Speaker 1:

Welcome back to the Freedom First Podcast, everyone. My name is Justin Errington. As always, I am the host of this podcast show and I'm excited to be with you all today. Once again, this is episode number 31,. 31 days in a row that we have been bringing content to you guys and, like I always say, we just comes out better than me. I do this show solely by myself, like it's just kind of me vibing in my office talking about the things that I want to talk about, and it's been an absolute ride, it's been a journey, it's been super fun to be with you guys every single day. Thank you all for tuning into the show. I do appreciate it and, as you know, all that I ask is that you guys just share this with someone who you feel like would benefit from it, and that's really it, man. I just hope to bring enough value to as many people as I can so that you guys can ultimately live life on your own terms. Hence, that's why we call it the Freedom First Podcast.

Speaker 1:

So, with that said, let's dive into the topic of today, and today we're going to be talking a little bit about the past. What does the past mean to you? What does your history mean to you? Do you have a lot of baggage? Were you the captain of the ball team back in high school? Were you the guy or the girl that was able to get with whoever they want, dated whoever you want? Because, guess what? It really doesn't matter, not one bit, does it matter. Living in the past, I think, is such a detrimental thing like such a detrimental thing that someone can do to themselves Because, although you may, you might as well been like the most popular kid in high school or in college or, you know, maybe whatever sports team you were on like, you were the star. Guess what Life goes on, man Like, unless you make that a career, unless you go on to bigger and better things, which 95, 99% of us don't, unless you make it really, really big in sports or academics, I don't, I don't know. The moral of the story is like you, you can become the best at whatever it is that you want. But even yesterday doesn't matter, it doesn't, it's in the past, it's history. You're never going to get yesterday back. You're never going to get 10 years back, 20 years back, that's it.

Speaker 1:

So you got to forget it, no matter how many hardships you went through, and not even hardships. Like maybe you know, in business, like you had the best year of your life three years ago and you're still talking about three years ago. Oh, the market was great and I made all this money. And you know, now I'm just here plugging along. It's super, it's so easy to do that I, I'm guilty of it. Guys Like there, there's been deals that I've made in my life where I made a substantial amount of money and it hasn't like. I have not even come close to doing that again and even yet I still find myself dwelling on this and like, even though it was a fantastic time in my life and it was super fun, in the moment it's in the past. Man, like I can't get it back. I can't get the money back, it's already spent. Like it's gone.

Speaker 1:

So why do we do that to ourselves? Why is it that we're always so caught up in the past and trying to relive those glory days or holding onto those moments that were just a hell for our lives? Why do we hold onto the past so much when we can't even control it? No matter what your circumstance was last year or 10 years ago, 20, 30 years ago, wherever you're at in your timeline of life right now. Your past can either be something that you have built upon since then and have been able to grow this extraordinary life, or you can still just be holding on to those little stupid things, and that's what's holding you back from becoming great today. That's why the past can be so detrimental. That's why you can't hold on to the glory days. Make the glory day today, because you're living in the present today. You can't control what's tomorrow. You don't even know if you're going to be here tomorrow. You can't control yesterday, because it already happened.

Speaker 1:

So forget the past, man. It's a lot easier said than done. I know that. I know that people go through trauma. I know that you know it's hard to let go of that vacation that you had with your family. You know, five years ago that was just the best time ever and, oh, I just go. I would just want to go live in that moment again and again and again. Go, do it again, make it happen again, make it better than it was five years ago.

Speaker 1:

Whatever it is guys like, forget the past, it doesn't matter. Yes, it's part of your history, but it's not going to change where you're at right now. So you might as well just make the best of today, in this moment. Live in the present. It's that simple. So, guys, what is it that you're holding on to right now that you need to let go of? I want you to.

Speaker 1:

Maybe it's a good memory and keep it there in your memory box, in your brain or whatever, but stop talking about it, because it doesn't matter. Those memories are for you maybe your family, and that's it. Those memories are for you, maybe your family, and that's it. Good or bad, the past is the past. Leave it there. Focus on today, focus on being great, focus on building a life that you can live on your own terms. That's all I have for you in today's episode. We'll be back tomorrow with episode number 32, where we're going to be talking about questioning everything in life. Can't wait to share that one with you, guys. We'll talk to you soon. World culture founded here. It ain't no need to search. It's the Freedom First podcast, so just come and learn how to build a free life, living on your own terms.
