When Worry Knocks, Let Prayer Answer

What do you do when worry knocks?

Do you open the door, invite it in, give it a chair—and then spend the rest of the day entertaining every “What if?” it brings with it?

What if there were another response?

Philippians 4:6 gives us a remarkably simple instruction: Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.

Think about that word—everything.

Not just the emergencies. Not just the problems that seem impossible. Everything.

Because worry circles the problem, but prayer gives the problem somewhere to go.

Worry can keep our thoughts traveling around and around the same mountain: What if? What if? What if?

But prayer interrupts the circle. Prayer gives us an opportunity to release what we've been carrying, quiet the mind, open the heart, and become available to a perspective we may not have been able to see while we were worrying.

So today, we're going to explore a different response to life's uncertainties.

When worry knocks...

let prayer answer.

I'm Dr. Cynthia Marie Whitley, and welcome to Be Aware of Your Thoughts, where we remember:

A mind is not a cage.
It is a sacred space.

Take a breath...

and let's begin.
