, really, it was on Netflix.
Speaker 3Yeah, when it first came out. Oh, I'm going to have to look for that now, because I might be now.
Speaker 2Yeah, well, still, I mean it got to be somewhere, even like on Tubi or some shit.
Speaker 3But I remember I rewatched like the whole series.
Speaker 2Yeah, oh, dude, it was such a great show. But that is perfect of parallel universe because and you know so now, they say now too that when we dream about ourselves doing other things, that that's us in that parallel universe, is it that's us in that parallel universe, is it? Yeah, so, like you know, like um race car drivers, uh, um architects, um singers or actors and whatnot, that's us dreaming about ourselves in another universe. And that multiverse, you know, not so much the superhero stuff, I mean, you know, I guess it's like whatever, but um, you know, because I think that's more of a dream or fantasy than you know what, maybe, but you never know. You know, but like, even, like we say, with the flying cars and stuff, like that.
Speaker 1That's not doing things, no, no.
Speaker 2I'm saying like that's the dreams that you, if you have, though that that's in that multiverse because of all the things that could be something and the sci-fi stuff. Yeah, whatever it is, it's dead. You know, that's what they'd be cool if it looked like that, you know well, and again it's different. That's the whole thing. So in the idea, in the multiverse is your.
Speaker 2It is the same time the same time like it's 2024 and what it is and how we're living like this, but somewhere else it's advanced civilization, it's um, or you know old civilization, you know things that are going on, that oh I was thinking it was the same, because it's a different universe.
Speaker 1It's you, but it's. The circumstances are different. You're either a woman now or or uh oh yeah, no, no, the situation is totally different, but it's basically the same time. Yeah, same timeline, but it's just a different time on, it's right it's, it's, uh, whatever.
Speaker 3The date is november. Yeah, right, yeah, but it's the same time, same timeline, but it's just a different same timeline. It's, you know, it's, it's, uh, whatever. The date is November.
Speaker 2Yeah, right, right, yeah, but it's the same timeline, but you're in a different, it's a totally different yeah no, but it's also, you know, technology still, uh, like we're all walking around in togas, kind of thing. You know what I mean?
Speaker 3or that you know, or we could be like uh, times of jesus, like um yep, like we never, like there was no separatist like the united states was never, right, it stayed part of a british colony and right, just an extension of exactly, yeah, right, that kind of stuff, that's crazy shit, yeah, but that's cool though that's the idea of the multiverse.
Speaker 2It's just all the different things that we could be, that could be a multiverse, you know it could be something like that, or like a multiverse where no one ever found.
Speaker 3You know, it's still native americans living here, right?
Speaker 2no colonization right no one even like no one bothered across the atlantic right that could be another yeah, like, we're still like that would be american indians, that would be a good one we're native.
Speaker 2We're native americans, like you know what I mean. Like that's, we are, that instead of being, you know, white, irish, jewish, spanish, black, whatever, like it's not any of that, we'll just, we're here, you know right, and living, uh, like apocalypto, you know what I mean. Like it's just the tribes and the villages and stuff like that, you know, and uh, it's just so many different things so that you, we, it would be cool if we could do that, you know, like to me, it could be or it could just be an alternate timeline where Kennedy wasn't assassinated right, yeah, and what?
Speaker 2the whole timeline just gets shifted, yeah, like almost like like back to the future.
Speaker 3Remember how they had alternate timelines.
Speaker 1That's going back. You skewed the timeline.
Speaker 2Yeah, right yeah, and they talked about that in Loki when he had to go to the what's it called. That was a great series by the way. Same idea, bro, is that you know this is the timeline, and then it's just all the branches.
Speaker 3So same thing, same idea, oops, sorry. Same idea as a parallel universe, right. One thing could be different from it could be have an exact universe as us and one thing could have changed and set the whole course of history different yeah, exactly like I wanted lincoln didn't get assassinated. Well, that would be like a major right. American history would be completely different. Yeah, yeah, it would, it would absolutely be different.
Speaker 2Yep, yeah like if he didn't get assessed. Absolutely right, oh hell, yeah. Now I like I'm wondering, now said do we?
Speaker 1really go way out there.
Speaker 2Oh yeah, definitely, I'm sure too. But now does it go off? Do we say that it's almost like in Spider-Man and the multiverse you know, in Rick and Morty and a couple of other shows that we've seen? I've seen that it's live action. So it's like you know, live, like us, like this. And then there's another multiverse that it's like a cartoon. There's another one where the whole world is underwater, so we're all like Aquaman or Merb people, Same characters, but just right.
Speaker 1Yeah, you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2I wonder if it's to that extreme or if everything is live.
Speaker 1Well, that was like that in Spider-Man.
Speaker 3Like you said, the Spider-Verse was crazy, or we're in a multiverse, like we're an advanced society and we're the gray aliens.
