Will:

Nother realm is a real play Dungeons and Dragons podcast where in Bruce Tanner, and we'll try to make dumb jokes and a compelling story. Some of the content within will not be for children. But if that doesn't bother you, then here's what happened on the last episode of Nother realm.

Tanner:

You then feel all that pain turn into burning anger when you hear the voice of a nice Oliver Hadley. The man you once called brother. There is no punishment too hard for this man.

Bruce:

I never killed nobody and deserve killing and our shows how they kill me brother's

Tanner:

life. The rest of it with no chance of escape.

Bruce:

Well, I've seen enough of this. We both know how this story ends. Let's figure out a way to get out of here.

Will:

Truth.

Tanner:

I tried. I orchestrated the whole fucking thing.

Bruce:

Well, that was a fucking wild ride.

Will:

Gonna go find a picture of what I presume is me and the doctor doing some stuff. Okay. Just follow my lead here. I pull it off the wall. The name's Jason. That tell me yours.

Tanner:

My clients got to meet you somewhere waiting anything to look before?

Will:

You've got to be in there somewhere, buddy.

Bruce:

What do you do six. I told you not to touch things you didn't understand.

Tanner:

Navarro runs in the opposite direction towards one of the picture frames and tries to take it off the wall.

Bruce:

Oh, I

Will:

don't know about this running faster away from whatever he's doing.

Tanner:

What could kind of either push you forward? Or do you hear Do you want to stay

Bruce:

three more nines

Will:

can tell you

Tanner:

and as you attach to these things, you can feel all the feelings flood back instantaneously it is almost overwhelming is that trucks

Bruce:

bleeding fucking close.

Tanner:

The two of you have just basically been spat out of basic like kind of a middle ground for the afterlife wherein you met death and destroyed a gallery that showed people all of their lifespan so that they could maybe take something in and learn from it before they passed on. It's probably not an option anymore. And because of that, you jumped into a portal and now your spit out of the big thing the big mass and it has just basically fucked off

Will:

back away from the mass did not disappear in on itself like the rest of the world. Right?

Tanner:

No it it fled. Basically as as much as it came. Yeah. But for now the thing to unpack is that you are currently back in the ruins of Leylen You are standing nearby. Everyone that you left here the Onyx company is nearby just kind of dumbfounded by the thing that they just saw. And you also have Rangi who right when you came back out of this thing landed from when you pushed him so it seems like the passage of time the positions that everyone was in really hasn't progressed since you left even though you were there for a whole last episode.

Will:

Do we land on our feet?

Tanner:

Did you land on your feet?

Bruce:

Time works differently and lightspeed?

Will:

I don't know. Actually, you know what? I'm gonna roll with the straight detune if it's above a 10 I roll Ireland on my feet.

Bruce:

Oh acrobatics, because that's what that's for

Tanner:

the Oh yeah, that's good too. Would you get

Bruce:

well I land on my ass

Will:

out of a D 20. I think I said detained earlier out of a D 20. I'm gonna set so on my robot Very good.

Tanner:

Thank you guys. Um, as you guys land, everyone nearby is basically in a battle stance. The last thing you really remember, of this area's like Ranji had tossed his bomb. There was a lot of commotion going on the the black hole collector was more in you know, looking to come confront you and I See the black hole collective Onyx company, the black hole Collective is a much bigger organization. And they like the shock of what just happened, what they just saw. washes away from their faces and the expressions that everyone but you too has is more focused on you and the Blackhawk Collective is. You know Strickland, of course in his black cloud armor looks down at you just piss both of you fallen on your assets. And Rangi looks a little emotionally hurt. Like you just pushed him for no reason. And Strickland will shout out as he kind of walks up to you. You assholes decided that you're going to take our contract and then mess with us as we try and cross dangerous ground. I really don't know what I expected. But man dickheads

Bruce:

a douche bag here's our fucking contract first in approach you he approached me?

Tanner:

Did you have the actual contract?

Bruce:

Sure did right here. I wave of random piece of paper around put it back and you say 14

Tanner:

Oh shit. I dropped my dice everywhere and rolled over by toe

Bruce:

and counts.

Tanner:

This is a D 12.

Bruce:

Perfect. Keep it general better than me. Okay,

Tanner:

Bert. Oh, 15 on the dice. Okay, yeah,

Bruce:

he does. Yeah,

Tanner:

well, that just seems like skeleton. That's a bunch of bullshit. Because kinda like your armor. He was about to ask for the actual rite of passage, but when you make fun of his armor, he steps up towards you. Would you say

Bruce:

you heard me? I said your arm is fucking stupid.

Tanner:

My armor is standard issue. There is nothing fine. Standard

Bruce:

stupid.

Tanner:

Oh, all right. Mmm hmm. Okay, he's

Bruce:

not in the mood arts. He's not in the mood.

Tanner:

The mood this coming from the the fool in a bowler cap and a pinstripe suit? Come on, man. That was that was like popular in the capitol four years ago.

Bruce:

I'm sorry. You and the people in the capitol have bad taste.

Will:

Archie. I think we found everything that we needed. They can have the rest. Good luck. As I try to stand up. And I don't know if I reach out a hand to shake it. I think I just walk over to Rangi and try to help him up.

Tanner:

You go over to Rangi you go to help him. He actually looks kind of sad as you hook them up. And he looks over to you. Archie says well, Bronson press runs so Howard.

Bruce:

Sorry. Brava tripped. There's a rock over there.

Will:

That reception.

Bruce:

Yay, this one's better. And 9015 on

Tanner:

the dose. I'm just rolling 15 today. It's not bad. Um, his face softens. And he kind of does his little goblin clothes off. Until that happens. And he looks up at the Onyx company and back to you. Let me throw a bomb at these guys.

Will:

No, no, no, I'm

Bruce:

just not I not Yes. No. I nod yes. While saying no. No, don't do that. No, don't don't throw a bomb at them. That's a That's a terrible idea.

Tanner:

Reggie start slowly nodding. And then his head starts going faster and faster. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, he pulls out a fucking bomb.

Will:

I stopped him. I stopped by to grab the bomb. Because I'm saying

Tanner:

you restrain his wrist. And he's trying to tug against you. But it's a dog run

Will:

out Ranji. It's I appreciate all your help. But this will not be necessary at this moment in time.

