There are three radio station based zombie movies and this is by far the worst. Writer/director Chris Maes creates an absolute shambles of a movie that only stretches to 76 minutes thanks to repeated use of the same shots of zombies slowly heading to the radio station, the same record on the turntable and the moon. Filled with continuity errors, scenes where everything happens OC or OS, and then more of the same shots again this time with VO from the main characters, TEMU Kirsten Stewart local radio DJ Lisa and should have been a comedy character but wasn't serial killer who has killed 4 or 5 women John.
I watched this only to save me from Bloodthirsty and Urban Flesh Eaters on TUBI and I am regretting that choice. I nearly fell asleep, I went shopping half way through, I fast forwarded a third of the movie, and I even had to hide my eyes from the cringeworthy slow motion Guardians of the Galaxy walk down the corridor that couldn't have felt more out of place.
A movie this bad needs to be turned into a parody or a comedy. It could have worked as a Night of the Living Deb style comedy, just with a serial killer, and a pointless TV news plot line. But no.
The hazmat suited guys? Oh, yeah, and the whole this is caused by the radio station being built on a secret nuclear storage facility with uranium that glows green and turns people into zombies, except it's not a comedy, read that as it's a serious plot.
3/10 and I feel it should be less.
And welcome back to listeners. I am back again swimming through the turdfield swamp that is to be. I do have to say I have seen perhaps three decent movies on Tubi. I have probably seen 30 movies from Tubi. It is a very low success ratio. But I do need to watch movies. I'm waiting for Michael to record Colony. I'm waiting on permission from Aaron Trust to put forward or put publish our episode on Employee of the Dead. We're kind of scheduling it to work with um his uh you know the go live of his crowdfunding on Indiegogo and the like. So AirShift from 2026 on Tubi. This is the turd floating on the top of the murky water, because the only things I have to watch on Tubi other than this are the real shit kickers like Bloodthirsty and Urban Flesh Eaters, and I can't even get through the previews of those two movies. Um so uh Air Shift During her overnight shift, a small town DJ must escape a serial killer and battle zombie-like attackers who see the radio's tar uh station as a target. So our third zombie movie uh set in a radio station along with the incredible Ponty Paul with Patricia Torm and then the with the incredible Ponty Paul with Stephen McHatty, uh and also Patricia Torman from 199 uh Night of the Living Dead and Bill Mosley from plenty of zombie movies, not least Exit Humanity um uh in Dead Air, a movie that really did not use Patricia Torman and her skills, it was just a piece of shit. This piece of shit gets a surprising 5.1 on IMDB out of ten. It also, according to Google, gets 5.1 out of 10 on Amazon, which is not possible because, ladies and gentlemen, Amazon does its scores out of five. It is written and directed by Chris Mays, M-A-E-S Mays, um, who has made other movies before, uh Ing they will get a mention. Um it stars this is the sting, it stars Ashley Lawhorn um as DJ Lisa, um it stars Patrick Andrew Jones as the serial killer John Bowen, uh, Alex Deal uh from Neuenberg and Picard as the producer Dwight. And Morgan Flanagan, who you can now see at the cinema in the Odyssey and on demand in Masters of the Universe, and she plays the TV host, Amanda. A couple of the reviews. Slim 44 on IMDB doesn't give it a score, but right s garbage. Just go and find the classic Ponty Paul movie that involves a D radio DJ and zombies. This movie has terrible acting, is boring for most of its length, and characters you could care less about. All of these high reviews are obviously done by people by family and cast members of this stupid movie. Save your time and just completely avoid this drek. Good usage of the word Drek, and a good start there. Tony Collins gives it three out of ten and said, I read somewhere, the movie cost uh 75,000 pounds. It must have been used to pay the salaries of the entire crew. The two main characters, the DJ and the serial killer, is are the only somewhat interesting and funny part of this movie. The zombies are stupid, the repetitive scene shown over and over of the zombies heading to the radio station was dumb. It's just not a good movie. Don't waste your time. Okay, so not so good at all, really, is it? Um there's a quote on IMDb, and I always like them to put quotes because it means it's someone's actually gone to the to the effort of putting something that was from the movie down as a quote of it. Uh John Bowen, you're being way too hard on yourself. Lisa Richmond said the serial killer. John Bowen, okay, are you gonna hold that over my head forever? Hmm. However, as you know, my dear listeners, I watch these so you don't have to. Although someone please, please, for God's sake, watch Bloodthirsty and Urban Flesh Eaters for me. I'm not sure I can manage that particular level of shitola. So this is Derwin Smith for the Undead Symphony, and this is episode 374, in which I am watching the 2026 Radio DJ Zombie Movie