The boys are back in studio after a week off (thanks Kyle) for this special round 2 of the playoffs podcast. Join Producer Tim, Commissioner Kyle, Mouthpiece Miles and JAG Quincy as they breakdown how everything stands in the playoffs and the Toilet Bowl bracket. We're down to the Final Four and the championship is so close these owners can taste it!
Welcome, welcome, welcome. Playoffs are in the air. We are finished with round one of the CCPL playoffs, and we are here to talk about it. We are live in studio producer Tim, Commissioner Kyle, Mouthpiece Miles, and yours truly Quincy. How are we doing, guys? The final four. Playoffs.
SPEAKER_02Talking about playoffs? I mean, we weren't able to have a podcast last week to talk about all of the folks who were in the playoffs and all their success. Why didn't we?
SPEAKER_00So they missed out of podcast last week. We just couldn't do it. Was it me? Yeah. I know it wasn't all my fault. It was a lot of your fault. Very much. Okay, I'll take I'll take the blame for that one. Um Quincy, you made the playoffs?
SPEAKER_02I did. You lost last week.
SPEAKER_01I did. Wasn't close.
SPEAKER_02But uh I was just glad to be there. You know, that's what I told the boys. Your team really trailed off at the end of the season. Yeah. Could you have done anything differently?
SPEAKER_01No. I mean, we dealt with injuries. Guys just weren't. I mean, Lamar Jackson, that really killed me. Brock Bowers, that offense, the Raiders, horrible. So just out of your control.
SPEAKER_04People expected so much out of Brock Bowers this year. And he just hasn't delivered. Well, the Raiders.
SPEAKER_00I mean, just you haven't ran through the scenario that if you had played Diggs, you'd played Evans over Diggs. And I still could still couldn't reach it. Over Neil?
SPEAKER_01Still wouldn't have gotten there. Still wouldn't have got there. I would have needed Bowers to get out of here.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, because you're 40 points. I was thinking almost 20. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I would have needed Bowers to put up more than five points and Lamar to put up more than 14. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I would say overall though, like this is a good final four. Cody, Kendall, Abbott, Pete.
SPEAKER_04Well, do you want to go over to those matchups of how we got there?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I mean, it's it's the optimal. Like, these are the best four teams in the league, I would say.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Let's go through them. Um let's rewind to last week. So the teams who made the playoffs, Cody obviously was the one seed versus Jake snuck in as the eight seed. He beat, um, he won his rivalry matchup, finished with seven wins on the season. Cameron lost his rivalry matchup, finished with six wins on the season. This goes to my old question of would you rather miss the playoffs and have a chance to win the toilet bowl or make the playoffs and like get defeated in the first round? And Jake knew going into this, like he had a two percent chance of winning this matchup. What would you have rather been for like if you're Jake, would you rather have lost and and like be in the constellation bracket and try to make the toilet bowl and have a top one, two, three pick?
SPEAKER_01It's the one unique scenario where winning is unlikely. Any uh any other scenario where you ask that a qu that question, it's always yes, I want to be in the playoffs because you never know what can happen.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. But don't you think yeah, Cameron didn't make the playoffs, and like I ultimately, I guess it's whatever for his like all-time record. But if you're him, you're probably like, I'm actually fine not making the playoffs because I would have lost to Cody no matter what. I would have been the eighth seed, and now I got a chance to have a top three pick when I had the first overall pick last year.
SPEAKER_00Well, maybe. I mean, that's that's depending on what his makeup is. I think it's a loser's mentality here. You no, I have always said, because here's a prime example, right? Um, you always want to make playoffs because you never know. Like you could have just said, like, I don't want to make playoffs because I'm gonna get be against Quincy, or I mean be again, Quincy, be against Cody.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, in a normal year, yes, you're like, I have a punter's chance no matter what.
SPEAKER_00You always have a punter's chance.
SPEAKER_02Not in that matchup, though.
SPEAKER_00Maybe.
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_00Like if it had been Kendall, like right, working into that swing slot. But it was I'm saying the eighth seed. We've had teams like that.
SPEAKER_02So if you're Cameron, do you throw your rivalry matchup so you don't make the Okay, no, think of this scenario.
SPEAKER_00Who was who was the uh was Zach the number seven? Yeah. Zach could have be potentially had he played the right quarterback, he could have Cody. Yeah. Also he could have won his matchup too. But well, maybe. Oh, yeah, that's right. And actually, he would have yeah, he would have, because Cody also would have lost. I I don't think he would have had.
SPEAKER_02I see what you're saying, but that's not what the matchup was gonna be. Jake knew if Jake and Cameron both knew if I win, I'm going as the eighth seed, no matter what.
SPEAKER_04So I think I'd rather I think you just want to be in the playoffs. No, you want to be the team that's that's playing important games late in the season.
SPEAKER_02Plus, you know, you gotta remember. But in reality, Cameron is playing in more important games at the end of the season than Jake is. Jake is done. Cameron's still playing for another two weeks. True.
SPEAKER_04I would be interested to see, like, and and this is more of a someone should do a regression analysis on this. Let's get let's get Cody on.
SPEAKER_02Cody hasn't looked up a single fucking stat this year. Okay. We keep asking last week when I got something wrong, which is great.
SPEAKER_04I'd be interested to see, like, what is the net benefit of having a top three pick? That's a serious question. Wouldn't I mean yeah, I I would say I don't think it's I would say it's negligible.
SPEAKER_00Well, but but you gotta remember it's not that he's getting the top pick, it's that he gets to choose. So that like it's for instance, um And it takes years to figure that out because a lot of times with that early pick the year that the year that uh Maxwell won, he set himself up so that uh with Jefferson, with Jefferson, and then where his pick was and Kyron Williams or whatever, that it was just like he was able to he he was debating he could have potentially picked at the back half of the draft, been like in the 14 slot, yeah, which really is the number one slot on the snake. Yeah. So like like in the case.
