You want to ask a question to the cop that we have here 786-313-3115. You can call or you can text me. Sir, welcome this morning. We have a guest here that I've known for many years and you might want to introduce yourself. You got the mic.

Speaker 3:

Thank you. Thank you, Good morning. It's an honor to be here. First and foremost, I want to say, by the grace of God, I'm here and by the grace of God, you guys are doing what you're doing and I'm super humbled and honored to be invited to be here with you guys to continue to spread the good news.

Speaker 2:

Amen, Thank you. Thank you for coming. How long have you been in law enforcement? I've been on now for 18 years, 18 years. And for the listener that is thinking man, what would make somebody go into the law enforcement? Because they think, oh man, all you eat is donuts.

Speaker 3:

But they don't know. That think, oh man all you eat is donuts, but they don't know and when we get to your story.

Speaker 2:

Well they're good right, but when we get to your story, man, you eat more than that Sometimes life throws a lot of things at you that you're thinking man, I can't eat this. But anyway, how did you get started in law enforcement? What made you want to get a badge and get the opportunity to serve and protect people, man.

Speaker 3:

Well, so as a kid I always had that in my heart. I wanted to be in the military. I wanted to be maybe an FBI or a state trooper. So I used to play basketball and I got interviewed at one point when I used to play in high school and it was all over the what's the telegram. It's in Massachusetts City and the interviews was was about that, and they asked what I wanted to do and I said this is what I want to do and that's how they put it on the paper.

Speaker 3:

And I still have that clip wow and it says fbi or state trooper, and I ended up becoming a state trooper, um, so I did that for 16 years and um, it was awesome. Yeah, it was awesome massachusetts.

Speaker 2:

You said we got listeners from Massachusetts believe it or not. So if you're listening from Massachusetts 786-313-3115. How in the world did you start in Massachusetts? That's classy people up there man.

Speaker 3:

Yes, yes. So my mom ended up. She ended up getting divorced from my dad and she ended up with her mom in Massachusetts and so there, that's where I grew up. I went to high school there, went to college there and then eventually, me and the wife while there, I was a Department of Correction officer. I was a yeah, I did that for a little bit. I was a gang officer.

Speaker 2:

I was a hostage. So you started actually law enforcement in Massachusetts, yes, sir, and you had time in corrections.

Speaker 3:

Yes, you had time.

Speaker 2:

What else? What other field you said you were in?

Speaker 3:

So before that I was a residential counselor.

Speaker 4:

Okay.

Speaker 3:

I did that and so, yeah, before that I was a criminal thinking or, after that, actually criminal thinking instructor, agnome management instructor, relapse prevention instructor to inmates at a medium security. So I taught them how to change. The world calls it behavioral modification. That's what I did. I got to their head and I threw thoughts and their emotions. I got them to focus on those things, what they were doing before their crime, so that they can change it if they got into that situation again. So that's behavioral modification, me and you know that that's not good, that's just a little band-aid, but for some people it helps for a little bit. It's a start.

Speaker 2:

It's a start it's a start, you know.

Speaker 3:

Hopefully you'll get them to behavior transformation yes, yes, so the lord has been, yeah, the lord's been working on me, me, for a long time.

Speaker 2:

So let's continue to walk through your life. You're in Massachusetts, you work in correction systems, you're helping people change their behavior, their thinking.

Speaker 3:

How do you come to sunny South Florida, my friend? So after that, after being a criminal, you know that type of instructor for the inmates I become a correctional officer. I do that. I'm become a correctional officer. I do that. I'm at a maximum prison there, the prison that I was at. If you remember the shoe bomber, that's where he ended up. At that place there's many different famous people that were there. Wow, after that, my wife and I came to Disney and so we were like, wow, this is like Puerto Rico, right, but in America. And so we said, wow, this is it. So I applied to Miami-Dade Metro Police and stayed FHP, and so that was.

Speaker 3:

The FHP was the first one that got me and then after, when I was in the academy, miami-dade answered. But at that point.

Speaker 2:

It was too late. You became a trooper. Those guys are statement men. They got got those big hats. You know special people and so you did that for 16 years. Yes, sir, wow, great.

Speaker 3:

And it was an awesome career, loved the career. To me as a job, it's just an amazing job. You get a lot of time to be able to communicate with society out there, while educating them about the rules of society, right, yeah, and so it's an awesome way to to touch lives and and and, at the same time, um, point towards heaven. You know, yeah, yeah, now you know this is the program ask a cop.

Speaker 2:

And we have this adage where we say it's where community and cops connect. So you still haven't even given us your name, which is is so. It's so, which is it's special because hopefully, the people listening are saying who is that? Who is that you know, and and you're actually, you're a famous guy, you know? Yeah, I, I saw the clip.

Speaker 2:

I saw the clip of you on the news, you know, and uh, your way to fame is not necessarily the way that we would choose to go and to get there, but tell us a little story about yourself as we make our way to that and and eventually, here I want to get your name and introduce you to the listeners. But but before I do that, you're in law enforcement. You're in law enforcement for many years. And, my friend, give us your name and then tell us that special day what happened. But before you do that, I want to know a little bit about your life, where you're at, do you feel like you're on top of the world? Do you feel that everything's going your way? How's your marriage, how's your family? So I want to get a kind of like a preview before we have that significant event that I know transformed your life. Your wife, us, the community will never be the same, but give us your name and then we'll take it from there.

Speaker 3:

So my name is Carlos Rosario. I became a state trooper in 2005 and I did my first two and a half years in Polk County. Then I transferred here to Miami-Dade and here in Miami-Dade, man, I had a. It was awesome, I was living my life. My kids at the time, probably one was around 17,. The other one was around 22 years old, joshua Rosario and Carlos Rosario In law enforcement. I think right, oh, now they are. Yes, they're both now law enforcement. One works for Surfside Police, the other one works with me.

Speaker 3:

But back then, when, before that day, before March 17, 2017, I had two kids. They were great kids. One was playing. They were both actually in the same school, miami Christian. One was a coach, the other one was a player. They had just won a state championship. The older one that was his third state championship as an assistant coach. My little one was about to go. The Avenger won Me and my wife at that time. We went together since 1990. We have gone through our ups and downs, but at that point, man, we are living the dream. You know where we're drunk in each other's lips.