Airshift. Hey y'all, this is Stephanie from the Listeners of the Dead Podcast, and you're listening to the Undead Symphony. Okay, I finished watching this movie a minute ago. Well, that's not true. Not a minute ago. I finished watching this movie, and then I um I decided I needed some air. So I just walked to the shops, did a food shop and walked back again. Uh trying to formulate what I think about it, but let's cover what happens in it first, and then I shall tell you what I think about it. So it's only 76 minutes long, which is probably the best thing about this movie. Um, and it does actually make it almost tolerable, but I will say I was checking my watch from about 17 minutes in, um, and I did fast forward parts of it, certainly for the last two-thirds. We open with a woman who has broken down, her car was broken down. Uh Dwight no uh John stops uh in a uh pickup truck and says, Hey, you know, it's really cold out here, it's freezing. It's not. He says that a couple of times, it's not remotely freezing, because everyone's just wearing loose jacket, light jackets, and and t-shirts, but he says it's freezing. Oh, you know, if I can give you a lift into town if you want, and she says, Oh, thank you very much, that's really nice of you. She then gets in his car, uh, and we see a knife under the seat. Uh, under his seat, um, and we then hear on the radio uh that from DJ Lisa, uh the DJ DJ, that there are have been four murders, and that there is a serial killer targeting women because they keep finding uh finding the bodies in the woods. We then have this weird scene with Lisa and her friend, we don't know who her friend is, we'll never see her again after this, uh, talking about a guy from school because the friend is thinking of going with him to their 10-year reunion, and Lisa starts talking talking about how he stole loads of money from his mum, but the friend keeps saying, Yes, but he's got a boat. And then we jump straight to Lisa DJing. We didn't need that scene at all. Um throughout this film, by the way, uh Chris Mays uh we do get from Chris Mays, we do get a load of Easter eggs. There's a Chris Mays hemisphere poster uh just behind her while she's working, and throughout the radio station, there are headshots and notice board clippings uh with people's faces on them that are clearly people who have bought the perk from this from Crowdfunder. So I've I've done this before. Uh there's a movie out there called Springer, uh, which is a sniper movie that has my picture uh in front of a helicopter, actually looking quite badass wearing my New York Military Academy baseball cap. Um and yeah, it's kind of cool, but this this is throughout though. I mean, it's literally like yeah, your yours you're you're facing our movie for 50 bucks kind of thing on Indiegogo or Crowdfunder or whatever, and then they literally keep cutting away from the action and showing like a list uh like a row of photos with people. Um reminds me I must chase uh Springer just to see where what's going on with that because I know they were doing some final work on it this month. Uh Lisa is then interrupted by her sole producer Dwight to basically say to tell her this story of the radio station being built on a uh a nuclear waste dump and storage facility where there is pure uranium just below the surface. And that the that the uh authorities are coming to uh to check it out, to investigate it. Uh, but what it's really done is force his hands uh force his hand and the hand of the owner of the radio station, who are now gonna sell the radio station because it's not making any money anyway. And so Lisa, who is the uh the Timu version of Kristen Stewart, um says, No, no, you can't this is my dream. My dad was a radio DJ, and blah blah blah, and I want to be a radio DJ, blah blah blah. And you know, Dwight says, you know, the old format is dead, and it's not one of those things you can bring back. And I th I I thought that was great and cheesy and awful. Um gets a radio uh thing that says she's been um dumped by her boyfriend Daryl. Uh she goes home and finds that all of his stuff has been moved out. It's like, when did this happen? When did you go home? And now you're back at the radio station again? All of this makes sense. The the the continuity is awful. Um a lot of the scene shot it's literally just filler. I mean, literally, I wouldn't have that shot that first scene with a friend talking about the guy on the boat for a start. That's like three minutes gone. I wouldn't have going on discovering the boyfriend's missing uh again. I mean, really, it there's a lot of shit. And also the thing is to to pad it out to 76 minutes, they've reused so many of the shots that it just doesn't make sense. So um yeah, I mean I would have for this movie, I would have definitely have well watched the dailies and then edited it as you're going along because you're just creating a nonsense otherwise. Um, and the guys, Chris Mays, has created a nonsense with this. So um as she talks to the radio public, her listeners, uh asking them to um donate to keep the radio station up and running, uh, serial killer John dumps another body in the woods talking to it as if, you know, I'm sorry, but you know, it's it's it's it's me, not