Tanner:

For astronomers, florists, bilaterals. And global Crowley's subtler run was filled with explosive the sun the sun different

Will:

I'm almost afraid to ask but what is this room filled

Bruce:

with? Why don't you let him throw it and we'll find out.

Tanner:

This is Brett. Strickland will at this point. Will the try and stop this whole situation? Now listen, if you've fuckheads don't mind getting the hell out the way we're gonna finish this contract because obviously all you're doing is sitting around on your asses and not figure carrying shit out.

Bruce:

So guy got here after us. Oh, and

Tanner:

what have you discovered in the ruins?

Bruce:

Lots? And I won't tell you anything. Yeah fuck off now by I turn around and walk away. Okay. Which does go six we've got we've got things to accomplish.

Will:

I agree. Good luck to you Strickland? Yeah.

Tanner:

Wait, no, no I, hey, and you guys walk away as he's trying to think of a comeback as he just agreed to see you later Randy starts to kind of get up and follow you guys. What? Where are you wanting to go? Where are you heading? Because you've just discovered quite a bit of information in the ruins. And it does seem weird that you know the interactions you've had so far. No one seemed to have recognized that they just face down something massive and terrible.

Will:

Archie, did you notice? Even even rangy he thought that you pushed him for no reason? Reggie, what do you remember from what just happened?

Bruce:

Now? I didn't push him for no reason I tripped. We've been through this the threat

Will:

regime? What is your interpretation? Did you see anything out of the ordinary?

Tanner:

No, I was thrown the towel bomb at the assholes. Like you told me that sir. And then then then he tripped on his personal and I fell down and there was a backup. And then the assaults have confrontation. And I was wanting to throw bomb bolts to the terminal not to throw a bomb but certainly to throw a bomb. So neurons is confused.

Bruce:

Well, six is clearly the gentleman of moral judgment here so you should listen to him Randy.

Will:

Orton? Well. I guess I am confused as well, Randy. Archie, didn't you go get Rangi and bring him to this place? Huh? And Rangi you don't remember that?

Tanner:

Ah, there was a lot of commotion. So the Brompton lover after saying don't throw a bomb, and then Brahma Zhu, and then the other does tone, and then they didn't throw a bomb. And he started searching his pack. And he he says, rare explosive bomb and he's looking all around I gotta go back I think they'll drop the bomb.

Bruce:

Oh no, I'll leave it there and then they'll find it and then we'll get to blow them up.

Tanner:

But the third then that's gonna be bad for us.

Bruce:

You're assuming that those morons know how to work it to blow themselves up and then two birds one stone

Tanner:

Randles barrel smother? Bomb rock.

Will:

One last question. Randy. Do you remember? A an older gentleman with us?

Tanner:

Now just look to rent to reruns? Are those two girls lunk run on a roll. I'll tall girl and the shorter girl and then that. And now we interrupt our main story to bring you back to the drift to see what became of Professor Argo Mao caught. We start this scene in a dream. Nobles gather in the Great Hall of the hope sworn palace. Queen a celebratory stance in her chair and raises a silver goblet towards Argo to Argo you've given so much to Attoria No more illness no more pain, no more death. Even with all the power the crown bestows upon me I could never repay you to immortality to our Go mal Cox Argo mount to Argo Mel cargo Mel cars are going to Argo Malka. Dreams upon dreams. How long have I been here? no sun, no moon, endless water and then this. This downhill tower. Argo looks up at the limitless stairs above and the small speck of light at some immeasurable distance, gray stone stairs and grey stone walls above and below I suppose it's climb into the unknown or descend into the clutches of death? I don't know if escaping them was luck. It certainly wasn't skill. Could death have just let me go? Six. Jason. I hope you've made it out. We were so close to greatness you and I. Well, maybe we'll meet again. The middle age Professor stands and runs a hand down his pointed beard. He resumes his climb up the gray tower. Each step is labored. His pallid skin is nearly as colorless now as the stone around him. Yet Argos still climbs with purpose. He no longer seeks escape. He seeks knowledge, the ideas in his mind branch on and on to new hypotheses even as his body aches with fatigue. And though he is very much alone, voices soon pull him from his thoughts should be best not through this drama, I am now cooling. If you're going to whisper nonsense to me, at least have the courtesy to do it in a language I understand. That's nine options you know, nine. Shoe heel best no triva Foley real drum? I am Kure Yes, yes shoe heel on best. North's Reva Foley will ballroom drum. I am now Kure over and over and over. Perhaps I'll go insane before anything else. Argo shakes his head and runs his palm along the smooth gray stone. He climbs until his concept of time fades. He climbs until he feels he spent most of his life in this gray tower. That's not true. shahidul Vestron I am cooling shoe Hill does not rely fully Wielkopolska drama. I am cooling. The voices are constant now. And over and over and over again. Argo responds, not knowing what their words mean. Shaheed on best North River Shaheen on best drum. I am natal Kure Shaheen on best North River. Foley Wilk Barun drum. I am their Kure he climbs the light grows closer. He climbs the light grows closer. He climbs the light grows closer. He climbs the light grows closer. He climbs the light grows closer. He climbs the light grows closer. He climbs the light grows closer he climbs the light grows closer

Will:

curious indeed. Okay. I think I'm left with more questions and answers. Archie

Bruce:

might I'm sorry. I wasn't listening. I was looking over there trying to figure out which way we're going.

Will:

That's what I was going to suggest next. We probably should get back to bathe. But how do we do that?

Bruce:

Yeah, well, I would like my money.

Will:

I would also like your money I mean you to have money.

Bruce:

Hey, Randy. Yeah, what's the best way to get back to Leylen or whatever that sound was?

Tanner:

Ah nonetheless never been through Ludlum I had to put on like goblins for some reason but no light on the maps and frozen up mild cabin. I'm the is not the rare it is but like if he wanted, the quickest route would be to go back south Florida. But we're not going back south, the big the big suit the big earthquake, that kind of fucked up the whole term. So going back that direction. Uber tells me some time to try and figure out a new path. So faster we'll we'll probably go to North and then I'd like to I love maths and can cross on the on the on the world. And then you get back to your other side and then you just go south

Bruce:

when you're thanks six.

