Providing free content to your community that helps to spread your message, let people get to know you and to trust the information that you provide is really important. It might also earn you some fans and followers who are interested in what it is that you have to say about dogs.
Some of these people may never buy from you, however, there will be some of "your people" who need and want your help and are looking to work with you more closely, in a paid capacity.
