EPISODE 019:  Hey there! It’s Dr. Jen, host of Rock ‘N Healthy Lifestyles.  I thought I’d do something a little different for this episode.  A little while back, I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Jason Scheurs, the host of the podcast, Scream Therapy.  Scream Therapy explores how Punk Rock music can affect mental health in a positive way.

So, why was I a guest on Scream Therapy, you ask?   Well, little does my Rock ‘N Healthy Lifestyles audience know but back in the day, that’s the mid to late 70’s to be precise, I was lucky enough to experience Punk Rock in its early inception.  In other words, I was a bit of a “Sheena”, as in Punk Rocker, for those Ramones fans out there.

So, I thought by sharing this Scream Therapy episode, I would give my listening audience a better understanding of my background. And why I believe whole heartedly that music, all kinds of music, is the ultimate of healers.

And if you’re a returning listener or new to tuning in to Rock ‘N Healthy Lifestyles:

I’m Dr. Jen Palladino, a Chiropractor who specializes in the treatment of musician and performing artist injury. Music and the creative arts can change the world. And I’m interested in exploring the passion that music and art evokes in people. Whether it’s playing or listening, or creating or observing. It’s that powerful driving force within the human soul that sparks emotion, unites the masses, bridges language and cultural barriers, and heals the body, mind, and spirit.

So, keep listening especially if you’re into Old School Punk Rock.  You know, like The Clash, The Ramones, The Sex Pistols, Blondie, Generation X, The Dead Boys, Television, Patti Smith.  Old School. On both the New York and the London scenes. That’s right. Because I’m here to tell you all about it…

Scream Therapy is a podcast about using punk rock as a catalyst for mental health.  Host Jason Schreurs welcomes members of the punk music scene who, like him, have lived experience with mental health challenges.