Speaker 2Right, yes, probably, yeah, probably, or even that the gray aliens are living with us. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3Oh, yeah, yeah like remember alienation, yes, alien nation or another multiverse when a planet where, like Multiple aliens live with different Right, yeah, like we're part Of Star Trek, star Wars or Star Trek, either or. Or it could be an alternate parallel universe when Star Wars is real, Like I'm a Jedi for real K-1 or you're in.
Speaker 1Star Trek. Or I'm a cyborg, like if you're in a different, in a few like at same time, right in the future, right like what they go about.
Speaker 3Parallel universe. Just happen is how did I get here?
Speaker 1right, that would blow your mind if that happened, yeah they say the idea of parallel universe is infinite possibilities.
Speaker 3It's kind of like they say the best way to describe it is when you put two mirrors next to each other and you're looking, it just goes forever right like that right, two mirrors across from each other and you look it just goes forever that's the idea of a probably just an infinite, like it just right, yeah, and stuck on that course yeah, right, pretty much, and just everything's different is how, like I said, it's the world slightly different.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, yeah, right, right, it's the world.
Speaker 2Yeah, but it's just how it it's projected when it puts it to you know and that's why they say like it's, it's so close, yet so far, you know with that, that's why we can. When we have dreams of certain things about ourselves, it's us in another universe.
Speaker 1Yeah, and it's to the point where it could even be like, instead of having pizza, you had pizza the night before, but you're going to have right and you have it could be like you ordered in a Japanese that night.
Speaker 3Yeah, right, yeah, or there's a multiverse where where Lou has a full head of long hair Right.
Speaker 2Yeah, a long hair, that would be awesome. And I'm bald. Yeah, right, exactly, that would be great. Exactly you know what I mean.
Speaker 3Just something different, like a film where like you know, I just have blonde hair. Like you know what I mean. It's the only different thing about me. Yeah, right, like it's just so many things, kenny would be, white.
Speaker 2Yeah, and that's what I'm gonna say, bro because it was like multiverse and that's the whole idea, just but you would know it was kenny, right?
Speaker 1yeah, because it's still him.
Exploring Alternate Realities
Speaker 2Yeah, it'll still be kenny, still be kenny, you know yeah, there's no more of a fucking machigana than me, hey. Hey, I'm just saying no, you know it's it. It would be cool if we could travel through them into the different ones. It would be cool.
Speaker 1I don't know if I want to see them.
Speaker 2Right? Yes, exactly. But it could be a problem because it could also be that we can't cross paths with our other self, because then you would fuck up the timeline.
Speaker 1I think you screwed up either way. I think you screwed up either way by just going back. No, no, no, you're not going back.
Speaker 2You're going parallel, you're just changing. Oh well, true, you know. I'm saying I don't know if this does it apply the same way. That's the whole thing. You're gonna do that kind of thing, right? Is that more of a sci-fi thing or is that something that? That's the whole thing. Nobody, because of course we.
Speaker 1It's the same thing like a black, but they're saying now that they believe there are right, definitely, yeah, it's crazy because of.
Speaker 2but really now I say that they say that, and I think they say that because of all that they've seen now with the new telescopes and stuff like that we were talking about before. What it is is what they see now. That is almost like a mirror, if you will you know what I'm saying or looking into something that's the same but different, like when they say that we're looking out into the telescopes and whatnot.
Speaker 1You're looking back in the past man, right?
Speaker 2So then it's something that has happened already. Yeah, okay that we're seeing now, right? So what's to say that? That it's somebody else looking at us? This way, it could be the parallel universe right, because nobody knows, that's again black hole. That would be when does a? Black hole lead right. Nobody knows, because of what they say, the gravitational pull is and it's just sucking you're in another parallel universe.
Speaker 1We were actually getting sucked into one, exactly. You know I'm saying so.
Speaker 2You never know what it is that would be weird, right, and it's just sucking and you're in another parallel universe. We were actually getting sucked into one, exactly. You know I'm saying so. You never know what it is. That would be weird, right, and that's like stretch you out you wouldn't even feel it, man. Well, that's the whole thing.
Speaker 1So now it's all an assumption yeah, and pull you apart into a million, but they don't know whatever you want to call them there's never been anything to go into or start going into a black hole that they can tell that it's literally you being stretched.
Speaker 2It could just be what it looks like because you're being sucked in so fast. Yeah, does that make sense?
Speaker 1yeah that's true, but I don't know that's what?
Speaker 2that's?
Speaker 1a lot of pull they say it gets so hot because of how fast it's spinning, because of how fast it's going or how big it is, because it's pulling, it's sucking everything in. It's not just it's start, it is because it's pulling, it's sucking everything in. It's not just it's space, it's everything around it is getting pulled into it.
Speaker 3I think any death that happens in space would be so instant you wouldn't even feel it. You would hope so, Because they say like even if you were to like, if you were to get like a hole in a spacesuit, you would die so fast.
Speaker 2It would be ridiculous, ridiculous well, because you freeze in the oxygen I don't know, yeah is it, I don't, I don't.
Speaker 1I think you actually freeze, don't? No, no, no, you I think it boils blood your blood.