you. And I appreciate you. I hope you know that kind of thing, as she's clearly dead, but he's talking to her as if she's not. The cleanup crew for the uranium are basically three guys, oh two guys and a woman. The guy one of the guys is just a fucking slacker, the other two are at least in hazmat suits. Um they're gonna go down and look at the uranium. You two, you're gonna go and look at the uranium. Yes, what radio channel do we are we on? I'm on three, I'm on twelve. You should probably be on the same radio channel. You two, go down. If there's any problems, let me know. That was actually better acting than we saw in this scene. We then have an awful scene of Lisa dancing, getting down and funky to some music. Awful, awful, awful. She then moans on the radio about her splitting from her boyfriend, which is heard on the radio of the pickup truck being driven by serial killer John. We get repeated shots of the same the same shot of the serial killer's car parked in the woods as seen from the woods. It is just awful. Just awful, just awful. Um it's just awful. Awful, awful, awful. We then see more headshots of the DJs and the other people. Um that we've already seen already. We've seen her move move the um the sliders up and down, and the record that's always playing, or it's even though it's different music, is the same record based on the in you know that that circle in the middle and the pattern on it. We keep seeing the same shot of the record going round, uh, even though it's different music. Uh the cleanup crew, um, apparently, according to Dwight, will cause the radio, uh the phone service to go down. Um well, obviously, because they're gonna turn the phone lines off for no apparent fucking reason. Um but then here comes serial killer John, who basically thinks that uh Lisa was talking to him directly when she was talking about the boy ex-boyfriend, and drives into the radio station and then just walks in. Hi, I'm John. Can I come in? He uses the excuse that it's freezing out there, even though he's wearing just a t-shirt and an open loose ja uh light jacket. And he uses the excuse that his car was broken down the on the road, and she's like, Well, there's a gas station at the end of this road, and she's like he's like, Yeah, yeah, but it's closed. Okay. Um the idiot cleanup crew are down in the basement. Uh there's like barrel, there's like barrels, and they've all got like the the radioactive uh ha you know hazard sign, biohazard stickers on it, but the stickers are even peeling off. You know, it's like they're not even stuck on properly. And if this is like a uranium, a military uranium store that's been there for 30, 40 years, you would have thought that it would be in a certainly better condition than it fucking is. At least paint the fucking hazmat signs on stuff rather than you stickers that are coming off. The two guys are down there, two they're two idiots, so then one of them looks down and goes, Oh, there's light coming from there, and it's like a cupboard. It's literally like an under-the-sink cupboard. They open it and it's got all these like metal containers, um, which of course have got the uranium in it, and they're glowing green, and then he decides to touch one and it burns through his plastic gloves as far as his hand, and he screams. Not very professional. Um, clearly they've not handled uranium before. Uh, they then call the boss then calls down and asks if anything is going on, uh what's going on, and then it's just a growl at the other end of the radio, to which she goes, she tells another guy who doesn't even get to speak, you wait here. I'm gonna go down and see what's going on. We then get more radio station uh indie go go headshots, as John is buttering up Lisa, saying she's an incredible DJ. And at this point, I started falling asleep, and I was only 17 minutes in. Um I would say definitely watch Ponty Paul, it's the best radio station zombie movie by far, and then Dead Air if you have to, and then this. Pob Meyer with Dead Air is the director, actually, it's Corbyn Burnson, actually, um, who's a right sort of like the writer-director of that one, um, from LA Law, if you remember, and the first season of um The Punisher. Uh, you will he basically must not like Patricia Torman. Because her character, who was the badass Barbara in the Tom Savini uh remake of Night of the Living Dead, is incredibly inept, falling down, uh, just walking into traps and the like. She is useless in that, but still better than this. We see Dwight at his laptop, uh, who is like all these emails about the yellow cake yellow cake uranium, and there's one at the top from a scientist that says, open this, urgent, which sounds like it's spam to me, but he doesn't even read it because he gets up, walks into the radio booth where serial killer John is busy zip tying Lisa to her chair, and then John stabs him repeatedly in the stomach until he dies. At the same time, the zombies burst from the Uranium bunker uh and head towards the radio station, which is literally just there. It's like 30 feet away. But they will spend the remaining hour of this movie trying to get the 30 feet from the bunker to the radio station. John drags Dwight's body out to the back of the radio station in