Nother realm is a narrative driven tabletop RPG podcast. For this season, we're using the d&d five e rules, kinda. The language can get a little spicy, but if that doesn't bother you, I will and I play six divers
Bruce:and I'm the voice of Archie.
Fraser:I'm Fraser and I play Mark bark smooth.
Tanner:And I'm your game master Tanner. And this is what happened on the last episode of Nother realm, the Neverthere there. What you notice as you jump out this window is the massive glowing green bubble in the center. Inside you see five red robes students chanting around a jagged white stone that's about the size of your head.
Bruce:It's time for the Black Wolf to hunt. And the face will be plentiful.
Tanner:You are rushing right behind commander horn through the door through
Bruce:the door. As Archie tears the door open and sees them he goes because he's in a battle rage,
Fraser:we're attacking the bubble. Let's do it go.
Tanner:I will give you additional bonus if you let the sword leech health from you. The more health you give, the stronger the attack on this.
Fraser:Alright, I'll just make it even 15 will be 20 So I'll be at four.
Tanner:That was the number I'm looking for.
Will:Yes, taste I'm trying to stop dorm loud.
Tanner:I provide no answers sign or I take my leave.
Will:Big number six. On the paper.
Tanner:Their hand once again reaches towards the bubble and scratches down in these claws of shadow as a tear opens in it
Will:a jump through Zeke Leadfoot. Nice to meet you.
Tanner:Now that the two of you have breached the bubble what you feel at least for you six is a familiar sensation. One that you've both cast before and felt back in the gallery. Inside the gallery, the gallery in the gallery.
Will:Oh, got it. Yeah,
Tanner:so this this energy comes up from the ground and actually, you hear it move outward from the center of the bubble. Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. And all of this power that's been saved up in the stone before you spreads outwards. I need everyone on the battlefield. Which is all of you I need all of you including Lord Commander Howard to go ahead and make a wisdom saving throw please.
Will:Nope. I was about to ask you. We get to save against this
Bruce:12 plus 214 15 Okay, plus 550
Tanner:Nice, but not nice enough. I got a role for literally everyone on the field. This does feel like an abnormal hold person as if it is just a failsafe for for anyone entering this.
Will:They have I was really happy about my templates five.
Tanner:All of the blues and the greens outside of the bubble are are still there caught in the spell as well. The four reds inside only one of them resist the spell. And Zeke Lightfoot meets your eyes six and says What the fuck does he say? Now I had something for like every scenario when things broke down not you guys pop it into fucking bubble I guess I had plenty of time to think about it and I didn't just Oh shit.
Bruce:Mark Mark we have here.
Tanner:He says he says You boys have been causing a lot of trouble now, aren't you?
Will:Well, depends on What you mean by trouble? Seems like you're the one creating trouble,
Tanner:though you've been fucking my shit up all day. And and that's the that's what he says until it's Mark barkston. Mark, Mark, what do you do?
Fraser:Okay, I'm gonna speak to Zeke and say,
Bruce:what's the purpose of all this?
Tanner:Oh, perfect fucking question, dude. All right, um, he lowers his hands a head turns his head to make eye contact with you the glow in his eyes dissipate. Now you can see there, just this pale blue. He looks over at you and looks you up and down for a second and responds. The boys needed to purpose. And this is the one that I've given them. So if you don't like it, you could suck my balls.
Bruce:You can take your head and stuff it on my kilt.
Tanner:However, he does very quickly realize something. And he says, Wait, weren't you the one in the jail cell? Locked up before we started this site?
Fraser:I don't I don't remember being locked up in a jail. So you must have me confused with someone else?
Tanner:Oh, no, I fucking remember who you were.
Fraser:So you say you have to give these guys a purpose? What is the purpose? Who is dorm loud? Why are you summoning it?
Tanner:It's funny. They, they come and they tell you that you have the aptitude? Right? You have the aptitude? Come join our school. And what they don't tell you is that there's a debt. And they come to your parents. They say oh, hey, you bring your poor child will take care of them will pay for their school and I came from nothing. Right? They brought me in, they taught me. They didn't tell me about the debt. And the debt keeps on stacking everything you learn that keeps on stacking. And then they say oh, don't worry about it. You could take a job, we'll send you out on jobs. So you can get rid of some of that debt. Right? So we say yeah, all right. Well go and take care of that. What you need from us, we'll use our magic, the things you've taught us seems only fair. But then you come back and they teach you more. Because it wasn't enough to pay off your debt. You've got to get higher paying jobs. In order to do that. You've got to learn more, right? So so then what happens? You go out and you do more jobs for them. You come back, you still have debt, and it keeps stacking up over and over and over again. Do you think that's fair? For them to take children and say here's your something you could do be above the station that your parents are in? You don't have to be a farmer you can be something much greater. Do you think that's fair?
Will:Does it do? Doesn't your anger seem a bit misplaced?
Tanner:Who have I placed my anger on that misplaced? Who didn't deserve it in this situation? Who have we hurt that you think didn't deserve it?
Will:Oh, everybody that wasn't you know? You your legal guardians wouldn't be their responsibility to keep you out of bad decision making. Or Or maybe maybe it was your responsibility.
Tanner:As a child, it was my responsibility to learn and to know these things and as uneducated people our parents should have known these things. A school comes in with so much prestige said we've got this covered basically buying these children put them in to a form of indentured servitude, cutting you off from learning unless you pay off your debt.
Will:That sounds like slavery. Were you a slave?
Tanner:I was not in so many exact words. No, but I am I am owned by the school is point now aren't they?
Fraser:You made a bad decision suck it up kid.
Tanner:All right. Go ahead and I need everyone to actually it is Mark barks turn so Mark bark go ahead and give me that wisdom saving throw again please.
Fraser:13 plus 215
Tanner:Okay. This time around you can you can feel the tug in your connection with the sword and you hear in the back of your mind. Need to touch that stone
Bruce:Gotta get that we
Tanner:fiending for the stone, the rock
Bruce:you smell when it's cooked in
Tanner:the back of your head. Go ahead and give me another. You roll one.
