Creating a Spooky Community: From Podcast Tales to YouTube Adventures
What if you could turn your passion project into an interactive community hub? That's exactly what's happening with Spooky Island Radio as we embark on a thrilling new journey from the podcast world to YouTube. As I approach the completion of my nursing degree, I've realized it's the perfect time to expand and create a platform where we can engage more dynamically. YouTube offers a space for us to connect beyond the constraints of audio, fostering conversations and building relationships through comments and shares. This decision wasn't made lightly; it reflects a heartfelt desire to grow and enhance our spooky storytelling adventure together.
Your unwavering support has been the backbone of Spooky Island Radio, and for that, I am eternally grateful. Special thanks to my fellow podcasters and dear friends like Jason, Untold Olivia, Lauren, and Claire, who've enriched this journey. A special nod to AJ, Aaron, and Jamie from the From the Word Ghost podcast, who have also ventured into the YouTube realm. This transition isn't just a format change; it's a call to join me in a new chapter where we create more than stories—we create a community. I hope you'll continue this journey with me as we explore new opportunities to connect and share the chilling tales we love.
Welcome everybody back to Spooky Island Radio, the podcast as it's known at the moment. Yeah, you might have seen from the title of this that it's probably not the best little episode I'm going to be putting out, but it's just a bit to sort of go through. Yes, I am stopping the podcast. I have some reasons why which I'll go through in a second. So if you want to hear those, then obviously stick around. But it's going to be a pretty short little clip here. I'm not stopping Spooky Island Radio because I really enjoy it. It's just I'm going to change the format a bit. So hopefully you guys will want to stick with it. But basically I'm coming to the end of my nursing degree. That'll be happening in sort of January, february time, hopefully. So I'll have a lot more time and a lot more effort and a bit more money to put in to sort of trying to make this a thing. So, yeah, so, yeah. So I think I'm going to stop the podcast and come spring time of next year I'll be sort of creating a bit of a YouTube channel, still be called Spooky Island Radio, just a different format. I just know people who are doing YouTube at the moment and sort of to me it's never really been an option. I know people who are doing YouTube at the moment and so to me it's never really been an option. I've never really thought of it as an option.
Speaker 1:But speaking to people who are making a go of it or trying to make a go of it, I think what the difference is. It seems like they are able to create a bit more of a community. I mean, mean, this is a one-man band, it's literally me. Um, it'd be different if I was on the podcast with someone else. We were talking, and it's a bit more of a conversation. I might feel like I'm getting a bit more out of it. You know like, but at the moment it's just I'm putting out episodes and they're sort of just it's me obviously doing the research, doing everything, editing, um, and I put it out, put an episode out, and it's just out there in the world. You know, and from what I've seen from YouTube is that you can sort of people are a bit more interactive. You know, it's like it's more accessible to watch a video and then write a comment underneath and then I can comment back and then someone might share it and someone else can comment. And if I think it's just going to be a bit more that. I feel not that I'm getting more out of it than the podcast, because I love I do love doing the podcast and I hope you all enjoy listening to it just as much as I enjoy making it. But yeah, I just think I'm not getting my heart isn't in it anymore and and I think I sort of would feel a bit better doing a sort of YouTube video.
Speaker 1:I'm sorry if I'm stopping and starting, but I'm literally just I've not even got any notes or anything. I'm just putting my thoughts out. I'm releasing this and, yeah, I mean, I just want to say thank you to everybody that's listened to the podcast, who's spoken to me, who's messaged me, who sent me an email, who's spoken to me on instagram or whatever. You know, um, I appreciate it. All the friends, all the all of the uh channels I've met along the way. You know jason, pardon, untold olivia and lauren from is this place haunted? Uh, michelle from um a paranormal state of mind podcast that was quite a while away back. She's not doing that one anymore.
Speaker 1:And um, yeah, you know claire, obviously from don't scare claire. Um, oh, and how could I forget aj and um, aaron and jamie. How the fuck did I forget that? It's because I said aj, not aaron, um, from, from, from the from the word ghost podcast, um, and they've just started releasing videos on youtube as well. Um, so, all those people I mentioned, thank you for sort of speaking to me, helping this journey, um, you know, be what it is today.
Speaker 1:And thank you to everyone who's listened to an episode, downloaded an episode, shared an episode. I really appreciate it. Don't think I don't, because I really do. I just think it's evolved now to a point where it's time for the video format of it. So I will be coming back, like I say, with a YouTube channel in spring. It will still be called spooky on radio, um, and it'll be sort of videos, still sort of in the same sort of format, still going to be going into misinformer one cases, spooky places all around the world, um, ghost stories surrounding them and all that you know.
Speaker 1:So I am going away just for a little bit. I hope you all appreciate that. I know I've only just basically come back, but I think, since I've come back, I realised actually I think video is the way forward for me, just so I feel like, you know, I get a bit more out of it, bit more people interaction. But, yeah, thank you everyone who's listened since Haunted Hangover podcast me and Shauna. Thank you to everyone who shared it. Thank you everyone who's listened since a haunted hangover podcast me and Shauna. Thank you to everyone who shared it. Thank you to everyone who's listened and for the last time on the podcast, that's Andy from spooky radio signing out over and out.
