SPEAKER_02

And what's up everybody? Shawn and D-Man here, and welcome back to the channel. Hope you guys are doing great. Hope you guys are having yourselves a great week, weekend, depending on when you are watching this. We are back with another Nerd Talk Podcast episode with a brand new guest. So to get us going, uh I'll shift it to our guest, let them introduce themselves, and we'll get right into things.

SPEAKER_01

Hi, my name is Sue or Susie, whatever you guys prefer. Um I'm a small little cosplayer here in California. Um I'm also an actor on the side, but mainly just cosplayer.

SPEAKER_02

Oh you're an ac oh you're an actress.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, okay. You know what? That is a great w place to start. Tell us tell us a little bit about that.

SPEAKER_01

Um, so I actually started acting as like a kid, like kind of like one of those um just like random people that just like kind of came up to me and my mom and was like, hey, like your kid could be an actor. And then like um my parents and I were like, you know what, like let's let's just try it, you know. It doesn't hurt to to you know take a chance. And then ever since then, I got actually picked up by an agent, and then I've been doing auditions since then, you know, didn't really get picked up from anything just yet, but um, I've been doing it for a few years now.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, okay. I remember you're I would probably say you're the second person I've had on who has done some form of acting. I had a I had somebody on maybe a year or two ago, and it was interesting because we when we were talking, she was telling me about an audition for a show. Uh she didn't know the name of it or anything like that, but she was auditioning and um they didn't give really in any kind of like description of it or anything like that. Or like, hey, we just want you to come in, play uh just do some blinds for like I think it was like an 11-year-old girl or something like that. Pretty pretty generic. And um and turned up come to she she did uh like that. I don't think she went to the audition. If I remember correctly, she didn't go to the audition, but the audition that would that it was was to play 11 in Stranger Things. Oh and so I was I I looked at her and I was like, you telling me you had an opportunity to play 11 in Stranger Things? And she's like, Yep. I was like, oh, that is wild. That's wild. Uh so tell us uh if you're able to, I know I don't I don't know if you're like under any kind of like NDAs or anything like that when it comes to like look auditioning for shows or stuff like that. If you are either don't worry about mentioning it, but um what what kind of opportunities have you had a chance to like audition for?

SPEAKER_01

Um I've auditioned for a couple big things here and there, and I I should be fine like once once it's like already out, like I've like allowed to talk about it. Um but I've done a few auditions here and there for shows like um American Horror Story. I actually did audition for Stranger Things. Oh one of the seasons, but like one of the later seasons. Um I auditioned for a couple Jordan Peele movies. Um and I actually got a chance to audition for the Avatar The Last Airbender live action that came out like was it last year? Year before that?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, the Netflix one, okay.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, yeah. I remember getting the audition like maybe like two years before it started. Like I auditioned for it, and then I didn't hear anything about it, so I was like, oh, maybe the show got canceled, or like maybe it wasn't like funded, and then it ended up coming out, and I was like, oh, okay, like they were just maybe like getting really deep into it. That's why it was like taking a long time.

SPEAKER_02

Which uh which American horror story season were did you try to audition for?

SPEAKER_01

Uh I don't remember specifically the name, but I think it was the the season, like it was like a camp or like a like out in the woods type of season.

SPEAKER_02

Oh uh like maybe like 1978 or something like that. I yeah, I think I make it like a camp, like a like a 70 80s camp or kind of thing. Um I think that's what it was.

SPEAKER_01

It might have been the season before Lady Gaga, I think. I'm not sure. I'm not really big into American Horror Story, but I know it's like a great show. Like I need to start it, honestly. Like as a horror fan, like I need to start it.

SPEAKER_02

Listen, I um I was an avid um fan. Like, I would definitely I think it would come like on Tuesday nights or something like that, and or Wednesday nights, and I would always be there to uh to watch it. I I've I've I've kind of fallen out of it a little bit. That's mainly because I've had just other things going on and other interesting shows at the time, so it kind of was like, uh, you know, I do want to see it. I know Emma Roberts has she's pretty much become a a May a mainstay of the of the series. Her and um, what's his name? Evan Peter. Um they've become like just part of it. Uh I think I got up to uh Roaranok.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, it was that. It was that one, I think. Oh, it was that Oak. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, okay. I think that's where that's I think that's the last season that I I got into, and then it just other things came up and other TV shows, and so I was like, I don't I I I do want to go back at a certain point and re-watch all of it, get caught back up and everything, but it's just it's just one of those things. So that is interesting. So that one, and then was there like a so for the Netflix Avatar, was there like a general role that you were trying to do, or is it just like village person number five or something?

SPEAKER_01

No, they actually called me in for Ty Lee, which was very interesting because I don't think I'm the Ty Lee type, and also in the audition specifically, like they said, Oh, we're looking for someone who does like gymnastics, like aerial silks, but nowhere on my resume does it say like anything about like that, like maybe like a little bit of martial arts, but like I don't do aerial silks, I don't do gymnastics, I'm not that flexible. So I was like, Oh, like okay, maybe, maybe if I get a lot of Kylie look, but so in my head, I was like, Oh, I'm not I'm not getting this, but like I'll I'll still submit it because like you know, they want to see it, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, uh what was the Jordan Peel movie?

SPEAKER_01

They were all under like so they never said like the title of the movie, like like how um your last guest had um like it was just like oh just for an 11-year-old girl, like anything. Um all they said was that it was directed by him. So one of the projects I don't know what it was for. Um don't know if it's like out yet or anything, but another one, uh, it was for oh what was the one with Steven Yun in it? Um the one with the with the monkey scene. Uh alien. Oh, I don't. I'm like, I was blank on the name. Like I remember the name of like the alien, but like um it'll it'll come to me later. But it was for one of the characters in that movie, and uh I ended up watching it, and then I was like, I don't remember doing any like scenes from the movie, but so maybe in my head I'm like, oh, they just like scrap the character. But yeah, like I keep getting called back for his movies at least, which is kind of cool because like I love horror movies. So I think that would be a dream to like be a part of it.