Speaker 2:

I like that. That's a song so solemn. I love it. You're listening to Ask a Cop and I love it because you could be in law enforcement and your marriage doesn't have to be disarray. Your marriage doesn't have to be falling apart. You can serve and protect, but you could have something solid and sweet at home if you nurture the soul. Amen, amen, amen, continue. So you're on top of the world.

Speaker 3:

Things are doing great as a cop. I had not taken a state trooper sergeant's exam ever, and at that point we were so short of sergeants that they had made me an A-slash. And so I had my own group and I was helping them, and so, you know, god was honoring me. You can say right, but simultaneously. Oh, and I and I used to go to church every sunday. Wow, I was, I was going to church every sunday. So you had, you're a man of faith you have a relationship with god yes, yes, so my mom brought me into church as a little kid.

Speaker 3:

My grandfather in puerto rico is a pastor, my uncle's a pastor, my aunt's a pastor in puerto rico, um, so my wife's side of the family they also have pastors on their side. So we kind of grew up through that. But as I, as I lived my life, I still was struggling with the word. I didn't understand the word and and there was a part of my life where I didn't want to do anything with the word because I felt this condemnation like, if you know, if god is for me, then how come I feel this way? And I just didn't understand the word. So during that time, as a state trooper, on Sunday I go to church and feel great, feel on top of the world. By Thursday I felt like God was a mile away, depending on what I was thinking, depending on what I was doing. And so, you know, I just didn't understand the word and I was trying to become righteous every day and I was doing my thing, you know, and I was just struggling.

Speaker 3:

I was struggling and there was a verse that destroyed me. Every single time I would hear that verse, that verse that says something like you know, you got to be hot or cold, because if you're lukewarm, you know he'll spit you out, he'll vomit you. And so I'm like, listen, I'm trying my best all the time and I'm doing what I can for my family, but you know, on one and I'm doing what I can for my family, but you know, on one day I'm doing really good on high, but there's other days that I get cold, but most of the time I'm lukewarm. I'm really trying, I'm really trying, but you know I'm, and so it's hard man, and I didn't really understand that verse. Um so boom I I. Then I get to march 17, 2017 and I I run into, I'm doing laser speed enforcement detail. Okay.

Speaker 2:

Let me hold you right there. We got somebody on the line You're listening to Ask a Cop so far. Let me do a rewind here. We got an officer that's been in it for a long time. Things are good, his sons are good, everything's great. Hey, I'm sorry I lost that call. We were just going to get to that call. But His sons are good, everything's great. Hey, I'm sorry I lost that call. We were just going to get to that call, but 786-313-3115 if you want to call. But back to you in law enforcement, officer Rosario, if I could call you that, formerly Trooper Rosario. So everything is good.

Speaker 2:

You're struggling spiritually, though, and you know it's funny because that verse a lot of people even still don't understand that hot or cold. They're thinking I'm either on the Lord or I'm cold, and it's not saying what Jesus is saying there. You got to be defined. You know hot or cold meaning. You know it's coffee. You like it, hot or cold, depending on how you drag it Be either. Don't be undefined. You know either you're for me or not or you're against me.

Speaker 2:

It doesn't mean how your performance is. Sometimes your performances, sometimes you're for him, but, like in you, we're not. We're not there, we're running on low, we don't have a premium gas, you know. But anyway, enough of that, we want to get to you. So you're doing laser detail. You're doing a traffic um, traffic assignment, you know where. You're trying to get those people that are breaking the law and speeding. You're trying to help them to get to their house, because if they keep speeding, you know, sometimes you get stopped when you think the officer's being bad. He's trying to help you, you know. But anyway, you're doing traffic detail.

Speaker 3:

Tell us what happens so I'm in a very safe area 836 westbound on the new extension to 137 avenue, and I'm top of the bridge of 107 avenue, near the right at the route, and so there's two lanes um the vehicle that I clock. It's really really far. I can barely see him, but I see his bumper enough for me to get the speed. And so then I have to wait for him. I put the laser on top of the car and I'm waiting, I'm waiting, I'm waiting. I'm in the middle of the road so that he can see me. Eventually he sees me. I get back on the shoulder, I'm slowing him down. That person is paying attention and slowing down, but the vehicle behind it is not paying attention, and so that person is a male, he's texting and driving, and so by the time he looks up and he sees the car that I'm trying to stop, he doesn't want to rear end that car, so he swerves to the right, and so at that point I'm not sure what he was thinking, but I know that there was another traffic stop on that side somewhere where a guy named Trooper State Trooper Pierre Janio was there. So either he didn't want to hit them over there or he didn't want to hit the wall. So he overcorrected and he came back towards me. And so at that point, by the time he came back towards me, he went perfectly in front of the vehicle that I had almost to a stop. And so they said I don't remember anything but Pierre Janio that was there, and Trooper Gene Torres, who's a sergeant now, was there. And they said that I try to the vehicle and I tried to jump it and I didn't clear it, and so he took me out and I flew like a baseball, hit the back of the cruiser and I ended up falling on the floor, and so the vehicle stopped. The person stopped, um, and Pierre Janio instantly jumped on me. Um, he said I tried standing up. Um, then he uh kind of signaled over to Gene Torres to bring a raincoat. Gene Torres brought a raincoat because I was profusely bleeding through my face, and so eventually helicopters showed up, everybody showed up, fire rescue Actually I got to say this because fire rescue that showed up that I never had met him. David Gonzalez is the first one to attend me. David Gonzalez, not the Saturday. The following Saturday, at the Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers, fellowship of Christian First Responders, with George Alessandri he's going to be giving his testimony there, and so I say that to say he's the one that packaged me up Eventually. And so I say that to say he's the one that packaged me up Eventually.

Speaker 3:

The helicopter showed up and through good communication from Luis Rodriguez and the cops, the state troopers that were there, and David Gonzalez to the helicopter, I somehow didn't go to Kendall Regional. I ended up going to Jackson Rider Trauma and they took care of me. There was a team waiting for me. I was in a coma for 17 days. I broke both tibias, both femurs, one femur in two places. I fractured the left ulna. I almost lost a finger in my left hand. I almost lost two fingers in my right hand. The L1 through the L4 lumbar was damaged. The c1 neck uh fractured. My jaw was fractured, lost more than 20 bags of blood through my face. I had double vision for about a year and two months and I was and I had such a bad brain injury that, uh, that could have been a vegetable, um, but the lord showed up.

