WOW: Women of Wisdom

Welcome to WOW | Terri Brady

The Shepherd's Church

Welcome to Women of Wisdom (affectionately known as “WOW!”), a women’s Bible study at The Shepherd’s Church in Cary, NC. We are glad you are here!

WOW is a sound Bible study, aimed directly at Biblical literacy and designed for the purpose of glorifying God through group study of His Word. We study with our hearts in relationships, souls in worship, and aim to keep our minds engaged in what His Word intended to communicate at the time and place in which it was written.

The layout of our method is daily personal “homework” and a weekly meeting that includes: a small group discussion, worship through song and a lecture by one of the WOW Lecture Team, Shepherds Theological Seminary professors, or guests who brighten our year with their gifts.

This year we will be studying the book of John.

What you’ve received today:

  • The spiral bound book of homework study questions for John.
  • The Syllabus (The yellow reading schedule found in the back pocket)

What you didn’t receive, but may like to have:

  • A notebook for taking notes during lectures or storing printed lecture handouts.
  • The website for our recorded lectures: https://www.buzzsprout.com/2033316

Our goal is to study God’s Word before studying man’s word about God’s Word. The daily lessons are to guide the excavation of the depth of His Word, and provide some organization to the discussion, but His Word trumps all.  The best commentary is the Bible, and the curriculums were selected based on their use of the Bible as its own commentary.

Prayer is the first step of daily Bible study, so each day before looking at the syllabus for what to do, the first step is PRAYER. Next, the Bible passage should be read. And finally, questions can be answered. If questions seem difficult or a busy week left too many blanks, please come to the discussion group anyway! If the questions seem easy, expand the study on your own, then come and see how the Lord uses you in the lives of others. We love to see how the Lord blesses WOW friendships while iron sharpens iron in WOW and beyond.
May God cheer and guide your study in Him!
