Producer Tim and Commissioner Kyle are in studio for this week's podcast. Listen as they breakdown the weekly matchups and take Questions for the Commish.
Welcome, welcome, welcome. It's the CCPL pod. Your speakers are not uh telling you wrong. This is not Quincy. Producer Tim here. We're here in Branch View Studios. I'm here with Commissioner Kyle. Kyle, how are you doing, sir? Hey, we're doing great. A little little light tonight.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. It's it feels really weird not having Quincy and Miles here.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and and I don't I'm not sure what happened. I think that there was a bit of a scheduling snafu. Uh I'm out of town on Thursday and Friday of this week. And uh, you know, but I think this is good. We're we're trying to keep the weekly uh pace of the pod going. And yeah, let's, you know, I think it'll be maybe a a little bit of a different vibe today. For sure. I mean, me personally, my plan was is I'm gonna spend the next hour giving my thoughts on all of Miles' trades for the year. I think that's fantastic. Yeah, I know that everyone's been the feedback I've been getting is everyone wants to know what I think about all those.
SPEAKER_03This is what I was thinking was like, at first I was like, well, I can't I don't know if we could do it with just you know me and Tim, and then I thought, you know what? This is a you know, sometimes when you get more people, it crowds out some voices, and this is your opportunity to really open up.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and and but here's the thing, and this is gonna become painfully obvious in the next 45 minutes or so, is that I don't spend a lot of time paying attention to these things. I I view my role in the pod as primarily on the production side.
SPEAKER_03So um But you do a fantastic job, yeah, boys.
SPEAKER_01So uh, you know, we're we're gonna do our best here to kind of uh go through some of these results and and uh yeah, I think we'll have a nice uh we got some questions at the end. Some people have been uh submitted some questions. So I think uh I think we'll have a nice pod today, but why don't we uh do you want to kick it off and let's kind of kind of go through the results? What were the surprises this week?
SPEAKER_03Um, so we had a few like really important matches. One of them would have been like me and Pete. Um and then let's start with that one because again, I'm not paying attention.
SPEAKER_01All this is new information for me.
SPEAKER_03It so that matchup and Pete was texting me a little bit on Sunday. Um, it was like pretty neck and neck until Sunday night. And he had CMC and Bichon left. And I think I had like I think I had like a 30-point lead with Ken Walker still yet to play.
SPEAKER_01And watching that game was so miserable. Just the slow draining away of your chances to win.
SPEAKER_03Well, and it it didn't even like feel like it was gonna be too slow. Because like I think I texted I think I texted Pete like in the second like quarter or something, like, yeah, you're gonna win. Because Christian McCaffrey was just running over everyone.
SPEAKER_01Well, and and really it's starting to look like and and Pete, you know, has always traditionally had a strong team. Uh, but sitting there at five and two, he's got to seem really happy, feel really happy with how things go. And CMC is is coming into his own. It seems like he might be the whole offense in San Francisco. And he looked so honest and exceptional this year, too.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and then he got he got 24 points from Chris Olave, which that one probably pissed it. It the you know, CMC getting 35 points didn't piss me off as much as it did Chris Olave, because I've had Chris Olave for like the last three years, and that's the first time he's ever had two touchdowns in one game.
SPEAKER_01And you got to be a little disappointed getting uh into the triple digits and not taking a victory.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah. I mean, that's the thing, is like you're like shooting usually for 90. Um really the biggest disappointment was Ken Walker. Um Michigan State. That is just such it sucks. Like Quincy even texted me and was like, you know, what do you how do you feel about the Ken Walker Charbonnet situation? Like, is it out of one out of ten? And I'm like, it's a hundred. Like how frustrating it is. Because no matter what you do, you're gonna play the wrong guy each week. Well, it sounds like maybe there's a trade in there for you. Maybe. Or one of them just I luck out, one of them gets hurt or something, and and then it it it improves it.
SPEAKER_01So well, maybe going from one uh strong team to maybe uh less of a competitive matchup, you know, it's starting to think that the uh you know water always kind of reaches its level. I think that the plan for MAGA is uh is not to win a lot of games for the rest of the year, but putting up 55 points obviously is not going to get there. Uh team Beamer uh sitting at five and two. We talked about this on the pod last week.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, he continues to find a way. Um despite not having um the points, he's he's by far the weakest, you know, team at that top epsilon.
SPEAKER_01But I mean, think about this for a second. So you're you're Corbin, yeah. You get negative points out of your defense. You get zero points out of one of your flexes. Yeah. Zero points. You your RB1 6.4 points, your QB gets 11 points, and you still win. Yes. I mean, shout out to the exceptional game Jameer Kids.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and I mean, that's where we've always said anytime a player puts up like 35 points, you're almost just guaranteed a win just because of uh just how much that carries. I mean, you know, you think that's like that's two solid days out of two players.
SPEAKER_01Well, and I think in and obviously, and I know Cody, if you're listening, is probably in the same boat as I am. You know, a lot of excitement around the Lions this year. But even if you look at how that offense is doing, um, it's pretty clear that Jameer is the is by far the favorite back there. And every now and you know, I know that um David Montgomery had that great week maybe two, three weeks ago. Um, but he he barely got the ball at all this past week. And I think we're gonna see more and more of that uh throughout the year.
SPEAKER_03So you do have to worry on Corbin's side, like you know, Jamison Williams, big day, and then he goes to zero.