SPEAKER_02But with can't you don't know until years later. Like Cameron picked Genty. You'd assume he maybe hangs on to him in the future. The Bichon year, like that's obviously worked out with Pete trading for that pick. So yeah.
SPEAKER_01So Cody just dominates Jake 141 to 75. That's without score adjusted for um home field advantage, which was 14 points. Yep, 14 points. Wow.
SPEAKER_00Wait, is that with score or without score? His current score is with the adjustment. Oh, it is the 141 is okay. I already did the adjustments good job, Commissioner. Thank you. Did those on Monday or no Tuesday morning.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, for Jake, I mean, he just got nothing out of anybody. Brock Purdy had 26, but nobody else on his entire roster scored double digit points other than uh his kicker Aubrey.
SPEAKER_00Which also for those wanting to know, I don't remember if we talked about last time or not, but um I can't adjust scores per pre-matchups. I have to wait until they are complete, they are complete. So if anybody is like, hey, it'd be nice, um, just can't do it.
SPEAKER_01So but but Cody doesn't get out of this completely unscathed. Devontae Adams is unlikely to play on Thursday night football against Seattle. Patrick Mahomes loses Patrick Mahomes, R for the R.I.P. Mahomes.
SPEAKER_04And so, I mean, we'll talk about these matchups later, but what what's he gonna do? Who's the he's made some moves already?
SPEAKER_02He has made some moves. He saved a ton of fab throughout the season, and so he was able to spend whatever he wanted this week to try to I've rolled my fab over into a money market account. Great, great. You know, Kendall had a good point. Um, it's like uh Matt Painter with timeouts. He he doesn't use them and they grow interest, and you get more timeouts at the end of the season. Is how it works. So in tight games, he refuses to call timeouts.
SPEAKER_01Um you know, none of these matchups were particularly close other than Pete's. Um Corbin gets beat by Kendall 140 to 94. Wow. Kendall. This team's hot at the right time.
SPEAKER_02Takes down the buzzsaw last week. Drizzy May playing hot. Um Puka Nakua 23. Trey McBride, 31. We have not talked about Trey McBride enough. Just a monster season. On the season, I mean, he would be the wide receiver, what, like eight on the year, four on the year? Wow, something crazy. I mean, since Jacoby Brissett took over, he's been a machine.
SPEAKER_00Since uh since week six, he's never put up less than twelve points except for one week he did eight. Everything else, 17, 24, 14, 23, 22, 12, 18, out of a tight end 31.
SPEAKER_02And it's such positional value. I mean we've talked about in the past. Trevion Henderson, huge touchdowns, 29 points.
SPEAKER_04Um what was the home field in this one?
SPEAKER_02It was uh Corbin got two points because he had one more win on the side. He was a negligible then. Yeah, yeah. So on uh Beamer's side, we thought Buzz saw Beamer, but Gibbs only had uh less than eight points. Um RJ Harvey, I think, got dinged up. He only had 10. Um uh Jamison Williams had 23.
SPEAKER_04He's opening up a little bit while while the Lions are closing up, but there was nothing Beamer could have done to win this one.
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_00I thought it was interesting he went with Wright over Addison or Troy Franklin. Troy Franklin, yeah. What was the what was A-chan out? I didn't think Han was out.
SPEAKER_02Well, it was a Monday night game. You didn't know. If he read the news enough, he probably would have known. Like it, yeah. He was just like hoping that luckily it didn't matter. Um, Drake May for Kendall, really good too. QB3 on the season.
SPEAKER_01So you can feel it. I mean, whenever any of us are in this position in the playoff, you start to tense up. You want everyone wants this so badly. Yeah, but I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt, no one wants this more than Kendall Ross. Is he okay?
SPEAKER_04Like he gets like he he must be tinkering like crazy.
SPEAKER_02Is he tinkering? This is his best team of all time.
SPEAKER_01I do feel a a new level of confidence out of Kendall right now that we haven't seen before.
SPEAKER_00I agree. I I got a little swagger. I saw him today. He was in the office briefly. Is he confident? I tell you, he's doing something that just seems steady.
SPEAKER_02I do remember this was three or four years ago. He was in this round, second round, and he made a tweak to where if he would have started one player, he would have won. He started a different player, he didn't win, and he would have ended up winning the championship because you look at his points the next the next week. Um, yeah, and he just tinkered too much.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he felt very much like next one up.
SPEAKER_02But what you're saying now is he he doesn't he doesn't feel he doesn't have his focus, he's got a basketball team that's three and oh too.
SPEAKER_00He's just he's locked in.
SPEAKER_02Basketball team.
SPEAKER_00He doesn't his why team is yeah, yeah, with him and Pete, they're three and oh right now.
SPEAKER_01I mean he doesn't the good news is with this with this current roster, there's not a lot of tweaking to do other than the question around Woody Marks versus uh Jalen Warren. Like that's that's the only question.
SPEAKER_02And if Marks is gonna be hurt that week this week, um that'll help us. Yeah, because the rest of his team, you know, Pursaw has just been weird this year. Like so hurt, never done anything. Um yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yep. My matchup, uh Braden wins 123 to 88. Still not convinced this is the year, but I mean, three touchdowns out of ETN.
SPEAKER_02I do want to say, hats off to Braden. This is the seventh year in a row he has made the playoffs. He has never missed the playoffs in our league. Really? Yes. I think I think that's true. He's made it every year. And other than one year, that one year he just fluky caught good matchups. Every other year he's had a good team. Yeah. Like if you were to say who are the top five teams this year, he's had basically a top five team every single season, but one. And he was two and five going into week eight. Yeah. And but he's never won a championship, which is crazy. Being, I mean, six years now, this will be the seventh year. If he doesn't win it this year, he's made the playoffs seven years in a row. And I don't even think he's made a championship game, has he?
SPEAKER_01I don't think so.
SPEAKER_02No. I mean, that's crazy too. He's won eight in a row right now.