Speaker 3You boil off. Yeah, you're, you're, you. All the liquid just turns to gas in your body. Yep, done so. You, you, yeah, like I think any death in space would just be so instant.
Speaker 1Wow, this is getting morbid. Well, I mean because it's just about thinking what we could do to go. I would not accept, Of course. Oh yeah, it's not morbid, I would say the same thing. No, I'm just kidding around.
Speaker 2Because think about it, bro. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to cut you off.
Speaker 1If you could go, would you want to go To another, to a multiverse? It would have to depend On the reason why. Because I just want to see. No, I need a better reason than that.
Speaker 3Like, what I can't just go.
Speaker 1Because I don't want to just go and mess with shit. If I don't need to, well don't touch anything.
Speaker 2You know what I mean. Just go See what it looks like and just to be like, and then you know you get what I'm saying. No, I don't know Really, I'd have to think it through. How about you? What Would you want to go into like if you?
Speaker 3were able to. If I could choose the one that I wanted to go to. I don't want to go to a random one, though. Okay.
Speaker 2I would want to go, because that's if you go to what I mean yeah, but we could free everybody oh, could you though?
Speaker 3yeah, like you know, what it takes is one freaking.
Speaker 2We take one of our computer programs and just fuck them all up. You know what I mean. Download it into this shit a virus. Okay, really, I'm just saying bro, wow, I can't believe you, even Really. I'm just saying, bro, wow, what I'm saying is I can't believe.
Speaker 1you even said that, but what?
Speaker 2I'm saying is Independence Day.
Speaker 3I would want to know at least get a menu of like. Ooh, we'll give you a menu of 20 different multiverses you can go to.
Speaker 1Yeah, I don't think I want to go to.
Speaker 3Ooh, that one sounds scary. I'm not going there. You know what I mean. Oh, that sounds like that could be fun, but would you?
Speaker 2want to see yourself ice cream, you know cloudy, with a chance of meatballs that was from?
Speaker 3you know what that was from? Right, do you remember when, um, it was a simpsons episode where they had a time machine and, like every time, you? Yeah, like stepped on like a bug and then yeah, and it was like all these things were messed up. And then finally he goes and like he like, like homer has, like this mansion, and like everybody's, like hello Dad, yeah, hello Dad. And like, oh, everything's perfect, oh my God. But I have to ask one question. He goes are there donuts here? And they're like what's a donut?
Speaker 3He's like oh, and he runs downstairs and all of a sudden they're like oh it's raining again and just donuts are falling from the sky.
Speaker 2What's a?
Speaker 1That's great. That's awesome. He left already. He didn't even see it. Yeah, he didn't see the raining.
Speaker 2That's freaking great man.
Speaker 3That was his perfect world. That is awesome.
Speaker 2But yeah, I mean, if you could pick, then Would you then go?
Speaker 3Hell yeah, watch. It would be like one of those things like what? What would I do, though?
Speaker 2anything, just to go see what it is to be in another place. I guess I think for me, I know for me, I'd want to go see um, like I would want to see myself be, you know, famous, to see how I'm living. You know what I mean. I want to know if I'm still the same person, right? You know what I mean. Like I sit here, and I talk about love, peace and hair grease. Yeah you what I'm saying, but I want to go and see myself as the celebrity or the millionaire, the athlete, just somebody famous, and to see if I'm still that person.
Speaker 2You know, I would like to see, even if not just to see who I am in that other world. It's not going to happen, though, bro well, yeah, but I mean, that's what, that's the idea of the what could happen. You know, when you're sleeping, like I would want to, there you go. You see what I'm saying, like I would want to see even to what another universe is living like what another?
Speaker 3what's if there's like a multiverse where, like kenny is like a pop star?
Speaker 2that's what I'm saying. I want to know what it is to be jackson's dad.
Speaker 1Yes, yes, don't say it kenny koppman the king, you're gonna make his head bigger than it is already bro Did you guys ever hear of a bubble universe? No, there actually is a bubble universe. What's that? Or universes, or inflationary multiverse. Okay, some cosmologists believe that different bubbles of the universe form through eternal cosmic inflation inflation, I'm sorry with each bubble representing its own universe with the unique physical laws.
Speaker 2Then that's how we become superheroes.
Speaker 3Wait, so explain that again.
Speaker 1Okay, I'll read it again. Hopefully I didn't. It's a bubble universe, right, right? Some cosmologists believe that different bubbles of a universe form through eternal cosmic inflation.
Speaker 3Oh, so this is like a theory of how it happens.
Speaker 1Mm-hmm.
Speaker 3That's true, that's so true.
Speaker 1Inflation which each bubble representing its own universe with unique physical laws.
Speaker 3Mm-hmm. Unique physical laws, right, oh, so like yeah, oh so like you were touching my superhero that's what I'm saying Now, that would be super crazy.
Speaker 1Maybe I would go back to see that one. I'm sure I was a good superhero and I wasn't hurting anybody and I was saving people, right.