Will:

Well, we can't go through wound hold and we can't go under wound hold now. Especially since we can't even go back south. I think that we go north what is North Rangi

Tanner:

though loves town, the politis bluff. You guys. You guys are now resolved to head north Rangi gives you the basics of the day directions. And he explains that he needs to go back south. And he he pulls out a bit of parchment and he kind of traces a basic path that you need to follow forward. Because the road from here North isn't very clear. And but it's from his map, it seems like it's basically due north from here you can find pickets bluff,

Bruce:

or your guide and a cartographer

Tanner:

alone, runs in the past

Will:

Rangi does it all Rayji Do you think you could also maybe slow down the progress of those other guys? They're trying to steal our contract there was ours, rightfully unknown.

Tanner:

He looks back and you can see that the black hole collective kind of has set up a mini day camp the like put up some some tools and stuff as they're going into the towers and exploring some stuff. They all kind of go into one building and Randy says, like, in as much of a whisper as I can do in a Rangi voice. Unknown Altun as an altar there on the buildin at a service plosives around built and unnatural splott The building collapses anthem.

Bruce:

Archie begins nodding his head violently Yes.

Tanner:

Does this federalism

Will:

typically I might disagree with this, but fuck it. Is that how you go.

Tanner:

All right. Ranji starts rummaging through stuff in his pouch. You can see he's taking some powders and some putty and mixing some things together.

Bruce:

Making our remember orangey We didn't tell you to do this. And if you get away and find us again. I'll give you two more I do two more duck ducks. Two more dark ducks to not get found. not tell them anything if you are found in to find us again later.

Will:

Archie, give him one for his troubles now. He's helped us a lot.

Bruce:

That's fair six, a hand Randy another either.

Tanner:

I'll tell outdoor all the listings.

Bruce:

Because you're the best Reggie, you're the best that

Tanner:

he's beaming. Okay, so you guys leave Ranji. And as as you start heading north, you can see him finishing up his pace and parties. And he starts sneaking through the buildings. He's doing a great job just darting from building to building there's a couple of little cartwheels he pulls as he goes from one wall to another. And he sets himself up

Bruce:

making his own theme song. Yeah, yeah.

Tanner:

He, he starts putting putty and little wires between it around the building that the black hole collective has set themselves up. And the two of you start heading north on this, you know, it's it's a very rudimentary map that he's drawn for you, but it's easy enough to follow. And as the sun begins to begins to set, you guys can see on the horizon, along the edge of the wound, a little town, it's very simple. At least from this distance, you can tell and you assume at this point that this is pickets bluff. As you're walking into town, you're taking in the sights. And you you especially know Archie that this is a bit of a rough and tumble town. Just looking at the the people that live here. And from the basic location and for what you know about bootlegging in the area that it is kind of a stopping point between the nations of Almir to the east, and Attoria, which is where Leylen is. The few buildings here are really simple. They're made of mostly wood, and it's hard to tell the businesses from the houses if there even are businesses here, you do eventually see one building with a sign outside. And as you case this joint, you can recognize that it is an end you can look in the windows, which are largely covered with wood and have no glass and you can see people inside gambling drinking there's a fire light going through and there's just you know, an old crotchety barkeep basically denying people drinks unless they actually come up to the bar and get them. So yeah, 100% this is the in even with the knowledge of this place. You don't know its name, the sign doesn't have a name on it. It's just sitting there swinging in the breeze.

Bruce:

Alright, six is the pisspot was sleeping in the night.

Tanner:

All right, so you guys enter the quote unquote pisspot and head up to the counter and talk to the guy about getting a room for the night. He ends up charging you only one EIder and Archie you know that that is actually really cheap for a town that's out on the edge. They could charge whatever they want to whoever is coming in here, especially if it's, you know, booze runners and things like that they're gonna get you come in and go and, but he hands you the key and he points you back to the hallway at the end of the bar and to the room in the back left.

Bruce:

I'm gonna say I'm gonna look at 6pm I'm gonna say, all right. Let me make sure the room is clear before we go settle down.

Tanner:

Okay, you unlock the door. As the door swings inward. It creaks very loudly on the rest of hinges. The inside of this room as the candle light from the main room illuminates a portion of it, you can see a few cockroaches scatter. Yeah, it's in dire need of cleaning. The bed is very simple. It looks like it'll probably fit one person. And as you take a step in the you hear footsteps behind you. And the old guy from up front tosses you a blanket here, you're gonna be needing this. And you catch that new he walks right back to the bar. Yeah, this place is not quite gross, but enough to not be comfortable for people who are seeking comfort.

Bruce:

Well, it's a good thing that I'm used to sleeping on stone.

Tanner:

Oh, yeah. How many years were you in jail, by the way?

Bruce:

Somewhere in between the like, seven to eight year range. It was a good it was a good stint before he made his way out of

Tanner:

Yeah. Yeah, so the comment that Strickland made about your sense of style being a little behind might hold some actual truth to it. Okay, you to get settled in this room. Again, it's very simple. There's a there's a candle on the nightstand that you light up the there's a window nearby. Again, it's mostly boarded up by wood. But there are there's enough of a crack in it to see outside. And the town is pretty lively, even at this later hour.

Bruce:

One thing before I forget. Archie checks to make sure the lock on the door actually works. Huh?

Tanner:

It does not.

Bruce:

I would like to roll the thieves tool roll to see if I can set it from the inside. Yeah, okay. Go and give me that. I don't know. What do you see? Maybe so but I just happen to have those. I got a 14.

Tanner:

Yeah, you're able to rig up something that you think is relatively secure, you're able to repair the lock. It's pretty simple. If someone had some knowledge, you know that they'd be able to get past the mechanism you have holding it up pretty easily. But most people won't be able to get in without you knowing.

Bruce:

Yeah, okay, cool. Is there a chair or table or like, piece of wood? anything of that sort?

Tanner:

Yeah, there's a chair in a small desk nearby. Okay, I'm gonna do

Bruce:

the thing that you see in all the movies with the chair leaning up against the door. Yeah.

Tanner:

So five degree angle and bolster it under the door handle and hope that it stands. You know, if anything, it'll make some noise if someone tries to get in it.

Bruce:

That's, that's kind of the point. All right, go ahead and pegasys it.

Will:

Just remember Archie, I have you have a built in security system with me. I don't sleep.

Bruce:

That's fair. But you can never be too careful, especially in CD joints like this.

