Welcome to Eden and Amadeus, the podcast Lots of talk about today, including, I saw a movie.
Speaker 2:I want to hear all about it and yet I so don't. Also, the group Tiger Lily Gold joins us. These are two young ladies. They are sisters, Kristen and Kendra, and they have a new song out called I Try to Ring On. It's a great country song and we're going to be chatting with them. Of course, we've got your Battle of the Sexes recap and the questions that we've been asking all week long on Facebook. We're going to kind of go over those a little bit as well. But let's just get right into Deadpool and Wolverine. I am being hypervigilant on social media and trying very hard not to get any spoilers, because I will not see it for two more days.
Speaker 1:I was the same way. I know that's on me. Yeah, I was the same way the last couple of months, especially Anything that looked like it could be a spoiler, because you know I get a lot of these things in my feed because I'm a nerd.
Speaker 3:I was having to just go past them.
Speaker 1:On the way to the theater, my friend was like oh, did you look at IMDb and see who all's in it? And I'm like no.
Speaker 2:Oh, why would you do that?
Speaker 1:anyway, don't tell me, I want that surprise.
Speaker 2:Yes, that's part of it.
Speaker 1:And there are so many cameos in this one versus like in the first two Deadpools. They were kind of like standalone, but now that he's entering the MCU you know they had to do all these crossover things. Go, Go ahead.
Speaker 2:Okay. So you know what? I'm not going to ask any. I'm afraid if I ask anything I'm setting myself.
Speaker 1:Well, here's the thing, I'm just going to be quiet. But here's the thing, I will answer anything you ask. Carefully, if you want to ask something.
Speaker 2:Well, I'm not. I'm not, but I will ask this question because it won't lead to a spoiler. People should watch the first two if they haven't already. Right? What if somebody had not seen either of the two?
Speaker 1:I've not seen any X-Men movies, so I watched Deadpool 1 and 2 on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
Speaker 2:Uh-huh.
Speaker 1:Rewatched. There's little things, yeah, rewatched, of course. There's little things like just little things that I know they do a lot in these movies. Yeah, and I've got to be honest, there wasn't as many things from Deadpool 1 and 2 as there are from the MCU and like the Marvel TV shows on Disney Plus, because they're folding all that in, and so I would say at this point, if you're not caught up, you're just not caught up.
Speaker 2:Although it's easy to get caught up anytime you're going to watch. So what I do sometimes is, in a situation now I'm not going to do it for this, because I am too hyper aware of spoiler opportunities for people, but sometimes what I'll do is, if I don't have time to go back and watch all the movies, I'll look on YouTube for a recap that was made after the creator has already seen the new movie, because then I know they are certainly going to include things we need to know. That's why sometimes, when a show will come on that we're watching, that's weekly, or even if we're binging it, my husband will want to scroll through the previously on, whatever, and I always say no, don't, because they might go all the way back. Sometimes they'll include something from a season ago in that previously on, because they know that you won't remember it. So even if you just watched the episode before it five minutes ago, I still want to see the previously on.
Speaker 1:Me and my best friends do the same thing Every Sunday night. We were watching a show at any given time and his wife is always like, just skip that. And we're like no, because they may talk about something from, like you said, months or years ago, something, yeah, completely old, that they're going to retouch on on this episode.
Speaker 2:you know we need to be reminded of that so that's why I was thinking, uh, youtube something since, especially since I've never seen any of the x-men movies yeah, and and that obviously with wolverine being in this, that's a huge, huge thing.
Speaker 1:And the x-men movies are not only the 20th century fox movies. But then logan is outside of that universe. That was hugh jackman's movie to end that character right and so there's a lot of that folded into this movie which I did watch a recap of logan of logan. Okay, good, good, good, good, good. This movie I will say this, not a spoiler. This is a very emotional film.
Speaker 1:I can't wait, I like I didn't bring tissues and I wish my friend that I went with did. He always brings tissues and he was wiping his tears at the end.