Speaker 3So like boom, or like the laws are different, like the laws of thermodynamics is hot always goes to cold Right Cold always goes to hot Right Reversion. Right right Up is down, down is up. What was that?
Speaker 2I don't know, I don't remember that one. I don't remember that one.
Speaker 3A flock, a freak. Oh, that was Batman Forever with Jim Carrey. That's right, a flock of freaking freuds.
Speaker 2Yes, yes, that's right. Well, but there you go. So now, right now, because of the different gravity on the planets in our solar system, we would be either stronger or heavier. So that then, because of the gravity, so that then, now we're here, 200 pounds is 200 pounds.
Speaker 3200 pounds somewhere else would be 75 pounds right, and then we could pick it up like we'd be able to lift up the car while you change the tire.
Speaker 2Yeah, you know what I mean. That would be crazy like so that then the physical properties in a bubble universe would be that. Yeah, you know what I mean, or that we could breathe underwater.
Speaker 1Right that, now you know I would be able to just breathe underwater. It's a universe with unique physical laws. Unique physical laws, unique right? Not some, not a little. Unique, all of it, the whole thing.
Speaker 2Pretty cool, so then that would be crazy.
Speaker 3Yeah, like maybe it is superpowers, like I could just lift things, I could have telekinesis, right yeah, we all speak like that. That lift things. I have telekinesis, right. Yeah, we all speak like that. That would be sick. That was in, um, oh, that's speaking.
Speaker 2Yeah, telekinetics. Telekinetics is to be to make the move.
Speaker 3Yeah, right, that's right, even still that psychokinesis or psycho, I don't know all that stuff, anything with the minds yeah that we could do that, so we could speak.
Speaker 2You know what was it planet of scanners make people they went to the future yes, you see what I'm saying. That wasn't me what the hell was that?
Speaker 3No, I was doing the sound effect, oh it was you that was good bro, I thought, you had, like your shit was on the phone, yeah.
Speaker 1so I thought that shit was real. I was like what the hell was that?
Speaker 2It sounded like it came from over here We'd be able to talk to people, make things move mentally without physically touching anything.
Speaker 1Yeah, could be good, but then again you'd have to still do physical stuff. You couldn't do everything because you wouldn't want your body to be like you want to be the same shape, but wait wait a minute, hold that thought.
Speaker 2Got to take that into consideration. It won't, because in that other universe everybody's living like that. It would be us that knows about it. They wouldn't know because they don't live like we do. That we have, you know, when they don't have the same kind of gravity that we have here. They don't have us, so we wouldn't look the same. There's a show. Oh, I just lost it. God, jesus christ yeah there's a sci-fi show. That's a couple years old gravity.
Speaker 3Our bodies would look right, so they were showing that these totally the expanse.
Speaker 2The expanse, that's the name on sci-fi they were showing these people that are like that were raised in mars we're talking, like you know, generations from now, whatever okay, and they were taller because there was less gravity, so they were longer, slender, really. So that then for us here, we were shorter and more muscular because of everything we had, because of the gravity here. So then, like I said, going into another universe, they wouldn't know that you should look like this if you lived on Earth 113. You know what I mean.
Speaker 3And if we had more gravity, we'd be even shorter.
Speaker 2Right We'd be shorter, and stockier, right, because now we got to hold ourselves up and move things and pick things up. So this right here, this mixer. Instead of this mixer being a pound on another planet, it would be 10 pounds, right you?
Speaker 1know what I mean. There's a comic with Superman where he gives lowest powers, right, I don't know if you remember this, it was an animation on this and they go to his. You know, the solitude Right Right Fortress, the solitude Right Right, fortress of Solitude, and he has a key under the map. But it's in the ground, right, right, and she's like. He's like, go ahead, try to pick it up. She tries to pick it up, she can't pick it up. It's he carved it out of some kind of meteorite or something where it weighs a certain amount. But when it's here, it weighs this much like it's 20 000 times more heavy, right, he's the only one who can pick it up. She can't even budge it off the ground.
Speaker 2Yeah, yep, yeah, that's what I'm saying, so that's why it's so groovy. When you think about the multiverses or the things that we might be able to learn, would be able to, will we be able to bring it back here and use them would be the other thing. I mean, you know, just depending on what kind of technology, how would you even? How do you even?
Speaker 2cross over well, so again, if we go like this, I'm just saying, bro, so we do like we were talking about with sliders, right, and that show he had, like he had taken a remote control when he rigged it or whatever, and all these other things that he had done- but with sliders, wasn't it where, like everybody, most of the parallel universes were also sliding too? Right? No, no, no, no, no. Wasn't Simon James Slappy? No, no, no, no, it was him and his crew.
Speaker 3But it wasn't like each universe was sliding as he's sliding like they know?
Speaker 1no, it wasn't like no, no, no, he went, so they were running to themselves. When, yes, they did.
Speaker 2Oh, yep and themselves, and that's why I said what I said. So because them, their selves, in the parallel universe, um, were just the same, as they were like the same mental, whatever, right on that, you know, like a nice guy or you know, looking to help for a different kind of place yeah, but they just were different. They were on a different um part of the ladder in society.
