Ciera:

You are listening to Confidently Beautiful with Ciera, a podcast to help you stay confidently beautiful, because we all have confidence inside us. We just need to bring it out and I'm here to show you how Body image, dreams, parenting style, personality and more. Here we cover it all. Get ready to stay confidently beautiful. Hi, my beautiful listeners, I am recording this about a week before I head off to my convention, my unique convention, something that I look forward to every single year, and I am so excited. By the time you listen to this, it will be the day after convention, and so I am recording this early so that I can get this up and have this ready for you. But I am so excited to be sharing a little bit of my experience at convention, so be sure to be watching me on social media at Confidently Beautiful podcast and you can see a little bit of what I got to do at convention, the things I learned. It's always such an incredible experience, not only for my business, but also just for me personally. It just feeds my soul. It is a lot of just self-improvement and a break from life and from the stresses of the world and just remembering that there is so much good that can be done in the world. That is one reason I have chosen unique is my pathway for my business. It is just one of the many, many things that I am passionate about, but I love unique because they truly have a mission to serve, and we serve so many different charities, the main one being Sopria. That is why unique was created. Unique was created to help Saprea, but not only do we help Saprea, but we also help many, many other organizations throughout the world, and specifically those that affect women. So I love the mission of unique and all that we are doing.

Ciera:

Today I wanted to do an episode that is kind of going to piggyback off of my interview. Episode 44 was with Kim and we talked about her experience at the Saprea retreat and how she has gone along with her healing journey. Today I wanted to do a quick episode just highlighting Sopria and the amazing resources that Saprea can have for anyone, but especially parents. I am going to gear this towards parents because it is a scary thing to think that you have to raise your kids to be aware of things that could happen in the world child sexual abuse, even after they are over 18, you know the abuse that could happen. We do not want that to happen, but I am going to focus specifically on how to prevent child sexual abuse.

Ciera:

So the website you are going to want to go to is saprea. org. It is S-A-P-R-E-A. org. This website is full of stuff to help you. There is a section on healing. So if you want to learn more about the Saprea retreats, there is a healing webinar that is free that you can look at. There is other online healing resources. There is support groups. There is a lot that you can look at as far as healing. But as far as preventing, there is a whole tab just for preventing.

Ciera:

So let's talk about the ways that you can prevent child sexual abuse. You can teach in your community If you are really passionate about this. There is a whole bunch of information on the website about how you can become a volunteer community educator and you can teach different ways that you can reduce the risk of child sexual abuse. You can teach your children consent. You can teach child healthy sexuality. You can teach consent for teens specifically, because it is different for children versus teens. They are experiencing different things, they have different friends, they have different life experiences. So those are really, really beneficial if you are passionate about this and interested in becoming a volunteer community educator, even if you are not. If you just look at the courses that are all on the website, if you just look at the education classes that are there, you will learn stuff that you can put into your life with your children and that you can teach your kids. Another really great resource is just Supriya's Instagram. Supriya always is posting stuff that is helpful hints for parents on how to talk to your kid about sex or how to teach your teenager how to be safe when they are dating and they just always include information that is really, really helpful and can help you as you are teaching your children and trying to protect your children.

Ciera:

There is also a tab for an online prevention resource. It is defendinnocenceorg. This is it goes hand in hand with sapriaorg, but this is a website that really helps parents to help empower them to know how to talk to their kids, how to talk to them if something happens I hope something never happens, but how to talk to them if something happens, how to keep open communication with your kids, because, statistically, one in five children will be sexually abused by the time they turn 18, and often it is by somebody that they know and they trust. There's sections on proactive parenting, on raising capable kids, sexual development of all ages. There is so much that you can look at on this website to help give you resources as you are going through different conversations there's confidence conversations, there's consent conversations, there's emotion conversations, there's boundaries conversations. There's so much that you can look at. There's a lot about online safety, as that is a big issue with this. Never I mean, it looks like it's never gonna change. We're gonna have online stuff for forever, and so there is a whole section on online safety, teaching your kids how to be safe, and I just really love all of the resources that they have. If you wanted to learn more about the facts and understanding, like why this is such an issue, their statistics, and there's facts that you can read about more about that, and you can even if you're really interested in this organization, you can learn more about the leadership and their partners, and there's a newsroom that is constantly updating with information and articles. It could be helpful to you and also help you to know of other organizations that are fighting this fight.

Ciera:

I went ahead and I looked at Saprea's Instagram and I pulled one post that I thought could be really helpful and really quick to digest. But it is three things that you can do now to protect your child from sexual abuse. Number one you can strengthen your relationship with your child. The stronger relationship you have with your child, the more they're gonna wanna talk to you. Number two you can give your child a voice. This will teach them that they can talk to you and that they can tell you if something made them feel uncomfortable. And number three you can talk about healthy sexual development, using the proper words for things. There's so many doctors that talk about how you should call body parts by their actual name and, I think, also just explaining the process and having open conversation as the questions come up, to answer them directly and to talk about it in a healthy way. So those are three things that you can do, but go visit Supriya's website, follow them on Instagram at Saprea underscore org and you will have so much knowledge that you can look at and you can hopefully learn from. Thank you for listening to this shorter, quicker episode.

Ciera:

I'm really excited to get back with you next week, as I am going to be sharing more on my social media about my convention experience, but then August is upon us and we are going to be talking about back to school and motivation. I just why is it already August? Like I just can't even believe that I am saying that already. I know I'm recording this early, but even still, just to think that when this airs in just a couple of short weeks, then it's going to be August, it's just mind blowing to me. So, yeah, we are going to be talking about back to school, because it's coming, ready or not.

Ciera:

Here it comes, and we will also talk a little bit about motivation and some of the things that we could touch on, because it's like halfway through the year, more than halfway through the year. So we need to talk about motivation because it's been a while since we've talked about it and there's always so much that we can learn. So thank you for listening. I will talk to you next week. Thanks for listening. Connect with me on Instagram @confidentlybeutifulpodcast and share this episode with someone in your life who could use a little reminder of just how amazing they already are. Stay confidently beautiful.
