Positive Childhood Experiences Can Squash ACEs
How can we as educators help students not only overcome adversity but truly flourish? In this episode, Dr. Gina Pepin explores the powerful impact of Positive Childhood Experiences (PCEs) and how shifting our focus from challenges to strengths can transform classroom culture and student development.
You’ll learn the key difference between Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and PCEs—and why fostering positive, nurturing moments matters just as much, if not more, than preventing negative ones. Dr. Pepin shares insights on how simple acts—like encouragement, connection, and making students feel seen—can lay the foundation for lifelong resilience and healthy emotional growth.
Tune in to discover practical ways teachers can create an environment where every child feels safe, valued, and supported. Whether it’s a kind word, a moment of acknowledgment, or a safe space for self-expression, you’ll find that it’s the little things that make a big difference.
Let’s celebrate the positive moments we create each day—and help every child build the confidence and strength they need to thrive.