Tanner:

All right, the two of you knuckleheads settle in for a good night's rest. Archie, you get in the bed. It's it's better than a stone floor. All right. Comfortable. Yeah, as I say after all you've been through and actually it's pretty nice. This whole this particular room, it does make you a bit homesick for some of your rougher nights back before you're arrested. Because you spent time moving from place to place in in these sorts of locations. Six as you settle yourself into the corner, you take out your Thunderbolt cable, plug it into the wall on the door.

Will:

Well before you go too much further. I'm six can I'm thinking about the activities of the day, obviously six is that he's very perplexed. Can I do some sort of check to kind of get some insight on death and all the things that we experienced today?

Tanner:

Okay, go ahead and roll religion

Bruce:

Oh, hi. Do me a favor. plug my phone into

Tanner:

the proprietary cables that he's he's definitely got An extra it's a it's a 12. Some reason is none of them are USPC

Will:

Why am I a priest that does not have proficiency in religion? Just what the fuck is your race your cleric, cleric? That's the sort of that sort of blah, priest. That's very true. And I am definitely an awkward a different type of cleric. But you would think I would have some sort of knowledge of religion, but I guess thematically it makes sense, because I don't fucking know anything. All right, so 12 Total Tanner, give me give me your best for that.

Tanner:

So, with a 12, um, you know that there's been a lot going on with you in interacting with entities that don't have a physical form. And as you settle into the corner, you kind of think on that and try and reach out to whoever who has been reaching out to you. As you do this, what, what kind of what words what is it? What's, what are you reaching out with? God? Okay, just just questioning a deity to see whether or not it exists. Yes, yes. Okay,

Will:

can you hear me, I've never done this before.

Tanner:

Dear God, it's me, Margaret. With 12. With a 12, you don't hear a voice is so much as you get a feeling of connection with something. It seems to be sort of that familiar long in your surroundings as when it reached out in the forest. But most of your senses are still attached, you can see Archie settling down in the bed nearby, you can hear the people still, you know conversing and playing games and drinking out side. So you're not as entranced as you have been before. The feeling that you get is one of self attained knowledge, something that you have actually learned before something that you're reaching back towards. It is basically a memory. So it is a memory of knowledge connected to Gods and religion. And what six attaches to is death as you met, it isn't depicted that way in the religions that you know of not in the common practice, not in the evason practice. Basically, in both of those death is represented as an entity that walks this plane of existence and takes you into the next not something that's, you know, across all universes, and realistically, your knowledge of multiple universes is a bit shocking. You think back and you pull a name, death, as you know, it is called Tish. And teach basically ushers you from this plane of existence into the afterlife. Now, one thing that you can pull that wasn't in the document that I gave you, prior to the campaign is a memory of a phrase that's been been uttered a couple of times, you've been told to seek truth above all else, and you think about truth, and you draw that connection truth is Novar. I don't know why you didn't think of that before you knew this. Truth is represented by the ascendant Navarre who isn't a true God, but as someone who has granted God who had based on their convictions, one other thing that you do pull from the phrase that's been uttered to you multiple times, truth above all else. And all else, you know, in some small circles, is what people call a segment of the afterlife.

Will:

Oh, shit, you gave me a lot more with uh, with that than I thought I would get with a 12

Tanner:

I didn't mean to give you that much. But I was having fun with it. So there you go.

Will:

I'm good with that. All else is what now so that what we're talking

Tanner:

all else is the afterlife. But you know, you know, it's not drift realm. Or the drift as I've called it. Yeah, the 12 The 12 would have allowed you to like higher you might have been able to talk to a God understood. But these are just these are just things that you would know. All right, so the two of you settle down to rest and eventually drift off into both sleep and your meditative Sentinel state. Through out the night.

Will:

How many hours are

Bruce:

like eight,

Tanner:

full eight hours asleep? Okay, it's all good rest. are not there yet. It's not boring. No, I

Will:

know. But the hours before they interrupt.

Tanner:

Oh, throughout the night, Archie, you begin to have a few nightmares. And they are a combination of what you just went through in the gallery seeing, you know, this old memory that's plagued you this false closure that you kind of got from it. And just thinking of an ES as your as your dreaming just has you in a cold sweat throughout the night you wake up a couple of times. And you finally drift into a somewhat of a restful sleep. Six, you're keeping a watch on the door as you're recharging. At one point in the night. You do hear a bit of scraping on the outside of the door

Will:

is I'm not going to do anything immediately. He's just watching the door and see if there's any signs of something trying to get in.

Tanner:

Yeah, as you're watching the door.

Bruce:

Six stands up in screams Oh not Oh,

Tanner:

no. What What actually happens is you hear what sounds like someone messing with the lock. And you hear fuck. And then it's messing with it again. You think fuck? One more time. Fuck

Bruce:

and then you're done. And you hear the Skyrim level up sound

Tanner:

and then you hear them walk away giving up? Because that was a natural one.

Will:

Oh, okay. Oh boy, I had something. I had something planned very nicely.

Bruce:

People don't know how to pick locks correctly in this day and age.

Will:

All very good. Okay, I guess six just continues watching and breathes a sigh of relief because he wasn't sure if what he was going to do is going to work.

Tanner:

Yep. As as you maintain your watch. Morning begins to creep through the slits in the woods.

Will:

Wait, was that our random? Those are encounter Okay, I like it.

Tanner:

I mean, I wanted you prepared, man. I'm not gonna make your effort for nothing. You prepared? He rolled. I was like, Okay, I've used what you rolled as the DC and I rolled a one.

Will:

That just what happens? That's so yeah, so bad as

Bruce:

I love it. Yeah, if it had been like any other character probably just go to sleep. But I was like, Nah, you gotta be cautious and he's mental like

Tanner:

in a place like this for sure. So yeah, the morning like starts to creep through the slits in the in the wood covered windows. And the two of you wake up. You gather the things that you find him unpacked. Very nice. That was And yeah. Oh, you're bored. Okay. Fuck you. Now, you know what you know. It's a fucker Doron. Yeah. As that yawn as you unlock and unlatch the door. An old man was seven canaries walks in

Will:

that real No, no

Tanner:

behind that reference. Okay, it's fine. No, I don't get comments sometimes takes the form of an old man with seven canaries. Nope. Oh,

Bruce:

that's never happened. I've never been lucky enough to experience

Tanner:

run him that way. The old man. Oh, yeah. And

Bruce:

it's always been either voice in my head or a really angry dragon trying to kill me. Yeah. Generally the ladder.