SPEAKER_01You know, last week he had a big week. Yeah, Jameson had a couple drops, and uh, you know, he here's the there's been a lot of action on uh online on Jameson Williams about how just him being in the game that the the Lions are basically paying him to be a decoy, um, in that they're forcing defenses to cover the deep ball, and that's gonna open up um ASB across the middle. And uh if that's the case, the Lions are gonna score a lot of points, but also Jameson Williams is starting to get a little frustrated up.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. So yeah, I th I think that's uh you know, there's not much to talk about Miles' team. We obviously know kind of he's already gone to rebuilding and he's just yeah.
SPEAKER_01I mean, maybe all right, silver lining for Miles. Eggbuka is looking like, especially Mike Evans going back down. He's not coming back. I mean, Eggbuka is gonna have a nice season, I think.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah, for sure. Um I just don't think he has enough players to piece everything else together, but we'll see. Maybe he'll still piece some wins together. All right, what else you got? Uh Seer. Next we can talk about IUI Doc and Chasing TDs.
SPEAKER_01Well, a really down week for IUI Doc who's been a traditionally been a great team.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I mean, you know, he couldn't catch a break. You know, Jaden Daniels, I think he went down like halfway through that game.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he's out this week.
SPEAKER_03So he's really been battling some injuries, and I think this team, while when it's when it was healthy, it looked good. Now you've got to be real, you know, Mike Evans is is out for the year. That really changes. Yeah, even though he did get Saquon in that trade, you do like Saquon's gotta be a frustrating one, too, right now. Like, right? You're hoping that okay, the name they're gonna figure it out. They haven't yet. But boy, he you know, I don't think he's had like one or two. Okay, so he's had he's had four games that he's put above ten points, essentially, and then he's also had three that are below ten.
SPEAKER_01So he's a middle of the road running back right now. Yeah, so yeah, um exceptional. Cameron puts up 80 points. Yeah, I mean, but let's talk about um Owen's team. Exceptional week. Is he high points this week?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I think he was high points, and um so good for him. You know, Judkins looks awesome. Chase, it's amazing. Flacco, what Flacco did to that offense.
SPEAKER_01Ageless.
SPEAKER_03Like everybody, you know, it's just the offensive line, they're terrible, which they don't have a good offensive line. But wow, when you get a competent quarterback, the difference that makes.
SPEAKER_01It really is incredible. That should be a lesson for all the NFL teams. You get these young guys. Um, Joe Flacco has no idea what he's I should say, all right. He doesn't know the playbook, he doesn't know what they're doing, but he can walk up to that line, he can read a defense, and he can throw a ball to one of the best receivers on the planet. I mean, as at what 41? Yep, shout out 41-year-olds, still got it. So good for him. I I watched uh um uh just some of his uh press conferences this week. I really like his attitude. I think that he's doing his best out there. He's he's obviously playing at his high at a high level still, and uh he's gonna help them win, keeping them alive in the AFC North. For sure.
SPEAKER_03So uh next up, Braden and uh Jake from State Farm.
SPEAKER_01So uh You know, Commissioner Cowell, I'm starting to think that this is not the year.
SPEAKER_03His team, you know, I I said I I didn't like that Crosby Merritt trade, which obviously he's actually removed him already off his um roster, which we'll talk about here uh a little bit later. But um, you know, outside of Ferguson, and of course he got Rashi Rice back, which which did have a great day. Instant impact. Um but Brian Thomas just that that Jaguar, they just don't look like him and Lawrence are on the same page. I watched some of that game and it just they just don't I mean I think Thomas had a couple drops. He just doesn't look very good. Um you know DJ Moore is is one that's again, it I don't know, maybe he'll break out. He's kind of a a high floor right now, but he's not really done a whole lot on the upside. Um and then on the other side, Jake Um, you know, wins it with 108 points. Uh I don't think it was really ever close. It it I think he pretty much held a steady lead. Devontae Smith going off for almost 30 points. Um, you know, he's gonna run into problems, I think, though, with Hubbard and Montgomery moving forward. Um, you know, Matt Stafford had a huge day, um, which that offense looks really good.
SPEAKER_01Looks like they're not afraid to I wasn't surprised that Stafford had a great day. I was surprised about how poorly the Jaguars played.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, they didn't really put, I mean, it's kind of funny. It was like um I was listening to a fantasy podcast and they're like, yeah, let's just let Devontae Adams, let's leave him uncovered three times at the goal line, or like putting them on single coverage every time, because that's gonna work.
SPEAKER_01You know, it it it's one of those things where uh it just makes you think about how hard football is to defend. Um I was thinking about that a lot at the Lions game. You know, you have all these these receivers who just are always open. Yep. And you think to yourself, well, why don't they just cover that guy? And you know, these these defenses have gotten so complex and so sort of um play-specific that it really is incredible what what they're able to do. So you can get a guy like Smith open as much as he was and have a really exceptional game.
SPEAKER_03You know, so that goes back to that thing of of in the end, like I don't think there was anything crazy performance-wise from Jake's side. Yes, you get a couple guys that have some some big upside, but usually if you're getting around that hundred point mark, you're probably gonna get a pretty good chance of winning in this league, getting getting a win that week.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, difference maker there. I think Devonta Smith does get if he if he goes back to the mean and he's at like 12 points, yeah, then all of a sudden this is a whole different matchup. Exactly.
