I hope everyone is having a great day. Great morning so far, wherever you're at in the world.
Welcome to the show. Welcome to the show, baby. Um, today we're going to be talking about having layers. But before we dive into it, I just want to stress the importance of why this show exists. This show exists because I love to help people. I have all the tools
and know-hows to keep myself straight. But I want to share this stuff with people because I care about people. I love helping people. And guess what it helps me to help people. So I love this show. I love helping people. I can't stress that enough. So let's get into it.
I hear somebody asking MDEE why is it important to have layers? Hmm.
Having layers to me is overall to make you a better person.
Help your
mental, physical
and emotional state.

It's also important to have layers to not be such a boring person, or to be boxed in to a specific type of person, if you get what I'm trying to explain.
So I took a few notes in regards to this message this morning. All right. And
these are just some thoughts that I had. As far as the importance of having layers. So often times, people try to categorize you
and limit you to whatever you're doing in life, whatever your profession is, in my opinion.
And this is a powerful statement that I came up with. While I was knocking out my cardio this morning.
I wrote my profession or upbringing doesn't define who I am, or what I'm limited to knowing are achieving.
Now somebody go
because that's some hot sauce I just dropped on you.
Also identify different ways in which people try to measure
us as individuals. There's your profession, your values, skills, hobbies, personal relationships, and social status.

So me having layers within myself, I came up with the statement that I adapt to each of these settings, because there's part of me, that's appropriate for each. I know who I am, and I know how to maneuver around me. Oh, wait another powerful statement, hot sauce.
So let's dive a little deeper into each category. So let's start with profession.
So I was a mechanic professionally for 16 years in the military. I still work on things from time to time, but it's no longer my profession. But while I served,
I discovered that some people thought it was cool that I did hip hop on a site. And I could tell that or had the intuition that some people thought this guy isn't serious about his craft. He's a freakin rapper, for God's sake, you know?
Like seriously, I felt like certain people who treat me like I was under qualified to do my job just because I was good at other things, just because I had layers to myself. But the truth is I have in my
gift of being a musical artists opened me up to great opportunities, I was able to represent my warrant officer class as the song officer. I know a lot of my battle buddies thought I was off the chain as a song officer, I took that stuff seriously me, because I love music, I love to present. And I love everything about it, you know. So I was on top of those jokers about, you know, saying the songs, the Army song, whatever type of song we had to sing, I was on am jokers.
And also, my last unit in the military, I was able to, you know, collaborate with my battalion commander
and did a song for the unit, which I thought was very cool in, you know, I got to experience that. So had I not been a man of many layers or a person of many layers, I would have never got the opportunity. All right, moving on. Let's talk about values. A few more values
are as follows. Don't judge others, be a free thinker. respect all people. Help people if you can always show love, speak up if something isn't right. All right. Now, sometimes my views don't align with the majority. And sometimes I'm going to piss people off. And that's okay. Because at the end of the day, I have the power to state how I feel or
speak up. If I don't agree with some,
everybody don't have that ability.
That's why you have to be a person of layers. You have to be of your own layers.
Let's talk about having different skills. All right, I know how to do a lot of things. And I feel like sometimes that may upset people who feel threatened or jealous for whatever reason. And just to name a few skills, because it takes skills to
submit yourself or submerge yourself into all of these different titles. All of these different things take energy, take effort, okay? So I see myself as a leader, a father, a husband, a son, uncle, a sibling, a audio engineer, a podcaster, or artists, a producer, a songwriter, a marketer, designer, scholar, business owner, excetera. All these things are skills, because it takes energy and effort to be good at them.
I also think that is extremely important to have layers because what happens when you can no longer identify yourself through your job?
I'll tell you, you will need something to fill that void.
Do you ever hear the expression or heard the expression, don't put all your eggs in one basket?
Hmm.
I look at not having layers. That same way. If you are just this person that's all about work, and can identify yourself any other way. You're going to have trouble when you can no longer do that job.
I'm just telling you.
Being a person of layers also allows you the room for growth. I think when you're just entangled are wrapped up, probably shouldn't be us entangled.
I don't want to talk about no entanglements. But uh,
when you're just set on this one thing, you don't allow yourself to be broadened, you know, to you know, allow yourself any room for growth.
I'm not saying don't take your profession or whatever, seriously, but you have to be a person of many things. In order to live life to the fullest, to take advantage of all the different aspects of life, you know, and to learn as much as you can. You have to broaden up you have to be a person
that just tries a little bit of everything. You know, try a little bit of
different beer or try a different meal or try a different workout routine or whatever. But you have to try different things to broaden yourself.
Now, if you don't walk away from this message with anything else I want you to walk away with, don't allow others to box you in or to limit you. You could be a person of layers, you could be a person that loves bodybuilding, you could be a person that loves to cook, you could be a person that loves to work on cars, you could be a person that loves to do music, you could be a person that loves to play piano, you could be a person that loves to do woodworking, you could do whatever you want. Don't allow other people to tell you what you can do, or limit you to whatever they want you to do. Do not allow people to have power over your life that way. I look at myself as a interesting creature.
And I am I take pride in being different. I take pride in you know,
just being who I am. I used to think I was weird when I was a kid. But shit. Looking back, I appreciate who I am. And that's what I want you guys to walk away from this with. Appreciate who you are. And don't allow anyone to box you in or limit you to whatever your profession is. That isn't fair, or that isn't a life worth living. If if that's the only things you're about is your job. Your job will pass.
Are you going to pass along with your job? Or are you going to keep living once you're retired?
Okay, so I hope you all learn something from today's show. I went a little longer than what I wanted to but a it's all good. It's my show. I do what I want to do.
And I know you guys love the content. I appreciate you guys being here. And
just as quick recap. We talked about the importance of having layers. I hope you guys received the message that I was trying to deliver. And if I only helped one person today, that's all right with me. A TGIF. Y'all have a great weekend. It's your boy the veteran so who you thank you better