Speaker 1:At the end of the movie. You're always waiting for those post-credit scenes, and I say this on the radio this is the first movie I've ever remembered where people didn't sit on the edge of their seats and talk to each other while the credits were rolling to wait for that. Everyone sat completely and I mean completely silent through the entire credits and I think everyone was doing what I was doing, just trying to, like, regain composure and wipe the tears. And it's a lot. It is a lot, it is a lot.
Speaker 2:It's great is what.
Speaker 1:I'm hearing you say I think I'm going to go see it again, either tonight or tomorrow night. It's great, is what I'm hearing you say.
Speaker 2:I think I'm going to go see it again either tonight or tomorrow night. It's just so good. Well, that being said, I think we better stop while we're ahead.
Speaker 1:Yes.
Speaker 2:Now, the questions we asked over on our Gator Country Facebook page all week long really seemed to hit nerves, One of them being what is the most useless thing you've memorized? That was maybe my favorite of the week, because people were chiming in with whether it was an anagram to try to remember something for school, whether it was the preamble to the Constitution, their car, the license plate on the first car not that they drove, but they ever rode in.
Speaker 1:That's crazy.
Speaker 2:Come on. National Anthem, pledge of Allegiance is something obviously everyone has memorized, until they're on the spot to do it, and then they're like, oh no.
Speaker 1:And the more we were talking to people, either on the air or reading these, the more you and I were remembering things that we remembered.
Speaker 2:The dialogue that we had forgot. The dialogue from my Spanish book, my first ever Spanish book in seventh grade. Estás susana en casa si estás con una amiga. Esta susana en casa si esta con una amiga.
Speaker 1:And there were two license plates in my neighborhood that I grew up in that I remembered, I don't know why COB 832-801-LKU, I just, and I was like maybe 10. Right, and to this day I can see them and I can and I remember them.
Speaker 2:And yet, when you pull into a parking lot where you have to enter your plate number, yeah, we have to take pictures of those. We don't remember the current ones.
Speaker 1:I've got a picture on my phone right now of ours. More frequently I have to use the radio station's tag number for parking. I've got the picture pulled up. I can't remember it. Another great question we had was the last thing you bought from Amazon is what you'll have to defend yourself in the zombie apocalypse.
Speaker 2:That was a lot of fun. We have a weak army. I'll be running away because the last thing I had bought on Amazon was running shoes.
Speaker 1:Most recently thing that I received, because last weekend I bought a lot of furniture. I'm kind of like redoing my place right now so I got a new chest of drawers. It's kind of like you ever see these chest of drawers now that have like they're like cloth drawers.
Speaker 2:Yes, of course.
Speaker 1:Yeah, like cloth drawers. Yes, of course. Yeah, I've never seen those. Yeah, like bins. I've never seen those until last weekend. I was like searching for something kind of light and I got. I got it yesterday and I can't wait to put it together.
Speaker 2:They come all the way out and they're like a box, right?
Speaker 1:yeah, exactly perfect yeah, because, because another question we had was what do you have too much of? And I've got so many dang t-shirts yep, well.
Speaker 2:Well, that's nice too, though, that you can pull that bin all the way out then and you can sort through your t-shirts. Some of you guys collect things like flashlights Weird, but you do you.
Speaker 1:You know what I'm going to start doing with these drawers, what We've talked about me organizing my t-shirts. Each drawer is going to be for a different week, so when I do laundry, I'll do one drawer that's for this week, next week, the week after, so I'll know each drawer.
Speaker 2:That's how many damn t-shirts I have that's a lot of t-shirts. It's ridiculous, but what's great about that is when you do your laundry, you only have to organize one drawer. True every time every week, absolutely we mentioned at this, at the top of this, that we spoke with the ladies from tiger lily gold, so, with no further ado, why don't we just jump right into that interview and then we will replay all of the battle of the sexes that ran this week?
Speaker 4:Hey y'all.
Speaker 5:What's up? Hey, what's up.
Speaker 4:I love the energy this morning.
Speaker 2:You're the ones who set that pace with your hello.