Fraser:One day four to four.
Tanner:You are no longer under the hold of jumpers. Whole Person.
Will:Oh hell yeah. So when he gets out of it does the person that's chest the spill immediately know that he's not held anymore
Tanner:you wouldn't know that. But if you were to look at Zeke's face, you don't see any recollection as of yet. Unless Mark bark moves.
Fraser:So he doesn't know that the whole person has been released.
Tanner:It doesn't really seem like it. Okay,
Fraser:so I could just choose to stand still and make him think that whole person has still
Tanner:got potentially,
Fraser:okay. I'm just gonna look at him and say, I'm so tired of hearing young people like you bitch about bad decisions you've made suck it up and make something of yourself.
Tanner:That's what I'm fucking doing. I'm taking what I need to fucking Why can't you get through your head?
Fraser:But you're taking what you need from other people instead of just pulling yourself up and work. But
Will:Mark Mark, how is that much different than what we do?
Tanner:The fuck are you? Did you make yourself?
Fraser:Look I've taken something from someone a time or two in my past. I'm not saying I'm perfect.
Tanner:What are you saying? How are we in the year?
Will:All humans are pretty much perfect. All beings are pretty much perfect. If you think about a racist. I'm sorry. You're a halfling I met beings.
Fraser:What I'm trying to say is if you want to cry, I'll give you something to cry about. And I elders bless.
Tanner:Okay, it does take him by surprise. So roll that advantage. Dope. I'm gonna roll again.
Fraser:Oh 14 plus whatever it is plus three.
Tanner:What's that damage that hits?
Fraser:So nine plus three or 12
Tanner:Holy shit. Very nice. All right. He looks surprised and taken back from this and gets to roll concentration everyone is freed from old person. Hmm.
Will:Nice. Wow.
Fraser:You're welcome.
Tanner:Now that the whole person is going off it is all the greens turns outside. Seeing what has happened. The one on the back wall and the one on the left wall lower their segments of the shield. The only portions of the shield that are left are the two quarters that are facing Archie the other two blues and Lord Commander horn. Those two that have released their spells are going to make attacks at the two of you inside the bubble perimeter. Mark bark I need you to go ahead and make me a wisdom saving throw. And six I need you to actually make a wisdom saving throw as well.
Fraser:Oh it's an apt 20
Bruce:This person's saying this spell as well. Right? You
Tanner:do? Yes. Okay.
Will:I have it everyone 12 plus 570
Tanner:Wow.
Will:Did we both save your bullshit that you were trying to do it? I know Frasier saved
Fraser:Oh hell yeah. I better have
Will:that. That 20 is automatic success. He literally he cannot game you out of your net 20
Tanner:No, I can it's not an automatic success we don't play that role. Okay, both of you succeed on this spell you feel that your mind starts to become twisted and this sort of confusion and rage boiling up inside of you but you're both able to push it down. The other wizard across the way will release a fire bolt except for you won't sound like the other thing is is fireball fireball does a fifth teen hit you mark mark
Fraser:so my my easy is 15. So yes, doesn't it? Isn't that right?
Bruce:You must meet or exceed. That's the wish wish was bigger. Not one out.
Will:Yeah.
Tanner:You take five damage as this fireball connects with your shoulder.
Fraser:That's one more than I had left.
Tanner:Oh shit.
Will:Wait, you're down that low. How did you get some? Yeah,
Fraser:because I had to give up 15 of my Oh, to get in the eye.
Will:Everybody when I came in here because I use my last level to okay, I was just making sure you count because I wasn't I
Fraser:wasn't 19 And then I took 15 damage to get in the bubble from the sword and so I'm down.
Tanner:Alright, we are up at the top. Oh, you're not you're you're down. Are you just down to one?
Fraser:No, I had four. Yeah.
Tanner:Oh, wow. Okay, yeah.
Will:All right, fine. He's down.
Tanner:All right, Mark bark as this spell works with you. You fall down to one knee and you dropped to zero hit points as you just do that spill. One of the greens up on the roof.
Fraser:And I say oh fuck
Tanner:out jeez. All right. We are now at the top of the order with Archie and Lord Commander Harlan.
Bruce:Alright, so the shields down.
Tanner:shield is down. It's you'll have to circumvent it but the backside is down.
Bruce:Oh, okay. Not fully. Okay, the whole thing was down.
Tanner:Yeah, you'll have to use your movement in order to get around to the backside
Bruce:so did every did all the greens drop the sheet? Okay, so some of the concentrating so okay, that's what I was trying to figure out. Yeah. Okay Are these are either one of these greens the same one that I've been fucking quick whacking on with my hand? Yeah. So
Tanner:the one over to the to the right side. That's the one that you've been throwing out because he's been closest to you.
Bruce:Okay, which was what was he? Which would did he? He's okay. Yeah, so should I see? Okay, all right. Gotcha. Gotcha. Gotcha. Yep.
Tanner:To the right of you and behind you are the two that left their shields up
Bruce:they're on the roof of the like actual building.
Tanner:And there are four trees one each corner.
Bruce:How far up is that?
Tanner:20 feet. Okay. Where's
Bruce:just the side of the building appear to have handholds?
Will:Wait, if I'm not mistaken, Tanner. Last time. canonically you said that these drapes that are outside the windows go all the way to the ground. Remember when when?
Fraser:Oh yeah. When I did my badass swing outside the window. Well,
Tanner:they went all the way to the
Bruce:floor. Inside that was inside inside.
Will:Oh inside. Okay. Okay. The way you
Bruce:do that. Even then he could just be like, it doesn't hold your weight in the ribs. So it's not like yeah,
Tanner:handholds.
Will:How good of a rock climber is Archie because there's handholds for?
Tanner:So it's it's pretty, it's pretty smooth large stones. Like around the the windows, which are pretty large. There. There are places where you could potentially use to climb up. Yeah, the easiest way to get up that
Will:you could I wouldn't make an argument that Archie is a very good rock climber because he knew about the special rope thing when we met as Lee are Dr. Anlin Sussan. To saw
Tanner:Yeah, wow. Wasn't even in here. Then remember, emanated yo, yo, I
Fraser:was really into this story before I got.
