Thank you for listening!

SPEAKER_00

Alrighty, we were back. We are back at the bar, episode thirty-seven. Thirty-seventh podcast. That's a lot of podcasts now. We're we're actually getting up there a little bit. We got a lot to talk about. We have a lot to talk about. I still aspire to do these twice a month. So far that has uh that that has proved a little bit elusive. Um but we'll keep working on it. It's it's an aspirational goal. Yes.

SPEAKER_03

Yes. Always have goals.

SPEAKER_00

We should always have goals. Uh we are here in the in the DMV area. Uh we are baking. It is very warm, it is very humid. Uh two two well, uh, because Kevin and I played golf today in the ridiculously hot weather, and Rachel ran. She calls every day.

SPEAKER_03

I did my foremost today.

SPEAKER_00

Hey, we're baby boomers, baby. We we we we keep it going. Yeah, but it was uh it was it was a little toasty today.

SPEAKER_03

It was hot. It's been hot, yeah. My air conditioning is definitely struggling. It's been hot in my house.

SPEAKER_00

Well, be grateful that you don't live in France because they oppose air conditioning, as do most of the European countries. I believe that will change.

SPEAKER_03

You believe that will change?

SPEAKER_00

They should change it. You know, I I I made a I made a crack during the last podcast that Democrats oppose air conditioning. Yes, I think the uh Europeans they they don't like air conditioning, and it's the leftists in Europe that are opposed to air conditioning because they believe that it affects climate change. And if there's no air conditioning, we're gonna be able to save the planet. Well I guarantee you this is going to change because they are they are um apparently they are like the hottest continent in terms of the uh elevation and temperature over the years, it's Europe.

SPEAKER_03

This is a new phenomenon for them. So they I mean, so they haven't dealt with a lot of really hot summers, but now they are every year. So we'll see if it changes once they have to actually suffer once you have to put your money where your mouth is, then well, some people have air conditioned over there. It's not it's not widespread. It's not nearly as widespread as it is here. But I don't use it.

SPEAKER_01

I don't want to label them, I don't want to label them as leftists, I just want to call them dumb people.

SPEAKER_00

But they are leftists.

SPEAKER_01

It's hot. Go get some air conditioning.

SPEAKER_02

What are we doing? I'm not sure if this is the place you guys are talking about, but isn't it a tradition that every Sunday they just like open up the windows and they don't use air conditioning? Isn't that what it is? No, they just don't have air conditioning.

SPEAKER_03

They just don't have air conditioning. They don't have air conditioning. Like also all over Europe, it's kind of hard to get ice. I mean, you go you don't get ice with your water, as you know, you have to ask for it, and sometimes they can't rustle it up for you because it it's not they're not we're a wealthy country, and we haven't realized that the you know it results in some of these differences. But also they're not used to these temperatures, and now for several years they've had these temperatures.

SPEAKER_01

And America will sell them sell them air conditioners.

SPEAKER_03

Well, do we? Are we at the World Center for Air Condition? Probably, because we definitely we definitely have more air conditioners and ice than anywhere else in Europe, that's for sure.

SPEAKER_00

Or probably anywhere. It's it's ridiculous that they don't have air conditioning.

SPEAKER_01

Well, let but I love to Rex's point, they don't have to deal with the heat. And if it if it's not an issue, but if it hasn't been an issue, okay, we'll leave them alone.

SPEAKER_03

So they'll they'll figure it out now, though. They'll figure it out.

SPEAKER_01

One more summer at 95 degrees. They're not gonna then yeah, they're not gonna get their usual summer tourists if I promise you the people who live there will be going to get air conditioned this winter.

SPEAKER_00

And look, yeah, I'm just gonna venture a guess here.

SPEAKER_03

I'm saying that a lot of them are more rugged than we are.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, well, it might be true. I'm gonna venture a guess, and I I strongly suspect that the wealthier people in Europe they have air conditioned. They have it. Yeah, they already have it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, for sure. You gotta get a special something or another to get permission to have it, but they have it.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, but even as a routine matter, you go to a nice restaurant in in Europe, they're not gonna automatically give you no ice. No, they're not gonna give you ice because they're not used to that.

SPEAKER_00

So and let me tell you, uh, in a hot summer day, you must have ice in your beverage. You must.

SPEAKER_05

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Well, um, Rachel has an actual gripe. This is like uh momentous occasion. Yes. My gripe. Well, let her rip. Fake news.

SPEAKER_03

Fake news. Whether it's the Republicans, the Democrats, people I love, or anybody. I'd be called on it in the latter category, people I love. He said a lot of stuff. Last time I just happened to be like watching the last, our last episode.

SPEAKER_00

To be clear, she's looking at Kevin. The audio listeners.

SPEAKER_03

White male in his company. I don't looked it up. Just for the the statistic, the ethnic, the breakdown in the in the United States as a whole, white is 57%, Hispanic, Latino 20%, black or African American 13.6, Asian 6.7. SpaceX. White 50%, so below the US population, Hispanic or Latino 26%, way above. Asian 11 to 21%, way above. Black or African American, 10%, a little below. And Tesla, 34% white, 34 to 37% white, way below. 22 to 27% Hispanic or Latino, 19 to 21% Asian, way ablack, way above, and about 10% black, so roughly the same and a little below the general population. But a lot of people that don't look like a white male.

SPEAKER_01

So what is your gripe?

SPEAKER_03

That's my gripe.

SPEAKER_01

Fake news that I you were produced. That's fake news. Okay. Propagating fake fake news.

SPEAKER_03

Pretty out of man daddy.

SPEAKER_01

So let me just refute the independent. Because I just kind of asked the question. Oh. We were talking about him being a trillionaire, right? And uh his stock going up. And my my argument was that, or my question was, I was I hope that people of color also were able to reap the benefits of his fortune. And I also conceded that his company looks to be pretty diverse according to chat. You mean you're conceding it now? I think I conceded it after we got off the mic last night. Or when I got home, we were talking about it. I looked it up. I looked it up. As a Democrat, we we own our own. But I'm happy that this is the truth.

SPEAKER_00

This is this is good. I'm pleased. Obviously, you need to read the thing.

SPEAKER_01

And I will next time uh read first, uh check into this first before I go on a rant.

SPEAKER_03

And on that same rant, on that same rant. Musk built Tesla and SpaceX with his own resources, and he then subsequently has gotten a lot of federal grants because he delivers a good product. We all like months ago we talked about Boeing's um inferior failure to failure. Twice, twice their contract was twice as big as SpaceX years late, and then it delivered it was the Starliner, right? It deliver delivered, like managed to deliver the two astronauts to the space station who got stranded and had to be rescued by Musk. So he get he's getting gonna get more, got and has gonna get more federal contracts because he delivers a better project on time and for half the cost.

SPEAKER_00

So I think the real question here is are you ready to acknowledge that he is uh on on the whole a net plus for society and our government?

SPEAKER_01

I'm not gonna give him a plus or a minus. I'm gonna leave him where he is.

SPEAKER_00

That's terrible. Well, uh speaking speaking of wealth, uh yes. So there's been a lot of news over the last couple weeks about the president's financial disclosure statement. A 927-page tome uh documenting uh his 2.2 billion. Wow. Not the president. Not the president. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So let's just we'll just take a quick uh run through this. Um so a crypto business uh that barely existed when Trump took office uh g got him around 1.2 billion.

SPEAKER_03

His biggest single payway that he started with was him and his two sons.

SPEAKER_01

No, he started with him, his two sons, and the folks over in uh the folks over in the middle east the Witcoff family.

SPEAKER_00

The folks in the Middle East bought that era. Yes. But his single biggest payday was six hundred and thirty-five million in royalties from the Trump meme coin. Well, look at that. Wow. Which has now crashed, roughly ninety-five percent from its inauguration week launch. And I believe we looked something up, said Right.

SPEAKER_03

So if you if you spent a thousand dollars on the Trump meme coin and in in his initial offering, you would now have twenty-three dollars.

SPEAKER_01

Well, hang in there, guys.

SPEAKER_03

Because I don't think the meme coin is gonna recover.

SPEAKER_01

Hang on to it, baby. Hang on to it, baby.

SPEAKER_03

Because Trump makes his money not from the value of the meme coin, like it doesn't matter to him if it's if it's gone from a thousand to twenty-three dollars. No makes it from the transactions.

SPEAKER_00

That's right. That's right.

SPEAKER_03

Ah that's right. And and the the trend transactions and financial fees associated with transactions. So so he has made six, what are we said? 635 million. And it's his it's his base and his supporters that went out and bought all these coins and they're down 95%. He built them.

SPEAKER_01

Come on, listen. This guy, he's great, right?

SPEAKER_00

But hold on, hold on, come on, hold on, we're not done yet. Okay. So he also reported tens of millions from legal settlements with media companies and tech companies, plus new income from branded watches, sneakers, Bibles, fragrances, and foreign licensing deals. Yeah. So let me so look. Yeah, I do that. Nobody should nobody should begrudge anybody making a living. But I but you cannot help but look at this and think about all of the complaining, justifiably so, about Hunter Biden during the during the Biden administration, right? So Hunter was clearly Hunter, his his uncle, his sister, all profiting off Joe Biden's time in office. They are small potatoes.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, I remember you hearing like like you know. Because it was outrageous. And and that, right, and now it's small potatoes compared to Trump is.

SPEAKER_01

It's like couch change because I remember when we wouldn't let Jimmy Carter sell a peanut. No, we wouldn't have a peanut while he was in pr as the president.

SPEAKER_00

But all the trouble his brother got into for Billy Beer.

SPEAKER_01

Right, I remember and and and I mean it's just crazy. He is hosing the people that say they love him.

SPEAKER_03

So I looked up a couple of these things from his God bless USA Bibles last year.

SPEAKER_00

He made $1.3 million off Bibles, off Trump Bibles.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and that's a small percentage of the $2.4 billion he made last year, but what but I wouldn't consider that small change. And $2.5 million off of his sneakers.

SPEAKER_01

Trump sneakers. I can't believe they sold those. I I thought. I don't know who owned them. I don't know who owned them. I don't know. But I'll just say this. This is no surprise, in my opinion. This man has been doing this his whole entire career, his whole life. Selling steaks, they don't sell, selling wine, it don't sell, selling schools that don't teach. Well, he is a fraud per fraudulent person.

SPEAKER_03

But they do sell kids.

SPEAKER_01

Put him in office, and what did you think he was going to do?

SPEAKER_03

They sell 2.5 million on sneakers and 1.3 million on Bibles.

SPEAKER_01

He's just, but he's just stealing from his stealing from the people. Okay, so this is right here.

SPEAKER_03

And the and the other thing that he made a lot of money from, I don't think 67 million or something like that from Mar-a-Lago.

SPEAKER_00

Oh more than 70 million.

SPEAKER_03

70 million is the so the price of uh joining, and this is not your an whatever what your annual fee, the price of joining Mar-a-Lago has gone from 100,000 in 2016 before he came president, to 1 million dollars. That's the price of joining. So for the annual membership.

SPEAKER_00

So for those of you who probably may not be joining country clubs, right? That's just the initiation fee. So you still have to pay all of your monthly dues. I don't know what the monthly dues are, but it costs you a million just to get in. Just to join.

SPEAKER_01

So we do know that this is uh access to the president, right? This is what you're paying for. Access to the president. And this is this is this is just fraudulent. You don't sell the presidency, but apparently we do now.

SPEAKER_03

But here's there's a difference between fraudulent and unseemly. I mean, like so I don't know. But everything is against been against the law, but it's not a good idea.

SPEAKER_00

So that's that's what I was gonna say. So none of this is illegal, but it is wildly unethical.

SPEAKER_02

For sure.

SPEAKER_05

Right.

SPEAKER_00

It's absolutely it's all transactional. All of these deals with all these Middle Eastern countries who have then funded all of these ventures that ultimately result in money going into the family's pockets, it's pay to play. It's pay to play.

SPEAKER_03

Plain and simple, and let me just finance guy got got got uh pardoned. Pardoned. Yes, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And uh, you know, this guy is not a bright guy. He's always been kind of he clearly knows how to make money. Well, he knows how to steal money. He knows how to steal money, he knows how to market. It's legal. Listen, my point, stealing means you you you he's the president, he knows he's in a seat, he can talk and say and put things, he knows what people respond to. This is just taken advantage of. It's it's bad, right? The problem is the next smart guy that comes along that wins your heart and makes you think he's wonderful, he'll bankrupt the country. Because we're sitting by watching this guy do this and nobody is saying a word. True. Period. So have fun. You think he's still the greatest ever? Go ahead. Right. The next one, the next one's gonna be savvy like uh Obama, smooth like Clinton, a thief like Trump, and he's gonna take advantage of this whole country because people are gonna stand around and say, it's no big deal. It's no big deal. It's no big deal.

SPEAKER_00

Well, look, so my like so here's my question. So there's a a significant part of the MAGA movement are working class voters. Yes. So if you're okay, but so if if you're but if you're if you're a working class voter, I mean, do you do you just look at him and say, oh my god, well I I you know I we just want to be like him. We want to be rich and successful. Or do you or do you look at this and say, my God?

SPEAKER_03

This is gonna this is gonna hurt this is gonna hurt this is gonna hurt him. All of those supporters who bought his meme token and or look at the other thing. It's not worth $23. This is gonna this is gonna hurt him.

SPEAKER_01

I don't believe it.

SPEAKER_03

I I thought so you're gonna do it. No, no, I is that this man I think I think this is gonna hurt him because they are when they see this in their pocketbooks. They see what they did for him, where it got them, and he's got six hundred million dollars.

SPEAKER_01

You are speaking very logically right now. I was just about to say I don't know if I'm craving.

SPEAKER_03

I think this is gonna hurt. I think this is gonna hurt.

SPEAKER_00

You guys, you guys will probably remember this. This was it was either late 2015 or early 2016. He'd already announced for president, and he was doing an interview uh on the streets of New York City with Brian Kilmead from from Fox.

SPEAKER_03

I could shoot somebody in.

SPEAKER_00

And Trump said, I could stand atop of Fifth Avenue and I could shoot somebody and they would still love me.

SPEAKER_03

That's still different. He's not shooting them. He's not shooting them. In this case, he's shooting them. He's shooting them.

SPEAKER_01

That's a good thing. The problem that's a good thing. The problem is that's a good point. The problem is these people don't know he's shooting them.

SPEAKER_05

Well, they are not paying attention to who is killing them.

SPEAKER_01

They have quite literally blamed everything still on the Democrats.

SPEAKER_00

No, that is also getting them in their pocketbooks. But but but to his point, which I think is which I think I think this is true, I think these folks watch particular networks. They go to particular social media feeds where they're just listening to people who agree with them. So I don't think this is being reported on any of those.

SPEAKER_03

Fox News is not Fox News is not agreeing with that.

SPEAKER_00

I think these folks are watching One America News, Newsmax, all the crazy people.

SPEAKER_01

A lot of them don't cover media. A lot of them don't really cover it. They hit it a little bit, then they move on. Then they're talking about, I don't know, whatever else.

SPEAKER_03

Fox covered. Fox has been hitting him on several things.

SPEAKER_01

It's not like CNN, it's all day. They all day talking about it.

SPEAKER_00

Uh from from sun up to sundown. Yeah, 100%. Yeah. Oh, I got a full blast of it this morning. I was flipped doing some channels through their CNN. Oh my god. Like, you know, that's that's all they wanted to talk about. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So there you go. Well, you know, yeah. This is what we got. We got two more years or six more years. Who knows? We don't know yet.

SPEAKER_03

I think we have two more years. I think they're I think because first of all, like so this is not going by the the vote, the elections are one in the middle. And all of those independents, this is not going over their head. They're they're seeing all this.

SPEAKER_01

Well, you do speak for the independents. Listen.

SPEAKER_03

Um, the three of us, John is not defending Trump here. And that's unusual.

SPEAKER_00

No, this is this is horrible.

SPEAKER_01

Well, you know, when people are actually paying attention, it should go this way. You shouldn't just say, Oh, I'm a Republican, so whatever he's doing is fine. We can all find fault with whoever candidates we use.

SPEAKER_03

It should go this way. This is that's why I said last year. You should be saying, yeah, this is bad. This is bad for America. Last time it's like you shouldn't say Graham Plat Platiner is like a good guy just because you're a Democrat. Because like, oh, he's a bad guy.

SPEAKER_00

He he's not a good guy.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

And I thought we did that last time.

SPEAKER_00

All right. We did. Speaking well, uh speak speaking of the socialist left. Uh oh my gosh. So we had uh we had some elections uh in uh New York, uh federal elections in New York, and we had some federal elections in Colorado over the last couple of weeks. And I think uh I think there were people who wanted to say that um the great socialist rise, democratic socialists of America was going to be limited to New York. Well, it isn't. It has now infected Colorado too. Uh so I mean in I mean, in these these candidates, uh, you know, the three candidates that Mandami, Merrymandami endorsed in New York, they are they are part of Democratic Socialists of America. They are socialists, okay? And these folks who won in Colorado, so there were two races in particular. One was a a longtime incumbent Democratic congresswoman, very liberal. I mean, very, very liberal. Right, and this is one of the New York guys like prosecuting Trump.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, he's as progressive as they come.

SPEAKER_00

Ken Goldman. Yeah. Goldman. So the woman who was defeated in Colorado, very liberal, she was defeated by a 29-year-old former barista. Yeah. Who is let's just be honest, she's bet shit crazy.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, come on now. Come on now.

SPEAKER_00

Have you listened to what this woman has had to say?

SPEAKER_01

Come on now. Go ahead. Continue. I'll let you see.

SPEAKER_03

Abolish the point of the city.

SPEAKER_00

What makes us so crazy? We should wash our hands with the American flag. We invited 9 11. It was all our fault. You know, you know, the genocide against Palestine. Palestine's not even a country.

SPEAKER_01

Well, no, that's not true. That's what the left is. We got a lot of politicians who say a lot of things. Everybody doesn't agree with them. But I think the real the real important issue here is not those things. The real important issue is these folks are trying to fight for the American people. And they are saying the establishment politicians are trash. And they are not getting it done. Every year they come out and say, hey, we're going to fix it. They don't fix it. These folks are saying they're going to fight for the American people. Now, all that stuff aside, we we watched Trump call people with deranged with we watched all that. Everybody was okay with it. Well, not everybody. Well, we voted for him, and he's in office twice. Yes. So I think we are in a place right now where you're going to see people who say, we're going to save Medicaid. We're going to make sure that you get health care. We're going to make sure that your childcare is there. Those people are going to win, regardless of whatever you call batshit crazy, uh, that they say. That's what they're fighting for. But Kevin, it's the last point, the right likes to hijack these terms, woke, DEI, turn them into evil things. These folks are saying we're fighting for the American people, period. That's what they're saying.

SPEAKER_03

I mean the Goldman is as progressive as as well.

SPEAKER_00

Goldman is an incumbent congressman in New York who lost his primary.

SPEAKER_03

As progressive as you get, and it has been in the front lines of trying to indict Trump. And so in that case, the it seems, and every I think everyone agrees that that election was very much on the basis of Israel.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and look, and here's here's my here's my issue. And this is not uh this is not the fault of these people who are getting elected, it's the fault of it's the fault of the media. At some point, the media has to ask them, well, what do you mean? How exactly are you gonna save Medicare? How how exactly are you gonna save Medicaid? I don't disagree with that. What exactly are you going to do for the working man?

SPEAKER_01

I don't disagree with that.

SPEAKER_00

Tell me your policies. I don't disagree with that.

SPEAKER_01

And we gotta stop letting the same old fogies return to policy, it's return to their seats and do nothing except ro raise their uh increase their wealth and leave the working class people on the side as well. So I'm willing to take a chance. We do everything around here. Just take a chance.

SPEAKER_00

So as part of my research for this podcast, which I take very seriously, you know, I I decided to go to the Democratic Socialists of America website. And all you gotta do is read it. It's right there. It's Marxism. I mean, it's it's it's you know, from from each according to his ability to each according to his needs. It is right out of Karl Marx.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so you prefer you don't want that.

SPEAKER_00

And it's so you and it's a good thing.

SPEAKER_01

So but you do want a trillionaire Elon Musk.

SPEAKER_03

We don't want anybody in prison. Nobody's not the police over. We don't need prisoners. No, no, it's not overlay.

SPEAKER_01

It's not overlay. We're gonna the skies are out of the house. You rather your children never buy a house while Elon Musk's kids have all the houses, but we but but because we're capitalists, we're good. You good? You good with that? Uh I'm just saying, are we good with that? Because that's where we're headed. But people cannot buy a home, people cannot afford food, they can't afford gas. And you're saying these are Marxists.

SPEAKER_00

They are Marxists.

SPEAKER_01

And and we the wealth should come flow down. They believe it. They believe that it doesn't. They don't know. It doesn't because of the politicians and the rules that are in place now. The rich continue to get richer. They believe the poor get poorer.

SPEAKER_03

Neither do their policies work.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Neither do their policies work.

SPEAKER_01

We haven't heard their policies yet.

SPEAKER_03

The policies are examples of all policy.

SPEAKER_01

Well, well, one one thing we need to do is uh stop our politicians from being able to do uh the the marketplace. That was put out there, they put that down. They won't they didn't do that. Oh, you mean uh uh allowing politicians to uh do trades, yeah, yeah, inside trading that should stop. We had an immigration bill uh several years ago. We threw that in the garbage. I mean, what do we do?

SPEAKER_03

We never had one.

SPEAKER_01

There was a bipartisan bill that was put forward by the Biden administration, everybody they they they tanked. Oh, that wasn't that was that was even that even preceded Biden.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, but you understand that what the Democratic Socials of America, what they believe is they believe that the government should control the means of production. Well, that'll never happen. But that's what they believe.

SPEAKER_01

You see, and they're electing all these people who who believe this shit. But that's why we have rules. That's why we have checks and balances. Who are you talking about? We got a nut in our White House right now. Thank God the checks and balances are holding.

SPEAKER_03

I think the last time we're gonna be researched. I think last time you said the government should own SpaceX and the whole thing.

SPEAKER_01

No, the government, I do think the government should uh control that kind of thing. If if it is going to be that big and that large, it should have a stake in that.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, the government can't can't produce that effect. We can work with our private partners.

SPEAKER_01

But the government should have a heavy hand in that. Well, y'all said last time, Elon Musk was the only one that could do it. There is no competition.

SPEAKER_03

There is competition, but they don't measure up, and that's why he gets to play trace. Look at what we just talked about. Boeing, Boeing had twice the amount of money to develop rockets.

SPEAKER_01

If you're talking about Boeing, that's been going on for I don't know, a hundred years, they've been getting racing.

SPEAKER_03

And this is what would happen if the government ran the industrial.

SPEAKER_01

That's what happened when certain people in the government run the industry.

SPEAKER_03

I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

No, they let things slide, they keep giving them contracts, they keep passing it along. There's if there if there was really a check and balance on that, Boeing would have lost their contract some time ago. We would have stood up and helped stand up other businesses to compete with Boeing to make sure that we have to get a there's decades, there's decades of evidence.

SPEAKER_03

There are plenty of people trying to build rockets.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, look, there are. There are. And we should give all of them a shot. Everybody should have access to that.

SPEAKER_03

There have been many, and they have all had they have all had their shots.

SPEAKER_00

Look, there are de there there's decades of evidence of how uh crazy it is for the government to be running all this stuff, right? They don't do it. They don't do it at all. And look, the issue on the issue on the table is are it is are these candidates who belong to Democratic Socialists of America, is this going to be good for the Democratic Party, or is it going to be bad for the Democratic Party? Exactly. That's the question.

SPEAKER_01

The voters will tell you.

SPEAKER_03

And then the voters will let us. My prediction is that their successes in the last two months is going to benefit the Republicans.

SPEAKER_00

And I get and Republicans are feeling giddy about this. They think this might just save their ass. Not gonna happen.

SPEAKER_03

They're happy. Exactly. They are happy about this because the again, back to the middle. The middle is like the side makes the difference. More people that are independents that are than are Democrats or Republicans.

SPEAKER_01

Well, we're just a few months away from the midterm.

SPEAKER_03

And indeed, it's the people in the middle that makes a difference.

SPEAKER_00

But where we are right now is we need to refill. Yes.

SPEAKER_03

And they are not gonna like the socialist adjustment. So I think in the end.

SPEAKER_00

All right, we'll be back. All right, we are we are back. We are back at the bar. We have fresh beverages. Yes. Um I think we've decided as a group that we we need to like, you know, at least tape what we talk about when we're not on mice. Because we're really entertaining. As soon as these things go off, right? Um, so uh the so the Supreme Court has completed its term, its 25-26 term. There were a lot of um uh fairly important decisions. Um I think depending on what your political persuasion is, uh there are probably people who say, oh my god, they gave Trump whatever he wanted. And there are people who say, Oh, well, particularly the Trump people say, Oh my god, they screwed us on everything. Uh but I want so I want to so before we get into this, I I would like to read a few statistics about the 25-26 term uh to combat the media nonsense about how terrible the Supreme Court is. Um, 44% of the cases were decided by nine zero votes. So we gotta 11% of the decisions were decided by eight to one decisions. Uh four percent were seven to two decisions. So the broader the broader picture, fifty-nine percent of all decisions this term were decided by a margin of seven to two or wider.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

So this nonsense that the quote conservative court is just in Donald Trump's pocket and it needs to be expanded to 15 justices to satisfy, you know, the the Democrats' demands to pack the court is nonsense.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I mean I like the statistics that you're quoting, but the important the important These are like the must statistics. No, no, they're not. No, they're not.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, they are. Every decision is important to the Supreme Court.

SPEAKER_01

We talk about giving Trump immunity. That was a big one. That that that was a that was a that was a conservative win.

SPEAKER_03

And you know, we've had several conservative losses all the time.

SPEAKER_01

But my point is he lost on birthright citizenship. Well he should have. I don't know. I agree. So but the point is he shouldn't have won on immunity as the president. He should not have won on birthright.

SPEAKER_03

It wasn't about him. It's about the president's. It's about him. It's not about him. This is about him because he thinks it's about him because he's now he's mad at the conservative justices that voted against him and right citizenship in other cases.

SPEAKER_01

They stood on business.

SPEAKER_03

The point that John is making is that they are not rubber stamping Trump and Oh, a couple of them are, but okay. What difference is a whole? As a whole it does matter because if this is a conservative court which is not rubber stamping, the optics say that some of these people are in his pocket and they will do whatever he asks.

SPEAKER_01

And that is a problem for our Supreme Court.

SPEAKER_03

But I can name two. But the truth is that they're not. Clarence.

SPEAKER_00

Kevin, when you say when you say that they're in Trump's pocket, that that's that's just blatantly false. Come on. Thomas and Alito are huge believers in an expansive view of executive power. And it wouldn't make any difference who the president was. They just believe in an expansive, far more expansive than I believe in it, but I'm I'm not a lawyer. I just don't believe in that expansive a view of executive power.

SPEAKER_01

Well, aren't they supposed to be judging this based on prostitution? Uh the law, uh what America desires, what the forefathers foresee. We got a guy who is unethical in the White House, and our Supreme Court is giving applauding him. They're not chastising him, and they're not pushing back on some of the things that he's doing. It's not their job. Their job is not a good thing. They're not rubber. Is it constitutional or not?

SPEAKER_03

Amy Cody Merrill is now getting death threats because she's gone against Trump himself.

SPEAKER_01

That's America's cases. That's America. Okay, everybody, everybody who stands up and does something different. We if somebody's gonna write a note, we're gonna kill you. That's America. I didn't say she's rubber stamping. I said it's a couple. I didn't say her.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, you know what? You know what? Ruth Baderginsburg and Scalia were the best of friends. They had different views on it. A lot of things, but they both had not Roe v.

SPEAKER_00

Wade.

SPEAKER_01

We already covered this months ago.

SPEAKER_03

But they both had they both had prints, they both respected that the other that they each other had principles that they stood upon regardless of who was president. So you've got you've got a conservative Supreme Court for sure, but they're not rubber stamping every case. They are trying to read the law as they see it.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. I'm gonna leave it right there. I'm happy that they're so I mean I'm happy that the way they went with the birthright. I'm happy with the way they went with the transgender and tariffs.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah. So the transgender thing is is interesting because there was, I mean, there was a lot of uh uh celebration in uh I wouldn't I wouldn't say it's conservative circles. I would say there's a lot of celebration in rational American circles over this decision that biological males should not participate in the world. Yeah, it's not sports, yeah, right. But here's the thing you know what we do as a man it's like a 90-10 issue in America.

SPEAKER_01

I know, but we line up as blue and red and then we demonize the other side. Most Democrats who I will say don't think that boys should play sports with girls. Period. I don't think it's a good thing.

SPEAKER_03

But you will say I don't know if boys. I believe that's most Democrats agree with the biggest.

SPEAKER_01

I believe but what they say about what democratic socialists of America is. But what they what they say is, what they say is, just like we, you know, everybody doesn't agree with a homosexual lifestyle. But nobody wants to see homosexuals abused or or killed or stomped out or they don't have a voice. That that's the point. If there are people who are willing to let boys play with girls in a sports in Kentucky, that boys and girls club should be able to thrive, do what they want to do. They should not be able to log as true athletes, in my opinion, and be able to compete at the highest level, because I do think that's bad. But if you got little boys who want to play with girls out of somewhere, little boys and girls club, then that's fine. We got girls playing football right now. Listen, that is fine.

SPEAKER_03

But no, but here but here's my my daughter was on the wrestling team and at a point where the wrestling team? No kidding. Yeah, because my father was a was actually accomplished wrestler in in college. So she and she loves loves my loves my father. Loves my father, but he's not with us anymore. She did high wrestling in junior high and it was a co-ed team.

SPEAKER_01

At that point, but at some point she realized that 200 pound boy, she can't turn him over.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, right. So I don't support I don't support co-ed or co-ed wrestling like or transgender wrestling um for adults. Because it's not a fair game. At the age that she did it, it was okay.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so but here's here here's the rub on the decision. So the decision was is that states may prevent ch transgender athletes from may prevent biological males from participating in girls' sports. They didn't say must. And that's which means that you're gonna have all these blue states. I I forget what the number is. There's a majority of states now that have laws that say that you cannot have biological males participating in girls' sports. But there's a whole handful of these blue states that have passed laws to allow just that.

SPEAKER_01

There's a whole handful of communities. Which means there's gonna be another case of boys to play with girls. And that's okay. But I don't think it should be at the highest level. When you get to high school, there should be separation. There's absolutely I mean, it is so defeating if you're a girl and you're running track in high school and you're trying to have a track career and they're letting a guy run against you. That is so defeating. Do you remember?

SPEAKER_00

Do you remember the last do you remember the last Summer Olympics? There was a boxing match.

SPEAKER_01

Yep, I remember that. That was terrible. That was horrible. That was horrible. Just beat the crap out of her woman. And they should never let that out. It was insane. Yeah, that was crazy. So I mean, I I mean, there's a place for it, but it shouldn't be on the legitimate scale of me and the national.

SPEAKER_03

Right, and it's and I don't know where and so in terms, certainly in terms of the uh Democrats at the time of the last election were still saying that boys should be able to play with girls in favor of that. So that was one of the things that lost the election for that.

SPEAKER_00

Well, remember, one of the most Well, we really should have lost the election. Well, look, I mean, one of the most effective ads that the Trump campaign ran was when Trump Trump ran an ad that said, Kamala is for they them, Trump is for you. Yeah. It was a fact.

SPEAKER_03

And that was very effective ad.

SPEAKER_01

So I don't know. How short-sighted America is. That they let that determine who they put in the White House. How short-sighted are we?

SPEAKER_02

Well, you gotta remember when Trump was running, there was there was a um uh a major agenda to to just cause division. So once you divide like it's just the extremists, right? It's just completely left or completely right. It's just now you gotta choose one.

SPEAKER_03

Right. There was a general sense that, and it was true, that the Democrats went too woke, and that was right.

SPEAKER_01

That's not woke. That's not true. It's not woke, it's not woke. That's not woke, but it's okay. I know you like to use it. That has nothing to do with woke.

SPEAKER_00

I let a walk with woke.

SPEAKER_01

They like to use the word, but that's not having to do with being woke.

SPEAKER_00

You have like the ancient definition of woke. That's the only definition there is that ship. That's what y'all turning into.

SPEAKER_01

Has nothing to do with us.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, too politically correct, and that was part of the pleasure.

SPEAKER_02

I like that better.

SPEAKER_00

I like that better. I like that better. But but the but but the but the point of all the point of all this is the court. And I think that this is this is a very this this is a very I mean, this is why we have an independent judiciary. This is why we have three coequal branches of government. Now, there may be some people who don't believe in three coequal branches of government. Um I mean the the independent judiciary is really, really important to our republic. And I think it's happening to be an independent judiciary. Thank God it's holding this.

SPEAKER_01

Thank God it's holding. Thank God is holding. Well, of course it's holding. Not of course, that's the problem. No, there's a problem right there. People think, well, of course it's not gonna change. That's who we are. Until it changes.

SPEAKER_03

I happen to be until it changes. I happen to be an optimist and have faith in our democratic system. Rachel, you're an optimist?

SPEAKER_00

Are you are you a glass half full kind of gal? Yeah. You should be a Republican. Well, for the school and half.

SPEAKER_01

Well, for the past, for the past two years, I've been a glass half empty. Well, because you're a Democrat. Of course you're a glass half empty. I'm watching this, I'm watching the train wreck.

SPEAKER_03

I'm a glass half- I'm watching a train wreck. Trump is a train wreck, but I believe our country is going to, and democracy and our system of government is going to survive from beyond him.

SPEAKER_00

It's a very we have we it's we it's it's a very resilient system. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I think so.

SPEAKER_00

Um and this this is a this is a good segue into there's a lot going on in the country right now. So today is July the 3rd. Tomorrow we are celebrating America 250. 250's got the World Cup in the United States. And this this has been awesome. It's been wonderful.

SPEAKER_01

It has been great. It has been great.

SPEAKER_00

It's been so great.

SPEAKER_01

We've been playing really well. It's a good counterbalance to what's going on otherwise. Thank God for FIFA.

SPEAKER_00

But this is why sports is wonderful. It is. Sports is wonderful. And you're seeing all these great games, and um, and I love the fact that you know all of these stadiums around America are full to watch soccer.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, not even the stadiums, but the streets. Remember the tartan army that went to Boston?

SPEAKER_00

And they actually Scots that drank the city drop.

SPEAKER_01

That isn't great. And and and they uh they go down to the mall and watch the game. They gave us very good. That's when you get your biggest crowds, by the way.

SPEAKER_03

By the way.

SPEAKER_01

But they won't be that day tonight, I'll promise it's a hundred and say no.

SPEAKER_03

Say credit, give credit when credit is due, because Trump did bring it to the mistakes.

SPEAKER_00

So well, and you know, uh I kudos to her for actually acknowledging that and letting Trump derangements. syndrome uh you know to the to the corner for a moment.

SPEAKER_01

A broke clock is right twice a day. That's it.

SPEAKER_03

But bro, but broke broke but broke I mean this took energy and maneuvering and all the bringing his skills to this car. So that was a good cause. He has some skills.

SPEAKER_00

But but the but the whole thing the whole America 250 thing is really uh I mean it's really quite fascinating. So uh a moment of personal privilege. Uh so my my grandfather on my mother's side so throughout my entire life um his birthday was July 4th oh wow wow and of course we celebrated his birthday every July 4th and when he passed where was he born he was born he was born in Los Angeles okay and his uh his his his parents were actually born in Italy okay yeah because I knew that when well my on my mother's side of the family um on her so her her mother most of her family was born in Italy and they came over on the boat to Ellis Island um so so for all these years we celebrated my grandfather's birthday on July 4th and then when he passed uh you know family's going through his stuff and they find his birth certificate and they find out he was actually born on July 7th. Oh no but the man was a patriot he loved America he loved July 4th and so at some point along the way he just kept told people his birthday was July 4th God bless him. No that's good that's cool but I mean I think but it's 250 years you think 250 years is a long time. It's not in the scheme of things it's not in the scheme of things when you look at thousands of years of history you know for other continents around the world but you know I mean I I still feel like it's a great time to be an American and it's a great time to be celebrating this. And I still believe that we have the greatest country on earth I think we have the freest country on earth. It's not like we don't have problems it's not like we haven't screwed things up it's not like uh so as Condaleza Rice says when she's been doing these interviews about America 250 the great thing about America is America is always striving to be better. Yeah then I think that's a great way to look at it. I agree.

