Speaker 1:

Welcome to Uncluttered and Unfiltered, the podcast urging you to let it go and don't look back with nationally acclaimed professional organizer Christine Stone and self-proclaimed hot damn mess radio and TV personality Eden Kindle.

Speaker 2:

Welcome everybody to a very bonus-y bonus episode of the show. After the show Christine and I are recording this just on the fly because we don't have a recording this week. Everybody is off for Thanksgiving and we wanted to make sure we had an opportunity to talk about this one particular episode of the Golden Bachelor. But before we do that, we're going into Thanksgiving and we want to make sure everybody understands how much we are grateful to all of your support for being a part of Uncluttered and Unfiltered in our little community. Would you agree?

Speaker 3:

Yes, absolutely, it's been fascinating. And I like I always say, I love reading everybody's comments and suggestions, so I totally agree with that.

Speaker 2:

We are just really grateful for that. One thing I wanted to talk about and, christine, I'm kind of throwing you a curveball here, but I want to do it just because it's something you never talk about but I was at a luncheon the other day and I met a lovely woman named Maxine and she is with the Salzbacher Center for the Homeless here in Jacksonville, florida, and I knew her name and I had met her one other time and I brought you up to her and she said, oh my gosh, and now I did know this in the back of my mind, I knew this but I kind of not forgotten about it, but I just hadn't thought about it in a while. She said first of all, let me tell you about this woman and her family. She said she throws our party, our holiday party, at her own expense and does all the work for our teens. And I guess you're just starting to get that planned right now for this coming year. So you do that.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and then she talked about how you get that family up and out the door on Christmas morning and you guys go to the homeless shelter and spend time with those families on Christmas every year.

Speaker 3:

Well, we started out by doing that when the kids were very young, so we've been volunteering at the homeless shelter for quite oh, I would say wow probably over 15 years. So, that's so sweet, though, that she said that, yes, we have been working together for a very, very long time. She's like part of our family now.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, she was talking about that. She was talking about your daughter's wedding and just how beautiful the family is. And I said you don't have to tell me, I agree with you. It's just nice to meet other people in the community that have the one-on-one experience with you and what you guys do in our community here locally in Florida, and the way I just I kind of just wanted everybody to know, like there have been many times that we have talked about how volunteering can be a great first step towards finding peace and happiness in your own life, and you walk the walk and I just kind of wanted everybody to hear about that. So, anyway, I love talking to Maxine.

Speaker 3:

Well, especially during this time of year, it is so important if you're feeling down, if you're feeling useless, if you're feeling lonely, the best thing you can do is go and volunteer, because immediately, with your children, on your own, with your spouse, it just changes and shifts how you look at things when you see people who are less fortunate than you, who really, really appreciate what you are doing for them. So I highly recommend, especially during the holidays, to really change and shift the way you think and go help other people who are less fortunate.

Speaker 2:

Okay, well, well said, Well said. Let's go directly from something valuable to something that's, I mean, bottom-feeding Dreck, which I mean I say it all the time, but I'm a hypocrite because I'm completely sucked into the Golden Bachelor. So last night was the Fantasy Suites episode. There's only one episode left, and that's the one where Gary, our Golden Bachelor, is going to be choosing between Leslie and Teresa. So you're dying, huh.

Speaker 3:

I am dying here. I first of all. He's telling two women he's in love with them. Neither one of them he looks I'm not buying it. I'm not buying it. I agree, Neither one of them. I'm just I'm sorry and he may end up picking one, but it's not going to last. There isn't the connection I'm seeing with either one of these women and they're both going to be very hurt when it doesn't work out, and I think they're both very invested in him. I just don't see it reciprocated.

Speaker 2:

I'm not so sure Leslie is as invested as Teresa is, but at the same time I know that she's more invested than Gary is in her. My husband watched for the first time with me last night and he said he turns to me and he said he does not appear genuine to me.

