Welcome back to the Freedom First Podcast. I'm your host, justin Arrington. Thank you once again for tuning in to today's show. This is episode number 46, and this is a podcast where we talk about becoming better humans, becoming better at every aspect of life. I have this thing called the four pillars of life, and that is faith, family, fitness and finance. Those are my four pillars that I live by. I believe that everyone should be fit. I believe that everyone should have a good live by. I believe that everyone should be fit. I believe that everyone should have a good family life. I believe that everyone should have their faith with God in alignment, and I believe that everybody should have financial stability, financial freedom, whatever that looks like for you, and that's what I talk about on this show.
Speaker 1:Today. I'm going to be talking a little bit about setting goals and how to achieve your goals, but first, before we dive into that, I just want to say thanks for tuning in again. If you guys have been listening to all the episodes that I've released in the past or if this is your first time listening, this is going to be a good one, and I feel like it's something that everyone is going to be able to relate to, especially if you are wanting to better your life, which I'm assuming that that is most likely the case, since you're listening to a personal development podcast. So, guys, with that said, goals how do you achieve your goals? You write them down on a piece of paper, you put them up on your wall. Six months go by and nothing happens. I think in reality, that's how most people look at their goals. But have you ever thought about reverse engineering your goals? I'm sure a lot of you guys have heard about reverse engineering at some point in your life. So I'm going to break that down for you.
Speaker 1:Let's say that one of your goals is to build a house that you can raise your family in. Let's just say that property, that building that home, is going to cost you $500,000. Now, in today's market, building a dream house for 500 grand is it's a stretch in some places, but we're just going to use that as an example. So what I need you to do is you have this vision of a house. It's worth 500 grand from there to start reverse engineering it. You need to figure out how much do I have to put down on a house like that? That's step number one. You figured out the first step. The next step is how much is a house like this going to cost me every month to live in? Okay, it's going to cost $2,000. I don't know, I mean, it's going to be different for everybody but it's going to cost you two grand a month, okay, well, from there you know that that's about what I'm thinking, that I'm going to be at. Then I need to go get a mortgage, then I need to go and get pre-approved right and sooner or later, like, you're eventually going to buy that house. You know, and that's a very simple example of it, but let's take it even a larger step.
Speaker 1:This is something that I do all the time. This is something that is involved with my quarterly planning. I review all my goals for, you know, the next five years, and I reverse, engineer every single aspect of my life, from the house that I want to own, from the cars that I want to drive, from the vacations that I want to, you know that I want to take with my family. I reverse everything all the way down to this is how much money I need to be making a week in order to start living my dream life, and like it makes it so I don't know. Can I say that it sounds more complicated, more complicated than it is. I mean, let's just do this. Let me pull out my calculator and I'll do this with you. Let's say that you want to make a million dollars a year. So you type in a million dollars on your phone. You divide that by 12. That gives you $83,333.33 a month. That's what you have to make a month. Let's divide that by 30. You know, so you guys have to be making about 2,700 or almost $2,800 a day in order to reach a million dollars. Let's divide that even more. So let's divide that by 24. Now you're making $115 an hour. Divide that again by 60. You're going to be wanting to make $2 a minute.
Speaker 1:You guys reverse engineering things Like it really puts things into perspective for you and sometimes it's going to make you open your eyes and realize, holy crap, I have a long way to go, but in a really short time to get there. But then a lot of you guys are going to be like, holy crap, like I may not be as far away from my dreams as I think I am. Every single goal that you put on a vision board or you have in your mind. I challenge you to go out and reverse engineer what it's going to take in order to achieve that thing. You know, this might be a little bit more tricky with with your fitness, but actually not really. You can go and you can track all your calories. You convert, reverse engineer. You know how much you weigh, how much you're consistently like, how many calories you're burning per workout. Reverse it from there.
Speaker 1:But, guys, anything that's on your vision board right now, I suggest that you go and do this. Figure out how much you have to make every single year to live life on your own terms, live a free life. You know, the first time that I did this, I kind of realized, like you know, the first time that I did this, I kind of realized, like you know, what I don't necessarily need to make as much as I thought that I did. I mean, that's obviously no excuse to you know, slow down and and start pumping the brakes on on making more money. That's definitely not what I've done. If anything, it inspires me to do more. But, guys, this will give you a really good base foundation of what it is that you need to do in order to achieve and do the things that you want. It's really not that hard. So, guys, that's my challenge for you today Go out and if you guys have not made a vision board before, look up a vision board put, put things on a piece of paper that you want, you know places you want to or places you want to travel to Maybe it's a car, maybe it's a house, whatever and then reverse engineer the cost on what it's going to take to actually achieve that.
Speaker 1:It's that simple, guys. So go out and make it happen. That's all I have for you today, and we'll go ahead and chat with you once again tomorrow. This is Freedom First, this lifestyle design. I know you see the work, a personal growth coach. You found it here. It ain't no need to search this, the Freedom First podcast.