Speaker 2:

Now you're getting, you're getting ahead of everything and, by the way, yeah it, uh, if you could help him out with the headphones there, please. Joey, you know it's interesting. You're listening to Ask a Cop. It's 104.7 FM here on God's Way Radio and we have a member of the law enforcement community here today and you know, you know where community and cops connect. You know, if you, if you take your headphones and turn them around like this, they'll hold on your head, they won't keep falling down to help you out. Uh, by the way, uh, it's interesting for all practical purposes. The car never stops. You try to jump it, but the car hits you. You're, you're like a, like a for the lack of a better way. What came to my mind? It's like a baseball and the car is the bat, you know, and the car hits a home run in a sense. Did they think you were going to survive? Or I mean, you lost a lot of blood there yes, yes, no, I um.

Speaker 3:

according to doctors, um, the 700 club film this my story. They already already three times worldwide. But the doctor, uh, who's a good friend of mine, is now that I met after um, he was interviewed and he basically said that for sure, he thought that that night he didn't think out many times that he didn't think I was gonna make it that night and so for me to make it, obviously it was a big miracle. And then afterwards, as I woke up from it, um, so you know. So these injuries were so, like he said, so profound that when I started to walk in less than three months, that was another miracle and they couldn't believe it.

Speaker 3:

Doctors would come take pictures with me like if I was a star, and so again, that was another miracle. And then, before I left the hospital, another miracle that happened that it didn't hit me until I became an advocate for the National Safety Council and I met with them and I met other people that have died, that survived opiates and drugs, and they said listen, for you to leave the hospital and never to take medicine with all those injuries that you have Because I left the hospital, I don't take any medicine.

Speaker 3:

No pain I don't take no pain, nothing, nothing, unless I get a little headache, just like you guys. But that guy told me, listen, that is a miracle for you to not to take any medicine with all the injuries you still have, because I still got a rod from here to here from my waist to my knee and both legs, plates and screws down the leg. So, um, yeah, yeah, yeah. So that's all you know supernatural.

Speaker 2:

It's all him. Amazing, amazing. Hey, you're listening to Ask a Cop, our guest today, officer Rosario, and we have some text messages here this morning. I'm going to share some of the text messages with you. One of them, I believe, comes from New Hampshire, and the text message from New Hampshire says Good morning Pastor Raz, new Hampshire. And the text message from New Hampshire says good morning pastor ass. Peace be yours. Today did, did I hear? Let me see here.

Speaker 2:

we were subscribed to living Worcester Telegram and Gazette okay, go ahead, joe, you read that we were subscribers to that newspaper.

Speaker 4:

While living in leo minster, massachusetts muster what LeMessurier Wow, small world. God bless you for your many years of that newspaper. While living in leominster, massachusetts lemaster what lemaster wow, small world. God bless you for your many years of service. Offers a rosario, whether in new england or florida thank you.

Speaker 3:

Thank you, jesus lives. It's awesome to hear somebody from new england. God bless you guys. Yes, that was, that was worcester. Telegram gazette is in worcester, massachusetts. Um, yeah, and they still, they still, uh, they're still alive. They're still putting out papers on a daily basis. Excellent.

Speaker 2:

Excellent. So here for for the officer that's listening, the officer that's listening that's thinking man, my life is rough, I don't think I could get through this. I don't think I could get through this mountain. And maybe, maybe somebody's in the hospital, Maybe somebody's recovering.

Speaker 2:

I know that a while back ago, Joey's also a chaplain with the city of Miami Police Department and we had the officer that they try to run it down. I don't know if you remember Joey, you know and I'm sure she's still dealing with with the aftermath of something like that. So where I want to go with you right now is OK, so you actually get out of the hospital, so you actually get out of the hospital. How long were you in the hospital, I wanted to know. And then the therapy. What do they call that Physical therapy that you have to go through in the hospital? And then, when you get out of the hospital, how long is the therapy? The caregiver, your wife, who's also a warrior, she's a gladiator for Jesus, I mean, somebody doesn't go through what you went through and survive and have sanity of mind without an incredible amount of love and strong love. I'm sure that at times she probably became the sergeant.

Speaker 3:

Yes, yes, yes.

Speaker 2:

But tell us a little bit about that. So the question would be how did you make it in the hospital to go through the impossible the pain Maybe you don't want to do it hospital to to go through the impossible the pain? You maybe you don't want to do it, or or are you like a superhero where you just wanted to do it every day and you never had a bad day of not wanting to do therapy?

Speaker 3:

give us some information there so, yeah, it was definitely, it was tough. It was tough, obviously. Um, you wake up, you, you know you can't do a thing. You know I'm, you're, disabled. You need your nurses at first, other ones that clean, clean you. And so my wife, by the grace of God, had the strength and the wisdom that God gave her when she was there to do everything that the nurses did, so they didn't have to really do anything. My wife would take care of me, clean me. At first, she needed help with my dad to flip me over and stuff like that, but once he left, then it was all her, and so, yeah, therapy was every day. I started at Jackson Rider Trauma and it was rough. It was tough. There were some things that were very painful and so, yes, by the grace of God, I was every single day in the Word because I was listening to podcasts or music, and when I was in the bed I would listen to sermons and I would also bring in people to give me the Word Jaime Rodriguez and Cesar Cabrera.

Speaker 2:

But also now I go to therapy and still I'm dealing with this In case anybody just tuned in, we're talking to Officer Rosario, who's been a trooper a state trooper for many years. Now he's in another agency and he survived a high-speed impact on 836 westbound in 2017, I think, no, I'm sorry, 17. Yeah, 2017. And wow, five years ago. Time flies and you're looking so good man. It's like nobody would say that you were messed up, but you survived and we're getting to know the miracle of that, how God still heals people today. So you have both legs fractured, you have arm, you have a hand, both hands, you have your face wound. You lose your neck. Also, you lose 20 bags of blood they have to put on you. And so we're getting the information of, like, how do you get through the therapy? Okay, survive is just the beginning, but that's just the beginning. What was the word Monumental? To survive, to not die? That's monumental, yes, but now the party gets started and it's no fun, you know, now the war begins.