SPEAKER_02

Uh if you could pick to be in um okay, okay, let's do it this way. Let's say they rebooted Friday the 13th, a nightmare on Elm Stream, street, street, I say stream, street, uh uh Halloween Scream and maybe let's just say uh let's just say Jeepers Creepers.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Which one of those five that you absolutely would want to star in?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I think it's between either Halloween or Scream. Because I feel like Scream has like all the Scream movies have had like really cool, like badass like final girls. And then I think for Halloween, at least from like the newer ones that have been coming out, I feel like they've been getting very creative with the death scenes for a lot of like either the side characters or like main characters. So I'm like, and I'm a I'm a very big like gore fan as well. I love special effects, like I love like researching into it. Um so I think maybe Scream. Or no, actually not Scream, uh maybe Halloween, because I would want to see what they would what they could come up for me, like um like as like a death scene, like especially the one that came out, not the last, I think the one like two movies ago where he like came back and it was like the the great like granddaughter.

SPEAKER_02

Oh that one had some like really good scenes, so I'm like Halloween, Halloween kills, and Halloween ends. Yeah, those are the three that had um Jamie Lee Curtis come back.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Uh I really liked Halloween ends because there's a moment where there's like a moment where I don't remember it was actual Michael Myers or the guy. They had a cool concept that I wish they kind of would have did a little bit more of, and that's like what if this the evil presence that was in Michael passed on to somebody else, and so which it would just grow that legend of Michael Myers each movie because even though it's a different it passes on to somebody else, all people know is hey, that's Michael Myers. I was like, you know what, that would be a pretty cool concept, but there's a there's a scene where um Michael takes like a blowtorch and basically puts it to somebody's face and and kills them. See, and now I gotta I'm talking about it. Let me see if I can find it. It was like a really, really it was actually really creative. Um uh really creative. Let me see. So what so while I'll try to find that real quick. Um what other what other horror movies do you enjoy?

SPEAKER_01

Um, I'm a big fan of the Saw series. Maybe maybe not some of the newer ones, but I'm a very big Saw fan. I love like following the lore of it. Um and I also really like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre series. Um I don't know why. I just love I just love Bubba. Like he's like very I don't I don't know how to put this like a very um I can't I can kind of feel sad for him. Um but I don't know I just I just always thought especially like the very first one was like such a good movie. Um mainly with Saw, I just like how creative everyone is in the Saw series. Like, like I don't know how a person could think of something like that, but it's just very, very interesting to see. Um, like I'm such a big fan that like when the newer movies came out, I'm like, wait, this doesn't follow the lore. This changes of everything. Like I was like very I was like a little bit of a stickler about it, but I still watch the movies. I think besides the very last one where they brought back John Kramer. Um so I still have to watch that one, but I watched like Spiral and Saw X, which was very interesting.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Very interesting. Not my cup of tea, but like it's it's a movie. They tried, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, here it is. Here we go. Let me see. Alright, so this is uh this is that one scene. It is just so cool.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, that's a cool shot.

SPEAKER_02

I know. I was like, oh, that's that is awesome. I love that. And um yeah, because like I always grew I I've always loved I love tour. Like, um I would Friday the first Friday the 13th is probably has have always been one of my favorites. Um street is is good. Halloween, definitely one of my favorites. Uh have you seen let me see if I can run the name off. Have you seen um oh what is it called? Oh, Sinister.

SPEAKER_01

I think I've saw it. I I I saw it.

SPEAKER_02

I think it has Ethan Hawke in it. I think that I think he stars in it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'm not sure if I saw it, but I I think I did. Let me let me because sometimes I like to also just watch like oh yes, I've I've watched it once.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, it's one of my favorites.

SPEAKER_01

I re I remember the what was it? It was like this scene with like where they were showing like like like the different like what was it, like tapes of like how like the kids did it, and then it's like it was so creepy, but it was like I felt like I I love that feeling of like feeling like very creeped out or very scared in movies because I feel like nowadays horror movies don't do that, yeah. But it's like I'm like, oh, like I feel like disturbed, and I feel like like it did it very well.

SPEAKER_02

Um are you a fan of the conjuring films?

SPEAKER_01

Uh I'm I like the conjuring. I'm not I wouldn't say I'm like a huge fan of it, but I've seen some of the conjuring films here and there.

SPEAKER_02

I remember have you seen um Conjuring 2?

SPEAKER_01

I don't think I saw the second one.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, okay, okay. Interesting. Okay. I I like I love the conjuring films. So that's just that's just a development. Some of the spin-off ones, like uh Annabelle, uh The Curse of La La Rona, and the Nun, some are hit or miss, but generally speaking, the four main conjuring films I like I really really love. Um what are some other oh, what about The Strangers? Have you ever watched that?

SPEAKER_01

I surprisingly have not watched The Strangers. I've always told myself, like, oh, like it's time to watch it, it's time to watch it, it's time to watch it, and I never do, but like I think it's like such a cool like concept for a horror movie. But like the first one is really good.

SPEAKER_02

I think the first one came out in 2008, this or 2007. The second one, it's probably not as good, and then they did like a small little reboot of them where it's like uh The Strangers chapter one came out two years ago, and then chapter two came out actually recently, maybe like October or September of last year. But those are terrible, those are just I I I've I I've been aggravated about those movies ever since I was supposed to say, Why are we even doing this? And so but yeah, I love The Strangers, it is just an amazing you need to watch it, it's such a good movie.

SPEAKER_01

No, it's like such an interesting concept, too. And I was like, I was like, I need to finally like sit down and watch it. But I always get like I always end up getting distracted. I'm like, oh like this looks fun. Like, I'll watch this.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my gosh, okay.

SPEAKER_01

So now I now okay, now I'm definitely going to watch it.

SPEAKER_02

Um it's not really it's not really like scary-esque, but it is a pretty pretty cool, fun concept. But it's uh stay a I think it's stay alive. Um basically the premise of the movie is uh these group of friends, they get a they get a video a video game that has not been released three released yet, and they play with a bunch of their other friends. Um basically how you die in the game is how you die in real life. Um and then like come to find out it's like there's an actual curse on the video game. And so it's it's a it's an interesting concept. It has um I think Frankie Muniz is in it. Oh it was a 2006 movie. Yeah, Frankie Muniz, John Foster, Sophia Bush, and a few other people. Yeah, it was a very interesting movie. Um I also like The Village.

SPEAKER_01

I have not watched that one.

SPEAKER_02

The Village has uh Bryce Dallas Howard, which I think it was that was her first uh debut. Uh it also has Joaquin Phoenix in it. Oh it's an it's an M. Night Shyamalan film, I I believe. I'm pretty sure it is. Uh, but it it's one of my favorites. Uh who else is in this? Yeah, it is M. Not Shamalon, Joaquin. Adrian Brody, William Hurt. Oh, Jesse Eisenberg is in it too. I didn't know that. Oh. Okay. Um another good horror movie. Oh, did you ever watch on Netflix? They had the Fear Street movies.

SPEAKER_01

I think I only watched. Oh, I forgot which one it was, but I ended up seeing a scene from like Instagram or something, and I was like, oh, like this this is getting me interested. Um Fear Street 1994, I think. Uh so I ended up watching one of them. Um, and it was the scene where it was like a like a bread cutter or something like that. Oh yeah. Yeah, and then like he like slides her in and all, like I just wanted to see like how they did it. Because like on on Instagram, it was like it was like obviously censored, so I was like, I'm interested. Like, I want to see how they do this like special effects. Um, and it was actually so cool. Um, I think I ended up watching like a little bit of another Fear Street movie, um, just to like kind of get an idea of the series, um, but I never ended up finishing it.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. Uh, then there's also The Haunting of Hill House and Bly Manor.

SPEAKER_01

Listen, I've heard of that one. Um but I didn't watch that one.

SPEAKER_02

See, listen, you got all these horror movies, horror movies right here that you gotta watch.

SPEAKER_01

No, I have like I'm like putting that a list. I like usually I'm the type of person where I like find like my handful of like things that I like to watch, and then like I'm just gonna watch that like over and over again.

SPEAKER_02

Like that's fair. Uh I'm like that with food though. So like I get like once you find that one thing you like, you just consistently get it.

SPEAKER_01

So like until I'm like sick and tired of it. Like, I'm like, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

It's not it's not okay. So this one's not really a scary movie, it's more of like a suspenseful thriller, I guess if you want to call it that. It was a Sundance, I think it was a Sundance film, or maybe it was it was an indie film, I know that that got purchased, but uh The Witch. Uh very good movie. Like that is probably one I would highly recommend you you you watch. It is such a good movie.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I have heard about this one, like I See it everywhere. So it is on my list.

SPEAKER_02

So good. What other uh good horror movies have I watched over the years? It's always fun going to the movies and watching horror movies because they were like so The Conjuring 2, for instance, the uh when I went and watched it with a friend of mine, we there was like a scene, like this is after like paranormal stuff had happened. Um like police officers come to the house and they're looking around like no, there's nothing here, and they hear like tapping on the wall. Um one of them grabs like a chair out of the kitchen and like leans their ear against it, uh to hear and they hear knocking, and the knocking stops. And as soon as this this female officer steps off the chair, the chair drags itself by itself by itself, moves from the hallway back to the kitchen table while everybody just watches it, watches it happen. And somebody in the theater, it's like quiet, it's like quiet in the thing. And somebody in the theater was just like, Man, they calm as hell about that. And everybody just busted out laughing about it. I was like, oh my gosh, this is this is great. It's it's always fun like going to watch horror movies when you get a bunch of people who are scared who could get scared easily. It's just it's the best.

SPEAKER_01

Like I I love going to places like horror nights, and then um like usually like sometimes like I would go by myself like on like a day off, like I'm just like, I'm gonna go to Horror Nights. Um, but it's so different when I go with like a group of friends, especially when they're like scaredy cats.

SPEAKER_00

No, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Usually like the mazes like won't scare me. I'm just like admiring everything. I'm like, yeah, like the makeup's really cool. Like I love how they did this. But when I go with my friends, like they're like clinging on to me, and I'm like, why am I actually scared? Like, why am I like when they scream, like I start screaming, and I'm like, like, oh, this is like kind of fun.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, we have uh we have a a horror thing here called Atrox that is like one of the one of the top places uh to go to, and it's really cool because sometimes they will have uh stars from different horror movies and stuff like that. And the first year I went, um they had uh the actress who played Carrie in the original, I think, 1960, 1970 film. She was there, that was really awesome. And then another year I went, they had the guy who was Michael Myers in a couple of the films as well. So that was very, very, very cool that they had they had that. So I always love when they bring uh guests like that on. It's really really cool. Um because it's fun it's fun because we it was we went, um, it was like for my friend Zayn's birthday, and we went. It was like all of our first time. It's like five or six of us in. Um we went, and there was a part where we're just like going through like a swamp area, and there's like this witch on a porch yelling at us and everything, and so we're all like looking at her, but a guy with a chainsaw comes out from our from the left side of us, and we all like scatter around. Uh my friend Jimmy lost a shoe. Oh uh I ran into a wall, and uh yeah, that was that was it. So it was a wild night.

SPEAKER_01

No, those are always fun. I like so I sometimes I love like dragging my friends, and like it's it's it's so fun. Like, I'll just like try to like egg them on, being like, ah, it's not that bad, it's not that bad, and then like they they come on at the end, and it's like you said it's not that bad. I was like, but you had fun.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah. And then we then there's like six flags over Georgia, they'll do like uh they do like a Friday kind of thing, yeah, where like the the park is open basically well it's open all day, but you can also ride rides at night, and there's like people dressed as zombies walking around. So I love stuff like that. So love it, love it. Uh so other than being like a huge horror fan, uh, you're also a gamer too that I've noticed.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

So I think I I think I caught some of your stream the other day when you were playing Marvel Marvel's rivals, I think. Uh so what kind of games do you typically like to play?

SPEAKER_01

Uh mainly right now it's a lot of like rivals. Um, but I do like to switch it up here and there. Like I play League of Legends, uh Tekken 8, uh very rarely Valorant, but not not really. Um but I I guess like I like to say I'm like a variety streamer. Um, but most of the time it's just like what I'm playing like that week. Uh sometimes like I'll play like a little bit of DVD. Um, but you know, that game's like kind of dead, so like no one's on it, sadly. Um but mainly a lot of like multiplayer games. Um if I'm not playing alone or like solo queuing, I'm like often playing with my friends a lot.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Um, I don't really play that many like solo games. I honestly do those like on my own, um, just so like I can take them at my own pace. And like sometimes like if I start a solo game on stream, it's like sometimes I want to play when I'm off stream, but it's like I want that genuine reaction, so I'll just like play it on my own. Like, yeah, I did that with dispatch when it first came out, and I had so many moments where I'm like, I want to continue, I want to continue it. But I'm like, I know I have to start stream if I do. So I was like, I was super patient.

SPEAKER_02

Uh, because I didn't want to play that yet.

SPEAKER_01

It's this very good game, it's very, very good game.

SPEAKER_02

I've heard yeah, I've heard a lot of good things about it. Currently, like, because besides this one, I uh I have a game, I do a gaming channel as well, which that was been the longest of the two, but I think right now we are what am I doing over there? Oh, we're playing um Spider-Man Web of Shadows, and then like once this is done, well I'm uh hopping on to stream um Battlefront 2 for a little bit. Oh and so, yeah, and so I'm surprised. Have you played like any horror multiplayer games?

SPEAKER_01

Um, I've well besides Dead by Daylight. I have tried the other ones, like the Friday the 13th one. But I love that I remember playing that like a few years back, and it was super buggy. Yeah, uh, but it was really like it was a really fun game. Um, although I try to get my friends to play it because it it's it's better when you're playing with friends.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um, but no one really wanted to play, so I just like ended up kind of dropping it. So it's just in my Steam library, like collecting dust. Like maybe I might convince some friends to get back on it though.

SPEAKER_02

We played it uh quite a few times, and one of like one of the funniest moments that happened, because we had like uh there's only like four or five of us, and so there was one it was random, but we were me and my friend Tiff, uh, because part of one of the things one of the ways you can escape in the game, you know, is like fixing a car or whatever. And so me and her, we fixed a car, and we got in and we're driving, we're about to get out of there, and I noticed on my mini-map that I saw another player. I can't remember if this was like a friend of ours or just a random person that popped in to play with us, but like, and then the way we were going, where they were going, we were gonna like intersect with each other, each other. And so I was like, okay, we're gonna slow down, and when they can hop in the car, we can all get out of here. And as we get closer and closer to one another, uh, I tried to stop. That person stops in front of the car, they get ran over and die, and and we were just like, all right, we're just gonna keep going. I was like, I'm sorry, whoever you were, but we're like we tried. Yeah, we we we definitely tried to try to get you out of there, but uh I love that game. Uh have you tried Phasmophobia?

SPEAKER_01

I have. I have um that's like maybe like the one horror game like my friends will play. Um I don't know, it's like it's like some like sometimes I try to get people on it, um, and then sometimes um I try to get people on like other games. Like I think Phasmophobia, it's very fun. I think for me, it's just very repetitive. So I like I like to change it up a little bit, or like I wanna like I genuinely like wanna get scared. Um well there's another game that's very similar to that, but I think the jump scares are a little more intense.

SPEAKER_02

I know there's like Demonologist. Never that was kind of like Phasmophobia.

SPEAKER_01

Let me see if I can find it. Because I think the only clips I have up on my Twitch channel are me getting jump scared. Oh my god. Um, like again, like I love getting jump scared, so uh those clips are me like screaming for my life, and then like right after I just have like the biggest smile on my face. Um let me see. Because I remember when I played that game for the first time, like on my own, like I was like actually like, oh, like this is this is freaking me out a little bit. Um I think besides that Oh, Devour. Devour, yes.

SPEAKER_02

I'm so curious now.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, because that one at least has like very very big jump scares, at least. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_02

Oh no, come back. What are you doing here?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, look behind you.

SPEAKER_02

Wow. Oh, that was pretty Yeah, me and my friend Tiny, we played this and uh it was actually a fun game. We had a lot, we had a lot of fun with them because we we were playing on a map where we had to like sacrifice ghosts.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my goodness, it's very smart idea to stream for me.

SPEAKER_02

It is what it is, I guess. But uh that was a very fun, very fun game. Um yeah, I know that's one and then Demonologist is kind of like that one as well, and then Phasmophobia, but yeah, I could see yeah, I could see that where it kind of gets like repetitive and things like that. So I can understand that.

SPEAKER_01

I think um as for like solo games, I really, really enjoy um oh, they made a movie about it, but it wasn't really even accurate. Um, let me guess.

SPEAKER_02

Until Dawn.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, Until Dawn. I was a big fan of that game. Um, I played like multiple playthroughs. Like I even like cosplayed from it like back when I was a kid. Um, and then when the Quarry came out, I I streamed that game and it was it was so fun. Like honestly, one of my dream roles isn't even like a big like movie or or like a like a big TV show. Like, I would love to be in a video game like that where it's like motion capture and it's still like it's still like acting, but you know, it's like one of those like oh, like you decide what happens kind of game. Um like if I get one of those roles, I'm like, I'm done. Like I can stop acting, like I'm happy. I crossed it off my bucket list.

SPEAKER_02

Um I love oh, I loved Quarry. I love Until Dawn.

SPEAKER_01

So when the movie came out for Until Dawn, I was very excited. Like maybe a little bit of you know the story aspect too, but didn't follow the story. Um, I guess they were just doing it for the the sake of like the premise of the game, which is very cool, is a very cool idea. But as a as a diehard fan of Yeah, he could have called it something else.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, uh yeah, I remember that was like a lot of uh gripes people had with I actually I actually I actually enjoyed it for what it was trying to do. Um I thought a lot of the concepts in it were relatively cool. Um and then it uh then they they basically like they teased the sequel because I think at the end of it it uh it showed on because there's like a part towards the end where I forgot the character's name, but like uh the guy who's behind it all, uh Dr. Hill, he has like a file of uh Josh from the Until Dawn game on his desk, and then at the end there's a there's a I think it was a computer screen that showed the exact house from the game as like a black SUV pulls up. So I think they were teasing if they were gonna do another one, it was gonna be the game, the actual like the game of it. So it's like honestly.

SPEAKER_01

I see, I see. Yeah, I feel like that would be that would be interesting, but I feel like the with the direction they took it in of like making it a literal game of like surviving until dawn, like maybe might make that story a little different. But I like that they added that though. Like that's like honestly, like a kind of like a good like homage to like what inspired that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Have you played uh the dark picture anthology games?

SPEAKER_01

No, but my friends were recommending me that um because I liked you know the quarry and held on so much. Like they were like, I think you would really like this. So it's on my wish list. I'm like, it's on my like playlist.

SPEAKER_02

There there's there's four, it was a fifth one coming out. The first two are probably not that great. But I mean, I like I still like played them, and I was like, okay, this is interesting. But the last two, House of Ashes and uh The Devil Enemy are really, really fun and really, really good games out of those four. So you're you're you'll you'll probably see like once you play through it all, you're like, okay, yeah, these first two are like a little hope is interesting, but it felt half baked. I felt like there was more they could have done with it. Um, but it is what it is, I guess. And so um because typically we play uh what else are we doing? I'm doing Spider-Man Sh uh Web of Shadows and then Oh, we're we're um me, my friend Tiny, my friend Scott and Kane were playing Baldur's Gate 3.

SPEAKER_01

So we're doing Oh, I love Baldur's Gate.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so we're going through that right now, and that's that's fun. We've been doing like four or five hour video recordings of it. So it's uh it's been fun though. Like I played a little bit of it, I haven't beaten the game. Uh Tiny's played a little bit of it, and then Scott and Kane, they've beaten the game, so they kind of pretty much know all what to expect. But it's been relatively fun because like I the other day I was like, I've come to the realization that we just kill about almost everything that's in our way. So um, and uh there was a moment where because we had Tiny go, we were in the in the Emmer Grove, and we had Tiny go and talk to the goblin that was like locked up in there. And you know, I was she she let the goblin get killed, and I was like, Tiny, did you uh let her get killed? And she was like, Yeah. I was like, okay, well, never mind then. So I was like, we can just we can just go. So uh it's it's been fun. We've had a lot of shenanigans, that is for sure.

SPEAKER_01

No, it's a it's a good game. I've been trying to get my friends to play it, but they're not that type of gamers, like they they just like, you know, rivals, Valorant, and I'm like, come on, like a nice story game would be fun. Like this is based off of D. Like, please.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you're if you're a lover of D D, you should definitely love this game.

SPEAKER_01

And like, I know like a lot of like the girls love, you know, Astarian and so it's like it's like I try to get my like girlfriends on it. I'm like, come on, like, look at her, like they can they can be your new crush. Like, I know you want to play.

SPEAKER_02

Everybody was just all the rage about him. Like, oh my goodness. Um, so switching on to your cosplays, tell us a little bit about that. What I know, I know, I think you mentioned you've done a little bit of it, but like just give us a brief overview of your of the cosplay experience that you've done so far.

SPEAKER_01

So I think if I remember correctly, I started cosplaying around like 2015, 2016-ish. Um, because I always loved anime, like I loved video games, like um, and then my mom, who is in the Hollywood industry as like uh a I guess you would call it seamstress, but she makes a lot of costumes for like movies and TV shows. So every Halloween, like ever since I was like a little baby, like I'd always have like handmade costumes and like oh wow. I was always very specific, like instead of being like, I want to be a princess, I want to be a fairy, it would be like, no, I wanna I wanna be the red Power Ranger from this specific series, like so. I would always have like um a lot of access to like great costumes, and then that eventually moved to um oh, like this isn't just a Halloween thing, like I can go out and do this at conventions. I think when I was around like middle school-ish. Um and then I started cosplaying from there. Um, my mom teaching me how to like sew, make patterns, eventually making props and wigs. Um and then I took a little bit of a break, I think around maybe COVID era to like maybe like 2022-ish. Um, just because like I got busy with school. Um, none of my friends at the time were very like big anime fans. Like, I didn't have anyone to go to like conventions with. So I was just like, you know what? Like, if I'm going alone, I'd rather save money.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um, but recently I've been getting back into it. Um, because like I just miss like the cosmic community, like I missed how like nice everyone is and like how welcoming it is, and just finding like more people that you know like the same thing as you do. Because also, like, I'm I like to consider myself a pretty big introvert, so it's kind of hard for me to like make new friends, but then like when you're at a convention, you know, like people are like, oh, like cool cosplayers like oh you like this series, and like it turns into a beautiful friendship. Um, so you know, like, and then from that, like I'm trying to, you know, branch out more into like content creation, you know, doing collabs with a lot of cool people and like the the anime, like video game space, and you know, from that I'm like making like even more cool friends. Um so you know it's it's it's been a big blast, like just like being in the community and like coming back to it.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. Um anime. So, what kind of anime have you been watching, or just in general, what's your favorite kind of anime that you like to watch?

SPEAKER_01

So I would say like my top three is gonna have to be Bleach, JoJo's, and Prison School because this is a funny show. Um, but recently I've actually been watching, or I just finished season one of Gachiakuda or Kachiyakuta. Uh it's a great show because my friends want a cosplay from that. So I was like, okay, I gotta start watching it to like cosplay it. Like, I don't wanna you know put on the cosplay and be like, I have no idea who my character is. Um that's a really great show. Uh, I love shows like Soul Eater, um, or on High School Host Club. Uh Another's a great show, Kill a Kill. So I think my years. Such a good show. I I recently got reminded of it because I went to go get a tattoo, and my tattoo artist, uh, his whole station was was filled with um like a lot of like studio trigger stuff. So like um kill a kill, mainly grunt. Lagon, which I have to start. Um, and I was reminded of that show and and how good it was.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, those used to come on like Toonami and stuff, and it'd be like because I remember growing up watching because I grew up during like the time of like Inu Yasha, uh Yu-Yu Haka Show, like just like shows like that, late night Toonami stuff. So that's that's kind of where I got grew up in the anime. Not really after that, like I'm not like a a huge avid anime fan. I've started to branch out of my spare time to watch some anime. Um I was I was telling this to somebody the other day we that we did an episode with that I just finished watching season one of Goblin Slayer. Uh which is a it's an it is an interesting show. That is, that is for sure. Um and then I told him like after I finish all that, I'm gonna check out Fearen? Fearon?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, Fearen.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that. And so I'm gonna like check because everybody's been talking about it, because we were talking about the like the number of episodes, because I was telling her, like I think season one had like 20 something episodes, and then season two only has 10, and so we were like talking about that, and she was like very frustrated about it. So I was like, Yeah, so um but yeah, so that's where like my anime stuff is because like I mean uh because we've also been doing going through um I don't know if you've heard of it, but it's a show called Vandred.

SPEAKER_01

No, I've never watched in it.

SPEAKER_02

It was like it was like a random anime that would like come on TV when I was a kid. Like I I because early, early direct TV, there was like this channel that would like have anime pop up sometime. Um and that was one of them. It was that one and Witchblade. And so very interesting. They were good shows, I liked them. So um, because I was I was rewatching uh Vandred, like at least the first episode, I was like, why did I like this as a kid? And then I was like, I forgot that then they showed some of the the female characters like oh, that makes sense, that's why. Um but it's pretty they're both pretty cool shows. Um so yeah, so let us jump over to your Instagram and uh talk some cosplays and just other random stuff as well. So we've got just do it this way. Yeah, we'll just do it this way. So I guess first one we could start with. I don't know if these are cosplays. I think these are just regular photos.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah, yeah, those are just regular photos.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, okay, yeah. What about this one?

SPEAKER_01

Yes, that one. Uh that one was like back when I was in college, like in my own little dorm room. Just like uh I was just kind of like messing around. I think I was like, at the time, I was I wouldn't consider myself a big TikToker at the time. Um, but I did used to have a small following before I completely restarted my account. Um, and so a lot of my content used to be very anime video game focused, so a lot of like jokes within the anime community, or you know, a lot of cosplay. So one of them was the Sukuna, like a female Sukuna cosplay, because I was just like really bored in my dorm room, and I was like, you know what? I think this will be fun. Um yeah, that was one of my one of my transition videos. Um yeah, it's not one of what not one of the first ones, but I think around the time where I was taking a little bit of a break from cosplay. Um, so I was just like, let me let me whip up something really quick.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, okay. And then uh what we got here?

SPEAKER_01

Oh the Squid Game season one, season two, so or the first part of Squid or Yeah, season one. Uh Squid Game Season One finale for I think Chong Hoyon's character. Uh I like forget the character's name because it's been a while since I've seen Squid Game. Um, but that was my Halloween costume for that year. I think it was still around COVID time too, so I didn't go out. I just literally like put on the makeup, took some pictures, and I'm like, that's my Halloween post.

SPEAKER_02

Um they do like an American version of that.

SPEAKER_01

Uh that's what I heard that they were like teasing that.

SPEAKER_02

Probably won't be good.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you know, like I don't know. I feel like because like the whole premise of the show is like, you know, like doing like kids' games, like very violent like kids' games. But I feel like already American kids' games are already a little violent, at least from the ones that I used to play growing up. I'm like, they're already plenty violent, so I don't think you can like put a twist on this, if I'm gonna be honest.

SPEAKER_02

That's true. Uh let's see, you just vibing, it seems like it's just me vibing.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, and then yes, I uh I think before I was a before Bleach became my number one, I was very big One Piece fan. Um I think I stopped though around Egghead. Um I think while like egg I think when Egghead was just coming out in the anime, so like like like end of Wano. Um but yeah, I cosplayed Perona. This was anime expo. This was one of the or no, I think I only went day one or one day that year, but um I did do a Perona cosplay. I did have more pictures, but I was with my ex-boyfriend at the time who was Mihawk. Um, so I ended up deleting some of them.

SPEAKER_02

Understandable. Understandable.

SPEAKER_01

Those were the only Pirona photos I had.

SPEAKER_02

Um did you enjoy what are your thoughts on the Netflix live action version?

SPEAKER_01

Uh like I'm gonna be completely honest. Like, I watched that thinking, you know, like, oh, this is not gonna be good. Like, most live actions are not that great, like right, right. Even the ones they make in Japan, like sometimes aren't the best, but like you know, if it's like an American version, it's gonna be even worse. So I actually went in thinking, like, oh, this is not gonna be a great show, but like let me just watch it to compare it. And I think they like when I watched it, I was like, they actually really did well on the casting, like, and I I know that Oda helped with the casting as well, like making sure that the characters represented were represented very accurately, like um the guy who plays Luffy Inacki, if I'm yeah saying it correctly, like amazing Luffy. Like, I think just him himself, like personality-wise, is Luffy, and then um same with you know, Tas Skyler. Um, I was like, I was like, who is who is this guy playing my beautiful Sanji? Like, I don't want him to ruin Sanji, and then you know, just seeing his acting, the way he portrays Sanji, and then even just like how he is as a person. I was like, oh my god, this is this is Sanji. Like, you did a beautiful job, and you know, um Nami, Zorro, like all that amazing. I think the only one that I think was a little like weird for me was Usopp, but like in a weirdly, like like a compliment kind of way. I was like, I think you're too cool to be Usopp. Because I I love Usopp, like he's my favorite character. I literally have like a small shrine like on my desk of like Usopp figures, plushies. Um but you know, like pre-time skip Usopp is very, you know, like very like awkward, kind of like almost a little bit of a loser. Like his main redeeming factor in like his him joining the crew was that like you know, like for me at least, was the fact that like he cared so much about like his like Usopp crew, like the little kids, like and I was like, Oh, okay, like I'm watching live action and I'm like, you are way too cool to be Uso, like like you were putting a little too much riz on him. Like, I know for a fact I know Kaya's in love with him, but like I know he's not kissing Kaya, like like that in the anime. Um, like I mean he's he still did a great job, you know. Like, I I love how he brought my my favorite character to life. Um, I was just like, I wish he was just like a little bit more of a loser, just a little bit, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Uh what are your thoughts on the looks for Nico Robin?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, she's beautiful. Yeah, I think they did a great job. Um, I'm very excited. The only thing I'm not as excited for is Chopper.

SPEAKER_02

Um he looks a little awful, but it was a tall task.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, no, it's definitely a hard thing to do. Um, you know, like when when the Sonic live action movie came out and just looks of Sonic came out, like everyone was like, This is weird, but then they just nodded, guys. They ended up changing it and the the audience loved it.

SPEAKER_02

Um they're now going on their uh fourth movie, I think.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, which is uh surprising, but I am gonna watch it. Um I was actually pretty surprised at how much I liked the first Sonic movie. I was like, this is very, this is very sweet, very cute. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Oh listen Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik. Like, you couldn't ask for anybody better, honestly. Like in my party.

SPEAKER_01

So perfect to the T. Like, I was like, this is amazing.

SPEAKER_02

I I love Jim Carrey. He's I grew up watching a lot of his films, so he just he just become a huge favorite of mine. Because I see Netflix one piece. So season two drops March the 10th. Oh, so we're getting actually relatively close to it. Okay. Uh but yeah, I know like that was like one of the big talks of the season two trailer that came out like a week or two ago, was like TikTok was just plastered with like Nico Robin and everything. I was like, oh my gosh, guys. Um listen, I don't know, I know you guys love her. I I clearly see why. So I'm excited to see this character.

SPEAKER_01

And then like even the side characters, too, like um uh like Vivi, um Mr. Mr. Nine. Like it's been such a long time since I've seen that part of One Piece. Like, I'm like forgetting everything. But I'm really excited to see how they're gonna execute it. Um but you know, I have high hopes. I have high hopes, you know, for the series. I'm just I think I might have to get a little used to Chopper. I've just just a little bit. Um yeah, I am excited.

SPEAKER_02

So are you a party type of person or like I know you mentioned you were an introvert, but when it comes to parties, are you like to just are you a wild party person?

SPEAKER_01

Oh it depends. Like I won't go out of my way to like go out and party or like go to clubs, but like if my friends want to go, like it's um, I'll go with them and I'll still have fun. Um mainly though, like I'll try my best to stay home. Uh, you know, I'm very much of a homebody, like my social battery goes out very fast. But um actually recently I have been going out a little more for very anime focused events or like um like cosplay events, like recently I've been going to like those like con after parties, like to see like what it's all about. And honestly, they're they're pretty fun. You see a lot of interesting things, you know. Like I'm just like, oh, like that's uh this person cosplaying on you taking some shots, like that's very funny thing to see. Um but yeah, only like if I'm with my friends, like like ever you know, be at a big party or like a club.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, all right. So here's another cosplay.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, my Yor Forger. Um I actually have not caught up to Spy Family. I think I'm like still in the middle of like season one, but I think this one was very last minute. This was one of the cosplays that I actually didn't end up making myself. Um, because I needed a very last minute cosplay for I believe this was this was either WonderCon or LA Comic-Con. One of the two. Um, and then so I ended up getting that cosplay online, and you know, I was I was you know, I had a good time. Like a lot of people ended up really liking the your cosplay. Um, it was very fun, very, very nice, comfy cosplay. Um, I wish I had other people to like cosplay, you know, Lloyd and Anya, but it was so fun regardless. Okay, what is oh, so that one is actually not really a cosplay. Oh, but it's a so I do I also like K-pop a lot, so I do go to uh a bunch of K-pop concerts here and there, and the way I like to dress for these concerts is like I like to recreate an outfit, like a like a very iconic outfit that they wore for either like a music video or a live show or a concert, and this was actually a recreation of I believe of winter from Espa. Um, I forget which award show it was, but it was for an award show. Okay. Um, so I've I didn't have my hair dyed at the time, so like I was like wearing a wig and everything, and like I was like, I'm a full commit to this outfit. The girls might not see, but like I'm gonna have fun. Like I like to treat concerts like um conventions sometimes and like recreate outfits, you know, put my cosplay hobby into like something else.

SPEAKER_02

Did you uh I I feel like I feel like it's probably gonna be a yes, but uh how did you did you like um K-pop demon hunters?

SPEAKER_01

Yes, I did. I actually do have a K-pop demon hunter cosplay somewhere on my page, I think of all three girls actually.

SPEAKER_02

Um I had I had just recently watched it. Because I was curious, I was like, because everybody was just blowing up TikTok about it and everything, and then I was seeing how a bunch of cosplayers do it. It's like, all right, we gotta we gotta see what this is, and then watched it. I was like, you know what? I get it.

SPEAKER_01

The music's great, uh, the movie is great, like the animation is beautiful, and like you know, I come I went into it thinking like, oh, this is gonna be another like cringe, like K-pop bait, like type of movie, and then I was like, oh, the music's actually kind of good, and then like at the end of the movie, I'm like crying. I'm like, I'm like, why is why why is this making me feel this way? Um, so that one's actually very like casual Zoe. Um, because like at the time I had like the baby bangs and everything, so I was like, uh, this was for my old job, uh, where I used to be a bartender. And um oh, yeah, I would often like sometimes do casual cosplays as a as a bartender, um, see if like people kind of pick up on it, and some people do, which was a very, very fun opportunity, like very fun thing. Um, I'm no longer a bartender, but um, I don't know, maybe I'll pick up on it. And then this one was my roomy photo shoot from Anime Expo last year. Um, and this was actually when the movie had just come out, so it was like maybe anime expo was like I think like two weeks, or like one and a half weeks after the movie had come out. And I was like, I need to I need to make this cosplay now, like I need to beat everyone to it. Oh what so um I think at the time like I was like one of the only K-pop demon hunter cosplayers at the convention. Um so a lot of people were very surprised. They were like, the movie just came out, how do you have this? I'm like, and like, yeah, like I I made I made a very simple version of it, you know, like when when she has like her demon marks. Um but it was still a very fun cosplay, and it was actually very fun seeing all like the little kids who were like going to the convention, like they were like very really happy. They're like, oh my god, it's Ruby! It's very cute, very such like a heartwarming moment, you know. And this one, this one's a little different. This one's um from Marvel Rivals, Luna Snow. Um, one of also another cosplay that wasn't made by me. Um another very last-minute cosplay uh for I believe anime in yes, for anime and pulse, it was on the post. Um because I think this day I was performing at the same venue, but they were holding a different convention because anime and Pulse also holds K-Play Fest. So I was performing at K-Play Fest um in the morning, and then so I actually ended up bringing a cosplay so I could change into it and enjoy the rest of the convention. Um, and so I was like, you know, maybe I can cosplay Luna Snow. It's it's still like K-pop, but it's also like a little bit of video game, so it kind of works. Um, so that was like a fun time, you know. A lot of like rivals, cosplayers loved it. Um yeah, my I might bring that back because a lot of people ended up really liking it, but we'll see. We'll see, maybe making it a little better. And this one was actually very recent um for ALA. Uh this one was actually also another very last-minute cosplay from like Amazon that like I ended up tweaking a little bit to like kind of fit my body a little bit better. Um, but it is kind of from Demon Slayer. Um surprisingly, a lot of people really liked this one, even though it was last minute compared to my other ALA cosplays. Um because I was cosplaying Bleach the other two days, so not a lot of people really recognized it. But of course, Demon Slayer, you know, like everyone's watching it, like everyone recognized it. Um, but it kind of was still like a fun cosplay. I had it in my closet for a really long time. I just never ended up wearing it. And then so I was like, you know what? I need a cosplay for like the last day, so why not why not just wear this one?

SPEAKER_02

You know, there you go. There you go. All right, uh, last one here.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, my soy fan. So this post actually surprisingly ended up blowing up on Instagram. Uh oh, I see. Yeah, I did not expect it. This was a uh tweaked uh uh Amazon Shihak show, you know, like the regular ones that like all the lieutenants, captains, all the soul reapers wear. But it was um tweaked a little bit to be to look like Soy Fon's uh outfit. And my hair at the time, you know, had a lot of layers, so I was like, okay, I can like recreate the Soy Fan hairstyle. So very comfy day. Did not think people would like it that much. At the convention, it was very not as noticed, but online I was like, oh, people are starting to really like it. And then I go to sleep, I wake up, I'm just getting like a bunch of notifications for this post, and I'm like, like, I'm like, oh. Like, what is going on?

SPEAKER_00

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_01

Um, but people ended up really liking it, and I'm really happy people did because you know, currently I'm very obsessed with bleach. So I'm glad to see that there's a lot of love for it. Um, because I was very surprised because I always knew Bleach was part of the big like OG big three, but you know, it gets no love, like there's barely any merch for it, like barely any cosplayers. If I go to Artist Alley, barely any artwork. Like, I was so I was honestly so sad. And like, if I met another bleach cosplayer or someone who noticed that I was soy fun, they'd be like so happy because like they're like, I haven't, I haven't seen another bleach cosplayer in so long. Um, but hopefully it does get more love because the finale is coming out, I believe, in like July-ish. So, you know, it's gonna wrap up, you know, the rest of Thousand Year Blood War and going to um, I believe up until the finale. So it's gonna be finished. Um, so hopefully it gets more love. Oh, yeah. I hope I love all the characters, like it's great. It's it was I binge watched through the whole thing, and like I think it's kind of like three months, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Interesting. Okay. Alright, guys, I think that is where we will end this episode. Thank you guys for hanging out. Thank you guys for watching. SPEAKER_02