Bruce:And that technically that was repelling. It wasn't really just it's not wasn't technically wrong, either. He knows that. Okay, how far am I from the wall? And how far am I from the tree?
Tanner:From your position here you would probably about 15 feet from the wall. You'd be 20 feet from the tree.
Bruce:So it's 40 Total feet. I have to travel to get up a wall and on to know 35 Total feet. I gotta travel to get up a wall. Yeah, and I do the roof. Yeah. Alright, so this is what I want to do. I want to basically sprint at the wall and take a leap, like a jump and moving jump. Because what that would allow me to do based on the jump rule is after traveling 10 feet, I can jump three plus my strength modifier in feet up, which would allow me to get six feet up on the wall. Okay, and then if you can try it and I'm gonna try to grab on and climb up the rest of the way. I'm just trying to get on the roof. Like that's all I'm trying to do.
Tanner:Yeah, yeah. So here's the thing, regardless of how that works out, and I've seen this done before, um It's still gonna be the same amount of distance traveled. So even if you're jumping over that, it's not going to shorten the distance that you're going to have to do. It'll, you'll, you would then have to do two string throws one to see.
Bruce:Oh, then I just let the nice dash and climb.
Tanner:Yeah, I would just yeah, just do that. Okay, yeah, that makes things way easier than Yes. Dashing climb. Okay, cool. So, you willing to do athletics to see if you can get up there? It's pretty difficult. So you're trying to really find these handholds on the wall. It's really going to be a measure of how quickly you can see them and
Will:do your review roll. If he rolls a 20. Can he also have an attack when he gets up there?
Tanner:Yeah, okay. I'll let you 20 I will allow you to keep your action.
Bruce:Alright, well, it's not it's a 15. So okay.
Tanner:You are able to make your way up. It's not a very quick pace. But it is enough to do it within your turn. So I mean, it is fucking fast. It's fucking fast. Six seconds to go 15
Will:feet. You know, Bruce's honest.
Fraser:I guess pretty quick.
Will:I gave Bruce every reason to lie. I got you to go along with it. He could have just been like two and
Tanner:so but you you make it up here and you are right next to this guy. I'll say that the path that you made is you puts you it puts you at the roof beneath his feet. If you want to come all the way to the top you can I will allow certain things as a bonus action.
Bruce:Okay, yeah, I mean, I'm wanting to get on the roof like
Tanner:you are you are on the roof within what how close do you want to be doing?
Bruce:I mean, if it's if it keeps me if I would normally be in his face then that's where I am. I'm fine with that. I'm not wherever wherever I am is I'm cool with it. I just wanted to be up there. That was
Tanner:the goal. You're up there in his face. Okay. Yeah, that's, that's my turn. Okay. All right. Then, Horan sees what you're doing and looks to the back wall right behind you guys which is the other closest dude that's making the barrier and he spreads up and attempts to do the same thing that you just did following your leads right and
Bruce:Horn it might be misplaced though.
Tanner:Net 20 gets an attack right
Bruce:You said that well.
Fraser:I may barn is the most metal character in this campaign.
Will:Apparent fucking lame man just stabbing kids
Fraser:standing table
Tanner:so he runs up to the top he gets he actually doesn't he doesn't climb all the way to the top what he does the comes up because these guys are pretty close to the edge. He grabs that his leg tries to pull up the block off
Bruce:you boys ever played Assassin's Creed before?
Will:Oh, yeah. Such a good day. He just killed another another grown ass man.
Bruce:Another child that could have fought in the medieval times because they're actually older teenagers. Not children. Yes.
Tanner:Not chosen grabs. He grabs this scrawny boy's leg
Bruce:this cue I see this? Yeah, you do. Boy fuck. I should have done that.
Tanner:All right. Shit. Okay. Yeah, so this kid just kid falls 20 feet. And you see him hit the ground the wind is knocked from him as hard and gets all the way to the top
Will:of very ceremoniously.
Fraser:We gotta find a good body smack and pavement.
Bruce:Oh god. I'm sure you can.
Tanner:Oh my god. So Bruce, you are right next to the green that you have damaged before? Okay. All right. So that is the end of horns turn the reds in the center. Zeke will snap his fingers twice and two of them will come off with their concentration on the stone. What this means is that the charge is going to be halved for this round. But still the energy in the stone in the center continues to build up. At this point you kind of start to feel this vibration. There's no sound to it, but you can feel it in your bones. The shaking Have the air around you the leaves on the trees nearby are trembling in this vibration Zeke and these two that have come off of the the dealio I'm going to go ahead and we're roll a d for to see who they attack the two randos on odds they'll attack my bark on even they'll attack six two the first one
Will:do you mean the coward bar bark?
Fraser:Oh down tomorrow
Will:yeah, I wouldn't book that one guy right
Tanner:I mean, like they kill you out right now alright, so they they will attack they're both attack six. Hey, that makes my W huh? All right. One of them seeing where they are will cast mirror image on themselves. And you can see them begin to multiply you hitting them will be much more difficult. The other one will look towards you six. And he makes eye contact with you. You can feel this strange feeling wash over yourself. I need you to give me a wisdom saving throw please.
Will:Oh boy. Come on. Give me good. 1510 plus five.
Tanner:That's that's on the fucking cars.
Will:If he ties it goes to me.
Tanner:It does tie yes if he was 15 All right. You can feel this. It sort of feels like he's presence becomes domineering for a moment and you're able to shake it off and pull yourself away from it. As he looks just a little upset that it didn't land alright. That will be the end of the Reds turns Zeke However at this point too many fucking spells man there's no way they have that spell. I'm using a particular thing there's no way I'm doing eight D six damage No.
Will:Oh cool fireball Yeah, I carry no our level three characters. Fireball fireball.
Tanner:I was like what the fuck?
Will:You probably kill me out right?
Tanner:Yeah, probably. Alright.
Will:Mark is down. He would be in that fire right next to it.
Fraser:Yep, big dead.