Speaker 2:

I got a text message here. It says uh, from west miami says thank you for your service. Did you ever blame the driver? Is a question. So, um, uh, if you did, did you find that you needed to forgive the driver? So two questions from one of our listeners. Did you ever blame the drivers? You're having those tough days pain. I'm sure that while you're in the hospital they're giving you medication. You don't have a lot of choice there. Did you ever blame the driver? And then, if you did, did you come to a point where you could forgive the driver? You got the mic.

Speaker 3:

No, I never blamed the driver. I forgave him right away. I actually helped him. I forgave him. He didn't see a day in jail. You know, I think he got arrested when I was still possibly in a coma, but you know, after that, when he had, he could have been doing time for sure. I forgave him and we helped him. We helped him. He got like five years probation. He got three years of suspended license but still can get a permit to go to work, and he had to do some community hours. So I actually approached him that day of court and the one thing I did ask from him was oh, he also wrote me an apology letter On that day. I asked him hey, the one thing I would love for you to do with me is to go to society and talk to people about texting and driving, because that's worse than DUI now and he said, yeah, but unfortunately it never panned out.

Speaker 3:

It's OK, you know, I still do my thing and it's all good, but no, it's okay, you know, I still do my thing and uh, it's all good, but uh, no, I, I don't even think about the guy. I mean I pray for him. When I think about him, like right now, you know, I pray. He got a revelation of jesus. He's doing good, he's doing awesome. Other than that, you know, no, I, um, I'm sure that, uh, like, like everything else, right, if you receive good, I'm sure he's passing it on in jesus name you know it's interesting because sometimes uh, you know it's it's difficult to forgive Law enforcement attorneys.

Speaker 2:

We think white or black, no gray matter, you're good or you're bad, but yet for your survival you have to come to a point where you're saying you know what good or bad that's secondary, I'm going to forgive the guy, I'm moving on and how that's been therapeutic and helpful for you, hopefully for him too. I don't know if you want to say anything about that. The need for a law enforcement officer to learn to forgive and the spouse of a law enforcement to learn to forgive how important is that officer?

Speaker 3:

That's a powerful question. It's hard for a lot of people to understand because it takes a revelation of the Lord for you to understand it. So I pray right now that you get this through the revelation of Jesus, that it's not through your will and your strength that you get there, but my Heavenly Father gives it to you, just like he gave it to Peter. And yes, if you don't forgive, you can get sick. If you don't forgive, there'll be a stronghold on you for the rest of your life and you receive Jesus. Listen, I believe this is Carlos Rosario, believing. I believe you're saved, but while you live, you're going to have a destroyed life. Things are going to happen that you're going to be like why are these things happening? And the root is going to be it's because you're not forgiven, Because it's through that stronghold that blessings are not coming in.

Speaker 2:

You know, I like the thought, the way that somebody put it. I hope I don't mess this up. You know, when you don't forgive, it's like you trying to kill someone and you're drinking the poison. You're trying to kill someone, but you're drinking the poison. And when you don't forgive. You're thinking that you're holding that person, but you're drinking the poison. It's killing you.

Speaker 2:

We got a text message here we got a phone call. Let's go to his phone call first. So he got the phone call on hold. It says here I got a text message that says make sure you get that guy's autograph. He is a living legend. Jesus lives.

Speaker 3:

Let's go. Love you, andrew, love you, andrew Mesa. Shout out to Andrew Mesa man, listen, love my boy, Andrew man. He's inspired me, he's inspired many out there in the law enforcement community. Thank you for your boldness, because through your boldness, man, we receive your boldness through Christ Jesus. Thank you, my brother.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you know that guy he's so special, you know, because you don't have to be like the top dog. You don't have to be the top cop, but yet he's got his ministry feel and he's effective. How has he helped you in your survival and your healing and your going forward?

Speaker 3:

Well, he was one of the few with George Alessandri that when I was still in bed, waking up out of my coma, that showed up to my bed and then after that we became friends and many times he's like listen, anything you want to do for the Lord, let me know. I got you, I want to be part of it. And so he's always been like that and he's also a great example to be a father, how he is taking care of his family, making sure that's first, and he understands that first God and then family and man. He's a great example to many cops out there.

Speaker 2:

So I like this For you listening. This is where community and cops connect, and it's good to see that cops, they're not just guys that you know get bad guys or give speeding tickets. No, cops are fathers, cops are friends. Cops are victims, sometimes of irresponsible behavior in our community, and they have to pay a price.

Speaker 3:

I want to jump in and say listen, the first question I asked the state attorney. Then, when they came up to me to see what I want to do with this case, I wanted to know how old was he? Wow, and he was 20, like my oldest kid. And I'm like, oh man, hold on. And what kind of kid is he right? And so I'm? No, no, this guy was working. He just went home and he just happened to make that mistake, and so I was like, look, we got to help this kid, because I know what a prison can do to somebody and change somebody's life. He can't do time, because if he goes it's going to completely change him. And so me and my wife saw this kid, Hugo, as our son, and so this is why we figured you know I pray that we listening.

Speaker 2:

Here today we're praying for this individual. We can mention his name, but you don't have to know the name. You can just pray for him and maybe he's listening and I hope that he realizes that God is still seeking him out. And I hope that he'll turn around and he will go do those communication opportunities with people about the dangers of texting and driving.

Speaker 2:

Hey, we've got somebody on the call. This is Ask a Cop. Good morning, you're listening, and what area of town are you calling from? This is Pembroke. Good to have Pembroke. What would you like to say? Go ahead.

Speaker 5:

I just want to tell the officer that I remember that story on the news and it tore my heart in half. I prayed for him so much with everybody, and know that. That's not what I'm telling you, that. It's just that I'm telling you that because I was. I was scared my sons are officers and I was going like god, this is not going to happen to my kids. This won't happen to my kids. You won't let not going to happen to my kids. This won't happen to my kids. You won't let something like this happen to my kids.

Speaker 5:

So that was my motive for the prayer. I mean, of course, I always pray for healing and things like that. And now I see that you know God, whatever happens, he's got it in control, he's working, he's doing something. Because look at what a powerful message you have now. If you were just writing tickets and stopping people and talking to, but no, now you have the whole world. You're telling the whole world about the Lord. So, god, we can't. I'm just saying that God, we can't put him in a box and we can't. He doesn't follow our instructions and my prayers. You know what I mean, but I'm just so thankful for this. This, um, uh, show a program that this message can go out and see the miracle that's going on here, that God's doing. It's so powerful.

