Richard Ladkani continues his work of environmental documentary storytelling by bringing us to the Amazon to share the story of Juma Xipaia and her husband Hugo Loss as they fight for environmental land protection and Indigenous sovereignty. In our interview, Richard and Juma discuss the approach they discussed for sharing Juma's message and the importance of safety and security for the subjects and crew during the process. As the first woman to serve as chief of the Middle Xingu region, Juma is an internationally recognized advocate who has survived six assassination attempts for her work.