Speaker 3:

I'm like yes, thank you. Yes, I learned. Did you learn a lot about Gary last night? I learned so much more about his alliance tattoo. That is humongous. He now is going for the total. Don Johnson, I know I'm throwing it back, way back with the stubble. Yep, pretty thick, you know? I, I don't know. And and okay, now we're going to get to the nitty-gritty. She has to go rappel down a mountain in Costa Rica that is slippery and wet. She hates heights, is worried about falling. It's like he's testing her. But him and Teresa get to go on a little slow, quiet horseback riding thing.

Speaker 2:

Well unfair. Why does he keep saying how adventurous Leslie is and then in her interviews she keeps saying how she's scared. She doesn't like this kind of thing. She doesn't like being out of her comfort zone. She does not claim to be an adventurer. He keeps saying he doesn't know her at all and wait a minute. He didn't even know what Teresa did for a living Right.

Speaker 3:

Right, You're going to propose marriage. No, I I mean, I think Teresa poured in on way too thick. I think that both of the he just looked uncomfortable, but I'm going to keep saying that over and over. He looked uncomfortable when they would like she would say I love you, when they were saying goodbye to each other, he just turned around and walked away. The whole thing is weird, I'm going to tell you. And then they announced they're doing another one.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, they came on and they said if you would like to apply to be a contestant, so yeah.

Speaker 3:

I just don't see me doing I mean listen maybe, but I wouldn't be in it. I just don't. I want to see the outcome of this because I am feeling like it's still not going to be either one of these women. I just do.

Speaker 3:

I can't even get past the I love you part because there's, I mean, it's not even as sincere as when you tell a coworker thanks, love ya, mean it, yeah, and the kissing was so forced, it was so forced and then, like they hit each other's faces in a weird way because it wasn't, it wasn't, it wasn't passionate, and either one you know people over 60, you can tell passion, you could tell people who are into each other this is not it with either one of them. And I think he thought he wanted Teresa because she's safe. I even he said she's warm, safe and secure but yet he wants the adventurer part in Leslie. He doesn't want, he wants one of those in both. You know.

Speaker 2:

He said to Leslie last night I had no idea how responsible you are. Ew, if someone said that to me, I'd be like responsible. I'm not asking you if I can adopt a dog, I'm asking you to be like my life part. I had no idea how responsible you are. That's not sexy, that's a big yuck.

Speaker 3:

And also, I just don't. I definitely don't think he'll pick Leslie. I think he'll pick Teresa at this point, but I don't think he'll stay with her. I think they'll date a couple times and then he'll be over and he'll still go back to Joan.

Speaker 3:

Unless Joan becomes the Golden Bachelorette. Yeah, unless she becomes the Golden Bachelorette. But we'll see. I don't know. Last night I'm going to go back to saying I'm not. In the beginning I thought different of Gary. Now I'm kind of seeing him in a whole nether light and, by the way, even Jesse Palmer was like blah, blah, blah, blah, don't talk cause he goes. You know your parents you don't think that he's like we're talking about you. I don't want to talk about my mom and dad having sex.

Speaker 3:

You know what I mean, even he's yucked out yeah, I mean, we don't need. I think the fantasy sweet shouldn't have been called the fantasy sweet for this age group. I think they should have just said something else. But it's too weird, it doesn't have the same meaning.

Speaker 2:

I don't think either. Couple not intimate.

Speaker 2:

I think they wanted to make it seem like that could have potentially happened and that little silly line. I have to say that, well, two things. One is I haven't watched a full episode live since the first episode, so I, even though I know all of those commercials are in there, I always get to miss those commercials. I see it on Hulu, where they do have some commercials, but there'd be a scene and it would be like really supposedly trying to be all sexy, and then they would instantly cut away and be like do you have shingles?

Speaker 3:

Right, and so I mean that really they know their audience. Every TV show yeah.