Speaker 2:

And I thank you so much. Thank you so much, Member Pines.

Speaker 3:

Thank you. Thank you. God bless you, ma'am. It's an honor. Thank you for your prayers. I'm praying for your sons, and the blood of Jesus covers them. Oppression is far from them. Terror will not come near them and no weapon formed against them will prosper. In Jesus' name, thank you.

Speaker 2:

Thank you, hey this is Ask a Cop. You can call, you can text 786-313-3115. Our guest today Carlos Rosario, former trooper with FHP, florida Highway Patrol, former long life of law enforcement, still serving the community, serving agencies, and great to have you this morning. We have a text message here that says great words of wisdom from Carlos Rosario. Question what can you share with new officers on how to be successful daily as a police officer? So, as Officer Carlos Rosario thinks about that answer, I want to share with you that, as a law enforcement, if you're listening, no matter where you're at, there's help for you. Confidentiality is of the most Policethankyoucom. You can check it out and first Tuesday of every month here, god's Way Radio, ask a Cop, and we also have a podcast. You could go to whatever podcast provider you utilize. Look for Ask a Cop and you'll have many programs there.

Speaker 2:

Officer Rosario, back to you. You're a husband, you're a father. What would you say to new police officers? You know how that is. You get out of training, school, ble. You're going to change the world. You got all this power here. How can you stay the straight and narrow, how can you become effective and not let the ugliness of the job taint your heart and soul?

Speaker 3:

Yeah. So if you're not a believer, I would say to you become a believer, receive Jesus. That's the first thing. But if you stay not believing, then I would tell you, grab on to the oath that you made on that first day and read that every single day and hold on to that, because you did that with pride, you did that with love. Hold on to that, read that every day and let me tell you, all those things that are there, they come from the Bible. All that goodness is there in that oath comes from the Word. So just understand that. That is for you. Hold on to that. Don't let nobody influence you. But now, if you're a believer and you believe in God and you believe in Jesus, right, I would tell you every single day you have to surrender. You have to surrender your understanding. It's not about you.

Speaker 3:

It's all about him, completely surrender to the Lord's understanding. And when you do and you allow him to work through you, you're going to be that vessel that you swore into on the first day. You're going to be the fruit of him. When people see you, they're going to feel your light, god's light, through you. They're going to feel God's love through you. And just you got to behold that every single day. Now, how do you do that? Well, by allowing him to lead you to the word. And as you see the glory of the Lord in the word on this every single day basis, the more you see it he's transforming you to the image of Christ and the more you see it he's transforming you to the image of Christ. And as he transforms you to the image of Christ, you're bearing fruit to the Lord and you are a great cop. Everybody wants to be around you. They want to learn from you. Why? Because they feel the love and they feel the light from our Heavenly Father through you. Good words.

Speaker 2:

Thank you for that. Thank you for that. We got somebody on the phone. Hey, good morning. Ask a cop, you're on the line. What area of town are you calling from?

Speaker 6:

Sweetwater and Doral.

Speaker 2:

All right, Sweetwater Doral, Go ahead. What do you want to say?

Speaker 6:

First of all, I never call in the morning. I always call in the afternoon because sometimes I'm working. But today I got to call in because I want you guys. First of all, I want to thank those police officers out there. You know he's talking what he's talking, guys. It ain't no joke bro, it's the real deal, jesus deny yourself. Pick up the cross and follow me.

Speaker 6:

You know, and thank you, man. You guys are doing an awesome job. I'm hearing the news of police officers getting shot on the line of duty and you know they got family to take care of.

Speaker 6:

you know children to go home and maybe one day they won't be able to go home, you know. But we pray, we continue to pray, we continue to. You see a police officer at a mall, at a Dunkin' Donuts, shake his hands and say thank you, bro, thank you, thank you for the service you guys are doing, bro, risking your life Because I was one of the guys that they call Candela you know if you ever heard that word.

Speaker 2:

That means fire. For those of you that don't know Spanish, yeah, my.

Speaker 6:

Candela, he was fire, I don't know canines after me and you know what. After that, the Lord spoke to me and here I am bro, here I am, and then they see me now, sweetwater sees me now and I go, bro, now you made it easier for us, yeah you're right, you're right, I did, bro. Thank you bro, thank you, you know, we don't have to run after you, no more.

Speaker 2:

Thank you and I go.

Speaker 6:

I understand, bro. We don't have to run after you, no more.

Speaker 2:

Thank you. I understand bro. Thank you, Thank you.

Speaker 6:

Thank you Just quick. I'll end it with this. I got a nephew of mine that lives in St Petersburg. You know the house I was staying in was my sister's house. He's in the hospital. He had some I don't know. He was out of lack of breathing and shaking Last night. I had to take him to the hospital. You know his name is Richard. He did go to Calvary Chapel one day with me. There was a guest speaker and he was there and the Lord spoke to him. He accepted Christ. But we don't know the issue. We leave it on God.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, sometimes you just have to leave it to the Lord and we're going to pray for Richard. I want to thank you so much for your call and anything else you want to say before you go, because I got other people holding and waiting.

Speaker 6:

All I want to say is para el Señor sea la gloria.

Speaker 3:

Amen.

Speaker 6:

Para él. Sea su bendición. Invito sea su nombre, amen.

Speaker 2:

God bless you, sir. Thank you so much. Thank you, hey. We have a text message here. It says shout out to my brother-in-law let's go. Jesus lives.

Speaker 3:

Amen, god bless you.

Speaker 2:

Then we have another text message. It says hi, my name is Charlene and I'm Carlo's sister. I just wanted to come and tell him how proud I am of him for listening to God and doing what he says. I'm so blessed to see how his testimony has touched so many people and how God has been able to glorify himself through my brother's accident. Joel, you are such an inspiration to many, but to me especially. I've always looked up to you as a little girl because of your character, integrity and perseverance. I'm blessed and so proud to be your sister. I'm so grateful to God for having you in my life. Continue shining your light, love you.

Speaker 3:

Love you too, Charlie.

Speaker 2:

A love heart emoji.