a rug after rolling it up and just looks over at these zombies and kind of frowns and then heads back in. I mean, I would have that's the moment when this could have been a funny comedy because he could have looked at them and just went, Oh, zombies. Uh instead, he just keeps going as if nothing has happened. Um The TV in the radio station that has not been on for the entire movie is now on now. For no reason. It just happens to be on, and it's on the news, and it's that Amanda uh character who is played by the woman from the Odyssey and Masters of the Universe, and they are trying to find a story. Um John wants to give Lisa her radio show back, but first of all, he needs to take her away, which means he's gonna probably try to kill her, and he says you could do the whole thing on automatic. You could just record your little bits, make sure that everything's queued up, and it will just go. Meanwhile, the the TV station is still the TV is still on and we're talking to serial killer experts who give him a nickname that he doesn't like and saying that the killing is all sexual, which makes him particularly angry. He then on the CCTV camera, uh C V T CC TV screen, which is in the corner of the room that we didn't notice before, outside near his truck, we see lots of people. Now, at this point, John and Lisa are in the radio booth wearing t-shirts. The next shot is of the two of them leaving the radio and Lisa is zip tied to the chair. The next shot is the two of them leaving the radio booth with jackets on. Before the two of them go into the the uh reception area, the lobby of the radio station, and he zip ties Lisa to a chair there. Why not just wheel her on an existing chair? In which case you're not wasting zip ties. Anyway, John is angry about people being close to his truck, so he heads out and stabs a couple of them in the neck, killing them, even though they are zombies before realizing they aren't humans, so he runs back inside. They look like people, he says, but they're not people. Um Jesus Christ. But we do get the uh we then I tell you what, we then and it's ridiculous, we get this weird jokey comedy music. Sort of like the sort of music you'd listen hear on like a Looney Tunes cartoon or something, which is completely out of place. I don't even know why it's there because nothing funny is happening Excuse me, hiccups is actually happening. And now they're back in t-shirts again and not jackets. Uh the phone um has been disconnected. We knew it was disconnected, but what Lisa does is something that they do in movies that isn't a thing, is they pick up the handset and keep touching, you know, tapping on the uh uh the button and then going, Hello, hello, can you hear me? Hello? Who are you calling? There is no there used to be back in the day, you used to do that and you'd get through to the um operator. You go click, click, click, click, and the operator go, hello, how can I redirect your call? Doesn't happen like that anymore. We have electric we have electronic exchanges. Nothing is happening. Anyway, so she calls her listeners to call in and gives them her cell phone number and says, Look, can you please call us, call in and tell us if you can see and if you know anything strange is going on near the radio station? Let us know. And we keep seeing these shots, same shots of the zombies heading slowly towards the radio station, even though they were right there from the beginning. Um, and we see the record on the turntable again. It's the same record on the turntable but different music. We then get this really awkwardly weird long scene of uh the TV channel and Amanda going to the bathroom again, more headshots on the wall. Um it's just weird. It's just weird. Um before Lisa then um speaks on the f her mobile phone to Lloyd, who is the R-Shole owner of the radio show, who doesn't listen to a word she's saying and basically just keeps saying it was unprofessional of you to give your personal phone number out on the radio, and you know the place is being closed down, and you should know better if you're a professional, and then hangs up on her when she's just trying to say, get help. John realizes at this point that he's got a gun in his truck and will go and get it and asks her to wish him luck, like the two of them are friends or partners or something. This is where it could have been made funny, but it just wasn't. Um and uh John says, you know, oh can you can you just wish me luck? And she's like, uh I wish you good luck. Um which is really weird. Um that he thinks they're on the same side before as he's about to leave, he says, if you call out to the public and get them to call the police, I will kill you. More of the same zombie shots of them slowly walking towards the the radio station, which uh literally the same shot. We also see the moon a few times, uh, and it is repetitive. Uh, Lisa is playing now the music Lisa's playing is now so loud, she doesn't need it to be loud because she could just plug her headset in and she wouldn't hear it, right? She said she doesn't hear a zombie come in. At this point, I started fast forwarding it. Uh the zombie, I guess, gets killed because I didn't actually see what happened to it. But then what happens is a singer called Sophia