Wading through TUBI again this weekend and the stink is under my fingernails. Johnny Gruesome is next up, a story of a revenant coming back to wreak revenge on those he thinks did him wrong.
In this case it is D student metal head Johnny Grissholm, a drink driving, pot smoking thug that they try (and fail) to portray as a victim. He isn't he is a dick. Along with his slutty GF Karen, backstabbing dope dealing buddy Gary and nerdy virgin Eric.
Johnny, a son of a drunk father, lives in a Podunk town, and one night, after being suspended from school, and beating a kid up in the parking lot of school, drives like a maniac whilst drinking. Gary can't stand it so chokes him to death in front of the others and they agree to make it look like an accident.
And he comes back and starts killing everyone. Not that you notice, the deaths, the makeup, the acting, the music, and the cinematography is so you can't even think about the minimal plot.
Don't waste your time. Watch The Revenant instead, which is also on TUBI.
3/10
And I'm back, ladies and gentlemen. I am back for another episode of The Undead Symphony with me, Don Smith. Still working my way through um Tubi. However, I have like the top five Tubi movies, of which I've now seen one, which is Signal, which actually joins Savage Land and Interlopers as the best three movies I have seen to date. They have other movies on there. They got Sean of the Dead's on there now. Actually, all of the Simon Pegg movies are on Tubi now. Anyway, the movies that I haven't seen, uh most of which look awful. Um the next one could potentially be awful. So um I did you know list the 25 movies I hadn't seen on uh Tubi and Watch Signal, which I think the signal, which I think was very good, you know. But I think I might have lucked out. Because from now on it's all downhill. So what I did is I randomly picked uh the second movie that I should be watching from Tubi, and it is Johnny Gruesome from 2018, when a bullied outcast teen, Johnny Grissom, played by Anthony Della Torre, is murdered in a staged accident by one of his so-called friends. He returns from the grave as a revenant to get even on those who tormented him in life or caused his death. Or high school students Eric Carter and Johnny Grissom are best friends. Johnny is a heavy metal rebel named Johnny Gruesome by his classmates. When Johnny is murdered while on a drunkard joy ride, his killer persuades Eric and Johnny's girlfriend to help him make the murder look like an accidental death. Johnny returns from the grave as a murderous, wise cracking zombie, hell bent on revenge. Haven't we all been there, ladies and gentlemen? It gets uh 67%, which is very uh respectable on Wotton Tomatoes, but uh in the doldrums 3.8 on IMDB. It stars, as I said, Anthony Della Torre as Johnny Grissom, Byron Brown II as Eric Carter, Michael Delorenzo plays Charlie Grissom, I'm guessing that's Johnny's dad. Um Chris Modrozinski plays Gary, Travis Torlone plays Todd, John Renner plays Mr. Milton, uh Karen Slatter plays April Ann. Uh Ron DeYoung plays Madison and Kim Plaza plays Carol. Um grabbing a couple of random uh random reviews off of IMDB 4 out of 10. So there is a 10 out of 10, by the way, and it gets slated by everybody who marks it down as unhelpful. Uh but four out of ten, seriously lacking in quality. Johnny is a teenage revenant back from the dead and seeking revenge on those who did him wrong and betrayed him. Just finished this up. This film is based on a book of the same name written by Gregory Lambertson. I've never read it, but after watching this film, I can say that the story isn't bad. However, the only thing going it is the only thing going for this movie. Let's start with the acting. Yeah, um, it's pretty rough. I can't I can't say that uh even one actor played their part with any skill. Every actor in this was off. You could really see that the acting was being forced, and that takes away from the viewers' ability to invest in what's happening. Sorry, but it was really tough. Let's move on with the sound design and cinematography. This guy's thorough, isn't he? Maybe the boom operators are new to the film industry, but the audio seemed to be to sound hollow from time to time, and the actors just didn't seem to be picked up with any consistency. Well, surely you would do um audio post post-production, wouldn't you? Anyway, the songs for the soundtrack seemed amateurish too. There were some okay moments with the cinematography, but it had some weird moments too. Makeup and special effects. I'm guessing the makeup was passable. There was some CGI stuff, and although you can clearly see that this is low budget, it may have been one of the better aspects of the film. The good things about it are that I found that what a revenant is. Oh, well, you should just watch the Revenant then. Uh, and Johnny was a character I could get into. I'm not crazy about zombie flicks, well, why fucking review it? I know I'm in the minority here, but they just seem played out and they come in so many variations that I'm just over them. Johnny is a bit different. Uh, like Johnny Z. Um that's another one, is it? Johnny Z, Johnny Z, Johnny Gruesome, Johnny Z. A Revenant is a being that is reanimed. Oh come on, just don't tell us what a revenant is. Anyway, the guy goes on to describe what a revenant is, which is effectively a zombie. Uh, bottom line, this is a great story made with a low budget and unseasoned professionals. If you can get past the acting, watch it for the story alone. I'm really glad I made it to the end. Hopefully, someone else can come along with a better budget and a bit more finesse and do the right by the story. Hmm. The second review. Ford F10. Passable. The acting is very weak, but the movie isn't bad. The makeup and effects, etc., are decent. I may have given it five stars out of ten, but I'm tired of the no nudity shower trope. So basically the guy would have scored it higher if he'd seen a pair of tits. If you're gonna show a woman showering and no and do not show any nudity, there is no point in having the shower scene. That was the guy's review. So basically, this was a guy who just wanted to see a pair of tits on arse. Ah, well, to be fair, there's nothing wrong with tits, and there's nothing wrong with an arse. So I do understand why he's looking for it. However, it shouldn't be one of the things you've picked up on in your four-line review of a movie. That being said, I may also pick it up on that when I do my review after I've seen it. But right now, this is the Undead Symphony with me, Darren Smith. I do not want to know what episode this is, but I shall be watching Johnny Gruesome from 2018.
SPEAKER_01Hey y'all, this is Stephanie from the Listeners of the Dead Podcast, and you're listening to The Undead Symphony.
SPEAKER_00And I'm about to take a pause, by the way. Uh I'm halfway through the movie and I am reflecting seriously on what those two reviewers from IMDB said. The acting is pretty awful, the cinematography uh mixes between incredibly wavering uh and shocky, shocking hand cam to normal. Uh, but then awful cuts, uh, unnecessary scenes, uh, unnecessary shots. But there, you know, what can we do? Um, so uh let's just do the first half of this movie, shall we? Um awful, by the way. Uh, we open to poor rock music and a brief flyover of a rural town called Red Hill. Um, Red Hill is the location for this movie. Uh, it is a uh rural town, from what we can tell. There's a lot of woodland around it. Um, those tiny pissant little towns that somehow has got a school. I don't know how, given the fact that the whole town is tiny. Uh, we open, like I say, with some poor rock music and a fly over this port pissant rule town. We are in the car park of the high school, which is attended by very similar. I mean, I've seen a lot of teen movies in my time. The thing that actually the movies that got in me into movies were like the Brat Pack, um, with the Brat Pack movies of the mid-80s, uh, where suddenly it's oh yeah, we've got like, you know, I love Breakfast Club, by the way, right? Breakfast Club was my thing. My original Yahoo uh chat account on Yahoo chat, Y Chat, was Breakfast Clubber, because I loved the Breakfast Club so much. I could quote The Breakfast Club and Afheris Beulah end-to-end, as well as loving all of those other movies. Uh Pretty in Pink, some kind of wonderful, she's having a baby. All of those movies, 16 candles, the like, the lot, right? Um, and one thing about most of those movies is that the kids in them are not kids. You know, it's even a joke in um uh not another teen movie that the uh never been kissed character of Drew Barrymore is played by an elderly woman because there are people who are in high school who just look like they're in their 20s and 30s. Um, like Grease. I mean, someone managed to try to pass the casting of Grease, the movie, off to be teenagers, where most of them looked like they were in their 30s. Anyway, these are 20-somethings playing high schoolers. Enter Johnny and his friend Eric. Eric is a bit of a nerd, um, has a normal education, a normal school, uh, you know, he's quite um clever, uh, quite well off uh for the town. Uh Johnny is just trash, who has no his mum has left, his drunkard dad, and he is just trash. He don't care, he's living 90 miles an hour. Um he's got a terrible car covered in flames and the like, and like lanky long metal head hair, and he's just a metal head. Um his his friends are also metalheads, including Gary, who is a drug dealer, and his girlfriend Karen, who's a bit slutty. Uh, I would say that all of them are in their mid-20s uh at this point, some of them potentially older. Um, one of the uh normal kids, the rich kids, call get call over to Eric and say, Hey, why are you hanging out with these losers? You should be over here with us, because these are students uh and you know, well educated and well funded by their parents. And but they call uh Johnny Grissom, Grissom as his name is uh Johnny Gruesome as an insult, and he's like, Well, fuck it, I'll just take all three of you on now. Uh and he would. He's you know, that his