Speaker 3:

Love you, Charlie. God bless you.

Speaker 2:

Okay, and I got another text message here. I'm so thankful. It says good morning my family in Christ. I'm so thankful and grateful to the Lord on connecting me with Carlos when I needed hope and faith the most. Carlos, continue to share God's goodness and faithfulness.

Speaker 3:

Ah, lt buddy, let's go Jesus, love you, my bro, I love it. Lt that's our guy man. I love LT too. He's special. He's on fire for the Lord. Let's go.

Speaker 2:

Good, good, good, love you. So back to you, officer Rosario. What would you say to that officer that maybe you know, life is funny. We make wrong choices, you know, and job, job, work, work, people, people. But sometimes, man, my son, my daughter, sometimes my dad, my mom, I've abandoned them. And now I realize it. And, man, I got all these years investing in the wrong. Officer Rosario, is there any hope? Can I turn that around? What would God speak through you to that law enforcement officer that now they realize, man, I've given so much of myself to the department, to the community, but man, my own blood doesn't understand. My wife, my husband, my dad, my mom, my son, my daughter, my family, they don't understand, they don't get it. What would you say to them?

Speaker 3:

First the same thing if you're a believer, surrender to the Lord. If you're not a believer, go get help so that they can guide you in a correct way, so that you can get the correct counseling, because there is always hope, there is always a way. Listen, as long as you're breathing, there is always hope, there is always a way. Listen as long as you're breathing, there's hope. There's always a way. Our Heavenly Father has ordained that you come out of whatever hole, whatever mess you're in.

Speaker 3:

The best way I like to describe it is if you're in a hole and the devil's throwing rocks at you and it hurts you because you're in that hole, you're in that ditch and you might get out of that hole, but it's going to take time and it's going to be hard for you to get out of it and it's going to be painful and it's going to be slow.

Speaker 3:

But if you go towards help and obviously counseling even though you don't see counseling as God, but the goodness of counseling comes from God and so as you look towards help, which is the goodness of God, look directly to God or counseling there, you that help now it's gonna transform everything. Those rocks that the devil's throwing at you, god will use it as a stepping stone for you to climb out of it. You get out of your pain, out of your discomfort, out of that bad relationship what? Out of that hole that you're in, and you'll be living life the way God has intended it for you. So if it's a broken relationship, relationship restored. If it's bad favor at work, you got favor at work. If it's lack of health, health is coming. If it's lacking life, well, he's continuing presently supplying everything you need.

Speaker 2:

I like your words because what you're saying is if you're in the hole, get help. Don't try to do it by yourself. And let me say something If you that are listening you're not listening by accident God is throwing a lifeline at you right now through the program Ask a Cop, through the words of Officer Rosario. I want to get back to you so that you walk us out of the situation that you were in.

Speaker 2:

You know, because we kind of left you in therapy, we kind of left you in the hospital, but obviously you came out, you came out, but I think our chaplain here he's got a question for us. Joey Alcalis, here with us in the controls. Thank you for coming to work today. Thank you for helping us. What do you want to say?

Speaker 4:

It's a good day. Yes, sir, yes, sir, yes, sir. Uh, well, let's go, let's, let's finish the story, let's finish the story, and then I can ask my question.

Speaker 3:

All right, so I'm in therapy and basically listen, if it wasn't because of the love of god that I felt through my wife, who was there with me, never left me, she was always there with me, didn't even go home thank thanks to the florida highway patrol and jackson rider trauma, who gave us an apartment so that she can stay there and she go there, shower and come back and stay with me in the room. Um, and the love of family and friends and the law enforcement community, first responders and the community people I didn't even know, with all the gifts and everything they were sending that love helped me, it transformed me, it strengthened me every single day to be able to do my therapy like nothing. And so my first question was to the doctor am I going to be able to make it back to work? And he's like oh, you know, I'm not sure.

Speaker 3:

I didn't really think so, but by the grace of God, with the love that I was receiving through my family, the community, the law enforcement community and everybody else, that I was feeling that was coming directly from God, from that's the strength that gave me to go forward, and I have not lost that.

Speaker 3:

I have not lost that, by the grace of God, because I could lose it, but, by the grace of God, it's what it's pushed me and pushed me and pushes me till today. Now I want to make sure, if I have not said it, I'm just like any other person. I'm broken. I'm broken every single day. I understand no goodness, no good thing dwells in me, but because I understand the love of God that he has for me, that he sent through Christ Jesus, and that I see through people, through the community, through gifts of Tom Brady, miami Heat, cleveland Cavaliers, yvonne Rodriguez, many gifts, donations, ken Sadowski, many things from different, many people in this world that I didn't know and that I feel their love on a daily basis. Still, it's what drives me, and so I just want you to know, if you're out out there, that God has the same love for you.

Speaker 2:

Amen.

Speaker 3:

And he wants to love you. You just got to see how he's loving you right now and if you open up to his love, I guarantee you it's going to transform your life and it's going to give you the same energy that I got right now.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, one of the things I appreciate about what you're saying. By the way, you're listening to Ask a Cop every first Tuesday of the month, 104.7 FM God's Way Radio, where community and cops connect the radio station for law enforcement. If you're blue God's Way Radio, that's for you. Hey, listen back to you, carlos Rosario, our officer guest here today in the studio. Here's one of the things I'm getting from what you're saying that no matter how down you are, no matter what life throws your way, no matter how bad life beats you up here, you have both legs broken, your arms, your fingers, your face. You know, in a sense, your job opportunity goes because it's a lot about human performance and stamina and that's gone. But what you're saying is you could get through all of that because you were able to see the love that was coming your way. You received it and you responded to it, so you could have all the love coming your way. But if you keep your eyes closed, you're making it difficult Maybe impossible.

Speaker 3:

You're in the way.

Speaker 2:

So a question would be okay, officer how did you have the wisdom to open your eyes, to open your heart, to see that love, to see that love of your wife that you said, man, she never left your side, to see people in the community coming at you, to see people of God? You know, you said you had pastors coming at you and giving you the word, to see the word being spoken to you, the importance of God, the importance of the word of God, the Bible. How did you have that choice to do?