and her manager come in. And they think that um uh that John is the manager of the radio station. I mean, I I'm not sure how they got in. Uh I did fast forward for like 10 minutes. Um I'm guessing they got through the back door because there were no zombies there, uh, and they must have run into um John when John was getting rid of the zombie. I'm guessing this was getting rid of the zombie via the back door again, which is what he did earlier. So uh I'm thinking and they just think that the you know the radio station is fine because the girl wants to Sophia wants to sing her song on the radio station, and a manager wants to promote her. So they're clueless as to what's happening. The zombies then burst in via the front door, and there's loads of them. And the idiot manager thinks that they're crazy fans there for Sophia. So he heads over to basically usher them out. One grabs him, bites him on the hand, which is done okay, but then he falls on the ground and they drag him out to eat him off camera. There's lots of shit done off camera, by the way. It's basically they they didn't film it. Um, there's lots of uh off you know, basically out of shot stuff as well, where they'll just voice over a scene just to plug gaps because this movie has been put together so poorly, with really bad sound effects. Uh really bad sound effects of the zombies eating the manager as well. And a shot off the moon again. Uh the singer is, if possible, more annoying than uh the other characters. Uh and I didn't think it was possible uh for this movie to get any worse, but it just did. Um okay, look. I'm having a quick sip of my drink because this is annoying me now. If you were making a zombie movie that is clearly bad, at least ham it up. At least make it funny. Or at least make it obviously that this is a B movie and that the actors in it are either really bad B movie actors or they're decent actors that are playing a ham a hammed hammy up, hammed up um uh character in this, you know, when you watch Exit Humanity and it's got Bill Mosley and Stephen McHatty in it, you know, when it's got Eric Roberts or Malcolm McDowell and it's got all these guys in these shitty, shitty B movies, either play it for laughs or ham it up. Don't play it serious because no one's gonna no one is watching this movie and thinking, oh my god, I was scared in that zombie movie, or it was a good zombie movie, or anything about this movie was good. The the stupid premise This is the premise, guys. You should have stopped stepped back and gone There's a serial killer killing women um and thinking that he's in a relationship with them. Uh he then goes after hearing on the radio that she's been dumped to a read local radio station to find the DJ there at the same time that a zombie apocalypse is going on. So it's the relationship, if anything, between a serial killer killing women and a jilted you know sardonic radio post. That's a comedy, right? It's not this horrible far taking itself far too seriously, poor derivative shit. For example, Drail of the Dead, below average animation. You're you're you're welcome, but that's on me. Decent voice talent, giving people an opportunity, half a dozen people, actually a little bit more now, but closer to ten people getting an opportunity to record uh their stuff and then put it on to i me putting it onto film. Um but doesn't take it seriously at all. It's a parody, it's a comedy, it's a zombie movie, but it's a parody and a comedy zombie movie. Thumbs up from the from the movie nerds. This this is a two thumbs down negative Fonzy. It's trying to be a drama, it's just poor. Because even the premise is comedic. The pure uselessness of the cleanup crew should make it a comedy alone. But it didn't. So the TV News and Amanda were now getting calls from the public talking about the radio station, and there are people near the radio station being attacked, and it seemed like they were zombies. Back at the radio station, and I shit you not, Sophia, Lisa, and John grab wood, I don't know where they got this wood from, and then they do a slow motion walk towards the camera around the corner and directly at the camera to rock music, like they are guardians of the galaxy. And I genuinely felt embarrassed for them so much that I covered my eyes with my hand to hide the fact that that is what they were doing. It was ludicrous, not funny, they were doing it seriously too. A slow-mo walk towards the camera. Now, Lisa opens uh Lisa goes into Dwight's office and finds his laptop is still open and powered, and even though they have no phone service, somehow he's got internet service still. So she reads the email from the doctor, and it's actually got a video attached that talks about materials in the bunker and some really ridiculous low extra level contrived bullshit about if you touch, if you come into contact with the uranium, then it will um it will ch transform you. And you're like, what are you talking about? What will happen if you get anywhere near yellow cake uranium? Is it will fucking rot you from the inside out and make basically, depending on how long you're exposed, cancer and an early death. Not turn you into a zombie. Meanwhile, Amanda, the news reporter, is trying to work out the whys, the