character is written so poorly, he he basically believes that he could just fight everyone and and beat them, which is that whole Vin Diesel thing that I hate, that you're invincible, uh, which is ridiculous. Anyway, he basically ends up fighting the leader of the kids and beating them up quite quite convincingly, as a bunch of baying 20 somethings turn up to watch. Awful acting from the kids. We then see the principal, um, who actually, if you thought the kids were awful, his acting is some of the worst I've ever seen from a human being. Um, who suspends Johnny for a week because of the fight um and threatens him with expulsion. The one thing the principal doesn't want is to keep Johnny on or Johnny back a year, because that would mean that you'll have to deal with him for another year. I have a cup of tea. Salute, as they say. So, of course, dad uh Johnny's dad is the archetypal unemployed, violent arsehole drunk. Uh we uh you know, because basically he won't put up with Johnny's stuff, he's like, you're not too small for me to beat the shit out of you, kind of thing. Only the dad was in New York undercover, one of the two leads who ended up, you know, fighting, you know, being really amazing for two seasons. In the third season, wanted more money, uh, but then ended up in a big fight with the showrunners and ended up being fired. So, um, which is a shame because he's probably the only decent actor in this entire movie. Um, we have more bad rock music montage of the kids. Uh, we then see Johnny, Eric, um, Gary, and Karen in Johnny's car driving through the town, and Eric's getting stoned, and they're all drinking beer whilst driving. Uh, and sorry, not Eric's getting stoned. Gary's getting stoned. Everyone's getting stoned, everyone's driving around having a bit of a good time. Despite moaning about Gary doing Coke on the back seat because Johnny told him not to, Johnny has been drinking beer whilst driving. And then he starts going a bit maniac, he starts speeding up faster and faster and faster. And this is like really, really dangerous. They're gonna get killed. And this is Gary's, who's sitting behind Johnny's, sensible way of stopping them getting killed. He puts he puts Johnny the driver, and they're driving 100 miles an hour at this point, in a chokehold from behind. They're basically wrestling, um, he's driving all over the place. Uh, and then uh Karen puts the cut puts the handbrake on to bring the car to a screeching halt at the bridge. There was this bridge we saw in the opening scene. Um, Gary then pulls Johnny out and then strangles him to death. I thought he was just putting him in a sleeper hold because that's how bad the acting was. It looked like a sleeper hold. Johnny just closes his eyes and goes to sleep. It's like if you're being genuinely choked to death, that's not your reaction. Um, but then you've just murdered your probably your best friend in front of two other people who are your other friends. But rather than trying to deal with the trauma of that, the three of them, Eric, Gary, and Karen, just decide to throw Johnny off the bridge in his car, uh and uh and then just make it look like an accident. It's like, what? Um we also have this terrible CGI of Johnny's ghost coming up from his body and then running at uh running at Gary and then sort of like dissipating. It was awfully, awfully done. Uh the cops are told about the accident. Fortunately for everyone, the cop in charge of the sheriff, the local sheriff or police chief, is married to Gary, Gary and uh everyone's teacher, who's basically a teacher at high school, who's teaching someone, people people who look almost as old as she is. As reward, and this has been like you know, as reward for being such a good student, Eric gets a car from his dad. And if you thought there was bad acting from the dad, or from the principal, wait till you meet Eric's dad. Um and basically then you have the you have the class, uh, and they all find out that Johnny has died um by uh they find that Johnny has died um over the PA system. Rather than being taken into the principal's office, and those people that you know are Johnny's friends, so his girlfriend Karen, his best friend Eric and Gary are not taken into the principal's office and told of his demise. It's just read out over the um over the tanoy by the principal, to which Gary stands up at one point and goes, Oh shit, and then looks at Eric. Uh, and then before going back to studying it, that's arguably some of the worst acting and writing I've ever seen in my life. We then cut to the autopsy. Uh Johnny is on the slab, and despite him being put in his car and driven off the bridge, and then basically being underwater for a period of time, um, he looks remarkably healthy, just with some stick-on autopsy scars. He's got the normal colouring and everything. Can't not move his eyes as well. Um, so even though the camera's over him, uh they basically have him, his eyes are moving behind his eyelids, uh, and his eyelashes are fluttering. And then his hand starts to move after the magician says, Look, it did, it could easily look like it's a murder, but you know, I'm gonna say it was an accident. Karen is already drinking at school, and now Gary is hitting on her and gives her some coke. Um, of course, she's allowed to drink, isn't she? Because she's clearly over 21. We have more awful cuts, awful acting at the funeral. Karen doesn't even go to the funeral. We get some terrible acting, probably the worst acting yet from the gravediggers and the priest. Some awful music choices. Let's just do some church organ. Uh, an awful transition where the grave is there with all the people standing next to the grave and then they disappear. Awful, awful transition. Uh, before more bad acting from the gravediggers as a reanimated Johnny in a combined king complete in his uh his funeral suit, staggers around in the background. And at this point, I was half an hour in of a 90-minute movie. Uh, we have some more awful lighting. This is how bad the lighting is, right? They're trying to make lightning. Okay, they're trying to make lightning, but what they do, rather than having like good lightning, it's literally someone turning a spotlight on and off, looking at the houses, not even flickering it like lightning, like it's just on, off, on, off, on, off. That's supposed to be lightning, by the way. Uh, Gary is masturbating for some reason. Uh, dad is drinking one bottle of whiskey after another, and Karen's just doing a ton of fucking blows, so she's not gonna sleep for the rest of the movie. I did feel like I was gonna have to fast forward, and I did fast forward some of the scenes at this point. It's not awful, I mean it is awful, it's not zombie in a shot zombie with a shotgun awful, and it's not night of the flatellating dead awful. It is just above those levels of awful. Drunk dad hears something upstairs, the creaking in the room above, which is Johnny's room, heads up and finds that the lock he's put on the door has been broken and something smells of death. So rather than investigating, he runs back downstairs and starts drinking and necking, literally necking, another bottle of vodka. More drone fly over of the town as Chris goes jogging and Karen continues her coke addiction before getting a call from a cell phone that says it's Johnny. Um the rich bully um is playing basketball by himself in the gym. He's a dick to the janitor, who's like, you know, I need I need to clean up and lock up. He's like, I just want to play for a little bit more. I will make you will lose your job if you keep pissing me off, because he's a cunt. And then uh the lights go out, but they're not out, so you can't see anything, which is how they would go out, right? They go out enough to just see everything. Johnny then walks in, and even though it's clearly fucking Johnny, because he's got the lank hair and he's only about 5'8, 5'9, rather than these six foot three fucking um short-haired janitor, the guy's like, is that you? Is that you? Whatever the janitor's name was. I will f I will get you fired. But no, it's not, it's Johnny who turns up, shoots a basket, a three-pointer, after being uh the ball is the basketball is thrown at the guy, but you know, at Johnny by the guy, and Johnny just catches it and then throws it and scores a uh a three-pointer. Johnny's got some bad contact scene, but the rest of him looks absolutely normal. He then pulls out a switchblade. And at this point, I was thinking the regular Johnny beat this guy up without taking breath. Didn't even bat an eyelid, beat the shit out of him, could have beaten him and his two buddies up at the same time. Um, and now he needs a knife to kill the guy. Well, Dodge doesn't need a knife to kill the guy, he needs a knife to chop the head, the guy's head off, who he then strings up by his feet from the basketball net. And that's what Avon finds the next day, and somehow all the teachers and all the students were allowed to go in and have a look, as the um as the useless principal says things like, It's okay, it's okay, maybe go back to your class and look after your students, kind of thing. It's like, dude, there's a fucking headless body there. Uh Gary actually Gary ends up with the head in his locker, and it is probably the worst acting we've had so far. He opens his locker, looks in, and then his eyes widen. Because that's your reaction to having a severed head in your uh your locker, is it? He then decides that he needs to hide the head, because if not, he'll get blamed for it, and probably Johnny as well. So he and Eric dump the head in the sewer. Before Eric heads over with this girl, who's very plain Jane that likes him, over to Johnny's dad, where they find out that Johnny's dad has actually died by drinking so much he ends up choking on his own vomit. And that was the first half of Johnny Gruesome from 2018 on Tubi.
SPEAKER_01Hey there, this is Alan Troutman, Tarman from Return of the Living Dead, parts one and two. Uh, you are listening to the Undead Symphony, and I have just one word for all of you. Say it with me. Brains. Enjoy, guys.
SPEAKER_00I'm back. Yeah, I'm back. Johnny Grusome part duh. Um I would say that I actually had to take a pause because this movie is pretty awful at times. Uh, not just the cinematography, the writing, the music, the acting, everything. Um now the CGI as well. Um, so I went to the gym and decided to work out my uh aggression uh on some weights there. I then mowed the lawn uh because it is the middle of summer or the end of summer here. Uh and I uh watered all of my trees. So I have two olive trees, an orange tree, and a lemon tree. Uh and uh others. Uh but those are the ones that needed more, more love, uh because they're in pots rather than in the ground. Um yep. Uh I went to the I went to town, I went shopping. I got a little bit angry where there's a basically the idea of for Dradel of the Dead is I'm gonna take it to festivals, right? So I've got eight different actors, I've got or eight act eight actors in total, uh including myself though. Oh excuse me, you're all coming on um and a violinist and some graphic artists, all involved in this project. Uh so you've got musicians and actors and uh everything, animators, the works. Um and I'm not sort of looking at festivals because I just wanted to be seen by a few people. I want to kind of want to refilm the ending, but once I have done it, it's gonna go out. Uh, and I just you know, I look at some of these festivals and say, Yeah, if you come to this festival, we got a prize pot of $7,000. That's excellent. You know, I'm not expecting a win, I just want a few people to see my movie to say that I made a movie and it was played at festivals. Uh, but I just saw today that there is a a festival for movies made solely using AI that has a million dollar prize fund. I mean, what chance do we have? That aside, we're back on Johnny Gruesome 2, which is not AI in any stretch of the imagination. Eric uh goes home to some bad piano to find Coke Slapper Karen, who is there. The two of them have a conversation about Johnny and how Karen didn't go to the funeral and she misses Johnny, but she's now with Gary, and there's no mention of the decapitated guy from their class uh at all. We do have that that nudity-free shower scene, but it's the teacher who gets naked. Uh Johnny uh sneaks in and basically is going after anyone who remotely slighted him by the sounds of it. Uh so Johnny is just a bit of a cunt. Uh he is a terrible creature before and after. You know, fine, yeah, you're a bit of a rebel metalhead with the with the cute girlfriend and a friend who's kind of the nerd, and another friend who's kind of a druggie, and you've got a big cart. Stick to that. Right? And then slowly lose your hair until you've got a bald mullet, and you're driving around in the same car with a beer belly and sitting on your porch at the end of every day smoking weed in the same town you grew up in. Uh, because you ain't going to college, boy. Um but no, he's he was a dick before he was dead, and he's a dick after, and as a and as a dick zombie or revenant, he's going after people, so he goes after the teacher, he forces himself on and kisses her before she scratches his cheek to pieces. Eric and plain Jane, that's Ronda, have a date. Uh and then we get the teacher, um, who's now in a little bit of trauma, uh, drinking wine and thinking about what happened and keeping a gun by her side and not telling her husband, the chief of police, what has happened. Gary is now a prick to Eric, calling him Erica, and after this awful shot of the two of them walking down the school hallways together, um, Johnny's walking around town in plain daylight now, wearing all of Johnny's clothes with Johnny's hair, albeit he's wearing a face mask and sunglasses, which will make you look completely like somebody else. Um he hides from the police in a hardware store that's run by a blind veteran. How's a blind veteran fixing anything? But the blind veteran thinks it's Johnny, here's Johnny, and it's like knows it's Johnny. Johnny then's like, Oh, damn. Oh no, my name's uh Sam. And the guy's like, I know your voice when I hear it. I also know the smell of the dead. So that's probably more to this guy than uh meets the eye, which is kind of like grandpa from The Lost Boys. That's one problem with this town. Too many damn vampires. Um Johnny uh is then shot repeatedly by the guy, uh, and then he falls out of the bit the sh the the uh the hardware store and is run over by a woman who then gets up, goes and checks his pulse, finds out, finds that he's dead, and just drives off. So hit and run, and he then gets up and starts cracking his body and it's like come on now, and it's like I don't it's just so inconsistent because at one you know it's like are we feeling sorry for him? No, because the guy's an arsehole, he's torturing people who are still alive, even though he didn't do anything. How is the teacher a mean person? She was just a teacher, she has to teach classes of 20-something year old teenagers who are all arseholes. Give her a fucking break. Anyway, the teacher asks Eric at school if he's experienced anything weird, and the two of them use the internet to look up ghouls and ghosts. Um have you experienced anything weird in the last couple of weeks? No, says Eric. What other than your best friend dying and his enemy turning up without a head? Um also Eric saw um thinks he saw um Johnny in his window, uh in the window of Johnny's house. We get some more awful, awful shot choices of Johnny's home, some of the wor you know, uh some of the um some of the worst photography I've seen actually in the history of cinema as Eric goes to Johnny's home for no apparent reason to check in his closet and there finds Johnny's funeral suit. So Johnny and the teacher uh Eric and the teacher go to dig up Johnny at the uh gray at the uh cemetery, but there's nobody there. There's nobody there. Uh but there, but you know Jesus Christ. Johnny then goes and kills the awful acting principal, maybe maybe for his acting. Um, and then he suffocates him. He says, You haven't got you have no guts, man, and then pulls his own out. And is what they seem to have done is much like uh a chicken that basically you put the giblets in a bag and put them back in the chicken. Um that uh after his autopsy, Johnny had all his organs put in a xellophane bag and stuffed inside his his torso, which he now suffocates the the principal with. We then see Gary fucking Karen, but Karen imagines Johnny. Eric then spills his guts to the police chief uh and the teacher, pretty unprompted, and it's terrible. Johnny then kills postcoitus Gary with a knife to the head before torturing and then murdering Karen with a crowbar to the head. So much for anything. This is literally just I'm gonna kill everybody. Um more awful rock music um after Eric is picked up by his uptight parents who are moaning. His mother is a piece of shit. Good acting, but piece of shit. Probably the best acting in the movie from um from his mother, who just moans at him for like getting a criminal record. Before she he sneaks out, gets in their SUV and drives off, driving to the bridge where Johnny died. The idiot cop husband is still denying it. Oh, in the face of mounting bodies. Apparently, Rhonda's now dead, and she was the the plain Jane. Uh, plus the principal is also dead. So Gary and Karen are also dead as well, as is the rich kid with a head with no head. So the idiot cop, police of chip police chief, is not is not listening to his wife, and he's like, she's like, look, go to the send two cops. He sent two cops to the gravesite to to check, and yes, there's no body there. Plus, there's dead bodies everywhere, and he's still in denial. I mean, come on, what who's your suspect then, police chief? Oh dickhead. Anyway, Johnny arrives at the bridge, which is really stupid because Eric shouts, Johnny, where are you? And then he drives from like miles away. He's like, How did he hear you? The two of them have a fight that's more of a lover's tiff. Apparently, John he has killed five people, uh, and so must include plain Jane. Uh, and then the two of them are fighting, they get to the edge of the the bridge just as the cop and the cop's wife arrive, the teacher, and the two of them go over the edge and in the water and continue their fighting. Then as they're continuing their fighting, Eric screams, It's not your fault, Johnny. No, it's not my fault, it's not my fault, Johnny. And then Johnny, we see this kind of like weird graphic that we did when um Johnny died and his soul left his body, and it's sort of like we see that graphic again, and then he melts. He catches fire and melts into a skeleton and falls into the water. Eric climbs out to be with the cop and the teacher, and then the skeleton of Johnny bursts out of the water, giving them all the bird before being shot by the cop and the um and and the and the teacher to pieces and then falling back in the water again, with Eric giving the sinking skeleton the bird back. Fuck me. The two of they all walk away and the cops makes the whole gag of, oh, I don't know how I'm gonna divide all this up, you know, paperwork joke. Before we have the final shot of Graveside, the grave of uh Johnny Grissom and the word gruesome graffited across it, before a giant awful CGI skeleton appears in shot, supposedly to make us jump, but it doesn't because it is awful. That is the end, thank fuck. 3 out of 10 at best. I'm gonna give it 3 out of 10. That was a 3 out of 10 at best. Is it as bad as Johnny Z? I would say this is worse than Johnny Z. Um, it's a 3 out of 10, it's a bottom 25%, bottom quartile for sure movie. Um inconsistent, poorly done, poor music, poor cinematography, poor acting, poor everything. You know, when I see so you know, I just made a 30-minute animated movie, right? And I am thinking, shit, my my movie's better than this. I mean, I do have some like wig wobbly hand cam. That's only because I didn't want to stop motion, you know, film everything, which takes for fucking ever. So the bits where there's a camera and it's moving between characters is literally me just going, I uh didn't want to animate this anymore at 25 frames a second. Anyway, apparently supposed to do 12 frames a second, which makes it um smoother, apparently, but I'm not too sure about that. Anyway, so it's a three out of ten for me. It is awful. If you want to watch a movie about a revenant that comes back from the dead, then watch the revenant. The revenant is a superb uh zombie movie, top 50 for sure. Excellent acting, genuinely funny, good special effects. Like it. This it was just a mess. Um, I mean, apparently it's based on a based on a book.