Speaker 3:

that Amen. So I kind of knew of the word already, but me getting almost killed punched me in the heart. How did this happen to me? How is it to me, a guy that I call myself good right, people call me good I had cops come to my bed saying I can't believe this happened to you, like, if anything, this shouldn't have never happened to you. You're a good guy. And so saying this should have happened to me, they're dead telling me and I'm like.

Speaker 3:

So that punched me spiritually in the heart and so I had to go out of my way now to find out what did I not know about the word. Find out. What did I not know about the word, what am I not understanding of the word that brought me to this point? Because this didn't come from God. The devil came to kill, steal and destroy. So this is what brought me to. I need to now become the cop that I am through the word now to find out the truth, so that the truth may set me free and find out what's happening in my life. And so, yes, that right there, that accident is what brought me to that I got into the Word for the next. I'm still doing it today. I'm like an investor. I love the Word. I'm always constantly in the Word because I know that when every single time I get a revelation of Jesus, good comes, blessings come, favor comes, you know. But it's not because I need to do those things to be blessed. No, I'm already blessed.

Speaker 3:

But, that being said, I did not understand the true word of righteousness and so and everybody's hearing this is what God woke me up to the word of righteousness. Many people in the world, including me back then, including the most important people that I listened to, that were influencing me spiritually, were still like a babe in the word of righteousness, righteousness. And so I understood now, after I woke up after that, and I kept being in the word, and the more I learned it, the more I had to find it, to see if it was true. And this is a gift, this, this is a gift through christ jesus, we receive, and so it's not about you doing, it's all about you receiving and living. Let the Holy Spirit lead through you now. But if you make it about you again and you get in the way which, it goes all the way back to Adam, that they had self-righteousness, and then you see it with Cain with his fruit, with his harvest that he tried to give instead of giving the lamb self-righteousness. And you go to many stories in the bible and it's talking about self-righteousness. When you go to the tower of babel, it's about self-righteousness and the whole bible is all about self-righteousness.

Speaker 3:

The men don't understand that including me back then that if you get in the way you're messing it up. You can't function not one thing in this world without the grace of God and it's by that grace of God that you can function. So your righteousness comes from him. And so I didn't understand that. And when I woke up to that, it changed my life, because I understand now on a daily basis. It's not about me, it's not about his love, that he sent me through Jesus. And if I can just stay looking at that and pick up that cross every day and deny myself on a daily basis, I'm going to be okay, because I understand that I'm going to still be broken while I'm in this world, while I have this body, until the rapture comes right. But listen, it's going to be okay.

Speaker 3:

We might get in through some difficulties, but many are the good days, many are the days of heaven. Right, because I do understand we could have that bad day, but it's singular. That's why it says on the D-Day you put the armor of God. Singular, but there'll be many good days. Why? Because the Lord already ordained it like that. So that is what happened with me. It was me getting destroyed. So that is what happened with me. It was me getting destroyed and not understanding how does a believer get destroyed? And I always had these thoughts and questions when I was a kid, that how come Christians are dying early, are suffering early and poor? And to me it was lack of revelation. So, yes, the wisdom came by me, seeking Jesus and only Jesus. And when I hear a sermon, I make sure it doesn't make me self-conscious, I make sure it keeps me Jesus-conscious, because that is the true gospel Staying Jesus-conscious. Because when you're Jesus-conscious, it's not about me and I'm not getting in the way, and it's all about him.

Speaker 2:

And now, as I'm seeing him, I'm being transformed to his image and I'm walking out what I need to walk out, you know it's so wonderful to hear you say this message that you're bringing forth now, because right now, the world is at a crossroad, you know and some might say it's even gone beyond that because people are trying to be good, they're trying to do good, but it's based on themselves. You know, self-righteousness. I got positivity, I can do this, but what I'm hearing from you, officer Rosario, is that through your tragedy, through the trauma, through the therapy, you've come to a place where you're getting in God's word and the revelation that God has given you is that this is the way that Jesus put it Without me, you can do nothing.

Speaker 3:

Jesus lives. Let's go. You can't do nothing you know.

Speaker 2:

And so, man, I'm so glad I woke up this morning and I'm here today to get slapped about my face again and be reminded Metaphorically and be reminded Metaphorically, metaphorically. And be reminded. I need the righteousness of God that comes through faith and through. Jesus.

Speaker 5:

We need.

Speaker 2:

Jesus, you're listening to Ask a Cop here at God's Way Radio Somebody texted us. You could text us 786-313-3115. You can call us. We've got a phone call coming in, but let me read this text first. It says wow, what a great story but, most important, what a great man. I'm pleased and honored in knowing that we have a law enforcement officer like Carlos Rosario. Know that your brothers at Sweetwater PD stand with you and by you. God bless you. I'm glad Sweetwater checked in Rosario you got the mic.

Speaker 7:

God bless you guys. Amen. I give god uh thanks every day for your life. I thank you so much for sharing your message and continue to share your message. And pastor, as and joey and thank you, sir and adrian, thank you for for doing this.

Speaker 7:

uh, thank you serving the blue, the blue Family. We desperately need this and we desperately need Jesus, amen. But you know hearing Carlos' story, as you've heard, he says Jesus lives a lot and he shared that story with me and I was hoping that he could share the story with everyone. That's why he says that all the time. Good.

Speaker 2:

This is very helpful. Thank you, see, that. See, that's you. That's why we needed you to listen and we needed you to call in, and one of these days we got to have you here and and highlight fcpo, the jesus, the god working through fcpo and through you uh, any, any closing statements?

Speaker 7:

that's an official invitation amen, yeah, no, no, now I'm done. I have to do it amen, hey, no more.

Speaker 2:

No more. I don't want to say excuses, but no more reasoning like like man, the work, the schedule pa' fuera. Now, what a weird reason. I have a job.

Speaker 4:

I go to work, no more excuses.

Speaker 2:

Any closing statements, sir? For me, yes. Any closing statements.

Speaker 7:

Oh no Again. Thank you so much, and again for the law enforcement officers that are out there, just be encouraged. I know that you walk into darkness and you're always called into darkness, but know that hope of Jesus Christ will get you through that darkness. Amen. Don't lean on yourself, lean on him and reach out to a brother or sister that you can trust in those dark times, because we are here for you, we love you, and just don't walk out that darkness. It only lent and ended destruction thank you, thank you uh why don't?