wherefalls, and she's talking about talking to herself and to the camera. Not sure why that this plot line is in this movie at all. If you removed all of the plot line with the TV news, you'd be fine. The only time there was kind of an interaction is uh when it was first on saying that there were four four murders, and he says there were John said there was five, and then it starts talking, give him a stupid nickname and saying that it was probably sexual. That was it. The rest of the plot isn't even needed. But then if you removed it, you'll be less than 70 minutes, and I guess if you suddenly drop less than 70 minutes, it stops being classed as a feature film. Is that the thing, Chris Mays? So this is full of padding just to keep it in the category of being a feature, I'm guessing. Um we then see the same zombies in the same shot heading towards the station again. But now we see it. The same shot we've seen like four times already. But then we get a voiceover from the guys inside. Oh my god, they're everywhere, says Sophia. Um we just need to make sure those things don't get in, says John. Yes, I agree, says Lisa. Fucking hell. John and Lisa then say, I tell you what, we're gonna leave, get in the car and get out of here. Uh we're gonna use the tunnels that are under the building that apparently how do you know there were tunnels under the building when you didn't even know there was a bunker under the building, Lisa? Anyway, the singer Sophia, who's basically been causing issues the whole time, basically says, I'm gonna stay put. I don't want to go into any tunnels, and if anything, I'm gonna be on the radio letting them have letting everybody listen to my music. Jesus Christ. What sort of place is this? asks the singer as the other two leaves. And John says, Well, it's a nuclear storage site masquerading as a radio station, obviously. Um in the basement they go down there. Uh Lisa is attacked by one of the original um uh cleanup crew, the guy with the the guy who wasn't wearing a hazmat suit. Um, and it takes far too long for John to kill him. And when he kills him, it's basically this terrible cut between him getting the knife in the head, him reacting to it, and then him falling down. It was done really, really badly. Sophie's talking to the world about zombies. We see lots of photos of the people on the wall again, a lot of thank yous, a lot of crowdfunding here. Um The zombies could get me. Uh oh no, no, we don't know. So I'm sorry about that. That's Lisa and uh Lisa and John are now in in these tunnels in the basement. Uh and then John doesn't really care, and Lisa's like, the zombies could get me, and they could get you too, and he goes, I don't care. And he goes, That's not normal, John. And John goes, Lisa, the normal train left the station a while ago. Again, it should be a comedy, it's not. This could be a comedy in the same vein as Night of the Living Deb. This could have been Night of the Living Deb 2. But it isn't, because they're trying to play it seriously. Sophie puts a radio on a song on the radio, she doesn't barricade the door at all and just stands in the corner holding a mug, looking at the door as it kind of shakes, and then when the door opens, you only see the top of the door, you hear the zombies, and then you hear her being killed. You don't see it off the c off camera shit. We then see John looks around the corner and there's a fork in the um uh fork in the in the tunnel that they're in. Uh and says there's a load of zombies out there, too many for us to fight. Um I will go and attack them and draw them away down one side of the tunnel, you escape down the other. And then he then runs off, and whatever happens happens off camera. You kind of hear shooting and shouting and zombies. Lisa then thinks it's a brilliant idea to blow the place up. So she finds this tube that's hanging from the ceiling that has a big white sign on it that says turn for gas. So I think she then turns on the gas and she basically shouts to John to lay down because I'm gonna set I'm gonna set the gas alight and blow all the zombies up. And I mean, and the nuclear waste that's in the basement, too. You're gonna blow up and therefore create particles for the air of uranium. You're gonna blow uranium into the atmosphere. Anyway, she sets a rag alight and then runs off, telling her dead parents that you know I've actually you know, mum and dad, yeah, yeah, yeah, finally met a guy. Turns out he's a bit of a serial killer. Yeah, yeah, his name's John. John, these are my parents. Again, that could have been funny, but it's incredibly out of place in this, and I use inverted commas, I'm doing the sign now, drama. We then get really bit bad running away from her, and then there is a pause because she looks back at the radio station, and then it then it look then there's a terrible CGI explosion. No, there's not. There's an explosion off camera first, and she then is on the ground after it cut to black. It we then and then John's knife blade, which would have been underground with John, lands smoking next to her on the ground. Not sure how that could have happened when he was underground. Um and then we look up and the whole place is burning down with bad, bad CGI to a point where the