In 2009, Smith received her degree in Media Communications in Performance and Production from Laney College Oakland, Ca. That same year Smith with the help of Director Taylor Wansley went onto writing, directing and producing the film Sealed Letter, which won Best Short Drama in the New York International film festival. the Sealed Letter also won for best short film by Cast down Imaginations TV 2015.