SPEAKER_03Uh next one we'll do Cody and um Maxwell. Wow. It you know, it actually looked close, and I think even going into Monday night, um who did he have? Oh, Cup. So if Cup had had a good game, this could have been I mean, he could have maybe been the first one to knock off Cody because um, or not knock him off, but get a loss, because just it was like I thought early on when you were watching this early Sunday, of course, you know, Cody has Jonathan Taylor, Taylor was just running all over um the Chargers, and then he also had Devontae Adams. So like the early slate, you were already like, oh man, Cody's just gonna run away with this. And it did look like it, but then Bo Nicks. Bo Nicks that game what did you watch any of that game? No, I didn't, but I mean what a comeback. That was crazy. Um because I remember seeing that they were like 19, it was like 19 to nothing going into the fourth quarter.
SPEAKER_01Well they blew a 19-point lead in the fourth quarter. That's just crazy.
SPEAKER_03So Bo Nicks puts up 40 points, and that brings his team back into it, and of course, probably you know, the one week that you have a guy that puts up 40 points, but you're playing the juggernaut.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I mean, that that was my thing. I think you're right. Like I as I recall, we may have talked on the pod last week. I mean, at some point it's gonna take a lot to beat Cody, and you see, you know, this looked like this is probably one of his closest matchups of the year. But what it took to get there is just a an exceptional night from Bo Knicks. Um and and really great performances from you know, a lot of his players and and still ten points off. And and Cody did it with you know, George Kittle scoring zero points for him, too. So in theory, I mean he he he could have been like 130.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_01Um, so I mean, just uh I I'm I'm curious to see. I don't think he'll go undefeated, right? This is like but we're in like the the territory where it's gonna take it'll be a fluke when he loses. For sure.
SPEAKER_03Um next matchup, uh Cromartie's kids laces out. This one really wasn't close. Um you know, Scotty's team just he, you know, he didn't get help. Jalen Waddle, you know, uh two's playing awful. And so, you know, Waddle should have had a much, you know, he's the primary wide receiver there, but he's not getting anything from him. Um and he's just got a lot of injuries. His just team just doesn't have he just doesn't have much, and and it's just uh outside of Hertz, just really hurting him.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and and they seem both these teams came into this matchup at three and three, and it just feels so different now. Yeah. Where where Carmarty's four and three lace is out three and four, and it just feels like a mountain between those two.
SPEAKER_03I mean, and you know, you like you think of like say Scott's team versus say Corbin's. It's crazy that Corbin is five and two just based off of his points, but at the same time, I still like his team much better than say Scotty's.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Right?
SPEAKER_01For sure.
SPEAKER_03Um, so it feels like Scotty should probably be more in that lower, and maybe we're gonna start to see some of that start to to wither away a little bit on the on the uh win side. Um, but yeah, you know, uh on Cromartie's kids puts up 93 points. Um not a great day, but solid. Yeah, you know, it's it took away a nice win.
SPEAKER_01Like it I don't think it's much to write home about.
SPEAKER_03Williams and Jacobs continue to do their thing. They're almost putting up 20 points each. Um Kamara's kind of an issue um potentially, but I think he picked up um I don't remember if he picked up the backup for uh maybe he didn't. I'm not sure. I'd have to go back and look at that. But um but he also lost Kendra Miller, so uh which was maybe going to replace um Alvin Kamara, maybe could have gotten more carries before the end of the season. I'm pretty sure Kendra Miller's not returning at the New Orleans Saints after that. So um after the ACL tear that he lost, so or that they lost him to, so so yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um maybe our closest matchup of the week, uh Kendall getting a nice win uh over fill and holes.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I I felt terrible for Phil because he was he was set up to win it. I think like um I think I remember looking early on like uh like before maybe Sunday night and was like, okay, yeah, he's got a really good shot. Uh Keenan Allen going off for 119 yards and a touchdown. Uh you know, he had um who else did well, you know, Lab McConkey had a good day pretty much. I mean, not not great, but but had a solid day at 15 targets.
SPEAKER_01Phil had the pieces together to win, but still just could not get it together. And and let's let's go down, and it's not like he's sitting here being like he would have started, you know, um, he would have sat Laporta, for instance, you know, who only got three, and then sitting on his bench is 25.9 points from Gadston. You know, yeah, that's tough. He's just having a tough year.
SPEAKER_03Um, but you wouldn't, you know, you wouldn't have played Gadston over like that's the thing that like it's kind of like that it's frustrating. But he never would have made that decision. Yeah, yeah. Um, you know, Kendall on Kendall's side, he still put up 96 points, was still a guy putting up two guys almost putting up zero points.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So still tons of upside. Jalen Warren looks like he is the workhorse there. Drake May looks good. Uh Trey McBride had a bounce back huge day. Um Chase Brown's maybe going to start improving. You know, 11 carries for 108 yards. Uh, you makes in a touchdown there, and you're already at a 20-point almost day there. So that's starting to look a lot better for him.
SPEAKER_01And you're Kendall and you're sitting here at four and three, Drake Mays on the upswing, Puka's coming back. Like he could be in a pretty good space.
SPEAKER_03For sure. I mean, you when you when you get a win, when you have one of your, you know, the number one wide receiver on your team that's out, like that's just huge. Yeah. Right. Just grinding through it. So yeah, I think that's the that was the last match.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, hang in there, Phil. And you know, I know it's just a it's just a tough season. It just is.
SPEAKER_03It's uh it's a marathon, not a sprint, right?
SPEAKER_01So uh let's talk uh is there any action on the trades or waiver wire?
SPEAKER_03So so we did have um we did have some more trades that have happened in the of course in the last like two hours.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay. So we're recording this on Wednesday night. Yes.
SPEAKER_03Um so before I well, let's go ahead and talk about the trades, and then I'll I'll give my input. I haven't been able to kind of give my input on the follow-up from Commissioner Kyle's been like chomping at the bench. From this past weekend's podcast.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he needs to he needs to weigh in. Let's talk about this week's trades first.
SPEAKER_03So um the first one was Braden traded Garrett, or sorry, Jake traded Garrett Wilson for DJ Moore and um uh Booty. I think is it Kendra Booty? Oh no, Kayshawn Booty.
SPEAKER_01I'm sorry, and who was the other party in that trade?
SPEAKER_03Uh Braden Abbott. Got it. So I think that was it was an interesting trade. I think that was better for like if you're looking at a face value, I definitely think that is better for Braden. Um I'm not sure why Jake, you know, he's he's made a couple trades where he's building up. Inventory, I guess I would say, you know, trying to get more depth. But at the same time, that can be troublesome in this league too.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um. So you know, I but Garrett Wilson's hurt. Maybe he's thinking, hey, this the Jets offense has been bad, of course. I think with them getting um oh, who's their backup? Uh Tyrone or uh Tyron Taylor.
SPEAKER_01There we go. Tyron seriously. I'm trying to remember.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so he's gonna be starting over because Justin Fields is so bad. So that might imp once Garrett Wilson gets back off injury, maybe it's he actually is is you know much better. So for Braden, I think it's a smart move. Um I think if Jake maybe would have held on a little bit longer, but I don't know. So that was the one trade. These are all Braden's moves. Um Braden traded um here I gotta pull it up. Cameron Johnson and Bill Crosby Merritt to Miles and Miles in return sent over Rasheed Shahid, uh Kimani Videl, Tez Johnson, Kyle uh Minage, and $30 of Fab. Now a lot of those on Miles side, like Vidal, he's gonna go to backup status as soon as Amarian Hampton gets back, right? So this is just a temporary um starting running back. Tez Johnson, okay. He's maybe gonna obviously with with um That's a strong offense season. Yeah, and with Mike Evans being out now, maybe he gets a lot more. Chris Godwin returns, though. I don't know how much that's gonna eat into that. Uh I actually think the um Menange That one actually like he maybe could take over from I mean, even though Swift is playing great. But Swift tends to have some injuries, he's already starting to get beat up. Um you know that one actually probably does have some late season upside for um Braden. I'm not really sure what Miles is getting in return with this, to be honest with you. With 30 Fab, I just think it I just think it gave up.
SPEAKER_01It supports his chaos theory of the case, which is he's willing to make any deal right now.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and I thought he kind of already had. So if if you had your two primary players, what's the what what what's the Bill Crosby Merritt gonna do? Because right now it looks like that's kind of an open backfield right now, anyhow. Um so it's too bad I don't have him we don't have him on this week to hear that one because I would love to understand that one more than even the other one was pretty obvious what he was doing with Cody.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So so yeah, so that's the trade this week.
SPEAKER_01Okay. So So what's your what's your kind of general as commissioner? You you heard the pod last week, you were on uh at the at the Great Wolf Lodge.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_01Probably swimming in pissed.
SPEAKER_03But most a hundred percent.
SPEAKER_01Uh so I mean what's your what's your take on everything?
SPEAKER_03You know, so it's tough because uh obviously everybody is very competitive in this league. We devote a lot of time to it. Um over the years, I would say it's funny how when you get into a commissioner role, you kinda peel things back a little bit, maybe some of the emotional responses that you have to things. Um you know, the obviously the Miles trade with Cody was controversial, but actually I don't think too many people got, you know, kind of like roll your eyes and like, okay, you know. Unfortunately Miles gets I think, and he's done this kind of last year too, if he just kind of gets down too quick. And maybe if he just stayed a little bit longer, his team maybe is obviously starting to what his original team and what he thought it was gonna do might have been picking up and actually look like a great team now. Um, or a better team. Um with that being said, um I think we have to try, and obviously, like we had the Jake trade with with Saquon and um Marvin Harrison. And so I think a lot of the drama was uh in this uh in our league was around maybe the um self-reflection that maybe Miles needs to embark on in the criticism of Jake. Now, Jake does have a tendency to make some trades that even I would say do I think that maybe the winner in that trade was uh Cameron? Yes. But we have to sometimes try and pull our emotions out of it a little bit and understand that I know Jake has made some crazy trades like this before that I think at the time were crazy. Uh one in particular I remember is Tyree Kill that he traded to uh Braden. And for I think it was Joe Mixon and Jacoby Myers. And by the end of the year, Joe Mixon versus Jacoby Myers ended up producing a few more points total than Tyree Kill. So, you know, if we you know, we've purposely not had um anything in the bylaws, I think, from years past that have not had an oversight over trades.
SPEAKER_01Um I don't know it's a it's a slippery path for us to get down if we ever went down that path, but um you know, my take is is there's a there's an avenue for people to do that, you know, and and team owners can come in and if they want to propose rule changes, then obviously they're allowed to do that. You know, you guys can look at it. So I think, you know, maybe my take is I think trades make the league interesting. And and you know, it's some of these decisions, certainly not decisions I would make.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_01But uh, you know, it's one of those things people people have a certain theory of the case, uh, they have a strategy, and and either the strategy works or strategy doesn't.
