In an unusual departure from the usual format of Shakespearean prose and grade-school humor, Adam and Jeff talk with Dr. Fuxian Yi about his predictions that China will not be able to overtake the United States as the leading economic global power due to its rapidly ageing population.  Having polished up his command of the English language with 4 lessons from a computerized language course, Jeff reads Dr. Xi's written responses to Jeff's previously submitted questions about China's future.  In short, Dr. Xi predicts that China's population will decline from almost 1.4 billion now to less than 400 million by the year 2100--thus calling into question how China can double or triple its GDP over the next few decades when there will be increasingly fewer people to work in  its factories or purchase homes, appliances, cars and the complete works of the Omaha Bugle.  As a result, Dr. Xi predicts that China will go the way of Japan and see its GDP and its population steadily fall.   Over time, China will likely cease to be the ascendant superpower that it has so desperately sought to be for the past four decades and instead be relegated to the middle ranks of world powers.  Dr. Xi also points out that few efforts to encourage Chinese couples to have more children have been successful--due in large part to the fact that any government incentives such as subsidized child-care amount to little more than a drop in the bucket when compared to the costs of raising a child to adulthood.
