and we are live back with another episode of the freedom first podcast. I'm your host, justin errington. Thank you all once again for tuning into today's episode. This is episode number 38. This is 38 days in a row that I have been releasing a podcast for you guys.
Speaker 1:As you guys know, if you have tuned into the show before, this is a show on personal development. I talk about how you can start implementing little things in your life every single day that will lead you to start living a free life and living it on your own terms. That's my whole purpose. That's my only goal of this show is to provide value to you guys so that you can eventually live a free life. That's my whole purpose. My whole goal and all I ask of you guys is that, if you get any value is to share this show with at least one person and guys.
Speaker 1:Yesterday we dropped the episode about wholesaling and I was talking about what it is that I do and it kind of sparked an interest in my mind, just about making money and increasing our income and cause cause. That's really, ultimately, I feel, like what most people want to do. They're trying to figure out how can I make more money, how can I provide for my family better? And I really hope that some of you guys take advantage of yesterday's episode and and reach out. And if you guys are interested in wholesaling a house with me and making some extra money, let's do it Like I'm. I'm a hundred percent down to help you guys do that, because it's it's ultimately going to be a win-win for everybody. Everyone's going to be happy, everyone's going to make some money. It's going to. Yes, it is going to require a little bit of time, a little bit of effort on your end, but I know we can make it happen and that that's what I want to do with you guys. And anyway, off topic, but that sparked a conversation that I wanted to have with you guys today, and it is on the topic of money. As you guys know, money is one of the four pillars that I live my life by Faith, family, fitness and finance. We're going to be talking a little bit about finances today because I feel like the finance world that we live in is 100% backwards and it's not talked about enough and it needs to become a regular conversation at the dinner table, and by dinner table I mean it needs to be a conversation that needs to be had with friends, with family, with your kids. It's important to do that.
Speaker 1:I was actually in the car with my brother and my little boy today and my son he's almost seven and he was talking to my brother and he's like my, my, my son he's, he's almost seven and he was talking to my brother and he's like I know what I want to do when I get older. He's like I want to fix up houses, I want to run my own company, and I thought that was super cool to hear, like it made me so proud to, you know, hear my, my seven-year-old son say that he wanted to run a company someday, because that just shows that you know he is listening to what I am, what I'm saying. And, um, you know, I try to make the topic of money a pretty open conversation and I've I've talked to him several times about why making money is important and that it's not a bad thing. Like he just bought, um, his own set of golf clubs a couple of weeks ago and he was so proud, and you know, to do that with his money and, granted, some of that was birthday money, but some of that money like he's earned working, you know he's. It's funny, like he really is a little entrepreneur, like he's gone to all of his grandparents and be like, hey, can I clean your baseboard for your baseboards and your house for for five bucks. Or can I do this, dad, can I come clean your office? And I'm like, yeah, dude, like for sure, let's do it. Anyway, it's kind of cool to see that as a dad, just to you know, see your kids start to take that initiative at such young age and cause I remember doing the same thing and I remember I remember mowing my great grandma's lawn for like 15 bucks every other Saturday and it was like the coolest thing ever.
Speaker 1:And anyway, a little bit off topic, I wanted to talk to you guys about increasing your income and I feel like there's two paths that you can go down. When it talks about you know just the conversation of money and you can either save your way or you can simply just earn more money, and that's the one that never gets talked about like ever. Everybody always talks about you don't save your money, save it, put it away, never touch it. Like guys yes, I get it, have an emergency fund, but don't just save to save. Like you guys have to live life, you guys have to enjoy it. You know, don't just save to save Like. You guys have to live life, you guys have to enjoy it. You know, don't just save your money for a rainy day. I think that having a reserve of money is important, but, guys, if you have hundreds of thousands of dollars in the bank, at least go invest it somewhere. Enjoy it a little bit.
Speaker 1:Like me personally, I love spending money, but I also hate spending money. You know if I'm going to do something fun yes, I love doing that. Do I love paying bills? No, do I love paying taxes? No.
Speaker 1:But a few years ago, like, I really kind of just started to think about you know what, if I want to live the life that I want to live, I got to stop saving money and I got to switch something in my brain that says, justin, you need to go out and earn more money. And that's when I found sales, that's when I found real estate and that's when I really kind of figured out you know what I can make a lot of money. And it all starts in my mind I have to be willing to tell myself and to trick myself you know what? How can I afford this lifestyle. I remember the house that me and my wife built three years ago. Pretty much that exact same house was on my vision board and I wasn't trying to save my way there. I figured, or I started asking myself, how can I afford that house? And that forced me to start making more money. That's why having a vision board is so and so important for you guys. If you guys don't know where you're heading, you're never going to get there.
Speaker 1:So one thing that I want you guys to focus on instead of I need to save this much money to do this, start asking yourself how can I make more money to get what I want? Because saving is the long-term route. It's going to take you 10 times longer to save your way to getting that new car versus you know what. How can I make a little bit more money this month? What can I do at my job to make more money? That's how my brain's wired, and I'm glad that it's that way, you know, because I always, instead of just like oh, it's so expensive, instead of saying that, I say how can I afford that? And I feel like it's worked pretty good for me. And it's not financial advice, I mean. You guys can do what you want Listen to your tax advisor, listen to your parents that's up to you, but I feel like making more money is easier than saving a little bit of money.
Speaker 1:So guys start looking at life like how can I earn more? And just know. Like if you start talking to people about this and they're like dude, you don't need more money, like money's the root of all evil, they're full of crap. To put it plain and simple, guys Like these this is something that you need to take seriously, because it's your life on the line, it's your kids' life, and if you want to start living life on your own terms, you're going to have to start making more money, and there's nothing wrong with that. You can do so many cool, incredible things with money. So take that to heart, start applying it, start asking yourself how can I make more money? And if you guys don't know where to start, reach out. I just offered you guys an incredible opportunity yesterday to make more money. So go and listen to that episode and then reach out to me and let's have a conversation. Guys, I love you all.
