Welcome, welcome, welcome. It is the CCPL Week Nine podcast. We are at the Branch View Studios, producer Tim, Commissioner Kyle, Mouthpiece Miles, and just a guy named Quincy.
SPEAKER_02He's here's what just I we can't even talk today. I think that if we could only do this live, you guys would see that Quincy has obviously come in his uh American Psycho Halloween copy. Yeah, we're also getting started 30 minutes late because Quincy big timed us. Right. I think he was comparing business cards with somebody.
SPEAKER_01Is that bone? I came directly from a fundraiser of our future governor Mike Braun and Carmel at Beautiful Three Up. I don't know if you guys have been to Oh, we've been there together actually. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Love that rooftop bar.
SPEAKER_02Oh.
SPEAKER_01Right there on right there in downtown Carmel.
SPEAKER_02They do a nice trade. They do a nice job.
SPEAKER_01They do. I love that place. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So my apologies for being late, guys. Well, thanks for thanks for apologizing. You know, the the good news is none of us have anything else to do. No.
SPEAKER_01Oh, look, it's 8 30 on a Wednesday night. I so Kisha was You're not watching the Tigers playing the World Series.
SPEAKER_03Kisha was putting the kids. Hopefully she doesn't listen to this because she's like putting the kids to bed, right? And like usually Quincy's are 7 30. So I was like, okay, you know, said bye to the kids and everything. Then I'm just sending garage and beer. I could hear the kids going back and forth upstairs, and I'm like, I probably should come up and help, but uh which by the way, everyone, speaking of attire, Kyle's just rocking a mustache.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Looks good.
SPEAKER_01I kind of like it.
SPEAKER_03Are you were you trying to do this or what? Well, yeah, it's kind of in preparation for mustache, right? It's a new bit. Well, for uh for Friday. Okay concert. Okay. What does that have? What does that have to do with Taylor Swift? Well, Kish's kind of like she's she's got a little bit of like a Taylor type outfit. And so then I thought, well, I want to look at it. Okay, I'm gonna go like Kelsey a little bit. Okay. So I got I got some.
SPEAKER_01Well let's uh let's jump into the week results. Some people here in the room are excited to talk about those results. Maybe only one.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, only one, really. Not this guy.
SPEAKER_01Um so week eight, couple of really good games. Let's start with um Big Data, who's now six and two, beats right to bear arms 106 to 84. He's been making some moves.
SPEAKER_02And that is a hot team right now.
SPEAKER_01So I want everyone who's listening to know I spent substantial time this afternoon putting notes together, being prepared for the podcast this evening. It's because you care more. I do care more. Yeah, I care so much. Um, and we maybe we'll talk here a little bit later about maybe why I care more now. Um, but first and foremost, Kendall was back and forth going into this matchup on whether to start Puka Nakua. And he chose not to do that. Now it didn't affect the all the outcome of this matchup. And you can look at his bench, regardless of what he would have done, he couldn't have reached the difference of 22 and a half points or so. Yeah. So you but again, it's Puka Nakua. I feel like you still have to start him.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. I mean, he texted us beforehand, and we were all in agreement. Like, I don't know, can you trust what has Keenan Allen done this season? That's true. I didn't know what his alternative was gonna be. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Did he ever say if if he put in Puka, would he have played Stafford?
SPEAKER_01He he didn't he didn't say again, it it wouldn't have mattered, so I'm not like hanging this over him. Um, but that was like one point that I wanted to emphasize was that like he was back and forth on Puka.
SPEAKER_02He didn't do it. Yep. Well, and he drops to three and five, moves Cody to six and two. I mean, Cody is in a driver's seat. I mean, he's he's gonna make the playoffs.
SPEAKER_01I mean, the thing about Cody that I wanted to point out is the strength and depth he has at running back right now. Yeah, like Bucky Irving's playing well, scored it. He actually didn't score a touchdown. I thought that he did. Uh I guess Rashad White did. Uh, but Tony Pollard's playing well. Uhpears been has been inactive, I think, right? Yeah. Um, and then obviously a cane has kind of resurged again and to his back now. Yes, I mean he has this dearth. Yeah. Uh for those that don't know what dearth means, it's it like is it like dearth? Not really, Miles, actually. Oh he has all these running backs, it's incredible. Does that mean I have dearth? No, you don't have dearth. Actually, you have some receiver dearth. Okay. But seriously, the thing about Cody is like what's interesting to me is he the past maybe a couple years, he just sits tight. He's not really making moves anymore. Yeah. And he he really could parlay some of this running back depth into some strength at receiver.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but I think he's gonna be fine at receiver now because you've got two of coming back, so you would think Waddle is gonna be very playable. And then um Josh Downs, if Flacco is the starting quarterback for the rest of the season, Josh Downs is a is definitely a playable fantasy guy every single week. And then I think the biggest one last week was DeAndre Hopkins getting traded to the Chiefs.
SPEAKER_01The thing is, you know, and the way our roster requirement structure is, you have to play two receivers. It's not one running back requirement, it's two receiver requirement. And so there's more volatility in that role. So when you've got five strong running backs, it's not as valuable as having five strong receivers.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but I mean he's got you got by weeks to think about, and then injuries this year. I mean This could all change in one week. Sure. Yeah. You have one of these main guys go down, and then it's like, oh, okay, I got somebody to slot in there. But I think he he looks really, really good.
SPEAKER_01He does, and and it'll be reflected in probably the commissioner, the sorry, I just said the commissioner's power ranking. He's like, whoa, whoa, whoa. So let's move on to your matchup. Yep. And sorry that we got to bring it up so early, but uh 91 points for you. You are now five and three, still a strong position, like five wins at this point in the season. Yeah, that's a playoff team. Um, a big win for Jake. Yeah, Jake is four and four. I mean, I call this in some way stealing a victory.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Uh he puts up 105 points, really gets it done on um was that Monday night football? No, Sunday night football.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean he was gonna get it as soon as Jordan Mason went out.
SPEAKER_01Um Well, I don't know. I mean, look, Brock Purdy put up 26 points.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but he also had Debo Samuel in that game. So he had Purdy and Samuel. We were about neck and neck, and he had Purdy and Samuel, Samuel, and then I had Jordan Mason who goes out and only scores 1.8 points.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So I knew at that point, like it was.
SPEAKER_01So it finishes as a 14-point spread, but I mean, how often is Brock Purdy putting up 26 points? I mean, that's his highest score of the year.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I mean, the big thing that killed me was Kyle Pitts had 23.
SPEAKER_03Like when your opponent tight end has over 20 points, like well, they put up their top, their, their, their top week against you that they've had so far.
SPEAKER_02But what's funny about that Kyle Pitts thing is when you reviewed that play, there was a second touchdown he had. He actually dropped the ball before he went into the end zone. So it should have been How do you know that? I w I saw highlights. I haven't I've legitimately not watched a single football game in two weeks.
SPEAKER_01So what do you do as your like your recap method of intelligence? Twitter. Okay. Yeah. So it didn't matter.
SPEAKER_02It would have been an eight-point swing right there.
SPEAKER_01So it again, it didn't matter. Yeah, but Baker had a great game.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_0126 points. This has all been clarified over the past 24 hours.
SPEAKER_03Obviously, you have to start Baker now because you've stuck with him, you you'd been winning with Baker. What made you um all of a sudden?
SPEAKER_02Richardson, his like only some of his only good games have been against Houston, and Baker was out without all of his wide receivers. But he still passes for 330 yards and three touchdowns. So is there anything that you wanted to, and I'm gonna um we're going to suspend the 90 second rule. Um, I see you started Anthony Richardson. Yeah. Is there anything that you want to say about Anthony Richardson? Surely you have things to say him on your team and and and kind of today farewell. Yeah. Um, well, he was my flex keeper. Um didn't what that didn't work out at all. I the Colts as an organization are just absolutely rudderless. They have zero fucking direction. It's feckless leadership. It's absolutely it's it's awful. I mean, most people who know me know I've like ragged on Ballard for I was like the original, hey, Ballard fucking sucks. And now everyone's coming around to it.
SPEAKER_01Would you take Ryan Grigson over Chris Ballard?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_02Really? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely. I don't know about that. No, at least um You and Dan Dockage.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So it's just been it it they have, and if you saw the comments come out today, Richardson was, they were like, oh, what was the conversation? Blah, blah, blah. And he was like, he just told me Joe was now the starter. Not, hey, we want you to take a step back. We want you to do this. Don't you think it's no fucking plan. And I've told Quincy this. The motherfucker Steichen lives in my future narrative. And he parks his goddamn car on the street every fucking night. Every goddamn night. He's on the main drag and he parks his street, his fucking car there instead of the street.
SPEAKER_01She's in a hurry to run inside and watch film. In his driveway. That's Tim's yawning right now.
SPEAKER_02This is exactly so. It just tells me everything I need to know about him.
SPEAKER_01I I don't want to get too far ahead of myself, but based off whether he's so Jake gets a victory. He's four and four. And Jake's team, all of a sudden, for me, as I look at this, is looking pretty strong for one reason. Calvin Ridley, receiver one potentially in Tennessee. And look, it's not a great offense.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But Ridley, he doesn't play Ridley. Yeah, with Hopkins moving on. And Ridley puts up 17 and a half with a with a lost fumble, so 19 and a half essentially. I mean Kyle Pitts has had a really good year.
SPEAKER_02James Connor has had a good year. Um, I mean, we forget, like, he he started out three and oh. It will be interesting to see.
SPEAKER_03And then he just lost four and a row. It will be interesting to see what happens when Brooks comes back or you know, not comes back and starts. Like anything.
SPEAKER_01You've got Chris Godwin has died. Mike Evans is hurt and out for the next couple weeks, probably. And he's got Kate Otten sitting over there who's getting tons of targets from Baseball.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but that's gonna be hard because like how many times are you running two tight end sets like in your flex? Rarely. Because you don't trust it. You don't trust the position. Yeah, you can't do that. So it's gonna actually maybe become a lot of things.
SPEAKER_01Shuba Hubbard is a trade candidate. He could end up in a better spot, and he's played really well over the past five weeks.
SPEAKER_02The other thing that's that Jake has going for him is he has the um like fifth most points on the season, sixth most points on the season. Yeah. So, you know, if it comes down to him and somebody else, like he's got good points for on the season.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he's definitely so. Let's let's keep moving on. Subpar loses to IUI Doc. This was a blowout. IUI Doc high point scorer on the week, 133 to 75. Yeah. Uh Cameron's now four and four.
SPEAKER_02He needed the this is exercising demons this week, I think.
SPEAKER_01And he he he trusts Jaden Daniels, again, producer Tim's yawning. Um Jaden Daniels with which I'm sure we've all have seen, this incredible Hail Mary victory. Incredible. How about Stevenson taunting fans as the play is going on?
SPEAKER_02It would have been better if he kept taunting fans. Yeah. Like if he would have instead, if he would have continued haunting taunting fans, he would no longer be haunting the Chicago Bears.
SPEAKER_01Well, and what's hilarious is after the fact, I mean, they said, I think Iberflu said this, his job was to body up Noah Brown. Yeah. So he was just not focused. He just cut he forgot what his job was. He tipped the ball up for Noah to catch it. Yeah. Like not only was he distracted and unaware of the play situation, he caused, I mean, essentially he caused the touchdown. After the tip, he could have just tackled Brown.
SPEAKER_02Well, no, he was in the end zone. He just came flying in there and tipped the ball. It was just it was just stupid. But again, uh, the Bears have Iberflus as a coach. Like, Iberfluss wasn't even that good of a defensive coordinator. Yeah. So it doesn't make any sense. Big this is why the NFL fucking sucks. Big games.
SPEAKER_01Terrible product. CeeDee Lamb, I think high receiver score of the week, puts up 33 points. James Cook, 26. Um, he does this all with Brees Hall not doing all that much. Nine and a half, sure, that's fine.
SPEAKER_03Um I mean, anytime you get 60 points out of two players, yeah, CD's gonna win. CeeDee and Cook, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Amari Cooper does nothing for Pete. Now, I don't know if anyone watched the Monday Night Football game. George Pickens had basically two touchdowns called back. One, he didn't get his second foot down, which was really bizarre because it That was a very unusual play.
SPEAKER_02You could watch that that replay 20 times and you're like, yeah, he his feet touched touch the like he lifted just lifted his leg.
SPEAKER_01Right. So he had one foot touch twice, which begs the question: should that count? No. You put one foot touches up and down again.
SPEAKER_03Because then how do you like like yeah? Because I mean, you're dragging it and it bumps up and down, and then it's like, okay, like you touch it, and no.
SPEAKER_01It looked like a catch to me. Absolutely. Uh so Amari Cooper doesn't do anything in his second week in Buffalo. Yeah, um, not even a full point.
SPEAKER_02I mean, Pickens is with Russell Wilson at quarterback, Pickens his prospects are much, much better.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I mean, um, no one throws the D ball better than uh Russell Wilson and RIP and they're slightly saying that McCaffrey might be back after the bye. It seems that way, as long as there's no setback.
SPEAKER_02You know, so if he gets McCaffrey back, he's managed to get some wins and Pickens is coming on. You would assume Amari Cooper comes on for the Bills. So then he's got B.
SPEAKER_01John and McCaffrey, and then he's got I think what we've learned about Josh Allen though, Josh Allen has no specific loyalty to any receiver.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So does this mean more for Shakir and Keon Coleman potentially shot on Michigan State?
SPEAKER_02It could probably just depend on game. I think Diggs was his like primary target just because Diggs is like kind of a loudmouth.
SPEAKER_03But even last year you really saw it kind of get from game to game get distributed. One game you would see Shakir go off, one game you'd see Gabe Davis go off, one time you'd see. That's right.
SPEAKER_01We've been convinced for three seasons essentially that Dalton Kincaid was going to have his breakout year and he just never has. Oh, he had a touchdown this week.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but he's not been good this year.
SPEAKER_01So next matchup, SCLSU Mud Dogs, another victory. He's six and two. He has texted me the same phrase like four times in the past 48 hours. I have to keep my throat. I'm sorry, I have to keep my foot on the throat of the league.
SPEAKER_02Wow. So six and two, he wins 105 to 95 over fillin' holes and moves to one and seven.
SPEAKER_01And Ramondre Stevenson, great, 22 points. Tyreek, a little bit of an uptick, but uh moving from Snoop back to Tua who's back in the game. Only 10 points, but still an uptick for Tyreek, it seems like. The Malik neighbors, for those again who watched the Monday night football game, had some opportunities, couldn't make the production uh kind of move forward. Uh some of the volume was there, and it's just it it didn't necessarily I mean 13 targets is a lot of targets.
SPEAKER_02Well, Ladd McConkey, 29 points on his bench.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and and Kirk Cousins, 28 points on his bench. So that's those were in my surprises. Those were my notes here. So Sam Darnold has been nearly MVP caliber quarterback. I mean, he's probably now to be fair, the NFL has changed the guidelines on on comeback player of the year. So it's supposed to be to overcome adversity. So he won't get it.
SPEAKER_02The Damar Hamlin comeback player of the year.
SPEAKER_01Essentially, yes. But in all reality, Sam Darnold has been the comeback player of the year based on his experience in New York and now in Minnesota. But Kirk Cousins has been bawling. Um for for your for your friends in Atlanta who understand, Kirk Cousins has been swag surfing. Shot up Michigan State. I think that they I think they like that.
SPEAKER_03Well, I think in that situation, it's more, it's it's not even so much like Darnold, you're gonna get pretty steady production. Yes, you have risk with cousins, maybe not, but the problem is with cousins, and that's where you maybe consider a different I probably would have considered playing it differently, is going against Maxwell, you know you're gonna have to do uh the most you can, so you go with the upside.
SPEAKER_01You have to seed the floor for the upside. I think that's exactly right, Kyle. And what's interesting too is based on conversations I've had with Phil, he very much values Ladd McConkey like tremendously.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So how do you how do you leave him on your bench when Quentin Johnson Johnston didn't play, I don't think.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I mean he he instead he plays Brian Robinson and Javante Williams. I don't know. And means. Right? No, he didn't play means as well.
SPEAKER_01Sorry, I'm still looking at the bench.
SPEAKER_02Um but on Maxwell's side, I mean, good for him because this week he was without Mike Evans. Shahid went down a couple weeks ago and he's he was still able to put it put it together. He traded for Jacoby Myers, so he traded Purdy to Jake straight up for Jacoby Myers. Jacoby has 14 points this week, but now that Devontae Adams is gone, Jacoby becomes that with a wide receiver one there.
SPEAKER_03So we got 14 points from his kicker. That's a big deal.
SPEAKER_02That is a big deal. Anyways. Um Jordan Love is out though. Is he gonna play this week? He didn't practice today. Who backs him up? Maxwell has uh uh Willis.
SPEAKER_01So he's decided to basically play musical chairs at quarterback this year. I mean, from pre basically from preseason to today.
SPEAKER_02He's taken big swings. Like he just made a trade for another quarterback, didn't he? Yeah.
SPEAKER_0140 bucks for Bo Nicks, which I think that is reactionary to one week of Bo Nicks.
SPEAKER_02He was reactionary as soon as Love went down the first time, traded for Purdy.
SPEAKER_01So next matchup pulls the trigger quick. This is the year uh 6.0, five and three wins the close matchup. The closest matchup.
SPEAKER_02Of course, Corbin loses the first week he scored over 100 points.
SPEAKER_01So 111 to 109, and I thought there was a chance of life for Corbin in this matchup. He gets a touchdown out of his defense.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And things were tightening up. There's no doubt about it. Um, obviously doesn't win. Mahomes with 18 points, Josh Allen 19 points. You expect maybe a little bit more, but not upset with it. Kareem Hunt has been really strong over the past few weeks.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And like we said with with Braden, like he's he's he's so deep at this point. Um what helped last week was um T. Higgins was was hurt. Um so he kind of knew a little bit more who to play there. But David Montgomery has 14 points for him. Drake London didn't have a great game, but yeah, Kareem Hunt's been good. Um Stefan Diggs for him now, though, is gone for the season. Yeah, all right. So it's good that he's deep. Um he'll be able to figure that out. George Kittle. I don't think we've talked enough about George Kittle this year. He's the tight end one.
SPEAKER_01It was like official tight end week, right?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, tight end one on the season. Um he also pulled his MAGA hat out after the game. He did. That's great. But George Kittle did? Yeah, yeah. I didn't see that.
SPEAKER_01I saw popped into a post-game interview with his white and gold MAGA hat on. 22 points.
SPEAKER_03Wait, no, he did. Wasn't he standing beside his own? Sorry, I'm sorry, Nick Bosa.
SPEAKER_01It was Nick Bosa Nick Bosa. I was like, I don't remember. You know, you confuse these white players all the time.
SPEAKER_02They all look the same. They're buddies. Um, on Corbin's side, uh what was it? Mostert it is crazy to me how the Dolphins go from being this is just no one playable in fantasy to Tua comes back. Mostert has 15 and a half points.
SPEAKER_01Like it just shows how much difference they used him aggressively in the red zone. Yeah, I mean, there was a lot of value there and upside. So next matchup. Yeah, so one final thought. Team Beamers five and three, still probably a playoff team, but again, probably the team you want to play.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So next matchup, lace is out, uh, loses to Chase and TDs, 116 to 100. Uh Scotty's three and five, Chase and TDs is back to 500 at 4-4. We had a lot of consequential matchups this week of these three and five teams or kind of I'm sorry, three and four teams trying to get back to 500 and stay in the playoffs.
SPEAKER_02Tyrone Tracy, 22 points, even though Singletary was playing.
SPEAKER_01And so this is what's really fascinating. Tracy goes out of the game, questionable to return, going into half. They didn't really disclose what the what the medical issue was. He comes back, rips off a big gain, scores a touchdown, and now today he's in concussion protocol.
SPEAKER_03No, no, no, no. It was after that.
SPEAKER_01What do you mean?
SPEAKER_03No. It he went into concussion. That was that was after he'd already ripped off the the it was not the injury that happened was after he'd already hit off hit that touchdown.
SPEAKER_01Are you saying it was different injuries? Because he had an injury before the first half. It was different.
SPEAKER_03I watched that replay because he got what happened was he was running and he got like slammed down and the back of his head hit and immediately like one of the Steelers uh linebackers was like, hey, like you gotta get him out. Like before he'd even like started to really get up. And then they took one. And it was towards it was towards the end. That's fortunate. Yeah, so it was not it it was not the same thing.
SPEAKER_02He was on Purdue for two seasons and what maybe had 300 yards rushing all year. Now he's a starting running back in the year.
SPEAKER_01The difference in this for this matchup is really this Chris Godwin injury is very, very hurtful for Scotty.
SPEAKER_02Scotty doesn't have a solution at the end.
SPEAKER_03There's nothing worse than when you have a player that puts up 35 points and you still lose that win.
SPEAKER_01I mean, he had to play Jalen Tolbert.
SPEAKER_02I mean he he started him and his wide receivers were Addison, Tolbert, and JSN.
SPEAKER_01And now Addison is putting up on his his Instagram basically that he wants to be traded. So there's there's challenges now in Minnesota with receiver two.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So he's a three and five, not looking good. No, not good for Scotty. So I think we've got uh one more matchup, uh, which is Commissioner Kyle and yours truly. Just a guy.
SPEAKER_02There's a lot riding on this one.
SPEAKER_01There was.
SPEAKER_03So big bet this week. For the record. So I was the one that proposed that. I said, should we should we do something? That was not the first offer on the table. First offer on the table was um I said that the loser had to babysit for the other person. Forget that. You've got two kids. You got one. It's like double or nothing. Yeah, you should get like points for that. Yeah. He's like, no, I do not want to do that.
SPEAKER_01So we settled on, and again, we all respect the process of democracy within the CCPL and what's outlined in our constitution.
SPEAKER_02It sounds like you're trying to pull kind of a Joe Biden Kamala primary where it's just sort of predetermined. So are you telling me, Kyle, that you are withdrawing your name from being commissioner for next season?
SPEAKER_01I'm just endorsing You're not withdrawing, but you're endorsing someone else. Depends on what your defense is.
SPEAKER_02He still has to be voted in. I understand he still has to be voted in against other people, but I figured you would withdraw your name and throw your support behind it. I never said that. I just said I was gonna endorse. Oh wow.
SPEAKER_01This is the new reason. This is there's a little intrigue going on here. Look, I'll just for all the people listening right now. Do you want a league where there's no keg at the draft?
SPEAKER_02I I don't want to live in a world where that happens.
SPEAKER_01That's right.
SPEAKER_03Oh Jesus, that's that's really what it is?
SPEAKER_01Do you want to wait until you get a published updated constitution in week eight? That was bad. That's real rich. I think Commissioner Kyle's done an incredible job.
SPEAKER_03For the record, for the record, I never I said expect mediocrity, but I would be fair. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And he he agreed to be the commissioner when the league needed him most. Quincy back, you know, pulled out last year, which he's been known to do. Kyle Phil did you? I have.
SPEAKER_01Kyle has um he's been an incredible interim commissioner.
SPEAKER_02So what made you want the want the spot back, Quincy?
SPEAKER_01You know that is if the league allows it. Sure. You step away from something for a little while and you realize how much they need you.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01It's not even about me.
SPEAKER_02Jesus Christ.
SPEAKER_03I mean, I don't know if I'm gonna want to ride with him anymore.
SPEAKER_02It's not about you.
SPEAKER_03The last time the last you know, I went to the effort and I I had a special guest here last time and then he talked shit when I wasn't there. You're still you're still allowed to be on the podcast.
SPEAKER_01Kyle, I think you do um What the hell? You do the stuff that people find fun well.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_01But when it comes down to leading in tough times, I just think people here.
SPEAKER_03I can tell you the you know what? I can tell you the exact moment that Quincy was like, I need to take this back. And I will tell you right now, it was during the meeting this year.
SPEAKER_02Meeting?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. It was during it was during the rules meeting. Okay. I could just tell on his face. He's like, fuck, I need to take this back. Because I have not done FFA uh Robert's rules. Robert's rules. I've not done the meeting in so long. And he's sitting there like, could that fucker just pick up the fucking book and learn how to run a meeting properly?
SPEAKER_02Here's the deal. If Quincy wouldn't have bowed out last year as commissioner, he would have still been commissioner to this day. So now that he wants it back.
SPEAKER_03No, no. Oh, you you're saying if if he had not bowed out. Oh, I see what you said.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, like because you're saying that like if you remember, we were in a little bit of turmoil last year. We didn't know who was gonna be able to step up, and you've you've stepped up and for the credit.
SPEAKER_01I'm very look, Kyle, I am very grateful that you stepped in.
SPEAKER_02I have no complaints about your reign is don't worry, Kyle. You're likable enough. Thank you, Miles. And you can still be on the podcast.
SPEAKER_03Okay, now it feels like it's like uh we kind of feel guilty and like, you know, we know how important this is to you.
SPEAKER_01So I don't think anyone wants to use the word insurrection. Alright, so just real quickly, I win 109 to 100. Monday night football started to sweat a little bit. Najee Harris had a nice first quarter, slowed down a little bit. But again, um, I get Cooper Cup back. I was back and forth on Zay Flowers or Romeo Dobbs. I talked to a lot of people in the league about it. Um but it was close. Uh Olave had a a good game. You stacked up a touchdown with with Tank Dell and CJ Stroud, but really the difference in all this was CJ Stroud not performing. I mean, 12 points for who should be at a top QB, and just really it's kind of been a middle in year.
SPEAKER_03He's playing like a 15th round keeper. Yeah. I mean, that's that's what it is. Bo Nicks plays better than him.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So that puts me at four and four, puts you at three and five. I think this was a very this matchup was a swing matchup for the for the season. Certainly you've still got a chance to make the playoffs. It's just it kind of it's a bit it's a big step back.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah, how are you feeling overall, Kyle? Because with your points on the season, you're at you're like 11 right now.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I mean, I've had some bad weeks, but like I still don't like I don't know. I I Stroud is my biggest concern. Really the rest of the roster is not that bad, and that's why I spent some money to go get to uh Yeah, he's QB 15 on the season and he he has played every game. Yeah, so it's just it's just so that's what kinda hurts it, but obviously, like I'm obviously feeling a lot better about Tank Dell after Stan uh Diggs went down. True. So that's basically like repeat of last year. So maybe some different scheming happens. Obviously, since Joe Mixon came in, this offense has now turned much more run heavy. And so that's part of the problem too. So like I don't know. But other than that, like I'm still I'm still deep. I still just, you know, you just gotta keep rolling with it. You know, it's not a hole that you can't dig yourself in. So you're not in panic mode yet? Not really. I mean, you just I I can't.
SPEAKER_02It seems like there's so many teams that are just sort of like in the middle. Yeah. No one uh no one maybe other than Phil. Sorry, Phil.
SPEAKER_01I do believe we are still two weeks away from any clarification of really who the playoff teams are, outside of a couple of six and two, five and three types of team. There's we are we're to your point, Tim, we're we're very jumbled up. Um those are the week eight matchups. Do we want to jump into some power rankings? Let's do it. Let's soon go. Time will tell. I trust the league. I just want to pull up real quick. I want to look at last week's as a reference point. Alright, so no surprise to anyone. Still in the bottom cellar of the C C PL. Fill in holes at 14. RP Phil. Um a pretty substantial drop for this team. But again, this losing streak, the slide continues.
SPEAKER_02So Beamer went from champion to last last season. First to worst. Phil goes from he made two championship games in a row to I mean, unless he makes a big push, it looks like he's the cleaning ditches.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So at 13 this week, a little bit of a slide from 9 to 13. Is the commissioner? I mean, there's an argument to make he could be 12. I'm telling you.
SPEAKER_03Boy, he just keeps punishing me. No, no, no, no, look. Look, what have I done to you?
SPEAKER_01I'm telling you, there's no way you could be higher than 12. I could argue that you should be 12. But based on your your slide of consecutive losses.
SPEAKER_03I I understand that, but but I still think just looking at roster and everything, I would think I'd still be ahead of Kendall a little bit.
SPEAKER_01So that was the that's the debate. And so leading into it, number 12 is Kendall. Kindle was 11 last week, he's at 12 this week. You certainly could be 12, and Kendall could be 13, but um because of the consecutive losses, you're at 13 at 12, Kendall. At 11, moving down one spot is Corbin. Corbin's at 11.
SPEAKER_02Wow. Five and three. Five and three at eleven.
SPEAKER_01But Miles, answer this question for me. Would you be afraid to play Corbin this week?
SPEAKER_02Um, I'm not gonna say that. Just no. Well, I'll what I'll what I will say is he has.
SPEAKER_01Would you rather play Scotty or Corbin this week? It's kind of six of one, half dozen. No, it's not.
SPEAKER_02Honestly, maybe Scotty, because he he has no wide receivers, really. No. So Corbin's at 11. But I see what you're saying because he only has he has less than 700 points four on the season, which is I think lowest or second lowest.
SPEAKER_01At 10 this week, uh, moving up two spots is subpar, Pete Crow. Pete's at 10. Okay. At nine, moving up four spots, Zach Owen. Wow. So Zach goes from 13 to 9. He's up 4-14, gets a gets a nice victory. At 8, dropping one spot from 7 to 8, is Scotty Allen. Scotty's just right there in the middle. And I think this one of all of them is maybe a little more controversial just because I've got a higher opinion of Scotty's team than I think what people around this table probably do. I think that Godwin injury. Yeah, I agree. The Godwin injury is detrimental to Scotty. So he moves down from seven to eight. At seven, moving up one spot is Jake Adams. Jake's team, again, like, this is a scrappy. Uh, to quote uh future Governor Braun, hard Scrabble. It's a hard scrabble team.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Jake's at seven. Third highest point. Yeah. I mean, uh frankly, Jake could be maybe five on the board. I just we're sitting at seven for now. At six, dropping three spots is MAGA. Yeah. You think that's probably where you want to be is six instead of where I want to be. No, no, no. Sorry, not where you want to be. You think it's where you deserve to be. Okay.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, no change at five is uh Quincy. Comaris Kids. Four and four. At five, yeah, four and four. Really, like, I've been down on my own team. Kyle and I were talking about this on the driveover. Get the second most points on the year. I know, I know. Um I'm coming around on my team.
SPEAKER_04Good.
SPEAKER_01Uh Cooper Cup's back. At four, moving up two spots is IUI Doc. Cameron's he's rolling. Yeah. He's rolling. Jaden Daniels is still healthy. We had question marks last week whether he's still gonna play, because the ribs. Cameron's at four. At three, moving up one spot is big data.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01What is he, six and two, right? Yeah. Um hard to ignore this team right now. His points four on the season aren't at the tippy top, but but yeah, he's got the record. And at one and two, no change. Braden is still at two, and SCLC Mud Dogs at one. He has a quite the streak at the top of the power rankings. Yeah. And I hate it. Yep. He is just becoming cockier by the. You never have to say something nice about Maxwell anymore.
SPEAKER_02I know. I mean, good for him though. So that's the that's the deal with these teams is so Braden is Braden never lacks any confidence in this league. Maxwell is rarely shows humility. And they're some of the best teams.
SPEAKER_01These two little pricks. Just running roughshod on the CCPL right now. Yeah. Honestly, I'll tell.
SPEAKER_03I think most of the the only thing I I think Corbin's getting a little bit of a bad rap. Like, it's certain you can't, like, my only to be a-first week he scored a hundred points. No, no, I get that. But I'm just saying, in the end, wins are wins. It doesn't matter how many. It doesn't matter if if you win by only scoring.
SPEAKER_01But we're talking about power rankings. Like, who do you want to play right now? I understand that. And I'm telling you, we've seen teams rack up wins that are incredibly weak.
SPEAKER_03I just think I I could put a pretty good argument that I still think Pete is behind Corbin.
SPEAKER_00Any real racer. It don't matter by an inch or a mile. Winnings winning.
SPEAKER_01Producer Tim is really strong on those ones and twos. He just hit those buttons right. What I would say though is the thing that um makes me a little fearful of Corbin's team is we get we get into the playoffs. Patrick Mahomes typically gets better and stronger as the year goes on. He turns it on.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And so But but that doesn't mean he's going to be an exceptional fantasy quarterback. He's going to win a lot of games, but he's not going to score a lot of fantasy points. Is he? Maybe. But here's the thing.
SPEAKER_01Mahomes has thrown more interceptions than touchdowns so far this year. And that ha I mean, it doesn't have to, but I think that that reverses course at some point over the next few weeks. And so Mahomes as a fantasy quarterback probably improves. So those are the power rankings going into week nine. Um, not a commissioner at this time, but those those are just the power rankings.
SPEAKER_03But endorsed by the current commissioners.
SPEAKER_01Thank you for your endorsement.
SPEAKER_02Who also still wants to be commissioner? This is a cluster.
SPEAKER_03This is formally endorse. We might have a little bit of a crisis.
SPEAKER_02Commissioners in disarray. Clip that. Wait, what are we clipping?
SPEAKER_03I, Commissioner Kyle, formally endorse Quincy Cunningham for the 2025 commissionership. Boom.
SPEAKER_02But you're also not withdrawing your name.
SPEAKER_03I didn't know that.
SPEAKER_02So this would be like a Sherman and uh uh decline.
SPEAKER_03Why do you think I made sure to get the the constitution updated was so that everyone had it to remind them that he still has to be voted in?
SPEAKER_01The Cunningham campaign team will be putting a whip team together to ensure that the votes exist uh if we if we choose to run. I'm hearing this impact behind.
SPEAKER_02Just remember, he's gonna need his campaign contributions before he wins, not after.
SPEAKER_01We'll also be hosting a campaign rally in Rockfield in April of 2025. All right, so those are the power rankings. Um I think we maybe want to talk just quickly about maybe some transactions that occurred on the waiver wire over the over the past few days. I'll let you guys kind of take the lead on that real quick.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so um waiver wire, Xavier Hutchinson went to Braden for 33. No one else even bit on him.
SPEAKER_03I thought that was interesting.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because I mean he's already deep. And Xavier, even when he's had the opportunity. I mean, I know that Nico went out, like he hasn't done anything, and so uh Nico should be back next week. He's just gonna move to the third slot.
SPEAKER_03And and if Tank Dell gave you any sort of you know uh uh uh uh seeing into the future, uh Hutchinson's probably not gonna be that important.
SPEAKER_02The other crazy one to me was Zach Owen, Khalif Raymond for 22. He had a big what was that about? He had a big stat week last week. So if you just look at stats, Khalif Raymond had uh 33 points last week. But if you actually look at it, he had two receptions for 14 yards and a touchdown. And the biggest thing is he had a hundred and ninety punt return yards for a touchdown.
SPEAKER_01Well, and correct me if I'm wrong. I mean, yeah, you've got the Jamison Williams suspension, which which by the way, news today is a gun possession charge that could extend this. They gave him a gun possess possession charge?
SPEAKER_02This was a different interaction. Like he he had been pulled over a few weeks ago, apparently, and well, so he was in a car, and apparently the cop who came to let him go. They called a supervisor, and the supervisor was a Lions fan, apparently. Solemn body cam. So what's the problem here? I don't understand.
SPEAKER_01Well, so the gun was registered to him. He did not have a concealed carry permit. In in in Michigan, it's actually fascinating. Which doesn't exist in Indiana anymore, by the way.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, well, it's uh in Michigan it's a it's a fascinating rule because you can actually um open carry without a permit. But you have to have a permit to concealed carry. But if it was just in his car, how does that count as concealed? Because it's concealed.
SPEAKER_03Isn't it interesting that it's just okay, you have this how and how much of that just because it's a violation of so I don't think he'll be like suspended or anything for that.
SPEAKER_01I'm hoping he has one extra week though of suspension.
SPEAKER_03But why does he get suspended so fast with this and then you had rice that it's gonna take a year? Well, he didn't get suspended. No, he's not suspended for that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, well, it would be nice if they could stack up their suspensions and get them all over.
SPEAKER_01Right, it's all concurrent. Okay, right. I mean so you go from like, look, this guy's about to hit the trifecta. Uh you gamble on sports, you do drugs, and now you carry a gun.
SPEAKER_02Well, I think he needs to do awesome. He's gonna be doing the chatterbomb. He needs to cheddar bomb at first. You can't just have the gun. You need to shoot. Shoot yourself. Plax Go Burris yourself. Yes. All right. Shout out Michigan State. Let's bring it back to Khalif Raymond here. Back to Khalif Raymond. I just don't understand why Owen spent so much on it. Because those punt return yards, and I will say this again, I brought it up last year at the rules meeting. We need to, I don't mind awarding points for kick and taunt return yards, but him being able to get 19 points from punt return yards, just yards. That's crazy. Same thing with kick returns. Like that's what there's some games where these are five kick returns.
SPEAKER_01I am one man, and I'm not the commissioner. Lord willing, maybe that will be in my future. And I uh I go with the will of the league. But we are watering down all of these ancery roles from defense to kicker, now to put turn yon.
SPEAKER_02Everyone's gonna put one quarterback out and see what happens.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I mean, we've got to be really careful and thoughtful, Miles, about the way we address these challenges.
SPEAKER_02No, but what I'm saying is like I want top players to be the guys who are scoring the top points. Khalif Raymond is not a player that anyone's gonna play.
SPEAKER_01You're creating disparity amongst these teams that loses competitive nature of the league.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. Anyway. All right. I think Parker Washington, I think. I don't think we need to go through all of them. Like, I think the biggest thing.
SPEAKER_01I do think the Parker Washington one is worthwhile, yes.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so that one is, and then I was gonna say uh Coker. I think those two were the ones that would have made the most sense to spend the most money on out of all these other players. Yeah. So Parker Washington goes.
SPEAKER_02And they fell below the market threshold. Christian Kirk is out for the season, and um uh what's his name? Brian Thomas also looks to be banged up for a couple weeks. So Parker Washington, you would think, is the top wide receiver there. Um Elijah Moore, now that uh Jameis Winston is the quarterback, had a ton of targets this last game. Um he goes for eleven bucks to Beamer as well. So Beamer picks up a couple wide receivers. Um I will say one thing. Jake Adams Aaron Rodgers.
SPEAKER_01There was I mean, there was more movement on the waiver wire than I think maybe last week. I'm telling you a move that I really like. And maybe it's a little bit of fan bias, but the Elijah Moore move. Um Elijah Moore, obviously Amari Cooper's not there anymore. There's some target share to go around. He led the team in targets last week. Jameis Winston looks good. AFC player of the week, offensive player of the week. I think Elijah Moore, I didn't pursue it aggressively because my bye week situation didn't make sense there, but it's someone that I am very high on. I like Corbin's move for Elijah Moore. So those are the transaction moves on the waiver wire for uh week eight going into week nine.
SPEAKER_02So before we go into week nine, let's talk about our picks from last week. Um mouthpiece, Miles. Perfect. Perfect week. In my notes, perfect pick week for Miles. We're nice in it. He is back in it because that's a good point. I was I had a commanding lead.
SPEAKER_01And what, it's down to one? It is tied. But Miles said that last week. He said all it takes is one big week from someone. And he did his thing up.
SPEAKER_02He did it. And so I got it.
SPEAKER_01It's kind of like calling a shot, like your babe Ruth. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Right. So uh did you have it pulled up? Does anyone have it? I do have it pulled up. So I got all seven picks correct. Moved to 32 correct picks on the year. Um, Tim had four correct last week. That's four out of seven, so more than fifty percent. Yeah, he also moves to 32 total correct picks on the season. Um Quincy and Kyle both had three correct last week. Not a great week. Couldn't even beat the last quarter than 50%. Which is something to talk about. We'll talk about that. Uh so Kyle moves to 27 total uh correct picks, and Quincy is at 26 correct picks. So there's a little bit of distance, five picks differ. Yeah, I mean it really is it's the haves and the have nots. So we're racing for last place at this point. Don't get too far ahead of yourself. So the quarter though.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, let's talk about the interesting concept. And I just appreciate there's a clear attentiveness from Ryan Maxwell in the secretary of the pod. Yeah, that's a good way to put it. Yeah. And he's um this is the one place in his life where he's not like blowy at about it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. He's dedicated to this too, because we get a text message like 4 a.m. on the show. Every week. I think it's almost intentional. Do you think he schedules it? Is he staying up late or is he getting up early? Which one is it?
SPEAKER_03It was he's he's it was 7 30 and 8 a.m.
SPEAKER_02This was late, though. No, this was seven uh No, but this I'm what I'm saying is this was later than usual. He usually sends it like Oh no, sorry.
SPEAKER_03The one the one that we the week before was 7.30, this week was 3 40.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And self-admittedly, he's not a hard worker. So he's taking this seriously at least. Uh I love that he tracks it. So he went back, so we are we're through eight weeks, right? Yeah. So he went back, flipped a quarter on Friday. Was that 56 times for every every matchup of every team this for this whole season?
SPEAKER_02Gave us the data on the quarter. So the quarter this week had four correct picks. On the season when he went through and flipped, it has 33 correct picks. So just to clarify, the quarter would be doing better than all of us. Yes. Yes. Yes. But especially better than Kyle and Quincy. Like a lot better than Kyle and Quincy.
SPEAKER_01I'm just I'm using my energy on other things. Let's just flip a quarter next time. Plenty of time I think this is a natural segue.
SPEAKER_02This is like humans versus AI, though. You know? Like the quarter is AI. Can we be smarter? Can we be smarter than just the quarter?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I think I'm more in the liquency camp. Yeah. It's just statistics.
SPEAKER_01Let's go through the week nine matchups. And I'd love to have our traditional pick nine matchup music. Great. Alright. Let's start with my matchup. How about that? Okay.
SPEAKER_02This is a big one. Have you guys have you guys bet on uh we did? Hey, are we gonna have to start giving you guys points, you know, on these? Like, do you want to handicap these at all? Or you just want to.
SPEAKER_01Look, I'll never turn down a situation to be able to handicap a match. So Cromartis Kids versus Titty 6.0. And let me give Lay the Land real quick. I've been I've bit I've but I'm becoming a this is the year fan as the year's gone on, right? Okay. Um Braden's adding more and more to the league. I love the personality. And so we've embraced this kind of shit talking this this week already. I've I've dropped a couple of of memes. He said some things. He he he shared a private conversation publicly with the league. And and so it's so much fun, and we'll figure out where the line is as as we go through the next few days. But we did make a bet. So we we wait, is it loser has to be commissioner? No, that's already been that's already been decided. Um and we all know Braden's unfit for a commissionership. Wouldn't pass betting. He he wouldn't, and sadly, he just he just wouldn't. So we bet that uh if he wins this matchup, I have to wear a Purdue jersey at the draft next year. Okay. And obviously, if he loses, he has to wear an IU Hoosier jersey to the draft next year.
SPEAKER_03Does the winner get to does the winner supply it or does the loser choose it himself?
SPEAKER_01Look, we're both fans, we all have jerseys, so I think that I think the loser provide I'm sorry, the the winner would provide the jersey to the loser.
SPEAKER_02Okay. I just wonder if you're gonna.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02So this matchup, I mean two heavyweights here. You're at 4-4, he's at 5-3. Yeah, it's it's a big matchup. I will say on his side, Brian Thomas looks banged up. He's doing limited practices. Um, Higgins is also banged up. Stefan Diggs is now out for the year. Um, you would assume Pittman will be better now that Flacco is the quarterback. Kittle is on bye.
SPEAKER_01Kittle is on by. Um but he has a great backup tight end that was traded to him. Yeah. Yeah. Mark Andrews has been on a fucking tear.
SPEAKER_02Uh that's great. How much did you lend him for? Zero fab? It was like eight eight bucks. He's bad for the locker room, okay? Who do you have in the matchup? I've got Titty.
SPEAKER_01Okay. This is a week where, all things considered, I cannot pick against myself. As much as I've done that this year, I have to go with Cromartis Kids. Um, a weird pop-up this week. Josh Jacobs apparently dealing with an ankle issue. I don't care. Our team's too tough to bow down to a kid like Braden. Cromartis Kids wins this game. They win this game.
SPEAKER_03Tim, you want to go or you want me to go? Go ahead. You want me to go ahead. Uh so I've got Brayden. I've got worries about Jackson has been a big part of your team. But Jackson has trouble making it through the season completely. I wonder if he's starting to get a little banged up. There's some big concerns with fat going into this week. I think, and also, you had a big win last week.
SPEAKER_01Big win because it was against you. Yeah. Okay. Producer Tempo? Give me Brady. Uh, give me Titty. Wow. Um the quarter, so Oh, did we already have the quarter picks? Ryan shared with me the quarter picks. I've I already made my picks, wrote them down, and then he shared the quarter picks with me. Uh the quarter has, he did not use the the name, the God-given name, uh, the Christian name, Braden Abbott. He said junior. Junior wins. Junior wins.
SPEAKER_02Junior wins. Next up, uh, right to bear arms versus SCLSU mud dogs. Um Kendall still isn't fully healthy. I mean, he he doesn't look to be getting Pacheco back yet. He does have Puka back. You would think he's gonna start him this week. Um, Mike Evans looks to still probably be out. Is that right?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Uh yeah.
SPEAKER_01Candle. Okay. I've got the SCLSU mud dogs in this matchup. Commissioner.
SPEAKER_03Well, I've got to stick with it because I wrote it down, but as I'm looking more than of integrity. I think it's gonna be close. Uh at first I was thinking mud dogs were gonna run away with it, but uh as I'm looking this over a little more with Kendall, I think it is gonna be pretty competitive, but give me Ryan. Mud Dogs.
SPEAKER_02The quarter says mud dogs. Okay. Big data versus Jake from State Farm. Six and two versus Florida. A couple teams that are kind of on the move.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I agree.
SPEAKER_02I think Cody has one of the toughest teams in the league. Super, super deep. Uh, his wide receiver position has fallen into place now. I'm gonna go, Cody.
SPEAKER_01So Jake knows how to build things. He's proven that in Carroll County as our economic development director. And he's building a successful franchise in 2024. Uh give me Jake Adams.
SPEAKER_03Uh I agree with Miles. It's uh Cody's team still looks very solid. And Debo's out this week. I think yeah, Debo's out. I think um I also think uh whether he plays Lockett or not, I guess I don't know. I don't know if he has Lockett in this week, but um or maybe he got injured, so it doesn't really matter.
SPEAKER_01Well, he had like 1.7 last week.
SPEAKER_03Uh gimme Quincy. Uh sorry. Give me Quincy. Give me Cody.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna take Jake this week. The quarter says Cody.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Next matchup. We've got a podcast matchup this week. We do. MAGA versus Whiskey. Whiskey with an eye. Miles, go ahead.
SPEAKER_03I didn't even ask you if you were wanting to wager anything.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think that's good, let's get a bet. No, I'm not confident in this team. Um Baker has a tough matchup with Kansas City defense, and Nico is still out for me, and Jordan Mason on bye. Can't play him. I'm gonna go with uh go with Kyle this week.
SPEAKER_01So Najee's on by this week, which has been a foundation of success for Whiskey with an eye. Um with that being said, I've got faith in the commissioner, maybe not in his um his formal capacity, but in his managerial capacity.
SPEAKER_03And not as a leader. Wow.
SPEAKER_01Um I just look, Kyle, you've been on a losing streak. I believe in getting back to the mean. And I think you're gonna win this week, Kyle. I'm picking Kyle.
SPEAKER_02I think D Tank Dell could have a big game too, because Nico and Diggs are out.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so yeah, there's I mean, obviously not having Najee hurts, but uh it sounds like there's a chance Metcalf maybe makes it back, but even still without that, um Xavier Leggett got a gift with Johnson going away. So now he's the number one.
SPEAKER_02Deontay Johnson got a move to the Ravens. How do you feel about that for Zay?
SPEAKER_01I'm fine. Um, everything I'm reading is that he's going to place into the receiver three roll for vertical threat. And I don't think it eats into Zay or Rashad Bateman whatsoever.
SPEAKER_02Disagree.
SPEAKER_01So disagree.
SPEAKER_03Uh yeah, still a tough matchup, but I just it's, I mean, we all know even some of this is just playing some probability. It's hard. I mean, four games, losses. There's some been some tough sledding there. I think this team's kind of starting to get right a little bit now. Uh Alvin Camara hopefully starting to improve. Uh I'm going with myself. Gimme MAGA.
SPEAKER_01The quarter says Kyle.
SPEAKER_02Too bad. Whiskey with an eye. Subpar versus team beamer. Five and three versus three and five. George Pickens is on by. Caffrey is not back yet.
SPEAKER_01Give me Corbin. Yeah, I'm with you on this. Um, as much as I think Pete can run circles around Corbin in his management of his roster.
SPEAKER_02Corbin did good this week. He did.
SPEAKER_01Um I just I think I think this is Corbin's week. I'm I'm going with Corbin. I got Corbin. Gimme Pete. Oh.
SPEAKER_02The quarter says Pete. Is the quarter included in our um Consensus quake?
SPEAKER_03That's gonna be that's gonna be hard.
SPEAKER_02Consensus quake is just this. Okay, okay.
SPEAKER_03Well, because it's gonna be a lot harder to do that.
SPEAKER_02Because we are versus the quarter. Like we don't want the quarter to win. Yeah. So the quarter says Pete. Next up, IUI doc versus laces out. I think um like I said, I think Scotty has a real problem at his wide receiver positions, and Cameron's team is coming on. Um, I'm gonna go with Cameron.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, not much analysis for me on this. I've got Cameron. Echo the same, Cameron. Producer Tim. Oh, there it is. If you want to pile them on just a touch, the quarter has camera.
SPEAKER_03But nobody really gotta do it.
SPEAKER_02Last matchup, fillin' holes at one and seven versus chasing TDs at four and four. Phil needs a win, and I think he gets one this week.
SPEAKER_01You know what? I think the same. I am riding fillin' holes in week nine. Phil beats Zach Owen. I've got the same.
SPEAKER_03He can't, it's hard to go that long.
SPEAKER_02I I want to give Phil a consensus quake so bad, but I can't do it. I can't do it. Give me chasing TDs for the win. Sorry, Phil. The quarter says Phil.
SPEAKER_01Oh no Producer Tim. Back to back, sorry Phil.
SPEAKER_02You know, this is probably. I mean, I'm shocked that we had a nearer consensus quake with how uh Phil's team's been doing this year. Yeah. So, and he does deserve a win. I just don't think that he's gonna get one this week.
SPEAKER_01Look, you've you've had a very good year picking, so people probably need to believe your thoughts here. Yeah. Um so one I've got one thing to talk about quickly before we get into a special segment, and I understand the podcast is gonna be a little bit longer this week. Um, as we just kind of look at Outlook for the remainder of the year, um schedule, existing records going into week nine. He even though what is he, three and five, is still really well positioned, and here's why. He gets Christian McCaffrey back. He has a he does have a big bye week versus Phil. But his remaining schedule is Beamer Scotty Phil Kindle. Those are four very winnable. He's gonna be favorite. Yes, very winnable matchups. And yes, tons of volatility. We could we could we get that. Three and five. Four potential wins of beamer. That's seven wins. Really, six can potentially get you in. Are you calling this right now? Is Pete gonna make the playoffs? I think I said this last week when you asked me who are my three teams that are kind of in this in this space that get in, and I said, I think I said Cameron, myself, and Pete. And Pete's schedule looks great.
SPEAKER_03It's just it's fascinating because there's so many matchups, like even just this week, even those that are two games behind, you could flip-flop on those, and then now you're one game behind. And you've got this field that's just so condensed.
SPEAKER_02That's why points four is also really important on the air.
SPEAKER_01So that I just wanted to make sure we we touched on that real quickly. Alright, it is time. Tomorrow on Thursday, October 31st, is Halloween. So a little special Halloween section. Special edition. We'll be out and about. Do you have a costume? I'm not dressing up. Tucker's gonna be a little monkey. He's been working on his hooaaaaah! Right. I think I'm Gecko Boy. R.I.P. Haramin. Yeah, I don't know what what's that?
SPEAKER_03It's uh PJ masks. I don't know, because outfit that I have to wear. Or at least I had to wear it this last weekend at her family.
SPEAKER_01So I'm not gonna I mean, okay, let me ask this question, I guess, before we get into the segment. Do you want me to do this according to kind of power rankings in in that order or just randomized? Randomized? Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_04From my electrode.
SPEAKER_01So Brayden, let's just since we're randomizing.
SPEAKER_02So what I don't think you introduced the bit. Well, what are you? We're comparing teams to Halloween candies.
SPEAKER_01Halloween candy. Yeah. Okay. So we've mixed this up over the years. We've done candies previously. We've also done horror movies. I think maybe maybe that was last year. I don't. I I know we've done the Christmas movies, but I don't remember doing horror movies. I feel like at some point we've done that. Anyway, regardless. Let's start with Braden Abbott, and this is the year. I've got Braden as junior mints. I see what you did there. Yeah. Wow. I mean in charge of the junior league. Yeah, the junior league, the junior member of the CCPL, the newest member. Makes a lot of sense. Yeah. So junior mints is Braden Abbott this season for just that reason. I like Junior Mints a lot. Yeah, I mean they are good.
SPEAKER_02Junior Mints are good. Yeah. But I think that for Braden's candy, you're gonna need to have a top-tier candy. Because that is a top-tier team. And I just wouldn't put it at Junior Mints.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_02I like it. I mean, it's that's getting into Snickers, Twix, Skittles territory. We don't need to come up with what we would call them. Can we just agree or agree or disagree? I'll think of what candy everyone is.
SPEAKER_03I'm not saying that at all. I'm saying that like it's just like it's just like what Tim said, where he's like, I think he's more in a Snickers Twix category.
SPEAKER_02I like the junior. Yeah, that's again. That's a good that's a good bit.
SPEAKER_01Alright. Zach Owen. Zach Owen is dots. No. No one knows what dots are. I like dots. Really? I really like. They have no flavor.
SPEAKER_02They stick to your teeth. I love dots.
SPEAKER_03That's a terrible thing.
SPEAKER_01I'm a big fan of dots. Really? I think he's dots because they're on no one's radar.
SPEAKER_03I love dots.
SPEAKER_01Some people kind of like it. A lot of people don't. There's just no real opinion about dots.
SPEAKER_03I would say he's more like a like a whopper. Like the whoppers or whatever, right? Because like they're actually pretty good, but they're kind of annoying too. Yeah, that's true. Not saying that Zach's annoying, but maybe his team's a little annoying.
SPEAKER_02The dots are annoying too, though. I think that's that's right.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Pete Crowd, subpar. MM's. This is why. There's a brand. Yeah. There's a history. Yeah. Yeah. But it's not as good. And this is a reflective of Pete Season. Not as good as peanut or peanut butter MMs. Yeah, that's true.
SPEAKER_02He's just regular MMs. Very rarely are people gonna pick the MMs. Right. But everyone knows about them. They're classic.
SPEAKER_01Yes. I mean, it is the traditional candy. That everyone's not going to complain about being in their bag at the end of trick-or-treating. I mean, it is it is the everyone knows about MNs. Yep. So that is Pete. Okay. I gotta tell you. And I think Scotty is Candy Corn. And here's why. Everyone has a strong opinion about Candy Corn. Yeah. And as we've talked about Scotty's team this season, this is not a reflection of the quality of his team necessarily. It's a reflection of strong opinions of Scotty's team.
SPEAKER_02I can see that.
SPEAKER_01And so Scotty's candy corn this season.
SPEAKER_02I don't mind candy corn, actually. Yeah. You gotta make like the different versions of it, or do you just like the OG? I like the pumpkins. Well, what I would say is that candy corn is not like a trick-or-treat candy. That's like a candy dish candy.
SPEAKER_03It's like what your grandma hits out of. You're not getting candy corn at the door.
SPEAKER_02Just loose candy corn in your bag. Yeah. Alright, it's probably late to the fetal.
SPEAKER_03Can they even sell it in like bags where you could get it? I don't think individual bags know.
SPEAKER_01That would be lame. And everyone would be upset if they got that at the door. Yeah. Alright, Corbin Beamer. Team Beamer. He's a blow pop. You know why? It gets worse as you eat it. Like you want to be done with your blow pop. Like, let me bite this thing off and be done with this. Corbin is a blowpop.
SPEAKER_02The world's worst gum. You are right. I haven't had a blow pop in a while. Remember the owl commercial? Like that was. See, that's a tootsie. No, that's a tootsie pop. That's a different thing. Demonstratably better. Wait, what's the difference? Tootsie roll in the middle versus gum in the middle. Yeah. Oh, fuck. Yeah. Yes. Yes.
SPEAKER_01Alright. Jake Adams. He's 100 grand. Kind of low-key underrated. Like, I I like a I like 100 grand. A lot of people are kind of like, yeah. Like, I'm not gonna complain about having it. It's not much on the radar for people on their candy selection, but it's a pretty good candy bar. Yeah. You're never gonna be disappointed with that. I think Jake Adams is 100 grand. I ain't crazy to know candies.
SPEAKER_02I'd say more like Snickers. Whoa, that's that is high praise. That is that is a top-tier Halloween candy. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Miles, you're a payday.
SPEAKER_04Unless you do someone.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Because he's nuts. Little nutty. A little nutty. Good taste. Again, it's kind of in that hundred grand category. People like it. It's just not in that up to diversified. It's just peanuts. And it's not peanuts.
SPEAKER_02And it's not for everyone. Yeah, I don't. I was thinking I'm more like hot tamales. Okay. It's an underrated Halloween. You know, where it's like you first get them and you're like, oh, cool, hot tamales. And then you start eating them, you're like, oh god. This is bad. I don't think my team's that good, and it's looking to get worse.
SPEAKER_01So I have I have Cromartis Kids, my own team, has Starburst. Yeah. Pretty well liked. I like that. Which color? Um just all the colors. It's popular. You don't get to choose. That's the thing. So this is what I was gonna say, though. The the downside of Starburst is it is uh it's not filling, and you kind of want more when you're done. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Should be doing more, but it's yeah, but and see the thing I don't like about Starburst either is it seems like if they if it gets too old, it's like it's like a rock. You get to get it just right.
SPEAKER_02And the thing is, if you get a thing of Starbucks, a Halloween candy, you get like the two little squares. Yeah. They might be yellow. And no one wants a yellow one. True. You know, you get red, it's solid. You get pink, it's solid.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Orange, maybe. Yellow sucks. Brayden Abbott. This is the year. This is gonna be controversial. I think he's a three Musketeers. There's not much to it. It's kind of light. I thought he was already junior, man. Yeah. Oh, shoot. My notes are wrong. How many do I have here? Like, uh, yeah. I was just thinking, I'm like, wait, I thought we were. I wrote down a name on it. Okay. Let's go back then. Let's talk about Cameron. Is Cameron a three musketeer? No. Okay. Cameron's a babe Ruth.
SPEAKER_02You got too many candy bars in here. Yeah, you don't have any of the new stuff. What's the new stuff?
SPEAKER_01What's the new stuff? Yeah, I don't know what that is.
SPEAKER_03Uh like uh you've got uh sweet tart ropes. Have you ever had those? No. It's like uh it's like a Twizzler rope with like sweet tart in the middle. It's funny. It's fucking phenomenal. Uh Sour Patch Kits. Uh just sweet tarts in general, right? Uh yeah. Anyways, we'll let you continue.
SPEAKER_01So he was a duplicate, so scratch that out.
SPEAKER_03Alright.