Tanner:Okay. What happens is Zeek reaches out his hand and this beam of blue white light streaks out towards you this cold passes through. Potentially if I hit and I don't you can feel this this just frigid Ness pass over your shoulder and see the frost build up on your clothes. If that had hit you, it would have been cold ray of frost nice. It wasn't. Alright, that's the end to Zeke Stern. It is now the two blues turns that Harlan and Archie left down to the bottom they see the immediate threat is six to what they're doing so they'll both run around to the side and attempt to hit with Fireboats Jesus Christ
Will:Yes. I love that Jesus Christ because it's not a good one for Tanner.
Tanner:Yeah, well it's it's not one might hit
Will:1780 both have a mess I sort of feel cold on the left shoulder hot on the right shoulder and six says wow I appreciate your your attempt at controlling my body temperature but I promise you I've got this
Bruce:did I take damage? last turn?
Tanner:No you haven't taken damage yet.
Bruce:Fuck all right. I'm at a rage.
Tanner:Oh unless you hit or you
Bruce:attack take damage or Yeah, I followed a rage by incap or fire and my turn ends where I haven't attacked hostile creature or taking damage. Or I can end it on my own obviously. Okay. Out of rage.
Tanner:Damn. Alright. That ends the blues turn we're back up to six and Mark bark. What happens now Martin Park is that we're going to do death saving throw away if
Will:we go to save time. Can I stop that?
Tanner:Yeah, okay, you're actually before him in the order.
Will:Okay, I, okay, okay, let me give a little bit before before we go through the dead saves because I know Fraser has never had a chance to roll a death save. And Sorry friends, you're not gonna get that chance today. I got one spell slot left you getting it, buddy. I'm gonna I'm going to help you out. So we're, um, first of all, I'm going to use a Healing Word on Mark Mark. So that's a this is my last spell slot period. Level one. So it's just one D four plus six. And that is two plus six. So you get eight health back. So you're at eight helps. Because you go down to zero. You don't go to negative one. Yeah.
Tanner:As soon as you feel this energy pulling you back to consciousness. You you can feel a tinge of it's not a tinge. It's a pretty strong feeling of disappointment from the entity. Oh, your friend.
Will:He was trying. He's trying to get you to get Okay, so let me get away. I'm not
Tanner:your buddy pal. Oh, no. No in the way that he disappointed. You know the disappointed he's disappointed that you went down. He's disappointed in you. All right, so disappointed you didn't die.
Will:Let me get a lay of the land Nacho by the pack. He's not your friend guy. The red cloaks are standing between me and the stone. Right? Two of them are concentrated on the stone. So they're not it really in combat at all. They're just concentrated on doing the stone thing.
Tanner:Correct? Yeah.
Will:Are they directly impeding my path to the stone?
Tanner:No, they are on the either side of Zeke. Okay. This one's for me.
Will:Yeah. Okay. So the stone itself does it have like an aura around it that makes it feel like nothing could be penetrated? I'm just thinking for later like, I don't roll Arcana. Okay. Specifically, I just want to see if it's got like that shield that everything else in this fucking building has had on it. That's an 11 on dice plus, minus two. No. Arcades plus two now. Okay, are my intelligence not bad?
Tanner:Okay, so 13 Yes, it might. It might. Okay. It might. The energy coming out from it. You can't tell you can't discern if it's if it's shielded energy if it's if it's just open to contact.
Will:Well, my thought, okay, screw it. I'm just gonna do what I'm gonna do. Okay, six. Paul gets his mace out, pulls it over his head and runs straight at Zeke. Like this with the mace over the head. I gotta, I gotta explain it better just like to holding the mace above his head and run straight at Zeke. And when he gets you
Tanner:get an attempt to jump over the stone.
Will:Oh. Okay. Okay. All right. My bad there behind the stone. Okay,
Tanner:I understand.
Will:I understand. Yeah. Okay. So he holds it up over his head. And he's gonna run straight at the to the two guys doing it. And when he gets to it, he's gonna throw the mace just throws bass at one of the two guys and then tackle the stone. Like, straight up tackle it.
Tanner:Okay, all right. So there's a few things that you're trying to do. I'll allow I'll allow this you're basically falling prone onto the stone Yes. You're gonna go right or left
Will:right.
Tanner:Okay. Go ahead and give me roll a deed 20 i It's not a throwing weapon so you don't add proficiencies to it you're not using this weapon for its intended purpose.
Will:No head roll straight. I don't even think he gets proficiency I'm not proficient in throwing a mace. Yeah, that's a 12
Bruce:Okay
Tanner:advantage because he is straight up concentrated on the bubble and not moving.
Will:Oh, that's a 16
Tanner:Okay, that will hit Go ahead and roll. Ah 112 For sure to provide a weapon for for Wow.
Will:I hit him in the head. I write a noggin Yeah,
Tanner:you throw this mace Adam crunch. It actually digs into him. With the with the handle out. His face just drops. He looks out at the mace and tries to maintain concentration on the stone and does not do it at this point there is one person concentrating on the stone which means that it'll just it won't go up as much for the charge on next turn. You however, land on the jagged white stone in the center. As so
Will:remember being jagged but damn it, whatever.
Tanner:Yep, as soon as it's rough. It's just it's like not a smooth stone. It has rough and sharp edges. Not that it's going to pierce Oh
Will:yeah, you're good. You're good.
Bruce:You don't have to worry about the stone. You got to worry about what's coming out of it.
Tanner:Yeah. So what happens when you touch the rough white stone is and inky blackness begins to pour out and ride around it and wrap around your body. Mark bark as you are healed and you watch six. fall over to this stone. I gave you too many actions this time six ball let it happen. Can we just say I just was ruined?
Will:Yeah, actually the column is definitely not good. What's your
Tanner:mark mark what you see is this thing. So this this inky blackness slithering around him. And it is now starting to concentrate towards his head. But then all of you realize that there are no sounds coming from the rest of the city. No birds singing, not even the sound of wind. A chill runs up you're back, Archie, as you recognize this lack of sound and you know what's coming?
Bruce:OFA? Six. What did you do?
Tanner:The the Reds around. All of them pause what they're doing and look down at you and are just confused. Zeke yells out if you ruin the fucking something it could have just fought like, where did you find everything?
Will:Do I recognize what's going on? Or am I too entangled in this black mass to really be able to, to warn him
Tanner:actually what you think as you try and and say something as you start to get these sort of feelings. You see yourself pulled back out of out of your form and thrust into some other vision. And what it is, is this rapid movement through the ruins of old Leylen and you feel this. This need this need to find what you're seeking. And as you move through the rubble, you finally hear it. This breathing of this small thing and you turn the corner and there it is a small green, pointed eared humanoid who is absolutely terrified.
Will:Oh fuck off.
Tanner:And six there is that bit of recognition in you as you've kind of melted in this feeling. It is Rangi and you are hunting Rangi you can feel its heartbeat as as you stare at it and you you don't hesitate as you rush towards it. And you don't feel yourself engulfing it. You don't feel anything at all. You just need to find out where to go next. You need to find out where it is calling you. And all of a sudden you feel it. You feel a connection and you make your way off towards the west towards the thing that is pulling every portion of you towards it. Six I need you to make a wisdom saving throw please.
Will:Yeah What don't fuck that was dead I died
Tanner:you feel like you're not just losing a portion of yourself in this moment but freely giving it up it is something inside you that's being taken away wanting to find the connection some sort of connection that was was lost a piece of you that you feel is missing and and you think that you can maybe find it here inside this immense hunger is the only thing that you can define this beast as and you can see yourself crossing over, following some faint trail crossing over the cobbled causeway going up the stairs on the other side cutting south along the other side of the wound back across near this small town on the edge and moving ever westward. With increasing speed.
Will:Where did it go? Did it go through Leylen You said around, David. Okay. All right, go just keep going. You good so
Tanner:West faster and faster until on the horizon. There it is a town that you think you've seen before. Walls on all sides outside lute music playing but it's not the music that draws you it's something inside these walls. And you crash through the front gates and people there stare at you and you think on the way on the way to the thing calling you i can have a little bit of this and you start rushing through the people spinning out your black inky tendrils all around this smoke engulfing the people of the town. Every living thing in here. Part of the whole
Will:WHAT THE FUCK
Tanner:at this point, Mark bark and Archie you can see this the the blackness surrounding six. Most of its surrounding his head. What do you do?
Bruce:I turn and jump off the roof. And prep to roll when I hit the ground was an acrobatics check. Okay, take some of the damage away.
Tanner:Yeah. Give me the aren't you at one HP? No. Okay. Yeah, that's right. That's right. Yeah.
Will:Yeah, I
Bruce:Yeah. Was that one and then I did
Will:my clerical thing. Go for it. 13
Tanner:you hit the ground, and you're able to roll but it wasn't perfect. You didn't negate at least half of the damage that you would have taken. You only take one damage just you hit the ground.
Bruce:So apparently it was it was it was it looked awful, but it felt great is what you're
Tanner:Yeah, you're just like, oh, I kind of twisted my ankle function over
Will:form baby.
Bruce:And he's just gonna mark Mark marks awake, right? Yeah.
Tanner:Mark Mark is Yeah, yeah.
Bruce:Okay. Yeah, as he's running towards he's gonna I don't know how much distance I gained by running and leaping because I assumed it wasn't just a straight down leap. But as he's running towards six full, like, just full blast right now. Yeah,
Tanner:you're not I'm gonna let you have your full movement from here to there as you're jumping down and we're able to succeed that you're not climbing down so you can take the 30 feet to get to get towards the center.
Bruce:Okay. All right, Mark bar, get ready to run. And I'm going to try to grab I'm just gonna try to grab sick. Oh, and just yank him out.
Fraser:Are we still in the bubble though? Are we not in the bowl? So
Tanner:there's only one quarter of the bubble left and from his portion he's able to run around it.
Will:Or no, it's about okay.
Tanner:You You go around and you reach down to grab six. What aren't you would do? Yes,
Will:I know. I know. It's so good. It's so good.
Tanner:And as you reach down to grab him, are you trying to pull him away from this or just pull everything you can up? Like you're just trying to get him out of the situation? Yeah, you're just pulling them up? I don't know. Yeah,
Bruce:I'm trying to get him to the point where I can carry him and run because I know what the fuck is coming.
Tanner:Okay. All right.
Bruce:Like fuck show laundry. Fuck this place. Fuck all these people. The only person who's my family right now six and Mark bark so we're living Okay,
Will:I'm leaving. and leaving
Tanner:give me a fucking horse.
Will:Dammit.
Bruce:I'm also going to Yeah, as I'm doing all this I'm also going to yell horror and we got Joe
Tanner:Yeah, okay
Bruce:because you know, horns kind of thing
Will:he's pretty dope he's pretty dope
Tanner:Okay as you reach down and touch six the same thing does not happen to you Oh really? What this does grant however this connection this this attempt to do this it will give six another wisdom saving throw
Will:that Tino dice plus five All right okay God that was a okay good
Tanner:you are you are pulled back and wrenched out of the hunger
Will:first thing out of my mouth is I'm so hungry
Bruce:as you're being hoisted in the air under my shoulder Yeah,
Tanner:you are you are being lifted up which is good because this feeling of near unsurmountable weakness fills you So Archie picks you up. You have I will give you one option six would you like to pick up the stone as you're being pulled away?
Will:I don't think I'm cognizant enough to pick up the stone I think are if Archie's picking me up and pulling me away. I would not I was literally the being so I could not come out of it be cognizant enough to be like yes, give me the stone gotta get it. So
Tanner:Archie, you pick up six and you begin running towards the nearby windows and just make out which direction are you running in? Actually, are you trying to run towards the door in the back of the courtyard the one that everyone else came in or one of the windows on the sides?
Bruce:Well I can go through a window
Tanner:you can go through the window if you want to.
Bruce:Is there is it window to town or is it window to drop to town window
Tanner:window to interior of Manor?
Bruce:Oh yeah, fuck it. Let's go. Okay.
Tanner:You keep running towards making the straight line from picking up six all the way to the other side using your action
Will:across Where's board border this
Tanner:watching this happen? Waiting you smashed through the window on the other side you come into what looks like one of the bedrooms located on the first floor with a view of the the exterior here. Interior exterior, the courtyard. All of the Reds at this point, look so flustered at everything that's happening. You hear Zeke yell out. Keep the summoning going. At SCOBY. The power is circling here. It's almost done boys. And then Harlan from the other side begins. He jumps down as well. He takes a little bit of damage as he lands a little awkwardly and starts running towards the same window that you guys ran to the blues down at the bottom seeing you guys start running off we'll go towards the center and try and help out the reds. The next person up is six and Mark bark. So six we're going to forego your turn. You can talk here in a moment. Mark bark you see everyone else fleeing the scene? What do you do?
Fraser:And I'm still standing here like more or less face to face with Z.
Tanner:Yeah, he's now seems fixated on the stone again. The one thing that you hear in the back of your head is get the stone
Fraser:Okay, so I'm gonna point to the ground behind Zeke and say oh, Zeke, did you drop that?
Tanner:Okay no, he he looks up at you. And yells at the Greens above. Get down here and take him out. You do anything else? Yeah, I
Fraser:reached down and grabbed the stone and just haul ass in the direction that Archie and antics went
Tanner:okay, actually their their fucking way They don't have they're not high enough to have the reaction spells and they don't they're not fighters so they're not using weapons to try and get you so none of them are able to do a reaction on you as you pick up the stone and attempt to run with it. It is it's a sharp stone and it's got all this weird black stuff moving around it but you don't have any sort of connection to it
Fraser:well I tossed it in the bag of holding or for to better carry it more easily carry it is now in the bag.
Will:Dude I love it because I don't think Berkshire does what he just did solo XP you sit the demon to an extra place
Bruce:burner attainers Giant Allah Watani that's obviously not what happened but it's
Tanner:I broke the game. You've done this you take it you throw it in the bag. How quickly are you getting stuck out?
Fraser:Very very quickly on my way out I turn around Yep.
Tanner:All right. Cool. You start running away now we're gonna go ahead and say that we are out of initiative order as Fireboats at this point follow you all right, you make your way everyone is now in this this bedroom. You guys are getting the fuck out. Right?
Bruce:Okay, I am.
Will:So do I have I gained my cognition
Tanner:you are able to talk now. Okay,
Will:Archie, I can run. I'm good. I'm good. We've got to get the fuck out of here though. Where's bark bark?
Tanner:As as you say that? That's the glass behind you. As you guys open the door in front of you out to the room and into the hallway Mark bark comes in. behind you and from the courtyard you hear horror and yell to the right.
Bruce:Okay, we got to the right I got it.
Will:Yep. Okay. Following Archie in her room at this point.
Tanner:I harem horror horror. Alright. Alright. Alright Firebolt splashing around you igniting the curtains on the inside hitting the bed. Everything in here is set ablaze as you cut to the right into the hallway. From behind you you hear horror and basically cry out quickly in pain. It sounds real cool, though. It's a grunt. And as he runs into the hallway behind you, you can see his his clothing is on fire and he rips his sleeve off and toss it to the side as he follows it easy catches up to you. He looks at all of you and says follow me. There are secret passages out and he starts making a beeline to the back of it.
Bruce:I have no reason to distrust him so yeah.

Tanner:Hello, soldier. This is guard captain horn. I know you've experienced a lot of stabbing, especially at cross tables in this story I want to let you know that it's not always like that. Especially now since I'm emotional support guard captain Harland. Let's support one another through the rest of this story. If you're up for it, share it with others. And if you meet in the obstacles, just grab your sword reach out and thrust directly into their sternum. It is highly effective Yeah, you guys no longer have any idea of what is happening out in the courtyard.
Will:Archie. We didn't get Dennis.
Bruce:I don't give a fuck about Dennis. I care about you. And may and might be these two. Let's go.
Will:Is Margaret caught up to us now? Can we just say that yeah,
Tanner:Mark Mark Mark is there and you don't feel actually yeah, you don't feel anything? You don't feel anything sakes. Nevermind. Yeah, Mark. Mark is there.
Will:Oh, okay.
Tanner:He's caught up. He's caught up to your everyone's together basically when Harlan got to you we're all together.
Will:Okay, fuck Dennis. All right, let's go okay.
Bruce:We are well past caring about any body but ourselves right now. And Archie's mind,
Will:I will explain to Archie as we're running because I don't need to breathe. I'm just talking normal as we're booking it down the hall. I explained to him what I kind of saw. And this that thing is here, which I guess he I'm sure you already know this, Archie. But
Bruce:this as soon as that stuff touched you? Yeah. Honestly.
Will:The worst thing is, is I went through Leylen In my vision. I don't know if Leylen. Still there. In other words.
Bruce:Well, we'll know soon enough. Let's go.
Tanner:All right. The three of you follow whoring out through this winding passage beneath the kitchen and out the backside. You actually come up in what looks to be this sort of shed on attached to some sort of outbuilding outside Hiren says to you what are what are we running from? I felt something but
Bruce:we're running from a thing that stops you from existing doesn't make sense. I don't know how to explain it to you. But we need to go.
Tanner:Alright, well, we are on an outbuilding behind the wall if that thing is in the city i i am sworn to protect these people I've got to go back but you may continue from wherever you want to from here
Will:but if it if it helps you any of those people are no longer there to protect in fact try to remember their names
Tanner:you you see
Will:his just one of them.
Bruce:We see him have an aneurysm yeah
Tanner:you basically you see his face toward as he tries to
Will:just one reason?
Tanner:Well there is
Bruce:it's a weird feeling like you should know people are there. In fact, you probably know people are there but for some reason just can't remember the names right?
Tanner:Well, yeah, I have to I have to go back for that idiot. quicks Partridge he's still there in the manner
Will:podrace his life that's good to hear.
Tanner:Then there must be other people in the town there's there's Mary who runs the bakery. There's there's
Bruce:Horan jumped through a fucking window into a courtyard full of wizards beaten half to death. Yet, I'm afraid of this thing. And that should tell you something
Tanner:called persuasion.
Bruce:Head doesn't matter. It's low. Okay.
Tanner:It doesn't sweat him. He opens the door for you outside and from here you can see you're near the back died off in the field beyond you can see Aaron as you're standing there on his stump he's not playing with our horses yet the horses are still there and he is just looking off towards the towards the city
Bruce:as soon as I as soon as hard and turns around I just look at six and Mark bargain I say all right, he's lost. Let's go
Will:wait hard one last question before you go. Have you been to Leylen before?
Tanner:I have not been through it I know of it.
Will:Okay. Okay, good. Thank you. Godspeed.
Tanner:He gives you actually a bit of a bow crosses his arm over his chest and then goes back
Will:oh god six has never seen a bell before.
Bruce:Oh six is gonna bow to everybody six bows back.
Tanner:Okay it's a nice moment. He nods and he goes back to the tunnel. Yeah, so you guys are on the outside that sort of the backside of the city. Then like I said, you see Aaron as your with your with your horses off in the distance or on his stump?
Bruce:I just I'm running let's go let's get out. He just
Will:listened to me I know you can't talk the way I can't while we're running.
Bruce:But I gotta tell you something
Will:in my in my vision eight Rangi
Bruce:do I know who arranges Yeah, you know Reggie's. Okay. Well, we'll figure that out when we get there but it's another bridge to burn but you
Tanner:also you I mean you remember Argo mount got to remember Yeah,
Bruce:I just didn't know I didn't know if it was like I didn't know if only before we got taken if that's what we're
Tanner:saying. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. No, if you if you think about it, if you think about you know, so if I gave you the same snare of saying you can remember the black hole collective, the Onyx company? Yeah, that would kind of run through the same thing. But yeah, you remember you remember Rangi you can actually remember if you try and recall faces from inside the town, you can remember them as Oh,
Bruce:okay. All right. So we are outside of that this potential things effect at this point even though we've
Will:Okay, that's what it seems like. Yeah, so you want to fuck up the deal? Ah, hey, Mark Bart. Do you remember the guard captain
Fraser:though oh one that just left no hair Hiram. No
Will:in that Do you remember the all the guys from the from the jail okay, we won't do that. We won't do that. No, let's
Tanner:do it. Let's do it. Baby. Give me the list. Give me the list.
Will:The was like guards. 18 people guard whatever. Yep. So
Tanner:that so when you were freed? You remember the guards that they freed as well from the jail cell? Yeah, yeah. You don't remember any of them? No.
Will:So to you, you would remember? Just me and Archie coming in there and saving you?
Tanner:Yep. And for some reason, if you tried to think about it, you can't remember who puts you in the cell you just know that you were there somehow. It really bothers you to try and think about it that's absurd.
Bruce:Like I feel like his his war lock in thing would be like Don't you do it? Yeah. It'd be for me that would probably get a little weirdly meta but yeah,
Fraser:like was he you still remember why he was there? Just not who put him yeah, you
Tanner:will remember the reason that you were in the jails? Yeah. Okay. Yeah. And you could think logically that someone would have had to put you there but you know, you can't recall them it's a good feeling. All right. You guys eventually make it up to Aaron and the horses. Aaron doesn't even notice that you approach even though you're all running full speed and making a lot of noise.
Bruce:I start snapping in his face.
Will:Here Thank you for watching our horses. We'll be leaving
Tanner:you guys we're back all right. Cool. I was just like, what was that over there?
Will:Dread Wait, I look at the town do we see it
Tanner:No, the walls are too high.
Will:So you saw it
Tanner:I saw this you know I saw this thing baby. I saw this thing just kind of Rajesh across the landscape and then it kind of you know like wiggles this in black smoke it tendrils inside the town. Should we set up Iran? No, I think you've
Bruce:got a better idea. Let's stay course you don't want to these waters that two of us will have the right one. We Gotta go.
Unknown:Oh shit. I'm going on an adventure. I mean, I was expected to go into the town but I guess there's like some sort of thing and now I don't want to mess with that shit, right?
Will:Absolutely. Precisely. Mark Mark here with me. I helped mark mark on the back of my horse.
Bruce:Right yeah, we only have two horses Yeah,
Will:no we're good for people two horses Let's go.
Bruce:Yeah no no I for some reason I thought we I magically so I want to hear from Mark
Will:Oh yes. Oh there's a horse for
Fraser:grabs six by the hips are whisper in his ear six
Will:Hey Mark Bart, how are you? I get no sexual references if that's what you're doing right now.
Tanner:Okay, yeah the
Bruce:the weirdest part about this listeners right so
Fraser:that's what makes it okay.
Tanner:Okay, together and shit, right? You're fine. Or was the age gap too much? I don't know. Okay.
Fraser:It was like last week. Last week
Tanner:the four of you mount up on these two horses. They certainly can handle it especially since one was reference to being close to a Clydesdale and
Will:no Clydesdale. It straight is a class it's a
Tanner:it's a fantasy Clydesdale man. We can call it wherever
Will:van is. Oh, it's
Bruce:a willow Dale Clyde's
Tanner:it's a Route north nautical Okay. That's a wombat. wombat.
Will:Okay, so Bruce Bruce
Tanner:and call it a wombat. Let's confuse everybody.
Will:Bruce's horse is a Stang and mine is a bigger Stang so we call it must
Tanner:not allow you to fail. Alright, it's because you guys you guys to to a horse. Aaron is your is on the back of Archie's horse. Archie I need you to give me a wisdom saving throw eight you get a contact Hi
Bruce:No no I haven't experienced before friend.
Tanner:Yeah, it actually kind of makes the the impending doom a little bit more bearable. So that's nice. All right. Where are you guys head back to Leylen Leylen book okay, yeah, you guys are really start putting it to the horses making them gallop as fast as they can with two people on each each one and you guys after a hard day of travel your horses are just covered in the form of sweat and are near exhaustion as you push them to reach Leylen as you come into town everything here looks normal.
Bruce:Yeah, but we already know that this thing doesn't affect landscape. Yep. But so that's irrelevant right? Yes
Tanner:correct. Okay, but also you notice that the people that you expect to be here
Will:great are Oh, okay yeah go fucking so okay
Tanner:all right. The four of you make your way over to outward enterprises. I'm guessing Are you trying to go to what are you doing? You want to go to bathe?
Bruce:Yeah, I mean because now we have somebody who is a witness to this thing that we saw as well okay. So we're going to kind of I'm going to use this as weight to kind of make him believe it makes him force him to believe us all right, cool.
Tanner:Yeah, you guys you guys pull up outside outward enterprises. The outside the stable stable grandpa comes out for a moment and to he gives you a little wave and rickety these walks over to take the horses from you.
Bruce:That midpoint was my favorite so far. Just want to get that midpoint Nice. Stable grandpa stable grandpa midpoint Yeah.
Tanner:Nice. Do you guys do you guys say anything to stable grandpa you book it inside?
Bruce:Thanks. Stable grandpa.
Fraser:Thank you stay stable grandpa as a character do I like oh,
Tanner:you know, but he's been in episodes but yeah, you don't? Yeah. Yeah. All right. Cool.
Bruce:Marbach stable. Grandpa stable grandpa. Love, Bob.
Fraser:Pleasure to meet you, sir.
Tanner:That's a pleasure to meet you too. I don't remember my name yesterday. But I don't remember it today. So stable grandpa still fine. Stable grandpa. All right.
Bruce:You guys.
Tanner:You guys make him into outward enterprises you see there the elf Bates Sae'Shiir is writing and working on some papers potentially writing up contracts beside behind his large desk in front of the window that overlooks the wound he notices you come in and says I you guys what I was going to say hello successful trip but you guys like shit not successful
Bruce:black inky beasts that we were talking about before and you thought we were crazy showed up we're going to fucking character witness right here to lead can tell you it did and I just 80% of that town's dead I just
Will:thought about who our character witnesses not Mark Mark because he didn't actually see it
Bruce:but there it is your mark marks on the black Enki shit take hold it yeah oh
Will:yeah he did see that okay that's good
Bruce:oh I know who our character witnesses but it's the best thing we have to go now so
Tanner:what so it is this thing following you like Are you the one that are calling it to do to attack these places?
Bruce:I have no fucking idea my six Hanks is here. I don't like that.
Will:Because he hasn't said anything to Archie about that part of it yet.
Tanner:Alright, so okay, I see you've brought two people back now are they both character witnesses or is it just one I mean, I I should be inclined to believe you guys but like last time yeah, it just didn't it you know, but so what have you got?
Fraser:My name is Mark bark. Why do I have a sense that everyone here has a vaguely better understanding of what's going on than I do?
Tanner:I mean, I don't get I'll catch
Bruce:you up. Wet first first job here we went to hear where Mr. Baeth wanted us to go. We were I don't know transported what would you say we happen to a six consumed eaten it wasn't fucking pleasant.
Fraser:Eaten by smoke
Bruce:fucking Archie's eyes are like darting between everyone he's clearly very shaken up at this point. Like, just kind of his his his outer physical armor of like, chill is starting to crack now.
Will:We've already done this. This review one time in the podcast. Let's let's tip we explain everything that's happened to bark bark before we met him.
Bruce:That's fine. All right,
Tanner:I'll allow a montage to happen. And you guys explained it. Bow. Bah. And it
Will:was all like, you have not been here yet. Or some
Fraser:small amount of time passes and you see my face just wide eyed and like, holy shit.
Will:You can see six to eight hand motions like and then big piano Oregon playing and Oh, St Sebastian. Okay.
Bruce:And then it was really weird. Like, everybody's just kind of hanging out or chill. Nice.
Will:He's waving his arms back and forth. FlowerPower
Bruce:Okay, all right. Anyway,
Will:so yeah, that's, that's kind of what happened.
Bruce:Wow, you guys have been through some shit. Alright, guys, I got a question for you. We've known this guy for like, what? 26 hours and he believes this right away. Why don't you we've completed one job for you.
Tanner:Well, I mean, it just it seems so far fetched for you to go to the draft, meet death. Talk to Nevada. Destroy the gallery and make it back here. All in one fell swoop like it you understand how this seems so I
Bruce:would say it was fell. Swoop. We've lost kind of a lot of people that we had, you know, at least acquaintanceship with
Tanner:well in UK you come back and tell me that the blackout collective was in town and they haven't been here for months. So what do you expect me to believe? God?
Will:I wish I would have grabbed that stupid stone. If I would have grabbed that. Maybe you would then believe us? Oh,
Fraser:guys, I have a confession. I look at
Bruce:it just slowly like deadpan, cold, sweaty, pale face to look at looks at Martin Clark. i
Fraser:We didn't leave empty handed and he reaches into the back of holding. He kind of has the fish around on there for a second arm goes way deep. But then he finds it pulls it out.
Will:Oh six jumps back at the side of that thing. Nope.
Tanner:Nope. Okay, fuck. He pulls it out. He whips it out. And
Will:see, look, it's right there.
Fraser:What's your name? Beth. I'm telling you for six hours and I've already seen things that are very far fetched.
Tanner:Erin pipes up for the bat. Yo, I like I wasn't too stoned to see that you know there's a thing
Fraser:this guy knows what's up.
Bruce:As this could be a six,
Tanner:six as you see the as you see the stone, I'm I need a wisdom saving throw from you please.
Will:10 Total bubbles.
Tanner:Everyone in the room sees black tendrils. Reach from sixes face seeping out of the seams behind his mask out his eyes slots and reaching towards the stone as the blackened smoke tendrils from the
Bruce:star put it back in the bag.
Fraser:Oh shit. Oh shit.
Bruce:Okay, I felt like if I waited for your description, it was
Will:sick fesses out.
Tanner:Before you pass out you notice you feel hunger again, which is really weird for you.
Will:I'm so hung. Up