Tanner:

Alright, so that doesn't actually happen. What does is you guys gather your things and unlatch the door you can see on the floor, and partially in the lock three broken lockpicks from the night before?

Bruce:

I knew it.

Will:

Oh, I knew it as well. I saw him try. He sucked.

Bruce:

I say really loudly. Man. People around here really don't know how to pick locks. Do they? Six.

Will:

I agree Archie.

Tanner:

In the in the room next to you. You hear someone say?

Will:

Shut the fuck up. No, you.

Bruce:

You tell them six.

Tanner:

Yeah, so you guys make your way out of town. Quickly. No one stops you on the way out. You do see a guy on the corner looks like he might be missing the I don't know. Three lockpicks

Bruce:

you suck in lockpicking All right.

Tanner:

He nods in agree

You find yourself in the gallery of a courtroom and Portway worth. The I've just kidding. It's me bathe, say share the most amazing quest giver you have ever met. And luckily, I have a quest for you. It is called share the podcast with your friends. Do you know what would happen if you did that? We would make more podcasts because more people would listen. It is a lucrative business deal for everyone involved. So will you take up this quest?

Will:

Right Do we do we happen to gain a level?

Tanner:

Oh shit. Yeah, thank you. Hey, B. You guys slept? You guys slept and got to level three. Good. Good job. Thanks for the reminder. What did you guys get for level three?

Will:

I got nine more hit points because I rolled the dice and got a six plus three. Boom, fancy

Tanner:

D one

Will:

D eight. I took the chance and rolled. And I now have level two spells that might just supposable that's scary. I am super pumped because it you guys you know what's at level two, you know, say level two, do not fireball zone of truth.

Tanner:

Oh, it's true. That's fun one.

Will:

I definitely prepared that. And I prepared several other spells that I will devote when needed. Well, if

Bruce:

if even if you don't prepare them, we're not going to know because we're gonna.

Will:

If you hear me cast more than six different Spells that aren't a bless Cure Wounds,

Tanner:

less than

Will:

whatever. I've got several spells that I just

Bruce:

automatically assume we're playing correctly.

Will:

Yes, we're playing correctly. We're doing this by the book.

Tanner:

Did you take Did you take any subclass me? Like did do you get those at level? Three? Two? Well, you already had yours level two. Yes,

Will:

it was the the lifetime and life domain.

Tanner:

That's right. Okay. Archie gets some cool stuff. We already had some illustrative descriptions of fuzz hands.

Bruce:

Yeah. Archie is going to go down the path of the beast, barbarian subtree. So I get to do fun stuff like, get about a weapon, or grow a title, or maybe a close.

Tanner:

That's dope. One thing that you do know is even when your hands transformed very quickly, where you came to this realization that tattoo remained and it didn't like color the fur on the back of your hand claws. It basically was like a shaved area where you could still see the golden tattoo. And what that does, now that you've kind of been able to take in a lot of experience, and you sort of feel more connected to your senses. And you gain a wolf's keen senses.

Will:

Oh, was that me? Okay,

Bruce:

hang on. I'll tell you exactly what I need them stats, but

Tanner:

the wolf has advantage on perception checks that rely on hearing or smell nice. YEAH.

Will:

OH dope. That's actually really good. I dig it. Yeah. What uh, what cool stuff that I get Tanner Tanner. You didn't tell me anything about Michael stuff

Tanner:

as you as you think about that, your mask cracks further towards your left eye. And you hear a click and see, well, if Archie looks he can see gold filling in this crack. And you feel sort of you feel like you're more able to connect with humanoids as if you gained some skill in persuasion.

Will:

Nice.

Tanner:

So I wanted to think of a particular scenario where it would be like, Okay, you get you get advantage on these sort of things, but you gain advantage on persuasion, when you are trying to convince someone for their own safety. That's cool.

Will:

Okay, that's pretty, that's pretty dope. Excellent. I'm sure that I will find so many uses for this.

Tanner:

Hey, cat, it it's a it's a bit of altruism that you've kind of because you've seemed to have been more caring for people and trying to do certain things as you're learning, trying, trying. Alright, in mid afternoon, you happen upon the, the edge of the wound, the path ends at a very steep and roughly hewn set of stairs that trace down the side of the wound. And you can see from this distance that it does attach to a rudimentary bridge, one that seems to have had some sort of structure that was better in the past, but now it's just between those stone structures just cobbled together. Wood Planks that have been put together with rope across it from each segment, and the center. From here you can see the beginnings of of a bit of a strip of land that this portion is built on to. So the land bridge does hold some truth to it. I need a history check from either of you.

Will:

Net 20

Tanner:

Wow. All right.

Bruce:

Okay, he is the robot.

Will:

I'm super excited about I don't know the last I can't remember the my last that 20

Tanner:

Have you had one yet?

Will:

I love this. If it's not my first one, then yay for my second or third one. But if it is my first one, yeah. So

Tanner:

you got them speedy solid state drives and you're able to pull up this information. What you know about the cobbled causeway is it's about two and a half miles across the waters of the wound. Most of it is pretty dark across just because of how high the walls reach on either side. So even in daylight, most of this area is shaded. It requires this dissension and ascension on either side of the steep stairs. The information that you can you can pull back is stories, tales that you've heard in your research, ghost stories of an elven woman who haunts the causeway from the stories with his natural 20 I can give you the whole freaking thing I guess. You remember that? The tale says that while alive this woman was bound on one with Dane which is an island to the north of here. She was then tossed into the salt waters of the wound. She managed to stay alive in the turbulent waters until she reached the cobbled causeway where she was swept under by the current and pinned to the stone. And there is where she died. And because of her death, how much she struggled to stay alive. And what happened to her on the island. She did not leave this plane of existence and instead haunts it. Now the truth of that? You don't know. So

Will:

Archie, this is what's known as the cobbled causeway. I don't you see, I don't have many memories, but for some reason. I know that there's a an elven ghost that protects this bridge, if you will hearts it, of a lady that was done very wrong. I don't know that there's another way across. So we're probably going to have to brave it. But I wanted you to be aware. There is some danger here.

Bruce:

Nothing's easy, is it?

Will:

It would seem. You're correct.

Bruce:

Fantastic. All right. Let's go, I suppose.

Tanner:

All right, the two of you begin to descend down the stairs. It's treacherous, but you're able to make your way down to the beginning of the causeway down onto the wooden planks that cross. It is a long stretch before it gets from a stone structure to another stone structure. And fact,

Will:

did you know this was 2.5 miles across.

