The Draw Down- Why Do the TVA Lake Levels Go Up and Down

Darrell Guinn from the River Forecast Center talks with Julie to answer the question that so many people who live and play on TVA lakes have about the up and down of lake levels, especially the "dreaded drawn down."

Located in Knoxville, the River Forecast Center is staffed 365 days a year, 24 hours per day to monitor weather conditions and forecasts to fulfill multiple purposes that the river serves.

The Tennessee River Valley Stewardship Council, a 501 c3 nonprofit, serves as the steering committee and editorial board for the Geotourism MapGuide website. It is comprised of volunteers from a seven state region. The Council's efforts are made possible through the generous support of the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA).