whole building is literally on fire and burning down, and it's just skeletal, but still the DJ microphone with its with its foam cover are still in one piece, so we can see it melt itself, you know, as a single shot before before Lisa gets in her car of Volkswagen Carmen Gear, decent choice for once. Uh, and then as she's driving off, she actually drives out onto a busy road, and like no one's stopping because nothing nothing really happened. She like joins traffic. Like if this was if there was a a an explosion at the radio station and the whole place is on fire, do you not think that people would stop? She just joins busy traffic because it nothing's really happening, it's just literally someone driving out of a parking lot in a car. Um he's then driving in the countryside, and then she gets a phone call from Amanda from the TV station saying, Hey, I think that you're someone that I would need to speak to. And that was it. Uh Jesus, motherfucking god. Right, I'm gonna have another drink sip of this drink. I know, I know what you're saying. I know what you're gonna say. Michael says it all the time. He says, You make that sound good. Hopefully, I didn't make it sound good. Because this movie was not good. Okay, having just made a movie and then going and taking pickup shots, right? So e I we I made a 35-minute animated short that I then chopped down to 28 minutes, and then as I was editing it all together, I was like, Well, we need an extra shot there, and an extra shot there, and an extra shot there. I filmed an extra shot today, where um Eli Katz is looking at a calendar, and the calendar is the calendar that his housemate gives out because he's a real estate agent, and he's literally Daniel Bloom real estate. You know, help me, you know, buy, sell, invest, help me find the you the house of your dreams, home of your dreams, kind of thing. Uh which is quite which Eli's obviously defaced, uh, but it shows us the the passage of time and two Eli's gonna be rescued. Um my point being that if you watch the movie back and it just didn't make sense, you go, well, we need to either re-edit it completely, or we need to go and do some pickup shots. What they did here was they jammed in more shots of the same shot of the zombies heading toward slowly towards the uh the radio station, and then they just voiced them over but with the main actors. Um it was wholly unsatisfying uh the ending. Um the kills were done off camera, all the kills were off camera other than when uh John stabs Dwight in the stomach. That was the only kill that was on camera, oh other than when he kills the zombie that was attacking Lisa at the end. So that was it. And there were a dozen zombies outside, five people that he had murdered as a serial killer. Um the the the Sophia's manager or Sophie's manager was killed but off camera. Um Sophie was killed, but out of shot. Um it's just oh man, it's just a mess. And it's still only 76 minutes. It's 76 minutes, you could have lost six minutes of that with the repetitive shots of the fucking moon. Another 10 minutes would have gone if you'd actually removed the unnecessary plot line with uh the TV station. Why do you need the TV station? It's like it wasn't like the TV station and Amanda were investigating what's happening at the radio station. There was literally just one person calling in and saying, Well, I was by the radio station and I saw all his pupil wearing hazmat suits come out of the out of the the O undergrowth. One of them was eating a hand. Yeah, great. And I think they were zombies. Yeah, good. Excellent. Okay, fine. So I can I'm only gonna moan about it because it's not gonna it's not getting any better in my mind. I mean there were some funny moments that were unintentional. There were some cringy moments, the fucking slow motion walk around the co uh corner, awful, awful, some terrible continuity choices where basically or lack of continuity, so they're no choice, you just didn't fucking pay attention. It was the lack of the eye of d lack for the eye of d you know, lack of an eye for detail, right? Um oh I'm gonna leave the TV right the right the TV on. Yes, the TV on. She's she is zip tied to a fucking chair. It must have been on the whole fucking time. We never see anyone turn it on, and we never see anyone turn it off, but it's on when we have those scenes, you know, when we talk when they're talking to a a psychiatrist about the killer. Um it's just poor. It's just really, really poor. And even with a fast forwarding to get to the end, it was poor. I've scored it three out of ten. Is that generous? It could be. But because actually Lisa's acting and the acting of the serial killer John was okay, I am gonna leave it with three out of ten. Three out of ten's kind of my Yeah, it it's not so bad, it's it's un well, it is kind of unwatchable. I did fast forward it, but it's like, you know, the Wesley Snipes fucking g uh uh gallow walkers. Jesus fuck. Anyway, let's let's just take a pause. Thank you, ladies and gentlemen. This has been Darren Smith for the Undead Symphony episode 374, in which I watched, because I don't want to watch Bloodthirsty or Urban Flesh Eaters, I watched um Air Shift, uh, which is the third worst zombie movie set in a radio station.