Speaker 1:We were just talking about going to Nashville too, and how nice it'll be and cool when we get there.
Speaker 2:Oh well, I mean not right now. We're talking about November.
Speaker 4:Oh, November is going to be great. Right now it's very, very hot still, but yeah, November will be great.
Speaker 1:Yes, November is going to be great. Right now it's very, very hot still, but yeah, november will be great. Yes, same in Florida. It's so hot it's like walking in an oven out here.
Speaker 4:Yeah, we're North Dakota girls too. This humidity is a whole like. We did not experience that growing up. We experienced the bitter, cold winters, but the humidity and the heat and the summer in the south, that's a whole other thing. It's cooking.
Speaker 1:I don't know if I know anybody from North Dakota. I don't either. It's so funny.
Speaker 2:Tell us why we should visit North Dakota.
Speaker 5:Honestly, if you want to get away from people, it's the best place to be.
Speaker 1:Oh my gosh, you have no idea.
Speaker 5:It's the wide open spaces Great outdoors, and the people are lovely. I'm telling you, there's a beautiful national park. I think it's so underrated so I always encourage people to go see it. You can't just go to South Dakota, you have to go all the way up, yep.
Speaker 2:If only there was a sister act that sang about wide open spaces.
Speaker 4:That is what they were singing about.
Speaker 1:I increasingly hate people, so this sounds like the place I need to go.
Speaker 2:As he gets older, he needs wide open spaces. Well, congratulations, you guys. It's an album release day for everybody and we want to hear all about Blonde and we want to hear we love your single.
Speaker 5:We love it. Thank you so much. Oh, thank you. Yeah, blonde took us three years to make, which is crazy, but we've been a band for 12 years. So this've been a band for 12 years. So this has been a long time coming, but Blonde is all about channeling that bold inner confidence, not being afraid to poke fun at yourself when life doesn't go your way. We want this album to come across in three words girl group energy. I want you to feel bold, sassy, confident. We chose 10 songs that show all 10 different sides of us and we are really proud of the record.
Speaker 1:Wow, and this album started out as an EP, right.
Speaker 4:Yeah, so it was an EP of four or five songs, I believe, and then turned into this record. So a lot of the songs have, you know, been out for a while, so people can kind of start to choose their favorites. But there's a few songs that have never been heard and we're really, really excited for people to hear those now that the album's out.
Speaker 1:You guys started out. You're like, oh, here's four or five sides of us, but wait, there's ten sides of us. We're like onions.
Speaker 4:But wait, there's more. You know, the fact that there's two of us, I will say, helps a lot because we can cover a lot of ground on material, because we are going through very, very different things in life. Even though you know we're two years apart, we're sisters, we do share a lot of the same experiences, but as well as very different ones.
Speaker 5:So that's why there's so much different material covered.
Speaker 2:Life, for better or for worse, keeps giving us material to write about, so we're going to keep doing that Well could you guys introduce yourselves real quick to everybody and for those who are just getting to know Tiger Lily Gold and explain what you mean when you're going through very different things from each other.
Speaker 4:Yeah, so I'm Kendra and then Krista is over here and we're sisters. We're from North Dakota originally and we grew up singing together, touring the Midwest, and then, in 2017, ended up moving down to Nashville to chase this dream, played down on Broadway for about three years doing the four-hour cover gigs. Then, you know, we found ourselves in a record deal with Monument Records, which was just such a blessing for us, and we've been touring and recording music ever since. But our whole goal in country music is to bring that girl group energy. I mean, we loved growing up on people who made us feel confident and heard, like you know, the Judds or the Chicks or Destiny's Child or TLC or Spice Girls. I mean, when you listen to those kind of groups, you just feel unstoppable, and that's the kind of vibe we want to bring to country music.
Speaker 1:You have that vibe. I was just telling Eden today. I don't follow anyone on Instagram, but I was following you guys and I told Eden this morning like I just want to be a fan of these girls, like I just want them to do well.
