30. Embrace Painful Changes for Personal Growth

Justin Arrington

Can you imagine undergoing a painful transformation to become the person you were meant to be? On this milestone 30th episode of the Freedom First Podcast, we explore the profound lessons of resilience and renewal through the captivating, albeit mythical, story of an eagle's rebirth. Reflecting on our journey, I express immense gratitude for the incredible consistency we've achieved. By examining the eagle’s arduous process of breaking down to rebuild itself, we delve into the powerful metaphor of personal growth. The key takeaway? Facing life's challenges head-on and choosing to embrace painful changes instead of surrendering.

We further underscore the importance of embracing discomfort and pushing through it to achieve personal growth. Like the transformative journey of the eagle, I stress the need to surround yourself with a close-knit, inspiring group that lifts each other to new heights. Highlighting the role of faith and divine guidance in this process, I suggest that God may push you to your breaking point before helping you rebuild anew. It’s about taking those crucial steps and making necessary changes, all while embracing spiritual guidance, to see positive, lasting results in your life. Join us as we celebrate this milestone and encourage you to take action towards becoming the best version of yourself.

Speaker 1:

And, to be honest, I was a little bit doubtful of myself that I'd be able to stay this consistent. As a lot of you guys know, I had a podcast before I had launched this, one called Awaken the Power Within. It was a project that I started working on earlier last year, and I think in total, we had 33, 32 episodes, maybe on that one, and so we're already about to surpass that one. And I think in total, we had 33, 32 episodes, maybe on that one, and so we're already about to surpass that one, and I can honestly say that I love doing this, the Freedom First podcast, more than I did the previous one. So, guys, I don't want to bore you to death, but, as you guys know, I don't really promote this show other than asking you guys to share it. Speaker 1:

Um, but, guys, I want to. I want to share a little clip with you. Sorry, I'm moving some things around on the desk, but I wanted to share just something that I came across this morning and so I kind of pushed today's episode back to tomorrow. Anyway, it's the story of, like, the rebirth of an eagle, and you guys have probably heard it. But I'll be honest, I was kind of disappointed when I when I figured out that the whole thing is kind of mythical and it's not. I don't know if it's true or not, um, but when I first read it I was like, oh man, that's freaking awesome. I'm going to talk about that in my show. And then I started going through and, um, might be a myth. So it doesn't matter that. The clip still has a really good story behind it and I thought I'd share that with you guys. So I'm just going to go ahead and just play this little snippet from the video and then chat with you guys after.

Speaker 2:

Eagles can live up to 70 years because they are mentally strong. After 40 years, Every eagle must make a difficult decision. Its claws are no longer sharp enough to hunt, Its beak becomes bent and blunt and its feathers become thick. After 40 years, every eagle has two options Either it dies or it goes through a painful change. The painful change is that the eagle must go to a big mountain and smash its beak on a rock until it breaks. When the old beak falls out, a new beak grows in. With the new beak, the eagle tears out its claws and new ones grow in. Then the eagle plucks out its feathers and new ones grow in. This painful journey takes 150 days. After doing this, the eagle gets a new life. In life, hardships will arise, but overcoming them unveils the beauty of life's treasures.

Speaker 1:

Anyway. So is it true, is it not true? I'm not 100% sure, you know, I've Googled it. A lot of people are saying that it's, it's just a myth, um, but either way, I think the story still does have a really cool message that we can all learn something from Um and really like when, uh, in the video, when it talks about going through a painful change and, um, it really just got me thinking.

Speaker 1:

Like you really have to break yourself down to the absolute bottom of the barrel. Like you have to completely break yourself down mentally, either mentally, physically, spiritually, whatever that situation looks like for you. But, guys, you're the bird, like you're the eagle. In this story and sometimes in life, you have two options. When times get tough and you're not willing to go out and hunt for your family and provide and do all the things that you might have been able to do in the past, you have two options, like there's death and just rolling over and calling it quits and just say you know what? It's not worth it, I'm not going to keep going. This is it for me. That's option number one. And then you have option number two Break the beak down, pull the feathers out, sharpen the talons, you guys. Sometimes we have to go through that same exact change. You have to break yourself down and you have to just realize okay, I'm a broken human being. The only way up from here is up.

Speaker 1:

We talked a few weeks ago about change and how change requires change, and sometimes that change that you have to make is going to be painful. You're literally going to have to rebirth yourself and become a new human being Every day when you wake up. The old you that was there yesterday, that was there last week, is dead. You have the opportunity today to rise and become the person that God intended you to be. So what option are you going to pick? Are you just going to roll over and just call it quits and say just my life, it is what it is and I'm just here till I die? No, if you're listening to the show, I know that God has a better plan for you. I know God has a better plan for me, and, although I'm not perfect and there's a lot of other things that I could be working on myself, I'm willing to break myself down and analyze where I'm at and then make the changes to become a better person, one practice that I've been doing over the last couple of days. Like I talked to you guys about having the non-negotiables the other day, and if I don't complete those, there's consequences. And guess what? Last night and this morning I had to deal with both of those consequences. Was it fun? No, do I want to do 250 pushups right before bed? Was it fun? No, do I want to do 250 pushups right before bed? No, I don't. And guess what? I hit the snooze button this morning twice. I'll admit it. I hit the snooze button twice. Guess what? The punishment for that was running two miles. Do you guys know me? I hate running, I don't like it. So I'd run two miles before I went to the gym this morning. That's breaking myself down. I'm willing to do that. I'm willing to put in the work to become a better person.

Speaker 1:

Painful change is necessary because it's going to get you into uncomfortable positions and you're just going to have to muscle through it. So, no matter where you're at, be the eagle, break yourself down as far as you need to, if you need help building yourself back up. That's why I'm here. That's why I'm your advocate here. That's why it's important for you to surround yourself with killers. That's why, like your group of people that you're surrounding yourself with on a day-to-day basis. It's got to be a tight group. You guys have to be inspired by each other. You guys have to continue pushing each other to get to the next level every single day. So that's what I encourage you guys to do today Break yourself down.

Speaker 1:

Become the eagle.

Speaker 1:

Break down your beak, sharpen your talons, pluck your feathers. Rebirth yourself into the person that God intended you to be. And the minute you start taking that seriously, you will see change in your life, and it will be for the better, because God will be able to see that person's trying. I'm going to reward him for it. And don't forget to include God in this process, because he will break you down to the exact point. He'll break you down to your breaking point. He will let you know where you have to be broken down to before he can start to rebuild you up. So take that with a grain of salt. Take it however you want it, but that's the truth. Analyze where you're at and start making that painful change so that you can become that bird.

Speaker 1:

Whether it's mythological or myth, whatever, whether the story's fake or real, I don't really care. I thought I had a really cool message, so that's why I wanted to share it with you guys. But that's all I have for you today. So become the Eagle, get your butts moving and we'll talk to you tomorrow. Oh, you guys, got a little applause in there too. It ain't no need to search this, the Freedom First podcast. So just come and learn how to build a free life living on your own terms.