SPEAKER_01Um anything you could, you couldn't have done anything you could. Couldn't have done anything differently. No. Um I walked away from this. I wasn't I mean, he got 30 points out of ETN.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. That's that's tough to come back from. Wandale Robinson for him is the wide receiver 16 on the season. He drafted him in the 15th round. Like he has plug and played him several weeks this year. And like there have been weeks where he's been bad, but there have been weeks when he's like popped off.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I I I just had so much disappointment. Like T Mac fell off the past few weeks, no real volume. Diggs was so inconsistent. We talked about Bowers, we talked about Lamar. This roster could have made a little bit of a run. The just timing was really, really poor.
SPEAKER_02So all right. Um, last matchup, the uh two versus the seven seed. Zach Owen looked like he was gonna walk away with this thing after Kyle Pitts put up 40 points. That is the best game by a tight end of all time in fantasy. Wow. I saw that all time. I thought I saw that on Twitter. I don't think so. I saw it on Twitter. I'll try to find the tweet. That's oh wait, wait, wait. Um what I saw was there was Antonio Gates put up like 39 this was like nine, ten years ago.
SPEAKER_00Oh shoot. I even But this is the best game for the game. Somebody else were talking about this, and I was like, it's uh I think it was maybe it was me and Kindle. I don't remember who that was. It was like yeah, the the c oh yeah, I think it was me and Kindle.
SPEAKER_01I think the closest, oh man, who is that Kellen Winslow, and this is PPR. Well we gotta do that. So I'd have to adjust it. But Kellen Winslow, 57 in 1981.
SPEAKER_0257 in 1981. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_00No, I'm talking about fantasy like in the 2000s. Oh no, I know who it is. Darren Warren was the closest to him. He put up like 40 points. Darren Waller. Or Darren Waller, sorry. Um Darren Warren. Um he put up like 40 or like 39 or like like he was close. Yeah. Um well, so this was 11 receptions.
SPEAKER_0211 receptions, 166 yards, three touchdowns.
SPEAKER_04So you're Owen, Thursday night football.
SPEAKER_02He's thinking I mean, I you're walking away with this.
SPEAKER_04And and your tight end puts up 40 points in meanwhile got a total of eight point seven points out of Joe Burrow and Judkins. He's a killer. Yeah. I mean, that I mean that's just a that's a bad beat right there. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So he he he would he have beat, I didn't look at it.
SPEAKER_01He would have beat Pete if he started Jared Goff. I mean, after Thursday night, he was probably measuring the drapes. I mean, hanging the quarterfinal champ banner.
SPEAKER_02Well, and the thing is the Bengals had everything to play for. Like this was basically a playoff game against Baltimore's defense, which has not been great this year. So it's not like he made the bad pick. I mean, Goff was going against the Rams defense, which has been good. Yeah. Um, but Pete, I mean, on Pete's side, I I I will say off for Kyle Pitts, somebody I think I saw a tweet where like 80% he scored 80% of his total points on the season or something in one week. Um yeah, that's a tough because it's like I mean Pete scores 141 with his uh four points of of home field advantage. Bichon has 25. I mean, just everybody for him did really, really solid. Goddard had 22, Zay Flowers had 14, Olave 17, Stafford 21, McCaffrey 15.
SPEAKER_04It would be interesting to look into like all of the teams on sleeper of the teams that had Kyle Pitts, what 95% of them would have won their match on.
SPEAKER_02I mean, it's gotta be like 98%. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I mean, and I mean that's just uh that's tough. Jacoby Myers has been such a better player with Jacksonville than he was than he was uh uh with the Raiders, just product of the offense. But so those are the those are the round one results for uh the playoffs. Um quickly in the constellation bracket, we had um Cameron on by and the commissioner on by based on their great successes in the regular season. Um Miles, you get beat by Maxwell, 113 to 94. Yep. It was closer than what it looked like it was for sure.
SPEAKER_02I mean, 94's respectable. That's one of your weeks. I mean, I will say um the fantasy gods uh obviously didn't agree with what I did, so they punished me. I won two games this year. I will be cleaning the ditch. We discussed this. The ditch cleaning doesn't technically start until the new league year. To the new league year. So until July 4th, I don't have to clean the ditch. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Which allows us to pass additional um punishment league members before the new season for the loser.
SPEAKER_02We start it on that season. I know, but we can't retroactively say, oh, for the the loser last year, you're gonna have to do this now.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you can. No, uh no, because we're basing his punishment off of the results of the 25th season. So you you can't, it would be for the 26th punishment season.
SPEAKER_00Uh you can always there's there's nothing that says you can't.
SPEAKER_04That would be an ex post facto law.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, the rules, yeah. Tim is a constitutional scholar. That's true.
SPEAKER_04I was a political theory.
SPEAKER_02He's the league parliamentarian. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04What you would say is you can pass new punishments, but you should pass them not knowing who would be subject to the punishments. So it would be dubious to say, oh, we know Miles who deserves more punishment.
SPEAKER_05Yes.
SPEAKER_04Since we know Miles will be subject to those, then we're going to pass more punishment, is I would say, problematic from a constitutional perspective.
SPEAKER_02Kyle, don't bring problems to the league. I think I'm glad Tim is here for the reason.
SPEAKER_04Now, uh, I think that Miles deserves more punishment. And I think here's here's what I would say to the league. So you're gonna start July 1, July 4th? July 4th. I mean, so that's in what seven months. Okay, so you could get a lot of garbage going in seven months.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so let me ask this.
SPEAKER_04You can dump it all in the ditch.
SPEAKER_00Do you think it would constitutionally be unfair to change it so that there was a mandated and set date ahead of time, still only two dates, as he was required before, but so that that way it allows other members to make sure that they're present and just to maybe be able to either participate.
SPEAKER_04Oh, so you want to know the days he's gonna clean the ditch.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, do I think is that unfair punishment to add that in? You have to set a date for it?
SPEAKER_04That's less of a thing, but I would say no, that you cannot, because this is the punishment for the 2025 league year. And you can in and that is the and it'll be carried out according to the schedule that's been established.