Sci-Fi TV Shows and Alternate Realities
Speaker 3You know episode. I hated on that show really and it wasn't. It wasn't the. I don't know if it was their finale, but like when he was, like he's like, you know, because he goes oh, this looks just like my. Everything looks the same yes just check the gate and see if it creaks. Yeah, because I know if we're in my world it's gonna creep. Yes, it didn't creak yeah, and they, and they took the slide back. Yeah, and then all of a sudden, the father went on and goes. Oh yeah, I just oiled the.
Speaker 2Yeah, yep, that was. That was the last episode. Yeah, that was the last episode.
Speaker 3That's a disappointing ending.
Speaker 2yeah, that was another one because they kept saying so what it was is that they didn't Do you remember?
Speaker 1the show Sliders. Yeah, I remember the show, but I didn't really watch it.
Speaker 2So he had the remote control and he goes to slide. But it fell and broke, it'd get cracked or whatever it was, and he couldn't go back to his oh fuck Right, because he couldn't put in his world. One one every day, but the portable would show up at the same time in a couple of days or whatever. Same time, the same spot. So it would be right here at 4 o'clock in three days because there was a timer on it. All right, cool, and he couldn't make it come back Right.
Speaker 3So, as he's going through his travels or whatever, he ends up he's hoping to eventually get back to his he's hoping that he's gonna go through enough of them that he's gonna end up coming back around.
Speaker 2But now, with this, as he's going, he's running into different people and they become friends and they end up jumping with him. Oh so they missed the whole thing. So now, every so, now the four people that were going with him. It was rembrandt the professor. I can't remember the girl's name um. It was jerry o'connell, wasn't it? Yeah?
Speaker 3yeah, so.
Speaker 2So Jerry O'Connell and he was the one that he made the remote and let's see. So he had a few people that went with him and they would just see all these different things. That's why I said what Tom and I are saying.
Speaker 1Yeah, that's the sci-fi part of it, but he tried to get back.
Speaker 3And then the last episode. He was convinced it was Israel World. But he was convinced it was Israel. But he's like, oh, the gate, the gate to his like defense, it always creaks and it didn't creak. And he's like, oh, this is definitely isn't my world and he went back. He didn't even go to find out and he went back and then, like you see, like the father come out and he go, you know, talk to the wife. He's like oh, I just fixed that annoying creak in the gate.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, it was so cool it was so.
Speaker 3You know that reminded me of a Twilight Zone episode. Not to veer off too much.
Speaker 1I forget what it was.
Speaker 3Yeah, that's true.
Speaker 1Think about it. It was a parallel universe.
Speaker 3Anything occurred most of the time, right, yeah, yeah, something, yeah, but I remember it was something with aliens and people were trying to figure out and the aliens ended up leaving and guess, I guess they don't want the cure. Humans don't want the cure for cancer. You remember that? I don't remember that one. No, I remember. It was something with aliens or whatever.
Speaker 2There was a few with aliens. My favorite one is there's a few of them. Yeah, the best one for me was To Serve man. They couldn't tell the book that one was good.
Speaker 1And that was. There was also another themselves, yeah, and they were uh-huh, you know which one. I love making the cars go off and everything but it's like plastic surgery everybody gets this perfect yeah, and this girl looks like she's actually the prettiest, but she's the ugly one and they made her look like everybody else.
Speaker 2Parallel universe yeah right, exactly, that's exactly what that is.
Speaker 1That was a good show yeah, he was ahead of his time, bro.
Speaker 3You know what I like too, but it freaks me out so much I can only watch. It's so scary, it's not scary is no, it's just it's such a logical horror. No, no, no, no black mirror. I can't, I can't binge watch that show yeah, I haven't seen that one.
Speaker 1That's the one, well, which is like twilight zone, but it's freakier, right. But the kid's got the phone on the wall.
Speaker 3It's not connected to anything you're thinking a black phone or something oh, black phone that was. I don't know if that was what it was called or the phone or something, but anyway, no, black Mirror is an anthology series like the Twilight Zone, where every episode is different, but it's like psychological horror. Right, right and oh man, I can only watch so much of that. I'm going to look for that one. They even did a special Netflix one where it was interactive and you can decide what the character does.
Speaker 2Oh, no shit, yeah, oh, I want to see Black Mirror. Yeah, again, that's the show worth watching. It would be cool, though, so think about it. Black Mirror Well, I didn't see it, yeah they're all set in universe.
Speaker 3It's all set in universe, actually, any fiction.
Speaker 1When you think about it, yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 3But there was one episode where like Even the horror ones.
Speaker 1Yes, where like. Yes.
Speaker 3Your whole life is recorded and you can play it back Like it's an implant?
Speaker 1No shit.
Speaker 3And you can project it and play it back or whatever. What? But like something happened where, like the spouse was cheating and they got the recordings or whatever.
