I had the sharp pleasure of sharing some slow time with Luz Navarrette in the bizzy run-up to the 23rd Annual Dia de los Muertos celebration on Santa Rosa's Courthouse Square.

The two day observance, held every November 1st and 2nd, invites the entire community to participate in this centerpiece and altar of the Mexican culture of death and grieving. Strictly non-commercial and deeply reverent, this celebration which Luz first organized in the aftermath of 9/11, has been a place of cathartic release, reunion, and joy for the living and the departed.
