The Undead Symphony
Episode 282: Dead Season (2012)
And so… onto this, a zombie movie, another new offering from Amazon, Dead Season… well when I say new it is 2012, but I haven’t see it on offer before. And it has a sequel Decade of the Dead which has a very similar plot and Tweeter. appears in both
4.6/10 on IMDB which isn’t awful.
On Amazon the description is… during a zombie outbreak, two strangers find themselves stranded on a remote island with an aggressive cult.
or
Elvis and Tweeter escape a zombie catastrophe and land on an island. They meet a group of fellow survivors, but soon find themselves fighting a daily battle for survival against their own kind.
After a zombie outbreak, a group of survivors retreat to an island, only to discover a blood-thirsty cult planning to rule what’s left of civilization.
Ok...first up, there is no cult... there isn't a cult. It is just a military dad type, a few obvious henchmen (fat one, bearded balding one, long haired one, one who bases his look on Fidel Castro), 2 prostitutes and the leader's daughter, a 17 year old shut in who thinks bringing her sketch pad is more important that provisions.
It wasn't all that bad. The only really bad element was the piss poor fight choreography and chase scenes. The zombies were fine, the practical gore was ok, the cult-free plot was ok. Island survival. A few practical things.. Made no sense that they hadn't cleared the island in 10 months of being there. And the boat guy and cannibal story line wasn't explored. There was a sense of dread, especially when the shambling slow zombies turned into fast moving runners...
I am actually looking forward to the sequel, Decade of the Dead next up, as the trailer suggests that they fixed the fight choreography.
