In this episode, we speak with May Yu — a classical and jazz violinist, music business professional, and educator based in New York City.
May’s work sits at the intersection of performance, industry, and education. She performs across genres and prestigious stages, including Dizzy’s Club and the Apollo Theater, while also engaging in collaborative, improvisational projects that centre storytelling and artistic expression.
Alongside her performance career, May is completing her second Master’s degree in Music Business at New York University, where she serves as Student Co-President of the graduate programme. Her experience spans artist relations, event planning, sync licensing, publishing, publicity, and digital marketing, offering a wide-ranging perspective on how the modern music industry operates.