SPEAKER_02When people ask, why do you have a political theory major as your as your production?
SPEAKER_04And so you can you can pass new laws and those would apply under the next league year rules. So that your league essentially re-establishes itself each year.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so but we always do a we pass the rules before the league has started that next year. Yeah, but therefore the new season July 4th. I n uh yeah, I I understand. But the punishment is during the next season, right? Yeah. As a result of the prior season. Yeah. Okay. I I'm I'm not I'm not disagreeing. I'm just gonna be able to do that. I think that I think that this will give everyone.
SPEAKER_02What do you you're really getting up against the Constitution here?
SPEAKER_04I think I'm just hey man, I'm just saying that uh I'm just saying you got some you got some garbage at home. You know, start saving it. The real stinky stuff, the gross stuff. You guys you there's a lot of uh We're just dumping diapers. He's got some diapers up here.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna put I'll put cameras up too, and I'll I'll put cameras out there so that when Corbin you know goes by and throws his old sex toys out and shit like that. You know, you've been you you got some cigarettes, throw them in the ditch. I'll have his uh I'll have his face on the front page of the comment.
SPEAKER_01Let's touch on the final matchup of the constellation bracket. This one was incredibly close. Uh came down to Monday Night Football. Scotty's team laces out, beats fillin' holes 90.67 to 90.43.
SPEAKER_02I mean, this just what's their home field?
SPEAKER_00Another one in this another one. Trevor Lawrence putting up 44 points. That is fucking the Jack Easy.
SPEAKER_04The Jackets look legit.
SPEAKER_02That is crazy. But for Phil, this just kind of tops off like a a really bad season. Like on the season, he had okay points for. And he only win three games. So uh moving on the consolation bracket, um Kyle will play Maxwell and uh Cameron will play Scotty. Are you trying to get the number one this year?
SPEAKER_00Uh or the pick? Of course. I mean, I'm always playing for it. I was in the final last year. It might be me and Cameron again this year battling it out. Were you in the playoffs in a row?
SPEAKER_01Are we in the playoffs three years ago? Like the real playoffs? I think it was three years ago.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Can I just ask a question for this group? So everyone's still playing. Uh Miles is playing Phil for 13th place. We don't recognize that as taking last place in the week. Got it. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Alright.
SPEAKER_02Um that's really interesting.
SPEAKER_01And something to clarify, we were talking about this on the driveover, I think most people are aware of the structure we have for draft uh pick positions. But the way it works is in the winner's bracket, when you get knocked out in a round, your your cohorts that are also knocked out in that round, if I score 90 points and I don't know, Owen scores 120 points, I get the higher pick because I underperformed in the winner's bracket. In the consolation bracket, the team that overperforms when they get knocked out in that round gets the better pick. Have we always done it yet?
SPEAKER_02We've got um well we can move on to this week. I will say there were a lot of money. There was a lot of money spent this week on uh on the waiver wire.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so who did um Cody saved up all of his lunch money?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Who did he pick up? For 58, he picks up CJ Stroud. Kendall, knowing that he was gonna try to do that, put down 20, but didn't win him. Um Cody also got Michael Carter. So now that Bam Knight is out for the Cardinals, it looks like Michael Carter's probably probably get this being the starter for the Cardinals. How did he only go for 11 bucks? And then on top of that, no one else bid other than Cameron for zero. I was gonna put my two bucks on him, but then I was like, people are just gonna get pissed at me if if I actually win this, like when my team doesn't matter.
SPEAKER_01I'm saving all mine for the championship week when I just start grabbing players to mess with the two teams.
SPEAKER_02Well, but if I'm if I'm um if I'm Kendall, like Kendall spent eight to get Bryce Young, like why didn't he put down a bit on Carter? Yeah, I thought that was interesting. To try to block him from Cody.
SPEAKER_00Or or just go ahead and put all your money on Carter. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um Cody also gets uh Kobe Colby Parkinson for three. Um yeah, but that's about it. This week's matchups, the final four.
SPEAKER_01Let's start with Braden and Pete.
SPEAKER_02Let's really just go through this. You know, we got we only got two matchups to talk about the two versus the three. So when you look at it right now, and I I I will share some inside baseball, Braden is unsure who he's gonna play and who he's not gonna play this week. So Rasheed Rice came down with a concussion protocol today, on top of Mahomes being out for the year. So you'd think that gives Rasheed uh either. Who's gonna start in Kansas City?
SPEAKER_01Um Minchu, isn't it? Okay, yeah, I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Not the worst guy. But also, will Rasheed even play? Because if you get into There's no way he plays. If he just got put into protocols, it's so hard to get out of it. So um it does look like he's gonna play Rasheed Shahid with those return yards. Shahid's actually been pretty good. Um, the problem is ETN plays Denver. So does Brian Thomas. Denver's D is very good. Sertan, you would think, is gonna lock up Thomas. Josh Allen has to play Cleveland, another really hard defense. On the road. On the road. Who knows what the weather will be like? Um even Wandale Robinson goes against Minnesota, like not a bad defense. I will say the only good thing for him is Jake Ferguson is probably going to do better this week if CD Lamb doesn't play. Kyle, do you know if CD's gonna play? I don't see why he wouldn't. Didn't he get dunked up in the last game?
SPEAKER_00I don't think so.
SPEAKER_01He was out played for illness, but he'll play.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he was he was out of concussion protocol. He played last week.
SPEAKER_02Okay. On um on Braden's bench, he's got Vidal, Manongai, A.D. Mitchell. Like, does he slot one of those guys in there?
SPEAKER_00AD Mitchell. What how can he go like he's nothing for the Colts and then over the dead just because they don't have they don't have anyone to throw the ball to.
SPEAKER_02You can see he had talent. Yeah. If you feed him.