SPEAKER_01I've got I've got Phil as a pixie stick. I was gonna say the the so the pixie stick, the paper gets wet, there's no substance, it's cheap. Like if if you're like, oh shoot, I gotta grab some candy and I don't want to spend much money, you grab some pixie sticks. No one likes them. There's nothing to them. Phil is the pixie stick.
SPEAKER_02See, I was gonna I was gonna pick that he was like when when you go to some old lady's house and you get like pennies. No, or a just a candy, like a candy apple.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, the apple.
SPEAKER_02What the fuck is this, lady? Why did you work so hard on this? Just go buy some real candy. See, in in in Detroit, you wouldn't get apples. People would just, you know, you weren't allowed to touch them.
SPEAKER_03We've got we got we got one we got one in our neighborhood that it's a dentist and he hands out toothbrushes. Oh no. What a prick. That sucks. And they're cheap too. They're not even good toothbrushes.
SPEAKER_02They're like ones that you would get at like the dollar store. You know what? If that if the dentist is smart, they've doubled down on the sugar. They gotta get more customers.
SPEAKER_03With and I put my uh you know, my yeah, put your like phone number on there. Yeah, that's marketing. Got a cavity?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03After this, come find me.
SPEAKER_02You guys like this? It's like Halloween club music. I think it's I think it's great.
SPEAKER_01Alright, so I've got Maxwell's Snickers. Okay.
SPEAKER_02You went really hard on the candy bars. He must like chocolate. He must be a chocolate guy.
SPEAKER_01Look, I've gone through dots and candy corn and blow pops.
SPEAKER_03But you could have thrown dots out and put like cyber patch kits. And pixie sticks? No, no. Pixie sticks I get. Squish fish. I don't even know the last time I've seen a pixie stick in a milk duds.
SPEAKER_01Oh, milk duds are good.
SPEAKER_03Alright, we can't throw them off too much. Okay. He's already I think.
SPEAKER_01So we talked about Maxwell's Snickers. Okay, Maxwell as a bigger one. It's kind of like top echelon.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_01Everyone wants it. He's crushing it. Power rankings. We've talked about this. Kyle. Your Laffy Taffy.
SPEAKER_03I don't mind that. That's the first kind of non-candy bar you've done. Am I different? Yes.
SPEAKER_02Laffy Taffies are solid. I like it. How about Airhead? That's maybe better than that. That would also qualify. I'd be alright with that. I think Airhead.
SPEAKER_03Because some of those flavors are pretty good. Especially the mystery one. But some of them aren't. Have you had that one? Where it's like it comes, it's the ghost palette. It's white and you don't know what flavor it is. Do they still have jokes on them? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, they still do.
SPEAKER_02I think Kyle's airhead. I like that. I don't know. Quincy has become overcome. I think that Quincy's been drinking. Do you think he OD'd on Zen? He legitimately just ran to the bathroom. I think he OD'd on Zin. I'm really glad that all of you were here for this.
SPEAKER_03He was just offering that to me earlier, and I was thinking, like, no, I don't want that. I'm gonna vomit.
SPEAKER_02Quincy threw in like two sixes of Zen before this. And I don't know if you noticed on the podcast, but he got progressively more than that. That must have been why he's really struggling here, too. He just ran to the bathroom, driving.
SPEAKER_03All his notes are like starting to make him dizzy.
SPEAKER_02I think we all know that. I just thought we were gonna get 14 candies that remind him of Brayden. Yeah, I think we all know that Quincy's basically a cocker spaniel. He just pukes all the time.
SPEAKER_03Oh my god, this is hilarious.
SPEAKER_02Well, that's all we got. Happy Halloween, everybody. Halloween. Except was that was that all? Did we get through all of them?
SPEAKER_03I think we did.
SPEAKER_02Did Quincy get a um candy? Yeah, let's see if can you read his notes?
unknownI think.
SPEAKER_03Okay, segment Halloween candy. So we had Kyle, Laffy, Taffy, Raiden. Uh no. I don't think he did Kindle yet. Well, what would you guys pick for Kindle? He didn't even put Kindle on here.
SPEAKER_02Alright, so I'll I'll put the question to you guys. You're walking at you're you're 13, 12, 13 years old. You're walking up to a door. What what candy are you wanting to see? Um I like milk duds, like dots. I think Kindle is um what are those just the really hard caramels? You know? What are those caramels? Were there's originals? No, no, no, no. The um the really sticky ones that really get stuck in your teeth. Oh, those are I mean, I think they just call them caramels. It's like a name for them. Anyway, I think that's Kindle.
SPEAKER_03Because like at first it's okay, but then it just scares it hurts you, honestly. I was just gonna say he's like the butterscotch. Did he did we have Cody?
SPEAKER_02Or do you say like he had just a million dollars? This is great, because we can like we're trying to disagree.
SPEAKER_03Oh no, he didn't do Cody, but this one makes sense. Okay, Cody, Cody was re uh Reese Cup. Okay. That makes sense.
SPEAKER_02That's a good one. That's that is a top-tier Halloween candy. Yeah. Yeah. Kyle, what's your go-to Halloween candy?
SPEAKER_03Uh, I'm not like, I'm kind of a I I I'll put it in two. Okay, I'll just say two. Like, Reese Cup is obviously like timeless, right? That's elite. But weirdly, I only like I specifically like the Easter egg ones, though.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03Those are like the best.
SPEAKER_02Well, you know they're all the same. They're the same. But there's more than the other. There's something about the ratio. Yeah, there's a different ratio. See, I thought the shape was all the same. You just sort of like talked yourself into like saying that.
SPEAKER_03No, because like the the ridge, the ridge on the cup has more chocolate, whereas like the uh like either the Christmas tree or the uh the bunny or whatever it is. Okay. Anyways, um, and then the other one would be uh price sour patches.
SPEAKER_02Oh, those are solid. Yeah. You know what I had the other day? I was I was driving on on the road. I was spent the whole day on the road yesterday. You know, you do some gas station food.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I had these Skittles gummies. They're fantastic. Oh, yes. You gotta try these.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, actually, uh I've yeah, our kids got some from Kisses.
SPEAKER_02Those were good. I hate the whole bag, which is not smart.
SPEAKER_03You know the other one that I really love that I just thought about is the you remember how they used to have like the nerd's rope? And then they made it into like uh nerd's rope bites. That sounds good. Oh, that thing that's I've never seen him actually get handed out as actual Halloween candy, but well, so I think that Quincy might be dead.
SPEAKER_02Uh I'm probably gonna have to drive. Is there anything you guys want to stay here tonight? Uh and is there anything else you guys want to add for this week's pot? Nothing. I think that's all we can. Happy Halloween. Quincy's back. He's safe. Got tears in his eyes. Yeah. Don't take candy from weird people. Overdosed on Zen. Anything to say?
SPEAKER_01So you you nailed Cody with Reese Cups. Thank you for checking out the stuff. Um, yeah, of course. Uh Kindle was the omission. And did you guys cover Kindle?
SPEAKER_02Because Yeah, what are those caramel things that you chew on that are super they super sticky?
SPEAKER_01Milk Duds? No. I'm not sure what. Look, I think Kindle's probably the three Musketeers. Oh. Why not? Like Musketeers are pretty good. But there's nothing notable about them.
SPEAKER_03No, you know what Kindle is? Kindle's that weird peanut butter uh uh candy that's always like Halloween for older people. It's kind of like peanut buttery and it always comes in original. It's no no, it's it's the one that comes in it only comes around in Halloween and it's always in the orange and black wrapping. And they're like, you know what I'm talking about? Nope.
SPEAKER_01I I don't.
SPEAKER_03Oh no. It's like it's kind of peanut butter-y, but then not it's it's weird.
SPEAKER_02Speaking of old people candy, you remember those little strawberry candies that are in old people's purses? You guys ever have those? Oh, those are so dope.
SPEAKER_01I don't like them. No, give me a word there's over that.
SPEAKER_03I hate it when you like have the heart and then you go into the center and then it's like and that stick to your teeth.
SPEAKER_02So I used to uh, you know, we would we would do uh parades with candidates, and you know, back in that when uh you used to be able to do candy, now you know, big government has taken over, and you're supposed not supposed to throw candy out. Okay. So we would we would have all these volunteers, they're all throwing candy, but we would always find one volunteer and we'd fill his pockets up with Werther's original, and he would just walk along the edge and hand a Werthers to all the old people.
SPEAKER_01Clever, I like it. It worked out great. I think that that's next level constituent service. It really is. That covers our Halloween candy segment. Glad we got through that.
SPEAKER_03I'm glad you got through it. I'm glad you're able to come back.
SPEAKER_01And we lost a lot of good men out there. That's the CCPL week nine podcast Halloween special edition. Thank you for joining us. Good week, guys.
SPEAKER_03We gave it the freaking way.
