43 - Kids’ Mental Health in Today’s Culture (w/ Toby Slough) [Mental Health Awareness May]
May 22, 2023
Seacoast Church

For the month of May, we'll be discussing all things mental health related.  Although the stigma of mental illness is dwindling some, there is still work to be done.  For those who suffer, you are not alone.  Our prayer is that you find comfort by hearing these stories and discussions, even if it's just a little bit.  For those who do not struggle, our  prayer is that through these episodes, you will have more understanding; and this would lead you to more compassion and grace for all who do.

The cultural trends are alarming, sobering statistics on a young generation growing up in a challenging world that is rapidly changing, especially in the advancement of technology and the prevalence of social media.  Author and speaker, Toby Slough, travels and speaks to parents, many who are trying their best but haven’t the clarity of what’s healthy, harmful, or beneficial for their kids amidst all these rapid changes.
Given the current climate, kids’ brains are literally developing differently than any generation due to the quick accessibility to information and an ability to connect with peers any second of any day, on their phones.

You'll hear some practical advice on raising kids in this "smart phone and social media" generation.  How is this generation of parents doing in comparison to generations past?  How can one process past, parenting mistakes?

Helping kids and parents, Toby Slough can empathize with the mental health struggles that are impacting everyone, including so many youngsters.  He faced a mental health crisis himself, learned perseverance and wants to help others learn the same.