SPEAKER_01Um well and the thing too for Brayden is he's gonna have to make some decisions. I mean, Rasheed's not gonna play. Because Rasheed Shahid plays Thursday for night. So if he's in the mix for being rotated out, I don't think he's gonna be.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so he it would be like a complete flyer to say risk it like putting not doing him and doing like Mitchell.
SPEAKER_02Like last week he had almost six points from your return yards. The week before he had like seven points from return yards.
SPEAKER_00The floor is probably decent enough for you to justify it.
SPEAKER_02So I think Braden's got a tough, tough hill to climb here. Moving over to Pete. Looks like he's gonna start Stafford. Obviously, Bijan, Olave. Dude, Olave since Shahid has been traded has been pretty good. He's had a good year. Um Zay Flowers, not a good year, but like he's done well the last couple weeks. Um, Goddard, McCaffrey, Jacoby Myers. I mean, I think I think Pete wins this pretty easily. Braden's got hard, fucking tough matchups, and on top of that, arguably his best player is not going to play. His best skill player is not gonna play.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and for him to look, Rice helped him go on this massive eight-game win streak. But the guy who sat out for the first six weeks is now not gonna play in the playoffs. Like, that's a tough year. Yeah. For a for an integral piece of your starting lineup.
SPEAKER_02And he spent a what, a third round pick on him? Fourth round pick. And now moving into next year, like you would think, hey, I'm getting Rashi a little bit later than he probably normally goes, but now with Mahomes getting hurt, you know, Mahomes might be out the first month of the season next year, so that hurts Rice and his flex keeper value.
SPEAKER_00I tell you, I I definitely think Pete's favorable in this. But I could see a very real scenario where the both of them, like I could see this kind of being a low-scoring game. Like, like that they're under their projection.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00Um, I whether Colts can actually do it two weeks in a row, but they held Seahawks running attack to like 50 yards last week. I know McCaffrey's different, but I'm just saying they're at indie.
SPEAKER_02If you look at projections, Pete's 110 to Titty's 95. I think Stafford could have it.
SPEAKER_00And that's not 95 is not good. Stafford could have an off day uh at Seahawks. Okay.
SPEAKER_01I like I like that Pete has his key players in domes this week. Yeah. Yeah. Bijan, McCaffrey. Like that's a that's a big deal. So you guys, you have Pete, and you have who? I'm taking Pete.
SPEAKER_02I'm still taking Pete.
SPEAKER_04Okay. This is a big week for the team at Titty 7.0. We've been working really hard, you know, and they've been they've been really performing. They've gone on a win streak. Yeah. This is an important week. This is a must-win game.
SPEAKER_03Okay. It's the playoffs.
SPEAKER_04Titty 7.0. And I'm really proud of what the guys have been able to pull together.
SPEAKER_02As the only fan.
SPEAKER_04As the only fan. Gimme Braden.
SPEAKER_02Wow. Who saw that coming? Is Maxwell still keeping track of our picks at all?
SPEAKER_00No, we didn't even review him from last week.
SPEAKER_02He needs to go back through the last like four podcasts and catch back up of where we're. I think he's angry at us for some reason. Guys, if we can sit here and waste three hours of a Wednesday, Thursday night, then these guys can do a little research for us.
SPEAKER_04I just envision um Cody sitting at home and he's got like a list of all the things we've asked him to do. And he's just gonna do it on his own time.
SPEAKER_01I did think, shout out to Braden. Uh his little video from Sunday night was very funny.
SPEAKER_02I didn't even watch it.
SPEAKER_01You didn't? It's great. It's a it's a good little video. It's not bad. It's not bad. Yeah. It uh had me laughing.
SPEAKER_02Quincy was like, I do remember you being like, it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Braden, just Braden, just remember. It was nice that you guys met up in the first round. I would say, do we think maybe about switching the rivalry matchups? Like, I think some rivalries have sort of changed. Like you and Maxwell used to be a big rivalry because you called him your B team. That's kind of gone by the wayside. Now it's like you and Braden. Yeah. With me, it's like, I don't know. I don't know. It's you versus the league. Yeah, it's everybody versus everybody. It's gonna be your score versus the aggregate score of the league. For Kindle, depending on what happens this week, for Kindle, maybe he's the biggest rival to Cody now. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Maybe. Yeah, but there's got to be some animus or something or like some backstory. And if that if that's building, then sure.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01We're just throwing out ideas. Okay. Cody versus Kindle. This is uh matchup of the big one. The century of the season, I would say.
SPEAKER_02Projected Clash of the Titans. Kindle is projected 113. Big data right now is projected 110. Wow. Kindle projected more.
SPEAKER_00Now, technically it'd be 116 to 113.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So in the second round, you get uh your home field advantage is cut to one point per win you have over your opponent.
SPEAKER_01Can I just ask real quickly, are we still we still like the home field advantage rule?
SPEAKER_02Um I'm open to ideas.
SPEAKER_01I'm not saying anything needs to change. I I'm just curious.
SPEAKER_00I did see um it's never really been a huge deal except for this year when a team is 14-0.
SPEAKER_02Thanks, Miles. It's only ever determined one matchup. Up to now.
SPEAKER_00And I think it's had some justification. So I I'm still supportive of it. It'd be, you know.
SPEAKER_02I did hear so there's one league that you start with your average points scored in in the playoffs. So you start like if you averaged if you averaged 105 points for the season, you start at 105. And if your opponent averaged 97 points for the season, they start at 97. Then your guys do whatever build on top of that. Yeah. Then your guys do whatever they do. So it's so that's the whole view.
SPEAKER_00So basically you get the median plus whatever your week is.
SPEAKER_02You get the means, the average of your season plus your week. Oh. I just heard a guy talking about it, and I thought it was an interesting take. And it was one of those things where he's like, oh, we just I see this shit all the time where they're like, oh, we just implemented this, or we're thinking about implementing it. I'm like, fucking CCPL's had this for a decade. What are you what are you idiots doing? Like so. Um all right, let's walk through it. For Kendall, Drake May.