Bruce:

Now? I didn't tell me another fun fact.

Will:

There's a dead lady that hearts this bridge. I think I already told you that when though. Yeah, you did. This thing's been here forever. I don't know if it's going to hold us. Yes, we'll find out.

Tanner:

And as you say that now, you guys, you guys begin to make your way towards the long strip of land ahead of you. The waters here down at the bottom of the wound are rushing very quickly south. When you were in Leylen, you could see that the waters also moved in a southerly direction. So it's safe to assume that throughout the wound, these waters are just going south. There are rapids moving through here you can see that someone if they were swept up and pinned down beneath this current against something. Yeah, it would mean certain death. The only light that's being cast down is from the late afternoon sun as it's over the western side of the world. And there's this small strip of light that traces down it's almost reached the eastern wall from this angle. But most of the area is shrouded in shade. And through the rushing of the waters, you start to hear what sounds like voices intermingled with it. And you can see shadows moving oddly as they're cast across the land bridge. Here. You're stepping across pretty slick cobblestone that's built across this segment. And you'll eventually hear the clanging of chains. And you can see off in the distance of figured knelt down on the side of the bridge, crying into her hands, long silver hair stripping up behind her and pointed ears on either side of her head. She has a slender figure that you can kind of see through

Bruce:

six is what we're going to do. We're going to ignore it and just keep moving.

Will:

I wonder if that will work. I think maybe we should try to help.

Bruce:

Okay, but I don't think you're gonna like the reaction.

Will:

Do you think she's mad at us?

Bruce:

I think she's probably mad at everything. But I don't know anything about ghosts. You're the one with powers over here.

Will:

Okay. Look, I tell you what, let's try your way. And if she talks to us, I think I have an idea.

Bruce:

Sounds like a plan.

Will:

Okay, so we're gonna try to sneak by I guess or not really sleep. We're just gonna keep walking.

Bruce:

Keep walking completely ignore her and like she does not exist. Okay.

Tanner:

The two of you begin walking closer. She is just sobbing. You know, kind of the witch from left for day. Yeah,

Bruce:

I already had that.

Unknown:

Yeah, I was already there. Yeah,

Will:

that creepy is crying.

Tanner:

She seems to ignore you as you get closer and closer. But as you're about 15 feet away, she slowly brings her hands down into her lap and brings her head upwards and slowly turns it towards you. She is beautiful.

Bruce:

I wouldn't know I'm not looking at her.

Tanner:

Yeah, okay. If you were looking at her you could tell that she is beautiful. Are both both of you are just looking straightforward.

Will:

No, I looked at her.

Tanner:

Okay, as you make eye contact

Will:

me Oh, that's the thing that's supposed to do that.

Tanner:

As you make eye contact with her, her visit shifts and you can see like it turned to this this semi transparent, decaying flesh for a split second this face of terror like she is so afraid but then it shifts to anger if she meets your gaze. And she calls out to you. How could you do this to me?

Bruce:

Keep walking six. don't acknowledge it.

Tanner:

Why would you change me? I've been here for so long. I'm so afraid. You just keep walking.

Will:

I have done nothing to you. But it's nice to meet you. I am six

Bruce:

shot. All

Tanner:

right. Knowledge her

Bruce:

All right, six. We'll see I believe you can handle this one. If you don't well, it's good. No one

Tanner:

Yeah. I need you to give me a Christmas savings. Are there six?

Will:

Charisma saving throw? Yes, sir.

Bruce:

This is where we'll realizes he should have brought a paladin

Tanner:

once you get to good face,

Will:

it's a good base. I did because it was such a good role Tanner. And once that role would you believe if I said a natural 20? How about that?

Tanner:

No. It's a three

Will:

plus one.

Tanner:

Oh, it's that's a good rule. That's a good rule. So with a four this is what happens. She disappears.

Will:

Problem solved. Hey, moment. Yeah, I agree. I hope I helped you. Thank you. Nice lady.

Tanner:

You. All right, the two of you continue across the bridge. arching you just continue marching forward, six, you can feel your legs begin to slow down. And then you can kind of feel like certain parts of you are not moving where you'd like them to one of them down to the mace at your side as you unsheathed it, and go to swing at the back of Archie.

Will:

Archie Watch out.

Tanner:

You try a shout out and you cannot I need to make an attack roll for me.

Will:

So hey, luckily I'm bad at these. Ah, yes, that's a five. It is plus some shit but I doubt that's going to hit

Tanner:

just very quickly you hear wash Ed quickly enough to turn around and move out of the way of may swing from six Archie six you could feel like you had some sort of resistance in there. But now you can feel her inside your mind and this cold washes over you all the fear and anger that she harbors is now dwelling inside of you. And you are still completely aware of everything that she's making you do but you're unable to speak out or move of your own volition sweet in sixes voice Archie you here and I'm just going to send this to you.

Will:

Will I was down here for so long. And now I'll make you feel what I felt.

Tanner:

When when he says this. He points down with his mace towards the your left side of the bridge. And then he built the roll initiative. I run okay, still roll initiative. 18. Six on the days are total total.

Will:

Minus a six plus zero. It's dramatic because I'm playing a different character now. But I'm still six.

Tanner:

Okay, all right, cool. I'm glad that the possession happened to the only person that has fucking turn on dead. It's really good skill. All right, Up first is the ghost. So six, you will once again try and take a swing at Archie. Okay, I

Bruce:

see now. I was like what? I realized he rolled it.

Will:

And that's a seven plus four.

Tanner:

All right, 11 doesn't hit. You make another swing. But still you offer some resistance as this thing is possessing you. And Archie is able to move out of the way quickly enough.

Will:

How dare you put me on that island?

Tanner:

As you try and speak back to it. Oh no, you're speaking Okay. Very good way to get into character. Well, come on, man.

Will:

I'm helping you out.

Tanner:

Nice. All right, Archie. It is now your turn.

Bruce:

Cool. Archie smirks a little bit. He pulls his wolf head mace out. He says real sorry about this brother, but it's gonna Aren't you more than it is me rage and grow a long black wool steel. Nice. Nice.

Tanner:

What does that do for you?