Speaker 2:Oh, thank you Same. I was explaining to him the trend about like, when I was trying to get him to do this with me I'm like flowy shorts and a baseball cap, flowy shorts and a baseball cap. He's like I'm not doing that.
Speaker 4:I'm like come on Marvel T-shirt.
Speaker 2:Marvel T-shirt and black headphones.
Speaker 4:You know what's funny? Social media girl from Monument Records. She was out with us on the road that week and she's like okay, there's this trend. And I'm like, what are we? You know? And the funny thing is that video probably got more views than you know half of our music did.
Speaker 5:It's a trend, I'm like oh my God, Whatever gets the music out? Stupid algorithms, yeah.
Speaker 1:I loved it and I didn't even know it was trend, so I can see why.
Speaker 2:That's great. Well, the girl group energy comes through loud and clear, and it's fun that you brought up Spice Girls. We are old enough that we played Spice Girls on the radio and I actually was able to interview them back in the day, and there's a clip that they put in one of their documentaries where you hear me asking them about girl power.
Speaker 2:And they're like do you have girl power? And that's what I think of when I think of you guys. You know you're bringing that girl energy and I'm sure there's a lot of little girls that are just going to love that.
Speaker 5:Hey, obviously we want everybody to feel welcome to the party, but we do feel a responsibility as women to encourage that next generation of country music artists.
Speaker 4:The other day we were doing a show and we were feeling pretty tired and Crystal looks at me and she says we do this for all women everywhere. And I said, yes, you're right, when we don't feel our best, we still have to feel our best for everybody we're talking to out there.
Speaker 1:That is a great mantra to have before every stage show. Before you walk on stage, you're like we're doing this for every woman everywhere On your Instagram page. I was looking at the video, for I Try to Ring On and I got to be honest it pulls at your heartstrings some.
Speaker 5:Yeah, that song. I mean, this is Krista, but I've been through a lot of different personal experiences in and out of a relationship and back into one. That's very great right now. Out of a relationship and back into one that's very great right now. But that song it just talks about the frustrating feeling of having to start over again, when you thought you had forever with somebody and it's still the last couple lines of the chorus are I'm sure I'll get over you being gone. I just feel stupid. I try to ring on and I just feel like that emotion was not talked about as much in breakup songs.
Speaker 1:Yeah, you're right, I agree. And why did you guys choose to shoot that like in church pews?
Speaker 5:Oh, it was like the wedding you never had, you know, very dramatic. Ah, okay, I get it, I get it yeah. And we wore black. It was like mourning the death of the relationship Ah.
Speaker 1:Wow.
Speaker 4:Super uplifting, yes, but we do have more uplifting songs. But that is our current single at Country Radio. It just hit top 40, which we're so excited about and, to you know, we wrote it from one perspective. But to see people bring their own stories into that song, you know, whether you maybe mentally try to ring on, maybe you physically did, maybe you got engaged, called it off, maybe you were divorced. Whatever your story is, I think just to know that we're not alone in what we're going through, that's what this song is meant to be.
Speaker 1:And the imagery on that video is haunting. I really loved it.
Speaker 4:Thank you so much. Thank you Robert Shavers, our director. He's incredible and there actually may be something else coming for that song very soon.
Speaker 2:Very nice, so be on the lookout so everyone be on the lookout also for Blonde, and I think we're going to let you guys go and talk to everybody all around the country and we're going to play that song right now. Now that's the part where we actually played their song on the radio. At the end of that, we, of course, rolled right into this song.
Speaker 1:Unfortunately, we can't play that for you here, but we highly recommend you listen to it. I was telling you earlier this morning it's so well produced and they're so good. They sound like they've been around forever.
Speaker 2:I agree with you I just I love these girls. And they have been around longer than what you've known. You know, obviously every country act by the time they make it to the radio has put years in on the road for the most and you want more than anything to see them succeed when that happens. And you always want to have somebody succeed in the battle of the sexes, especially when it's a female.
Speaker 3:Let's see how the week shook out. This is a Battle of the Sexes.
Speaker 1:replay here we go Monday morning Battle of the Sexes.