SPEAKER_03Now I will say that I think you know I think Miles is actually very opposed to being some sort of a dynasty, but at the same time, I think his mentality is there at a dynasty, right? Already saying, hey, I don't like where this is going, I'm just gonna go ahead and start looking to build for next year. Well, if we we're going down that path, then we really do need to consider, in my opinion, uh either we really consider doing some sort of a you don't just do a transition right away to dynasty, maybe you increase your keepers every so you know so many years to give people time to kind of build that up and that thought mentality. It could open up a different dynamic, and I think this league is um informed enough to do some of those things. Um so yeah, so I think that's that's kind of my input on the trade side. Hopefully uh we get to calm down some of the rhetoric. Maybe we don't.
SPEAKER_01Well, I think it like I said, I think the trades keep the league interesting, and you know, I mean I think everyone's out there trying to win or or trying to execute some kind of strategy. Some kind of strategy, yeah. Yeah. So all right.
SPEAKER_03Um so yeah, and then uh something two other things I wanted to address real quick, the roster limits. So that was brought up by Quincy about how we had a couple people that were in violation or or one person in violation, I think of a roster limit.
SPEAKER_01Somebody had too many QBs or something like that.
SPEAKER_03So Sleeper actually does, and I have it set that there are roster limits, and it's set according to our um constitution. What I believe Sleeper does not do is they do not include IR in that piece. So if somebody had, say, two tight ends sitting in their IR spot and then two more sitting on the bench and on their actual starting roster, it still would qualify because those um positions are not counted in the IR slot. So, you know, it'd either be something that we would have to change in the constitution, which I would highly recommend not, because then that's more oversight that I have to do, and that'd be kind of a pain in the ass checking rosters constantly every day. Um, because that's why I really wasn't paying that close of attention because I th I pretty much thought sleeper managed that. But I kind of came to the conclusion it's it's actually from the IR slot, so that's kinda.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that's interesting. Yeah, it seems like that would be a lot of work to look at everyone's roster every week and make sure that they're not in violation of these uh and if it's someone on IR, it's not like you could play them anyway. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So um and then last but not least, Corbin. All the flack from the ditch stuff. Oh wait, so what happened with this? Well, so um, so of course I give I give uh Corbin a bunch of flack because I think anybody that uh I think personally any normal human being that is going to clean the ditch as part of a punishment would make sure to uh record the event with proof, such as a picture, saying, hey, look at the trash I picked up.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_03Um and so uh Corbin has been kind of trying to um, you know, uh establish that he he uh uh I think he made a point to say that uh all the stuff could be found online in regards to where to clean the ditch and what you're supposed to do, which come to find out actually you can't, which I told him you don't submit the stuff online, you actually have to submit it to the office directly, which I did not know because I didn't have the email that he had, which he should have already known that.
SPEAKER_01So I'm curious to see. Is it being alleged that Corbin did not clean the ditch?
SPEAKER_03I still highly question whether he did. And he maybe just didn't fill out the paperwork. Got it. Maybe he did, I don't know. Wouldn't you take pictures of the trash that you picked up? Um now the guys are correct. I have been cleaning part of the wrong ditch. I heard about that. Or at least the wrong section of the ditch.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so you've you've basically been cleaning like a random area of the wrong.
SPEAKER_03So basically, I've you know, the the it probably stretches like I don't know, I'd I'd have to go look at the the um the actual map, but it's maybe like between like a mile and like two miles, right? Oh that's way bigger than I thought of it. So I yeah, I don't think it's it's it but it's not like too too big, and I may be even overstating it there. Um but I've basically been cleaning from the ditch because I figured it was kind of more like halfway, right? So like half like you put the sign and then like it's like in the middle of the section, and then you would like clean one side and then the other side.
SPEAKER_01So it turns out the sign is at the beginning.
SPEAKER_03Exactly.
SPEAKER_01Uh huh. So you've been cleaning some areas that half of it because I clean not part of it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I I basically start at the warehouse and I clean past the sign by a good like I don't know, like maybe quarter of a mile or so. Got it. I need to go further. So I will make sure to go back, and I also need to go back and file the proper paperwork now. So it'll give me the opportunity. So this time I'll I'll probably end up cleaning the ditch four times before we and that goes to show you.
SPEAKER_01So if you're last place, fill Miles, make sure to take those pictures. Yep. Something to keep in mind for next year.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so that's all I got from this uh last podcast.
SPEAKER_01So we went through the um the results from last week. So how did we end up on the our picks?
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah, so the qu uh let's see here. I gotta find that from Ryan. Okay. So last week Okay, I have it here.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I found it. So um last week, Miles goes four and three. Quincy, three and four. Kyle, four and three. Uh Tim, four and three. Quarter, three and four. So uh results on the year. Uh quarter still way behind. Quarter is at twenty and twenty-nine. Ouch. Yeah. Okay. Uh next is uh Miles and Quincy tied for second to last, 30 and 19. Second place uh is Commissioner Kyle, 31 and 18, and still in first place is uh is myself. So I think uh I'm just again, I'm not sure that you guys actually watch football.
SPEAKER_03We really actually, I mean, I don't, you know, you've been doing it more uh, you know, this is only really my second maybe full season of of doing the podcast. Um this is probably the most, I think, kind of uh in line everybody's been. You know, you're only one or two games that were off from week to week. I think this is the best week the quarters had, probably. Yeah, in a while. Yeah. So uh yeah. Well, before we go into this week's picks, uh, do we want to do uh just a guy's power rankings? Uh Quincy was while he did not have the time to appear tonight.
SPEAKER_01And I think it's important everyone realize. Quincy's extremely important. Very important. He we are lucky to have every moment that we have with Quincy. In fact, it's a miracle he doesn't bill us for his time that he spent here. So um we feel honored that that he even sent these. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_03And he and he he I was I was very honored that he didn't even question it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's amazing. Um okay, so anyways, thank you, Quincy, for sending these.
SPEAKER_03Alright, so number 14. And I trying to go off of memory from last week. Yes, I listened to the podcast on the way home. Um so number 14 is Miles. I believe he moved down a team.
SPEAKER_01He wasn't in last place.
SPEAKER_03So Miles has moved into last place. Uh, my guess is just because of how poor the the team performance has been. Phil, number 13.
SPEAKER_01Still some multi film.
SPEAKER_03Just not catching that break. Yeah. Scott, number 12. Ryan is number 11. Okay. Um Braden is number 10. Now, this one I find to be starting to think this isn't the interesting. Corbin is at number nine. He's five and two.
SPEAKER_01Five and two at number nine.
SPEAKER_03He's basically guaranteed. He's in the playoffs. A playoff spot, yeah. Almost. So, like, in my opinion, he should at least be in the top seven, right? Because he's five and two.
SPEAKER_01At some point, you gotta give that some.
SPEAKER_03Or I guess top eight, right? Because we have eight playoff spots. So he should be at least right there at eight. Um number eight is Jake. Seems about right. Number seven is Owen. I think that's too low. Um six is Kyle. Um. Okay. Five is Quincy. Probably too low for Quincy. I think he probably should be edged up a little bit more. Uh, number three, or sorry, number four is Cameron. Okay. Number three is Kendall. Number two is Pete. And then of course number one is Cody.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, I think that uh, as we talked last week, it's really obvious who the top teams are. I think it's and it's obvious who the bottom teams are.
SPEAKER_03Yep.
SPEAKER_01So it really is just a matter of kind of figuring out the how these middle tiers hatch out. But I think that's uh that's about right. Thank you, Quitsy, for sending those in.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, thanks for sending them over. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So is it uh time for this week's picks?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, we'll go over this week's picks. Now this one might be a little cumbersome because I've got both of them still have to go to.
SPEAKER_01Honestly, we can just kind of roll through these because uh you've got used to what Commissioner Kyle is going to read Miles Quincy and his own. Yep. Then I'll give mine, and uh then we'll, you know, keep moving along.
SPEAKER_03So we'll start um off with my matchup and Maxwell. This one is easy. Um Maxwell is the pick for um Quincy and Miles both pick Maxwell. I'm going to pick Maxwell. I mean, I have every starting running back on by. I literally had to pick up Jeremy Nichols. Pick Nichols for my starting running back.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm I'm taking Maxwell's well. I'm sorry about your bias.
SPEAKER_03That's uh okay. Uh next up is Kindle and Laces Out. Um Let me see here. I believe I'm gonna go with Kindle and Quincy had Kindle and Miles has Miles has Scotty.
SPEAKER_01Hmm.
SPEAKER_03Did you pick him? Uh yeah, I picked Kendall. I still think um, even though I think he's he's got Trey McBride on by. Um Scotty's team just I mean, he does get Derrick Henry back. I forgot about that. Yeah, I'm I'm taking Scotty. Um Man, now that I see that. I actually think Scotty does get a bounce. I'm gonna change mine actually, because he's got Derrick Henry back. I will allow it. You get you gotta allow it because I got a little extra weight on my shoulders today. We'll allow it. Alright. Uh actually, you know what'll help me? You go you you go for the next one. Then you can pull them up.
SPEAKER_01Alright. So we got speaking of uh people who uh are absent right now, Quincy and Miles going up against each other, Comarty's kids, Team MAGA. Um, you know, who knows what Miles team is going to look like. Uh lots of uh some holes to fill still on uh on that team. I'm taking Quincy. I don't think that's a hard decision.
SPEAKER_03Uh so both of them picked the other. So Quincy is picking, yeah, Quincy's picking Miles, Miles is picking Quincy. Um I'm going with Quincy. I just um you know, even though Miles gets a Buka back, uh I think just Quincy is is uh just a better team and he gets Lamar Jackson back. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Alright, next matchup. Uh let's talk big data versus um Team Beamer. You know, in theory, you know, a 7-0 going against a 5-2, this could be a big heavyweight matchup. I don't think that it is uh much bad at all. Uh I'm taking Cody. Uh and but in a weird way, my my head says this is an easy decision. You know, when Cody loses this year, I think he will lose eventually. It'll be to a team like Team Beamer. No one will be able to explain it.
SPEAKER_03That's true. I I would totally agree with that. Um yeah, so both Miles and Quincy have Cody. It's a Cody as well. For me.
SPEAKER_01You know, this isn't the same without Quincy making inappropriate gestures with him.
SPEAKER_03Wait, I don't even know if he's done that this year, has he? He's been kind of slacking.
SPEAKER_01We've been a little off with the uh sound effects, so we'll we'll get back in the group. Um. So who do we have next? Well, it'll be interesting to see what um Beaver does about, you know, replacing. We big hole of Jameer Gibbs. Yeah. On this thing. Okay, uh, how about Pete? Uh Sapar versus Jake from State Park.
SPEAKER_03Uh, let's see here. Quincy has Jake or no, sorry. Quincy has so I'm just looking.
SPEAKER_01I I'm I have some serious questions about whether Brock Purdy plays this week. Uh, and of course, Stafford is on the body. That's not good for Jake from State Farm. Yep. Uh obviously CMC, uh, Bijan, I think I'm taking Pete on this matchup.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, this is gonna be another consensus quake. Uh everybody else has got Pete.
SPEAKER_01Feel the feel the motor.
SPEAKER_03Running the play.
SPEAKER_01Okay, hang on, I lost it. There we go. Okay, next, did we do Cameron versus Phil? No. Alright, how let's look at Cameron versus Phil. Uh we've got a two and uh one and six matchup, a three and four matchup. I think that uh Cameron's figuring out what he's gonna do QB wise. Has anyone heard kind of what his plan is there? JP knows how he's gonna have to go stream somebody.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I noticed that uh he hadn't picked anybody up, which I thought was interesting. I don't know who he's holding on to to try and obviously there's maybe somebody that he's trying to wait to the last minute to to dump to maybe have a chance to get back on the waiver. Um yeah, with the bye weeks and stuff that Cameron has. Um I think Phil's lucking out this week. I've got Phil, so do the other guys.
SPEAKER_01Wow. You know what? I think that this is a week. I know that Cameron's gonna figure out somebody to play a quarterback. You got Saquon versus the Giants. That guy's gonna play his mind out. He'll figure out his issues. Give me Cameron this week. Uh next matchup, we did uh his last one. Uh yeah, Braden versus uh Owen. Um I'm just looking at this. Uh obviously I am the only fan of Titty 7.0. Also thinking that this might not be the year. Sorry, Braden. Uh nonetheless, uh, you know what? I'm gonna ride with them. Give me Titty 7.0.
SPEAKER_03I hate to be like picking everything that they have picked. I think some of these matchups this week, well, because I there's a ton of buys this week. And some important buys. Um but everybody had Owen. Hmm. Boy, actually, I'm I think I'm gonna go with the even though, I mean, we don't know if Garrett Wilson's gonna come back on the chance that he does. I think Braden's team, you know, Vidal's gonna be, he's the blown back essentially over there on the Chargers, even though we're playing Minnesota. I'm going with Braden. Okay. All right. Well, the other two guys had on. Of course they did.
SPEAKER_01Uh so alright, those are the picks for this week. Um, so this is uh you put a note out into the chat, just kind of letting everyone know this is the ask the commissioner. This is the commissioner's corner.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, the commissioner's corner segment.
SPEAKER_01The commissioner's corner segment.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I thought about so I was trying to think of something to do that would be a little bit different um for me and you to do since the other two guys were here. And at first I thought we'd do like a call-in, which you know, like phone lines are open, but I was like, that's gonna be kind of complicated because who knows when somebody calls in and then trying to segment, you know, for you that's probably hard to manage. And so I thought, well, maybe we could just have people send in questions. I wanted to try and do it so that I did not see them beforehand.
SPEAKER_01So uh so I have some questions that people have sent in. So that's why I thought it was great. We're we've got to some of these, um, but we'll get to some of them. Some of them, you know, we won't, but thank you for for sending those in. I think that um first question, and and I'm not gonna say who they're from. Okay, I'm just gonna guess. Well, you can guess if you want. But the here the first one is um when you close your eyes, does your fantasy team still disappoint you?
SPEAKER_03Oh. Um, not at all. Like I've I have been, I mean, you know, I was tempted to make a trade with Miles when he was kind of fire selling stuff. Um, but just me personally, I've had some injuries and and Ken Walker's been frustrating, but I still actually like the way this team's put together. So I'm um I'm still happy to be rolling with it, you know.
SPEAKER_01Okay, yeah, that's good. Um what about um okay, so does Farmwell sell pineapple seeds? And when does the pineapple harvest typically occur?
SPEAKER_03Um, well, first off, I wish we sold pineapple seed. Um there's probably much better money in that. Pun intended, uh, for whoever asked that.
SPEAKER_01Um, so you're gonna get in the you're gonna look into it. You're gonna I don't know if uh the climate here is great for climate.
SPEAKER_03I don't think we, you know, maybe climate change would continue to get uh uh warmer, but uh I don't think anytime soon we're gonna be selling that unless we move.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Um so if you had to fight one duck the size of a horse, or one hundred horses the size of ducks, what would you pick and why?
SPEAKER_03Ooh. One duck the size of a horse or a hundred horses the size of a duck.
SPEAKER_01Yes, one giant duck or one hundred small horses.
SPEAKER_03That's tough too, because um you know you think like okay, a duck versus just even the type of of you know um that's interesting. Uh probably a hundred horses.
SPEAKER_00The size of ducks.
SPEAKER_03The size of ducks.
SPEAKER_00That's interesting.
SPEAKER_03Uh, because I figure you could at least, even though they'd probably be exceptionally fast, but you can at least kick 'em.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Maybe maybe give yourself a chance to get a little bit more.
SPEAKER_01So what's the worst thing a giant duck could do to you?
SPEAKER_03Oh god. Wing? Think about like a a a duck, like if you took the size, like relative as it expanded, those wings probably just one slap and it'd just kill you. Like the strength of those wings.
SPEAKER_01That's interesting.
SPEAKER_03You know? Um, and that beak, man, that's a big beak.
SPEAKER_01So what is your biggest regret as commissioner? Is it becoming commissioner? Um that was that I added the question at the end.
SPEAKER_03Oh boy. Biggest regret is commissioner. Um man, that's tough. I mean, you know, I think it's an important role that everyone should have, maybe an opportunity if they want to try it. It's definitely not for the lighthearted. Um my predecessors before me have made it easier, uh, because we have been better about you know the constitution and rule following. This year, uh, you know, we may have to find some ways to bring things together. Um my biggest regret is not having a s harsher punishment for the last place. I wish we had something better than just cleaning a ditch. Like, not that cleaning a ditch isn't important and fun, but making it more of a spectacle in a way.
SPEAKER_01That's fair. That's a good point.
SPEAKER_03Or encur maybe my my regret is not encouraging it. That and not um studying Robert's rule of order.
SPEAKER_01Uh seeing the recent trade with Miles and Braden, are we going to have to listen to how and why for the next three weeks for Miles again?
SPEAKER_03Well, luckily for them, uh they get to skip a week. Yeah, so one of those weeks isn't happening. Um I'd say we will probably if you know um he recovers, we'll um we'll keep him to like a one-minute explanation or something.
SPEAKER_01Okay, yeah. I think maybe we'll put it back on the clock. We did that last season. I thought it went well.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so we might have to do that.
SPEAKER_01So that's all the questions I got in. Uh is there anything else you wanted to add? You got any questions for me? No, uh, you know, I think that uh um I think we had a pretty good pod this week. You know, I think that uh exciting time uh in football. I think that uh some of the good teams are really starting to emerge. Um and uh, you know, with the Lions on by, they're excited about the Colts. I don't think the people are talking about the Colts enough.
SPEAKER_03Oh God, they they looked so good against the Chargers. It's just it's not even so much just the how well they're just they just all look like they're on the same page.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um do you like the Lions? I can't maybe I asked you that last year.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I do. I mean the I've been pretty uh transparent about the Lions is that one, uh you know, I I support all the Detroit teams, but we were never big. My my dad was a uh college football fan. Yeah. And when I was a kid, the Lions didn't play in Detroit, they played in Pontiac. So we never really had the chance to go, which is sorry, Pontiac is like an hour north of Detroit. Oh, okay. And so we never went to games. It may as well have been in they may as well have played in Minnesota. Yeah, you know, and uh so we never made it up there. So we just we didn't we weren't huge Lions fans when I was a kid. And and also remember, Lions weren't good my whole life up until these last couple years, they you know, they had Barry Sanders and only had like one playoff win my whole life, up until the last couple years. So um it was really hard to um but on the other hand, one of the things I I just appreciate and and I guess most of the guys uh you know in the league still mostly live at home. But uh and and maybe I guess maybe it is relatable, but you know, it when your teams are good, it gives you a reason to connect with the guys back home. For sure. And uh I I I really, really do appreciate that, whether it's the um the lions or the the tigers, um, you know, when when your buddies back home are are doing the same thing you're doing. And uh, you know, so you can text back and forth during the game and things like that. I think that's the type of um intangibles, so to speak, that you get when when your teams are good, because when the lions suck, nobody's watching them. Uh and they're fun to watch. Uh and so we've really enjoyed it.
SPEAKER_03That's like an interesting thing in Indiana a little bit, especially like from like where we're from. Like I think most of the guys are Colts fans in in the league, but there's a lot of people that I know in Carroll County where like they grew up as Bears fans because a lot of their mom, you know, their parents didn't have to have the Colts.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So it's kind of an uh interesting dynamic sometimes I find with that.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, and in Indiana, there's not clear I mean, alright, in in in uh basketball, you know, there's the Colts. But like for instance, baseball, you know, there's such a um a uh you know, divided state in terms of who's fans of who things like that. Yeah. Um you know, so I it's I'm excited about the Lions this year. They look really good. I think they're getting guys back as opposed to in knock them wood. I mean, last year by this time we were starting to lose people.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And we have started to lose some guys, but this year we're getting guys back. You know, we saw that this week with uh Alem McNeil uh getting another defensive end to uh help Aiden Hutchinson. Um you know, some of the starting secondary guys are coming back. Uh although the way that the the bench guys played against the Bucs, um maybe maybe they don't need to come back. Yeah. But uh it's an exciting year.
SPEAKER_03We're excited. I don't know what it is, but I love when they do the uniform that they had last week. I know you're not a fan of it, I don't think.
SPEAKER_01You know, as a I'm a when it comes to uniforms, I am a traditionalist. You're a traditionalist. Yes. And and uh it which isn't to say people look at the Lions and be like, well, they don't have a traditional uniform. They do. They they do have a traditional uniform. They're the one of the only teams in sports that have blue and silver. Uh and it's a great color combination. And uh I think they look great when they wear their normal uniforms. The the the um the black ones look cool, uh, but they're just not for me.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Well, uh, thanks for joining me, Tim. I'll leave uh the league with one little bit. Okay, this is from uh the goat, Socrates.
SPEAKER_01Is this from the goat, Socrates?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, true knowledge exists in knowing that you know nothing. Oh, that's nice. Yeah. Bye.
