The Undead Symphony
Episode 277: The Video Dead (1987)
Simple premise. A cursed TV that shows only one movie, the very 1970s style Romero-eque Zombie Blood Nightmare is in fact a portal. A very 1980s plot device. the zombies from the movie come out of it and rampage a rural community, including TEMU Eric Stoltz Rocky Duvall as Jeff, his sister Zoe and their neighbour April.
The acting is awful, there are some cliche elements such as disposing of a hand in the garbage disposal, 1980s lightning indoors effects and a lot of dry ice. However, with the plot being simple, and a change of cast this could have been a classic. It just wasn't.
If we had Roddy McDowell as Daniels, Eric Stoltz as Jeff and Jennifer Connelly as Zoe, and the real David Bowie and Zombowie this would have been cult. We just didn't.
I am still going against my earlier prediction and scoring it 5/10 based on what could have been.