Speaker 2:

But then the other part of it is. And because I don't watch the Bachelor regularly, I don't know if they always show blooper reels and they probably do but once I'd seen the blooper reels and I realized I knew it was scripted. But to see those scenes where they're like okay, do it over, gary, say that again. Now, every time he says some goofy line, I can hear the producers like in my mind saying okay, try that one more time, gary. This time I want you to look a little more deeply in her eyes and say it. So ever since seeing that blooper reel, I kind of have the behind the scenes on how scripted it really is. And then there was one line where she's she's like set the thermostat and he's like what do you want 70? And she's like 69. And like, oh my gosh.

Speaker 3:

Well, and I couldn't get past how much they were all sweating. I'm sorry, I didn't get past it. He was profusely sweating, the women were. They didn't look like they were having a good time to me, they just didn't. It was hot, it was buggy, it was muggy, it was humid. It just looked miserable to me. And I did feel sorry for Leslie because she's the one who I just felt like he was saying prove yourself to me, I've got you go down the mountain. She's like oh God, it's slippery, it's what. I just couldn't get past it. So I'm going to be watching the season finale, but I don't know, I kind of lost any respect for Gary in this last week.

Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah, he's. He's just not the real deal. I don't think for a minute. And I loved how he skirted the question about when was the last time he had sex. He probably had had sex Five different women two weeks prior, you know. I mean, who knows the way the dating right is these days and how the men seem to have the upper hand?

Speaker 3:

Well, I think he's trying to make himself like old-school grandfather, but I'm not buying it. No Spray tan in the tattoo. Yeah, and that big lion tattoo. Just I was that's what I mean like even something like that. I just felt like I got to see him in a different way. He came off as this gentlemanly grandpa Did we know he retired at 55?

Speaker 2:

I mean, I got the vibe that he was wealthy and that he had retired Recently and moved into the dream house. But 55 so now we're talking about this guy is like a wealthy, good-looking older man with ink, and it's just not the same picture they painted in the previews.

Speaker 3:

Right, that's what I think. Thanks. So I will be watching the season finale, the last one, just because I'm dying to see the prediction of if he I know he won't choose Leslie. I just am not seeing that at all. I think he'll choose Teresa, but it won't last.

Speaker 2:

That's my feeling exactly. I think it's a lesser of two evils. I think if you you know, the only one I would have believed in the final few would would have been Ellen. I think I could have bought that, being at least something that like they could have dated for a while, because I think, right, something in common.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, but Teresa is willing to quit her job. She's a successful woman doing something she enjoys too much, yeah, too much. In your later years, if you have something that you found that you absolutely love, you're gonna quit it for a new guy that you meet without any, any real commitment now, yeah, I'm sorry.

Speaker 2:

Leslie pretty much let it be known like she's not packing up and moving anytime soon. She's like I love, I don't want to leave for good from the Midwest. Maybe we won't be bicoastal, maybe we'll be a, you know, midwestern, you know she, she planted the seed that, yeah, we're not closing up shop right now just for this whim, whereas Teresa was like so needy it's, it's unfortunate. Will I be in for the next one? I don't know. Every every week I'm like I'll just read a recap, but then I watch. I can't look away, but I I will tell you that my husband made his selection. He's like, oh, based on everything, just that I'm seeing it's Leslie. I'm like no way he's not in there.

Speaker 3:

Why he's not there, it's too forced yeah and I was his complaint and Well also, you notice like he acted, like he couldn't stop thinking about her, but then, after one night with Teresa, that was over right. Yes, done thinking about her now. I like her.

Speaker 2:

He doesn't know what he wants.

Speaker 3:

He wants whatever the producers tell him he writes exactly, and then he will, with all this fame. Okay, he will drink that Kool-Aid and he will start to be the guy that every girl wants and then battle as Everything that's popular. The next golden bachelor will come in and it'll you know what I mean.

Speaker 2:

We'll forget about him.

Speaker 3:

Yes, exactly so. That's when I think Joan will enter the picture.

Speaker 2:

Yep, I agree. Well, it has been lovely to catch up with you on this and have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Speaker 3:
