Mel Bampton Presents...How Human
This podcast is all about exploring what it means to be human. What traits, qualities and experiences we share, no matter how different we are and in searching for and celebrating our differences, finding our similarities.
Do you ever find yourself plagued with uncertainty? Paralysed by self-doubt? Are you ever confused about what to do, how to behave, what to say or even what to feel? Being human is weird. It comes with no instruction manual, it’s riddled with contradictions and as we age we seem to get less and more wise, just when we think we’ve figured something out, everything changes, again.
This podcast is that missing handbook - in which we go deeper than just the details of the stories and by looking through different lenses, we find the things that truly make us…human.
My name is Mel Bampton, I’m a presenter, a speaker, an author and a therapist and in this series I’m bringing all those things together to help you agonise a little less by understanding a little more the things that are fundamentals, not flaws, of what it means to be one of this bizarre and curious species.
This is the podcast where you learn to become a little kinder to yourself by first and foremost understanding what you fundamentally are.

Grown Up By The Most Powerful Women In The World with Holly Rhodes
What happens when you’re on a very straighty one eighty trajectory climbing the conditioned tiers of Christion upbringing, devoted wife, mother and Corporate CEO and then for the first time you take magic mushrooms at a festival in Portuagal and you have your mind blown out of the crown of your head, along with everything that was programmed into you to that point, and suddenly all you thought life was, is no longer holding true?
For Trauma-Informed Educator, Holly Rhodes it set in motion an odyssey of grand exploration - uprooting everything in her luxurious very corporate London life to find out what the hell happened in that pyschedelic experience and found herself going so deep into different spiritual studies, to living life between her new found place in the Kimberley region of northern Australia as well as with the phenomenal Aboriginal Women Elders of Balgo, who schooled her about life, the universe and everything, in one of the most remote Indigenous communities, with some of the most powerful law and knowledge keepers, in the world. This is a story of going where you never thought your life could go, to places and people you didn’t even know existed, by giving yourself permission to simply step through those doors one after another as they open up in front of you and find a purpose that no school counsellor ever offered up as possibility.
Special and vital acknowledgment to the Law Women of Kapululangu and Auntie Alison and the Mutitjulu Law Women for the work they do with the women's culture camps. If you're interested in the next one 28th March - 1st April 2023, you can email desertwomenscamps@gmail.com for more info & the application form.