SPEAKER_01Uh Chase Brown had a pretty decent end of the year. I'm just telling you, I think that Sunday night football game, Baltimore, New England, is going to be a high-scoring affair. I think it's gonna be a shootout. Yeah. Um Puka plays Seattle. George Pickens is Puka might be the only receiver. I mean, Devontae's not gonna play.
SPEAKER_02George Pickens uh plays the Chargers. Trey McBride plays Atlanta. Henderson plays Baltimore. Woody Marks looks hurt, plays Vegas. Um maybe he plays Jalen Warren, who plays Detroit.
SPEAKER_00Is there some gameanship right now with Carter being in and he still has four other players for Cody?
SPEAKER_02For Cody. Um I think it depends if if Drake London is right now, he's got Drake London out, so he has Michael Carter in. If Drake London gets the start and plays, then maybe he swaps out Carter.
SPEAKER_01And he's got such an advantage there because they're both four o'clock games, so he's not gonna have a timing issue. Yeah. And then he's got Jonathan Taylor on the Monday night side.
SPEAKER_02So this reiterates I know Kendall was trying to block him from a quarterback, but a quarterback is like, who knows when a quarterback's gonna go off. For this, like, you knew you knew Devontae Adams, you knew Dreck Lonnen has been hurt. Maybe try to spend some fab on Michael Carter.
SPEAKER_00You know, um, I will say, Cody, like, just look, this has got to be one of the most favorable weeks.
SPEAKER_02For Cody, period. We'll walk through it. CJ Stroud is who he slotted in as a quarterback, plays Vegas. Michael Carter plays Atlanta. Uh Amon Ja, Aman Ra Jane Brown plays Washington, Amon Raw St. Brown plays Pittsburgh, George Kittle, Indianapolis, Nico Collins, Vegas, Jonathan Taylor, San Francisco. Um, a lot of his players are playing each other. They're playing in the same game. Yeah. Um that'll be interesting. And he might slot in Drake London if he plays. Or maybe not. And he also gets a six-point advantage this week. There is no home field advantage in the uh Pete um Braden matchup because they're the same.
SPEAKER_00Did you pick one?
SPEAKER_01Not yet.
SPEAKER_02This is so tough. I'm picking Cody.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I I really, really want to pick Ken. I really do. Yeah. I'm let me stare at this one.
SPEAKER_02The real problem is I would say of anyone in the league, Kendall was the most pissed when I made that trade. And yeah, I think he's gonna be really mad again.
SPEAKER_00I have a feeling he's gonna he's gonna have an excuse to head towards uh Columbus and he's gonna come knocking at your door.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00You might have a brown paper bag full of something.
SPEAKER_02You know, somebody has been messing with somebody has been messing with our water meter. Maybe it's been Kindle. We've woken up two days and our water meter has been just like flooding out into the street. I'm like, who's who's fucking with us? It's probably Kindle.
SPEAKER_01Man.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna take Cody. Yeah, I got Cody. I want to pick Kindle so bad, but I have to go with Cody. We're all a bunch of bitches. Gimme Cody. Or maybe we're doing it in the favor.
SPEAKER_01A playoff consensus quake!
SPEAKER_02Um Yeah, I mean, the the real thing is like this is I think we can hands down say this is Kindle's best team he's ever had.
SPEAKER_00Uh yeah, I would agree. And it's all it's all maybe not necessarily his best, but it's stayed healthy.
SPEAKER_02No, I think it's well, yeah, but like that's part of it, right? How many guys does he have playing at the end of the year who are really good? Um yeah, I just think it's gonna go up against the team no one can beat. So we're saying is Cody Pete championship? Or braided. Yeah. Well, I don't know. I mean, are we gonna have a championship on next week's Christmas?
SPEAKER_01We'll see.
SPEAKER_02I don't know.
SPEAKER_04How does the league week work? Because isn't there a game on Christmas? I think. Didn't I read that somewhere?
SPEAKER_02Christmas is Thursday.
SPEAKER_04No, it's Thursday, you're right.
SPEAKER_01It's Thursday. So it's a Saturday. There's a Saturday game that weekend. Yeah. Christmas weekend.
SPEAKER_02So somebody's gonna get a good Christmas present. You guys want to do a pod next week? Try for like Tuesday. What if we did a Christmas morning?
SPEAKER_00I think that would be great. I'm out. I'm out.
SPEAKER_01Let's look at the calendar and see if uh see if it works. I'd like everyone in the league to hear me go on the record that I want to do a championship odd.
SPEAKER_00I I could so what?
SPEAKER_01I will make any time and date work. I'm free.
SPEAKER_00So we're thinking either Monday or Tuesday.
SPEAKER_04It's probably gotta be Tuesday. Well, Colts play Monday night, so I was gonna say probably it would have to be Tuesday.
SPEAKER_00Okay. I think I can make it work. Quincy, we all could go to midnight Christmas Eve service and then do it after you. Uh I have plans. On Christmas Eve? What? No, on Tuesday. But they don't do Christmas Eve service on Tuesday. Some do. On the 23rd? These new age churches are not Christmas Eve.
SPEAKER_01These New Age churches are. You've been scouting the church schedules, Christmas?
SPEAKER_00No, I'm just saying that's not Christmas Eve. So that's not that's that's a rolling church. Kyle.
SPEAKER_02No, deal with the times.
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_02There's why don't you grow up? Grow up, Peter Pan. I will say Kyle did Kyle did bring us some nice uh. I was wondering if you guys were gonna even give a shout out to Farmwell Seeds. He brought us some coffee mugs.
SPEAKER_04Farmwell Seeds for all your seed needs.
SPEAKER_01Golden harvest rooted in genetics, agronomy, and service. A little tumbler, and he brought us hats.
SPEAKER_00Farmwell hats. The seed we sell you, the money stays in your pocket, not in our competitors jet. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. That's the argument I've been trying to make to Quincy.
SPEAKER_04I don't know. I mean, Bex does have some fantastic vacations to the Caymans. Do you guys do that? No, because we keep it in your pocket.
SPEAKER_02Go put the money, go do your own vacation. Yeah. Money stays in the state instead of in the Cayman Islands. That's right.
SPEAKER_04Well, they they do pay a lot of taxes on jet fuel for what it's worth.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but they don't always refuel here. They probably refuel in the Cayman Islands.
SPEAKER_00Not to mention how many bags of cash go down there.
SPEAKER_04Well, you know, we don't know.
SPEAKER_00You don't think so?
SPEAKER_04It's bags of seed, Kyle. Sure. I I I just like to envision that it's like um um the firm. You know, when they go down there with Tom Cruise and Gene Hackman, R.I.P. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00All I'm gonna say is I was talking to an older person that had mentioned that one time they were down at a event and in the islands, yes. And then Sonny, it was over at like Mexico, and then um one of the owners uh had to take the jet and fly down someplace else to put money in a bank.
SPEAKER_01You know, Kyle, Sonny's gonna listen to this and you're gonna get hit with a slanderous lawsuit.
SPEAKER_02Well, my whole thing, and I've made this argument to Abbott, so like he's 80, he's worth billions. Like, why not do what the Texas Tech people did this year? And like just throw fuck it, throw a hundred million at a Purdue footballer.
SPEAKER_04You know, that would actually be a quarter of the contribution that Michigan State recently took of four hundred and one million dollars.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. It's like what company was that did that guy found?
SPEAKER_04Across, which is an insurance company, who knows? Doesn't matter.
SPEAKER_02Well, it also proves that um insurance is a giant grift. Like, how the fuck you have that much money running an insurance company? Well, they've known that for you just not figuring this out? I'm just vocalizing it. It's a racket. How about that cursing netty? Man. Unbelievable. So here's the deal. I've been saying this for months. Why didn't one of these huge programs, a Penn State, a Florida, a Purdue, Michigan, a now Michigan, I mean, they already knew that fucking coach was screwing around being a douchebag. Why didn't they fire him months ago and offer Kirk Signetti like 20 plus million dollars? Make him say no. Offer him 25 million a year. Yeah. Make him say no. And you probably spend less on NIL because Signetti actually can develop players instead of just purchasing all five-star players. No one has this idea. I make things too easy.
SPEAKER_04I I I think it's I think it's very interesting that they didn't deal with it sooner. I think that they're they were waiting to see what would happen with Ohio State.
SPEAKER_00So they they're doing like now a full review of their program because how much I think they should shut the whole thing down until they figure out what the hell's going on.
SPEAKER_04I don't know how their own their AD survives this. Well, and that's what's interesting because apparently he is involved with hiring the new coach, which I think is problematic. I think you're right. I think you have to fire the AD.
SPEAKER_02Is he Rob Emanuel's brother?
SPEAKER_04Wait, what?
SPEAKER_02Isn't his last name Manuel?
SPEAKER_04Ward Manual. They're not related. Not related. To who?
SPEAKER_02Rob Emanuel Rob Manuel. Rob Emanuel? Ram Emanuel. Okay. Number one. They have different last names. Number two. It all sounds Spanish to me. I don't speak Spanish in English.
SPEAKER_04So just to clarify, no, they're not related.
SPEAKER_02Okay. But back to Kirk Signetti. Unbelievable. You like that guy, don't you? I honestly do. I mean, how can you like I think way there aren't enough people who speak brashly nowadays? I think everyone is pussyfied down. And I like somebody who just comes out and like fucking says it and fucking boom. It's awesome. Just does it. It's incredible what he's been able to do. Absolutely incredible. It's like my worst nightmares of producer. Well, the other thing is like, if you thought that were to ever happen, you're like, oh, well, there'll be a young coach that'll leave for some other program. He's 65 fucking years old. He's not going anywhere. And he's so goddamn nuts. He like wants to prove everyone wrong.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02It's unbelievable.
SPEAKER_00Why did it take so long for him? Is it just like you know, why did it take so long for him to get noticed?
SPEAKER_01I find that really interesting that he spent this time in the Alabama system and was never really plucked out of there.
SPEAKER_02Well, but it wasn't a long, he was only there for like four-ish years. Yeah. It wasn't like he was there for like 10. And then he bounced around like tiny schools in B.
SPEAKER_01Elon, IUP, yeah.
SPEAKER_02And then JMU. Was he head coaches at all those? But that's all been since you know, in the last and they just had kind of mixed No, they all did well. He won titles at IUP, JMU. Yeah, but they were just tiny schools. That's fascinating. Yeah. Um But you but what happened up to that point? Because all of those head coaching jobs came when he was in his late 50s. And see, I think that is like I don't necessarily what was he doing pre-Alabama, is what I'm wondering. I haven't even really looked.
SPEAKER_00I think programs should be looking more places like that, that for places people that have been a head coach for many years, versus like doing something like you're picking the defensive coordinator, like you know, Ryan Walters. I mean things like that. One of the biggest misses you could have ever had. Like it's just you know, you you need to let them have that opportunity.
SPEAKER_02Well, and it was it was perfect timing with NIL because he was able to bring, you know, yeah, 15 players over from his one loss JMU team.
SPEAKER_01So so before Alabama, I'll start chronologically, spent two years as Rice's QB coach, three years as Temple's QB coach, six years as Pittsburgh's QB coach, six years as NC State's QB coach, and then went to Alabama.
SPEAKER_00What what was he at Alabama?
SPEAKER_01Receivers.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah. Then it was an associate head coach for a year or something, too.
SPEAKER_04Uh you know, in a weird way, don't you think that there's something to if you're one of these big programs, your football coach hire people think is is really kind of representative of the university. And and it people are trying, you want to make a splash. You want someone who will impress donors and will, you know, that everyone's like, oh yeah, great pick, home run. And you if you're, you know, all these schools over the years, and and someone say, Have you heard of Coach Sig down at JMU or whatever the fuck it was? You know, with the the glasses, and he's kind of a nerd, and like, you know, I just think they I think people judged a book by his cover. All these guys down south, that LSU wouldn't hire Signetti.
SPEAKER_02They want someone with pizzazz. But but there was no in-between like most people, there's an in-between school, right? Like there's a he goes from James Madison to IU. Yeah, but you is the in-between school. You know what I mean? Or to like a Maryland, or uh, you know, you know, and just uh middle of the road. And then they leave for the Michigans, the Notre Dames, the LSUs, whatever.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Does it is it uh shifting gears a little bit, but how was anybody happy to see Notre Dame get kicked out? I mean not kicked out, but not make the playoffs.
SPEAKER_02Um, I don't know.
SPEAKER_00I kind of think that's a good thing.
SPEAKER_02Well, no, because Courtney's dad and her brother are big Notre Dame fans, so I think that I I I think two things at the same time.
SPEAKER_04First of all, Notre Dame would have a much better resume over one of their main rivals for that spot had they not lost to Miami.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Like they had a play in. They had the opportunity to play Miami, yeah, and they lost. Fair enough, but like that they they played each other on the field. Yeah, and so I think that there's a lot of crocodile tears for Notre Dame. On the other hand, you know, when you have these group of five teams in there, I think it's dumb.
SPEAKER_02I've also thought it was bullshit for a long time that Notre Dame is a member of the ACC in all of their other sports when they obviously like belong in the Big Ten. And then in and then in just based on historic rivalries or matchups.
SPEAKER_00They've been avoiding a conference in football forever.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, for the reason that it makes it easier for them to get into I think these rules of like, oh, whoever the highest you know conference team ranked in the top 25 at the end of the year, so like a James Madison gets in and a fucking Tulane gets in, and they're both literally like 30-point fucking dogs going into these games.
SPEAKER_04It's like I just think I think that the playoff is is way too big. And I know that I'm I'm uh I'm shouting at the rain here. It's never going to get smaller, it's only going to get bigger. But I don't think anyone has any doubt who the best teams in college football are. And we don't need to have a bullshit game with Tulane to help determine.
SPEAKER_02What would you take? So I use the best team in college football. We should just crown them right now. Crown their ass.
SPEAKER_04It was 1997, yeah. That's what we would have done.
SPEAKER_02Are you going off to the Rose Bowl?
SPEAKER_04Uh, we're not gonna go.
SPEAKER_02What the fuck?
SPEAKER_04I know. I know I would walk to California if Purdue made it. Let me let me just make a just a quick case for why you should go to the Rose Bowl. It's because it's such a neat uh as someone who hasn't been, we went, Michigan State went in 2013. And it's always it's shockingly expensive, I'm sure. It was in 2013. It's a pain to go to California on New Year's. On the other hand, it's such a neat opportunity to go, and you never know if you'll be back. And so like it's hard.
SPEAKER_02I'm telling you, um Purdue's inner Signet. Purdue's gonna run a Kirksonetti honeypot trap. That's how that's the only way we can fight this guy. We're not gonna beat him on the field, so we got a honeypot. Well, you know, that guy's not gonna buy now.
SPEAKER_04He's not Lane Kiffin. Sherone Moore's girlfriend went to Purdue.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Did he? Did she really?
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I told you that.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so maybe she's a Purdue graduate. Maybe 2016. According to her LinkedIn, which I definitely have to do.
SPEAKER_00Purdue's running a deep state.
SPEAKER_02Uh you're telling me we could get her to get her to like coach and train up a new honeypot to go after Signetti. That's what we should do. I don't think I don't think Signetis fits her profile. No, no, maybe no. What I'm saying is like she's already used good, so she can't do it. But she can train the next one. We find what Signetti's into, which is probably some really weird shit.
SPEAKER_00So we find somebody who does that. Well, didn't Walters, wasn't there a uh suspicion that Walters had one too? Yeah, that's what fucking Corbin told us. And then we'll see. There we go. We need to talk to Corbin. He'd probably be like, Oh, yeah, there's a whole program.
SPEAKER_01Signetti has these honeypot girls around him. He's gonna have them on the field doing five-step drops.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I did read an article the other day that uh it was about the Michigan thing. And it was like, hey, I've never told this story. This happened like 15 years ago. My buddy and I went to a bar in Ann Arbor. We went to Michigan, and Jim Harbaugh was there. This is like pre when he started coaching the team. He was just back for a weekend at Michigan. And he looked over at these girls, these like cute girls sitting at the at next to the bar, and he's like, Hey, you want to go, you want to go throw a football? Like, think and the guy was like, I thought he was just hitting on these girls and like being weird. But they said yes, and then he proceeded to like for four hours literally put his girls on the ball, like was and he was and the guy who was telling the story is like, I've never told this story publicly, but he was winging these balls at these girls and like getting pissed when they wouldn't catch them. And then at the end he was just like, Okay, thanks a lot, and then left.
SPEAKER_03These girls are like, he's like, these girls are beat up and bruised, and they're just like, what the fuck just happened?
SPEAKER_02So yeah, but that would be like a Cignetti thing. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_01A lot of similarities in Jim Harbaugh. A little bit of the crazy eyes. So I watched so many Cignetti hype videos. I mean, you mesh up these quotes that he's had over the past two and a half years with the highlight reels of these successes from this season and last.
SPEAKER_02It's just I think my favorite of his is the uh, I think it was this year when she's like, Coach, uh the Penn State game. No, okay, that one was my favorite. Like this team's never played here before. Yeah. And I that's a great one. But the my favorite one is she's like, uh, coach, you're 10 and 0 for the second time and or second time uh in two seasons. How's it feel? He's like, 10 and 0, huh? Not bad. Yeah, he just walks away.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that was last year. Yeah. Fucking awesome. Fast physical, resent relentless guys.
SPEAKER_0410 0.
unknownNot bad.
SPEAKER_01All right. Well, final four, baby. We'll be back. Good luck to all the competitors. Bye, everybody.