SPEAKER_01

Well I agree well that sounds good that sounds good. Well what are your what are what are your focus I think we try to strive I think we do try to strive okay what country do you think is better I like no I think America is the greatest country on earth I don't I didn't I didn't I didn't denounce that I didn't denounce that I I I mean I think it's great that we got FIFA here. It is really uni it's really unifying of the world in my opinion. It is it is we are seeing people Scotland but people coming here and and people are just embracing but not only they are they are embracing America but we're also embracing their cultures too which is which is what America is supposed to be right not the country that decides who should be here and who not and being divisive.

SPEAKER_03

So all I'm saying we while we strive and back to this birthright citizen citizenship issue there is no Western Europe other Western European country or uh economically advanced country other than Canada that allows birthright citizenship but who cares about that so what?

SPEAKER_01

What do you mean no we can't we should we this is on our constitution this is what we do I'm saying we welcome we should not we welcome people more than other countries okay well we should and we shouldn't even ask the question we shouldn't even ask the question that should this should not even be on the document we shouldn't ask the question do you mean that we should just have to why did this come why did this even come to the Supreme Court uh because we want to kick people out of the country that's why this is an issue when you say we who are you referring to yeah because this concern the current the current leadership doesn't agree with you affirmed they affirmed birthright citizenship and it's one of one of the home parts of the country that makes us better than other countries if you have a rule and this is it makes us better than if you have a rule you have a law when people say I don't like that law and then they say we want to challenge it in the court they're asking for the law to change I'm saying this is the law of the land. Why are we even challenging the court with this look it's when you were born in America the greatest country on earth okay you are an American citizen period I don't care what the hell nobody else does. What about Okay we we've we I think we touched on this in a a few podcasts ago I can't remember which one um but we did talk about are there people who come into the country tourism and do birth tourism and you know specifically it takes it to have birth tourism okay that's a great point the country has has uh challenged those things they have arrested people for this it's not illegal it is some in some forms it is illegal yes it is actually illegal there are the people that there are people to set up rings are there are people to set up rings to do this the Chinese okay whoever you want to call them I don't who cares who they are it's mostly people do that but they have been caught they have been uh arrested they've been it is against our regulations that yeah you can't just do that because you're taking you're you're taking advantage of our social systems and everything everything in the prior administration you can be arrested for coming in under for applying for visa under false pretension okay now in the previous administration we had open borders we did which means that you were there were a lot of people coming over the border I suspect that some of them were coming over the border some of them probably had babies going away across the no I think some of them probably came over the border pro giving birth at the same time thousands of people came in this country look but and look I mean that's and that's a very small birth tourism industry of people that pay a lot of money.

SPEAKER_03

These are wealthy people from mostly from Chelsea pay a lot of money to come in to give birth to their child and then go back. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

So if this is really a thing why doesn't Congress pass a law. Rather than you know this this idea that you're just gonna challenge you know you're gonna challenge the 14th amendment and say that what it says really it really doesn't say that which is not true. You need a constitutional amendment which means you have to have Congress refer to the states right well let's have a real conversation if you want to change if you want to change the Constitution don't you have to have uh Congress has to pass a law hey man has to be referred to the states and the states have to vote.

SPEAKER_01

Congress is absent right now. Well they're doing nothing we can't get nothing through that place.

SPEAKER_03

We right now we're right now living under a dictatorship the Supreme Court affirmed birthright citizenship it's in the Constitution and we all support that yes there's a very small group of birth tourism people that are slipping in and you probably enforce the the rules that are in place but you should not change the colour we have to tighten up the regulations which executive agency has jurisdiction over those regulations is it the Justice Department or no it would be the State Department's the problem or wait our Homeland Security or immigration net immigration network I have no idea who's in charge of that State Department who deals with well it's visas.

SPEAKER_01

I think State Department deals with visas so my thing is the re the right likes to hang their hat on these small issues and make them huge. Yes it's I mean that's all it's it's too much. It's overblown and it's it's 10 people that gave birth in the country that it shouldn't have so then now we gotta write a law. We gotta write a whole law about thirty thousand it's about thirty thousand people they wanted to say it's a small percentage people because it takes a lot of money to take advantage of birth terrorism then when they when you got uh immigrants coming in and two people kill somebody who all of them are killers let's get them all out so it it they just do too much and the Supreme Court affirmed the birthright it's just crazy.

SPEAKER_00

So this is this is a this is a perfect example of how there is we have no courageous leaders in Washington. And I'll give you an example of this. We all can agree on the hearing by so there was a hearing in the House Judiciary committee last week with this Gorman woman whose child was killed by an illegal immigrant and it turned into a clown show where you had Mike Lawler who represents this woman Mike Lawler who's a Republican congressman from New York and Jamie Raskin who's a liberal democrat from Maryland and this poor woman is testifying sharing her story I mean just it's just a horrible story. And she was just beside herself that nobody on the other side of the dais uh seemed to have any sympathy for her whatsoever. And all Jamie Raskin could say well what about Alex Predy in Minnesota? Why aren't we talking about how he was killed by the government? Well look why can't we just say that both of these things are wrong are wrong. Are wrong and they both ought to be condemned yeah we have no courageous leaders. John Schilling for president God help us all I like I do like Mike Oler I like him he's a solid dude he's a solid yeah he's smart I like him but hey it's happy birthday America right notice notice for our audience that we are wearing red white and blue yes we are patriotic Americans we are yes and we love our country we do love America even though we challenge it we still think it's the best we are striving to be better we are striving to be better we are all striving to be better word of the day let's be better in November ladies and gentlemen oh oh you had to make it partisan had to make it partisan all right happy July fourth cheers