Speaker 2:

you direct them any? Any officers listening right now that maybe they don't get police. Thank youcom, maybe they don't get. Ask a cop. How are you there to help our brothers and sisters in blue? How can they connect with you?

Speaker 7:

so right now, we uh, we meet every month. Like car mentioned earlier, on the 16th we're going to have a meeting where David Gonzalez is going to be sharing his testimony with Carlos. So come out, you're going to be amongst first responders. Officers have been through it all. I mean, we've been through it all and we can connect and we can help you walk out scripture, and I also, as a peer team member. If right now you're listening, you're like, hey, I don't know that. I'm totally into that. It's okay, listen, get some help. We're here for you, yeah, uh, know that you're loved, know that you deserve to have a good life and um, and so we're here for you and and I gotta remind them on your words, we don't handcuff anybody.

Speaker 2:

It's just the love of god that's gonna hold you so so you, you come in, you walk out, but we're gonna get you hey thank you so much, my brother, god bless you all right, god bless you I got a text message I gotta.

Speaker 4:

Let me read through some of the short ones real quick. I love the testimony jesus fingerprint. Uh, wow, today's episode of ask a cop so inspirational.

Speaker 2:

God bless you, thank you, and then we have two I got very special ones I gotta read this one, which is the, the, the captain in the house. Give me chief. Give me the chief in the house. Okay, here we go. Hello, this is Carlos' wife. I'm so thankful and grateful for God's love that he poured in me to help my husband and be by his side. It was his grace, his love, his peace, his joy, etc. It was not anything that I did, but what he did in me to pour that love to my husband. For all the listeners when you have Jesus in you, Holy Spirit, no matter what you're going through, he will walk you through it all. Thank you to all that prayed for us was your prayer that it was your prayer that lifted us and gave us all the strength.

Speaker 4:

We love you all. That's, chief rosario, back home. Let's go, and we got another one go ahead. Love you, dad. Proud of you listening from work when I can, the story always brings back so many memories. Thankful to have you here today.

Speaker 3:

Love josh love you, love you, buddy, love you, my delicious.

Speaker 2:

So community and cops connect here at Ask a Cop. It shows you that police officers, yes, they got the blue, the uniform, the gun, the badge, but they're human beings, that they are part of our community and you know what. We need them desperately. Don't ever let any mumbo, jumjumbo, wake or sleep, come in between God's ordained law enforcement officers. Joey, you had a question. We have Chaplain Joey here. Carlos, thank you for being part.

Speaker 4:

We're not letting you go yet. We still have a few minutes. But, joey, you got it. Well, you wanted to cut in something that was being said yeah, yeah, so real quick, george, yes, jesus lives.

Speaker 3:

Said yeah, yeah. So real quick, uh, george. Uh, yes, jesus lives. Um, god didn't. The reason I say jesus lives every single day, it's not because god raised jesus from the dead because he's god. He's not. He didn't raise him from the dead because he's the most powerful. He didn't raise him from the dead because he's the best. He raised him from the dead because he justified you and I after he justified you and I. It's why he raised him from the dead. So when I say Jesus lives, it's like saying he's my receipt, I'm justified. So when I scream Jesus lives, it's saying I'm justified, I'm righteous, the righteousness that I have, it's God's righteousness himself upon me. So if I go to judgment right now, I don't worry about a thing. Why? Because the one sitting on the throne is my righteousness. As he is sitting on the throne, so am I. So that's how clear, how perfect I'm already in his eyes. That's why I say Jesus lives, because that is my receipt. Amen.

Speaker 2:

You know, and I got to highlight that because you know someone could say the badge, your badge of honor, not just that you've been sworn in, but, man, I went through this accident, I survived. You know, I've been on uh club 700 club, I've been here, I've been there. I like what you're saying and paul said it man, it's the righteousness of god that comes through faith, trusting in god. So positivity, you, you don't need that, you know, you, you, you, you got jesus, you got the positive presence of god that, no matter what you go through, god will see you through it. And I like what your wife said. You know, here, your wife, it's like you guys are like Batman and Robin, kind of like a conversation.

Speaker 2:

You guys are a two-man team where you're giving glory to God, because she could easily say, yeah, I'm the wife, I love my husband, but she's saying Jesus gave me the opportunity to love my husband through it. So for you, the listener, hey, jesus, the same Jesus that worked in the Rosario family. They're here to showcase that, that Jesus wants to work in you, whatever you're going through. Hey, I got another text message here, joey why don't you read that please?

Speaker 4:

The few times I've run into Carlos, he always seems to have a great joy about him. Just want to say thank you to Carlos for keeping his eyes on the lord and being a blessing to all he comes in contact with blessings. Man, god bless you. So I wanted to ask you you you said it like a little side comment, but it's not a little side comment. There's something exciting, something new. You're, you're leading what?

Speaker 3:

yes, jesus lives. So george alexandri, who just called George, has been a big, powerful presence in my life. He spoke into me about spreading the good news first, and so I said, wow, okay, I eventually did it with him, first at Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers. Then he asked me to go pray for somebody. I never prayed for anybody in my life at Jackson Rider Trauma, and somebody woke up from a coma because George spoke that into my life and I was led by the Spirit. Yes, I was led by the Spirit to go do it, but if somebody didn't speak that into my life, I wouldn't do it. So I was George Alexandre. And then George speaks into my life and says listen, god's telling me that you should maybe open up a church. You should pray about it. I think that you should do it Well. Church, you should pray about it. I think that you should do it Well because George Alexandre again spoken to my life. Listen, love and light of Miami is a thing. It's happening. We're meeting every Sunday at the same location where George Alexandre is at with the FCPO. We just did our 11th week. It's powerful.

Speaker 3:

I want to say real quick, I'm not sure if this is the first time, but three cops are leading this. Our church is three cops Me, leo Sanchez, from City of Miami, police officer, and Richie Rodriguez, detective from Miami Beach. We're leading this, again, not because we're perfect no, no, we understand we're not perfect but it's because Christ Jesus leads us, and so now we're impacting communities with the love of God so that they also can be okay, whoever comes. So if you're a first responder, if you're a cop, you're looking for a church where you want to be with other cops. They are doing it too, and this is not just for cops. You're in the community. You want to come here. This is our place. Love and Light of Miami. We got videos already out there Love and Light of Miami on YouTube. God bless you guys.

Speaker 2:
