The boys are back in the Branch View studios for the week 7 pod. Join Producer Tim, just a guy Quincy, mouthpiece Miles, and special guest, Cody Canen, filling in for Commissioner Kyle. The boys recap the games from week 6, give their picks for the week 7 matchups, and dive into the data now that we're approaching the halfway mark of the season.
Welcome, welcome, welcome. We are here in studio, the branch view studio, the far west side of Indianapolis with producer Tim Miles, yours truly Quincy, and a special guest, Big Data, Cody Kanan in studio. In person, in studio. I am here. Welcome.
SPEAKER_02Filling in for Commissioner Kyle. No one knows where he is. He's filling holes, if you will. I think he he uh he was on team Kamala tonight. He was getting her ready for that uh Fox interview. I think what was funny is I can I at least I'm speaking for me. I don't think any of us had any idea that Cody was coming. Nope. So we're all sitting in the kitchen, just sort of like, I don't know, talking shit. And I hear the door open. And I'm like, oh, Kyle's here. So I just we just kind of kept on going. And then I turned my head to the left, and my brain, it took me a second to realize. I was like, that's not Kyle. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Smart move on the commissioner's part to just like a surprise, a surprise guest.
SPEAKER_02And not even let us know so that we don't have time to be like, what the fuck? What's going on? But no, this is great. He's got a he's got a proxy for the pod. We like it.
SPEAKER_01Proxy. Do you think he's not here because he's whipping votes concerned about a mutiny of his commissionership?
SPEAKER_02I mean, maybe he's seen the polls lately. We'll see how it goes. Um, well, I hope with with having big data on this week, we can get some. I mean, we're kind of what midway through the season. So we can get some high-level analysis, maybe. Yeah, I have some. Okay. That'd be great. So what happened this week?
SPEAKER_01Well, I'll tell you, I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. This team, myself, speaking for myself, it's so sad. But we're starting to see some streaks. We're starting to see some teams rip off some consecutive victories. Some people like Jake are on losing streaks.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so I was saying this before the pod of um you know, you're two and four, and I've said this all year, like your record doesn't reflect how good your team is. Like I won with 80 points last week. Like, that's I'm I'm I just got completely lucky.
SPEAKER_01So I mean Yeah, but you start running out of time, and then for a guy like me, and I don't want to spend much time on myself, but I've still got two really big bye weeks where I my key players aren't playing, so you can't really I mean sure you might get lucky and and win, but you're run starting to run out of time when you start running a deficit like a two-and-four team. But Braden Braden has won four in a row. Yeah, and Miles, you've won three in a row now.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's been nice. Um yeah, so we've got Maxwell, four and two, Braden, Cody, myself, Beamer at four and two. Another surprise there. Uh Jake at three and three, along with Scotty, Kyle, and Zach Owen, as well as Kendall. Kendall being three and three, I think, is huge for him. He's been so hurt at the beginning of the year, and he's been able to piece it along. So now as he starts getting these guys back, like he's sitting in a pretty good position. And then you've got people like you, Quincy, and Cameron at 2-4 who aren't out of this thing at all. No, and have some of some of the better teams, and then you've got Pete at 2-4, and then Phil at 1-5. Cody, you've done in the past, like you've compared it to the median. What are the biggest like median moves?
SPEAKER_03Like, where should some of these guys be? Yeah, so I I always kind of keep track of that. Just I don't know. I've proposed that rule in the past, and I think it's an interesting metric to kind of see kind of Kyle's for it, but yeah, it kind of just kind of see where people are. Um so I mean we have some we have some big movers. I know that uh you know, Quin Quincy, well you mentioned Quincy and Cameron. They're 11th and 12th in the league. Against the median, they'd be fifth and sixth overall, which is higher than Miles and I. Miles and I are at uh three and four, we'd be seven and eight. So you know, see those guys moving way up. Um Corbin definitely moved down. Corbin's had a lot of luck this season. I think if you look at his like all play records, so if you if you look at the games against everyone at all times, um he's he's way to I actually think he's the worst. I don't remember the exact grade on that. But um you know, against the median, he is actually twelfth overall.
SPEAKER_02So But if he would have faced almost so you're what you're saying is like if he would have faced almost any other team in his week, he would have lost. Yeah, except for the one he's wild.
SPEAKER_01Explain to me how we would uh utilize the median.
SPEAKER_03So the median would be uh you would essentially have two games every week. So you would go two and oh, one and one, or oh and two. Got it. Okay.
SPEAKER_01And so you would so your matchup would still matter.
SPEAKER_02It would. Okay. Yeah. You get up to like before that. You get up to like two points. So two points for a victory, two points for beating you know half the teams, and then or zero points if you do either those.
SPEAKER_01I like I like that. I don't I don't it it's a change.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it yeah Have you heard of any leagues that do that? Uh that's or is that like your idea?
SPEAKER_03That is a setting on sleeper. We could see that. Is that right? Yeah, so we can we could turn that on today and let's do that. Let's turn it on today.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I I don't know how I feel about it. I mean, really, in reality, like it usually only costs guys like Maxwell the last couple years, I think has had had a lot of points for and he's missed the playoffs because his points against have been so high. Um and then I guess Braden a couple years ago where he made the playoffs and he had like the 13th overall like points four on the season. But usually it's only like one-ish guy that it matters for in the playoffs, but ultimately that could determine a championship. Like Maxwell could have probably easily won the last two years championships just based on his team, he just didn't make the playoffs.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah. I mean, I missed last year. I'm pretty sure I was one of those that I would have been I would have made it. So um yeah, I don't know. But we also like that kind of wild west and you know, anything can happen, and you have a lot of things.
SPEAKER_01I was thinking about this too the other day. If anyone outside of our league wanted to give us grief about something that's probably a fair point to argue, is how big our playoffs are. True. Oh, for sure. I mean, eight eight teams uh get in.
SPEAKER_02Well, and how many times is the eight seed won all of it? I I'd have to give my own.
SPEAKER_01Once once, I think. And that was recently, right?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So okay, or seven or eight, I guess we could look at that.
SPEAKER_01Um but all but all to be fair, the number one seed is only won it once. That is true. That was that was me a few years ago.
SPEAKER_02That is crazy. Um I I don't know. I think having a point for the victory and a point for median is like too much. Like I would almost be in favor of like, okay, you get a point for your victory, and then you get half a point if you beat the median. So it's like the victory is still the most important, and then against the median, you get it a little bit too. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Maybe that's how we that's how we integrated PPR. We started, yeah, yeah. We had to just be a little different. But but on the playoff thing, reflective of sports in real life, most major leagues are going to expanded playoffs. That's true, right? Yeah. Baseball, basketball, football. Anyway. Well, should we get into uh the week six matchups? Talk about the results. Sure. So let's start with uh Pete. Subpar versus Chase and TDs. This was the closest matchup of the week. Uh Pete gets a victory. This is his second win in a row.
SPEAKER_0297.53 to 97. That is incredible. All right, so and this came down to the Monday night game. And so what in effect, what is um 16 basis points? So 0.16. What is what what would you get to do? Two rushing yards. Two rushing yards of the difference in this matchup. Yeah. Or, I mean, I don't know what it is on defense. Like, I guess the only thing it really applies to is defense and quarterback. So uh what is it like? Is that 10 more passing yards? Yeah, I think so. That's wild. I mean, and in because it's one point for every 25 yards?
SPEAKER_01Yes, yeah.
SPEAKER_02And he's got to feel pretty good about getting that win. I mean, with Dallas Goddard, I think he got what one target and then he leaves the game.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah. Both teams had goose eggs. So Goddard, no points. Alex Pierce. Alec Pierce, no points.
SPEAKER_02Uh Garrett Wilson had 20, close to 21. Um, we'll talk about that. I mean, how's he gonna be affected by the Devontae Adams trade?
SPEAKER_01I mean, look, we see this work in Cincinnati, although New York runs the ball a little bit more.
SPEAKER_02But you can't tell me that I mean Garrett Wilson got like what, 23 targets last week or something. Oh, it's stocked down for sure. Yeah, I mean, but and it's not I I yeah, he's still every week playable, but like I don't know, does uh it's gotta move him from like a wide receiver one to a wide receiver two.
SPEAKER_01Um big game out of B. John Robinson, 24 points.
SPEAKER_02Yep. Almost 20 out of Tyrone Tracy.
SPEAKER_01Man, that's been a good pickup for him.
SPEAKER_02Cody. How do you feel about that? I don't know. I'm fine with that. I had lots of running backs. I don't know. You it was it was bad timing though. Like, I looking at it from my point of view, like if I would have done that, I would have been like, motherfucker. Like, dropped him as soon as he has a chance to play. Yeah, yeah. I made the mistake of watching a lot of that Giants game. Oh my gosh, that was a mistake on my part. What? They're hard to watch. Oh, watching just watching the game, watching the Giants is hard to watch. Yeah. Well, so Cody fills in. Uh he's watched very little football, if if any. Yeah, I've hardly watched any.
SPEAKER_03I think that's great. Um that is also why I dropped him because I had no idea about his injury. See, and that's what sucked.
SPEAKER_02We've talked about this like a lot of the these players, like all week they were like, oh yeah, uh, you know, uh Singletary's groin's a little banged up, but he should play this week. Now he's been out for two weeks. Yeah, and you you could have we have a hundred examples of this already this season, and it sucks for even roster management because you're like, I need to put this guy in my IR, or he's in my IR is questionable, but we all know he's not playing. Yeah, and it just sucks because you're it I don't know. Uh there's gotta be like a doubtful status or a way to is there any way to change it in sleeper so that like doubtful is allowed to go in higher, it can go in higher, but well, but the problem is they don't use doubtful enough. They do need just questionable all the time, even so. James Cook is another example. Ray Davis, their backup, goes off. Literally, sleeper sent out an update being like, yeah, James Cook's gonna play. So what do I do? Drop Ray Davis because it's like, oh, he's gonna play on Monday night, and then he doesn't play, and he probably won't play next week either. And it's just like, how do these players go from oh yeah, maybe to he's out two to three weeks or on IR? Same thing with Pittman last week. Oh, he's probably going on IR, and then he goes out and has his second best game of the year.
SPEAKER_01Hey, they're humans, they gotta make these these decisions. I don't know. What's our next matchup? Yeah, let's go to Monday.
SPEAKER_03Before we move on, I do want to point out that in uh 2022, week nine, that it was the uh large our smallest margin of victory by Cameron over Zach. So Zach knows about those close games.
SPEAKER_02Man, so wait, this is the smallest since 2022 or the smallest ever. Wasn't that small one?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, in 2022. But it was Zach that took the loss on that one.
SPEAKER_01So with no stat correction.
SPEAKER_03No stat correction. Yeah. We don't see stat corrections as often anymore. We don't, no. They're they're pretty good now.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Uh my matchup lost to right to bear arms, 107 to 102. This one's got to hurt, right? Like you had a decent week. And this has been the story of my season. Um, you know, he had a couple people on Monday Night Football with the Bengals. He had Chase Brown and uh how do you say this guy's name? Ishiva?
SPEAKER_02Uh Ishavas.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Apparently, and I didn't watch any of the game, and I went to bed um pretty early Monday night, and I woke up and kind of looked at some of the game cast. Chase Brown apparently scores a 30-yard touchdown with like two minutes left in the game. I'm glad I wasn't watching the game.
SPEAKER_02Yep. My God. It's tough. So in in Quincy's losses this year, he has scored 122, 109, 90, and now 102. That sound is not even fair. I mean, come on, producer Tim. Three of those, you should have the win there.
SPEAKER_00It's just we got our ass kicked in the second half. He just got our ass totally kicked. But to your point, I mean, good for Kindle. He's squeaking out these victories. He gets aged on back. We couldn't run to ball. One week closer to Poop than maybe being there. He's turning things around. His kicker gets 17 points. 17 points. We got our ass only kicked the second half.
SPEAKER_02For Kindle, it's like I like his waiver wire moves because he's been so big and totally ashamed on the start.
SPEAKER_00Coaching on coaching did a horrible job. He played a horrible job. We got the second half now.
SPEAKER_02This week he just picked up somebody else. Like I just think he's making it through.
SPEAKER_01The one other thing that cost me the victory was I had Romeo Dobbs in the flex position up until about 12.30 before their one o'clock matchup and polled him for Trey Tucker. And Trey Tucker puts up a goose egg. Yeah. And Dobbs scores. So what's the thinking behind that? Well, with like Tucker's had some decent weeks. Devontae Adams wasn't going to play. I kind of liked the matchup a little bit more against Pittsburgh. And so I was like, yeah, I'll go with him. And also thought that, you know, I I think I'm probably going to win regardless. I think Tucker's the play because Dobbs was coming off this suspension.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And I was like, who knows what that's going to mean?
SPEAKER_02The other thing is, like, Dobbs only catches three balls in that entire game but scores 18 points.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01Anyway. So that's my matchup. Hurts.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but good for Kim. I mean, he's at three and three and yeah, getting guys back in the next few weeks.
SPEAKER_01Cody, four and two now. Big data beats Lace is out 122 to basically 115. Tell us about your matchup.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that was uh it was tight. I didn't know if I was gonna get it. I came down to you know Darius Slayton Sunday night, um which I was back and forth on who I was gonna start, if I was gonna start Hop Hopkins, whether it was gonna be uh Slayton, and it really didn't matter. But uh you know, my son he helped me kind of decide he won't he pushed for Slayton. Yeah, so well and Slayton didn't he go out in like the what second or third quarter? Yeah, so which I was actually okay with, and he can't fumble. And yeah, I I wasn't following the game too closely, but I saw that I was winning at that point, so um I was good with it. I mean good for I mean Scott's that that is hurts for Scott though. Yeah, I mean he would have beat I think all but three teams this week. I think he was the fourth highest score, maybe. Um so that that's a that's a tough loss for him to put him at three and three. Derek Henry has another his 25 points. Chris Godwin with 30. And yeah, to beat someone who has a player that puts up 30 points, yeah.
SPEAKER_02That's a that's a good look. Doesn't happen. Um ETN for him, negative point one points.
SPEAKER_01This is looking really bad. I mean, Tank Bigsby's playing well. I think it might be Bigsby's backfield field going forward. I mean, ETN's still gonna play, but assuming that he's healthy.
SPEAKER_02I think he's gonna be out for a little bit.
SPEAKER_01With this hamstring.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Well, and then he keeps playing that Jackson Smith and Jigba. I mean, he's healthy, but like I don't know, he's just he's barely better than like a guy you can get off waivers most weeks. Yeah. Cody, what are you thinking about Jonathan Taylor? What are you hearing? Uh I ask my wife every day. Well, with him, it's a high ankle sprain. And he's another one, a perfect example of he has a high ankle sprain in the game, tries to come back, can't do it. And then they're like, oh yeah, he might play this week. And it's like, no, we know we've all watched football for years. Like, we're no doctor, but every time a player has a high ankle sprain, it is usually at least three weeks. Yeah, they did rule him out pretty early.
SPEAKER_03That was nice. I I did I did have that heads up. From what I understand, he has not practiced this week. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I heard him on the radio, I think it was this morning or yesterday, they were doing some hit out of the Dairy Queen, him and Anthony Richardson.
SPEAKER_02So dude, I saw that, and they go, Anthony Richardson better have a good game on Sunday. Otherwise, like people are gonna go nuts with this, like his career is over. He got an aggressive haircut. Really? They're just gonna show up. Like a buzz cut almost him in a dairy queen outfit and be like, I think I think his career's over now.
SPEAKER_01Is that it? Yeah, it's but Taylor was talking about, and he was like very upbeat and positive. He's like, Look, I've had ankle injuries my whole career. This this has not been worse than some of the others that I've had. I'm I feel better.
SPEAKER_02Well, he had that one year. I mean, Cody, you have him on your team. Like he had that one year with that ankle injury, and that like nagged him the entire like oh over half the season.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but is that wasn't he doing contract contract negotiations at that time? Yeah, he was air quotes injured.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, he did the contract shit, then he got the contract, then he got fucking that was going into last season, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Anyway, so big victory for big data. Yeah, with O Chain and Taylor and IR. You know, yeah. You gotta feel good about that. Absolutely. How about Kenneth Walker though, Tim?
SPEAKER_02Kenneth Walker?
SPEAKER_01Shout out Michigan State. Oh, I thought he was Wolverine.
SPEAKER_02Are you kidding me?
SPEAKER_01I am kidding you. Thank you.
SPEAKER_02He's a demon deacon.
SPEAKER_01Please.
SPEAKER_02All right. Uh Miles, your matchup. Wait, do we want to put Miles on the 90-second clock again?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, let's can we go uh let's shorten it a little bit. Can we go 75 seconds?
SPEAKER_02Uh yeah, but then we'll just have to stop him. Hang on, I have it queued up. You're on the clock. Okay. Uh uh my matchup, eight. Uh I win 80 to 60 over Phil. I was just lucky to play Phil uh this week and lucky to play him in a week where he didn't score many points. He starts Xavier Hutchinson, who has zero. Um Judy only has four for him. Um Javante Williams has like three. Um on my side, I am so beat up. Like Jordan Mason leaves that game in the first quarter. He already had eight points in it. Um Marvin Harrison has a concussion, zero points. Trey Sermon, just bad. Three points on 18 carries. I think people felt like they were being smart with that sort of like handcuff there, and it's just not. He's just a bad, he's bad. He's a bad guy.
SPEAKER_01Well, and you caught you caught Phil on a week where Tyreek Hill was on by, right? And Malik Neighbors is still out with his concussion.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So tough week for Cody to sorry, for Phil to play anybody.
SPEAKER_02Yep. That's it. I did good. You're done? I'm done. Oh wow. I got nothing to talk about. I my team is extremely injured. I am so lucky. You went two and eleven in all play.
SPEAKER_03So yeah.
SPEAKER_01All right, what's your next matchup? Next matchup's IUI Doc versus SCLSU Mud Dogs, 122 to 107. Maxwell gets the victory. He is 4-2. This team is still rolling. Uh, a little bit of an injury this past week for his boy uh Rashid Shahid, but gets 21 points out of Cole Komet. Five for five, 70 yards, two touchdowns, nothing out of Zach Moss, uh, but still puts up 122. Jordan Love has a nice game. Joe Mixon is back. He looked great.
SPEAKER_02You know, we looked at that Comet Comet pick as like that was a bad pick on his part. I mean, he picked him in the sevens, I guess, which is fine. But he has 21 points in this thing. I mean, he's he's the what? What tight end on the year is he? Number three tight end on the year. And like, that's all you need from your tight end. Is like most weeks he gets you four, but every once in a while he'll pop off for 20 and win you a week. Which that's all you can hope for, honestly, because the tight end is just terrible.
SPEAKER_01Cameron gets 20 points out of Lazard. Kind of a middling game by CeeDee Lamb, 12 points. Nothing really out of the kicker, only three. Another good game for Jaden Reed. Uh Jalen, is it's Jalen, not Jaden, right?
SPEAKER_02Jaden.
SPEAKER_01Jaden, okay.
SPEAKER_02Someone should fare we need to do the work on this. I wonder what a full fantasy football team with only Jalen's in Jadens. Okay, and how they would fare during a season. Well, they would be. Cameron's got a couple of them. They wouldn't be on Pete's team because uh that is not a white name. So um, I mean, I think Brees Hall, another another good game.
SPEAKER_01Cameron's team, even though it's two and four, and we've talked about these things, still a really tough team, not someone that you're looking forward to matching up against. Yeah. And I mean, Maxwell gets 102.
SPEAKER_02Doesn't win high points by only a few points. But I mean, Mac uh Cody, what do you think? Like uh on your data overall, doesn't it look like Maxwell probably has the best team?
SPEAKER_03Oh, for sure. Yeah, yeah. I'm not giving my rankings, but if I were, he would be number one.
SPEAKER_01Your your rankings are welcome here. Uh Braden Abbott, this is the year 0.6, fourth win in a row. Yeah, 126. He gets the high points for the week against Whiskey without an H Tango Foxtrot with 81. Uh Kyle's three and three.
SPEAKER_00What the heck? Here's the deal. I'm the best there is, plain and simple. I mean, I wake up in the morning, I've hit a second.
SPEAKER_01David Montgomery, great game, 20 points.
SPEAKER_02David Montgomery plays 31% of ten minutes in the quarter. He is the most efficient player in the NFL.
SPEAKER_01And he gets high points with benching Josh Allen. Oh, that's I didn't notice that. That's incredible. He played Justin Fields.
SPEAKER_02Oh, did you know this, Miles? I didn't know this until right now when I'm looking at it. Wow. But he did that because didn't somebody chat well, didn't Kyle say something about that?
SPEAKER_03He asked Kyle to pick, and Kyle did not. And so he chose four. Kyle.
SPEAKER_01Kyle predicted that Josh Allen was going to get injured this week. He did. So he I mean, he kind of put his nuts on the table.
SPEAKER_02He really did, and he basically got the same points out of Fields as he would have got out of off by one. But now the now Pittsburgh's saying they're gonna start Russell. Russell Wilson. It's so bizarre. What else could Fields have done? Like whatever.
SPEAKER_01Chris Olave, negative points.
SPEAKER_02What's going on there? I mean, that's I mean, two points last week, negative one this week. Well, he's got a concussion now, so he's out at least a week. Um but if Shahid, that Shahid deal, that looks like that it's gonna be a uh I mean he probably goes on IR. He's take he's going to some surgery in where did it say? Asia or something? No, LA. Oh basically Asia. Oh, I guess that's what I was saying.
SPEAKER_01It's the it's the Asia of North America.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So Braden's team is getting stronger and stronger. We talked about this last week. He's got all of this potential on his bench. He gets Nick Chubb back next week. Is this the year? I think it it might be. Did you guys see this uh letter to the fans of Cleveland that Nick Chubb put out? I mean, it makes me want to cry. He basically tells this story about he gets a call from his agent who had just spoken to the Cleveland front office after his injury. You know, he's got no leverage in the situation. Cleveland owes him no money, he's expecting to get cut. And his agent says, I talked to the front office. Our fan base loves you so much. We want to return that love and take care of you. And so then Chubb ends this letter to the Cleveland fan base with something like, That's enough talking for me. There's only one thing left to do now. I gotta pay you back. These rocks ain't gonna move themselves. Let's work. I mean, just gives you the chills. You know, he's lovely.
SPEAKER_02He's probably gonna go off this season, too. That's great that I had him in his only bad year. Um the football karma. I mean, I think I mean Braden is just looking. I mean, Kittle has 20 points in this thing. He leaves DeAndre Swift on his bench, who has 20. Michael Pittman had 11.
SPEAKER_01But it's like, who are you gonna bench? This team is so deep.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, super deep. And so in a year where everyone seems to be getting injured, and Kittle's the number one tight end on the year. I mean Well, all right, I'm not one to criticize this is the year. As you know, I'm the only fan. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Why in the world is he carrying three tight ends on his roster? Well, he he just moved Isaiah Likely for Fab yesterday, maybe. Got it. Okay. So no longer, but always a fair question. Uh Kyle benches Najee Harris. Najee has 19 points. But again, like you can't necessarily blame him for that.
SPEAKER_02It wouldn't have determined the outcome.
SPEAKER_01And it's just been such a wild ride with with those running backs in in Pittsburgh, and Najee's not played great. I think until this week, um, that's the first touchdown that that Najee scored. He finally gets points out of Tank Dell, 15 points out of Tank Dell, but still bad week for Kyle.
SPEAKER_02With Nico out. I mean, I think that's what makes Tank relevant again.
SPEAKER_01I think this is our is this our last matchup of week six, Jake from State Farm and Team Beamer. Is that the last one? Oh, I think so. Okay, so Team Beamer gets the victory. He's four and two. Uh we were we've been talking a lot of smack about Corbin, and he throws it right back at us, but Jake with just a really 86 to 62. Really poor performance, uh, gets three points out of Dak Prescott. Saquon doesn't show up. Maybe that, and and I'm glad Cody is here for this.
SPEAKER_02How about those Detroit Lions? How about it? Oh my gosh. That was what that was the most fun I've had watching, except for the moment of Aiden Hutchinson.
SPEAKER_03And I did watch that game. I did watch the game.
SPEAKER_02That was fantastic. That was just a thrill, start to finish.
SPEAKER_01It was. My favorite Detroit sports moment this weekend was the ALDS game five. Since we're talking about Detroit Saturday afternoon. Shots fired. Grand slam from the lane train. Shots fired. I mean, you've been talking about your Tigers. I had to bring it up.
SPEAKER_02Well, I you know, it I think that you are feeling now kind of how I felt last week, in that you just felt like you're just hanging on, you know?
SPEAKER_01Like we didn't have good players. Um, we didn't expect to be in the ALCS. I mean, this is kind of cherry on top for the team.
SPEAKER_02I mean, you guys had an excellent regular season. You know, how many did what? 85 wins?
SPEAKER_01It all exceeded expectations, though. I mean, Shane Bieber out week one, our ace pitcher, former Cy Young winner.
SPEAKER_02Here's the deal. You can never win a World Series with the name with the Guardians as your name.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I mean, it's just not gonna happen.
SPEAKER_01That Yankees lineup is just tough. I mean, when you spend that much money.
SPEAKER_02Cleveland needs to go back to the Indians, Washington needs to go back to the Redskins.
SPEAKER_01I'd be fine with Cleveland going to their original name, the Spiders. Why didn't they do that? They should have.
SPEAKER_02They should have.
SPEAKER_01I think that would have been nice.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. You know, I I think that the the baseball playoffs, and I guess you know, last time we did this, it was Tigers had 2-1. They're up 2-1. Up 2-1. And uh it it was You were riding high. I was riding high. I don't think I was talking shit. I was really kind of careful. I did I did wear a Tigers hat last week.
SPEAKER_01I I do want to say this. I asked you, I said, hey, if this series goes to game five, how nervous are you gonna be? And you said, not at all. And I understand that response because the AL presumptive Cy Young winner for this year was going game five. And who was unhittable?
SPEAKER_02Man, he's so unable. Unrunnable, right? Like he had pitched what, 20-something scoreless innings coming in.
SPEAKER_01That's the first grand slam he's given up all year, I believe.
SPEAKER_02Is that enough baseball talk? Yeah, let's um those are the week six matchups. I will say, on Corbin's side, he does get Devontae Adams back. He gets Devontae Adams back, which is huge.
SPEAKER_01I thought maybe we'd talk about that in future segments, not on the look back of week six matchups, Miles.
SPEAKER_02All right, well then let's do it. Do we want to um go over our results from last week? Because I had a re in while I'm talking about this, if someone can pull up what the actual results are. We can't never forget. So listeners of the pod today may have realized Commissioner Kyle's not here.
unknownHe's not.
SPEAKER_02We have big data cody is in the house. And I was like, well, why didn't Kyle show up for the pod? And then it occurred to me. Did you know that Kyle only correctly picked one game last week? And it was me. I didn't do one either, though. Did anyone did anyone do very well? So here are the results from week six. We are not doing well, guys. Um Tim wins Tim and Quincy were tied for the lead last week, picking three correctly. I picked two correctly, and Kyle got one. One correctly on the season. Tim now leads with 23 correct picks. Uh myself and Kyle are at 22 correct picks, and Quincy is at 19.
SPEAKER_01Not good, guys.
SPEAKER_02I mean, so how many games have we had on the year? Like, I think we all like uh we have like a losing record overall in like our picks.
SPEAKER_01So it's 40. Yeah, it's 42 games so far that we've picked. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So Quincy has a losing record, and we barely have a winning record. Nice. Uh I really I got ahead of ourselves. We skipped the power rankings uh that we need to go through before we pick our games next week.
SPEAKER_01Alright, it's power ranking time. Here we go. Week seven power rankings. And I and Cody, feel free to push back as much as you want, okay?
SPEAKER_02I think today is the day that that Cody realized that my uh the Quincy just sort of makes them up on the fly. Whereas whereas Cody has like data and information.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I was very curious.
SPEAKER_01Quincy just kind of has like a vibe. There's a mar there's a little more process to this than than what happened.
SPEAKER_02That's right. Thanks, Miles.
SPEAKER_01Number four number 14. Last week this team was 13. They dropped one spot. It is filling holes. Yikes. Filling holes in the 14 hole.
SPEAKER_03Sorry, Phil.
SPEAKER_01Moving up a spot, and I'll tell you, 13 and 12. Uh, you know, I I could see an argument for having these these flipped, but at 13 is subpar. Yep. I got Pete at 13. At 12, no movement, is Kindle Ross. Kindle's at 12. At 11, dropping a spot is Zach Owen.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. At 10, I'm sure there'll be pushback here. Coming off of a loss, Quincy. I've got Camartis Kids at 10. Too low, right?
SPEAKER_02Sucks you're that low. I mean, but you are two and four, but I think you're better than your record is.
SPEAKER_01But at some point you gotta win the game. Moving up two spots, and you just can't, even as much as I really dislike this team and don't think this team there's probably a probably sneaks into the playoffs. Corbin Beamer. Corbin's at nine. He moves he moves up from 11 to 9. So what's the magic? The magic number seven, right? Yeah, he's probably getting in the playoffs. Yeah, he's at four. At eight, dropping a spot. Tough team. Really, really tough team. Not not a good week in week six, but uh week seven power ranking spot, number eight, IUI doc.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Same story as you. At seven, dropping down the power rankings from four is Jake Adams. Jake's at seven.
SPEAKER_02Big drop. He started out three and oh, now he's three and three. Yeah. And he dropped a lot of players. I mean, he just went yeah, cut.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. He's aggressive about it. At six, moving down a spot from five last week is the commissioner Kyle. Kyle's at the sixth spot. RIP. At five, moving up a spot is Scotty Allen. Lace is out. Okay. At four, jumping four spots. In studio with us this evening. Big data. Up to four in the power ranking. All over the place this year. Wow. At three, also in studio this evening, is MAGA. Yeah, I disagree with you. No change. But no change. And you're coming off a victory? I know. I'm four and two, but it's a three in a row. Is that two in a row or three in a row?
SPEAKER_02It's not a powerhouse. Like, that's my my team is beat up. I am not. Winning's winning. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I'm not there. At two, uh, with his largest fan base coming out of uh North Central Africa. Right now. 0.6.
SPEAKER_02You think they listen to the pod?
SPEAKER_01Yes. Absolutely. Is it like NetJoy Flicks? Is that what it is? Yeah. And at number one, back to back weeks and the number one. Actually, yeah, back to back weeks. Ryan Maxwell. Yeah, out of here. Very nice. And Ryan was number one week four as well. So he's he's been in the number one spot for a few weeks so far this season.
SPEAKER_02So Cody usually does that that graph at the end of the year where people are moving. Yeah, loving things. So volatile. It is, yeah. I feel like Maxwell's team is one of those teams you see who wins it all, right? Because he's like, he's always right there. And then yeah. When he dips, it's still higher than a lot of the other teams. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And usually we have one team that kind of sits on the top and one that sits on the bottom, and then everything else is crazy in the middle. But this is about the time I usually build it. So I should build it.
SPEAKER_01Is it time to stop hating on Maxwell so much? I feel like we do give him a lot of grief year over year about moves he makes.
SPEAKER_02Is it one of the you know original bits on the top was you had to say something? Say something nice about Maxwell. The thing about Maxwell is like it's not he's not overly humble, I would say.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, him and his little Bugs Bunny meme gif, whatever it is, or as Kyle calls it, a memey or a jiffy.
SPEAKER_02I mean, it's better.
SPEAKER_01It's um I gotta tell you, you know, Kyle's not with us this evening. Yeah, but he's with us. He's no longer with us, people. It was the most relaxing car ride I've had to the podcast all season long.
SPEAKER_02It's great. I guarantee Kyle is chattier than Ann. Kyle's chattier than Anne. 1,000%.
SPEAKER_01Kyle's and he talks at such a high decibel. Like I get out of the vehicle and we get to shoot the podcast, and I can't, my right ear is ringing.
SPEAKER_02He's just a chatty, chatty guy. You know, he does call it a memey and a and a giphy. But a memey. Corbin, so Corbin in the chat today. I mean, he still says, I seen I seen it. What the fuck can we use fucking English here?
SPEAKER_01Also, does he intentionally lag on the pods? He's like, I I listen to everything a week, a week later. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02He's always just so busy. Very busy. He creates it for himself. But in in that, um he did say he saw that UFO that that Kylie saw. Or he synced it, I guess. Okay. Okay. This pod took a stran the strange turn last week. And if you guys if you would have stayed later, I would say the UFO discussion was extended. It was. Extended cut.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. We should have just kept the mics rolling.
SPEAKER_02I mean, it's good. It's good. I'm just trying to open Kyle's eyes. I mean We did ask after the pod. Open your eyes, sheeple. I brought you. Oh, I've never even heard of that. I know.
SPEAKER_01What's the subtitle? Visitors to this planet in a lantine in biblical times are with us today. Whoa. The Skype. Oh, it sounds great.
SPEAKER_03It looks well worn too. Do you think uh annotated copy by uh Grover Cleveland Baxter?
SPEAKER_01Do you think Coco will read this to you at night when you go to bed?
SPEAKER_03I hope so. Story time. She's a really good reader. I brought this. You know, we've had our rough times. When did you get this? It's a long story. I I have connections to I almost feel weird holding this. Do you feel the power? This is wild. I don't know if I want to keep this in my house. It is could be cursed. Yeah. That's kind of my goal. I think that's what happened to my team. I'll tell you if you want to pass it on.
SPEAKER_01I'm not so certain Cody hasn't put a listening device in this book to get some inside intel on the magazines. It's true. We want to scan that thing.
SPEAKER_03There's it's it's it's an interesting read. Um when did this come out? I I don't know. So it came from it came from Grover Cleveland Baxter, who, if you've ever heard of the the study that plants can feel. Like he's the one who pioneered that study. That's true. It is. Which also I agree with you. Which also spun off Scientology. Like his research spun off into Scientology.
SPEAKER_02That's an annotated copy from McQuinney for a long time saying, I would go to church if there was some sort of church basically like this.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I know. I went to the channel.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so what we've been missing this whole time is Miles as a Scientologist. No, no, no, no. That's what I'm picking up. No. He's going clear. There's some I wish we would just look look deeper into some things, maybe. Save me, Tom Cruise. Well, thanks for this, Cody. This is great.
SPEAKER_03I mean, we we've we've mended our relationship a lot this year. I think so. Well, we're on the same side on a lot of things. I think we are.
SPEAKER_02We're seeing eye to eye. I'm I'm excited for next week when we have a full report on the Skype. Yeah, I'll have book report time. Reporting definitely needs to read.
SPEAKER_01I'll get you uh I'll get you a personal pan pizza if you read that book. Book it.
SPEAKER_03When did you get this? Um I don't know, a few months ago. We were cleaning out a bunch of stuff from we bought a company that Grover owned. What he goes by Cleve, sorry.
SPEAKER_02Oh my, this was in his personal collection. Yes, that is his personal book. With his personal annotations. Yeah, I okay, I'll read it, but I can't. Who's Grover Cleveland?
SPEAKER_03Grover Cleveland Baxter. Yeah, he's the guy who invented the the you know, the plants feel like he worked for the CIA. So that was his book? That was his, yes. He got it as a gift from I think the author. Is that what it says in the front? Yes. Oh wow. Okay. It's from his personal collection.
SPEAKER_02Wow. Cody works for the DC. I mean, I have chills right now. He's a basically a CIA contractor. Completely wrong. He's not at liberty to talk about it. Well, thanks. This is great. Yeah. I'll have Courtney read this to me and uh I think if your Google Lens can like. This is what he looks like. Yeah. I here's something I would like to see. I think there should be a series of audiobooks that's Courtney reading books out loud. Yeah. Um I think that would be nice. And she's the fastest reader I know. Right, so she can talk fast. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Like when we watch stuff or or he okay, so as Cody said, he was in the CIA and specialized in hypno and narco-interrogation, aka truth serums. Oh.
SPEAKER_03This hangs in my office. That is a painting of him.
SPEAKER_02Wow.
SPEAKER_03The truth is out there.
SPEAKER_02So you guys bought this company, and is he dead?
SPEAKER_03Uh yes, he is.
SPEAKER_02But so he's all of this in this realm.
SPEAKER_03And all of his shit was still there? Yeah. So he owned a polygraph school in Canada and we bought it. And so I have all sorts of stuff from him. But all of his shit was still like in his office? Oh god, he had so much stuff. So many books like that.
SPEAKER_01He never married, preferring the company of his Siamese cats.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Maybe we should get into the week seven picks. I was gonna say, you know what?
SPEAKER_02We talked about baseball for about 45 seconds. I will say, okay, we got into some weird stuff after the pod. We did ask Kyle, where do you Kyle, so like where do you get your news? And Kyle's response was or like we were like, do you watch like cable news or what? And he was like, no, I don't really. And we're like, so where do you get your news? Like Twitter or what do you do? No, usually just what people tell me. I'm just talking to people now. That's how that's word of mouth. I think that would also be a great podcast, is just people talk about what they're hearing. What are we hearing out there? What are you hearing out there? Well, the problem is we're all getting the same Twitter algorithm at this point. So all right, this week's picks. Uh first matchup. We can do mine and Kindles. Okay. Um, I know I never pick myself, but this is not a week to pick me. I mean, Jordan Mason probably doesn't play. Um, it looks like I'm gonna have to start 2-2 out well. I I would guess Marvin Harrison doesn't play with a concussion. Um I don't even know if I'm gonna have enough players to play right now. Like, I'm probably putting someone in my starting lineup that's not even on my team at this point. So I'm gonna pick Kendall.
SPEAKER_01Man, this is tough. I wasn't aware of the Marvin Harrison Jr. situation, to be honest. But I'm gonna go with what I wrote down, and I've got MAGO winning this matchup.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so Cody's here, and Cody can pick for himself, but he also has Kyle's picks to maintain the integrity of the season-long picks.
SPEAKER_03I'll show everyone the picks from Kyle. Kyle's picks, yep. Got it. Kyle picked Kendall in this matchup. In Cody picks. I pick Miles. Whoa!
SPEAKER_02Man, the love is in the air.
SPEAKER_03We're back.
SPEAKER_02Give me Kendall. Uh next matchup, Cromartie's kids at first is Jake from State Farm. Quincy, you need this win in the worst way.
SPEAKER_01So bad. Um say that every week.
SPEAKER_02Dak Prescott is out for which doesn't matter. I think it does. Um, Debo looks to be maybe a little bit banged up. Um, you would think Jacoby Myers, I mean, now that that Devontae Adams trade happened, Jacoby Myers is now a really playable guy every single week. Um, but I'm gonna go with you. Uh, you don't have any major buys or injuries, and you've deserved to win a lot of these games.
SPEAKER_01Thank you. I'm gonna pick myself in this matchup. The tough part is when you've got superstars like Cooper Cup and Aaron Jones who are coming back off injury and they're questionable. Are they gonna be full go? Are they gonna play 80% of the snaps? So I'm I'm a little pretzel-brained around if these guys are quote healthy, can you trust them? You probably have to play them. Probably. Um, but I think that could be a wrinkle for me. But yeah, I'm still gonna pick myself. I think I can win here. Do you think Cup and Jones play this week? Cup's trending in the right direction. Jones isn't looking as possible.
SPEAKER_02Is that this fucking bullshit speak where it's like he's trending in the right direction? It's like, well, yeah, anyone from any injury is trending in the right direction.
SPEAKER_01We need our own NFL insider. I just think we need a new source. None of them do their fucking job.
SPEAKER_02Give us give us actual information.
SPEAKER_01I'll tell you what I have found to be a little more insightful is like going to the local newspapers in the like for those teams. Oh, yeah. You're like a beat reporter. Yeah, you can you can get a little more intel. It's still kind of garbage. But it's better than just Schefter and Rappaport.
SPEAKER_02Absolutely. But you still get some of those beat guys on like Twitter and stuff, and even you look at the Colts, and like they're still talking about the same shit. They don't give you any more insight about stuff.
SPEAKER_03Anyway. Kyle had Quincy and um I think Jake's gonna make a big move and uh find a quarterback, so I'm gonna have to go with Jake.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Give me Quincy. Big data versus filling holes. Phil really, I mean, he needs a win. One and five. But I don't think he's gonna be able to get it done this week. Um Javante Williams just hasn't been really that good. Um he's spent a lot on Bubba Means. Bubba Means. Yeah. But I mean, who's the only wide receiver who's healthy right now for the Saints, but they're playing Denver, so so I'm gonna go with Cody.
SPEAKER_03I'm also picking Cody. Uh Kyle picked me as well. Um yeah, I'm gonna pick myself. Give me Cody!
SPEAKER_01It's a consent!
SPEAKER_02That's an extra special consensus quake. I don't get to say it's even better in person. I will let everyone know that the four three consensus quakes that we had last week. We're all idiots. Oh yeah. Next matchup, subpar versus this is the year 6.0. I have to look at this matchup overall. I mean, I could see. I don't know. The problem is Amari Cooper just got traded to Buffalo, so you would think like he's not gonna get a lot of runs.
SPEAKER_01I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Who knows? Um, I'm gonna go with Titty. I'm also gonna take Brayden.
SPEAKER_03Kyle took Brayden. I am gonna take Pete because I just don't believe Pete. Yeah. Starts at 2-5. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Gimme this is the year. Okay. Four for five. Next up, IUI Doc and Chasing TDs. Cameron needs this one badly. He's two and four. Um Owen is three and three. Uh uh Cameron looks no CD Lamb. It's true. And does James Cook play this week? And Lazard, you would think, takes a step back.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_02Man, am I gonna pick Owen in this thing? I'll go Owen.
SPEAKER_01Man, I'm picking Owen as well.
SPEAKER_03Uh Kyle went with Zach. I am also gonna go with Zach. What?
SPEAKER_02Gimme Cameron. Okay. Uh next up, SCLSU Mud Dogs versus Lace is out. Four and two versus three and three. Colt Komet is out, but that's really it. Um doesn't look like Scotty has very many folks out either, but I'm gonna go with SCLSU Mud Dogs. His team is uh just put up points all year.
SPEAKER_01So I'm I'm going against the grain on this one. Maxwell seems like the obvious pick. Uh I wrote down Scotty. I'm gonna stick with my pick, Scotty. When's the last time we had a running back win the NFL MVP award? Because Derek Henry should be in that conversation. Should I like was it was it Ladanian Tomlinson?
SPEAKER_02I don't know. Who else would it have been?
SPEAKER_01Did Christian McCaffrey maybe?
SPEAKER_02Maybe has he won it though? Um yeah, so I'm I'm going Scotty. The thing that sucks for Maxwell is he's got Michael Wilson, who's the second wide receiver there and for the Cardinals, but they have a Monday night 9 p.m. game. Why are there still two uh two Monday night games? Like again, for fantasy with all of these injuries, it sucks because it's like, is this guy gonna play or not? I need to know what's happening. Stop putting all the I understand having a Monday night game, but why are we why are we doing this? It has become extremely frustrating for fantasy football, how the NFL is just treating everything.
SPEAKER_03They don't care about fantasy football.
SPEAKER_01They should.
SPEAKER_03I know they should.
SPEAKER_01To answer the question, uh Adrian Peterson in 2012. Wow.
SPEAKER_03Long time.
SPEAKER_01It's been quarterbacks every other year.
SPEAKER_03Um Kyle is taking Scotty. Give me Scotty, so it's not as green as you thought.
SPEAKER_02Uh Maxwell.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_02Last matchup, Team Beamer versus Whiskey with an eye, Tango Foxtrot.
SPEAKER_01Um how long was it before we realized that whiskey was spelled wrong? I flagged it a few weeks ago, but it had been over a year.
SPEAKER_03It had been. I don't know how we all I don't I don't either.
SPEAKER_01What did they say?
SPEAKER_02It's like the Mandela effect when you just see something like that. It's probably because we just try not to pay attention too much to Kyle. Or we skipped the timeline. We probably could have. Actually, no, this is the timeline we're on because this is Kyle. For Beamer, I don't think he should be at 3-3. Devontae Adams first week with the Jets, but he's against Pittsburgh. Um, Mostert does get the Colts, so that probably is a pretty good matchup. But then Shakir, you would think, takes a step back with Amari Cooper there. So I'm gonna pick uh pick Kyle.
SPEAKER_01Again, I'm going against the grain. I think Team Beamer's gonna get this win, and I don't I don't have a great explanation why necessarily. I could throw out some players that I think might have good weeks, but I just think Kyle's got some bad luck on his side right now.
SPEAKER_02Um what's the bad luck?
SPEAKER_01Just being commissioner, just being a team. Just it's tough, you know, and he's trying really hard, but I just think this is Team Beamer's week.
SPEAKER_04Right.
SPEAKER_03Kyle took himself. And uh I am going to take Kyle as well. Corbin is only broke 90 once week two, so I gotta see it.
SPEAKER_02Gimme Corbin.
SPEAKER_01Okay. I see you. That is our week seven matchups.
SPEAKER_02Uh, do we want to talk about? I mean, a couple trades this week. It happened pretty I mean fairly early in the season. Like the trade deadline isn't for a couple more weeks. We usually don't see trades until close to the deadline, but Amari Cooper goes from the Browns to Buffalo, so you would think that helps out Pete a ton.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Um My understanding is that the domino effect occurred because the Bills, while they wanted Devontae Adams, and they couldn't afford taking his salary hit. So when they saw the Jets get him in division. Yes, they went to plan B, which was Amari Cooper.
SPEAKER_02What is Amari Cooper's contract like up at the end of the year or what?
SPEAKER_01I'm not sure what the situation it's apparently cheaper.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Um and then Devontae Adams goes back with Aaron Rodgers. Um the New York Packers. Yeah, but they're two and four. Fire their head coach. I don't know. I mean, Aaron Rodgers runs that organization, apparently. Yeah, but they traded him. What did what was the Cooper trade? What did the Bills have to give up for that? Because for the for the Jets, they gave up a what conditional fourth that could turn into a second, depending on what.
SPEAKER_01I think the Browns got a they sent they sent a sixth pick with Amari and got a third and a seventh.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_01So I thought I thought the the Browns got a better deal for Amari than the Raiders got for Devontae. Because Devontae's got to finish um first team or second team. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And then if he plays or starts in a what championship game or the AFC championship game or Super Bowl.
SPEAKER_01Those are tough conditions.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um I don't think that's the thing. But they were taking on all that Saturday.
SPEAKER_02Like they've been saying he has a hamstring, and then the first day he's able to play with the practice. Like, again, what the fuck are we doing here? Why can't anyone call it? It's gotta be policed better. Why can't anyone call a spade a spade and say Devontae Adams, yeah, he tweaked his hamstring a little bit. He's not playing because he's disgruntled with the Raiders. He's gonna be completely healthy as soon as he's traded.
SPEAKER_01I think also, and maybe I just don't understand how this process works, but the team doctors are the team doctors. They're not NFL doctors, they're not independent in that way outside of the neurological stuff. So that team doctor is going to do and report what the team wants. And if Devontae Adams says, well, you know, yeah, MRI looks clear, but I'm still kind of hurting. Yeah, the doctor's gonna say, Well, yeah, clearly you're not 100%. And then how's the NFL gonna dispute that?
SPEAKER_02I mean, the NFL just needs to police it better, where it's like, hey, if if it's a 50 plus percent chance of them not playing, they need to be doubtful. Here's here's how you list the conditions, right? And yeah.
SPEAKER_01I just think the NFL should pay all the doctors and not the teams.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I wish for fantasy purposes, like we could, I don't know how we would police this ourselves, but with our IR spots, like it would be nice if we could, if we know a guy is not playing, or even like let's say James Cook last week. Cameron didn't know, didn't start him. Can he just throw him in his IR, not knowing if he's playing or not, but say, hey, even if he is healthy, I'm not taking him out of my IR. You know what I mean? Because he couldn't put him in there all week until the game rolled around. And they actually declared him out, even though you knew he was probably out.
SPEAKER_03I mean, look, we are a reflection of the NFL as a fantasy league, so I thought I mean I've thought about, you know, and with the IR spot, you could make it once they go in, so if they get that designation, they go in, they can stay there until you pull them out. So you can decide when to pull them out. So for like, you know, for example, Jonathan Taylor could stay in my IR for the rest of the season if I wanted, even if he is playing. Yeah. Because once he goes in, once he's allowed to go in, I can keep him there.
SPEAKER_02Well, I think the main issue though is like the putting the guy in there. Like every single week after the waivers run, I've got these like questionable guys in my IR spots who I know aren't playing, but then I can't do anything with my roster until they're officially declared out, which usually isn't until like Saturday.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Which willn't in that case you you could leave them there. That's what I'm saying. Yeah, so yeah.
SPEAKER_01Maybe. I don't know. Or there's a or they're but there's how do we time frame? Do we have to like once they're on and they go questionable, you can't pull them off for you put them in there.
SPEAKER_02Like, but do you have to text Kyle that? Do you like to have to text him to hey, put this guy in my thing, let me Yeah, let's entrust Kyle with all that. Yes. It's just it it the NFL is super frustrating. Cody hasn't watched any games this week. Quincy and I literally last week scheduled AT time so we wouldn't have to watch the fucking NFL this week because it's just so frustrating.
SPEAKER_01It was good for the mental health.
SPEAKER_02It is. It was I'm telling you, the NFL is gonna become what the NBA is now in ten years or less.
SPEAKER_01But the podcast will survive.
unknownI don't know.
SPEAKER_02The pod. I think the pod will survive. But it might morph into different stuff. Wow, politics, mostly aliens, conspiracies. Yeah. Just what Miles is reading about that week. Like the sky. In Grover, Cleveland something. Grover, Cleveland, Baxter. Baxter. We're gonna learn more about this fellow. I can't wait to get the book report.
unknownWow.
SPEAKER_02You can tell how happy if you guys could see guys right now. He's just like looking longingly. I'm in awe of this book. Like, you know, this guy really, I mean, this is a well-worn book here. There are notes in centerfold. So this is like this was one of his favorite books, basically.
SPEAKER_03He really dives in on the sex piece. It's it's interesting. Okay. Grover really liked that part. He even highlighted it.
SPEAKER_02More of a PG 13 kind of uh his poor Siamese cats. Alright, so anything on everyone's mind this week before we wrap up?
SPEAKER_01Any waiver wire comments?
SPEAKER_02Um, I mean it was kind of a hodgepodge. Yeah, it was just a weird week. Um what did we have? Um uh Bub Bub Means went for 18 to Phil. He was the only one who um put money on him. Ray Davis went for 14, four people bit on him. Just pisses me off. I had him on my team, and then they're like, yeah, James Cook's go play. It's the same bullshit. Um Sean Tucker, I mean, he came out last week and had 35 points on only 40% of snaps. Does he take over that backfield for the the Bucks? Um Scott got him, so I mean, if he turns into something. Um Juwan Johnson, the tight end.
SPEAKER_01$10, no other bids.
SPEAKER_02That was interesting, but I guess it makes sense if they're not gonna have any wide receivers this week. Um Demario Douglas, solid, $10 to Owen. Um the backup, backup running back in San Francisco. What is that? Grendo um goes to IUI Doc for three bucks. That's pretty good value, I think, if Mason doesn't play. Um Corbin picks up Joe Flacco. Looks like he's gonna start him this week, maybe.
SPEAKER_01I don't I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I guess I think Richardson's playing. So he drops Aaron Rodgers.
SPEAKER_01He didn't spend any money for him, though.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but he drops Aaron Rodgers. I guess he could get him back. Um yeah, nothing else. Two Atwell goes to me. Owen gets uh Dernish Johnson the backup in Jacksonville, backup, backup. Nothing else big.
SPEAKER_03What's Jake gonna do? What's Jake doing for quarterback this week?
SPEAKER_01Maybe he's gonna make a trade.
SPEAKER_03I know. I mean Aaron Rodgers is out there on the waiver wire, so I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I think there's enough guys on the waiver wire. Like you can stream a Herbert or uh Aaron Rodgers, Stafford, Daniel Jones. Like that's why I thought it was so weird how many guys picked a second quarterback this year in the draft. Because like you can usually maybe at the end of the season, once a bunch of guys have gotten hurt, it sucks, but like you can usually find a guy. Yeah. Well, Cody, do you have any other big, you know, data points? Um any any knowledge to impart on us?
SPEAKER_03Um you know, I I I tried to feed AI some more of uh the data this week right before I came down, but I I ran out of time and I wasn't wasn't cooperating, so I don't have a whole lot for you. Um we talked about the the mean or the plan against the median, so that's that's the big thing I like to track.
SPEAKER_01I think there's going to be a special additional podcast dropping on the Spotify channel this week. Is that right?
SPEAKER_02Um yeah. Yeah, I'll drop that. Should we should I wait till like Sunday to drop it so everybody can listen to this pod?
SPEAKER_01I I think drop this this evening. Yeah. I would drop that like Friday afternoon. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_01Before the games begin, enough time to listen to it on the going into the weekend.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Are we gonna tell people about like what that one's about or just let them figure it out? You can let them figure it out. I mean, I think they'll figure it out. I don't know. Um well yeah. But the only other question I've got uh for Cody is you've still got a hundred dollars of fab sitting there. I do. I mean, you got any plan for that? Is it gonna make you some interesting? He's waiting for the big one. I yeah, the white whale.
SPEAKER_03You know, so who did you get? Who did you bid on that? Devontae Wicks, who hasn't done anything. Yeah, so I was gonna bid 69 just because that's what I like to bid. And for some reason, I changed it right before I put it in, and then you ended up winning it, which was worked out fine for me. But I don't know. I like to save it for bye weeks and and right before playoffs when when I'm looking to, you know, I really want someone, I really want to target someone. So I I typically hold mine until later in the season. I mean, uh we haven't seen any big trades.
SPEAKER_02Do we think we'll see? I mean, we've got what three weeks left to trade.
SPEAKER_01I think people are working their contacts aggressively. I just don't know anyone willing to make that big move yet. Okay. That I'm aware of.
SPEAKER_03I've had more people reach out to me this year than I have any other. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Interesting. I I I agree with that, but I'll tell you, I've also had more insulting offers than I ever had before either. Like people that thought it was a fair deal.
SPEAKER_02So there are a lot of sellers, but there are there a lot of buyers. I think that's a good way to put it. I think Brayton is always pretty active in the trade market, but he's got such a good deep team this year that like I don't see him making any other moves because he feels good where he's at.
SPEAKER_01I mean, he could be doing two for one deals to get more upside talent. But also people have to think about this is the way I view it too, sometimes is do I want to make that team more competitive with a top-end player? Yeah. Right?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, we'll see what happens. Um I do think you have some teams that like a Phil, maybe Phil still makes a trade. I could be completely wrong, but at one and five, like, does he really want to like maybe give up a guy that could be a keeper next year or make some huge move when it's like I don't know, the season doesn't look great right now. Still got some holes to fill. He still has some holes to fill.
SPEAKER_03But Cameron started out one and five before and made the playoffs. Historically, we've had teams that did fire sales before we had a lot of the restrictions on trading. And then those teams would go on winning streaks. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Wes was one of those but look at Owen and look at Kendall. Yeah, they have some of the weakest rosters when you just look at it, but they're both sitting at three and three right now. Yep. So it's weird. Anything else? Well, who would you rather be? Like you have a Quincy who I think has a pretty good team, but is at two and four. Or would you rather be be at three and three right now? I'd rather be Quincy in general, you know. I think he he usually wakes up in a pretty perky mood every day. Um no, I think I would rather be Quincy at two and four than a three and three team. It's it takes one week to switch.
SPEAKER_01Depending on who the three and three team is, yeah.
SPEAKER_02It takes one week. Now, if you were to say, would you rather be Quin me or Quincy in terms of fantasy football right now? I I don't I don't know. My team looks really weak and really hurt, but I got two more wins.
SPEAKER_03So it's like Yeah, I I think I would take the two more wins. I would rather have a weaker team with two extra wins.
SPEAKER_02Because again, the magic number is seven. Yep. So that's it.
SPEAKER_01I mean seven for sure, but six and eight got in last year, right? Yep.
SPEAKER_02So all right. Anything else that you guys want to go over today?
SPEAKER_01I think that's it, producer Tim. Wow, okay. Well, uh to play us out.
SPEAKER_02Do it live. Bye, everybody.
