The Undead Symphony
Episode 275: Contracted: Phase 2
Contracted has always been on the Z list, but I have been avoiding it as body horror isn’t really my thing. But given we are ploughing through 2025 at a rate of knots I thought I would watch both contracted and the sequel. Looking on amazon I could only find the sequel and part one was no longer on TUBI so, SOL I decided to watch the sequel first, with the idea of getting to the original at some point.
In part two the story follows the story of Samantha who suffers from a mysterious and degenerative disease. The film centres on Riley, played by matt mercer, one of the last people to come into contact with Samantha,as he scrambles to track down those responsible for the outbreak before the highly contagious disease consumes his body and the world as we know it. And it stars much of the cast of the original including Najarra Townsend as Samantha.
It was ok. Sort of a serial killer investigation to start with, with the bald guy spreading his demon seed throughout the city after raping Samantha in the first movie. We see weak body horror stuff from him, pustules, maggots under the skin, red eyes, a finger nail left in the scratches on his back? Like you wouldn't notice.
I needed the cop to survive and the bad guy to get his comeuppance, but clearly I don't get what I want when I see poor sequels.
Alice come drink from the chalice is played not once but twice.
Mid credits scene more bald guy. Awful ending… and I didn't need to watch the first one. Although I can guess it was slightly better.
4.5/10 average at best. Meh!
