My Life, My Story
#76 | Green Beret Amputee Who Still Commands 3rd Group and Founded Gold Star Teen Adventures - Kent Solheim
While he was born in the United States, Kent spent the majority of his growing-up years in Canada, where he met his wife, Trina, at a summer camp. After trying his hand at bicycle racing he and his wife made the decision to become a military couple. He would become selected for Special Forces and, during a mission in Iraq, lose his leg in a firefight. Together, they began the journey to recovery.
In 2009, with a trip to Key Largo, their organization Gold Star Teen Adventures was born from a desire to help the children of fallen special forces. Kent has a heart to pour into families that have experienced significant loss. He and his wife want to encourage people to live out the legacy of their loved ones; honoring them by living the best life they can.