Bruce:

I can choose as a reaction to add or to roll one date and add it to my AC Okay, cool

Tanner:

that's That's dope

Bruce:

That's dope then I'm gonna walk you through it with my mace

Tanner:

mace are great X. Nice. Oh yeah your your makes me got it.

Bruce:

I mean I go could technically do it with my great axe, but I'm doing this with my mace to make it be more to make more sense.

Will:

So Archie, Archie understands what's going on. Do you think like straight up like your characters outside of game?

Bruce:

Yeah, I would assume so. I mean, if I saw you were possessed. You're attacking me for no reason. So I

Will:

believe I believe that Archie would know, right? Because he said, You kept me down there for so long. I mean, like, that doesn't make sense for six to say that shit.

Tanner:

Yeah. And you also aren't he? Archie was also telling you not to look at her. So

Will:

yeah, I did i Hey, I'm six. Fuck me.

Tanner:

Yeah, pretty much. Go ahead and roll. 19 That hits.

Bruce:

Nine damage. Oh, I'm ranged 11 damage scuze me.

Tanner:

Nice. Alright, so you come down with your wolf had mace and smack six in the side. It finds purchase and does some damage to him. Six, even with the pain you're unable to call out.

Will:

Okay. Oh, yeah, that's fine.

Tanner:

Okay, your turn comes and goes. And it is

Will:

I can't do anything. No, no, any checks?

Tanner:

Okay, no checks. No checks. Possession is big. Go ahead and roll the hit.

Will:

That's an eight plus 412 Does 12 hit? No, I've actually tried to hit Archie. Now Yeah,

Tanner:

it does not hit. Once again, the feeling inside you is able to slow the swing of your mace. You can feel the frustration of the ghost surge through you this shriek internal of pain and still fear that this man in front of you is going to put you back under the waters and you get a vision of being stuck under there after struggling for so long to stay afloat. Now you're suffering as your lungs filled with air. I want to go ahead, y'all. Yeah, where's your lungs filled water? Thank you. I need to go ahead and roll a wisdom saving throw, please.

Will:

Alright. wisdom saving throw. That is a five plus three, eight. Okay. Nope. Papa's 510 1010 10. If that makes any difference,

Tanner:

you take three psychic damage. As this the horror of what she went through, rushes in. Glad we

Will:

got that long rest. Boy. That's

Tanner:

all right, Archie.

Bruce:

I set a question for you. The robots have to breathe.

Will:

I know not who six is. But this body doesn't really need to breathe.

Tanner:

She doesn't have any sort of idea that it's this body. Just yeah,

Will:

I'm making my own story here. Tinder. Fuck you.

Bruce:

Oh, it's just the body that you're jacked over there. So after I knock him out, I'm gonna send you straight to hell for messing with me. Rob.

Will:

I knew you wanted to hurt me. Oh, no.

Bruce:

Cease your existence. I just want

Tanner:

All right, roll hit when he says this once again. You're wracked with fear.

Will:

Who is you?

Tanner:

All right. Nice. That hits. I like that. I don't have to do anything. This is a very nice compliment. Why

Will:

do I do okay if six is Raghu fear does he use anything is at his disposal? Now it's just a feeling okay, I gotcha. Cool. I'll just make it sure I want to play it out the way it's supposed to be played. Yeah, sounds good.

Tanner:

You could just you you just feel her emotions. How much damage she is psychic.

Will:

Know how much damage to Bruce's do Oh, I

Bruce:

just dealt seven seven

Will:

okay

Tanner:

all right. You do anything else?

Bruce:

I just wait. Okay

Tanner:

six let's out a screech Ah. Good script

Bruce:

very very scary ghost lady. Not That's it. That's that's not right.

Tanner:

Roll it.

Will:

Ah, now that's a 13 plus for us 17.

Bruce:

All right, I use my reaction to use my tail to and

Will:

I'm not even going to hit him. What's,

Bruce:

what's the two? What's your total?

Will:

70?

Bruce:

Okay. I got a five on the dice. So I add five. So that makes it 19.

Tanner:

Nice. All right, again, six, you're able to put some resistance into the swing. And Archie is able to definitely step out of the way.

Will:

Can I speak internally to her at all? You could try. Okay, I tried to say I won't allow you to hurt my friend.

Tanner:

She. You can feel anger at this thought. As if she just wants vengeance as if that would fix everything. And that this man here is who she needs to save the waters.

Will:

I say one more thing. Just real quick. I said. If you stop attacking, I might be able to help you.

Tanner:

Ah, you fuckhead go ahead Roy advantage persuasion. With that new.

Will:

Thank you. That's what I was going for. Five minutes and eight on those. That is a 10 on dice. Minus one so nine.

Tanner:

All right, she bolsters this thought and just thinks no one's going to help me. I have to help myself. I stayed afloat for so long. I just have to stay afloat for a little longer and put him down. Okay. All right. Whose turn? Whose turn was it? I think it's all you did defense. Alright, so Archie, go ahead. What do you do?

Bruce:

I am gonna sit let's see Archie, he's gonna look like a six and he's gonna say I hope you trust me. Bruv and he's gonna fucking whack the shit out of him. Alright. 17 I believe that

Will:

does 717 tie goes to the attacker.

Bruce:

Funky. All right, well, let's take another 11 damage.

Tanner:

All right, six, you can feel that the resistance that you're offering is also slowing down some of her reactions to not get hit. So in your body, you're getting smacked and you still feel the pain from it.

Bruce:

I am holding his head. Let me make that very clear. Okay.

Will:

Okay, so you do understand six is down.

Tanner:

He's down. Yeah,

Bruce:

so I choose to knock him out. Not do lethal damage to him. Yeah. Okay, all right.

Tanner:

Yeah. Okay. So as six falls to the ground, you can see the light from his eyes go dim and the light from his number six on his forehead also go dim. I was too

Bruce:

quick reaction to this. But as soon as I see him begin to crumble, I close my eyes. And I immediately go to pick up his body and head back towards the steps that we were going to the way that you guys we're going to be we're heading and I'm using I'm using my hearing and my smell. Oh right me.

Tanner:

Okay. All right. You see six fall and you quickly get underneath him you immediately feel this cold rush come out of his back as something that you can't see happens. You hear sobbing again, interspersed with screeches of pain and anger. Not enough to do anything to you. She's not a banshee. But you grab six and begin trying to drag him off. Go ahead and enroll that perception that advantage. We're gonna we're gonna have it set your hearing is going to be the best bet for this.