Speaker 2What and they?
Speaker 3tap in and get the person recording and found them. It was yeah, it was what. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2Yeah, see that's a little. Yeah, that's messed up.
Speaker 3It's like Twilight Zone Right.
Speaker 2But see, but now, there you go. So we've been talking about well, I've been talking about the fun, the cool part of being able to do it cool.
Speaker 1that's not a cool one.
Speaker 2So you know, they said we were talking like in sliders. They had an episode where um uh show me your papers.
Exploring Alternate Realities and Possibilities
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah that nazi had one that germany had one show me your papers, had one and they and they had to go through all that stuff. But you know what I will say, though there was only maybe one or two episodes that there was racism yeah even the nazi one. There was people of color that were part of the Third Reich. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They were Nazis, they were soldiers. So there was black people that were in there.
Speaker 1There was a few of them actually. There was different ones that were religious-based in a sense you know what? I mean On Twilight Zone.
Speaker 3Well, maybe that was the difference in that parallel universe. Like they weren't racist, they were fascists, but they weren't killing people. They weren't into the whole perfect race.
Speaker 2It wasn't about that, yeah, they were just fascists. Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly that's what it was.
Speaker 3That's what made them survive.
Speaker 2Right, yeah, and that's what made it crazy cool, because Rembrandt in Sliders he was a black guy and all the things that he had to deal with because they did well, I'm lying, they did like one or two episodes, maybe, Maybe one episode that I don't really remember that. It was like 1960s and it was, you know, that kind of thing that you couldn't eat in this bar, go to that restaurant or whatever and whatnot. Go ahead, Lou. No, I'm almost ready. You guys finish. Well, I was going to say which one was it that you remember of a Twilight Zone that was religious. I don't remember any that were religious like that.
Speaker 1There was a couple, there were in a sense, where it wasn't as religious, I should say, but more of the it was like an interpretation of something that already happened, because it had nazis in it and okay. That I can't remember.
Speaker 3I'll have to look it up for you later, think about it was really that was something that you wouldn't expect from if you, if you think about it now for this time back then absolutely yeah no doubt yeah, so you have a sign. You can't see it on camera, but the sign says twilight zone yeah, yeah, this way, yeah, that's right yeah an arrow, yeah, but uh, going to the what was the guy's name always had the same rod shirley rod sterling.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, he was ahead of his time, that guy yeah he uh had a good, you know really though imagination, if you like if you like, twilight zone, netflix black mirror yeah, I'm gonna check that out.
Speaker 2There's like so many seasons already, really. Yeah, but I'm to check that out. There's like so many seasons already.
Speaker 3Really. Yeah, I'm going to check that out. It's such psychological horror. I tried binge watching it one day. I'm like fuck this.
Speaker 1Yeah, it's too much. I don't know if I really like that kind of stuff, though I mean I don't mind watching it If it's a series and mind I don't want to. You know, I like a little bit more positive stuff sometimes you want to feel freaked out. I don't know that's why I like the horror movies there hasn't been any really good ones lately.
Speaker 3It's hard to binge it though.
Speaker 2Yeah, no, for sure but then that's why I mean you don't feel that you going to being into a multiverse, going to another universe, that you would want to see how you were living, or you think that that would be like too much of a shock for you one way or the other.
Speaker 1Well, you're right, it could be a positive thing or a negative thing. Whatever, I just think disturbing it and not just going there. I would have to have a reason. I wouldn't want to just go. Maybe if I was younger and we were talking about this, the younger me would say probably, yeah, I'm going in a heartbeat, I'm going to see what I'm doing Now. I'm like you know what, I already did it. I don't need to go back and see what I did, maybe in a different universe. Obviously it's going to be different.
Speaker 2Yeah, that's what I'm saying why do?
Speaker 1I really want to see the interpretation of the opposite of what happened.
Speaker 2Well, that's the thing. It's not so much an opposite, it's just a different, because there are so many different things. Like you know, I see myself as a race car driver. Like I said, I see myself as a musician. But you can only go back at the time that you're at right now no, no, but that's the thing I think you're mixing up going back, we're not going back. It's literally 2020 from over and over.
Speaker 1I'm not saying back, I'm saying here's the time period I am, and now I'm sliding into another universe, right but different everything, everything is different.
Speaker 2Yep, the whole setting is different.
Speaker 1Yes, right, yep like this could look like uh, samurai japan, yeah yeah, yeah right, I got you, but it's the same time and you're the person and whatever. Okay, right, that's what I'm saying yeah yeah, we're sitting here, but you can't go ahead or back or anything like that.
Speaker 3Nope of course I know that yeah, so I was trying to say yeah, maybe, maybe. Uh, we live in a parallel universe where Japan won World War II Exactly Can you imagine that?
Speaker 2Wow, that would be fucked up.
Speaker 3Yeah.
Speaker 2And we would all be wearing. You know, we would be just like doing school yeah. But then again look at where Japan is now here. Kenny-san, yes.
Speaker 1How would you say my name?
Speaker 2Yes, Louis-san, louis-san.
Speaker 2Louis- how would you say my name? Yes, louis son, louis son, yes, said then, look at where japan is now. Yeah, right, there you go, my man, you turn around and you look at where japan is now here for us. Yeah, yeah, how a lot of their stuff they're advanced in a bunch of stuff. Yeah, you know what I mean? What if the whole world was living like japan and we had all something, you know, the cool stuff that they have over there right now? We had it here now. Yeah, we could order it on Amazon.
Speaker 1But what if we got it here? I think I would probably go back to the time when the American Indian was the one in charge of this country, right?
Speaker 2So then would we still be stuck in tribes?
Speaker 3Or like we're doing the whole. You know the time period is. We have the colonies here, but they still are in the old west and they fight back and take us over, but they're modernized now they're modernized Native Americans because they took over the colonies but we gotta follow the Indian tribe rules and we're kind of like living this kind of sort of modernized, this modernized Native American society.
Speaker 1Can you imagine that? I always had this one vision in my head, where you know they would come here, you know our ancestors would come here, right, and they would get with the Indians and they would work with the Indians and come up with the idea of the country where they were involved. Yes, right, so it's their land as long as you, you know. Yes, right, so you stay at land as long as you, you know, and you guys work with one another. Right, much stronger, versus just trying to take over and take away people's shit that were already there.
Speaker 2Right that we all be united. Imagine what that would be like. There you go. You know what?
Speaker 3I mean yeah like that would.
Speaker 1I would love to see something like that and the and the, the national bird would be the wild turkey, because that's what Ben Franklin originally wanted. I remember that, well, I don't remember. So imagine that universe. Yeah, that's what it is the wild turkey was instead of the bald eagle.
Speaker 2Yeah, anybody want to Never know.
Speaker 3Imagine, I wonder what would. I wonder what would just if one thing didn't change? What's if they never did prohibition? What would happen?
Speaker 2What do you mean If they didn't? Yeah, there was no prohibition, it was just like liquor never went anywhere there was alcohol, then they took it away and they gave it back. What's if there was no gap? Who told you this?
Speaker 1You say there was something. Oh, you mean just saying hypothetical, there was no prohibition.
Speaker 2What would?
Speaker 3that look like. How much would that change anything? I? Don't know, we've probably seen different alcohol brands that we're not used to.
Speaker 1What about?
Speaker 3smoking.
Speaker 2Different kind of smoking. Oh smoking, yeah, no smoking, Wait smoking.
Speaker 1We don't smoke in tobacco no cigarettes.
Speaker 2Just cigarettes, cigarettes. You can't do it Right. What if Everybody was super healthy, that there was nothing In On the world?
Speaker 1That there was. Yeah, everybody's, just like Working out Everybody's fit.
Speaker 3Hell yeah, we're all health nuts. We're all like super healthy.
Speaker 2Yo, that's funny dude.
Speaker 3We're like there's no white bread. Everything's multigrain, everything's multigrain, yes, yeah.
Speaker 2Oat milk Sourdough, sourdough, sourdough, yeah.
Speaker 3What about a world where everybody's vegan and people?
Speaker 2like oh, dude.
Speaker 3And only like 5% of the population are not vegan and they're like trying to convince everybody oh yeah, you can eat meat, you can eat dairy, that would be great.
Speaker 2Right, right, right. What if everybody was like Avatar?
Speaker 3Oh, when we could plug into the other animals. We could plug into the animals and whatever else that would be cool, do something like that.
Speaker 2What would that be? What if everybody was like a witch? We all had magical powers? All right, you know what I'm saying? I'm just saying, bro, you never know, maybe a super badass samurai. There you go. That's what I'm saying. So then, if we were in 2024, samurai Japan, samurai Japan.
Speaker 3It was all over where like giants exist, like actual giants, like 20 feet tall that would be crazy. They like live in their own land, like everybody from Switzerland is like, instead of being like 6 foot 5 they're like 10 foot tall, like 20 feet tall, exactly.
Speaker 2yeah, there are different species. Yeah, all together.
Speaker 3Yeah, you got another species of elves and dwarves.
Speaker 2Yeah, like Lord of the Rings. Lord of the Rings, that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 3But like in reality based.
Speaker 1Right, exactly, you know what I mean.
Speaker 3Imagine going to a Lord of the Rings one.
Speaker 1That's what I'm Going back to be a hobbit or something.
Speaker 2That was like Harry Potter.
Speaker 3Oh yeah.
Speaker 1Harry Potter and the Harry Patty world. The Harry Patty world. Harry Potter world. I'm saying Star Trek.
Speaker 2Man, I want that Well and he said then what if you walked out? I mean, you went to a parallel universe and you were going on to I probably have a red shirt too.
Speaker 1Yeah, this guy, you probably would Word up.
Speaker 2No shit, but that you would go and you would be on the Enterprise you know what I'm saying or Voyager, you know?
Speaker 1whatever I take it, that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 2So imagine that you were.
Speaker 1You know a Starfleet captain. You know what I'm saying. I don't know about that. I'm lucky if I'd be, like you know, worked in a mess hall.
Speaker 3You know what I'm saying, but then again there's a parallel universe and then there's another parallel universe.
Speaker 1Oh, Vulcan, there you go. Live long as possible. What is Worf? Peace and long life.
Speaker 2What's Worf Worf is he's not Vulcan, he's. Klingon, klingon.
Speaker 3Yes, there's another one where you're a Kling I would have tripled, triple.
Speaker 1Triple yeah you do know that you guys are also you'd be too yeah.
Speaker 2Well we don't have.
Speaker 3I'm just saying, you know you never know, but yeah, like.
Speaker 2I said listen, I would love to be able to know if there was one. So you would have almost pretty much if there's that many universes if it was that many.
Speaker 1There would be every version of you, to the point where imagine a super religious you walking around with the.
Speaker 3Bible, can you imagine?
Speaker 1that.
Speaker 2Can you imagine?
Speaker 3me religious, one of those guys on the highway or in Times Square.
Speaker 1Right.
Speaker 3Repent. Now Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior you can have a Southern accent. I was born in Alabama.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, yeah, whatever, lord and Savior.
Speaker 3Can you imagine that man?
Speaker 2Please, jesus, yeah, yeah, yeah, whatever, yeah, can you imagine that man, jesus? That'd be insane, but it would be cool to be able to see all that stuff. I don't know, you know, I would like, I would like to see it.
Speaker 1I would see well how about, like he was saying earlier, but you would have a way that you can look at a monitor or something and you would see each timeline, whatever it was right well, you multi universe whatever universe okay, then you would um and that you would be able to view it individually and then go. Okay, I think I know you know, if I want to go, I'm gonna do it for this reason, but what would be the point?
Speaker 2it would be the same time you're at now going there right doing, but there'd be something else, but you would bump into yourself. Maybe you don't have to bump into yourself. There's's no guarantee that you're going to bump into yourself.
Speaker 1Most likely If it's parallel. I mean, I guess that could be different too. But what? Instead of you're not in the living room, he's in the kitchen. You're in the kitchen this time. No, no, no, no, no, no. And you land in the living room and then you bump into each other.
Speaker 2Nope, nope, nope, not like that, lewis Crawford living in, like I said, 2024 Japan, samurai, japan. So that then, you're not living here in PA, a modern Samurai, right, a modern Samurai. So you're not living here in this part of PA, you're really living in Philly. You know what I'm saying? Like you're somewhere else, it doesn't mean that you have to be here because your life is different. It's not that you're here doing the exact same thing, going to work at the same place.
Speaker 1That means your wife would be different.
Speaker 3But, there could be a parallel universe where things are slightly different.
Speaker 2Right, Same house, same whatever, but you're black. You know what I'm saying, or that you're like I said that this is a mansion and not you know, you could come back in a multiverse.
Speaker 1If it's a multiverse, you come back homosexual, but I think though, yes bro, listen, you said anything, so that goes. Sexual orientation yes, everything, Everything.
Speaker 3I think a theory would be, though, is that, like, in order to get to that parallel universe, you have to like cross over, cross over, like a trillion different ones, because, right, over one that's slightly different. Yes, it keeps varying differently, right yeah, so you have to pass it and pass it.
Speaker 1You know what I mean right, yeah, yeah, you think so yeah like each one is slightly different.
Exploring Multiverse and Time Travel
Speaker 2Yeah, because you're closer to this, you know what I mean. The further off you drift, it's like anything else. The further out you drift, the more different. It is right, you know what I mean. So like from for us, if we go out Like a ripple. Exactly, it's just like it just grows.
Speaker 1That's the whole point. Why go? Why do it? Unless I can view it on a monitor and watch it, then I'll be like yeah, that would be cool.
Speaker 2It would be cool, but I'd like to go. But I think, like I said again, that's why for me, on so many different things and you know other shows that we had you know, I want to be that cyborg, to be able to go and do these things and check them out.
Speaker 1With the episode on star trek, the one where they run through, you know how they go back in time. Yes, you see, that would be multiverse too. You think, even though, because you take them anywhere in any timeline, in some sense that that thing will take you?
Speaker 2No, that's different. If we're doing timeline, that is different.
Speaker 3They could do multiverse too, Multiverse Because you alter the time. Each you alter the timeline.
Speaker 1Right by going there.
Speaker 3That would create a multiverse.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 3A timeline change. Yeah, If you like, in Back to the Future when they alter, because the Sports Alumin Act alter the time Skewed.
Speaker 1That's a different multiverse.
Speaker 3That's a different. Yeah, Okay.
Speaker 1All right, you heard what the doc said. Man, leave shit alone, don't mess with it All.
Speaker 2Right, anyway, and with that then we'll end. That doc said leave it alone. That's right, leave it alone. Thank you, guys for being.
Speaker 1Live long, and prosper and go vegan, holla.
