[00:00:00] Joe Thompson
There's nothing new about the Bible. There's nothing new about his teachings. But the way we apply it now, we learn new ways to apply it, to apply it to business, to apply it in your home life to the applications are new, even though the teachings are old fellas.

[00:00:22] Dr. Nate Salah
Hello. Hello. Welcome back. Been a minute. It's been a minute. It's been a while. We, we've been busy. Here we are back on the show and we are on episode number six of our Beatitudes conversation. We talked about the first five beatitudes, and we're doing this, from the perspective of leadership, from business, from family life, and as we continue to progress in this journey, really uncovering things on the show, about our own understanding of these beatitudes and how to apply them in a fresh way and those first five beatitudes really are a step-by-step process. You know, we've been talking about these beatitudes as not just statements that are, sounds, sound good. They're, they're hacks, if you will, in, living in something that most people would consider impossible. Divine joy that's unencumbered by earthly conditions or circumstances.

[00:01:26]
It's not that you automatically instantaneously like, oh, well I've got these beatitudes memorized, so I should not have any stress, any problems, any issues. That's not the model. It's literally not allowing our circumstances and what's happening around us to impact the, the lifeblood, if you will, right? The, the, the life joy that God's saying, Hey, you know, what's available for everyone? So just walk and we're systems guys and we're process guys. So this is cool. It's cool to go through these with that lens because you've never done it, Travis. You've never done it, Joe. I've never done it. And most people never do it right?

[00:02:10] Joe Thompson
I mean, how many people, including ourselves, have read the Beatitudes like, okay, great. It's all good. You up hearing it? Yeah. I mean, you grow up hearing it over and over. You never, there's no application, to your life.

[00:02:27] Dr. Nate Salah
Yeah. I mean, 'cause you're the first one. Blessed are the poor in spirit. You know, you hear it, you're like, okay.

[00:02:34] Joe Thompson
Right. Poor people.

[00:02:35] Dr. Nate Salah
Right.

[00:02:37] Dr. Nate Salah
Oh, or, or, or, or you, you hear the second one. Blessed are those who mourn. Like, all right. Yeah. I've, I've, I've born before. Yeah. Right. Like, you try to find like a, like a scenario or like, right. Okay. Check a box. It's happened to me. Or, or blessed are the meek. Okay. Well, there's been times in my life where I've, I've, I've released my own pride and I've, you know, walked in meekness. Although it doesn't really mean that if you listen to the whole episode, you realize it's, it's actually a strength that's bridled, right?

[00:03:06] Joe Thompson
Yeah. That's, that's the condition of wallies is they, they, they don't jump out at you as strengths. They want you. Delve into him and, and you understand Jesus's meaning behind it, then you realize, oh, this is how to be strong, how to be a strong Christian, a life hack, so to speak.

[00:03:32] Dr. Nate Salah
Yeah, yeah. Yeah. It's fascinating. Did you, and then of course, blessed to those who hunger and thirst for righteousness. You're like, okay, that's cool. Yeah, I wanna do the right thing. Right? But, but from the, again, and please, if you haven't listened, go back and listen. Because it's not, it's, it's literally like the kind of hunger and thirst where you've been in a desert and you're like dying for one drop of water. Like, like, oh wow, that's best drop of water I ever had. And then merciful right to, to, to be merciful, is not just to, look at mercy as. Something that I have to do, it's something that I have to receive. Right. Except God's had a whole lot of mercy on me.

[00:04:24] Travis Revelle
Yeah. Yeah. I think all, all of the, the Beatitudes, I don't think anybody, at least from my perspective, is probably like dove into them in a similar way to really understand what is being said and surface level, you get a completely different. Feeling and meaning than, than, than diving into it and actually understanding what the, the message truly was. It's a very kind of clouded message. How, like, truthfully, it's not clear.

[00:04:55] Joe Thompson
The, the tell you the beauty of, of diving into these is that I think as Christians were, were, were kind of geared to here, like we hear. We hear a lot of things. Mm-hmm. But as far as applying it, doing it, you know, it's a whole different

[00:05:17] Travis Revelle
Yeah. And I think it's a whole different direction. And I think as Christians also, there's also kind of this, this feeling that you, you, you don't question, right? So you don't ask like, well, what does he mean? What does he mean by that? Right. Like, what does, what does that, what does that, what does that mean? Like, because you're just. Listening, right? Mm-hmm. And you're just supposed to just hear it and just take it in, take it in, and it never comes out. It never comes out, right? Right. And like, and I think that, I think that Christianity in general, right? Like I think probably Jesus wants us to take it in and discuss it and talk about it amongst each other and help each other and say, Hey, this is what I get out of it, right? Instead of it being. Doctrinal, that's a word. Yep. You know what I mean? And just like, it's more of a history lesson than a life lesson.

[00:06:11]
Mm-hmm. Right. This is what was said. This is how he said it is he said it too. Now move on. You know what I mean? Like Yeah. Next chapter. Yeah, next chapter. But like you said, like when you dig into this stuff, like this is all, you know, from a business perspective, this is stuff that is considered, you know. New, right? Like they're still teaching this, these, these, these aspects in business school today, right? Like what we talk about today is gonna be a lot about vision and clarity. You know what I mean? Like that's still something, that's a hot button topic. You know, if you went to Silicone Valley right now, you know what I mean? And you're talking to AI people, they're gonna use a lot of these phrases. But if you ask them, is that a Christian thing that you're doing? They would probably be like, what do you mean? Like, no, absolutely not. However. As we have uncovered, right? Like this was said 2000 years ago, you just gave me an idea of another book.

[00:07:08] Dr. Nate Salah
I dunno if it's been done before, but if it hasn't, we should do this. the attitudes in business.

[00:07:17] Travis Revelle
Yeah, no, I, I mean that's a, that's a, that's a, this is, that's a what, what I've gotten out of this.

[00:07:19] Travis Revelle
Right. And, and especially for me, right? So for me, like I have never spent a lot of time I've heard the beatitudes. But being raised in a more of a, you know, Pentecostal life, right? Like, there, there was never a time in my childhood where we talked about God, but there was never a time where it was more God as a judge. You know what I mean? And like, here's the very narrow path you have to, you have to fit to like, be able to get to, to, to be with God. Right. where. This is what's so interesting to me with this, is that I'm coming into it with fresh eyes, and kind of an open heart, but it also, it is, it is a path. I mean, it it is, it is. It is a, it is a, a, a philosophy on leadership. Yeah, it's good. And that is, that would've never in a million years thought that, you know, Jesus' first or any of his sermons was going to be. About leadership and, and how to create this world in which he's trying to lead you to.

[00:08:32] Joe Thompson
Right? Yeah. You know, I had someone the other day tell me, there's nothing new about the Bible. There's nothing new about his teachings. It's been around forever. We, we don't learn anything new from it. People have been studying it forever. And, I said, you know, that could be the case, but the way we apply it now. Like we learn new ways to apply it, to apply it to business, you know, to apply it in your home life. So the applications are new, even though the teachings are old, you know, the way we, we fit 'em in comes from a deeper understanding of, what they mean, but what all the teachings mean. Not just the attitudes.

[00:09:14] Dr. Nate Salah
And, and, and it's a, it's a, what we love about it. One of the things I think we all love about it is it, it's, it truly challenges us. Yeah. Like it's, it's, these are like, oh, you know, like, but they're doable. Yeah. They're doable. Yeah. They're, stretch goals.

[00:09:31] Travis Revelle
Yeah. That, that's what, that's what I like again, like my, my background, it's, it's, Jesus was, was almost un It is an, is an untouchable enigma, right? Like. This is like, I'm not, I'm not claiming like if we follow the Beatitudes, we're gonna be Jesus. Right. But I'm saying like, he gave us a very humanistic way of living a life to be set apart and not only just to be set apart and to be a good person, but to have a better overall quality of life. Right. Like, yeah. Yeah. It, it's not only are you going to be better Yeah. And a better person. But you're going to enjoy your life more if you follow these Pretty basic. Yeah. I mean, they're not, no, they're not crazy. No, they're And they're not. They're not long either, and most people probably do a few of them without even knowing that they're doing them, just because if you're a morally righteous person, you know what I mean? You don't have to be religious. You're just a. An average Joe who's just trying to live his life and like, you know what I mean? Like, do good things. You know, like you're not average Joe. You're not an average Joe. Yeah. Nice. But, so that's that, I think, and I think that, in, in some, in some regards, right, like that makes Jesus even more real as like a real person who understood the human condition well.

[00:11:00] Joe Thompson
I love the internal focus of them. You know what I mean? So growing up Catholic, everything is deeds, deeds, deeds, you know, feed the hungry, you know, clothe the poor. You know, it's always about what you're doing. and there's not as much internal reflection on, you know, how do I be a good Christian? How do I kind of calm that storm, that, of anxiety and the stresses that you have in life, you don't really calm that by going out and doing it. It, it is an internal, trigger. Right? So these are so internally based, you know, like when you concentrate on being poor in spirit. And what does that mean and how does it, you know, affect me internally? It, it, it's, it's a, it's really a roadmap to like. Discovering those blessings that are internal. You know, finding that, that internal joy, like you wanna learn how to find an internal joy, here's a roadmap to it. Yeah. You know what I mean?

[00:12:14] Dr. Nate Salah
Well, and those two, you know, we say joy, have joy. A lot of people think that's a foreign term, right. They kinda understand happiness. But when you said enjoy earlier, like people understand like, I wanna enjoy my life. Yeah. US See, you wanna enjoy a scene. What? You wanna enjoy a movie? Like it's very tangible to people. It's just another way to say it. Like you can actually enjoy life more, not even more. You can enjoy life less transactionally and more tally like because it Holy Yeah. It's, it's Holy with a W. Yes. And holy with an H. Yeah. Right. Both of those. So as we transition now to number six, equally challenging, equally exciting, equally interesting, and equally, with, with a, with an opportunity to uncover some depth to the six B attitude. Blessed are the poor, support. He's confused. She's blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God. Wow.

[00:13:26] Joe Thompson
Yes.

[00:13:27] Dr. Nate Salah
Yes, yes. And I'm, that's a big one. I'm sure, I'm sure when Jesus said it, I'm sure when his, his original hearers and were like, nobody sees God. Right. Right. nobody sees God. I mean, look, Moses saw the spirit, if you will, of God in a way, and he like, he, he like turned gray. You know, he came down from the mountain and he was like, oh, like this guy is like, totally like, changed. Even his own, you know, his, it had a massive impact. So some people think this means, oh, when I, my puran heart allows me to receive salvation, and I get to see God in heaven. That's, that's one way people interpret this. Mm-hmm. However. I don't think that's what Jesus was saying. I think Jesus was saying, you don't have to wait to get to heaven to see God, because the, the language he used, and so he's, he's using terms in the Greek, two words. Ros and cardia are two words, and that, that combine this pure and heart. And, ceros means something that's clean, it's unmixed. It's purified from alloy. It's, it's really free from divided motives. And the cardio refers to the, the center of one's will, your affections, your intentions, your decision making.

[00:15:06]
And so it's not about necessarily behavioral purity, it's about internal clarity. You were talking earlier about vision and clarity, so a heart without mixture. A a will. That's not diluted by competing motives. A life isn't divided. And when you have clarity, Hey friend, it's your friend, Dr. Nate Salah. If you're tired of leading in isolation, if you're wondering if anyone else is trying to build a business and a life that honors God, let me tell you, you're not alone. That's why we created the G3. [00:16:09] Joe Thompson
Together you can see things you couldn't see when you were clouded. You can see God. You can see God active in your life.

[00:16:18] Dr. Nate Salah
You can see God active in your work. You can see God active in the world. You can begin to see God in places that you never knew God was. And that's why I believe one of the, the, the scriptural prayers is, you know, God give me ice to see you want pure ice to see, and that purity. A motive is really important and you know this in law, motive is everything, right? Mm-hmm. Motive is the difference between life in prison, life in prison, 20 years.

[00:16:53] Travis Revelle
Right? Right, right.

[00:16:56] Dr. Nate Salah
And, and that's, sorry. I've been told that's always right because, and so that's what Law and Order told me. Yeah. Watching the television show.

[00:17:08] Joe Thompson
No comment.

[00:17:10] Dr. Nate Salah
I think all of us, every leader, every parent, every family person, all of us has to wrestle with this, this question of, of motive, not just what we're doing, but why we're doing it. You know, that's, that's a, that's a key.

[00:17:25] Travis Revelle
And I think especially, I don't know if anybody else feels like the world has just like gone crazy the past five years, you know what I mean? Like in just multiple different ways, right? but I think that. I think that these, especially this one, right, like hits home because I think a lot of people right now are just struggling with what are, what, what, what do they need to do in life, right? Like, because you know, it's funny, like my, yeah, I talk to my parents and they're, they're from obviously different generation and you know, they'll, they'll gimme some advice and if I took their advice, like. It would have zero impact. Right?

[00:18:09] Dr. Nate Salah
Like zero, like maybe less than zero. You know what I mean? And I love 'em to death. Right. But like their worldview is so outdated on what is currently happening. Right. Like, and so like our generation, right? And I even will put myself in your gener, right? Like our generations right. Are, are, are like. This is uncharted territory. Oh, hands down. There is no, there's no parenting book. There's no business book, right? Like they're writing books now to try to catch up to like, how do you operate in this world? And yet, if we go back 2000 years, there is something that maintains consistency no matter what is happening in the, in the external world. That you can, you can use as an application to calm your mind, to make better decisions, to live more wholly Right. With a w and an agent. Yeah. And, and I think that, that like, take everything away from Jesus. Like, 'cause I'm sure there are some people on here who might not be religious, right? Like they, they're just looking at it like, Hey, this is interesting, right? Like, meet Jesus on this level, right? Like. To then meet him on another level, hopefully in the future. But on this level, just as a, as a strategist and just as a, a life guide, right? And, and like we all said, none of us do this a hundred percent of the time. None of us are ever gonna do this a hundred percent of the time. But to have a clear path to follow, to have that vision, right, to understand that this is, this is, this is a, a, a principle to follow. I think is extremely impactful, even more so today than probably 2000 years ago because the world is so crazy today.

[00:20:02] Dr. Nate Salah
Yeah. There's so many more, issues today than there were then. I mean, and, and it's, it's become, of course, like you said, the rapidly changing aspect. It's like every six months is a reset. Yeah. Like you said, even a parenting book written two years ago, it's like, forget about it. Yeah. It's not, or, or anything for that matter. Anything. It's almost like the tax code, like I, I used to take, like tax classes, like why it's, the code's always changing. I mean, you can take a basic one, you know, or like a, but this life, this, this world is constantly adapting every six months exponential growth. And, and, and because of that, these principles are, as you said, even. More, I don't need to say more relevant, but they, they have a, they have a, A wider, they have a wider span now. Yeah. 'cause our lives. Are much more complicated. Hey friend, it's your friend, Dr. Nate Salah. If you're tired of leading in isolation, if you're wondering if anyone else is trying to build a business and a life that honors God, let me tell you, you're not alone. That's why we created the G3 community. This is a space where kingdom-minded leaders grow together. We share wisdom. We pray for one another, and we take all. Old steps in our calling. That sounds like your kind of tribe. Come join us, head to G3 tribe.com or find us on Facebook, grow, give, go together.

[00:21:45] Travis Revelle
It just gives you, it gives you something to like fall back upon because I don't. I don't think that humans are meant to advance at the speed that we are currently. And, and it's not humans, right? Like it's, it's obviously it's ai, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's computers, right? Like it's, our inventions are advancing faster than our, our, our brains and our evolutionary traits can, can keep up to protect us. You know what I mean? I read this really interesting thing and it, it was, it was talking about how, because of technology moving so fast. Evolution can't keep up. And so it can't provide the tools for us to continue to grow, to protect ourselves anymore. Like we are vulnerable to our creations just from a mental, emotional right, like aspect of it. And so I think in times like this, you have to find like. What is going to be my rock? What is going to be my ethos, right? What am I going to do? Because if I don't have that, then I am just floating and I am just going where the waves take me, and that might not be where I want to go, you know? So I think that it's extremely applicable today across parenting, across mental health, across business leadership.

[00:23:10]
Right. Like all the things in places where traditionally men, right, don't have these conversations, but we are viewed as society, as needing to be the ones who can handle it and can just move along with it. And we're the leaders and we're the protectors, and we're the guiders, and we're all these things. I think that, you know, there's not, there's not a lot of other things that we can go kind of turn to and say, Hey. This is gonna help me, you know, be a better person, treat people better, put me in alignment with my, with my, my, my God. it's gonna allow me to enjoy my life better. Like if this wasn't written by Jesus, but it was written by Dr. Nate Salah in 2026, and this was your How to Have a happy Life, people would eat it up. You know what I mean?

[00:24:00] Dr. Nate Salah
Yeah. Because they have a preconceived notion of Jesus.

[00:24:03] Travis Revelle
Correct. They don't know how and they don't know. Right. And that, and that's, that's what's so kind of messed up about us. You know what I mean? Like it's messed up about it because it was Jesus. You're not going, you're gonna think.

[00:24:14] Dr. Nate Salah
Yeah, it's religious, not it's s it's not for me.

[00:24:16] Travis Revelle
They're just gonna like pour this stuff on me and I'm, they're gonna try to convert me. Right. Right. Instead of saying like, Hey, and that's why I'm telling people like, if you're not religious, okay, that's your deal. Right. Like, I'm not here to like try to processize to you and change your mind right now, evangelize to you, but just look at it from the practical standpoints. Right, like if you follow these steps, right, you can clearly see that not all of your problems, but a lot of your problems may be mitigated and you may have a better plan for how to tackle the problems that aren't mitigated by rooting yourself into this philosophy before you speak.

[00:24:48] Dr. Nate Salah
That is a perfect example. I think of this teaching what you just said. You may not even realize it, but I'm gonna explain it to you. The purity of your motive to help others. Recognize their possibility in life that is so much greater than what they're experienced. Simply by applying these principles and not having any strings attached because you care about people, is a, is an honest representation of the purity in heart that Jesus is talking about. And here's what I'm gonna say, for they shall see

[00:25:27] Joe Thompson
God. People will see God in you because you're. Portraying God's love with no strings attached. That's a good place to be.

[00:25:43] Dr. Nate Salah
Joe, when you hear pure in heart, I know you're the kind of guy you, I knew you were gonna do this. We've known each other a long time. There we go. Good thing there weren't video cameras and all the recording devices back in the day, right? no comment. No comment.

[00:26:05] Joe Thompson
Right. So pure and heart, no mixed motives. Hmm. What does that mean to you? Well, for me it's a behavior. You know, it's overcoming the, I think the small things that constantly set us back as like really good Christians. Mm-hmm. So the moment you take your, your mind off of, hello, the expectations that I think, come to you as being a Christian, then that stuff sneaks in, you know, and it starts to pollute your heart because we, we, we judge, we judge people by their purity of heart. Like, is this a good person? Is this a good person? We don't look at how smart they are or, you know, even all the good deeds they do, we look at 'em as what are they like, what are they like as a person? Right? And you can tell really good people when you meet them, right? People that aren't, that don't have a motive. Like you talk to people, sometimes you could tell like they're talking to me. 'cause they're, they have a motive or they have an agenda or they, I think people who are pure of heart, they, they don't, exist on that plane. I think they don't, put things first that, give them gratification.

[00:27:54] Travis Revelle
You know what I mean? Who comes to your mind? Like who, who in your world? When I think of pure of heart? Yeah, like who comes who? Like is there anybody that like pops in your head? Because there's somebody who pops in my head that we all know.

[00:28:06] Joe Thompson
Well, I mean Santa Claus, I hate to say it because he's in the room outside of, outside of, outside of the person in this room.

[00:28:10] Travis Revelle
Tell you he is just talking about himself.

[00:28:16] Dr. Nate Salah
I don't really wanna, I was gonna say right, I was gonna say me.

[00:28:18] Travis Revelle
So like obviously if you know me, D Croix, to me, you think your heart. Like, she kind of embodies this, right? Like, I feel like she's somebody who doesn't really have a motive. You know what I'm saying? Like, people like that are rare, you know, especially in like, I think the level of business that we do, it's rare. It's rare to find people who don't have a motive. And I, I can't even say like, I usually have a motive, right? Like, right. I mean, I'm just being honest, right? Like if I'm, if I'm, if I'm doing business like. I have, there's obviously a, a want that I'm, that I'm striving for. Right. and I don't think, I don't think that, that doesn't make me pure in heart necessarily. Right. But I, I find there's very few people that I've come across in my life that I feel like just purely are, just want to do the right thing.

[00:29:10] Joe Thompson
Yeah. My wife comes to mind. Yeah. Oh, she's, she's very, oh. Unconditionally loving of people. Uhhuh like she treats everybody with like the most respect and, you know, wanting them to always feel good about themselves and everything. but kind of take this in a, in a, in a little bit of a different directions. 'Cause we're all busy, like the three of us are busy constantly, right. If you notice like Jesus in the Bible with whatever he is doing, he's never really in a hurry. No. You notice that? Yeah. Like make, you know, even making the blind guy see, you know, he takes his time with it. Right. And I think there's, there's a sort of pure of heart that you have to have to focus on the present and what's in front of you. Then having something in front of you and looking towards the next thing. Right? Like super guilty of that. Right. And you know, we always teach in customer service and things like that. Wait on the person in front of you, focus on a person in front of you. Right? But in a day-to-day life, we don't necessarily do that.

[00:30:25]
Maybe we're talking to a friend on the phone who has a problem and like you're typing at the same time. Right. Um. I think if you focus on pure of heart, that now concentration, that being in present in the room, being present with the person who's in front of you and not thinking, you know what I gotta do next, what I gotta do tomorrow, you know what's on the schedule. I think that's a great example of, of pure, of heart. Is, is, is being in that moment and not putting any kind of, importance on what's next.

Yeah. So I read this interesting article and I was talking about, it was from this like Tibetan monk and I was talking about how we spend so much time living what he said and not reality. This is how he described it, right? He said the past has already happened, so it's not real, right? The future is going to happen, but it's also not real. The only thing real in our lives is like the present moment right now that's happening, and even that is fleeting, right? So it's not really real. And humans spend so much of their time. Agonizing over past decisions or so much of their time focused on future states that haven't occurred yet. Right? That we spend zero time focused on the moment that is actually real in front of us right now. So that kind of, in a way, kind of reinforces that, right? Like to be pure and hard and to have that type of clarity is to understand that right now this is, this is my entire world.

[00:32:10]
Right. This is the only thing that's real in my world. And quantum physics talks about superposition where there's multiple different timelines and everything's happening, but it doesn't become real until you are visualizing it, right? Until you actually look at what's happening. And so I think that that's also right, a good lesson for people in this world where everything is so the future is so crazy, right? And nobody really has any idea. But we have all this anxiety about what could happen and what might happen. And all of this that we spend zero time just focused on right now, who are we talking to? How can we make an impact? How can we do something good or, or do the things right in that exact moment? And I think that when you said that, it just kind of clicked, kicked that thought process off in my head.

[00:33:02] Joe Thompson
Yeah. The being in the moment that's, you know, it's not a Christian thing or, you know, a, a religious thing necessarily. There's a, there's a story about a martial art master who, had been away from his family for like a year. He hadn't seen him. They were still back in his original country and he was here in the US and he was having tea with a guy who was an author who was kind of, you know, interviewing him and, uh. Someone brought the master a letter from his family, right, who he hadn't seen in a year or communicated to at all, and he took the letter and he put it down by his side and continued his conversation with the guy in front of him. Now, you know, the angst, you would have to, right, wanna see what's in the letter. But what was important to him was being in that moment, you know, with that person. And, and not moving it. And I, and, and I, and I think there's a real purity in being able to, to do that. I think people relate to you when you are present with them, you know? Like I'm told a lot, you, you relate, everybody relates to you, like everybody, like it's a, uh. A trick that I have to get people to relate to me, but it's really not, it's just like spending a real moment with somebody, like really trying to know who they are and not focusing on the weather, but who they're as a person. It's an easy way to shore up a, a, a bad company too, in case.

[00:34:37] Dr. Nate Salah
Yeah. And, and, and that doesn't make your motives mixed, by the way. It's very important to know that. It's to distinguish that. We all have motives. The, the pure and heart just doesn't have a mixed motive. Singular motive, correct. Yeah, singular motive. Yeah. However, here's the thing. What is the singular motive from Jesus's teachings Love, right? It's the singular motive. Okay? From that stems all decisions. And so for example, you might say, well, if I get to know this person and I spend time with them, I'm going to earn business. Then one person might say, well, isn't that a mixed motive? Because I'm really thinking of myself, well what, what is that earning the business to? Well, it feeds your family. Mm-hmm. It provides for the needs. It serves a purpose to help these people. So it's not necessarily that it's a mixed motive, it's that's a package motive. Right. Right. That's a, and we, we have to, we have to like distinguish that because someone might be, you know, in a seasonal life, they're like, Hey, look, right now I can't even see straight. And I don't know if I can't see God well. Let's talk about those unpacking sauna. Mm-hmm. Right. Unpack some of those motives, unpack some of that decision making, because sometimes it's the, it's the enemy who's, you know, another, interestingly, we talk about mixed motives is also a division. The enemy is the divider, the one who gets between. So you may actually have purity of heart. The enemy is, is attempting to, to cloud your judgment. Whether or not you're welcome with God, that's his job.

[00:36:12] Travis Revelle
I mean, that's what he does, right?

[00:36:14] Dr. Nate Salah
So, yeah. So we need, we need to, we need to, to not only rebuke that, but again, get back to clarity. And you've said this many times, Joe, clarity is what, or it's power, right? And that's what Jesus is saying. Like, and a lot of this, honestly, a lot of this is a, is stumbling around strength and power. And he's saying, look, there's such great power in our motives being distilled. Into that framework that says, I'm going to love, I love God, I'm gonna love people, and through that I'm going to enjoy life. And all the ways that you have enjoyment, both internally, both externally? Both. Im materially. Both materially. All of those contribute. God isn't saying, Hey. Pure of heart, you're just gonna go sell everything. Mother Teresa. Yeah. Right. He's not saying that. Yeah. Yeah. If that, if that's your calling, that's your calling. You'll know. Yeah, right, right. You'll know. Right. And you'll also know if there is something that is standing between you and being able to see God's clear, you'll be able to know if there's a clouded in that relationship simply by waking up and observing where my heart is.

[00:37:29] Joe Thompson
And understanding Jesus's definition of powern'cause I think it's very different from the way we think of power. Like we think of power and physical strength or position of authority, or you know, what you're able to, to accomplish. I think Jesus's definition of power is based on sacrifice. Like hands on. If you can sacrifice, that's as strong, uh. A person as you can be, regardless of what it is you're sacrificing. Like for him it was his life. for us it's, you know, it's time, treasures, talents, things we give up for other people. you know, being the guy in the room that will be the doer. You know, like, I'll do it. Send me yada. Mm-hmm. I think understanding that power. Jesus is invoking is is different I think than what we think.

[00:38:37] Travis Revelle
It's internal power we think of compared to external power. Yeah, it's power. And I think right, like the more, the more we figure out the human body, right? The more we understand how much power our minds have to change our bodies, right? To change like our thinking. We were talking earlier, foresight. Hindsight, right? Is, is, is a, is a, is a tool, right? It's a superpower, but it's also probably one of the biggest issues that humans have is the ability mentally to, to, to go different places. And what you, what you, your thoughts become, your actions become. Your brain rewires itself from neuroplasticity, right? Like if you think negative thoughts all the time, your brain is going to start looking in the world for negative things to reinforce that thought, right? Like, so the power of the mind is we can't even scratch the surface on how powerful our minds are, right? And so I think like what you're saying is, this is not power is I'm a king, I'm a president, I'm a CEO, I can control, it's in, it's the power. To, to be clear in your mind, to focus on the good things so that you continually grow and do more good things and, and, and, and you.

[00:39:52] Dr. Nate Salah
And the, the, apparent, conundrum for many is that the greatest power is found in surrender, which is how this entire Beatitude series started. And so when I surrender. The hidden motives I've been afraid to look at is when the purium heart is a condition that God forms in me, and that's where clarity is born. And so for each of us, it's not a destination, it never was. Right? It's always an orientation, right? It's, it's, it's literally changing how I view my day, my life, my week, my experience, my environment. It's just, as Paul said before, you take communion or the Lord's Supper, what does he say? Examine yourself. It's this daily self-examination, not for condemnation. By the way, for consecration, he wants us to take an inventory of where our heart is, we are clarity lies, and simply release it to him. It doesn't have to be complicated, it doesn't have to be overdone, but in the moment, before a conversation, before a board meeting, before a deal's done. Before anything happens in my day, Lord, help me to purify my heart. Help me to walk in the clarity that only you can be seen in everything I do and everyone I meet.

[00:41:22] Joe Thompson
Well that's a good place to stop. That's me.

[00:41:33] Dr. Nate Salah
Yeah, that's a good, we got it brothers. Nice. Good bro. Hey, we're back online. Yeah. 40 minutes in. Yeah, it's good stuff. All right, well next week we'll hit it again and, we're gonna do this, we're gonna do this entire series in a row. No interruptions for the rest of this series. I know it's a tall order. The guys didn't know that, by the way, whoever's listening, you can see that looks on their face. Just thought, we're gonna do it. we're gonna do it for you and we want to do it for us. And, and just, continue to, give you this, uh. Give you what we've been learning, and obviously you see, for if you're listing or if you're watching, we don't spend a lot of time talking about this. It's a short convo beforehand. And, just a tiny bit of, of, of review and just letting God lead the convo conversation.

[00:42:26] Travis Revelle
Yeah. And for anybody out there who, who wants more, right? Like we've got multiple different ways to connect with us. There's the Facebook group. you know, all the links will be on the website. Yeah. You know, so do the chat. you know, we, we'd love to continue the conversation on deeper levels, so reach out to us and strike up a conversation.

[00:42:47] Dr. Nate Salah