Bruce:

I'm gonna like hear the waves in the water.

Tanner:

It's crashing against the side. Okay.

Bruce:

Advantage so I got let's see. Oh, no. Why is it ah,

Tanner:

it's gonna be a DC 16 It's pretty tough.

Bruce:

Well, I tied that with dice alone. So I got an 18 total. Oh, okay.

Tanner:

All right. So you're able to grab him and begin maneuvering. Now since I did kind of change in my description, the way that possession works I will allow this to stand if you don't have your eyes open and you're not paying attention to her you're trying to walk off but you do feel her pain as she follows you and you can feel this cold rush against your back but you don't feel anything happened to you or you know that based on you know, your your willpower you're currently able to bolster off whatever she's trying to do to you As you continue on for another 30 feet as you're trying to move quickly, but are, of course, hindered by not moving, being able to move too fast. And once again, you can feel this almost feels like someone touching your back, but incorporeal form the coldness that comes in contact with you. That's a 19 two

Bruce:

hit. Okay, so I'm I'm okay. That's what I was trying to say. So I'm still enraged then technically, because I'm still.

Tanner:

Yeah, I'm doing this based on combat turns. I'm just assuming you're going to keep moving and keep your eyes closed as you move on. Yeah. Okay. All right. Cool.

Bruce:

I could react. But I think I have to. Nope, I can't. So that'll hit me because I have to be able to see them. So. Okay. All right.

Tanner:

So what's your health 34. Alright, as you feel these fingers sort of reach into your back this cold spread through you, you can feel sort of just a weariness pass over your body and you take eight t necrotic. Damage.

Bruce:

Yes, that's about right.

Tanner:

As you know, as this this happens, you can you can feel a brush of this, this fear and this pain sort of enter you. And you continue moving on, I'm assuming, correct. Okay. As you continue moving on you, you can hear her sobs, like she's paused behind you. And looking in a different direction for a moment. So you're able to get a little bit farther from her before her attention turns back to you. And in this turn, she's not able to get all the way and attack but you can tell she is once again hovering at your back.

Bruce:

But away from cars now. Correct? Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Back to Cerner. Cool. I opened my eyes and I use a dash action. Okay.

Tanner:

So you get you get moving and you go 160 feet is your your dash.

Bruce:

is a double if it doubles that

Will:

Yes. Yes. Is are you dragging? No. Are you dragging the six

Bruce:

I should back them up, if you want to see. So

Tanner:

yeah, do that to go ahead and give me an ethics

Bruce:

under dirt, dirt, dirt, dirt, dirt.

Tanner:

So this will just be to see if you can take the dash

Bruce:

action 20 nonnatural. Oh, wow. Okay.

Tanner:

All right. So you're able to hoist them over your shoulders and you start making a run for it. You were about halfway across this bridge when this occurrence happened. And you're able to steadily stay ahead of her and you're able to carry him for the last mile across this bridge and you hear her slowly getting farther and farther away from you. And eventually you no longer hear her crying her screaming and you no longer feel the chill of her at your back. As you make it closer and closer to the far side of the of the wound and towards the stairs. It is going to be a long trek up here from this direction, and as you start making the climb the sun is setting but the sky has darkened with cloud coverage and this very bad storm begins to roll in this very heavy rain lightning off in the distance you are able to slowly make your way up the steep stairs making every step careful as you're trying not to slip off of this precipice and into the into the wound itself. And after a lot of effort you make it up to the top of the stairs all the way to the top of the wound and up to the other side. Due to all this running and carrying six like this for so far you will take a point of exhaustion for it. So exhaustion is is a status fact that the players and PCs can take at one level of exhaustion you get disadvantage on ability chips and if you under to your speed as have and then it just gets worse from there. Archie you make your way to the top of these stairs on the other side of the wound and the rain at this point is coming down so hard in sheets that it stings as you make your way from here you can see illuminated in the lightning, the tips of the wild peaks and you make your way up through the nearby tree line and move to try and find somewhere where you can find some rest find some cover, and hopefully find a place with one means of egress so that you can guard it while you both get some much needed rest. Eventually you find a cave and you lay six down on the side of the wall.

Bruce:

And you're heavy fuck.

Tanner:

Yeah, he fucking is. A couple 100 pounds at least. And you you build up a fire and you ignite it and you have some warmth and at this point six you you begin to regain consciousness.

Will:

Oh, thank god. No.

Bruce:

You're not fucking Oh,

Tanner:

thank you for like setting seven.

Will:

Archie, what happened?

Bruce:

Well, you did what I told you not to do. And you paid the price for it. You looked at the thing, whatever the hell it was. And then I had to reset your by bonking on the head a couple times. Actually not true. I did try to avoid your head because I know that that's where all your processing is.

Will:

But don't don't forget I have a helmet. So you didn't reset me and I truly remember everything that was there. That person has a lot of feelings, Archie. That was the most intense feelings I've ever felt.

Bruce:

Yeah, they all were trying to kill me.

Will:

I don't know. I've got a lot to think about Archie. I think maybe we should take a wrist.

Bruce:

Absolutely. I'm fucking exhausted and fucking Bay may look at me. Look at me. Fuck it close.

Will:

Is this. I think this is the third time you've saved me now. I want you to know how much that means to me. In case anything else happens to me?

Bruce:

Just remember, I'll be collecting triple next time.

Will:

I don't have any either. Well, I guess I do have some because I gave ranges. So I give him all my either right now.

Bruce:

No, no, no, no, no, no, no. I've learned her lesson. You owe me favors just like St. Sebastian asked for. And I'll collect on him when I need them.

Will:

Actually, that's what I'm good for. That's about all I'm good for. Sometimes I feel that way.

Bruce:

factoid six, don't get don't get there. Wait, can you cry? Do you have to do tear ducts?

Will:

If I could cry, I would be crying right now. That woman's feelings. They were intense.

Tanner:

Alright, so Archie, passes out. You know, he luckily got his bed roll out and he just collapsed on it. uncharacteristically, he has left his jacket on. And he is sleeping in it. Typically you'd fold it up, put it off to the side. He's so exhausted. He's just done. So

Will:

that's canonically how he sleeps and apparently sleep talks now. So I mean, remember, this is all great. It's good.

Bruce:

To box up the mountain. What is my name? Stanley. Oh, that's something.

Tanner:
